I think I am beginning to understand a major philosophical misunderstanding that a lot of conservative Christians have about people in the left.
In my observation there are some conservative Christians out there who believe that deconstructing certain beliefs or having a worldview that is not conservative is antithetical to the concept of “truth” itself. They stereotype people with other beliefs (especially leftist beliefs) as people who just believe whatever they feel like and truth doesn’t matter or even exist, so of course that supposed worldview doesn’t make sense to a conservative Christian.
I don’t know jack shit about “postmodernism”, but this seems to be what a lot conservatives think postmodernism is, and they seem to associate this philosophy with “leftism” 🤷🏼‍♀️ for some reason.
I don’t know if any of that makes sense, and I’m sure some conservatives are just willfully ignorant and like to “straw man” leftists by making them seem stupid, but there MUST be some way we can fight this narrative.
We NEED to get conservative Christians to understand that being against war, authoritarianism, poverty, prejudice, and environmental and public health destruction doesn’t make someone a weird, stupid person who doesn’t believe in the concept of absolute truth.
IDK what about fighting for justice and freedom for oppressed people looks like “not believing in truth” to them but what do I know? 🤷🏼‍♀️
All I know is that identifying as a more progressive type of Christian instead of a conservative one doesn’t necessarily make one’s theology “weak” or incompatible with truth. At what point are you just worshipping the concept of “truth” itself?

i'm honestly surprised at this point that right wing conservatives don't look at Exodus or movies about Exodus like The Prince of Egypt and call it Woke Communist Propaganda™ or s/t equally obtuse

The Communist Month of June
24. Eliminate all laws governing obscenity by calling them “censorship” and a violation of free speech and free press.
25. Break down cultural standards of morality by promoting pornography and obscenity in books, magazines, motion pictures, radio, and TV.
26. Present homosexuality, degeneracy and promiscuity as “normal, natural, healthy.”
27. Infiltrate the churches and replace revealed religion with “social” religion. Discredit the Bible and emphasize the need for intellectual maturity which does not need a “religious crutch.”
28. Eliminate prayer or any phase of religious expression in the schools on the ground that it violates the principle of “separation of church and state.”
~ “The Naked Communist,” by Cleon Skousen

A perfect reddit moment: A british parent makes a thread on r/LegalAdviceUK about how their son has been bullied and beated at his school, until he converted to Islam - basically, he was forced to convert. The parent made the thread asking for advice on what to do, since the school refused to do anything about it.
Reddit mods locked the thread under the excuse of hate speech

Venting
now don't get me wrong i'm not attacking anyone on here or there viewpoint in politics or religion i’m not trying to anything like that at all and i'm not trying to get political either in this post at all.
sad to say that everything must be political now with some people that are yelling the mouse about it and it’s very annoying it hearing every single time on the news and you have to think a certain way now with some people can we all just agree and disagree on some things and move on with our lives like a fucking human being should be doing but no certain individuals want to go around harassing everyone about it and then destroying someone lives for disagreeing with them for having a different viewpoint on the thing they're what they're talking about.
can we all shut up and just agree and disagree on things and move on please i'm tired of this i'm tired of hearing it i'm tired of how someone should just think like them at al times we don’t need children to get involved in that bullshit.

You have a computer that can access the internet of any dimension. You don't have the ability to physically go places, just to observe them and interact with them through this one machine.
Sometimes you'll just do it for fun. Seeing other timeline's versions of sites and the content that's created there. Getting to see work from artists if they hadn't sold out or moved on. Or getting to see what YouTube is like in a world where it never become corpratized. Or get to go on Vine in a world where vine exists in 2024. You've read writing from Shakespeare if he had been sent to the new world, seen stories from Lovecraft if he had unlearned his bigotry, seen experimental films from George Lucas if star wars had floppe, heard music from Kurt Cobain if he hadn't died young.
And you've gone off to weirder places to. You've seen what political discourse is like in a world where Constantine converted to Buddhism instead of chrsitianity, where that's the dominant religion of the west. And you'll see conservatives talking about how sjws are undermining the west's Buddhist values, or YouTube videos talking about chrsitantiy as this forgotten dead religion from the crisis if the third century. And you asked someone in the comments of that video what they thought a world would be like if chrsitanity survived, and they said it was impossible, that it was doomed to die out just because it did.
And you've talked to people from a world where humanity lives underground, where an apocalypse made the surface of the world uninhabitable, and every human on earth lives in massive subterranean complexes. You talked to them about what they wanted, if they wanted to see the sun, see the forests and the birds and the creatures that they knew were above them, and most of them didn't really want it. Most of them didn't really want to see the surface, they had grown up having never seen it, it didn't bother them, they were confused why anyone would be that committed to finally go somewhere that humans weren't. And there was one person who told you they did always really want to see it, that it's their hyperfixation, but that they'd obviously go back with the other humans if they had the chance, that they couldn't live somewhere without them.
And you've seen a world where humans where dead, where only robots and ai and cyborgs were still around. And even though they couldn't touch you, you were afraid, because you thought they would hate you. But they didn't, on every site where they talked about humans they talked about how cool you were, and how much aprication they had for their culture. And when you made a post asking if they'd want to hurt humans if they saw them, everyone who replied called you weird.
You've seen the internet in a world where cryptids and monsters are real. And you ended up on a forum for vampires. And you asked a newly turned vampire how they felt, and they said it was cold, that their body felt so cold, but it was still their body, and that they still wanted to live, still wanted to find a way to enjoy their life even if they didn't like their body.
And you've seen a world where all humans are completely aroace, and don't desire sex or romance at all. And you decided to upload sexual and romantic art, and even fetish art, to one of their sites. And the people there loved it, despite not understanding its purpose, they loved the way the artist depicted the world, saw it as so unique and strange, as something weirdly beautiful, and not at all gross, because nobody ever told them such things were gross.
And you've made online freinds from other worlds. People who you can never touch, never see, but who you see through their words. You've comforted someone who doesn't exist in your world, from a country that doesn't exist in your world, but you've comforted them, and made sure they don't get hurt or hurt themself, from very far away, because despite everything you can't help but care.
Mabye the internet isn't that bad. Mabye the world isn't all horrible. Mabye people aren't that bad.

