Fun Pokégear fact!
Silph Co. began developing the first very model of Pokégear in 1996.
Originally, Pokégear was meant to have an integrated Pokédex. However, due to technological limitations at the time, the Pokégear's hardware did not allow enough storage space or memory to store a complete Pokédex's worth of data, while keeping its functionality as a phone.
The original design faced several other major problems, such as the tendency for the battery to overheat, sometimes causing the CPU to quite literally melt. This idea was scrapped, and the very first design for Pokégear never saw the light of day.
The first publicly available Pokégear model was released in 1998, and did not have these issues. Due to rapid technological advancements, it would have been able to contain an integrated Pokédex. Despite this, Silph Co. had abandoned the idea entirely, and instead adapted a radio card specifically for their newest gadget.

tell me everything you know about silph co and the porygon line
Silph Co
Silph Co is a technology company in Kanto, with the main building being located in Saffron City.
Silph Co managed to develop an item known as Silph Goggles, which allows people to see hidden ghost type pokemon. Researchers are testing this to see if they can discover any new Ghost-Type Pokemon.
Porygon
Polygon are a very recently discovered pokemon by Silph Co, but old documents about them have been found on Hisui, and researchers describe them as appearing because of the Space-Time-rifts. They can turn themselves into code and don't have physical organs, meaning they don't need things like food or water. Despite this, they still take and eat berries.

I pirated a porygon.
Meet my boy ibuprofen
[photo of a pastel porygon with a purple tint to it]
Neat they look healthy, with no obvious errors . I would recommend taking them to a Pokémon center for a standard porygon physical just to be sure, you didn’t get any malware or missing coded when you got Ibuprofen but beyond that have fun (FYI, try not to admit to pirating , especially of Sliph.co product . That company’s been known to be vindictive to people who Openly pirate their Ip’s)

The union has left for the day leaving only a bunch of wild sewaddle to guard the area they were striking. What they don't know is that I paid for three very powerful seven star eggs that know the amazing egg move Mud Shot and they hatched last week. My tympole, basculin, and stunfisk will make short work of these scamperous ruffians. Our loyal customers can expect this to come to a close soon.

If Porygons are made of computer code, how do they exist in the physical world? Also, how did Silph Co make them and for what purpose?
Well, that's the mystery. We don't have an exact answer as to how they were made or why. The official report is that they were accidently discovered while researching pokemon in the PC.
My porygon, Skip, is part of the early generation of Porygon, and my good friend @alexanders-pokemon-adventure had looked over his programming and found a lot of leftover files and such.
It didn't really reveal their origins, but it did show that early versions were comprised of leftover and incomplete data.
To be honest, I'm not a computer expert, but from what I have learned from having Skip, they seemed to be created from the early evolution of technology and pokemon storage.
Sometimes, things are made intentionally, and other times, they just happen and work out well.
People have agreed that Porygon 2 is the true, completed form, but I love Skip just the way he is, Glitches and all, and he's perfectly happy, too.
Sometimes, you might not get an answer to a big question, and you might just need to accept that you might need to accept that, but talking to a real technician could give you better answers.
I'm always happy to talk about Porygon either way!

Friendly Reminder that Silph Co. has-
Openly Anti-union policies.
Engaged in dangerous research practices with a lack of proper oversight or safety measures.
Maintained a corporate structure that takes advantage of its workers.
Uses its lawyers to silence all public criticism of them, to the point of resorting to threats.
And this isn't to mention any of the allegations I can't publicly talk about. So yeah, if anyone is engaging with that Silph Co. Brand account, don't trust them for a second.

Headcanon that Silph Co are about as bad as real world Mega Corporations.
The President was probably willingly making shady dealings with Geovanni, also the manufacture of the master ball(which I will talk about), which is the canon stuff.
I also Headcanon that they’re putting locals out of business on the Sevii Isles (cause aren’t they the reason the shopkeeper brother on Two Island is having trouble keeping his store open? Pretty sure they own pokemarts, and if not then at least most of the products pokemarts sell)
But yeah whatever
