Real Animated Pets - Jaguar Edition
Tumblr media
Was hard to find a proper name for this one. This is jaguar conversion from Castaway Stories that acts like @deedee-sims and mine Farm Animals - it's a custom pet collar for large dogs.
This was originally requested by @jellymeduza way back when farm animals were posted (made, sent and then forgotten). And now that I see that MTS is full with all kinds of jaguar skins, I remembered and thought it was time to share our version 😀
The jaguar files were extracted from Castaway Stories by me, then remapped (of course I peeked at Darina Rose's jaguar). DeeDee, just like always, made a stellar job with bone assignements (remember though, that nothing is perfect in the world of sims 2 bones 😄). And as already mentioned, this pet is a custom collar for large dogs and works in the same way. More info on how it works can be found in farm animals post here (you'll aslo need the invisible fur file by DeeDee from that post).
Compressed, clearly labelled, picture included.

Ever seen or recommend item mods that add really low end, rundown objects for very poor sims, like the items are clearly second hand or were picked up from the trash, ideal for role play or rags to riches
There's a ton of this stuff, so much that it's impossible to make an exhaustive list, people have been making this kind of CC since the game first came out. Most of it gets labeled as Grunge and if you google Sims 2 Grunge you can find blogs and pinterest boards that show some of it off
I made a dig mod that adds most of the cheap stuff to the Dig interaction, my broke/apocalypse Sims use this to scavenge for stuff. Cyjon has a mod to lower pay for the EP jobs so Sims don't get rich as fast, and there's a mod on Mod The Sims so that service Sims like maids cost more to hire
Various creators have converted stuff from the Castaway Stories game to Sims 2 and Ja made some great add-ons for them, here's the database for all the Stories conversions
A lot of people have made grungy recolors for in game items, you can find some on my main Simblr @creesims, Michelle has some on Mod The Sims, here's WirelessGuy's second hand recolors and I think he also has stuff on Mod The Sims
Lifa has made some edits to Veranka/Hafi's 3t2 Crates furniture and Gutella's Broken Kitchen/Bathroom sets as well as some grungy recolors
On TSR (or you can get them from the Booty) check out MsBarrows PipeDream sets and Poorhouse furniture and CycloneSue's Urban Renewal stuff
Garden of Shadows is an active board that caters to dark/grunge themes stuff, although the monthly challenges are open to any kind of stuff
There's also a bunch of dedicated Simmers who play Medieval theme games and a lot of that stuff fits into run down modern settings, The Plumbob Keep is an active site that's dedicated to this theme
You could also try searching for Sims 2 Apocalypse, Sims 2 Fallout, and Sims 2 Castaway. There are a lot of people who play theme hoods for these and I've found pinterest boards dedicated to them

Sims 2: Trill Spots Overlay Box
My initial instinct was to do a Trill skin, but I realized overlays had a lot of advantages, mostly people can use whatever skin they want and aren't stuck with my choices, also you can have Klingon/Trill or Andorian/Trill hybrids. So... I learned how to do overlays just for this.
Spots are from this skin, I considered doing options from the genesims skins as well but I wasn't too thrilled with the looks of those spots, so I just recolored those spots a few times.
There are four different colors, labeled Alpha, Beta, Gamma, and Delta: A medium brown, a dark brown, a black, and a dark blue-grey. From left to right on the preview, Alpha on a tan default, Alpha on a light default, Beta on a medium default, Beta on a dark default, Gamma on the darkest of my Klingon skintones, Delta on the lightest of my Andorian skintones, and Delta on a skin the color of Pooklet's Hangfire. They're all wearing Castaway conversions so you can see the spots on the body.
My recommendation is Alpha for lighest skintone - Maxis tan, Beta for Maxis medium - Maxis dark, Gamma for anything darker, and Delta for aliens, but of course you can choose whatever, it just might take a bit of fiddling to get the spots to show up if your skin happens to be close to the color of the spots. Hopefully I included enough options...
Works for toddler-elder, both genders, the overlay box is a mannequin head with the Trill spots found in Misc > Dressers. Huge thanks to @themeasureofasim and @platinumaspiration for their tutorials (1) (2), because I was a bit lost at first and both of those helped me stumble through. Will I do another overlay box in the future? I have no idea. For now, though, I need to go back to something with less GUID fuckery.
Please let me know if there are any issues with this as this is my first overlay box!

