Thoughts on shaun

Shaun getting more clever and learning things is probably terrifying for the dude owning the garage Shaun lives in, like that scene in Jurassic Park where the raptors use the door knob.

Hes seen what shaun does, and this thing pretending to be human is slowly getting better at it. In itself kinda scary, but less so when its easy to push him around.

He's picking up mannerisms, instead of shifting around like he doesn't know where to put his arms.

Shaun Imitating peoples poses, crossing his arms when others do, i think it makes him feel more like hes a part of the group and being better at human

I don't think he talks much still but he is moving from single words to small sentences, still talks about himself in third person tho. Talks like someone who is esl but with all the connecting words partly missing or needing work.

Repeats stuff, the tv being the worst offender, but in fitting situations.

Like commenting on the bloodstains with what hes heard about detergent. "Hard to remove stains?" Hed mutter, "silkwhite, For best results" like some murderous parrot.

Understands that someone else might feel stuff, not just him. Might try and fail to offer support/comfort.

Monotone voice, doesnt know how sarcasm or wordplay works, very straight forward.

Gets better glasses, helps more now that his eyes are getting better.

I think he is starting to understand his disguise isnt perfect, hes not very expressive but he knows he should keep his mouth shut around strangers.

But watching this thing you know isnt human, get better at acting like a human is probably unnerving as shit.

What’s something that makes you happy?- Puppies! My puppies in particular. They’re the most loving little floofs in the entire world.

Describe a rad person you know:- You! You’re so intelligent, kind, patient and lovely. You make my heart ache with how fiercely loving you are to your friends. You’ve been my rock throughout a lot of rough times and I’ve been gross and bad. You teach me and introduce me to new things, and I come away with a brand new interest. You’re the best Ben there is.

Talk about something someone you are interested in can do that never fails to make you find them attractive:- When she sings, my worries go away, my heart swells and I smile until my cheeks hurt.

List your top 5 songs at the moment, and how they make you feel:- I don’t really have a top 5 at the minute, I’ve just been listening to a lot of Explosions in the Sky. My all time favourite is So Long, Lonesome. It makes me feel extremely melancholic at the start but when it ends I feel the polar opposite. It’s a hard feeling to explain. 

List songs you listen to for a jam:- Hollaback Girl, World Princess Part 2, Boys Wanna Be Her, Causing A Commotion, She Wildin’, Fergalicious, Tambourine. There’s loads more, but these are ones that get me right in the mood for a drink and a dance.

Where’s somewhere you would love to travel to, why?- Norway. I’ve wanted to go for so many years. The cold dark weather attracts me greatly and it just seems like such a beautiful peaceful, scenic country. I think it would be an incredible experience.

Genshin Impact wildlife vs. the real-life creatures that inspired them*: Birds of Prey

*[Note: while most Genshin wildlife is fairly obvious in its sources of inspiration, the birds of prey seem to have been designed with more creative license. These identifications are the closest that I could come up with; please let me know if you can make a more positive ID!]

The “falcons” in Teyvat are confusing birds. Though most have “falcon” in their name, an achievement for shooting one down refers to them as hawks, and the designs themselves have beak and wing shapes more consistent with eagles. Perhaps “falcon” is more of a colloquial than technical term in Teyvat - the word itself derives from the Latin falcis, ‘sickle’, referring to the birds’ talons. 

The distinctive barring on the tail of the Umbertail falcon makes me particularly skeptical of my ID on this one despite the striking resemblance to the grey-headed fish eagle. My next guess would be the Chinese sparrowhawk (Accipiter soloensis), the female of this species being somewhat similar and having the barred tail, but lacking the darker collar.

The only actual falcon from which the designers seem to have drawn inspiration is the kestrel, reflected in the design for the Brownwing falcon. However, the Brownwing falcon also bears resemblance to the rufous-bellied eagle (Lophotriorchis kienerii), which also has the distinctive white “bib” and red underside. 

 The name “Lapis Glede” means 'stone falcon'. 'Glede' is also an archaic word for ember, which could be a reference to their buff coloring. This bird also bears a very strong resemblance to the American bald eagle (Haliaeetus leucocephalus), which is very closely related to the African fish eagle but is overall a much darker brown.

There are a number of pale or mostly-white raptors, but I think the white hawk is the closest match to the Silkwhite falcon because it is the only one with dark wingtips - all other similar species have either entirely black or entirely gray wings.
