Party Games.
Poly!Marauders x DiD!Reader enjoying their time with the gang.
Warnings: None :D just a butt load of fluff.
Words: 361
Tumblr media
“Never have I ever……”
“Remy, c-can I not play this one…”
Y/n had pulled him aside, evidently uncomfortable.
“What’s wrong?” James came over too.
“She doesn’t feel like playing,” Remus explained.
“Ngaw, baby… It’s just a game. Plus, no one will judge.”
Remus nodded in agreement.
Y/n didn’t wanna upset them by pushing her refusal further.
She sat down back where the others were, leaning on a semi-concerned Sirius.
“You okay?” He had asked.
“Mm.”
The laughs of Lily, Barty and the others rang through the room.
“Okay, okay. My turn,” Marlene said. “Never have I ever drunk called or texted someone in this room”
Barty, Sirius and even Regulus took a sip from their champagne filled glasses.
Y/n closed her eyes, she had never been drinking and only occasionally had alcohol at parties. It made her head all fuzzy sometimes, triggering the switching mechanism her brain had would be a hassle for her boyfriends in the end.
The following questions were irrelevant too. Y/n kept her eyes closed, not wanting to know who had made out with who before.
“I’m not being a kill-joy r-right?” she asked Sirius at some point.
He shook his head subtly and whispered a gentle “no” in her ear.
“Never have I ever wanted a dog growing up,” Said Sirius on his turn.
“Y/n turned to look at him. He was a little drunk, yes… but that one was entirely off topic.
She slowly took a sip from her still full cup and smiled when her boyfriend pranced around as a black dog, letting everyone who took a sip pat him on the head before returning to sit back next to her.
Y/n passed her turn, not having a topic in mind. She was starting to just enjoy the company at this point, relishing the joy in the room.
“Love, we’re gonna play truth or dare. Is that okay with you?” Sirius whispered.
She didn’t respond, fast asleep as she leaned on Sirius for support.
“Maybe it’s bedtime for the bunny, hm?” Remus smiled at the sight.
James looked at the time…
“I think it’s bedtime for us all.”

okay, one thing about james. he is the only marauder (casting peter aside) who i just can't forgive. i like remus, and while i dislike sirius i can at least appreciate his strenghts and his good sides. but i can't forgive james for the swm incident and many people seem to have trouble understanding why this isolated event ruins his entire character. because i am willing to believe that he worked on himself and became a better person after hogwarts (mainly because i don't think lily would have ever married him otherwise). i completely believe that even at hogwarts, he was considered a likable person by many. that he was fun to be around and friendly to most. that he wasn't all bad or only a bully.
but here's the thing. there are things you only have to do once to be irredeemable, and what happened in snapes worst memory, to me, is one of those things. i do not care if james was an amazing person outside of this one incident. and i understand that everyone has different morals and that other people can forgive james - or not forgive severus. unlike james, severus got a chance to redeem himself and he took it. he was still a bully, but here's where my personal perception comes into play again. i had many awful teachers who were bullies and i know how much it sucks (in my country, teachers are insanely hard to get fired, meaning they truly can get away with almost anything including obvious discrimination). i can't justify his mistreatment of students, but to me his good sides outweigh it, so i can forgive and like him despite this flaw while others can not which is valid too. but sexual harassment is not something i can forgive no matter the circumstances or the person who did it. i would feel the same way if the roles had been reversed and james had been the victim - i wouldn't be a snape stan. ultimately we all have our own individual morals that play into how we perceive these complex characters.
tldr: it doesn't matter to me if james was a balanced character and a good person outside of swm because committing sexual harassment 'just once' is still one time too many and makes anyone permanently irredeemable in my eyes

The star Sirius, α Canis Majoris // Spencer Collins
The name Sirius comes from the Ancient Greek word seirios, meaning "glowing" or "scorcher". It may also have an etymological connection to the Egyptian god Osiris.

“its was always so odd to me how ppl made sirius into small petit fem prince and remus into big strong boy”
NO Sirius Black does what he wants, dresses how he wants, wears his hair however he likes. He also can’t help that he’s 5’8 okay? Defying the stereotype doesn’t make him feminine or makes him abide by a ‘hetero’ agenda.
Remus Lupin is tall and lanky and literally a werewolf??? So I think it’s okay for people to characterise him as a little muscular okay? He’s needy and nerdy and fumbly and angry TO ME.
Also they aren’t real?? They are fictional characters who we’ve adapted into a diverse narrative. They don’t belong to me or you. And honestly some of us will project things onto characters because we want some comfort or to work through something ourselves.
