@beefrobeefcal fully pressured me into wip Wednesday. Oh here go hell come.

Beefro is in her office, surrounded in darkness and an upsettingly large nail polish collection. Waffles and Fry sit on her lap. The Wagon is curled up at her feet. Scootypuff screams at Mr. Beefcal as tears roll down his cheeks.

Beefro’s eyes are rimmed red, and dry because she’s forgotten to blink. Like a witch completing her spell, she places the final touches on her latest Canva project, and she wears a twisted smile. She can’t help but laugh maniacally. In the distance, a child cries. Tornado sirens sound. The wind roars like a freight train, and the air smells foul, heavy with smog, as the sky above splits open. The ground trembles, trembles…

Shadows flicker between lights, amorphous figures of darkness as they stalk. Car alarms wail, their cries overlapping in the pure chaos. Above, the clouds twist around each other, unnaturally black, blue, purple and green, liked bruised skin. They swirl like ink spilled in water. The horror. The violence.

A metallic sound. A bell, a gong, perhaps a raccoon smacking a dumpster with a pipe. It repeats at irregular intervals, taunting, until it stops entirely, leaving an eerie quietness in its wake. The stillness. Too quiet, too calm. Only for a moment.

“Beefro…no…” a voice cries.

“Shut up. You’re not my real dad.”

i haven't been sharing much but i wrote this scene yesterday and i liked it sooo... here it is!

Eddie's eyes flutter and his gaze catches in the way his fingers are grabbing at Buck's shirt, holding on to him with a vicious grip. Like Buck's his lifeline.

He listens to the sirens coming from the street, the heavy steps of Peacekeepers and someone shouting orders.

The tributes, the realization bubbles inside of him.

He looks again at Buck's wide, scared eyes and frowns. Why didn't you escape? Eddie wants to say but the pain is now too much and when he opens his mouth only a groan and some pitiful whimpers manage to escape. Careful fingers brush some hair out of Eddie's forehead. Medics pick their way over the rubble and run for the wounded.

“It’s okay,” Buck whispers. “Help is here.”

Eddie blinks, tears slowly falling down his cheeks and neck and to the ground.

Hands reach for him, settling him onto a stretcher.

"You'll be okay. Shhh, we'll be okay." Buck repeats, his hands slowly prying open Eddie's fingers and making him let go of his shirt.

He thinks maybe it's because there's another stretcher waiting for Buck but as the medics carry him off, he sees a Peacekeeper roughly tackle Buck to the ground, forcing him into his stomach as they kneel on his back.

"Wait, s-stop." Eddie protests weakly but then he feels a pinch on his arm, the pain fading to a slight ache and his eyes close against his will.

Don't hurt him. It's the last thought he has before he succumbs to the darkness.

WIP Wednesday

I wasn't able to carve out much time to write this week, but have been able to work on a few things a little at a time:

1. Safest with You, Series Finale. This one is slow going (there's a bit of an emotional build that I'm stuck on, but will keep plugging away at it). I don't think I will share too much from this WIP before I post - but those who have been so patient with me: thank you and please rest assured that I am working on it.

Finally, Din stands and rises to his impressive full height, looking at you pleadingly with soft, unsure eyes; he starts to slowly move closer, one gentle footstep a time - as if afraid to spook you.

2. Frankie Morales WIP for @auteurdelabre's Trope-Off Challenge - I'm not going to lie, I'm going to try very hard not to be late for this one, but I don't know if I will succeed 🫣 For Frankie, what trope could I choose but "Fish Out of Water"?? Teehee 🤭

Frankie brings the axe down repeatedly with precision and power.  His sweat soaked shirt is stretched taut across his broad back, the damp fabric doing nothing but accentuate the thick muscles that flex and ripple with every burly movement.

Though Frankie’s breathing is heavy, you can tell he isn’t even close to being winded - his strength and rugged athleticism evident by the way he relentlessly labours on, splitting log after log.

Every subsequent swing of the axe hypnotizes you deeper; a wetness pools in your mouth that you have to force yourself to swallow, lest it spill over and you get caught drooling.

"Wanna give me a hand, City Girl?"

“Frankie!  Come try these Fuji apples!”

Your sing-songy voice snaps him out of his daze and siren calls him to you.  Smile warm and wide, you feed him an apple slice sample from the stall after he jogs over.  Frankie never thought he would be the type of person who would know about different apple varietals, but now, if someone were to ask, he could confidently declare his favourite type of apple to be the Fuji.  He sees some apple juice from the crisp fruit still in your hand roll down your wrist and he has to physically fight off the urge to lick it clean.  When you hold out your arm so Mac can do it, Frankie thinks he might actually be jealous of a dog.
