Birthday Cake (Silver)

There's actually a tradition about birthday cakes back where the Prefect comes from.

NOTE: I only write for female reader but everyone is welcome to read it!

Silver sighs contently, watching as Sebek causes a ruckus with his friends—though Sebek will deny them being his friends, but Silver knows better after years of being raised alongside the crocodile fae. A yawn makes its way past his lips and he has no desire to stop it, instead nosing the fragrant hair of the Ramshackle Prefect.

“Do you want to go sleep in your room, Sil?”

“... no, it’s fine. I quite enjoy it here,” he answers her truthfully, another yawn following his words. “I can stay awake for a bit longer, I think.”

“Well, just say the word and I’ll help you get away from the noise.”

“Thank you. How’s the cake?”

“Really good! Thank you for giving me the first slice, it means a lot to me.”

“How so?”

“Well…” she trails off, and while he can’t see her face from where his cheek rests on top of her head, he can imagine the bashfulness of her expression. “Where I came from, you give the first slice of your birthday cake to the person you like the most… I know you didn’t mean it like that, but still, thank you for thinking of me first.”

“... I’m always thinking of you, so it wasn’t a hard choice to make.”

Silver is forced to move to avoid his head smacking the backseat of the loveseat when (Y/N) turns to look at him. He blinks sleepily at her, taking in the features he has seen time and time again in his sweetest dreams. He knows his confession is not conventional, he did not bring her to a beautiful place nor offered her some flowers like his father advised him to do when he asked, but the moment feels too right to stick with the stiffness of a “proper” confession. So instead he leans down and kisses her forehead softly.

“I love you.”

Silver falls asleep just as she whispers his words back to him.

He hopes he’ll dream of this moment every time he closes his eyes.

summertime

on july 10, i had an “interview” with my director about the new position. i was worried and wasn’t sure if i needed to prep as if it were a real interview. however, it was mainly him talking and explaining the scope and need of the job. he mentioned there were 90 applicants and that he’ll need to interview one additional person for formality, but implied that the ball is in my court. 

on july 11, we flew out to LAX. arrowhead regional center provided matt a flight, two nights hotel at the hilton doubletree in san bernandino, and a rental car. we also kept our food expenses separate so that he can comp his. LAX national rental was by far the most seamless car rental experience we’ve ever had. we literally just chose a car ourselves and left (they checked for ID at the exit). had dinner at a korean place in gardena and drove 1.5 hours to the IE. 

i automatically felt more relaxed/less tense being in california. the openness, the larger spaces, the nature, the hot/sunny weather were so nice to take in. everything is much more segregated in LA, so if we walk into a korean restaurant, most of the patrons are asian, and i feel transported to asia. whereas in nyc, the population at ethnic restaurants can be extremely mixed. you’d get all colors of the rainbow. 

on this trip, i learned about why i’ve been feeling that matt and i are on different timelines on moving back to california. i learned that he subconsciously associates california/riverside with failure (failure of not matching into residency for two years, not progressing in his career) and the subsequent pressure from his mom, and he associates nyc with success (he accelerated in his residency program, and landed his first big boy attending job here at a prestigious hospital). from my worry trick book, i learned that if we had bad memories associated with something, our amygdala remembers that. the only way to override associating X with bad memories, is to create new memories with X! basically this ties into the counterintuitive idea, of do more of what may cause fear (within reason). 

on july 13, i had my 3rd therapy session. i was overall pretty content that day and i mostly had good news to share with my therapist. we talked about being in california and getting to visit family, my promotion, me going out of the apartment more in NYC and enjoying it, talks between matt and i about upgrading to a one-bedroom apartment (joel legit laughed for 2 minutes when i said we wanted to upgrade from a 500 sq ft to a 700 sq ft place, as he’s in florida). my session ended 10 min short that day, which was understandable because i didn’t have that much to talk about, but i felt bad that i didn’t “milk” the whole 50 minutes as i’m paying a bit over $50/session. as the subscription is pay by month, my current plan is to see joel weekly until the end of august and then cancel my membership. 

update: the apartment we were looking into possibly upgrading to disappeared. we were almost ready to pay an extra $1,100/mo (impulsively). after more careful thinking, we’re both letting the idea go and will make the most of our covid-rate apartment. the extra funds we’re “saving” means more towards health and wellness, food, and plane tickets of course.

