#minina system shenanigans - Same thing, but make it silly!
#signed by [X] - Posts/Reblogs from specific headmates [replace X with the headmate's name for their particular tag]. We will not sign off on anything unless we want it to be know (be it to others or each other)
#ask box - Responses to asks.

#not my art - Reblogs of others' art or art related posts (typically includes fandom related tags).
#faves <3 - The art/posts that we are absolutely obsessed with (or think are extremely important).
This user doesn't believe in endogenic systems OR narcissistic abuse. (There's no such thing as "narc abuse" there's many different types of abuse, and people with NPD aren't more likely to abuse, you're just ableist. We also believe the concept of endogenic "systems" are also ableist, and recognize their community has a long history of ableism.)
This system doesn't force source seperation. (We believe no alter should be forced to do anything, but recommend that alters at least recognize their current situation, to better help the system along with help their own healing journey along.)
This system loves talking about their system. Please ask questions about them! (Keep in mind we won't answer anything to do with our trauma, triggers or other information that may put us at risk.)
This system appreciates it when you acknowledge their plurality. (Because we're our own people, we've just lived extremely similar lives.)
This systems alters are often co-con. (So don't try any funny business, we got backup.)
This system is Cluster B. (We also have some Cluster C, but we're mainly NPD and HPD.)
This system is collectively aspec. (Varies between headmates.)
This system is collectively a satanist. (As in Atheist but heavily identifies with the romantic view of Lucifer, along with many alters being demons/fallen angels/cryptids/god(esse)s.)
This system has a lot of Supernatural introjects. (Besides aforementioned demons, god(esse)s, and cryptids, we also have robots, dragons, a shapeshifter, a possessed doll, witches, a vampire, and a werewolf.)
This user is not normal about music. (We like metal, rap, dubstep, and ambient.)

Thinking...........................
Killua not realizing that he'd been thinking of Nanika as a threat to Alluka ;-; Or rather, he thought of ILLUMI as a threat to Alluka, and thought that Nanika never coming out again would protect Alluka, when really it WOULDN'T. He was desperate, this whole arc he's been SO desperate to save Alluka... And without realizing it, he hurt Alluka and Nanika both ;-; He became the thing he wanted to crush,,
Thinking thinking thinking. About unconditional love and about how Alluka rejects his love even though he's the only one who loves her. Killua tells her to not think about anyone else, but Alluka DOES think about Nanika, who is a part of her :')
Also there's something to be said for how Alluka would be fine with herself disappearing but not with Nanika disappearing. She's desperate for everyone to be happy, because she can't conceive of not wanting her family to be happy. She's bought into the story that they've just been doing it to protect the family, despite Nanika and herself being the object of fear
I suppose this is a sign that Alluka has started to realize her own worth, or at the very least NANIKA'S worth. Because nobody is there to protect Nanika except for Alluka herself, so she has to. The same way nobody was there for her except Killua :') She learned from the best :')
And maybe neither of them know how to love themselves because the Zoldycks don't want them to. They want them to be killers and not protect each other, for them to not even be FAMILY. But they are. And together they're able to leave the family and stop being controlled by their manipulation, and the thought that what they are, WHO they are, is worse for the good of the family. Because they are their own people. Wahhhhh.
#hunter x hunter#alluka zoldyck#nanika zoldyck#killua zoldyck#i reread like half of election arc today and i'm going aughhhhh oughhh the family themeessssss

I feel a hundred years late to this but if Nanika’s species is called the Ai then Killua saved Gon with the power of love. And she promised to give Killua back to Gon one day. Birds are also associated with reuniting lovers in the Tanabata festival and Killua and Alluka healed a bird together. Me thinks Togashi is hinting at Alluka playing a role somehow in them reuniting.
Good observations, thanks for sending them in! I've always thought it was interesting Nanika's species is called Ai, too, not just because of this tie-in but also because of the themes of Nanika's story in general as well. It was literally Killua's love for Gon that saved Gon, so that makes it fit extra well.
I definitely think that line Alluka said about giving Gon back to Killua is significant foreshadowing. I tend to take it as an assurance from Togashi that he does fully intend to reunite them and let them be together ultimately, that their separation is temporary and even Alluka knows they need to be together again. It's definitely possible she'll play a role in making that happen.
That's a great observation about the bird backstory! I actually hadn't thought about that in that sense so I'm glad you pointed it out. Another notable thing is that there's already been bird symbology tied in with Killua's story that is very likely connected to his Tanabata birthday/parallels: Canary in particular, and quite possibly the Zoldyck butlers as a whole due to their uniform designs being reminiscent of magpies, which are significant in bringing the separated lovers back together in the Tanabata legend. Here are two great posts on the topic for those who could use more context: Post 1, Post 2
The Tanabata story and the way it ties in with Killua's arc with Gon is one of those things I have a hard time dismissing as far as romantic implications, especially when tied in with all the other romantic implications between these two. Like come on, Togashi definitely knows what he's doing here. It also is a great sign that they will get to be reunited again.

