we need to bring back silly words
I want to be able to say folly in a sentence, call someone a rapscallion, a fiend, I want to say oh codswallop and not be looked at weird. How hard it is to say snaffle, call someone a laddy. This is the change we need and I’m not afraid to say it

I really like the acronym rotfl or rofl I can't remember which one it is. It's fun though. I feel like it has more character than lmao or lol, even though I use those all the time and never use rotfl or rofl.

Prompt #4: Reticent
Another day at the tribe, another day that staying here scratched at Rose’s mind.  It was always the same, the tug of the Shroud under their feet as if it was a child asking when the elezen could come out to play.  But there were classes and training, all under the stern gaze of their teachers.  A decade after their trial and they could still feel the weight of disapproval in the older Bois de Coeur’s eyes.  So Rose kept their mismatched gaze down, focused on the tome that they were studying. The book itself was interesting, they finished it days ago.  The journal of one of the early Bois de Coeur kept Rose’s attention well into the wee hours of the night more than once.  The first time the stories intrigued, the second time Rose picked up on the disjointedness of the tales.  The entries didn’t quite fit together like one would expect.  Was the author unable to write in those times or were they deliberately left out?  There were passages that felt like clues to Rose, clues that might explain what they.. felt? What they thought they felt at least, what was supposed to be impossible to feel.  But did this man feel the same?  It seemed like it sometimes, but so much was missing it was impossible to be sure.
The teacher asked a question as Rose sighed, lost in their own thoughts. The sigh got a sharp look, the woman waiting to be noticed.  When she wasn’t she cleared her throat, but Rose continued to look down at the book with unfocused eyes.  A hand slammed down onto the table before Rose, causing the book to jump up towards their face and rattled their pencil off and onto the floor.  The scare had their heart thumping in their chest and their nerves rattled. They tried to catch it, hands shaking too much for them to do anything but fumble the pencil.  A disapproving snort and the teacher waited with a stern glare. .  Uhoh... Rose froze at the snort, abandoning the pencil to roll across the ground.  They did their best to hide their reluctance, swallowing hard at what they saw in the woman’s eyes. Their shoulders crept upwards as they waited, unsure as to what was expected of them, again.  “Did you hear my question?” “No.” “Why not, hearing the Shroud talk to you again?”, the disbelief was impossible to miss in the woman’s tone, expression just shy of a sneer. “No, I was reading.”  “Did you not read it already?” “I did.”  “Then act like it and pay attention to the lesson.” “Yes mam.” The teacher turned away, looking to one of the other students who quickly answered the question.  It left Rose huddled in their seat, wishing they could disappear.  Maybe, maybe they could? Surely anywhere would be better than here.  But... Ren and Moni.  They didn’t want to leave them either.  No, they couldn’t.  They would have to do better, that’s all. It was the only answer.  Behave and learn even when they knew it was wrong. Please, let them be wrong and not me.  Please...

Story: Watermelon bay
Today was like any other day, we tended to the farm, watering, weeding, and cleaning. It was like a never-ending cycle.
In these woods, it was hard to tell anything, yet time was one we could tell. Two things helped, the sun and Grandpa's watch. We had to be careful of the sun, as it can be covered by clouds for long periods, but Grandpa's watch was never wrong. That you learned. Trust the watch for the time.
"never go to the watermelon bay at night."
You didn't understand why at first, thinking it's just a silly folk scare for kids to stay obedient, but you where so very wrong.
You didn't heed your guardians words, and snuck out. In your hands a half broken latern, just slightly flickering and illuminating the path for you. The grass was soft and slightly wet under your slippers, but you brushed it off to morning rain. You wentured closer to the bay, feeling a cold breeze brush the back of your head as you stoped. The bay was in sight, yet you hesitated and asking yourself
"why are we not allowed here, of all places"
Yet, you walked forward. As you walked, watermelons began to peak from the sides of the path. They grew in density the closer you got to the water, the-
Crunch.
You looked down, you didn't step on a watermelon, in fact, you didn't step on anything.
Crunch
Your brows furrowed as you looked around, moving the lantern with you as you looked. Now the wind didn't seem so comforting anymore. It was quiet.
Crunch.
You quickly turned and shined your light in the direction. There, in the slightly illuminated light was half a face, it's white eyes dialating to the light. Your neck felt tight, your body heavy. Did you step into a mud pile? No, you felt like the earth was eating you up. You found something you should not have.
Your hand began to shake, and you dropped the lantern. A small muffled thud echoed, and a webed greenish yellow claw reach out for it. Hooking a claw on the handle and draging it closer to itself.
You didn't waste anymore time, you bolted out of the bay.

I (and every other person who said something similar) predicted Velma when I said that it wouldn't be long before shows and movies were going to be made with the exclusive intent to be hatewatched and raged about online. Get used to shows like Velma because I promise more are coming, even though no one wants them to.