stereoscope’s matcha is one of the best (though i think they sadly changed their menu on my last day in town)

went to baar baar fancy indian food double date with T & M, then to check out the lotus festival (indonesian themed this year)

got 50% off uber eats groceries from erewhon, so got to try 4 juices. also went to the store in person to check out all the tik tok bashing/hype and got $8 for returning all 4 bottles. it’s like a step above whole foods but overall a pretty normal/good grocery store that social media exaggerated.

took my dad to lawry’s for a belated birthday dinner. it was just our immediate family because my SIL & baby were in SF. my parents were very happy to have eaten at beverly hills, and it was all our first times dining there. the food was ok because it didn’t fit our palates

matt’s interview went fine - i think most importantly, he got to meet other doctors who have been in the field for longer. one of the doctors commutes from santa monica to IE every day on his week on. with more interviews, he’s learning more about what to look for and what he wants

our family friend who is a family doctor in his 50s wanted to meet with both my brother and matt, so we all had coffee in pasadena. this family doctor has opened a clinic in chinatown, and will be opening another in 626 area next month. it seemed he wanted to recruit matt, and possibly work with my brother on a coffee business. i felt we were very green next to him. he’s single and without a family, and it seems his free time is used towards big brain thinking of how to make/invest (even more) money. for example, he’s partnering up with some guys in arizona with the idea of franchising a taco store. the main takeaway i had from this meeting were tricks on lowering taxes for a physician/physician family lol

matt and i attended a hot yoga class in echo park. it was already like 90-95 degrees out at 2pm, and the room was even warmer. LA felt so much more natural and less synthetic, and people can tolerate the heat much better. matt died in this class lol and could not follow the movements after 15 minutes because it was too hot

i took my mom and grandma on quite a few adventures: mission impossible at the americana AMC using tmobile tuesday $5 tickets, in n out, hot pot, grocery shopping, tmobile store to get free tote bags. seems like a small gesture but my mom and grandma really enjoyed the movie going experience, and they said it was their first time sitting on recliner seats

saw stephanie quickly for coffee! seems like my LA friends are all growing up and trying to hustle. 

made an appointment to get a pap smear, finally. and will get an ultrasound for the area where i previously had surgery (as i’ve been having some discomfort) just to have peace of mind.

did a 3 mile evening hike and chinese dinner with matt’s family 

i love how i can line dry my clothes and air dry my hair (very quickly) in sunny LA

my director emailed me on july 17 and asked what i thought about a 15% increase. this will still have to go through comp to get approved. i have never negotiated within my current HR team. with them being so flexible with my remote work/out of state situation, i decided asking for 20% might come off too greedy, so i asked for 18%. it’s only a couple thousand difference, but it all adds up! regardless, i would be content with 15% and appreciative of the opportunity.

Let me tell you my top 5 anime and then about my selfship then  (≧◡≦) For the top 5 I’M going to pick normal length anime’s (like i love one piece but it’s like 900 episodes and I feel like suggesting that would be cruel but if you’re up for the challenge to it xD)

Birthday event: Alphabet and Interactions

Top 5 Anime

1. Black Clover (Episode count 157 - ongoing)

Okay if you want something action packed + fighting the system made up by asshole royals this is for you. 

Basically to give you a summary in this world magic is everything, everyone can use it except for Asta. Asta and his brother Yuno want to become magic knights and travel to the capital and participate in the magick knight exame, Asta gets picked for the worst squad and Yuno the best one, their adventure starts from there. 

Animation very good, story, in my humble opinion, good. So yeah go watch it before this too gets to like a 900 episodes xD   

2. Toilet Bound Hanako-kun! (Episode Count 12 one season but there probably will be more) 

I just watched this and fell in love with it enough to start the manga because I can’t wait for season 2 to come out :’D The animation is very pretty and you just want to learn more about the characters, highly recommend! so here’s what 9anime’s summary about it: 

“The famous "Seven Wonders" that every school seems to have are a staple of Japanese urban legends. One of the most well-known of these tales is that of Hanako-san: the ghost of a young girl who haunts the school's bathrooms. Kamome Academy has its own version of Hanako-san's legend. Rumors claim that if one successfully manages to summon Hanako-san, she will grant her summoner any wish. Lured by the gossip, many people have tried to call upon her, yet every attempt has failed. 3. Haikyuu! (There’s four seasons but I don’t know how many episodes and I’m too lazy to count sorry :’D) 

I’m sure you’ve heard of Haikyuu, basically it’s a sports anime about volleyball. I was one of those skeptics saying that I wouldn’t enjoy sports anime but here we are. 

