So uh, yeah, i dont know what the point of this show is lmfao

From the get go, Maeshima is so unlikable, there’s nothikng about him that makes me want to root for him at all. We see him lose to Shinozaki and the declaration but like, what about it? Why do I want to see Maeshima beat Shinozaki? The only reason is because Shinozaki says he is unbeatable so that’s the only reason but why would i want to see Maeshima specifically beat him? I don’t. Like, at all. I literally do not care about this guy. 

Losing his ice skating parents and being forced to quit skating because of his own bet was an interesting start but personality wise he is soooo unlikeable. The only thing that I would have liked to see more is maybe him and Terauchi since he still reponds/calls him by his childhood name. 

The “I want to win!!!” is so not endearing. I’m just thinking about other sports series protags, most of them want to win because they love the sport so much and they just want to keep doing it. Or they want to win because their team wants to win and they just want to be helpful to the team/be a part of it, carry the hopes and dreams, etc. Maeshima here just wants to win against Shinozaki for what? For pride? The rest of Ionodai also are mostly in it for pride but like, they were a whole ass team before Maeshima butt his ass into the club.

I don’t have a problem with Sasugai and Maeshima as a duo, theyre both kind of assholes so i can’t really tell if they like “care” about each other. Yeah they had that moment in the last episode but i feel like whoever made this show was like “the  coach and MC HAVE to be AS UNGAY AND UNHOMOEROTIC AS POSSIBLE”. Yeah we have the “I need you” line, but I didn’t feel ANYTHING from it. It’s like they HAD to add that line but it kinda just feels so forced.

Seeing the different parts of Shinozaki and Sasugai so late in the series is such a fucking waste. Like I get that it’s supposed to be some “ultimate pay off”, but I had to sit through all of this training nonsense that I don’t even care anymore. 

Literally I can’t remember what goes on in the show? There’s a lot of technical practice and training and sometimes we see the competition but it just feels like a waste of time because we never actually see a whole performance. The last two episodes felt like that was the most performance they had tried to animate but all the in betweens will be audience and viewer shots.

I feel like they never really flesh out the actual rules or guidelines of the sport, so when they talk all the technical jargon it just doesn’t make sense and its just there to make the character look like they know what theyre talking about but you don’t even see what they’re talking about. The sport itself is a mess, like yeah its ice skating performing but why do they need to do it as a team? They have all these positions but what do they actually do? We don’t know because they never go into it because the creators probably also don’t know and they just wanted to sell a team sport. 

I never, ever, Ever felt any camaraderie in Ionodai. It felt like a cop out because they already knew eachother from when they were younger but Maeshima and Sasugai always feel like they’re doing their own thing so you never really see them interact with the rest of the team. Instead of spending time showing the technical stuff,I’d rather see character episodes, because yeah we know Of the Ionodai members but we don’t know Know them, like, at all. 

I’ve felt more camaraderie from Kogahara than Ionodai, and that team is literally just Himekawa and 4 randos. Also their coach just seems more involved than Adachi. Yeah I get that Sasugai is supposedly the Main Coach and they just learned that Super Move from Adachi, but he literally just sits there on his phone. 

Maybe I expect my sports anime to go a certain way. Maybe they would have benefitted from having 2 cours, where the first cour is to set up the team and the second to actually compete? With only 12 eps, getting Maeshima into the Skate Leading world just took up so much time. I don’t want to say the competition is boring, but the competitions are boring. We never get to see any actual performance so why do I care about watching them train all the time. Couldn’t even give me character bonds. What’s the point of this show.

Unfortunately the character designs are very nice, Maeshima is very cool to look at, his ygo protag shaped hair and his performing outfit is so cool. The OP showcased Jounouchi in slowmo and its a fucking waste because he did jack shit, and the rest of the OP was too low budget to even give the entire main team a cool skate shot. 

I think the amount of character for the series is a fine number, maybe spend a little less time on Kuonji sometimes. The twins are actually pretty amusing but a waste of seiyuu (the fact that they got both nojima brothers is hilarious to me)  because theyre mostly whispering to themselves. I think Himekawa was the most interesting character, not in terms of personality, but in terms of his situation. Him starting out at home team and then just up and leaving to go to another school, and he was their ace too. 