The sleepy town of Wormwood
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
A powerful witch has cast a spell over the town, isolating it from the rest of the world. Perpetually 1956, it exists in a stasis, unchanging over the years. No one has ever questioned the way things are, never thought about why nothing seems to change from year to year. Will anyone ever break free of the curse and bring Wormwood into the present or will it forever remain the same? I really love this hood and despite having so many issues with it, I still love playing it (and so does @nonsensical-pixels who is the one that inspired me to dig around to get most of the original files back because she was making me jealous). It's a little more silly but there are some pretty dark undertones as well. I know there's a couple issues but they really aren't a problem if you play the hood as a standalone or with non-PV subhoods. There is an overarching mystery/plot :) Who really is Moira and...is she really that bad? Is she actually evil or is there more to it? What's going on in the Moore house and why is there a strange smell wafting from it? The Tegan's sure are an odd bunch, is the picture perfect family of blonde hair and blues eyes a coincidence or something more sinister? Will Olive Specter finally find some good luck and love in Ocean Grisly? Sam Spyers is determined to figure out what's happening in Wormwood, but can she figure it out before it's too late?
There are 3 files included: Required, Highly Suggested, and Wormwood itself. The Required folder contains various CC that I used, almost entirely from Michelle's recolors from MTS (merged) + the Bespoke build set (merged), the (optional) Prison mod from Simlogical is not required but sort of ruins the immersion for two families, there are various plants from Parsimonious, fences from Smug Tomato Basket, more plants from the Castaway conversion site, the Sims 2 store sets, and unfortunately a really old merged buy mode folder that I genuinely do not remember what's in it other than a ton of Veranka's stuff. I don't think I used too much from this folder and most of it has the creator in the item descriptions. In all, it's about 1GB of CC, so it's not exactly that much. CC lite, I guess? Most of it is just to get the general vibe of the hood and can be replaced and even then, the bulk of it is simply recolors or bespoke wallpapers. I used this template from enchantedw0lf on MTS to create the hood. Townies may or may not be bald. No, I will not explain. As the first hood I've ever made, it has been through hell and back. I actually completely finished a more complex and involved version of it before managing to corrupt it due to a simple misclick in simpe and thinking I had a backup but not actually :):):) Then entirely remade it from scratch again but it was a hacked down version with fewer sims and simpler plot lines (rifp cowboy farmer who secretly wanted to be a pretty ballerina and had a room full of mannequins facing a stage where he'd dance for them). All this to say that I didn't make this hood 100% correctly and it has some...quirks. When I remade it, I forgot to disable stealth hoods (you'd think I'd have learned my lesson from this when I decided to make Natosi later lol), and I simply can't be bothered to delete townies n stuff. I don't have the energy or willpower to clean it up. The hood itself is still very pretty and fun to play, I think the odd quirks actually fit in perfectly and helps give the vibes I wanted for it!

Hey I was wondering if you could separate you’re collection from the entire download? If you don’t want to it’s okay! It’s just a suggest! Also thank you for all of the hard work you do!
(Psst. I have a question. How long have you been playing sims and how long do you feel like you’ll be converting? I’m sorry I’m interested.)
Hello there!
Yup it's something I'll do, sooner or later. I'm almost done updating all the posts with the pick and chose section, I'm updating tons of all cc and then I'll upload the separate collection files ;)
I don't mind answering your questions :) I've been playing Sims since idk when exactly! I have fond memories of Sims 1, Sims 2 castaway and Pets. I played them all on PS2, but it has been sooo many years ago. Probably 2005? Ohh great memories ✨
Quitting my conversion journey isn't on my mind, for now! I still enjoy it really much :)

The final part of my Sims 2 Castaway playthrough is finally out. What a journey! I do like this game and enjoyed it a lot when I was a kid, but I'm excited to move on to other Sims videos. I've been wanting to make some that's more lore oriented. I also have other Sims playthroughs to edit, but the style will be much more condensed compared to this one.
Anyways, hope you enjoy, and I'll see you soon with some conversions <3

Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I wanted to do a BACC, but I decided it was not for me. Instead I’m coming back to the ToT challenge, this time with mortality rolls (sort of). If you want to read the details, they will be at the very bottom of the post. Sensitivity warning: miscarriage, mortality rolls, death in childbirth.
All families start with 9 plots for planting tomatoes, a pond, a fridge, a stove (they may need a grill if you use go hunting spears mod), a counter or two (one for a sink), a dining table, 2 chairs, a tent, an outhouse, and a sofa.
Sims sponge bathe using buckets from Sun&Moon Fetch Water mod, or bathe autonomously in the sink (they also bathe babies in the sink). If they can afford it, they can buy a bathtub, which is very useful for toddlers.
I use a lot of Castaway conversions and some other cc like Dawn of Man tents, and this cauldron. If you like caves, I recommend the cc from this list, especially the Stone Super Set. You may want the iCad version of the bush toilets so they’re less annoying. The leafy outfits are from here (the single leaf is just a maxis career outfit from CAS debug mode) and here are the tutus.
I play with 2 summers, autumn and spring. No winter because it’s an outside challenge, at least in this era. Suggested especially if you play with summer all year round: this mod with the temperature enable option. I play on this map (I always do) and I place my founders’ lots around the big lake.
I start with 5 families and I follow the original challenge rules, but I add my townies as I see fit as the time progresses. I also start with recessive genes just so that they have a chance of appearing in the later generations.
~*~
I played the family of Rosa and Galfrid Wolfen who got a new addition in their family, a son Ishum.
Ishum (Libra): 3 Sloppy, 7 Outgoing, 0 Lazy, 7 Playful, 10 Nice. I think he’s a mix of parents but he’s more similar to his father. He inherited his mother’s eye colour.
Rosa (Sagittarius, Popularity/Family): 3 Sloppy, 0 Shy, 7 Active, 7 Playful, 8 Nice.
Galfrid (Taurus, Knowledge): 5 Neat, 7 Outgoing, 0 Lazy, 8 Playful, and 5 Nice.
~*~
Rosa received a dusty old lamp when she was pregnant with Ishum. Unfortunately, she passed away due to complications related with childbirth.
Rosa was also developing relationships with 2 wolves (not leaders of the pack). I think they’re the only pets in town as for now so if anyone ever wants a pet they’ll need to get these to move in.
Almost right after Rosa died, her grave was struck by lightning during the day, when it was raining. Her ghost started haunting during the day and it happened twice. She was a really active ghost and she scared her husband ~5x. Sadly, he had no wants to see a ghost, despite being a knowledge sim. But he was a very good dad who wanted to teach his toddler to walk, talk and potty train him. The toddler also managed to learn the Nursery Rhyme, so he’s on the way to succeed in life.
I got the toddler a bed, a potty, and a toy.
I played them for 2 seasons and they got 2 harvests. This family is probably going to end up quite poor since there was only one baby.
They ended up with ~2800$ after this round. I might play the other families like this too for now, as the founders don’t interact with other families till their teen kids need to pair up.
~*~
I know it will not be to everyone’s liking and a lot of people find it triggering… I also don’t like killing my sims off, but I came to the conclusion that I’d rather have my females miscarry if their babies are rolled to die before they reach teenage years.
If a kid survives (but is rolled to die as teen or up), they are born like usual.
That is for my convenience and I like it that there is a custom memory that looks sort of like the one you get when a baby is taken away. I got the miscarriage potion that’s part of the poison mod. The memory compatible with this mod is here (you don’t need all of them, I have only the miscarriage ones and the book object).
I gave each of the founding mothers a secondary family aspiration if her main aspiration was not already family, because I want them to get the miscarriage memory.
I’m using Historical Simmer’s lower class rolls, where you roll 1/6 at toddlerhood, 1/9 at childhood, 1/14 at teenagerhood. If I roll 1, they die.
If mother carries the pregnancy to term, I still roll at childbirth as I’ve always done, and I still prioritize mother’s death [which is unrealistic, but more gameplay-friendly for me]. I’m not sure about what I’m going to do about twins yet. I roll the regular 100. Anything below ~20 means death. I roll 2x (or 3x at twin birth), so the chance is actually quite high.

