Gears' inability to show emotion is equal parts Nature and Nurture. With his rumored parentage setting him up with a limited understanding and safe place to show emotions, his traumatic childhood/life, dangerous job, dealing with death constantly he keeps an iron clad facade of being emotionless.

A lower level researcher, or multiple people, had also probably mentioned how Gears being so brave and unflappable gave them comfort during breaches and now he really can't break. What kind of leader would he be if he didn't make his subordinates feel safe?

There's a difference between not being able to show emotions and not feeling emotion. And Gears feels emotions rather strongly. He has sympathy for the Safe human anomalies. He quietly mourns those lost to the dangerous anomalies, and find some comfort in the antics of men like Alto Clef, and Elias Shaw. Even if it does end up with more paperwork.

He keeps an eye on his daughter and always gets very tense when he hears members of the serpents hand have been killed. And he always, ALWAYS, goes to see the bodies to make sure Alison isn't there

Happy WIPsday! I have been wanting to post for approximately 2 weeks, but it's been chaosville at my house, so I haven't done it. I'm not seeing any tags, so I'm going to start us off this week!

So.... in the past two weeks I've written almost 2,000 words on Simon's Two Mums AU and about 4k words on Firstprince Soulmate BS. This is a lot for me! I'm excited about both of them! Soulmate BS is marinating after having had a very important scene written, so finally (already, always) got some overdue attention, and I'm really enjoying where it's going.

Simon's two mums:

Then, mum says, "Is it standard practice to cast spells on students without their agreement or parental assent?"  "I'm sorry?" [omitted for spoilers] says.  "Mum," I hiss at her.  "I'm sorry, Simon, but I'd be very curious to know if this is a common experience for students here, or if it's something that's happening particularly often to my son." Her voice is hard and angry. Her lawyer voice, the one that knows she's going to win, and doesn't mind letting you know as well.  "It's…" [spoiler again] sits back down. "It is, actually, quite common, but it is also very likely that it's happening particularly often with Simon."  Mum seems surprised at how easily he goes along with her. "I'd appreciate if you would draft a policy document that provides students and their parents with more explicit knowledge of circumstances in which they may be subject to magical correction or intervention."  "Of course, yes," [this person's name would spoil you] says. "Absolutely." He moves to stand again, and then sits back down. "Is there anything else before Simon returns to class?"  "No," Mum says. "Unless you have anything you'd like to talk about, Simon?" Mummy asks, and I could cry. I almost do.

I have found a way to connect two completely different fandoms together!

Call of Duty and Fast and Furious, specially the Hobbs and Shaw movie.

Okay, listen, right.

MI6. In F&F H&S it's mentioned bc it's literally a big part of the story line, but in CoD MW remastered, it's mentioned in the Countdown mission in the 3 game.

So....my idea would be having a agent of MI6 kind of appear in both story lines, and connect it in one big mission with TF141 along with mystery character, Hobbs and Shaw? Oh, and Soap doesn't die bc we love him💕

FAVOURITE TEXTS/FICTIONS

Dr Alto Clef:

He fluctuates between reading whole novels in a day and going months without reading. Most of what he reads is fiction, with a weird thing for badly written romance novels.

Dr Simon Glass:

Absolutely i headcannon him as an audiobook listener. He reads whatever ends up playing into his headphones. This caused many times for other researchers to connect to his headphones to see what the weirdest thing they could get him to listen to was. Dr Iceberg won by putting on the instruction manual for the air conditioning on site.

Dr Kondaki:

No one really knows what he reads because he doesn’t really talk about it unless you ask but if you do ask, he will go on and on. He’s a fan of military fiction like Matthew Riley.

Dr Shaw:

He read anything, he does after all, have an undetermined amount of time to live for. Weirdly enough he’s going through a Shakespeare phase. He’s happy to tell anyone who asks about the themes of Hamlet and the meta aspects of it. He also enjoys both reading and writing poetry.

Dr Iceberg:

Science fiction all the way. He’s read every starwars legends book there is. He once tried to get Gears into it but did not succeed.

Dr Gears:

Reads biography’s. He keeps a book in his desk drawer at all times.
