Puck and Ophelia - Hospitalized together
It was late autumn in Del Sol Valley, and the weather was getting colder. Most sims are excited to celebrate Thanksgiving and later Christmas. But to Ophelia and Puck, that weather isn't so wonderful because they are both asthmatics. Ophelia was dizzy all the time, and Puck often had shortness of breath.
Puck: I can’t breathe. I think I’m gonna pass out...
Luckily, The Bentley 8 household has a genius doctor: Their friend and co-leader, Dirk Dreamer. He certainly knows what to do to his patients, a good listener, and one of the nicest doctors in Del Sol Valley.
Puck took a taxi by himself to the hospital, because the other Bentley 8 members were at work. He didn’t even tell Angela about it.
Dirk: Okay, I can see you wheezing and having shortness of breath, Puck. Looks like you’re having a relapse.
Puck: So, what’s wrong with me? *cough* This is worse than usual. *wheeze*
Dirk: You’re having an asthma attack, Puck. I think you should be hospitalized.
Puck: I don’t want to.
Dirk: Don’t worry, you’ve been through this before. If you don’t get any observations, you will get lung damage. Please, I care about you. Think about Bentley 8 and Preston as well.
Puck: *reluctantly nodded*
When Dirk got home, Ophelia coughed and wheezed a lot near him. She also had difficulty breathing.
Dirk: Are you okay, Phi? Where’s your inhaler?
Ophelia: I used it the entire day and it didn’t work.
Dirk: I guess I have to take you to the emergency room as well.
Finally, Puck and Ophelia were treated in the same room because the hospital was full.
Puck: I can’t believe both of us have an attack at the same time but also treated in the same room.
Ophelia: Yeah. Nice but sucks, isn’t it?
Puck: Since when did you have asthma, Phi?
Ophelia: I don’t know, maybe since I was 5. That’s why I’m always monitoring the air quality in Aunt Olive’s house. What about you, Puck?
Puck: Well, my parents told me that I have had asthma since I was 3 when they adopted me.
Ophelia: So you don’t know who your birth parents are?
Puck: No, I don’t. But my adoptive parents said they were heavy smokers, and got involved in drugs so they gave me up for adoption.
Ophelia: But at least you were adopted by loving and wealthy parents, unlike me who had to live with a serial killer aunt. You don’t know what it feels like to lose someone to murder, right?
Puck clutched his chest and felt the tightness getting worse. Because he remembers that Hermia, his late girlfriend was shot to death years ago when he was in high school.
Puck: I don’t feel so good...
Ophelia: I’m so sorry, Puck. I forgot about Hermia. Forgive me for being insensitive, too.
Puck: It’s okay.
Puck and Ophelia were speechless for a few minutes, because it was harder to breathe for them. Puck remembered his bitter past, and Ophelia was overthinking with guilt.
Dirk: I think I’m gonna give you both corticosteroid injections. After that, I will give you sedatives.
Puck and Ophelia: Okay.
Finally, Puck and Ophelia got some sleep. Dirk looked after them through the night while he did some research.
Puck also missed Hermia a lot, and if he’s gonna die soon, it didn’t matter to him.
In the morning when they woke up, Puck and Ophelia felt much better.
Dirk: Wow, the improvement of both of you is great. You can go home tomorrow.
Puck and Ophelia were excited to hear that.
Ophelia and Puck: Thanks a lot, Dr. Dirk.
Dirk: Anytime. By the way, the rest of Bentley 8 members, Preston, Joanna, and Nathan will visit you both today.
Puck: I can’t wait to see them.
Ophelia: Same here.
Ophelia and Puck got home the next day, and they telling jokes to each other as usual like the unpleasant conversation yesterday never happened.
Ophelia: Do you know? Ghosts and fairies came from the same world, Puck.
Puck: I don’t believe it.
Ophelia: Nah, I’m joking. You’re too serious.
Puck: And your joke was too shallow.
They both laughed.
