helllooo its still the 4th for like 10 minutes my time so im doing it

this is a continuation from yesterday i think but can be read on its own for sure (sorry i have no idea how to link other posts) just know that the four of them are all on one bed at the Potters after the Run Away and Sirius just had a nightmare. so CW nightmares, referenced child abuse, and remnants of panic

“Hi, love,” Remus says softly—it’s so so soft and Sirius has never been more grateful, “You back with us?”

“Hi,” Sirius knows he has to say something, can still feel Remus taking measured breaths and James and Peter hovering carefully, quietly. “Hi, sorry, I’m here.”

“No apologies,” Peter whispers, “remember? Not for that stuff.” And James looks like he can’t speak but he wants to and Sirius looks at him fully, with wide eyes and thats what does it. He can only watch as his big (younger) brother’s face all but crumbles. He finds it within himself to reach out because he knows he needs to. After things like this, know James tries so hard to give him space and love and anything he could want. He knows James is not a creature of limited touch but he holds back, for Sirius. So he reaches outing pulls a small smile from nowhere when James looks up questioningly (hopefully). Peter smiles at Sirius, practically beams, when James tucks his head far into Sirius’ side and crushes his hands in between them. Sirius isn’t sure he’s comfortable but he’s also not sure that that’s the point of this arrangement so he lets James be.

“Pete?” Sirius questions, beckoning him to join with just that. It doesn’t take anything more and then they’re all curled up there. Remus doesn’t stop stroking his hair and Sirius can still feel his boyfriend’s heart beating hard and fast below his head even as his hands are steady and his breaths are deep. 

“You ok?” He says it softly, not wanting to startle the hastily formed calm of the night.

Remus chuckles, “Am I ok? Are you joking?”

“Tosser, I’m fine and my heart isn’t eh one thats about to run for the hills.”

Remus cringes, “Oof sorry, I was trying to get it under control.”

“No apologies,” Peter murmurs again, “remember? Not for that stuff.”

“Sorry Pete,” Remus replies, and is already starting to laugh at himself when Sirius pokes him.

“Idiot,” Sirius says fondly. “Seriously, I’m getting worried for your health.”

“Shut up,” And it’s sweet but soft enough that Sirius’ own heart twinges. No one comments on his pun-slip.

“It was just a dream, Moons.”

“It wasn’t though.” 

“It was, I’m here, I’m safe. You’re here, We’re all good.”

“You are, you are. We’re all good. But still, dreams.”

Dreams, Sirius thinks. “I’m here.” He repeats.

“None of you are related to me, are you?” He drawled. He had the same high, upper class accent that Peter and James had. Remus disliked them all at once, knowing that they’d think he was common – and a half blood, whatever that was.

“Don’t think so.” James replied, grinning, “James Potter.” He held out a hand again. The other boy shook it, easily,

“Oh good, a Potter. Dad told me not to talk to you.”