i am once again thinking about killua and nanika
like I can't stop thinking about how much they are the same. Like nanika really kind of mirrors killua's emotional/personal arc throughout the series. thinking about the traits they share like...
pre-canon, both killua and nanika are tools. people (their family) are cruel to them, and they are made to enact cruelty onto others. the only difference is that killua can be controlled while nanika can't be. killua 'earns' his 'freedom' by virtue of him being much easier to manage/manipulate. nanika, on the other hand, cannot be managed so she and alluka are shut away permanently.
killua and nanika are largely beholden to the will of others -- for killua, its through illumi's needle as well as years of isolation, conditioning, and abuse by his family, and for nanika its in her nature.
but when they find someone who treats them like kids, or friends rather than monsters or a means to an end, when they're not being made to hurt others, killua and nanika both give freely and ask for very little in return.
killua, over and over, makes gon's 'wishes' come true, even if its at cost to himself. gon, kurapika, and leorio all pass the hunter exam because killua breaks a rule, ensuring the victory of everyone else there. he takes gon to heavens arena so he can train to beat hisoka, he agrees to help kurapika fight the phantom troupe because gon wants to help kurapika, he helps gon win greed island, and he gives everything to help gon beat the chimera ants. and all killua asks in return is that he be allowed to stay by gon's side. gon very rarely verbally asks or demands anything of killua (which some people portray as a sign of his selfishness, or that he takes for granted that killua will do whatever he wants, but i digress) but killua gives regardless because what gon has given to killua means so much to him --freedom, his friendship, his company, his trust, and his open and verbal affection.
nanika, in turn, fulfills all of killua's wishes and asks only for his love in return -- that he hug her, pat her head, and tell her she's good. She never makes cruel demands after killua's wishes because he never makes self-interested wishes, he never makes her hurt anyone for him. even as a child, he treated nanika like just another little sister, asking her to play with him and to fulfill the kinds of wishes she likes to do, such as healing people/animals.
killua (for most of the series) and nanika don't really have concrete goals or objectives of their own beyond securing love and affection by being useful to their favorite person (codependency twins !)
of course, killua and nanika are both eventually betrayed and incredibly hurt by their person, because that's just how codependent relationships play out, especially among people as young and emotionally immature and traumatized as gon, killua, and nanika are.
all of this culminates in maybe my favorite scene of the series, where killua realizes that he's hurt nanika in a similar way that gon have very recently hurt him, and also that by shutting nanika away, he's really just repeating their parents' abuse of her. so he doesn't just apologize, but he demonstrates that he knows why what he did is wrong, and why he did it, and promises never to do it again.
i only wish we cold have seen gon's apology :/
#post inspired by me thinking about alluka actually. and how assertive/protective she is about nanika and killua#specifically the scenes 1. where she stands up to killua on nanika's behalf and 2. where she puts herself between#killua and tsubone and defends him. basically i love her and this character trait i think it really speaks to her personal strength that#being locked up and shut away for so long she still has the ability to do this. but also last night i read a fic where alluka holds a grudg#against gon on killuas behalf bc she thinks that both he and nanika are far too giving/forgiving. and i've been thinking about that#also the fact that i see people refer to nanika as basically codependency personified. which no offense but killua kind of is too.#anyways. this post is way too long thats what happens when i post from my laptop rather than mobile#hxh#killua zoldyck#hxh nanika

🔯How the Zoldyck Siblings react to you being hurt🔯
For this scenario, you were hurt in a fight they didn't witness. We're keeping this one platonic! But they all just genuinely care about you. Just a thought I had because I recently fucked up my hand and need comfort lol
📍Illumi📍
Illumi doesn't tend to show a lot of emotions with his face. The moment he sees you're hurt, his gut reaction is to widen his eyes and make his way up to you.
The first couple steps are at a normal pace, but then, all of a sudden he's right next to you, and he's already inspecting your injury. His demeanor is calm, as usual, but he is a bit concerned on the inside.
He starts asking you questions, wanting to determine how much pain you're feeling, if you're hurting anywhere else, and also when and how you managed to hurt yourself, or if someone else did this. Whoever's hurt you has pretty much signed their death sentence.
If you're still distressed or crying, he'll feel a bit awkward, but attempt to comfort you by giving you light head pats. "There there, it'll be okay"
If after his masterful attempt at comfort you're still in distress, he'll wonder if he's doing something wrong, maybe he can try a different approach. No matter what kind of injury you got, Illumi's gonna pick you up (that usually succeeds in getting people to stop crying) and carry you back to the hotel to patch you up himself, his big brother instincts have taken over.
---
🎮Milluki🎮
It may come as a surprise (or not), but Milluki is actually so caring with the people dear to him, it's mostly his mother, but you are up there too!
He'll first make sure nobody's watching him, because he doesn't like to act soft around the wrong people, he doesn't want to be mocked into oblivion by say... Killua lol
He rushes towards you, panicking and asking a hurricane of questions. "What happened?! Does it hurt a lot?! Who did this to you, who do I need to kill???"
It's a bit overwhelming, but he means well, though don't expect him to follow through with the killing thing if the person who hurt you is stronger than him. He'll still act cool in front of you, saying he'll get whoever harmed you.
He's not confident enough to patch you up himself, so he brings you to the butlers' quarters and gets them to do that instead. The butlers are pretty surprised to see Milluki care so much about someone who isn't part of the family.
While the butler's tending to your wounds, he tries to distract you from the discomfort of that process by chatting with you about one of the interests you guys have in common.
---
🪀Killua🪀
Killua may not ALWAYS show that he cares, but you are a dear friend of his, so the moment he notices you're hurt, he does panic a bit on the inside, and shows genuine concern.
