current obsession: prevos & evos that existed in the spaceworld demo, were scrapped, and then went on to be included in later games
Jaranra: Tangela had both a pre-evolution named Monja, and this form that it evolved into at level 44. The name comes from Tangela's Japanese name Monjara, from a word meaning "densely covered in thick hair." (If you're curious, Tangrowth's Japanese name is Mojumbo, coming from Monja and jumbo.)
Both Jaranra and Tangrowth have the same general premise of "what if the vines got bigger and covered EVERYTHING." Tangrowth has only the eyes showing, while Jaranra only shows its mouth. That's upsetting omg. But ultimately this is probably the one closest to its final design.
Shibirefugu: was planned to evolve from Qwilfish at level 18. Name essentially means "numb pufferfish." It's a pure Water-type, so I'm not sure why it has a lightning bolt on its head. It has basically nothing in common with Overqwil.
Baririina: pre-evolution of Mr. Mime, evolves at level 15. Name is a fusion of "Barrierd" (Mr. Mime's Japanese name) and ballerina. Notably, it is a Normal-type, not a Psychic-type. (Mime Jr.'s Japanese name, Manene, comes from a word for mimicry.)
The choice to make Mr. Mime a dancer in the Galar region seemed odd at the time, but I suppose it goes back further than I thought! Though it gives us a source for that connection, it has very little in common with Mime Jr.
Madaamu: evolves from Farfetch'd at level 24. Obviously, the name comes from "madame," though I can't figure out how that name connects with Kamonegi. Overall this Pokémon has very little in common with Farfetch'd or Sirfetch'd, though it is kind of funny that the two evolutions are essentially Sir and Madame.
Nameeru: evolves from Lickitung at level 32. Name comes from a verb meaning "to lick," and is notably unconnected to Lickitung's Japanese name Beroringa. (Lickilicky stays closer to its prevo with the name Berobelt.)
There are some interesting similarities between Nameeru and Lickilicky - both have a swirl on their head, and patterns on their body (Nameeru has circles across its body, while Lickilicky has the weird internet-connection-looking stripes on its stomach). Poor Nameeru's tongue is so long that's constantly dragging on the floor, and rolled up like a scroll. Lickilicky's tongue isn't quite that big, it more juts out of its face. And why does Nameeru have a moustache? So many questions about the development of this Pokémon.
Riifi: evolves from Eevee after being exposed to a Leaf Stone. Kind of ironic that Leafeon originally didn't evolve by Leaf Stone, but now does in some games because they got rid of the moss rock mechanic. Name obviously comes from "leafy." Leafeon's Japanese name is extremely similar, with just a single kana added: "Riifia" or Leafia.
You can really see influences of this design on Leafeon - they both have stray leaves that stick off their legs, and leaves for ears and tails. Riifi seems a bit more, for lack of a better world, feral - it's all-green, all leaf, while Leafeon has a tan body that makes it look more mammalian. Overall Leafeon's design fits in better with the rest of the Eeveelutions, but I appreciate the untamed naturalness of Riifi.
Farfetch’d
Name: Farfetch’d is a snappy and memorable name, but it never made much sense to me when applying it to this Pokemon in particular.
It’s called Farfetch’d because it’s so rare that the concept of seeing or capturing one is far-fetched. It’s like how Chansey’s/Lucky’s name reflects its encounter and capture rate. Farfetch’d in reality are rare but not THAT rare. So it just seems…
Farfetch'd Finally Gets His Due in Pokémon Sword & Shield
Farfetch’d Finally Gets His Due in Pokémon Sword & Shield
As someone who has been playing the Pokémonseries since it came to the West, I’ve grown rather fond of the strange ones, most notably duck pokémon Farfetch’d. There’s just something really appealing to me about the derpy and weird creatures in this series. And how can you not love Farfetch’d? He’s a duck that uses a leek stalk as a weapon. That’s beautiful on so many levels. But Farfetch’d always…
I'm hoping for starter evolutions and maybe giving us another Gym Leader or two.