To my knowledge, neither "the majority of atheists are right-wing" nor "the majority of New Atheists ended up becoming right-wing" are true. I think these statements came about by exaggeration and discourse telephone from an initial observation that a number of the most prominent atheist/skeptic YouTubers (among them TJ Kirk and Thunderf00t) took a noticeably right-wing/"anti-SJW" turn around the time of GamerGate.
Anyway, I've seen a few people on here dismiss the New Atheism/Alt-Right connection as entirely a product of the imagination of pro-religion discourses, trying to disparage atheism for a left-wing audience by linking it to the right. Obviously there was some of this, but people claiming this is the whole story are just incorrect. There really was a stark and sudden right-wing turn in YouTube skepticism around 2012 or so, I was there and remember it clearly. You can go back and check, the videos are all still up. This is the climate on the platform that early "breadtubers" like ContraPoints and Hbomberguy were explicitly reacting to.
Obviously this isn't a point against atheism or skepticism. I am an atheist and a skeptic.
I'm just pointing this out because I have seen what I basically think are attempts to revise the received narrative by parties who were not actually there, and although the received narrative (something like "New Atheism became the Alt-Right" or "New Atheism became subsumed into the Alt-Right") is in fact wrong, the revisionists are also plainly incorrect about a bunch of stuff.
I think this is related to the whole "I don't do video, I only do text" sentiment on here. You guys don't know what was going on with video cause you're hardcore textheads. That's fine, but most people aren't, and the stuff that was happening with video was a big deal. You've gotta account for that.

Where can we go from here? Gender-Critical Feminists, Radical Feminists and Our Political Moment
For years, Gender-Critical women have pushed far-right ideas under the guise of “radical feminism” pulling us into the culture war should feminists even bother to get ourselves out?
Hi all, I am starting to publish opinion pieces alongside my news roundups. These will typically be published on Wednesday, as my schedule permits me to write them, but I am too excited to share my first!
When I found myself at odds with “gender ideology” in college I, like many of the women reading this, lost a community of friends and colleagues alongisde a feeling of “belonging” within a certain sect of American society. I personally struggled to reconcile with the idea that the invert theory of homosexuality seemed to have found considerable purchase among progressive democrats who began to believe that access to “healthcare” to make gender nonconforming people more gender-conforming was an actual civil rights issue. Coming into consciousness as a woman and a lesbian for me, and so many other women, meant recognizing that neither the mainstream “right” or “left” party in the United States has an interest in elevating the status or addressing the material needs of the women who vote for it. It also meant recognizing that women have much less collative power than many of us realize. It can feel tempting, when feeling cast out and without allies, to look to the women who position themselves as leaders of the Gender-Critical movement as allies and to subsequently write off the way they ignore, parrot, and work with the far right as realpolitik, but is not.
The erosion of women’s rights is not just occurring from attacks on Title IX from Democrats and the cancellation of lesbians in q**r social circles it is also coming from draconian restrictions on women’s healthcare and the disturbing phenomenon of online trad wives. Gender-Critical Feminist leaders tell us that we must be “pragmatic” and work with the right, not only do we prove our critics correct, but we also tell women who are harmed by abortion restrictions and evangelical religion that their problems are not really a priority to us. We alienate scores of women who are victims of misogynistic violence and patriarchal control. We ensure that we will continue to be a puppet of the right in the future and damage our reputation and legacy. My issues matter, but they aren’t more important than a sister dying in a hospital in Texas because she did not have access to the healthcare she needed. The insistence by activists that it is not only tone-deaf but revealing of their priorities, which are transparently not feminist.
A look at the other political priorities of many Gender-Critical feminists reveals even more problems as they promote eco-fascism, dangerous carnivore diets, violence against immigrants, and advocate for “religious rights”. This has gone on for years, but at this particular political moment, with the right poised to take all the levers of federal power, it is becoming increasingly important for Radical feminists to push back. For too long some women have tolerated right-wing women in our spaces and our names under a sense of urgency and fear. Women have allowed them to “compromise” on reproductive rights, to be cruel to transgender people, and to ignore conservative attacks on women, people of color, and LGBT people. Isolated principled women have always pushed back against appalling racism, homophobia, and misogyny of “Gender-Critical” women like that online isn’t it time that we make a cleaner break? Clearly, with Republicans so firmly in control of so many levers of power, it is obvious to everyone that the worst aspects of “trans ideology” are dead. You can be sure though, that the legacy of “Radical Feminist” women who collude with the very people who should be their enemies, will not die in the minds of women as easily.
The end of the worst SJW excesses doesn’t mean we don’t still need radical feminism as an independent political force. We need activists creating a grassroots coalition of women so wide and so powerful that we don’t need to run after any and every alt-right woman and cultist who claims the title of “radical feminist” or tolerate their fiction that Donald Trump is some kind of warrior for women. There is no wider movement or patriarchal institution to turn to for protection. It is only we who can build liberation for ourselves, and only by creating a grassroots base of support can we hope to stem the tide of what will surely be another decade of reaction and restriction of women and maintain that into the future.
What will you do to stop this? Now that Republicans have power, will you fight for women harmed by their policies and the cultural institutions they promote? Or will you shrink back into your own life, happy to ignore all the women who will be harmed by their brand of regressive misogyny? Undoubtedly, I know the broader coalition I have been working with will eventually shift, from opposing the left to that of the right, but that will take time, and not only will much more damage already be done, but the masses of women will not be better educated about how and why this happens. We need feminist political education to get out of the cycle of reaction and overcompensation, women must understand no male can free her. We must make a grab at power for ourselves.