Notes about my creative and gaming ventures:
I started nanowrimo with the intent of finishing a. My Encanto fanfic and b. My Cait Sith to the Rescue fic. I did about a week of work on the former, got slightly stuck and more interested in other non-writing projects, and haven’t recovered. I progressed pretty well, and inched closer to the end, but it feels stuck now. It’s a stupid little point of I need to include Felix now because he’s the only family member I haven’t written yet and it makes no sense for him to not be there, and I don’t know how. More likely, I just have to sit down and write it.
I’m much less stuck on the Cait Sith fanfic, but I am trying to finish these in the order I promised myself. I have a solid outline for the rest of it, and have poked a bit and played with dialogue; I feel it will go fine when I get around to it.
The major distraction was my shiny new Sims 2 project! …which like my other sims projects has slowed to a crawl because of the ridiculous way I set up my CC. It’s working a lot better than setting up my medieval CC did, mainly because there is so much less stuff (and also because I learned the hard way to stop installing lots without clean installer, and other similar wisdom you’d think I would have learned in the twenty years I’ve been playing). Still frustratingly slow, though! My method is nice because a. I have a bunch of ancient stuff, like collections from AAS that just doesn’t exist anymore, and b. I find workable stuff that never would have occurred to me to seek out to include. For example, I had a whole bunch of JA steampunk outfits in my downloads folder. Most of them got cut, of course, but several puffy sleeved white shirts for male and female sims will work great for casual and piratey 18th century sims. Like so:
Tumblr media
On the other hand, I have a ton of decorative crap I don’t know whether I will be able to identify sufficiently to remove! On the other other hand, currently loading is nice and quick. Well, it is what it is. I have been adding freshly downloaded CC in small chunks, removing CC using a combination of screenshotting tooltips and using DDO to locate and remove unwanted stuff, and it’s inching along.
I am really glad I decided to used Castaway Stories natives, as that goes beautifully with the piratey stuff in this 18th century set, which I can use in the future.
And it has also come to my attention that as sparse as 18th century CC is, the sims that suffer the most from a lack of content so far are Male Children. If I participated in the community like at all, I would politely beg for child and probably toddler conversions of nice simple Heget clothing. And some all-ages all-gender separate breeches to go with my puffy shirts.
And I’ve been distracted from that by a. Minecraft, where my project of digging out a massive cave uncovering cool stuff in a seed with three ancient cities and a stronghold uncovered another massive cave I needed to climb to the top of and incorporate, and it’s 20 blocks down before that is done and then 20 more blocks down before my whole cave even touches the stronghold, b. Civ 6 which I really wasn’t expecting, and now I feel like I should clear out some achievements or something, and c. Dwarf fortress, where I was kinda waiting for the steam release but I got too excited and I am very rusty. I had a couple of starting crashes, then a world where all the cool start locations were near a necromancer tower so every time I started a new fort, in a few months there would be an undead siege I wasn’t ready for. First fort, I just didn’t realize; second fort actually it was crocodiles that kept popping out of the river and murdering my dwarves; third fort I thought I was doing better but didn’t hook up my protective drawbridge in time and got wiped out by the undead. Eventually I rolled a new world and it has gone okay so far, I used what I learned to make sure I didn’t start near evil, and also dug a quick starter fort in the first layer of sand and dirt before making my fancy entrance—another trap I often fall into! we’ll see if it’s survivable.
I also am getting a bit distracted by Grounded, but I can probably wait until the update comes out on that so I can have mushroom stairs for the castle I’ll eventually build. (I started a new game when it was released, and the stalled because I wanted to build a great treehouse before venturing into the hedge lab. Forgetting that my last great treehouse was built during pandemic lockdown when I had so much extra free time to go crazy building…)
It’s fun to ramble into the void about my current projects, it’s like talking to myself out loud and it helps me feel organized even when I’m not!