I think SLS fails because it doesn’t really do anything too different as a sports anime. Like everything is pretty predictable, the characters are what you would expect, and they are trying to sell a sport that isn’t complete because we never know the rules or anything you just have to take their word for it, so its not exciting. 

The animation isn’t awful but you know they are “cutting corners” because you never see a full performance. I’ve seen some ice skaters in the reviews, and I don’t really know much about ice skating besides the little I remember from YOI, but even I can tell there isn’t that much actual skating. They show the characters doing the jumps and spins but you never really see a full body on the ice. Sorry I'm going to compare it to Bakuten, because Bakuten is literally a performing team sport, and even though you dont see the same routine every time, you see it in full at least 2 times, and every time it’s a little different, whether in a different angle or a different POV.

The Shitennou in the 90s anime are fantastic because each one of them is a specialist of some sort and it makes their evil operations distinct from one another, keeping things fresh.

Jadeite - The Illusionist

When it comes to Jadeite, deception is the name of the game. For his energy harvesting schemes he creates fake businesses, has his youma pose as humans, and he himself dons all sorts of disguises: radio DJ, fitness instructor, stage manager, academic professor, shrine assistant, amusement park security guard, and captain of a cruise ship. He will also utilize illusions to intimidate like when he showed a vision of Tokyo in flames, or to trick his enemies like when he had illusionary cops force the Sailor Senshi to transform so that he could learn their true identities. Unfortunately, Jadeite's pride in his capabilities means that he was stubbornly unwilling to adapt and take a more direct approach, leading to his downfall.

Nephrite - The Manipulator

Nephrite is a manipulator in all senses of the word. He manipulates people, objects, events and even the stars themselves in order to achieve his villainous goals. Using the single disguise of Masato Sanjouin, he gets close to victims, then will usually give them an item he curses to amplify their innate negative energy until it matches the energy of the star they were born under, creating a special youma in the process. He eventually singles out a key victim in Naru Osaka, who has a crush on his Sanjouin persona, and manipulates her in plans to destroy the Sailor Senshi or find the Imperium Silver Crystal, and uses a special tool of his own creation known as the Dark Star Crystal. However, his cold heart ends up warmed by Naru's innocence and devotion to love, leading him to his tragic demise defending her.

Zoisite - The Cheat

While Zoisite had aid from Kunzite in strategizing, let's not sell him short when it comes to the moment of truth - Zoisite frequently prevails because he is willing to do absolutely anything to win. No method is too dirty, cheap or cowardly for him to embrace. He'll threaten someone's loved one to coerce them into doing what he wants, he'll sucker-punch his enemies out of nowhere after having previously retreated from them, he'll physically bully whoever is smaller and weaker than him then blind them to make an escape if they prove more formidable than expected, he'll pretend to surrender and then strike, he'll sic a monster on his enemy while taking his prize and running, and when all else fails a good old-fashioned stabbing in the back will suffice. Zoisite got far on dishonesty, but success went to his head and he overreached.

Kunzite - The Trap Master

At first Kunzite was a skilled tactician, but then after Zoisite died the writers made him stupider at crafting strategies without even seeming to realize it. What he remained very consistent on, however, was his brilliant and deadly traps. He engineered a fake hostage situation leading to the Sailor Senshi getting caught in a dark, ever-compressing forcefield, he cut the power in Tokyo to obstruct the Sailor Senshi's efforts and cause Mamoru and Usagi to get stuck in an elevator, he had a great idea for a DNA scanning device to catch Sailor Moon with that his youma sadly screwed up, he held a princess seminar where the target was the overall failures save for in a frisbee-tossing challenge since it reflects Sailor Moon's tiara throwing ability, he had a giant snowy chasm created for his enemies to fall right into and be unable to climb out of, he rigged an ice skating rink temperature control device to blast an obscene amount of icy coldness down on everyone and nearly freeze them to death, he played on Sailor Venus' friendship with another person to almost obtain vital information from her, he turned the Sailor Senshi's own attempt at a trap back on them because he saw right through it, and were it not for the Silver Crystal's interference would have trapped them all in time-space limbo. Of all the Shitennou, he came closest to victory on the most occasions. Additionally, he was a powerful warrior, with his power and pride sadly being his undoing.