He wants to know how you injured yourself, if you tripped or if someone did this to you. Once he finds out it was because of someone else, he blames himself a bit. "If only I'd been there, I could've helped you- and you wouldn't be in this state now"
You find yourself having to calm the 14 year old down, it's okay, he couldn't have known. And besides, you're not terribly wounded, it hurts but... you can handle it.
Killua takes a deep breath and nods, he's just glad to see you're not in a worse condition, and immediately starts to think of what he can do for you right now.
He does think about asking Nanika to heal you, but decides against it, not wanting to take advantage of his sister's powers as a quick fix. He's more than happy to help you mend your wounds though.
He has turned away from his assassin life, but nothing's stopping him from finding the person who hurt you and heavily threaten them, just to make sure they'll never bother you again.
---
🧸Alluka🧸
Alluka is the sweetest child, if she sees you're hurt she's going to run up to you and hug you tight. She may be 13, but she's still quite childish, so that's how she expresses her care.
You explain to her what happened, how you got into a fight and lost, and that's how you got those injuries. You assure her you're doing okay now, aside from... the pretty obvious cuts and bruises.
Alluka seems upset by this and puffs up her cheeks "That's not fair- what a big meanie! y/n, please be more careful next time!" You promise her you will.
Once that's settled, she begins to drag you by your sleeve/hand, where? You have no idea, but she seems to be very determined. Turns out, she was taking you to Killua, those two are never too far from each other.
She asks her brother for her band-aids, Killua takes one look at you and understands the situation and fetches them from his backpack. They're those cute band-aids with drawings on them.
Alluka takes things very seriously and starts patching you up herself. If asked why she's using those specific bandages, she'll simply explain that they make things heal faster, because they're cute.
---
🪭Kalluto🪭
Kalluto isn't a boy of many words, but he shows he cares through his actions. As soon as he notices you're hurt, it only takes him one look to see those injuries weren't accidental, and you can tell from the look in his eyes that he's upset by them.
"Who?" he simply asks. If you don't answer to him immediately, he'll be more persistent. He needs to know who did this to you so he can do just as much to them. He's confident in his combat skills, so he's certain he won't have a problem teaching that person a lesson.
He'd also ask you if you want to come along with him, so you can hear your enemy's suffering; the boy does have a pretty sadistic side to him, though he'll understand if you don't want to participate in that.
He'll try to make sure he does a good enough job in patching you up so you'll be okay. He knows he could ask Machi to do something about your injuries, but he doesn't want to rely on the Phantom Troupe for everything, especially since they don't trust outsiders.
He's very thorough in bandaging up any cut or bruise he sees, although it's not a very masterful job, it's the thought that counts, and you're grateful for it. It makes him happy to know he was able to do something for a friend.

the fact that killua is obv (at least imo) a deeply parentified child when it comes to his relationship w alluka & nanika as the older brother, and it’s most likely been that way since they were children since killua was always (at least from what we’ve seen) the one who cared for and played with them, as well as treating them with genuine kindness, love, and respect, like family should,
the fact that he always knew the both of them better than anybody else (aside from alluka and nanika understanding each other) bc he was the only one who actually cared to and considered them equals,
the fact that killua and alluka/nanika have such a childish, clingy, and precious relationship isn't just bc they are literal children/siblings who love each other very much, but also bc alluka/nanika have been isolated for years, cut off from the world and any meaningful communication, and killua feels immense guilt for it in the first place and the last time they even saw and remember each other was when they were years younger (so parts of their relationship are most likely regressed/"frozen" in a way due to their years of separation; someone once pointed out that both killua & nanika are "codependency personified" and i can't help but agree),
and the fact that u can see multiple signs of parentification within killua (including but probably not limited to: his constant need & like to feel in control, feeling responsible for his loved one(s) safety, happiness, and well-being; aka the need to always protect them, his constant self-reliance, him often finding himself becoming a caretaker or taking up a caretaker-like role even when it includes sacrificing or putting himself in danger/harms way in his most important relationships, his heightened empathy, his constant sense of guilt & often misplaced responsibility, etc.) when it comes to himself, gon, alluka/nanika, and other people he cares for in is life all so heartbreaking to me.

I found out you write for hxh 🥺💕
The way you write them feels very nice and Canon.
I wonder can I get a scenario about illumi, ending the life of his first ever friend (he was a teenager and he met the reader SOMEHOW and they formed a secret and forbidden friendship) because his mother kikyo gaslighted him that the reader is a pest to his life etc..
I wonder how much this will have impact on him :)
Illumi opened the door. Zeno sat in the dimly lit chamber, and the decorations never failed to disturb Illumi, despite all the horrid things he's seen. Zeno's eyes shot up to his direction, then examined him. Illumi felt every organ in him tighten up. "You do understand why you're here, correct?" Zeno asked, pouring another cup on tea before sipping it,"Yes, grandfather." He replied. The older man pointed to a seat next to him, a simple 'sit'. Illumi did as he was told and sat, plenty of things ran through his mind, like a childish wish hoping that it was about his low performances while training, not how he can't help but hang out with a certain someone.
"You can't seem to listen, I suppose. As your parents have said, today and tomorrow will be the most crucial times of your life if I'm sincere." He said before soothing out his beard. Illumi poured himself a cup of tea, too. He drank some. The first thing he noticed was that it contained magnolia flowers and how it was your favorite. How bad have you screwed his brain? Zeno coughed, gaining Illumi's attention back. "Illumi, I'm not going to say names, but get rid of them. Kikyo will be accompanying you to make sure of it." Zeno informed, before standing up and walking out the room. Illumi's eyes widen, surely that was too much. The door opened again, and he heard shuffling and then heels clacking, His mother made herself known by dusting her maroon ballgown and fixing the single feather on her hat.
