1858 Carvers

Continuing with my Tilly Johnson era of doubles, here is Solomon Carver, owner of Ravenden factory, and his wife Mona Carver. Solomon is the double of the canon Carvers and Leonard Carson, and Mona is built off the idea of Simon's wife Madeleine who was kidnapped in 1690.

Starting with Mona - Her face is based on the Julia model (basically because Marie Whitman in TDiM happens to be a Julia model and is married to Jeff who's a Carver model) and I tried to age her up a bit and borrowed from Marie's and Julia's outfits for her design:

Pink with knotted trim reminiscent of Julia's pink knotted t-shirt

Her brooch is a landscape painting similar to that t-shirt's graphic (minus the surfer ofc lol)

Her net overlay is inspired by Julia's black top with the openwork design

Blue belt and white (under)sleeves similar to Marie's

No hat because I didn't wanna. A hat would have been required but I have my priorities (curly hair✨), but she does have gloves, which are the random yellow color that was a thing in the mid-1800s

Solomon -

Black because he's in mourning. Mona dies in 1858 and his father was murdered by his evil son died some time before, so mourning is his vibe

Super wide hatband as was customary when a man was mourning his wife

His watch chain is made out of Mona's hair. He cares about her death to some degree so I thought it would be interesting. (Hair jewelry was a thing in the 1800s, not always because the person was dead)

Fancy cane is fancy. It's made out of wood and whalebone, because the whaling industry in the 1800s was centered nearby on the Massachusetts coast and a lot of crafty whalebone products came out of that

Also I don't know how tall the C's are supposed to be but in my mind Mona is tiny so that's where the height difference comes from 😁

A Tumblr Community for The Bill...?

Is there any interest in creating a community for fans of The Bill to discuss and have more opportunities to interact/chat about the show almost like a forum from what it sounds like?

Day 11: Possession

This chapter is very short and honestly nothing special, but feel free to skip it if you don't want to read about Carver for longer than the duration of this sentence. <3

11 – Possession (Carver)

Carver was obsessed with the Devil.

He saw him as the fallen angel he was, someone who had been rejected by God, had forged his own path and found a way to his own personal Heaven. Carver wanted to be just like him, and that meant eliminating everyone who might become a threat – or worse, someone who saw him as one.

Maybe that was his reason why he ultimately felt drawn to Mary. She was an innocent child, easy to manipulate, easy to be twisted around. Carver would make sure that this didn’t happen, so that Mary could help him get rid of the evil spirits that plagued Little Hope.

Who would doubt the words of a child?

Carver would help her see the truth, so she could help others to see it, too. He certainly liked the idea.

(Maybe he was also possessed by the Devil.)

Little Hope 1692 puritan dialogue

Okay so I've been working on this for the past few days and it was just as painful as it looks, in an attempt to figure out the way the puritan's speak so I can actually write fic set in their era that would come off as authentic to the games depictions of not entirely accurate to life, I have transcribed all of their dialogue across the 15 1692 scenes and compiled them here. There are instances where scenes of parts of scenes are repeated to include variations and places that may not make sense as I wrote exclusively 1600s character's dialogue, I don't claim there are no typos or stray line of dialogue missed(I ignored Mary singing ring around the rosey as its a commonly known song for example), I found the whole process to be educational and painful I feel that it helped me get to my goal and hopefully I'll be able to write something in that era I feel confident in and I truely hope the rest of you can also benefit from my very autistic labour of love

Scene two Amy(curious) Amy: Who are you? Amy: What is it you want from me? Amy: These are most troubling times. Amy: Stay away! Amy: Please Lord I beg you. Amy: Rid me of these apparitions. Amy: Fix your gaze elsewhere! You are no husband of mine.

Carver: I would not be so quick as to cast stones at others, Joseph. Carver: Not when your own conduct does not bear scrutiny. Amy: Please hear me good Judge, all accusations against me are false, they are founded only in malice. Wyman: If there be darkness among us I will shine- Mary: No! David: Mary?! Carver: Mary uses her poppet as a familiar to summon and serve the Devil! Wyman: We have been deceived by a child, by her guise of innocence. Wyman: This poppet, was mistakenly used to denounce Tabitha. Wyman: But it has always belonged to Mary alone. Wyman: She allowed her own kin to be executed as she watched in silence. So I know the 1600s doubles are often considered the best versions of themselves, but has anyone ever thought that Joseph drank too much/was an alcoholic? I've seen several players assume that was what Carver referred to at Amy's trial (the line "I respectfully ask this good court to pay no mind to a man whose very home is foul with the stench of brimstone" or alternatively "I would not be so quick as to cast stones at others, Joseph, not when your own conduct does not bear scrutiny"), particularly considering that Joseph didn't deny it. The second version of the line obviously shows that Carver was attacking Joseph's character and the first one sounds like everyone there is supposed to know what he's referring to, and while I always assumed he was just sowing the seeds to accuse Joseph of witchcraft later on I'm also thinking Joseph wouldn't have backed down so easily if he didn't know what Carver was talking about

Personally it strengthens the notion that all sukesh characters have it in them to take life if pressed hard enough(pun fully intended)

Also the C-J period of manipulation is a fascinating idea as even though Joseph clearly despised carver by the end he was still thoroughly swayed to rest blame at Mary's feet instead of Carver's and for all his efforts his lack of discernment ended up being yet another reason the eventual accusations against her were so effective
