3-Sep Update: Thanks to ProtectusCZ over at MTS who let me know about a string issue with the vape flavors. That's been fixed so the flavors should not show up as blank when you are filling/refilling the cartridge. Also the smoking durations should now be tunable so you can adjust them in Retuner.

This is the updated version of my overhaul of Cmomoney's Smoking mod which you can find here (original here). This update adds new features like vaping as well as more delinquency options for your teens by way of fake IDs.

What does it do:

Everything my previous mod did

Sims can now sit and chat with others while smoking

I updated the way addiction works in the game. Previously it was just based on a random number of times smoked but now it's more nuanced and based on how often you smoke and certain trait and lifestyle factors (for example, if you have other smokers in your household, you're more likely to get a smoking habit)

Cigarettes and smoking items can now ONLY be purchased in a special section at the grocery store by YAs and above. You will see a new interaction in the store RH called "Shop for Cigarettes". Teens can get around this by using a fake ID. 

Fake IDs

Teens can purchase fake IDs from: 

Any common criminal (Sim in the criminal career Level 4 or below) 

Any teen that has a fake ID

You can offer a price and based on your offer, the dealer will either accept or reject. 

Rebellious, Computer Whiz or teens with high Rebel Influence Skill can also buy fake IDs online. The underground online market for IDs moves very quickly so prices change every time you check but will never go higher than §500 or lower than §50. Once you purchase, the ID will be mailed to your home the next day. 

HOWEVER, you need to make sure you get to the package first. If your parent gets the package and opens it, then all teens in the house will get in trouble. The one who ordered the fake will get a special moodlet that will allow them 24 hours to confess to doing it. If they confess to their sibling(s), the sibling will either forgive and agree to keep quiet or they will get mad and have the opportunity to snitch to a parent. If the wrongdoer confesses to a parent, it will exonerate the other teens but also potentially get them into bigger trouble with both their parents and their siblings.

Fake IDs aren’t foolproof. If you use it in the store, there’s a chance you will get busted and your fake ID will be confiscated. The chance is based on how young your teen is and the quality of the fake ID. Fake ID quality is determined when you purchase, based on the price you paid so you may want to think twice before jumping on that §60 fake.

Vaping

Sims can now vape, vaping pens can be found where you buy cigarettes.

Vaping pens cost §300 with a cartridge that needs to be filled before you can use and then after every 10 uses. You can buy a regular cartridge or a flavored one and the costs are varied but are all between §200-§300. (I know, it's an expensive habit.)

Vaping is not as unhealthy as smoking regular cigarettes, is less addictive and doesn't leave your Sim with a smoke smell.

For teens, vaping will still get them in trouble if they are caught by a parent doing it.

Known Issues:

There are no IK targets on the sitting animations (they kept floating above the chairs when I added them) so teens will sink a little into the chair because they're smaller than adults.

sims 4 worlds i edited for my personal save file. pretty much all of them are gallery builds which i slightly edited to make up for any missing packs.

willow creek is already meant to be new orleans, but i wanted it to be more strongly new orleans, so i picked builds of that nature. i used a lot of paranormal stuff pack in both the furniture and the CAS of the premades. speaking of premades, i deleted and replaced all of them. might show that in another post.

oasis springs got a much more drastic change. it's now morocco. i love the courtyard oasis kit and i do not love the aesthetic of vanilla oasis springs. so, it's morocco now. i also deleted and replaced the premades here.

san myshuno, canonically, is based on a myriad of different cities, from nyc to shanghai. but i wanted it to be tokyo, so it's tokyo for me. i tried to place down japanese lots that would also fit the urban setting. i would say about half the families were deleted and replaced, but many were kept.

forgotten hollow. most people seem to think it's in the pacfic northwest of the united states, but for me it's in germany, because of the gothic architecture. the vatores were deleted because i prefer playing them in the sims 3. vlad stayed though because he's too iconic. and the world was filled up with vampires. i need to add some more humans to be food for the vamps, but that's a problem for another day. the cemetary actually has underground crypts as residential rentals, it's fun.

and mt komorebi, the most important world in this save, remains hokkaido. i made sure it had a spa, gym, and karaoke bar, and i built the park with cc. the white cottage is a ghibli store, which is awesome, and a good place for the kids, i think. there's also a grocery store, even though cottage living is not installed, and i hope that i'll still be able to force the family to go shopping before they can eat. i kept all the premades in this world.

the other worlds in this save are newcrest, magnolia promenade, strangerville, san sequoia, and tomarang. i didn't touch any of them yet, except for one house in newcrest.

for newcrest, i heard you can do scenarios in your preexisting saves, so i think i want to do that and fill up newcrest that way. it sounds fun and like a nice way to have a break from my main family whenever i want one.