Kikyo firmly touched his shoulder. He looked at and noticed she was grinning out of pure delight. "I only want the best you. I say it's time to solve your problem." She chimed. You'd be in the woods as usual, telling Illumi about the newest gossip in your town. If you were lucky enough, Illumi would be so interested that he'd go easedropping with you, even though it'd be borderline stalking. You stood by a tree, trying to collect and break open the nuts. When illumi walked behind you, a change in the air was noticeable. You turnt around slowly, "Illumi, nice haircut. What took you so long?" You asked. "Nothing." He responded, Illumi looked back. Kikyo was hiding in the trees, watching him. He furrowed his eyebrows. "Can you crack these open?"
You tossed it to Illumi. He smiled for a bit. "I suppose you're not trying to break more teeth," He snagged before crushing it with his hand. The shell fell off, and he handed it to you. The ground shook, a sign from his mother to make it quick. You gave another one to illumi. Now, he extends his arm as if throwing something. "I was like fourteen. That baby tooth had to go!" You reasoned. You imbecile. Why expose how long you've been friends? But then again, how would you know. He aimed and threw it toward you at lighting speed. While trying duck, it went straight throught and your heart. Blood gushed out of you before hitting the ground. His mother came from out the shadows. She pressed a button on her communication device. "Inform the bulters that Mike will be given a small treat."
[So, if you don't understand, Illumi used the walnut to spike Y/n in the head, leading to their ultimate death. And then the corpse is then fed to Mike, the guard dog. This takes place when Illumi is about sixteen (hence, illumi has short hair), when the family discovers Alluka has a entity, Nanika within her.
Requests are always welcomed!

Kianna Coming Back With Nagito
Kianna (@nunezs-stuff's OC) X Nagito
Requested: @nunezs-stuff
Request: Okay could I please ask for another zoldyck family but how would they react to kianna being kidnapped and being put into the killing game just to end up escaping and surviving with nagito
Like say he ends up living and she introduces him to them as her boyfriend
How they react to both of those scenarios
Illumi Zoldyck
📍 Illumi actually hates him, from the moment that he met him to now he hates him and there is only one reason. 📍 Nagito had no concept of fear or a single instinct to preserve his life, so Illumi had no power over him, the only person that he listened to was Kianna. 📍 If they are left in the same room for any amount of time, the room ends up destroyed and Nagito always seems to have come out better. 📍 Illumi has tried on a number of different occasions to get Kianna to break up with Nagito but as we know you can get her to do anything that she doesn’t want to do, so instead he has to endure him. 📍 Illumi avoids him as best he can and hates that he lives under the same roof as him with no sign of leaving. 📍 Honestly, I don't think that they will ever like each other. In fact hating each other is probably the only reason that they both still breathed, being too wary of each other to let their guard down.
Milluki Zoldyck
🦟 Milluki is not much better than Illumi, he hated him a lot less because his luck provided Milluki with a lot of things that he wanted on draws in his games and auctions for all of his figurines. 🦟 Other than that he thinks that he’s a little childish and annoying (hypocritical…) and wants nothing more than for Nagito to get lost. 🦟 That being said he is the one that Nagito is most likely to annoy if only because the man can’t chase him and he’d get the most enjoyment from it. 🦟 Kianna has had to smooth over a few disagreements and take on a few jobs to really get him to forgive. 🦟 Milluki hardly ever left his room so his interactions with Nagito was wildly limited versus the rest of his family so he could deal with him for a lot longer than most. 🦟 They’ll eventually get to an understanding, they will occasionally aggravate each other but all in all not completely destructive.
Killua Zoldyck
⚡ Killua loves Kianna and was happy that she was able to come home but the moment that he met Nagito he didn’t trust him, the only reason that he was still breathing was because he brought Kianna back. ⚡ It honestly didn’t take long for Killua to figure him out, enough to trust him with Kianna and get to know him a little better. ⚡ They are actually chaos together considering how childish they both are and the fact that Killua loved a good prank and Nagito is a mastermind, they might have caused a family war. ⚡ He actually teaches Killua a lot about using his brain when on missions, he could see that Killua was smart but he relied on what was given to him by his family. Nagito gave him something else. ⚡ Killua spent a lot of time with Kianna and therefore a lot of time with Nagito (who hung off her or became her intimidating shadow), it took a while for it to become easily social but they got there. ⚡ They do actually become friends, kind of, Kilua doesn’t trust him to save his life but he knows that he can trust him with Kianna’s and that was good enough, he could look after himself after all he proved that.
Alluka Zoldyck
🎭 Literally found her room by accident, as we’ve established his luck would put him in the right place at the right time. 🎭 Alluka loves anyone that comes to visit her, she showed him all of her toys and even played a few games with him, it took them all ages to realise that he was missing. 🎭 Not going to lie Alluka was the reason that they all realised how dangerous Nagito was because as they all tried to kill him he survived everything and even asked Nanika for help without having to give anything in return. 🎭 Kianna again was the one that stopped the fighting long enough for everyone to realise what happened and then keeping Nagito alive was a strategic move. 🎭 Alluka would seek him out, when hse was given the time she would play with him and want to be with him and Kianna, they stopped trying to keep him away from Alluka in the end, it was pointless after all, he got what he wanted. 🎭 Alluka loved having Nagito around and was the first and quickest to accept him but given her naivety that was to be expected.