The animation and learning about each individual characters story really gets you hooked so if you haven’t check this out yet you totally should! 

4. Jujutsu Kaisen (Episode Count 12 - Ongoing)

Ah yes the ever famous Jujutsu Kaisen, there’s a reason why everyone’s talking about it, it’s because it’s very very good. If you like your hero stuff with angst and interesting worldview philosophies I highly recommend! Here’s what 9anime says: 

“Idly indulging in baseless paranormal activities with the Occult Club, high schooler Yuuji Itadori spends his days at either the clubroom or the hospital, where he visits his bedridden grandfather. However, this leisurely lifestyle soon takes a turn for the strange when he unknowingly encounters a cursed item. 5. Banana Fish (Episode count 24 - Complete) 

I’m not gonna say much about this other then I still think about it, also this has mature themes and again I won’t say much but it’s angst but it also has its cute moments! highly recommend! Also if you do start watching do not look up ANYTHING about it!

“Ash Lynx, was a runaway picked off the streets of New York City and raised by the infamous godfather of the mafia, Dino Golzine. Now 17 years old and the boss of his own gang, Ash gets his hands on a mysterious drug called "Banana Fish"—the same two words his older brother, Griffin, has muttered since his return from the Iraq War. At the bar, Skip, Ash's friend, introduces him to Shunichi Ibe and his assistant, Eiji Okumura, who are Japanese photographers reporting on American street gangs.”

Now on to my Selfship! 

Okay I won’t keep this super long (I do want to post some selfship stuff but honestly I’m not sure anyone would want to read those xD) I ship myself in a poly relationship with both Dazai and Chuuya.

 In canon world I also joined the port mafia pretty much at the same time as Dazai, we already had somewhat of a relationship but Dazai, as we all know, was a bit too intense back then but when Chuuya joined I realized that I like them both and slowly out relationship starts to bloom. Chuuya is quicky to realize he might have a bit of feelings for Dazai too and even if he never told him, in order to understand himself better he rolls with it. 

But when Dazai decides he’s going to leave I try to stop him but then end up going with him, leaving Chuuya a letter before we go. 

So that’s pretty much the gist of it xD I didn’t write much of the relationship dynamics because I just thought it would be too long of a post buuuuut if anyone is interested feel free to ask!

i hate i hate i HATE CHR*STMAS i hate the INSTITUTION OF GIFT GIVING it’s all about CONSUMERISM and PEER PRESSURE

i hate the EXCHANGE OF OBJECTS i hate the HOARDING OF STUFF

i got 10 gifts tonight. of those 10 gifts, i can use and/or like 4 of them. (wet cat food which was actually a gift for gracie lol, a gift card, new sheets bc mine are the wrong size, and a new office chair). those things are really nice gifts and i’m grateful! especially the office chair because mine BROKE recently and they’re expensive and hard to find (my mom and her buddy went halvsies on it)

however this leaves me 6 things i do not want and cannot use...some of them are from my mom, who really DID NOT NEED to get me SO MANY gifts because i only got her 2. (i hate the imbalance of reciprocity because i will never have enough money to get gifts for all the people that give ME gifts.) 1 of them is from my mom’s buddy. so that’s all stuff i can’t even resell at the flea market because they’d see them and get their feelings hurt and the house is already so full of stuff we don’t need or use that we can’t even have company over and every year my mom cries about how ashamed of it she is and EVERY YEAR WE ACCUMULATE MORE STUFF and i have to be polite! i have to pretend i want the stuff!

and the gifts i got that i don’t want and can’t use came from people i only see twice ever, on thanksgiving and christmas, and i barely know them, and they barely know me, and actually i don’t even LIKE some of them (and they don’t like me - got into it on FB once before i stopped visiting that site permanently). 

and then we have to give the stuff! to everyone! we don’t have any money but every year at christmas we have to put together gifts for LITERALLY dozens of people - flea market people, family people, nursing home buddy people, friend circle a, friend circle b, etc etc etc

we spend all this time putting together stuff that’s either cheaply-bought & easily mass-produced (like mugs with hot chocolate) that I KNOW NOBODY ACTUALLY WANTS or stuff that we can’t really afford - my brother and i frequently get up to $100+ bucks worth of christmas gifts - again, most of which i don’t want and can’t use and which my mother CANNOT AFFORD TO GIVE US - because “it’s christmas” and we have to have a mountain of presents. THAT IS JUST CONSUMERISM

and my mother can never EVER put together that many gifts on time. NEVER. i am ALWAYS the one helping her do it. in the MIDDLE of winter when i don’t want to do anything but die, basically! for my least favorite holiday! and then when i’m not jumping for joy and excitedly doing the wrapping like santa’s good little fucking helper i get yelled at for having a bad attitude and ruining the holidays!!