magnolia promenade, maybe the family ever goes to willow creek i'll fix it up, but for now, i don't care. same with strangerville, san sequoia, and tomarang.

i'm playing with the home regions mod, so these worlds will not overlap. willow creek, newcrest and magnolia promenade are connected (NOLA). san myshuno and mt komorebi are connected (japan). but that's it, the rest of the worlds are all far away from each other (in my headcanon).

we're talking like, underground secret lairs for alien/scientist/astronaut and vampire/villain/secret agent, mermaid bedroom that the outdoor pool comes into under a glass wall

like, the subterranean ruins of the ancient vampire royal court has swirling mist drifting across the broken stone floor... it's pretty dope

i'm just... i didn't even include the subterranean magic grotto with the hot spring and glowing mushrooms and crystals with the flying saucer wreck. Or the multiple rabbit hole cavern entrances down caved in corridors underground. Or the home gym and sauna.

i tried to make there be gameplay reasons to be in each space, like the alien lab has a grow room to grow plants if you want, and a sixam mosquito trap plant you can care for and harvest, as well as the robotics station with a servo in it and Bulbous the experimental pet rodent that occasionally goes on space missions of his own. That's why the alien grotto has a hot spring and a meditation cushion, and why the ancient vampire ruins has a plasma fruit tree, so everywhere you go you have something to get or do

I am so excited with how the planning of the Obey Me save file is going! I am thinking about adding another world to the mix but we have three worlds that cover the major locations in the game at least!

I am also hoping to start recording/streaming these builds soon! The videos will be posted on my YouTube channel and the streams will be on Twitch but I have some rebranding shenanigans to get through first.

Since I have already built the House of Lamentation, Purgatory Hall, and Cocytus Hall (Nightbringer), the plan is to record a little walk through with a voice over and feature some of the characters going about their days! I thought that would be really fun to have since there won't be any speed builds of those for y'all to see. Anyway!

Story scenes

My main sims game is Sims 4, so for exterior scenes I almost always have a background that fits, no need to set up anything other than maybe add a christmas tree with TOOL to turn Spice Market in a Christmas Fair. I agree that it’s annoying that we can’t have a forest or desert without backdrop, but for a lazy builder like myself those fake sceneries are very convenient.

Case in point: I don’t know what I’d do without Port Promise!

For interior scenes I use stages, aka just the room the action happens in. Usually I decorate those myself, since they are simple enough.

Example: The underground jail in Kylo Ren's palace wasn't even on the same lot as said palace, just a rectangle that I teleported my sims into (but built as a basement iirc).

That’s the theory, anyway. In practice my “gameplay” saves are intertwined with story segments, so many of my story scenes occur in functional buildings. Like the rundown car factory where my sims lived for two weeks. The upstairs was fully liveable.

Gameplay

As a rule of thumb anything more complex than a campground or beginner farm/container home gets downloaded. There were some passion projects like my oil rig or the whaling ship, but there are rare. For regular houses I use premade houses or download shells with landscaping from the gallery. I then change the interior to my needs. Playing with free will off I have full control over who goes where at what moment and can therefore get away with 3x2 tile bathrooms. Same for stereos and decorative toys – there is no risk of parents dancing to the beat in the kids’ room or putting away carefully arranged action figures, so these can go anywhere in the house.

The Cahill bunker would have been a nightmare to play with free willed sims. In-story it had a a dormitory, and a door suggested that there was at least one more room behind the botany lab, but I never built those parts. The sims took turns using the two camping beds in the common room.

I tried making a Studio Apartment Complex Build on a 40x30 lot in The Sims 4!

heya!! i’ve had this blog for a while now, but i realised i haven’t ever actually done a proper intro on here, so here it is!! my name is aj (she/her pronouns pls)!! i’m 26, black, and i live in the uk. i graduated from uni 3 years ago and currently work in lab admin, but i’ve been doing creative writing for 10+ years!! i’m currently trying to get back into reading by reading a book a month (i usually share the book i’m reading in the sidebar of my main blog, which i follow back with as this blog is a sideblog: @andipxndy), and i write a variety of fanfiction and original works (both based off my own characters and those i currently/have rp’d with in the past). i also take requests for fanfiction, which you can read about below the cut or in this post (i’ve made some changes which mean the post is not relevant atm)!! but in general i love being asked questions about my WIPs and my characters and basically any characters i write, because i love delving into character thoughts and doing character development (so please send me some!!).

this blog started off as a way for me to share my fanfiction writing, which is how i got into writing in the first place and how i came to love it, but now i’m wanting to expand some more share/talk about some of my original works too!! i write ya sci-fi in my original stuff, but i’m known to drift into romance, action-comedy and crime when it comes to fanfiction works. i’m also over on ao3 as andipxndy.