Kalluto Zoldyck
👘 Kalluto did not deal with Nagito passed a formal introduction, but it was a long and weird introduction. 👘 When Nagito first arrived Kalluto observed him from afar, never approached him, he reminded him of Hisoka in a weird way so he watched him carefully. 👘 Nagito knew he was there as well, they basically played a game of cat and mouse for about 3 days before Kianna took control of the situation. 👘 The introduction was wary, Kalluto doesn’t trust very many people and Nagito didn’t inspire trust, not even a little bit. Kalluto did trust Kianna though so gave it a go. 👘 Kalluto never really cared about having friends or anything past his family so being more than just acquainted with Nagito was never really on the cards but he’d keep him safe since he makes Kianna happy. 👘 Kalluto is indifferent to Nagito and doesn't care if stayed or goes. He was annoying and disruptive but Kalluto was never home so it didn't matter much to him.
Silva Zoldyck
🟣 It’s Silva’s job to be suspicious and he would continue to be suspicious for the rest of his life. 🟣 He listened to Kianna’s story of what happened and how Nagito helped her and then asked the same story of Nagito to make sure that they match but even then he wouldn’t trust him (and when he accidentally broke into Alluka’s room didn’t help). 🟣 Silva realised quickly that his skill for being lucky was useful and after 3 missions without Kianna, he realised that she was the only one that he would listen to so even if he was useless he would not send him out without you. 🟣 He was careful around him, suspicious of him and used him where he could, and he might even believe that he had control over him because he has control of Kianna. 🟣 No one actually knows why he keeps him around, the trouble he causes is not worth what skills he brings but for some reason he can not seem to tear him from Kianna, she seemed far too happy with him to do that. 🟣 Silva is quite literally watching every move that he makes, might even give him his own little house on the edge of the estate to try and stop him from causing anymore chaos.
Kikyo Zoldyck
👒 She is jealous, not of Kianna or of him but of the relationship that they both have, whenever they were together he was always all over Kianna, like he truly loved her. 👒 Like she walked into the living room and found Kianna and Nagito talking but Nagito was laying across Kianna’s lap and listening to her intently, nodding along and never interrupting. 👒 On the flip side when a threat presented itself, the first thing that Nagito did was place himself between Kianna and the threat. Kikyo hated them for that, she didn’t particularly like Kianna anyway but this made it worse. 👒 She had attempted to get Nagito thrown out, she did in some ways fear him, especially when two younger members of the family started to like him. 👒 She hates how smart Nagito is, he sees through most things that she has planned and even planned to expose her at one point. 👒 She doesn’t want anything to do with either one of them to be honest she hates seeing them around and so she avoids them.
Zeno Zoldyck
🐉 Zeno could see it from the moment that Kianna brought him back, he was cunning, manipulative and dangerous. Then he saw the way that his luck worked assuming it was some kind of nen ability, he had to be a specialist. 🐉 Zeno accepts him being there pretty easily, so he decided to try and get to know him, in case he ever needed to kill him. He played games of tactics and tested his mind. 🐉 Zeno often expected to see him around, Nagito was everywhere and nowhere all at the same time. 🐉 Zeno was very aware of the metal hand, especially when he started training him and as smart as Nagito is, he was easy to manipulate where Kianna was concerned. 🐉 Nagito respects Zeno, even if it doesn’t seem like it, he very much understands that he is the strongest of the family. 🐉 There’s a mutual respect between them for the brains and the physical power that they both have given their gifts.

once gon returned to whale island with both killua and alluka, aunt mito couldn't believe it. she knew her nephew was sociable and would likely bring home a friend, but she hadn't accounted for making space for two people to stay! gon got a light scolding, and the zoldycks had their first freecss family meal, filled with love and peppers. (killua discreetly pushed them onto alluka's plate, something about how she's a growing lady and needs to eat her veggies)
mito absolutely adores alluka. it's been so long since there's been a new person on the island, much less a young girl! the lovely woman took it upon herself to make sure the little lady felt right at home. she assures alluka that she can come to her for anything she could ever need.
nanika wants so badly to thank mito for everything, but she knows how difficult that would be, much less to explain... mito begins waking up to small gifts signed "-A+N" outside her window sill. She doesn't ask questions, and she doesnt know why the kids won't say outright who "N" is, but nanika doesn't miss the way Mito smiles fondly at each gift from behind alluka's eyes
mito overhears killua and gon talking about packing for their next trip (so soon...), and suddenly realized how... light their luggage had been. how light alluka's had been. how she hadn't seen the poor girl wear more than two or three outfits during her entire stay, two of which had seemed like killua's hand-me-downs rather than her own wardrobe. (mito spends the next week digging through the storage for her old dresses)
the four of them cannot for the life of them figure out what this strange box left by ging is meant to be. gon couldn't find any buttons, killua couldn't force it open, alluka couldn't find anything online (and throwing it from the window didn't work), and gon didn't want to borrow nanika's abilities (something about it being cheating and he wouldn't really be earning it). It was actually nanika's idea to try using nen, and miraculously, it worked
alluka and nanika love greed island. it's a beautiful place with fun and adventure built all into one package. the cards let them do supernatural things without relying on nanika's ability and potential repercussions, and it only gets better after meeting bisky
bisky had originally (and only briefly) seen alluka as a threat to her fun. she wanted to break up the boys friendship for kicks, and got irritated that another girl was in the group already--and one that the boys didnt ignore! in fact, they often turned to her for input or invited her to try new paths! it didn't take long before bisky had to give up and intervene before the three knuckleheads got themselves killed.
