in my humble opinion as someone with multiple cluster b disorders including bpd, the aim shouldn't be to "cure" it at all, because trauma cannot be cured and this is not an attainable goal, which sets an unfair precedent for us ourselves as victims of the disorder. the aim should instead be to heal and rehabilitate to a point where you can cope with the behaviors you've developed that are connected to the trauma. healing will happen, but the desire to "cure" all "sick" people is not a helpful stance to have and is way more damaging than it is helpful. hurt people don't need to be "cured" so much as just understood and helped. "curing" us is very much a medicalized idea that bases a person's worth on their ability to function. you and your struggles will always be valid, whether you heal or not, whether you're "cured" or not <3

Trauma IS hard. But not everyone who has experienced trauma also has DID/OSDD. If trauma was the unifying factor here, why would so many people who have PTSD or have otherwise experienced abuse or traumatic events be ableist and shitty about systems? Who do you think is more likely to support you as a system: a singlet who has experienced trauma and knows NOTHING about DID/OSDD other than what they've seen from books/movies/etc (which is most people), or another system who happens to have been formed through means other than trauma?

Also not everyone who has DID/OSDD even wants to call themselves a system, so yes, systemhood IS an identity -- because even people with DID/OSDD can choose what terminology/framework they identify with.

"Plural" is an inclusive descriptor. Even only looking at people diagnosed with DID/OSDD-- it would be incorrect to call them systems if they don't consider themselves systems, while "plural" is a better way to include people with DID/OSDD who don't identify as systems but understand they are multiple people/facets/alters/parts/whatever.

That last part, the plurality, is the only thing that everyone with DID/OSDD have that makes it possible to understand each other. Traumatized people without DID/OSDD are not going to understand. But plural people without DID/OSDD might.

As a last note, incorrectly defining endogenic as a "system without trauma" means you don't understand trauma. There are many types of trauma people often experience without realizing. Medical trauma, religious trauma, trauma from the fucking COVID-19 pandemic-- the list goes on. I'm not sure anyone can really go through life without experiencing trauma at one point or another. Which would mean "systems without trauma" probably don't exist, sure-- but that's not the definition of endogenic. Endogenic systems just become systems first and may experience trauma later.

So nope, the trauma isn't what makes you special. Guess again.

I propose ShellFern propaganda for being Moonpaw's new parents: imagine how the clans would take the first "half clan" kit being born since the new rule being instilled being this really special kid with a really unique appearance. Some would absolutely take it as a sign for this being good, others it being a sign of the devil Dark Forest and both sides would be using her as "proof that the new law is good/bad". A whole ass other storyline for others going on that Moonpaw is unaware of while the main story is unfolding.

They DID tease in the article that she could be a force for good or for evil. If they actually do something with that, I could have the cats in other Clans have opinions about this, be passively speculating about what Moonpaw will turn out to be. We will also be having insight with Tawnypelt and Waspstar (replacing Leafstar in BB) into the goings-on outside of ThunderClan as well...

i loved episode 17 but im gonna be so honest, i'm kind of disappointed that they're probably never gonna discuss evil paper again. when brian teased it i thought, "oh, maybe they're gonna revisit him and flesh him out more so he's a better representation of did and explore how alters like him often form to protect the body in some way. maybe he'll come back and protect paper from mephone x somehow", kind of like how invitational took the time to explore yin-yang more and make them a more respectful portrayal of did systems. but nah, we just get a jab at how evil paper was "reductive" and nothing else. i know i shouldn't have gotten my hopes up and the crew probably think it's for the best that he stays gone (understandable), but man..... missed opportunity :^(

Okay but like, canon au where Dirk is actually plural. Hal is an alter, but they're just about to hit true awareness when Dirk makes that brain capcha, so Hal still firmly believes that he's also Dirk when he's in the shades. Dirk's had suspicions, but Hal has no idea because of amnesia barriers.

The strange, almost indescribable feeling of being empty and deprived of something before you even knew you had it with you. Them feeling that. Hal gets a body eventually, and its wonderful that they can touch each other and be together in the same space separately, but they are constantly missing the absolute intimacy of feeling each others thoughts and emotions. Neither of them can communicate very well, so they just make do with clinging to each other like koalas and pressing their foreheads and temples together on bad days. Closest they can ever get to sharing a brain again. In an ideal world they'd have both, but they can't. It's one or the other

Btw, may I ramble/rant about Stranger for a bit? Imma ramble about Stranger for a bit.

Most posts I see on them seem to be about the facets of Stranger audibly disagreeing with each other, and talking at different turns, when, like, that’s not how they work?

Even in their own route, when they all mesh together, they talk in unison — yes, their tones and their predominant emotions are different, but they all have the same goal — and all ask the same things (“Did you do this? Did we do this? Can you pull us back apart?”), and in the Stranger ending variant, they always refer to themselves as a collective, they work as a group — a system! — and when they talk, they talk for all of them.

Not to mean they don’t have disagreements within themselves, I imagine they very much do, but I think those are mostly dealt with internally — much like the Shifting Mound will spend their time in introspection, getting to know each vessel you give them individually, and waiting till their complete so that they can all figure out their goal as a unity.

Anyway, do y’all think Stranger would take up on sewing so that they can make clothes that’ll fit them and also personalize it to each alter’s taste?