my main fanfic writing fandoms are abbott elementary and alex rider, just to keep things managable, but i also enjoy watching ncis, criminal minds and lockwood & co., and sometimes dive back into old favourite animes (k-on!! is my current anime obsession). i may be slow to write or respond to stuff but i DO enjoy diving into discussing fandom stuff too!! i also like playing video games like sims 4 (ea is a money grab pass it on) and cities skylines, and enjoy dnd and rping with friends!!

before this intro gets too long, here are my main WIPs:

power play (1st draft completed, left to stew)

the first original wip i planned, the story is intended to be part of a 5-book series about a 20-year-old who accidentally gives himself powers, and ends up drawn into the science underground whilst trying to save people that he may or may not have also accidentally given powers. and all whilst trying to appear completely normal to his mum and get a summer job whilst home from university.

the crossover (still working on 1st draft, is my main/november nano project)

this is an adaptation of an old rp au i had with one of my closest friends, adjusted to have new, original characters despite the same plotline. it follows a 17-year-old girl as she’s accidentally transported into a parallel universe, where her parents aren’t her parents and she doesn’t exist. in an attempt to get home, she ends up crossing paths with the people who are meant to be her family, and finds out that they’re all superheroes. insert drama and shenanigans here.

the rich life: a modern bourgeoise au (working on 1st draft, is my camp nano project)

a passion project that i’m completing for my rp partners, this au is split into a 3-book series following the lives of our characters in the upper class, those who work for them, and eventually their children, going through the drama of their lives and how they try so hard not to have it all end up in the press. that obviously doesn’t work.

fanfiction fics and requests (ongoing but this is technically a wip)

technically counts as a wip as i have a backlog of fics in progress to write and share for requesters (and some ideas i’ve had myself), but these are mainly either alex rider or abbott elementary fanfics that have been sent in via ask. you can see extra info below the cut after the next paragraph. my requests are currently closed, and i’m working through my backlog. the request(s) active for the forseeable future are:

Magical Misadventures

Hello! So I got Realm of Magic, since it comes pretty highly recommended, but mainly cos I wanted it so I could use a fairy mod. The Spellcasters in the Sims 4 work pretty well and the gameplay is fun and whimsical, I think occults in the Sims 4 are impressive, and I might get the vampire and werewolf pack too. I just wish plantsims were a little more fleshed out.

Anyway the Magic Realm is so kooky and fun. Sadly there's no narrative about fixing the world, seeing as how it seems broken and fragmented, but I guess that's to be expected with this game. Thank god the Magic Realm HQ at least can be edited. I thought it'd be cool to continue the theme of disintegrated buildings with the back quarter of the building looking like it imploded, with the remains floating off into the void.

I do really like the art nouveau style that the pack comes with, and the CAS is giving me Shadow Hunters vibes, which isn't a bad thing necessarily.

I did find that Glimmerbrook is kind of strange. I think it's meant to be some kind of forestry town, yet the hood does look very fancy, apart from the sad red neck bar. As such I decided that the story here is that the area was once a gated community, that has been home to Spellcasters for generations, although it seems to have been abandoned, perhaps mirroring why the Magic Realm is also falling apart . Anyway, I moved the Elixirs and Brews bar underground, accessible through a secret door, and above is the town's defunct ranger station.

I renamed the Charm family Le'Esotaire. And their house is pretty much French art nouveau. The house of Grace Anasi and Tomax Colette is modelled after a standard victorian.

The lots here are outwardly pretty run down, and the point of it is to keep the hood under the radar and discreet so Sims don't come snooping.

for starters: you may make your starter sim, they can be any gender and look however you wish. only rule is that they must be a young adult. the starter sim can be human or straightforwardly a spellcaster, but there’s rules depending what you start as (read baby witch’s rules)

also, the whole challenge can happen in one lot, or you can move every generation to a whole new world. this is all up to you. every generation must have a different orb.

1. Baby witch

- start as a human or a spellcaster sim (if starts as a human sim, must marry the spellcaster that turns you)

- empty lot or a starter home

- 20k, 1800 or 0 simoleons to start with

- practice all kinds of magic, trying everything to find what you actually want to do

- adopt the first cat in the adoption thing

2. green witch

- must do the plant aspiration

- max the gardening skill

- (plant collection is optional)

- your sim’s house and clothing must have green in them (green hair, green eyes, green shirt, green walls etc)

- house can be underground, kind of like a hobbit’s hole

- as much plants as possible, both ”fake” and real

- extra points if you get a cow plant

3. evil witch

- must have the evil trait

- dark/black house and clothing etc

- never marry, but have a kid with one sim (1 kid only) you can date the baby’s other parent or just use them to get the kid OR have your sim get a science baby by themself