despite the rough start, alluka never disliked bisky the same way her brother did. she actually really looked up to her. she was a cute, young (looking) girl who was extremely powerful, after all! alluka can't recall ever meeting another girl who would gossip with her or go out for mani-pedis. meeting bisky was fate, and alluka carved a special mentor-shaped space for the woman in her and nanika's heart.
nanika had once asked biscuit for her hair bow, much to killua's panic, and the day was spent with the boys trying to keep nanika away from their mentor to prevent the worst from happening. unfortunately, nanika was able to get two more things from biscuit. fortunately, gon was able to distract bisky while killua wished for a hug behind the safety of the surrounding foliage
oughh thinking soo hard about an au where killua takes alluka with him to the hunter exam with plans to escape once they both have their licenses and they meet Gon and the Hooligans™ and literally the series is the same but alluka and nanika are there and everything is good and dandy

What your HxH waifu says about you
Since quite a few responded to the post "what hxh crush says about you" that featured guys (let's admit it, hxh is a damn sausage fest). I was thinking I should do one for the ladies.
Disclaimer: This is just for lame-ass comedy + sarcasm and not meant to offend anyone. Ehh… bonus if you know which two girls I simp for.
Bisky: I only have two questions that can lead to two VERY different conversations - which version of Bisky are you attracted to? Her original muscular form or her petite form? 🧐🧐
Machi: You like tsundere or tough girls. Her cold bitch ice queen attitude (but sweet princess on the inside) turns you on. You like how she has a nice thighs. You want her to do some weird bondage with you with her Nen threads.
Pakunoda: You probably don't look at her face most of the time. "hey, my eyes are up here perv" (she got real nice jugs though so I can't blame you) 🥵🥵 Horny-ness aside, she's loyal to death and that's a bonus for you too.
Shizuku: You're into sub girls that have huge tits and doesn't say much. You like the shy quiet ones. Cause ya know, you don't like women with loud opinions. Pfft.
Neon: Are you into DDLG? You like girls with a princess syndrome and high maintainence + daddy issues. You think her eyes has the "pls ruin my innocence". High likely you are a brat tamer. She reminds you of Botan who is such a charmer too. She has a high-pitched voice so... Naughty naughty.
Menchi: Probably wants a girl who can win your heart through your stomach. This woman can kick ass and cook meals for you, while looking hot. Real keeper there. You got good taste bro.
Mito: You probably wouldn't mind dating an older woman, maybe even those with kids. You like someone who is caring, waifu material and wants to settle down.
Baise: You like women that is confident and you might even have a "step-on-me" masochist kink. You don't mind being a slave to your mistress. You probably never cared about girls' hairstyles given that her hair looks like Hisoka's dick.
Komugi: I know it's you, Meruem, King of Ants. [I actually have real bad jokes about this but for the sake of peace, I will shut up]
Palm: You're into crazy yandere bitches and do not mind if your date changes her whole face with makeup. You probably proudly announced that you'd bone her even when she became an ant. Aye if bestiality is your thing then... go off hun.
Pitou: Uhh... No one really knows if Pitou is a dude but you don't care. You just assume Pitou is a she. You have some Neko catgirl fetish and that's what's important. You'd fuck whatever hole is available with Pitou. MEOW. Maybe you played Nekopara before? If you haven’t, I recommend it if you down real bad for cat girls.
Cheadle: You like girls who are smart, responsible and generally righteous. Independent and a leader-type too. Back in school, you probably have a crush on that one studious girl and kept annoying her to get her attention.
Cluck (Rooster Zodiac): Ok back off. That's my wife. Just kidding, she belongs to Togashi. Anyway, YOU LIKE EM FEISTY. Yum. She may get pissed at you but you find it cute when she's mad. You might also have a thing abt her outfit with the nice feathery tail (it drives me horny so maybe you two too). Anyway, you got good taste.
Pyon (Rabbit Zodiac): BOI. You down real bad for a bunny, huh? You’re just horny for some anime version of a Playboy Bunny. You probably looked at some furry porno from beastars or zootopia. Please join the rest of them Hisoka stans. Period.
Alluka/Nanika: Why you reading this bro? You wanna die by Killua’s hands?
Camilla Hui Guo Rou: Aight. She’s a sadist. Your mind probably saying “no” but because of her beauty, your hormones says “yes”
Gel (Snake Zodiac): You were probably captivated by her nice body. I don’t know if there’s x reader fics of hers but man I hope you didn’t look at her snickety-snake arm and be like “hey I want her to wrap it around my-” Yes, we know you into some tentacle porn or something.
Kite (ant form): You never simped for Kite when he was a dude but now you see her and go head-over-heels. Can’t blame you though, she’s cute. High likelihood you into red-headed girls with freckles and big eyes.
Canary: You love her dreadlocks and she has nice lips. You like Canary because of how she tries her best for Killua. Maybe you’re a Canary x Killua or Amane x Canary shipper too? She’s really loyal to Killua and likely you fell for her during the scene with Gon in the Zoldyck Family arc. You hate Kikyo because she zapped Canary with her freaky cyborg eyes.
