One very important reason why the Silmarillion can never be filmed is the fact that the only acceptable actor to play Feanor would have been Laurence Olivier.  I mean, look at this man. If he asked you to start a rebellion, steal a whole fleet and follow him to an unknown country, wouldn’t you do it?