Tucker Carlson's interview with misogynist, human trafficker and rapist Andrew Tate has been endorsed by Elon Musk, the man who brought Tate among many other reactionary and far-right commentators back to Twitter when he purchased the platform.
There is nothing spontaneous about Musk doing this, and if you're surprised then you're a fool. This has never been about upholding free speech - hence why you've never seen any of these men promote interesting left-wing thinkers.
The ‘SJW’/‘woke’/progressive Left, as unbearably annoying as so many of them are, just keep getting proven right.
They said Nick Fuentes and Kanye were Holocaust-denying anti-semites.
They said Jordan Peterson supported rapists, and didn't believe women should have legal equality.
They said Ben Shapiro and Matt Walsh would use the gender critical movement to blame gay people and women for any and all degeneracies.
They said Tucker Carlson and Elon Musk's recent ‘free speech’ moves were about repositioning themselves so that they could more effectively elevate the voices of overt extremists.
Again and again, their accusations are ageing like fine wine. The reactionary right’s mask is well and fully off.
Andrew Tate, Elon Musk, Tucker Carlson, Jordan Peterson, Ben Shapiro, Matt Walsh, Joe Rogan, Konstantin Kissin, Paul Joseph Watson, Ian Miles Cheong, Andy Ngo, Michael Malice, Elijah Schaffer, Zuby, Milo Yionnopoulous, Tommy Robinson, Nick Fuentes, Kanye West, Donald Trump… obviously some of these men could dislike each other, I can't imagine Shapiro and Fuentes at the same house party.
But their ideal societies don't look too different. None of these mens’ do. Because any racial, religious or ethnic prejudices they have against each other will come second to their common-ground.
The organised reaction against this brand of progressivism that has rapidly come to monopolise every sector of public life in the last 10 years, is well and truly underway. Musk, Carlson and Tate have given us the sign. And while I pretty heavily dislike the current ‘woke’ progressive ideology (and have a lot of questions about its top-down cultural spread), I'm scared of these guys way more. And if you're anything but a straight man who doesn’t care about any demographic besides straight men, you should be too.
The reason I say ‘straight men’ and not ‘straight white men’ is because, come on, the reactionary right is more racially diverse than most left-wing groups at this point. 😂😂 White nationalists the world over have bent the knee to a mixed-race man who admitted moving to an Eastern European country because of their more lax laws on sexual assault, and in turn, the ease he would have in exploiting the local women in the country’s already active sex-trafficking trade.
White nationalists (whose role in the reactionary right cannot be discarded any more, after Trump and Kanye had a personal dinner with Nick Fuentes) feel more of an affiliation with a non-white, human trafficking violent rapist, despite evidence of his crimes having been public for a while now, than they do with his WHITE victims.
Jordan Peterson, whose daughter has revolved her entire public image around him, who works with and for him, and whose lingerie photographs were retweeted by him, made a dogwhistle in May about women having their right to vote retracted.
Examples of men devaluing the contributions and rights of the women in their families, communities and wider societies are withstanding the test of time, over and over again, because no matter where in the world they are, and no matter what tensions the different religions, cultures, ethnicities and races of men have with each other, there are traits that unite them all. Misogyny is the most obvious one.
The men of these diverse, far-reaching societies, in many ways feel far more of a kinship to each other, than they do to any woman, girl, gay person, disabled person, mother, child, or any other demographic.
The pendulum always swings back, and now that we know these men have got the owner of the world's biggest social media platform on their side, that is a major sign it could be coming soon. Be on guard and look after each other gyns ❤️