The Louvre and the Hermitage Museum were particularly important to both of you. The main characters of my book To Catch A Star.

First up we have Zelda Hollis, the human. Zelda is a 22 year old college student, forced by her adoptive parents and abusive boyfriend/fiancé, Ezekiel, to hide her true self in many ways. Forced to ignore her love for theater, forced to hide her sexuality, and forced to conform to their standards and needs. She loves musical theater, adores nature and animals, and loves skateboarding. Despite being extremely shy and closed off, she shines on the stage, thriving in the spotlight. Due to the stress of her parents and abuse from her boyfriend/fiancé throughout her life, she has dealt with a lot of depression and suffers heavily from PTSD. It's not until shes an adult that she gets diagnosed as Autistic, keeping it secret from everyone in her life. (Art is censored just incase Tumblr tries to take down artistic nudity) [More on her story later]

Next we have Spectra, the alien. Spectra is part of a species known as the Vadae. She fares from a nation called Vacilite on the planet of Gibasmir. Spectra is not sure when she was born or exactly how old she is, but in human years she is roughly 26. Born the daughter of the Captain and lead scientist of the Vacilite militia, Spectra was raised rather isolated. The only exception being her mother's second in commands twins, Elinoth (she/her) and Vohrix (it/its). Spectra was raised to take over her mother's place and that she did, Vohrix taking its father's place as her right hand Vadae. Spectra was cold and analytical, often being perceived by strangers to be mean or even cruel. But Elinoth and Vohrix know she's a sweetheart on the inside. Just recently before the beginning of the story she adopts Vaeshivka, a Tumultpa aka lava stone hound. [More on her story later.] (Censored for the same reason, but her nipples are shown in detail in the middle because they glow in the dark)

Summary of the first chapter or so of the book below the cut. I'm probably never going to post this story unless this post gets insanely popular or something. Also, for the sake of clearing things up, I have podophobia, aka a phobia of feet. Because of this it makes it insanely hard for me to draw feet since I can't exactly look at references. I tend to go with the basic shapes and nothing else that way I can still have full bodies and not trigger myself.

Our story begins... Zelda first meets Spectra the day her boyfriend Ezekiel proposed to her and she was forced to say yes. He had threatened to tell her parents if she declined, and she knew how poorly her parenrs woild react. After a rough night of Ezekiel once again forcing himself on her, Zelda decides to go for a ride on her skateboard. She starts to sob while skating and tumbles to the asphalt. While she lays in the street, her knees and hands bleeding, she screams into the night for something to save her from this life that she never wanted in the first place. She passes out only to wake up aboard Spectra's ship. Upon meeting Spectra face to face, Zelda can't help but find the strange woman-like alien beautiful. And despite Captain Spectra's second in command, Vohrix's attempts, Zelda moves in with the alien who quite literally abducted her, feeling both hopeful for her life away from abuse, and terrified of living on the brand new planet of Gibasmir. Spectra and Zelda have to find their way through a weird and wholly unique relationship while struggling to come terms with this new situation.

At the talk show she said that she wasn't sure whether she should accept the role of Cosmos, but her Inner Senshi actresses colleagues encouraged her as a finale for all of them when they weren't on stage.

I’m mainly going to be focusing on appearances and sexuality, as that is depicted in the images I edited.

Continuing with characters I headcanon as femme identifying (trans & cis girls). If any of your faves are not present please check part one & part three!

Here's Yuuga Aoyama, Ochako Uraraka, Denki Kaminari, Shouto Todoroki, Tooru Hagakure, and Momo Yaoyorozu!

Yuuga Aoyama (she/they/star/buzz)

Yuuga is transfeminine and omnisexual. She is not dating or crushing on anyone at this point in time.

They have Hyper-mobile Ehlers Danlos Syndrome and are constantly nauseas. Star also uses a cane on star's bad days. Its bedazzled and super pretty.