- evil magic

- max the mischief skill

- complete a bad aspiration (you may choose)

- have at least 2 enemies

- have a black cat as a pet

4. coven witch

- leader of the pack aspiration

- must be in a club with other spellcasters, and have a meeting at least once a week (club activities are up to you, practicing magic would obviously be a good one)

- the club must be successfull, collect as many club points you can

5. good witch

- must have the good trait

- marry to your high school sweetheart

- practice good magic

- max the charisma skill

- complete soulmate or any family aspiration

- at least 2 kids

- the sim may have white/naturally light house, clothes etc

- have a white (small) dog and/or a white unicorn

6. home (maker) witch

- practical magic

- a home parent (either no job or at home job, partner may have an off-home job)

- any aspiration with the home turf extra trait, or the perfectly pristine aspiration from bust the dust kit

7. potion witch

- must do the potion aspiration

- must do the potions and ”collect” them all and put them on shelves

- complete messages in a bottle collection

8. crystal witch

- complete the crystal collection

- have a seance session during every full moon

- max the medium skill

- purpleish house, clothing etc

- optional: haunted house lot

9. gray witch

- practice both good and evil magic

- have 2 best friends and 2 enemies

- have 2 relationships before marrying with the third person (these relationships can end anyway you want, extra points if one of them is succesfull and the other dramatic)

10. cosmic witch

- must build a rocket ship and visit space

- marry an alien

- complete the alien and space rocks collections

Ever wondered where your Sims should call home in The Sims 4? I sure have! Those pesky loading screens can be a real pain, so I went on a quest to find the perfect neighborhoods. Whether you're all about rabbit holes, street stalls, or free-range exploration, I've got your back. Here's the list of the best neighborhoods in The Sims 4, considering the activities available outside of the lot boundaries.

1. All Neighborhoods in Henford-on-Bagley - The Ultimate Playground

If you're after the most action without loading screens, Henford-on-Bagley is where it's at. This charming locale is packed with NPCs offering small quests, excellent swimming and fishing spots, and tons of plant and mushroom spawns. In Finchwick, you'll find bustling market stalls and vibrant village fairs. It's a shopper's paradise. In Bramblewood, you can interact with the creature keeper and embark on exciting quests for adventure-seeking Sims.

2. Plumbite Cove, Copperdale

For those of us who want variety without the hassle of loading screens, Plumbite Cove in Copperdale is a dream come true. This neighborhood offers a stunning beach, an amusement park, prime fishing spots, and cool teen hangouts. It almost feels like an open-world experience.

3. Senbamachi, Mt. Komorebi

Senbamachi in Mt. Komorebi is perfect for those who love the great outdoors. With hiking trails, festivals, and plenty of interactive objects, it's a nature lover's delight, especially if you have the Seasons expansion. This neighborhood offers a lovely blend of culture and natural beauty.

4. Moonwood Mill

If you're into all things supernatural like me, you'll love Moonwood Mill. This werewolf-packed world is brimming with semi-open world adventures. From lakeside swimming and fishing to mysterious underground tunnels and the wolf packs' hangouts, it's an action-packed locale. And guess what? You can forage for all sorts of goodies right on your home lot. No more annoying loading screens interrupting your fun!

5. Gibbs Hill, Britechester

Surprisingly, the main neighborhood of the university world in Britechester is bustling with life. There are swimming and fishing spots, occasional street stalls, and a variety of outdoor activities. Whether you're hitting the books or exploring, there's something for every Sim here.

6. Mua Pel'am, Sulani

If you're playing as a merfolk, Mua Pel'am in Sulani is the place to be. It's a natural paradise with fantastic swimming and fishing, scuba diving, and hidden underwater caves. The environmental story progression here is a unique treat. But fair warning, it's a bit secluded, which could be just what you're looking for.

For Occults?

Vampires: Although Forgotten Hollow feels like the natural choice for vampires due to the lack of direct sunlight, the world is super small and boring. Consider Henford-on-Bagley if you have Seasons, as it's often cloudy or rainy. Windenburg is another option for the same reason, however, the neighborhoods in Windenburg do not offer as many open-world gameplay opportunities.

Merfolk: All the neighborhoods I mentioned earlier are perfect for merfolk, with their open swimming areas and enchanting waters.

Witches, Aliens, and Ghosts: Thanks to Glimmerstone and direct teleportation to the magic realm, witches can thrive in any neighborhood without limitations. Aliens and Ghosts have no specific requirements so anywhere is fair game, really.

Werewolves: For those interested in exploring the pack system, Moonwood Mill is the place to be. I wish we, the players, could create and designate our own pack hangouts in any other world though.