and GOD FORBID. that everything isn’t picture-perfect! a speck of dirt on a mug? a crack? okay let’s toss it and get a new one. let’s scrub it. a price sticker? that’s gotta come off, residue and all. no we can’t just partially peel it. no we can’t just color over it with a sharpie

and it’s not just the gifts! i got glared at MULTIPLE times today just for opening my fucking mouth. someone says about my aunt’s dog: “aw, she’s a good dog.” me, jokingly: “good and spoiled!” and then i get the death glare. literally no one, NO ONE, was offended except my mother, not even my aunt herself, who is notoriously easily offended. i shit talk my own cats all the time! it wasn’t that big of a deal! i didn’t call anybody racist or anything! tried to tell my aunt how i found the old pictures of her dog as a puppy i got her as her gift and got SHUSHED because my mom thought i was going to inadvertently give away someone else’s gift, as if i don’t have any fucking common sense. she’s just that paranoid! that one little thing! will be ruined!

and then there’s the actual dinner which is a HUGE PAIN IN THE ASS to cook, and do the men help? never. they do good to carry the food to the table when it’s finished. they don’t help cook, they don’t help clean, they don’t even pay for the fucking groceries. they sit and watch tv!!! they talk shit about minorities and homeless people!!!!! and if i say anything then I AM THE ONE RUINING CHRISTMAS

and nobody in my family is even EXCITED OR GRATEFUL we’re all just a bunch of ASSHOLES?? so last night we spent an hour gift wrapping ten different blankets and labeling them with what color they were and today everyone picked a blanket and nobody was really excited about it. blankets are boring gifts you give to people who you don’t know well! so that whole hour was spent for 5 minutes of mediocre graditude! like what is even the point! yk at least when i get useless stuff i don’t need i give it my best college try at being 

and when my mom asks me! why do you hate christmas! and i try to explain that i hate the institution of gift-giving! when i’m like, i don’t like it, it’s exhausting and expensive! she’s like well the whole point of christmas is the spirit of giving!! and [GAMESHOW BUZZER SOUND] W R O N G ! the point of christmas is CAPITALISM and PEER PRESSURE and PERFECTIONISM this shit ain’t about jesus even i, an atheist, knows that jesus would weep to see how shallow and false his bday bash is every year

and i have stayed up late MULTIPLE nights in a row wrangling GIFTS, some of which are for people i’ve never even MET, all because my mother likes to bite off more than she can chew EVERY YEAR. she has like a basket of lollipops she wants to give out at the local nursing home and she went through THREE BASKETS so that the arrangement of lollipops would be pretty. she re-wrapped my SIL’s gift because it was ugly. it doesn’t matter if she’s tired and her arthritis is killing her and she’s past her bedtime she will not stop until all the gifts look like they came from martha stewart or some shit! and they are just! going to get ripped up!

and we didn’t even have time to play giant jenga today which is the ONLY acceptable chr*stmas activity and we probably won’t have time to play tomorrow either!!!!!!!!!! stupid! the whole thing is stupid! i hate mass gift-giving! birthdays only! BIRTHDAYS ONLY. only specific people should be getting gifts at a time!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! CHR*STMAS IS STUPID IT IS LITERALLY THE WORST HOLIDAY AND IT LASTS FOR TWO MONTHS E V E R Y Y E A R BECAUSE GOD HATES ME PERSONALLY I GUESS chr*stmas being the longest holiday and also set in the winter is my punishment from god for being an atheist and frankly @ god fuck you too pal

rosebuzz kids

been meaning to make this post for a while but rosa and buzz have too many kids (SIX) lol. but they live on a farm (which i will post about eventually) outside of houston so they have plenty of room.

jacob abraham “jake” goldman

born september 15, 2018

his biological mother is polly bernhardt, but rosa adopts him when he’s seven and has been basically raising him since before he was five

guitar and piano prodigy. has been obsessed with music since buzz gave him his ukelele as a little kid.

total metal head. all his sisters hate it except sil.