Interestingly, someone did call the date right, but as they "predicted" stuff that had already been revealed by then, it's likely they just took a lucky guess, so take with a grain of salt:
The text in case it's too small in the attached image reads:
Pokémon Sword and Shield Leaks Anonymous Sat 17 Aug 2019 14:46:59 No.39737782
a brand new trailer is set to be released on Wednesday, September 4th. some interesting stuff will be shown.a new ability called Neutralizing Gas will be introduced and is exclusve for Galanan Weezing as the name suggests, it will neutralize all the abilities of the pokemonthat are in battle.
Ponyta, Natu, Hoppip, Aipom and Farfetch'd are all going to have a Galarian Form. Galarian Farfetch'd also evolves in Sirfetch d which is a swan inspired Pokémon that uses, exactly like Farfetchd, a spring onion to fight. Galarian Ponyta is a pure Fairy type who gains the Flying type when evolved in Rapidash. Galarian Hoppip, Skiploom and Jumpluff are all going to be Grass and Ghost instead.Charizard, Blastoise, Venusaur, Kommo-o, Tyranitar, Hydreigon, Aerodactyl, Volcarona and the fnal stages of the starters are all getting a Gigantamax Form.
Rolycoly gets two more stages and evolves into Rolyrace starting at level 25, which evolves into Rolymotive when traded. Eldegoss evolves into Fleurdegoss, a Grass and Poison Pokémon who has a similar design to Whimsicott. I cant remember Wooloo's evos names but I can cofirm that it has two stages as well and evolves into a mountain ram. Both Duraludon and Drednaw are single stages.
You start your adventure in Plockton Town which gets the name form a real-existing, small village in Scotlandthe second stages of the starters are called: Raboot, Rhytmape and Sizzile. I dont remember the final stages except for Grookey's, which is called Bangorilla.
There is no Pokémon Direct scheduled for the end of this month but some new trailers will be eventualy shown at Pokémon Worlds.
Here’s a fan art of mine that I drew last night, and digitalized today, featuring Gloria wearing a replica of Nessa’s outfot, looking sexy, with Ch’ding the Sirfetch looking all smug in it’s glory!!!
I played as the female in both copies of Sword and Shield is because I love this character!!!
Sword: David
Shield: Selene
Anyways, as I beated Nessa in a battle and before I met Rose in a seafood restaurant, I changed into this outfit, and my gwad she looks hwat! 😍😍😍
And when I caught Galarian Farfetch’d, and leveled it up to get it with the same level as my teams, and at Galar mine 2, setted up focus energy and swept his team, landing 4 crits in a row, which made it evolve into a Sirfetch’d without a single level up, and boy he is the crit machine with/without focus energy. Also, Ch’ding is about to be my rival against my starter Intelleon, nicknamed; Yuki Takeyama.
Sirfetch’d is the physical version of the recently deceased Kingdra. (Not counting it’s replacement Intelleon due to uts Hidden Ability Sniper is not available yet.)

If you liked this fan art, then please, make sure to leave a like/reblog, and a nice comment as appreciated!
Hey! Thank you for the shiny sirfetch! :D I'm breeding for a shiny galarian slowpoke; heal ball, own tempo ability, with egg moves belly drum, stomp, and bleach. If I happen to get an extra would you want one for cloning purposes?
You’re welcome and no thank you I appreciate the gesture tho
what do you think of the scrapped farfetch'd evolution madame compared to sirfetch'd?
It’s has a cool feel, a royal swan with a funny leak. But in the end I do prefer Sirfetch”d as it’s a better fusion of elegant, cool, and stupid. Plus the leak sword and shield just fit perfectly for me
Send me a Pokémon Type and I’ll make a Team for my muse using only Pokémon of that type.
You’ll see a couple of them that are from the steel type but since they were also typed as fighting, I thought it would work. The Sirfetch’d Harmony has is female, so that is how she got her name. The name seems fitting.