Buzz enjoys sewing, makeup, and rhinestones. She can be found in her bedroom with her pet bird, Glitter, or in the common area watching French TV.

Ochako Uraraka (she/they/aer/rose)

Ochako is a polyamorous, bisexual, xenogender user. She is dating Tsuyu Asui and Izuku Midoriya.

They are commonly nauseas due to over use of their quirk, but overtime that issue has been going away.

Ae enjoys soft aesthetics, working out, the color pink, and working with kids. Rose is usually in the gym, often with Eijirou Kirishima, baking, or spending time with rose's partners.

Denki Kaminari (she/they/buzz/shock/aer/he)

Denki is omnisexual, genderfluid, transfeminine, and uses xenogenders. She is dating Kyouka Jirou.

They experience muscle pain on the daily basis and are an epileptic due to their quirk. Buzz's quirk also causes litchenburg scarring, which, due to frequent electrical input, does not fade. He's also very tired all of the time.

Shock enjoys playing the guitar, drawing, and playing video games. Ae is often found doing those exact things, usually with company.

Shouto Todoroki (she/they/aer/rose/frost)

Shouto is transfeminine, omnisexual, and polyamorous. She is dating Momo Yaoyorozu and Izuku Midoriya.

They are blind in their left eye and have problems regulating their temperature due to their quirk. Ae is also autistic.

Rose enjoys ice skating, drawing, and reading romance manga. Frost is often found in the common room attempting to sketch one of frost's classmates, but often Tsuyu Asui during her naps, or reading their mangas.

Tooru Hagakure (she/they/name)

Tooru is polyamorous and bisexual. She is dating Mashirao Ojirou and has a slight crush on Mina Ashido.

They are not constantly invisible, but due to severe social anxiety, they feel more confident when they are. It is rare to see Tooru visibly, though Ojirou reports that he thinks Tooru is cute, he's pretty biased.

She enjoys braiding hair, stuffed animals, and working out. She can be found in the gym with Mashirao Ojirou or Ochako Uraraka, baking with Rikido Sato, or spending time in their room.

Momo Yaoyorozu (She/they/bloom/rose)

Momo is a polyamorous lesbian. She's dating Shouto Todoroki and Kyouka Jirou.

Due to their quirk's use of their fat cells, they are often dangerously thin after a mission. To combat this, bloom uses a feeding tube when they are too weak after a mission. Rose is also anemic because of this. She tries to compensate by eating more, which does lead to her gaining weight before a mission, but it never ends up being enough, so a feeding tube was her best choice.

They enjoy goth music, playing the piano, embroidery, and tutoring. Bloom can be found with either of bloom's partners engaging in a variety of activities, playing the piano, or tutoring any variety of bloom's classmates.

There’s really nothing special about queer characters in media, so why shouldn't there be more of them? 

Queer representation in animation has been a topic of debate in relatively recent years, as the uprising of the (predominantly) younger generations fighting for the rights of minorities has become somewhat of a trend. While this is completely needed for any major changes to happen in the media world, since catering to trends is how big media companies profit in the short term; being a minority isn’t a trend. It is a struggle, and yet it is a way of life. Being a minority does not make you any less of a person, but also doesn’t mean you’re any more of a person, and therefore doesn't mean you need any sort of special attention in the media so why are people so mad about it in the first place? While representation is what we have been asking for, the answer isn’t to drop random queer characters with no plot into existing stories, and it isn’t to just add in that an already existing character is all of a sudden gay. What we have been asking for, is representation, not a spectacle. Not something for people to pity, or to marvel at. Just show people being people, and that is it. 