he’s in a metal band for a long time. rosa’s very into it (in a really nerdy mom way) and goes to almost every show he plays in the city. she always wears a bunch of their merch and calls herself their “roadie” (which jake hates). buzz comes sometimes but it can be too loud for him to handle. jake understands.

teaches guitar and piano lessons for a living when he grows up. he’s classically trained and goes to berklee after high school.

he plays drums in school band in middle school and is on the drum line for three years in high school. also plays bass for the jazz band.

started skateboarding when he was six and when they leave the city for the country, rosa designs him a mini ramp on their land since the roads are mostly gravel or dirt.

hates having his hair short

such a good big brother. older than the rest by eight years but he takes his role as a big bro very seriously and looks after his little sisters and brother. he never complains when he has to babysit when he’s older.

he doesn’t mind working on the farm but he’s not into it like his dad is. but when he’s eighteen, buzz shows him the greenhouse where he grows medical marijuana for local dispensaries - which had always been strictly off limits for the kids. it’s the first time jake thinks of agriculture as fun.

very quiet and introspective. most of his focus is spent on his music. frequently referred to as antisocial and was teased a lot as a kid.

lilia hannah “lily” goldman 

born may 21, 2026

very skilled artist. loves drawing and painting. she draws on the walls a lot as a little kid and her parents never ever paint over her drawings. they love to talk about her masterpieces.

could be found every morning before anyone else woke up watching cartoons in the living room. loved cartoons so much.

loves “old” (old in the 2030s) cartoons her parents show her. she dresses as finn the human for halloween four years in a row. 

draws cartoons all the time about her family. which her dad loves so much and always hangs on the fridge.

the first one she does is of buzz with a beard of bees when she’s three and he keeps it in his wallet forever

fridge features include grumpy old man jake and rosa as a superhero called supermama who appears multiple times 

becomes an animator when she grows up

very bubbly and optimistic, excited about everything but also very bashful and is constantly embarrassed by her family

to be fair she’s very awkward and usually embarrasses herself more than her family does

hates disappointing people and always takes too much on her plate to make everyone happy

is constantly way too hard on herself and gets stressed out very easily

she gets this from her mother, who can always tell when lily gets in that mood and tears her away from her homework to watch animated movies and decompress

sophia demetria goldman

born november 4, 2027

fraternal twin of silvia

they couldn’t be more different and they aren’t that close but sophia always stands up for sil no matter what.

total daddy’s girl. loves working in the fields with him more than anything. they talk for hours.

they spend so much time gossiping. buzz knows so much about the social hierarchy of every class sophia is in. he knows about every snotnose kid who was mean to his daughter and gives them dirty looks when he drops the kids off or sees them at birthday parties. 

she tells buzz basically everything about her life. they’re super close.

when she goes to college she makes buzz get whatever device they use in 2046 so they can message all the time. he iris messages her every time anyways.

goes to the farmer’s market with buzz every weekend and is always a smash hit with the customers. she knows how to play up her cuteness.

she’s just like the nicest, sweetest, most well-behaved kid. buzz and rosa have no clue how it happened.

loves flowers and gardening. they didn’t have a flower garden before sophia expressed interest, but buzz set it up just for her. she spends so much of her free time there. even if she’s not gardening, she has a hammock set up where she’ll do her homework or hang out.

ridiculously caring and selfless. 

the sweetest nicest bean ever. would not hurt a fly.

so smart. not just in school but rosa swears she got 100% of the athena wisdom gene. she gives amazing advice. 

ends up becoming a therapist when she grows up. and her home garden is magnificent.

born november 4, 2027

she prefers “sil” to silvia

got buzz’s crazy curls

loves loves loves animals, bugs, and biology. has to be told several times by her parents to stop hanging out with wild animals on the farm and still doesn’t really listen.

she sneaks insects inside that end up escaping and it’s no fun for anyone. she did this with a snake once and got grounded for a month. never again.

whatever it is it usually ends up in sophia’s bed because they share a bunkbed. sophia has a complete meltdown every single time.

talks to caterpillars and chases butterflies when she’s supposed to be picking vegetables. also loves playing in the dirt as a kid.

seriously buzz and rosa have to wash her like three times a day because she keeps coming back inside covered in mud

reads all the time, mostly nonfiction books about animals. 

she enthusiastically shows pages about inchworm digestion to sophia, who screeches immediately

doesn’t get along great with her sisters but is super close with jake (also adam to an extent because they’re both science geeks). they’re both kind of social outcasts in school so he gets her really well even though he’s nine years older.