Responding to @mckat-sims replies (hello!)
Here's where to find the required resources if you don't want to convert someone else's conversion from the database (I'm using an end table from Castaway as an example):
1. The Mesh In SimPE, Toolbar > File > Open Navigate to where CastawayStories is installed, mine is here: C:/Program Files (x86)/Electronic Arts/The Sims Castaway Stories/TSData/Res/3D Open Objects03, this is where the GMDCs (the meshes) are found. In the ResourceList, scroll down to tableEndSurvival and select it. In Plugin View, you'll see the models - table is ticked and five shadows are unticked. (I have no idea how shadows work in ts3 so it's up to you if you tick them or not before exporting.) Click Export... and save tableendsurvival_root_rot_gmdc.obj to your desktop.
2. The Textures In SimPE, Toolbar > File > Open Navigate back to the 3D folder Open Objects07, 08, or 09, this is where the LIFOs (the nice big textures) are found. In this case, open Objects09. In the ResourceList, scroll down to tableEndSurvival and you'll see three colors (dark, green, and light) in 2 sizes (256x256 and 512x512). I'm guessing for ts3 you want the 512x512 so select tableendsurvival-dark0_lifo and in Plugin View, right-click the image to Export... tableendsurvival-dark0_lifo_512x512.png and save to your desktop. Repeat for tableendsurvival-green0_lifo and tableendsurvival-light0_lifo. 2a. If you ticked the shadows in step 1, they are found in Objects06 this is where the TXTRs (the smaller textures) are found. In the ResourceList, scroll down to tableendsurvival-shadows-alpha_txtr and export the same way you exported the other textures.
3. If you want the catalog description and price to match the original, take the 'easy way' and just open someone else's conversion you found at the database. I don't think you'd be stepping on anyone's toes for converting their conversion, especially if you thank/credit them.
Hi Shasta!
I'm still a novice at SimPE, and am having trouble setting up SimPE to pull up content the Stories Games, and I was wondering if you could help? Here's what's happened so far:
In Extra>Preferences: Under System Folders - the paths look correct to me (ex. C:\Program Files (x86)\Electronic Arts\The Sims Castaway Stories) System Check - I ran it and got three green checkmarks Under File Table - I noticed the two stories games I have installed were unchecked, so I tried checking one. SimPE froze to think and then automatically unchecked all my Sims 2 packs. Oops! Reset. So then I went under Advanced Settings and ticked all of the boxes next to one of the games I have installed which automatically filled in the box next to "Include Castaway Stories" and then hit OK.
I closed out and restarted SimPE, but all of my categories in Object Workshop were all jumbled and weird (there were beds under appliances) and I couldn't tell if any Castaway objects were even there. So I went back to Extra>Preferences>File Table and hit reset, closed and opened SimPE again and the categories were fine. I'm at a complete loss on to how to fix SimPE to read stories content and googling hasn't gotten me anywhere. So sorry for the long ask. Could you help or point me in the direction of a tutorial? I'd appreciate any help so much.
Hi! No worries about the long ask :) Hope it's okay to answer publicly in case this is useful to others
Just checking 1. Do you want to clone/edit/recolor a Stories object that will then be added to your Sims 2 Download folder? Or are you wanting to create custom content for a Stories game (e.g. a new dresser to use while playing CastawayStories)? 2. Do you have the Stories games installed? 3. Does SimPE work in other ways for you (e.g. you can recolor a bg dresser, you can edit a sim's memories, etc.)? 4. Do you have LordDarcy's LifeStories CEP installed?
It's here and I got it to work in SimPE using LordDarcy's tutorial in that post. Under Advanced Settings, I ticked Folder: {LifeStories}TSData\Res\Objects and then it's a very slow process of clicking the blue down arrow to get the load order correct but LifeStories content should be available in Object Workshop to clone or recolor.
AFAIK there isn't a CEP for Castaway or PetStories, and I've never been able to tick "Include Castaway Stories" or "Include Pet Stories" in the FileTable. I think SimPE developers added those just in case someone ever made CEPs for them?
I use SimPE 0.73. If Chris Hatch's newer version has some new Stories settings, I'm no help :P

Castaway Stories plumbing conversions by Havelock on MATY. I really like these for my rustic sims. That barrel sink looks great in a saloon btw.
The original post for it is HERE. However, the download link in the original post does not work. But, an awesome user called Simsample posted a good SFS link further down in the thread. Just to make it easy, the SFS link is HERE.

henlo frens :3
no I haven’t forget you I’m still working on the castaway stuff pack as you may have noticed I expanded the list with items that will be available  so keep an eye on it for new items that might have been added :3 at the moment I’m trying to add new dishes like the fried bananas you can see above to give your sims more choices when it comes to food  anyway I’m not going to promise new dishes this is the first time I’m working with sim food so it might be lots of trying for me but if I succeed they will be added of course :3
