I understand that it might be difficult, because of the knee-jerk reaction we all have when it comes to this topic. I admit I also had the emotional first-response of disgust. But I urge you to go back and try to read it again, when you are cool-headed.

Stating that 'murdering people we find disgusting is not the moral high ground it feels like', is not the same thing as 'defending the sanctity of life' of anyone.

And while it feels good to emotionally say 'we should kill all (people who do bad things that cause harm to others)' this does not actually accomplish what our brains think it does.

Listen, to me, listen:

I know that we are all human and when we see someone committing evil things, we feel justified and good, and we want to use our teeth and claws to rip them to shreds. I KNOW it feels incredible to reply to pain and harm with equal violence.

But on an ideological level, if you EVER hope to understand how emotional manipulation and dehumanization on a social level works, you NEED to be prepared to unwrap this delicious i-can-murder-that-person-and-feel-rightous burrito.

You need to understand why it is not the swiss knife of justice that it feels like.

You need to know that it can and will be used to kill innocent people who don't deserve it, and you will not even notice.

Because if you can justify murder with a simple 'if you fit into this category you automatically don't deserve to live' then you are supporting an authoritarian regime, who can and WILL happily take the easier job of convincing you that some person that they need dead fits the description (of a person you've already agreed doesn't deserve anything but a swift and unquestionable death).

This is why, when they needed the gays to be feared and hunted, they labeled them 'pedophiles'. This is why they're now doing this to trans people. This is why dehumanization is a tool of oppression, not justice.

There is way to fix injustice in the world and protect children without becoming easier to manipulate and trick.

i think dinostar is such an interesting ship right now even if i've kind of turned away from it after this season. the problem is that it's complicated, and fandoms historically don't like nuanced situations or takes. i don't think it's fair to say darius is putting brooklynn on a pedestal, since from his perspective, she hasn't done anything wrong, and kenji has been framed as this unfair partner to her. it does feel like his feelings are very immature and more of an infatuation right now ("if he loved you half as much.."/"unless?"), especially when you compare them to kenji's own feelings for brooklynn - his girlfriend who he's loved for 6 years - but that isn't a horrible thing, it's just different. i do completely understand if people dislike the ship right now, and even criticize darius' way of handling the accidental confession, but i just think people have been way too harsh on all three of them without being willing to see that all of their perspectives are different

Yes, it does. It gets so much better. I won’t make it any more complicated than that. I know how insurmountable these hopeless feelings can seem, but there is light! Always, there is light!

The biggest things to chase after are mental health resources and community. Those two things will save you. Therapy is life changing, don’t shy away from it. Meds can be life changing if they’re recommended. A community, big or small, of people who know /you/, is priceless. Find that community through school, through clubs, through your local LGBTQ centers, or (very carefully) online.

If you live somewhere dangerous, my best advice is to lay low until you can get out. Those years of living in hiding will hurt, but it’s not worth risking your safety. There are many undercover gender affirming things you can do in the meantime! I’ve done them, they help. It is possible to live in the closet and wait until you can be in a safer place to come out.

Cutting people out of your life is hard. I think each person is a case by case basis. Sometimes it’s not worth the fallout, sometimes it very much is. I think mental health care is important here. A therapist can give you the tools to deal with folks that make your life harder. The set of rules that I use to guide who I let into my life and who I don’t was built by me with the help of a therapist, and it’s saved me from so much grief.

I promise, it gets better. It took around ten years for me to do everything I listed above, but those ten years were absolutely worthwhile . To be truly happy is a completely attainable feeling, I swear. The moment you feel it, and you will feel it, it makes everything that came before it feel worth the struggle.

Your life is worth fighting for.

To answer the first question, well, maybe the summary that I wrote on AO3 could explain it ^^

König wasn't a normal man, and he knew it from the start. He couldn't have a normal relationship, even when he craved for it. So when he saw the chance—to pick a pretty flower for himself—he took it without hesitation.

If you want a detailed answer, I can certainly give you one. It's pretty common for those in power to take whatever they want during subjection, so when he came across a lone girl (the reader), he decided to take her with him. I think it's just an unfortunate series of events, because she's in the wrong place at the wrong time, and it's pitiful that she fits his type. In this kind of situation, people like him would see her as his 'belonging'. Like, 'finders keeper' situation.

About their life in Austria, let's just say that it's no different than before. He'd still inflict fear and shame on the reader.

In psychology, shame is worse than fear, because shame is personal, and fear can be universal. So, getting rid of it is harder than getting rid of fear.

Also, shame can break someone's spirit more permanently than fear, especially when it contains sexual elements. He knew how much it could affect her, that's why he used it to his advantage. We all know that we shouldn't feel good during the assault, but it's something we couldn't control, because that's just how our bodies worked. It's a vicious cycle, really. Because you'd hate him for it, and you'd try to break free from him, only to fail again. If that happens, she'd stop trying after a while, because it only leads to crueler punishments.

I don't think there's a worse feeling for a girl than having a man whispering depraved things like "You like it, don't you?", "Look at yourself. You're enjoying it." when he assaulted her. So you can pretty much guess what happens to the reader in the after.