Kikyo: I don’t know why this shouldn’t even be here.
Oito: You have a MILF kink. Seriously dude, she has a kid that is signed up for death. But man, if child support is your thing...then no one’s stopping you papa
Amane: You saw her cuteness in that one episode and that was all it took for you to decide that you’d be a simp for her.
Theta: You either ship her with Tserriednich, or you hate Tserriednich. There is no in between. You are scared of Theta’s fate, you’re scared she might die in the current arc because Tserriednich will kill her or force her to be his lover. You’re always praying that Tse’s Nen beast won’t screw her up.
Melody: You love her voice. If possible, you want to listen to an ASMR of hers. You like her because she has a big heart.
Ponzu: You're heartbroken after the CA arc
Retz: FINALLY. Someone who appreciates this pretty girl. You're the best!
Zazan: Go to a bar, get laid cause you need it if you wanna fuck someone with a scorpion tail. You’re deprived. I do NOT want to get into what you fantasize regarding that scorpion tail.

saw your reblog about finding s/h scars attractive and as someone with them I just wanna say it's generally not weird or bad to find scars attractive, it's just that you gotta treat s/h ones with more care. generally I think it depends on the individual, for example I wouldn't like someone finding my s/h scars hot but somebody else with them might appreciate it, and if someone finds their own attractive that's totally alright! generally I'd just say it's best to ask somebody first about it if you're gonna compliment their scars, both s/h scars and other ones 👍 dunno if that makes sense it is way too early in the morning
This makes perfect sense, thank you for explaining!
I can definitely understand not wanting people to find your scars "hot", i imagine it could feel like sexualizing/objectifying a very sensitive area, essentially. But also can understand those who are fine, and may even want, people to tell them that their scars are hot (because wanting to have parts of yourself shamed relentlessly be seen as desired is also super valid!)
So yeah, sounds like asking first is probably the best bet!
Also, i hope you don't mind me posting this!

Illumi
If you think Illumi can already be creepy or scary now, then you don’t want to see him in a situation like this. Remember when he first saw Nanika’s power and laughed? This would be worse. Obsession can make people unbalanced, and I don’t think we can say Illumi doesn’t have enough issues as it is.
To put it simply, he would become a lot more deranged than he already is.
It would be a frightening sight (even to his parents). Once he got over the initial shock, Illumi would mourn you, keep thinking about the past, missing you while wondering why you were so stubborn, why you kept trying to escape, perhaps romanticizing the few moments of peace between you two as a sign that you were falling for him (he will never let go of the delusion that you did love him)… Those thoughts and memories would twist inside him day after day.
It wouldn’t be that obvious when he is away from home. Despite everything, Illumi would be able to pretend that he has everything under control, still keeping that emotionless stance of his, while in truth he would alter between fits of psychotic rage and deep silence (different from his usual quietness, this would be a mourning, dark sort of silence that just screams of insanity). We can’t say there wouldn’t be any sorrow involved, but it’s anyone’s guess whether this would come from his belief that he loved you, the loss of his possession, or everything mixed and more. It’s not easy to be exact with those matters, after all.
Illumi would become even worse than he already is, which might be expressed by him becoming more obsessed with controlling Killua (he already lost you, he won’t lose anyone or anything more in his life). It’s also possible he would dedicate himself to somehow control Alluka, so he could use Nanika’s power to bring you back (don’t try telling him it wouldn’t work, for your own sake). If he had to kill the entire damn world to get you back, he would.
Hisoka
In a normal state, Hisoka would grieve and learn how to deal with the pain of losing you. It’s hard to say if he would ever “move on” (since he almost never forms emotional attachments to anyone). Even on the chance of his reaction being intense, it would still be at least normal. With the Yandere level of obsession? Not so much.
There would be almost no chance of him just accepting that you’ve died and, as a result, Hisoka might become even more violent and full of bloodthirst. Oh, he might hide it, but some people would be able to feel he is way worse now than he used to be. He wouldn’t become reckless during his fights, but he would become a lot more vicious and sadistic.
This, however, would not be out of some “seeking death” sense as one might think: It’s his obsession getting out of control, as he lost you forever, now being channeled into the only thing that brings him pleasure. And the more time passes, the worst it would be.
It’s not that he would become an insane person with no control whatsoever over his impulses, but depending on how obsessed he was with you and how much this is affecting him, Hisoka may let go of the few principles he had.
Chrollo
If Senritsu ever heard Chrollo’s heartbeat after your death, she would be even more terrified than she was the first time she heard it… There is sorrow in it, yes, but it’s also as if something has snapped, setting free a new sort of darkness from deep inside him. You have to remember that this isn’t about people losing a loved one, this is about deeply obsessed people losing the target of their obsession forever.
Chrollo way of mourning you would be… Disturbing. Remember the “requiem” he offered Uvogin? It would be similar, only he wouldn’t care for who he is killing. Burn a library you loved or a park? Kill everyone who was inside your favorite café? Anything goes. He would even burn a church with people inside, all while considering those to be pyres he’s making in your name.
After that, Chrollo would become… Somewhat unstable. No one would be able to realize it except maybe, maaaybe Machi, due to her intuition and that she knows Chrollo quite well (even she would be a little disturbed by what she is getting from Chrollo’s behavior). It wouldn’t be obvious, but there would be signs of times of how much obsession can screw someone’s mind.
