how do you feel about the syncro machine? its some new invention in that one academy that frankly sounds like baloney to me but ive heard its real??? the idea of controlling a pokemon with your thoughts is kind of odd to me, though. im mostly just worried about the possibility of accidents/harm. would love to hear your thoughts on it, though.
from what i understand, it's a modified version of the same technology behind the capture styler that rangers use. it has a greater sensitivity to bioenergy and therefore a greater ability to project your intentions to the pokemon you're using it with, but it's also much harder to use- hence why it's still in testing in a limited environment. it's pretty hard to be perfectly in sync with a pokemon while following its independent movements through a camera! there's also the issue of the pokemon potentially getting very far away from the user and getting into danger.
i think with a lot more testing and adjustments, it can probably become a really helpful tool for rangers! but i also imagine it'll be a good while before we see it outside of the terarium.

Fun Pokégear fact!
Silph Co. began developing the first very model of Pokégear in 1996.
Originally, Pokégear was meant to have an integrated Pokédex. However, due to technological limitations at the time, the Pokégear's hardware did not allow enough storage space or memory to store a complete Pokédex's worth of data, while keeping its functionality as a phone.
The original design faced several other major problems, such as the tendency for the battery to overheat, sometimes causing the CPU to quite literally melt. This idea was scrapped, and the very first design for Pokégear never saw the light of day.
The first publicly available Pokégear model was released in 1998, and did not have these issues. Due to rapid technological advancements, it would have been able to contain an integrated Pokédex. Despite this, Silph Co. had abandoned the idea entirely, and instead adapted a radio card specifically for their newest gadget.

Fuck Unity (The game engine, not the concept)
They want up to TWENTY CENTS per game install, once you reach a certain number of installs.
TWENTY CENTS
Just imagine, 100 people install your game and you suddenly owe Unity 20 fucking dollars. Chances are, you haven't even made that much in profits from 100 sales.
It's time for unity to fucking die. How fucking dare they demand royalties from game devs for an engine THAT ISN'T EVEN FREE?
In case you don't know, here's a list of a few bigger games that use the Unity engine:
Hollow Knight
Rimworld
Subnautica
Pokemon Go
Cities: Skylines
Rust
Hearthstone
Pillars Of Eternity
Cuphead

Weird question:
Does a capture styler work on a Pokémon that has an "assigned" Pokéball? The only Ranger I've had the pleasure to interact with opted to bribe a spooked Yamper out from under my porch with a poffin, rather than break her styler out, and my online research hasn't really helped.
There's also some weird conspiracy stuff floating around online that claims styler tech is based on something called a Snag Machine? I don't think that's reputable, but I'm still kinda curious, nonetheless.
yes, a styler can work on a pokemon that's been caught. stylers are completely separate from pokeball technology and instead focus on the pokemon's emotional state. that way, stylers can still be useful for calming an upset pokemon that has an owner! pokemon that choose to accompany a ranger after being stylered do so because rangers feel safe and worth following temporarily.
the styler has nothing to do with snag machines, which were used to steal pokemon from their trainers in orre a couple decades ago. stylers cannot convince a pokemon that is wholly unwilling to go.

Terabyte found the Doom pokédex. So, now that Johto pokédex doubles as a portable game console, because it was absolutely overjoyed with that idea. We're installing a ton of things onto it now. Even though they're older, wow, those pokédexes have a surprising amount of storage space.
