Steffan Powell: How is it being back, reunited with your old friend, the Dalek? David Tennant: Well they're not old friends. You know that. It's an old-style Dalek as well, which should be taking me back to my childhood more than when I was last on Doctor Who. It's like an old-school gray one from the 70's. This is very exciting for the fanboy in me. Scott Handcock [producer]: Do you know where this Dalek's come from, David? David: No where's the Dalek come from? Scott: Glasgow David: I felt a kinship to it. Scott: Crack the Dalek open, it's full of Doctor Who signatures. David: Oh! Have I signed it? Scott: Probably David: Awwwww!

Behind the Scenes of the 2023 Children in Need Special, Destination: Skaro - Part One

Excerpt from Doctor Who Unleashed:

Russell T. Davies [writer/showrunner]: There's a long, long, long tradition of Doctor Who appearing on Children in Need. This has turned out to be the first time anyone sees the new Doctor, the Fourteenth Doctor, the David Tennant Doctor, in his TARDIS, landing. Then once you add Mawaan [Rizwan] to that… that's a great pair to see him and David Tennant together. That's classic. Vicki Delow [producer]: It's been a whole year since we've had David Tennant on set, since we shot the specials, so it was really lovely seeing him again. It was as if no time had passed. He came in, he put the coat on, and away he went… again. And it was his birthday which was really lovely so we really embarrassed him and we sang him Happy Birthday.