So if I decide to make Sirius a booty skirt wearing, eyeliner, glitter, crop top bitch that’s up to me. If I want Remus to be 6’8 and a jock and a whore - that’s up to me! If, for example, this is how someone chooses to explore a sexuality in a way that they haven’t personally or previously? Let them!!!
I’m not saying we should perpetuate stereotypes or push an agenda - but if it isn’t hurting anyone and it’s not content that you’d like to engage with, then please just look away.

You mentioned in your post about the war of the roses and the snape/marauder dynamics that James chose to wash snape’s mouth out for cursing because he found that behavior uncouth, but in your fic you have James and Sirius use more explicit language. Do you think that James just finds it uncouth coming from snape’s mouth? Is it a class thing? Or does he just not like swearing? Love that fic btw!
thank you very much for the ask, anon! and thank you for the shoutout to the war of the roses!
now, let's be frank, the reason why the fic contains more explicit language than the canon text is because i don't need to get it past the censors in a children's literature publishing house. order of the phoenix has to keep it vague - snape's "stream of mixed swear words and hexes" - in a way which allows there to be a bit of ambiguity about what exact language is being used to offend james so much. i - on the other hand - can have snape call a cunt a cunt.
but yes, it's also class-based hypocrisy.
which is to say, it's the result of classic in-group vs out-group stuff - in which a behaviour is fine when it's done within the group [when it's done by us], but unacceptable when it's done outside of the group [when it's done by them] or across group lines [when it's done to us by them].
a real-world example would be how men are generally happy to use cruder or less polite language when in an all-male group, without the use of this language being understood as indicating negative character traits like crudeness or rudeness on the part of any of the men within the group.
[what it indicates, instead, is masculinity.]
a woman who joins the group and uses the exact same language, on the other hand, is likely to be perceived as crude, rude, or coarse.
the tone and register of language - and accents, dialects, and so on, which fall under this umbrella - is a really key aspect of the maintenance of divisions between social classes in a hierarchical system. it's not that the language being used is unrecognisably distinct between different class-groups, it's that the class groups at the top of the pile are able to discriminate against those lower down by deciding to categorise their language as indicating something negative, while regarding their own as neutral/positive.
and so james and sirius can understand their use of vulgar language as only taking place within a set of parameters which make this language acceptable. in contrast, they see snape as always existing outside of these parameters. they are sophisticated, and their language simply adds colour to their witty conversation. he is ill-bred and worthy of censure.
[this - as an aside - is part of what lily's talking about when she says that james is "as bad as" snape is. she's not saying that james' bullying of snape is equal - or lesser - in severity than any attacks snape launches on james, nor is she saying that james messing up his hair etc. is equivalent in terms of offensiveness to snape calling her a mudblood, and nor is she saying that she thinks james needs to dispense with his hatred of snape. what she's saying is that james is a hypocrite - that he justifies his behaviour to himself with the idea that it's for some great, acceptable reason and castigates his victims' behaviour as unacceptable - and what she's asking him to do isn't to suddenly become sweetness and light, it's to - as sirius puts it - "deflate his head" and stop pretending he's some sort of righteous legend. she doesn't mind him being a prick, she just wants him to be an honest one.]

my collected thoughts on the magic system of harry potter and what I would change to make it better.
i think that the harry potter magic system sucks!!
i mean, im sure this isnt a hot take but like...how is it that students at hogwarts school of WITCHCRAFT and WIZARDRY graduate knowing how to use maybe a handfull of spells in combat? and they're the same spells that all the aurors and all the older members of the order and all the death eaters and even voldemort use?
and im especially talking about how weak it makes people who are supposed to be really powerful and dangerous seem. including the titular character Harry Potter himself. Harry uses spells in a unique way, dont get me wrong, but to me its all just so boring.
and im not saying it doesnt have to work like other fantasy stories, but if the main mechanism behind magic in harry potter is that you are either born with it or not, you dont need a wand but its exponentially more challenging without one (unless you have a unique skillset or education), intention matters, and there are spells that can grant magical abilities to objects. there is so much more possibility than just expelliarmus and expecto patronum. There has to be, or else why tf would hogwarts take 7 years of schooling to graduate from?
so here are some of my headcanons:
families have bloodline abilities
so, in the case of wizarding britan, there are families that want to stay pure such as the sacred 28 (or is it 27 i cant remember), and pure as in their blood and bloodline must stay pure (going so far as to marry your cousins, e.g. Orion and Walburga Black). If this is the case, and they wan't to preserve their magical bloodline so bad, they'd have to have something more than just "magic" to preserve.