A lot of people forget that representation in the media isn’t just putting a minority on a pedestal and going, “Hey! Look at this! We made this for you [insert minority here]!” But instead is the normalization of these minorities in the environments they are in. An example of terrible representation in animated media specifically, is the queer relationship between Korra and Asaami in ‘Avatar: The Legend Of Korra’. Neither of these characters are even hinted at being somewhat queer until the very last episodes, and even then calling it representation is a stretch. This is what some might call queerbaiting, which is loosely defined as baiting the queer community into thinking there will be representation in a show, and then not following through with those promises, or following through just enough to be worthy of a spot in the “Top 10 queer romances in animated history”. The moral gymnastics the people who make the decisions at these studios must have to do, to think that all people want for their representation is some vague hand holding in the last scene of a show, or in the case of the show Voltron, some flashbacks of a past relationship of a pretty prominent character and then outing him as homosexual. This example would have been fine, however, it was done in the second to last season of the show, indicating to viewers and people of the queer community in this fandom that this relationship, and this plot point was an afterthought to bait the already very queer fandom of the show into thinking that they would get at least a little bit of representation. To top it all off, the love interest for this surprise gay character was killed off in the first non-flashback scene that he starred in, so how’s that for enthusiasm. 

Queerbaiting isn’t all that goes on however, while a lot of queer representation is iffy at best, there’s still some crumbs here and there that show genuine thought of characters and their stories, as opposed to just saying that they’re queer and then not building on their character from there at all. One of these examples is the show Yuri on Ice. It is essentially a one season show about a former ice skater, who finds himself with no purpose after losing a tournament, and then being offered to be coached by his all time favorite ice skating idol. The show focuses on ice skating mainly, with a compelling plot, interesting side characters, and meaningful backstories, it’s essentially just like any other sports anime, with little bits of focus on the romance between these two male leads. It’s one of the best representations of queer relationships I’ve seen in animated media as it truly shows that queer people are just people. They have lives, and they have stories to be told, they can have opportunities and competition, just like every other non-queer character in media. 

Companies shouldn’t be creating queer characters for the sole purpose of gaining views, traction or being seen as woke or progressive in any way. If they want that oh-so sought after representation, they should be creating meaningful characters, with meaningful backstories, and interesting characteristics. Being queer isn’t a personality trait, or a buzz word for attention, it is just a way of life, and as much as big media companies might disagree, queer people aren’t spectacles, they are simply people. There’s really nothing special about queer characters in media, so why shouldn't there be more of them?

But as I am a woman, please disregard this.

Hello again! ^ ^ Trust me, if you were annoying or upsetting me in any way you'd know. For I am a god and this is my domain to create and share. My own enjoyment and comfort matters above all else. So I'll just say if something is too much.

Casey would have more protection than just some gear, a mask, and some sports equipment. Donnie making him some leather so it's easy to move but he's still protected as well as a full helmet. Casey only has so many brain cells, can't risk losing them to a blow to the head. Skates made especially for New York terrain.

Casey's weapons would at least be made of metal so they don't break as easily and it's easier for Donnie to repair them. As well as a few gadgets to help out. Like exploding pucks, flash bombs, a taser function, etc.

So a while back I mentioned them seeing each other on the roof while Casey was tutoring April right? This is not the actual moment of reunion. This is the moment Donnie panics because the life he barely remembers is now right in front of him. Donnie just isn't ready to face the past.

So Donnie whistles to warn Casey, jumps down, and starts running. Casey gives a quick "Sorry, gotta go!" before latching onto Donnie's back as he runs. Donnie Being a mutant can run faster even with Casey on his back. The others try to chased them. They may be ninjas, but Casey and Donnie know this city like the back of their hands.

This leads to the other turtles practically putting a target on Casey's back since they now know he's at least in contact with their brother. Casey's now dodging April too because DJ is freaking out thinking about meeting them but she keeps trying to follow him home since the turtles can't come out during the day. During school, she tries to ask a lot of questions about him, but Casey isn't breaking even if it is April.

Casey goes out on his own patrol to take out the frustration of being hunted and cornered like an animal on some petty criminals. It's at this point he runs into Raph. Casey thinks Raph found him looking DJ again. Raph doesn't even realize it's Casey under that helmet and just wants something or someone to take his anger out on.

Once Raph knocks Casey down he feels someone punch him hard enough in the face he's seeing stars. Raph looked up from where he landed on the ground to see an absolutely livid Donnie. Raph is feeling the fear only an upset Master Splinter is supposed to bring. Donnie looks like he's about to swing at Raph again but Casey is telling him to stop and pulling him away, trying to stop DJ from doing something he'll regret later.

Raph watched the two run off still in a daze realizing he messed up. He messed up bad.
