Skeleton Crew - Very Interesting, As An Astrogation Problem
"The truth! The truth is, I'm just like you! Okay? I'm lost. I'm alone." Jod Na Nawood

Episode 3 continues to keep the momentum and peak quality of the premiere up!
We finally got to see KB's parents (I love that they're her moms), and it will be interesting to see why her moms put cybernetics (one of the functions is a life monitor, and apparently, she needs medical needs) in KB. I wonder if the cybernetics might be due to an accident or a birth defect. I love how KB stands in for people with disabilities. I hope we get to see more of Wendle's story and maybe even some backstory for him.
I love that KB got the most focus after the first two episodes didn't really go into her. I love the subtle insult about the chances Job isn't a Jedi given her knowledge of the Jedi is from the OR Era when the Jedi were much more numerous.

Similar to the Acolyte, I really appreciate the show for not trying to delay the obvious mysteries like making it clear Jod is Captain Silvo and how he's intending right now in the story at least to try to find the treasure on At Attin. Also that Battle Droid asking if they won totally gave me Jedi Survivor vibes with another Droid asking that same question haha.
I really love the visual effects, especially the owl alien Kh'ymm later on. The budget for Kh'kymm visual effects is on-par with the movies, and honestly this show has a lot more movie quality than Ahsoka.

Jod needs to respect droids and soon. SM-33 is always a gem and he has a good keen on Jod's untrusty nature. I'm glad we got to see how Jod is a genuine Force-user (Jude Law has already confirmed he is genuine about his Force-sensitive status). However, Jod might be old enough to have been around during the Clone Wars, which would make his prejudice against droids make sense.
I really love that Kh'ymm is an actual good being, and she thinks Jod kidnaps the kids when we know it's the opposite case. However, she is right that Jod does have ulterior motives. It's nice to see some genuinely nice beings in this galaxy. Also, her Observatory looks so amazing.
At Attin, one of the Jewels of the Old Republic is definitely from the actual Old Republic which makes me pretty excited. I thought we would need to wait until the MMO dies to see Old Republic content but I'm glad we're also starting to dip into the Era. I like the concept of hiding away certain worlds akin to time capsules unaffected by the outside galaxy. I'm going to guess those Jewels were destroyed by the Sith, the Nihil, the Clone Wars, and definitely the Empire. The more I think about it, At Attin and the Jewel world are the equivalent of a Fallout Vault. It makes me wonder if there's smth more malevolent to the world: What is At Attin's experiment lmao.
It's so weird in a good way to see the kids not know about what's going on since their isolation such as not knowing about how rough Coruscant got it post-war and Alderaan's destruction...God that's going to be awkward when the kids know what happened to Alderaan and the wars since their isolation. Can't wait for Wim to learn about Order 66.
My theory is whoever the Supervisor and the govt is that they have some access to the outside galaxy and they might've taken some things from what's going on to spin it into their own ideas (like Soh's Great Works to describe part of the Great Work of keeping the Barrier up).
I love and find it hilarious how KB and Fern end up turning Jod's idea of being partners and whether he works for them. Such a power move by those kids and I love to see it haha. While Jod didn't tell the kids the complete truth, I think he is telling the truth about him feeling lost and I hope we get to see his character development over the series (I'm a sucker for the heart of gold character growth, especially during this time where we need those feel good stories). I wonder if he really is a Jedi dropout or a former Padawan. I can't wait for Episode 7 to give us more on his character like Jude Law promised.
I hope Neel gets to be more independent over time, and this is hopefully the first step. God, I love how the Onyx Cinder looks after looking at the brick abomination of a "ship" that is the Trailblazer, haha. It also feels weird to see the kids firing on NR ships, but I like how the X-Wings pilots were worried about the kids. I also like how they were using ion shots since they weren't trying to destroy the ship but disable it. I hope we see more of Kh'ymm haha. I also think the ruined world in the trailers could be one of those destroyed Jewels of the Old Republic.