I feel like its almost there in canon but falls short of being fully realized. I think of it kinda like how it works in naruto. Theres those who have a bloodline ability and then those that dont. You dont have to have one to be powerful, if you have one it dosent mean you will be powerful automatically.
The black family seems to carry the gene for metamorphmagus, but i wouldnt consder this a bloodline ability and think of it more like a random mutation passed on to teddy, which could occur in any magical person, (theres also the possibility that this was a more common ability in the black family but because of the lack of genetic diversity and inbreeding it was lost until Andromeda had Remadora with Ted, who was not pureblood. I think abilities have to do with the energy of magic that is either created or inherited, not so much genetics. Therefore, families dont pass on the same exact ability but something that is novel or slightly different from person to person.
The Lupins, for example, could be Beast Speakers. Maybe, a long time ago in the Lupin familiy, they kept wolves or something (explaining the surname which would have had something to do with occupation) and they learned from them how to speak with animals?Lyall, who canonically worked in the Department for the Control and Regulation of Dark Creatures, can speak to dark creatures, even werewolves who are transformed. Remus can speak to domesticated animals like cats and dogs, fancy mice, toads, etc. Remus is like Hogwarts' unofficial vet tech, and if you like atyd Remus, this fits in nicely as he specialized in Care of Magical Creatures.
The Potters, canonically, are linked to the Peverell family. The invisibility cloak has been passed down through generations and is still being passed down to Harry's children. I think a common headcanon, and one that i truly love, is that they use Death Magic. But, thats assuming the potters are the exact same family as the Peverells, which they are not. I think, in going along with the Peverell brothers creating the deathly hallows (using advanced death magic), the potters have a Sorcerer's Craft ability. What was the Potter family's source of new money? Fleamont's invention, Sleekeazey's. I know its a "potion", but what if its just like...coconut oil imbued with magical enchantments that make your hair perfect. James could have played a major hand in the creation of the Marauder's Map, an Extremely powerful magical object made to do the impossible task of mapping Hogwarts. And he did this in school. at like 14-15. Harry doesn't do anything that has to do with magic item creation, that I can remember (i haven't read the books in years), however he also had no connection to his family and likely wouldn't be able to learn without another Potter teaching him. BUT! Harry Potter is the master of death, meaning he can use all 3 of the deathly hallows without being corrupted, maybe this could be a side effect of how his Sorcerer's Craft manifests itself.
side tangent, but the reason I think this is an ability even though others have been known to make magical objects, is because the potters are able to do it very creatively, and early on in their lives. They are involved in every aspect of item creation, and they can enchant things in a way no other wizard could replicate, meaning their objects could not be mass produced without their explicit involvement. Maybe Sleekeasy's stops working so well once Fleamont dies, hence why Hermione says its too much hassle to use every day.
The Blacks, you might think, would be something to do with offensive, powerful, and deadly magic. While, yes, this is something that some members of the black family are gifted in, it is not their bloodline ability. I think that the Blacks are Seers. It's no coincidence their families long standing tradition of astrological names are prophetical for their lives. Walburga Black, for example, has the power of Augery. She asks the universe questions and receives omens as answers. She saw a black dog when asking the universe to tell her about her newborn son, hence the name Sirius. For Regulus, well, she saw water. Not knowing what to make of it, she refused to let Regulus near it for his entire childhood. Regulus, as an empath, has the ability of psychometry. The ability to gain information from an object by touching it, including humans ( he cant read minds, but can tell what someone has experienced in their life). This comes in great handiness when he goes to destroy the locket. Sirius, I believe, would have a mastery over tarot cards or oracle cards. He can glean deadly accurate readings, and has a keen ability to interpret meanings unknown to even the most practiced tarot readers. He has a special deck, one that his uncle Alphard gave to him when he found out Sirius could read tarot from Walburga (who, at the time, was very pleased with her Heir's ability). This comes with an emotional expense to Sirius, though, and at times, gives him answers he doesnt want to hear. The girls loved it though, and asked him to teach them. He tried but couldn't explain how he did it, since it's innate to his bloodline. Of course, you could obviously imagine this adding to the piles of angst surrounding the war, as Sirius had to have seen signs that his loved ones would die, making him think he could outsmart fate by changing the secret keeper...
I think this is getting too long, but I'm already thinking about part 2 because I have alot of thoughts about this...especially things that anyone could learn not just inheritied abilities.