jake shows sil metal and she’s all about it

when she’s 10-11 and he’s 19-20 jake takes her to a couple of his shows and she has the time of her life.

on the spectrum. she’s has high-functioning autism. she mostly just doesn’t look people in the eye and when someone is saying something she’s not interested in she tends to tune them out completely.

tomboy/gender non-conforming. doesn’t care about gender norms.

not very interested in other people or in making friends. she has her own thing going on instead.

can be mean but it’s not on purpose

ends up becoming a wildlife biologist when she grows up. plays the doctor card nonstop as soon as she gets her phd. even her nieces and nephews call her “dr. auntie sil”

amalia michelle goldman

born july 12, 2029

her family often calls her ‘mali/molly’ but she prefers amalia

the most dramatic of the six kiddos because there’s too many of them and it’s really hard to get attention. she’s the kid who always has to cause a scene.

car rides are a nightmare. “mama! adam keeps poking me! tell him to stop right now!” “no i’m not! tattle!” “mama if adam keeps poking me i’m going to open the door and get out on the street and probably die!”

every time she gets sick as a kid she acts as if she’s going to die and writes a will where she leaves her jerk siblings nothing because they’re jerks who suck 

had a grudge against adam until he was like six because he usurped her as the baby of the family.

there’s an infamous family video of a five year old amalia pushing a crying two year old adam off his tricycle and it gets played at every hannukah and christmas.

somehow around the time they’re about 7/9 they actually become friends

your typical try hard nerd. very much like her mom. gets over-competitive about everything, total know it all, tries to take control of any room she’s in

president of like every nerdy club in high school

she loves using difficult vocabulary. everybody else hates it.

amalia and rosa have been prohibited from being on the same team or going 1v1 on family game night because it gets too intense too fast and then family game night is cancelled

consistently has the cleanest bedroom in the house

very logical and efficient. comes up with her own systems so she can be the best at everything.

becomes an english teacher. all her siblings say they feel bad for her students. she eventually becomes a principal. they say the same thing about the entire school.

adam emiliano goldman

born february 14, 2032

total mama’s boy. loves his mom and hangs out with her all the time. even in his teens. he doesn’t care what anyone says about that.

she calls him lovebug because he was born on valentines day

very smart, witty, and energetic

really a heartbreaker tbh

naturally gets attention by just who he is as a person

this enrages amalia

he loves school but always gets sent to the office for arguing with teachers. this happens throughout his entire schooling from kindergarten to senior year

rosa is so proud every time

very into his video games. and this is in the future so i bet it’s super cool and VR by then.

weirdly good at rapping and most of the family’s kinda unsure how they feel about this

gets into 90s east coast rap and buzz tell him he was there he was a toddler but he was there

he listens to so much old school rap it really amps him up

isn’t intimidated by anyone. constantly stands up to bullies no matter who they’re targeting.

he get’s buzz’s height - ends up being even taller at 6′4″ - and gets pretty good at basketball. he even goes to college on a basketball scholarship.

buzz hangs a hoop in the driveway and they play so much

buzz sees him playing basketball on tv for the first time and cries real dad tears

science nerd - loves chemistry specifically

House Shows or Bust? By, Sil C. Sep. 4, 2017

On a late afternoon, I was with my brother Rowan, a Pittsburgh artist such as myself. He was telling me about his grand scheme about starting a memorial show for Neutral Milk Hotel’s Airplane Over The Sea for its 20th birthday in February. As we were sitting in The O, Pittsburgh’s Original hot dog shop, he checked out this house show that was happening at The Bushnel in North Oakland. Now, I have never gone to a house show before. I’ve always wanted to go, but I’ve been burnt out from work most of the time. So, there we were, at The Bushnel jamming out, having a great time. It was called “The Back to School Bash.” The line up was Portrait People, Pinstripe Sunny, Surf bored, and other local artists (links to their works are at the bottom).  Everyone there was very nice and friendly. I made new friends and talked to people about my ideas as an artist. They shared theirs too. The groups that played were outstanding. Stu, if you are reading, thank you so much, that was one hell of a show! I can’t wait for more in the future. If you are new to Pittsburgh’s DIY scene, either you’re not from here, or you wanna get into it. Go to a house show, or a DIY venue, such as The Mr. Roboto Project or others. Trust me; the experience of listening to live music, meeting people, and having a blast, is just wonderful.