"He got us this far. But I don't trust him. Not really." KB
"What did he tell you? 'Trust your gut'? Use your head. Get the truth. And if you ever need help, you can call me anytime." Kh'ymm

My Skeleton Crew predictions:
(Possible spoilers if any of these actually happen!)
Jod will have an opportunity to betray the kids, but will decide against it even though being loyal to them is no financial benefit to him. However, they will believe that he has betrayed them.
KB will have a medical emergency due to her cybernetics malfunctioning. Jod will save her, finally earning both KB and Fern's trust.
At some point, Jod will be lost and presumed dead. The kids will discover he is alive when he shows up to rescue them in a Big Damn Hero moment.
They find an actual old Jedi temple, which thrills Wim... and Jod will then have to explain what happened to all the Jedi.
Jod will acquire a lightsaber in the temple, though he will not be skilled at using it, and will get stabby with it instead of using any kind of proper technique. He will, however, use the lightsaber to kill a beast that is attacking the kids, which will delight Wim (who saw something similar in his storybook).
Fern, Wim, and Jod will all form a bit of a bond over the fact that they each lost a parent. Jod will not elaborate on how he lost one, though the kids will tell him about how their parents died.
We will not learn Jod's full backstory until the last episode, when it will be told in flashbacks.
As soon as they touch down on At Attin, Jod will be seized by the safety droids and locked up because he is an outsider. The kids will advocate for him, and their parents will support them in this (though not right away).
Because of Fara's actions, which went against admin rules, she and Fern will be put on house arrest. Wendle and the kids will hurry to get them out, then they will free Jod from prison.
Because the Supervisor doesn't believe Jod's warning about pirates coming, KB will send a message to Kh'ymm, who will get some x-wings to scramble to their aid.
At the end of the battle with the pirates, the x-wing pilots will threaten to haul "Crimson Jack" in for his crimes; but Fara will officially name him a resident of At Attin (since she is rather high ranking member of admin) and tell them that since he is a citizen of their planet he is not subject to New Republic laws. This will get the arrest wrapped up in red tape, and after the x-wings leave to get orders on the subject, Fara will tell Jod to leave before they get back, since she was just bluffing.
Fern will officially hand the captaincy of the ship over to Jod, who will smile when SM-33 calls him Captain.
Jod will give Wim the lightsaber he found, which Wendle stumbles over objecting to but ultimately allows him to keep.
At the end, it will be hinted at that Fara and Wendle kind of like each other in that way (making Fern and Wim have a bit of an "oh, heck no" exchange).

skeleton crew finale spoilers under the cut!
what I find so interesting about jod is that we already knew he wouldn’t kill the kids. he had been presented with that option more than once and chose not to. it’s a line he won’t cross. we also know now that he was saved by a jedi as a child, and that the people who executed her forced him to watch
despite his threats from the previous episode, he really doesn’t want to kill fara or wendle. he knows what it’s like to lose an adult that you admire, a caretaker. as jealous as he was of these kids and their ‘perfect’ childhoods, jod was never going to become the people who took his mentor from him

You had a frazzled single parent under a ton of pressure snap at a kid ONCE after the child was found out of bounds on a hugely important day. What's there to hate? He didn't hit his child, or lock him in his room, or even send him to bed without his supper. He fought against the system to win his child a second chance. You're absolutely right, Wendle doesn't deserve a redemption arc -- because there's nothing he needs to redeem.
If you don't mind being mildly spoiled about upcoming episodes of Skeleton Crew, on the official Star Wars site there is a promo image of (SPOILER AHEAD!!!!) Wim's dad riding a hover bike alongside Wim, KB, and Neel as they appear to be in a great hurry to get somewhere! I feel like Wim's dad might have a bit of a redemption arc of his own!
Be honest? I don't care. They set up the character so successfully, I don't think I'll change my mind.
I had to stop watching Tokusatsu GaGaGa when her mom appeared. My visceral hatred for her was so raging, I had to stop watching the show, half because I couldn't stand to see her do more to her daughter, and half because I fear they'd try to redeem her. She deserved no redemption, and neither does this guy, who's probably secretly worried that his son's actions will affect his chances of promotion.