Could you do a fic where y/n has did, but it doubting themselves and convincing themselves they don't have it? Or just more fics with did. I love reading them but I can't find very many
ok.. so this rotted my brain a little and ended up becoming maybe quite long :D srry in advanced for all the DID terms and such :3 pt 2 will come soon I promise.
Help.
part 1 || part 2 || part 3
Marauders x Y/n but she realises something a little different about herself and the insecurity starts to build.
Warnings: A small bit of yelling, mostly fluff...and a few big words :D
Words: 718
Tumblr media
It was subtle at first…
“H-Huh? What do you mean potion class was yesterday?”
“How did I end up here again?”
Then the voices, occasional laughs no one else could hear—
“Siri, I'm h-hearing things again…”
Remus heard from across the room. “Again bunny?”  “That's not good, maybe we should talk to a professor about it?” Sirius suggested.
Y/n refused…… refused to alert the professors of her anomaly, refused to admit it was hindering her ability to function—
Refused to admit it bothered her a lot.
“I told you about the party three times already… What do you mean ‘I never mentioned anything about a party’??!”  James put a hand on Sirius's shoulder at the sight of Y/n tensing up. “Calm down Pads, there's no need to yell.
Sirius took a deep breath, “I just… d-don't understand, love.”
……I don't understand either.
* * *
“I think I found an answer,” Remus said when they were hanging out in the boys’ room one day.
“An answer?” asked James.  “To Y/n’s sudden… forgetfulness.”
“And the voices?” Y/n couldn't stop herself from blurting.  Remus smiled to himself proudly, “And the voices, bunny.”
“You found the cause, Moons?” Sirius walked over to the boy whose nose was deep into his book, ruffling Remus’ light brown hair.
“It's called Dissociative Identity Disorder…”
“Disso- Wh-What?” Y/n couldn't catch the word.
“A character in this book has it… He's very detached sometimes and he tends to forget events he and his friends witnessed; so kind of like you, bunny.”
“D-Detached? D-Do I-?” James nodded at Y/n’s question. “Sometimes, baby.”
“He talks to himself occasionally too,” Remus added about the character’s description. “The protagonist thinks it's schizophrenia, but the narrator says it's cause of the voices in his head–”
“Imma stop you there, Moony,” Sirius butt-in as he saw the slight panic growing in Y/n's eyes.  “For one, how do we know if this ‘identity disorder’ thing isn’t something the author made up, and two, if our bunny actually has it. Additionally if so, what do we do about it?”
Sirius made a valid point, yet all Y/n's mind could cling on to was how accurate Remy’s fictional character resembled the things she was experiencing.
“Baby, you okay?” James put a steady hand around her waist.
Y/n blinked a few times, bringing herself back to the present.
“Y-Yeah, I'm good,” she assured her three worried looking boyfriends. “C-Can you write the d-disorder down for me Remy? I think I'll hit the library.”
“Why don't we pay the library a visit together? I'm down to crack this case,” said Sirius, eager to get started.
“Sirius Orion Black wanting to visit the library?” James gasped sarcastically. “Never heard of it,” beamed Remus.
Y/n giggled, “Okay, okay. You guys can come too.”
* * *
Digging deeper into this so-called ‘Dissociative Identity Disorder’, there were subdiagnoses like OSDD: Other Specified Dissociative Disorder or just amnesia itself could be a possibility.
Y/n's boyfriends all had their heads wrapped around learning things like multiple personalities, dissociative amnesia, headspace theory, and even causes of DID.
“I d-don't even have ‘alters’......"
"Guys, it's not so important, we can just let it slide you know…” Y/n mumbled, hating the silence of endless research.
“Plus Jamie, you have a match against Hufflepuff tomorrow… Shouldn't you practice?”
“You're right,” James remembered. “I do have a match…”
Remus shrugged, “Go ahead Prongs, we don't mind.”
James said a quick thanks before hurrying off. Y/n turned to look at Sirius. The black haired was sprawled on the library table, snoring softly.
Was never a bookworm that man, unlike Remus.
“Rem, I think we should leave it,” Y/n said to him as he asked yet another ‘are you experiencing this’ question.
“We just wanna help you figure this out bunny…”
“I know… But it's not really a big deal and it's probably just me being forgetful and a touch of sleep deprivation anyways. Look, even Siri’s fast asleep… At least take a break, love?”
“Alright.”
It wasn't that Y/n didn't trust her significant others, nor was it really because she was tired. All she wanted was to shut off all possibilities that she could actually be mentally unstable, to make sure she wasn't being a walking ‘waste of time’.
Yet...
She couldn't shake the bugging thought that this whole thing was somehow a facade......
A trick her mind had orchestrated for attention...
...what?