Skeleton Crew S1E8:
I forgot her name, but the Owl's coming back, I think :D
Omfg, I forgot we left off on a cliffhangar. Somehow.
Oh, okay. He wasn't actually about to chop them up. Dramatic ass.
facepalms in Fern
It would be funny if the supervisor's Tak Rennod, though. I do love that theory.
Wendle. Dude. LISTEN TO YOUR SON.
Getting Imperial vibes from the Supervisor's chamber…
Oh, it's a droid. Yeahhh, that wasn't unexpected either.
Well, at least Fara's listening to her child.
THE SUPERVISOR KNOWS ABOUT ORDER 66.
Damn, the Supervisor's smarter than I thought. Saw right through Jod, though Idk how tf it thought those droids would protect it.
Oh, the Supervisor was also the source of power to the whole city, rip.
THE DROIDS ARE DOWN. Fucking finally.
"Get down here," he says, as if he's been waiting on them and not the other way around. Smh Jod.
Bath time's over, Neel.
OH, OKAY THEN. JUST BOMBARD CIVILLIANS, WHY DON'T YOU.
Oooh, they're gonna call the New Republic.
Oh, I guess Wendle's gonna help then. That's cool.
Damn, the pirates really just decided they were gonna enslave everyone.
There's something both really tragic and really inspiring about a handful of kids and Wim's dad going out of their way to save everyone. Especially watching them ride through the streets getting shot at by pirates. Kids.
"You kids know how to fly this thing???" Yeah, barely.
HAYNA. That's the owl's name.
Fern giving an inspirational speech about the rest of the galaxy to her mother >>>
Jod. Shut up.
The fact that no one's fixed SM-33 yet is depressing.
You, in fact, did not have him, Vane.
The look on Jod's face when Fern joined in on Wim's distraction story. The most baffled "what-the-fuck" expression ever. 🤣
YESSSSSSSSSSSSS
THEY FIXED HIM! I AM SO HAPPY. I ACTUALLY CHEERED.
AND THEN ACCIDENTALLY RESTARTED THE EPISODE AND HAD TO GUESS THE TIMESTAMP.
Everybody loves good ol' 33. :D
Lmfao, I just realized KB is literally holding his head next to his body, that's even funnier. Glad to know nothing was gravely damaged internally. Systems are fully functional, he just needs to be reattached.
Heh, Jod actually looks regretful.
Anyway, KB and 33 are fine. The ship was level when it crashed. That was just debris from their surroundings.
Jod's lost it again. Damn.
Anyone else notice how he lashes out when the kids make him feel bad, and he tries blaming them when they're only reacting to his actions?
BACKSTORY TIME.
So, Jod was almost a Jedi. Barely a trainee. He probably felt like he'd been saved, then felt that ripped away. So yeah, he is jealous of the kids, because of his own childhood.
And all of those Jedi comments are reminding him of what could have been if the Empire hadn't killed the one that found him.
My man is traumatized. Except he took it wrong and went off the rails.
Wendle punching Jod in the face was still incredibly satisfying, though, let's be honest.
Wim igniting the lightsaber >>>>>>
Bye bye, Barrier.
Hello, X-Wings :D
AND B-WINGS.
At Attin's probably gonna join the New Republic after this.
Wim calling out for Jod to come with them, despite everything he's done 😭
THE FUCKING MUSIC??????
…Is the New Republic gonna help repair the city? Damn, man.
RIP Jod, probably.
Oh yeah, the Onyx got caught in a great spot, actually. KB's fine.
cue 33 carrying his own head lmao
Wim's gonna join the New Republic when he's old enough, isn't he. I saw the way he was watching those ships. I think he'd enjoy being a pilot.
Noooooooooo, it's over. I'm sad now. I actually loved this show way more than I thought I would.