He wouldn’t forget his goals or the Spider, but in a really messed up sense, your memory would become part of it. It's not that he would start to consider your arguments against what he is doing or start thinking about what you would have liked him to do, far from it. It’s a bit as if Chrollo associates his goals to ways that would have made you accept him, more or less.
If he ever, ever, suspected there might be a way of bringing you back… He would seek it. And may God have mercy of whoever got in the way.

AUgust 7: HAVE YOU SEEN THIS 12 YEAR OLD
PROMPT THE SEVENTH: CHILDHOOD FRIENDS wait how can you childhood friends au killugon, I asked myself, forgetting that I had a whole-ass idea in my drafts already. this one’s a proper fic, too (minus editing cuz l o l it’s an AU writing challenge, not editing challenge). T, aged-up killugon, modern day au. ft ambiguous descriptions of social media, alluka, kalluto, and leorio in killua’s corner, and zushi and spinner in gon’s, brief discussion of getting plastered and dealing with a hangover. 5000 words.
0o0o0o0o0
The first sign that today is going to be an absolutely terrible day, is when Killua wakes up with a hangover.
This does not happen. Killua can count on one hand the number of times he’s gotten so drunk he’s had a hangover, and most of them are the fault of his little siblings. Little siblings who are now living together, whose couch he is currently painfully existing upon, half too hot and his toes way too cold. And the couch is too soft, an old secondhand thing he’d helped Alluka grapple up the stairs months ago after they found it outside an old dorm. He makes a notch in his very sore brain to blame the current situation on them. Kalluto might be kind enough to let a drunk big brother crash with them, but Alluka has a devious streak a mile wide.
Yeah. This is definitely their fault.
One eye slowly creaks open, surveying his surroundings through blurry vision. Nothing out of the ordinary here. He’s in the pajamas he’s left with Alluka forever ago, curled up under an old blanket he gave her for Nanika’s birthday. It’s covered in the Matrix code, all green letters on black wool. It barely covers him from chest to knees, which explains the cold toes.
Sunlight flickers through the curtains, cheerful and bright, and Killua pulls the blanket over his face. He’ll take cold toes over being blinded by his headache.
The second sign that today is going to be an absolutely terrible day, is when a noise like a chainsaw burrowing through a marshmallow erupts from his phone buzzing on the coffee table, just barely out of reach.
Killua attempts to bury himself under the blanket. He’s not dealing with work today.
And then he remembers: He doesn’t have work. Work can’t bother him today. Not just because it’s a weekend—work never respected the sanctity of weekends, no matter that he was at least partially in charge and used to have a fancy degree hanging on his wall. He doesn’t have work anymore. Killua quit.
Which, well. That explains the hangover.
He’s still blaming his siblings.
His phone buzzes loud enough to break the sound barrier, and Killua decides, fuck it. He doesn’t have anything to lose. If it’s the-place-formerly-known-as-work, he can delete everything. If it’s Mom or Father, he can definitely delete everything. And maybe it’s a friendly person, congratulating him on giving up a job that for anyone else would have been an absolute money-making dream. He’ll delete those too.
It takes a few tries to unlock his phone, and it unfortunately involves opening his eyes, squinting against the glaring light of the screen. But once he does, he frowns. Maybe he’s seeing double. Or a hundredfold. Because he should not have this many notifications.
awwww cute, i hope u 2 find each other! the top one says. It has several hundred likes. Why is it in his notifications?
Scrolling down reveals that it’s not an anomaly.
wtf man how can you find a TWELVE YEAR OLD from FIFTEEN YEARS AGO.
Me and my mom went on a cruise around there once, it was really pretty!
this is so sweet T__T maybe this is him?
And then another hundred photos of brown-skinned men with varying degrees of shirt-wearing, all black haired and most of them buff in very appealing ways and all of them beaming at Killua.
“What the fuck,” Killua croaks as he scrolls through all of the images and messages. Maybe this is a dream. A really weird, hangover-induced dream about how little of a social life he has, that his phone is possessed by someone else’s. A warning of sorts, that he should never have installed any social media on his phone ever, not even for hookups.
The reason for all the notifications lies at the top of his own page. Just a few sentences, all-caps, with an image of an old crinkled photo of two boys on a tropical beach, grinning at the camera. Killua sees himself, white curly hair flying in all directions and pale skin sunburned and ruddy with the briny wind, happier than Killua can ever remember being. Next to him, one arm slung around his shoulders and the other holding a bucket full of seashells, is a brown-skinned boy with freckles dancing across his nose and the tops of his shoulders, brown eyes wide and laughing and black hair thick and spiked from some mix of wind and seawater and natural gravity defiance.
He didn’t know he still had this photo. It had followed him from childhood all the way through grad school, a carefully guarded keepsake hidden away from the watchful eyes of his parents and Illumi, before ending up in a box or a bag at some point in the last few years. Part of Killua thought he’d lost it in the move. He barely remembers much about being twelve, about the cruise he’d been forcibly dragged on. But he remembers…
HAVE YOU SEEN THIS BOY? yells the caption. WE WERE BEST FRIENDS FOR A WEEK WHEN I GOT DRAGGED ON A CRUISE BY MY ASSHOLE PARENTS. HE WAS 12 ON WHALE ISLAND 15 YEARS AGO. IF FOUND, DM IMMEDIATELY.
“Gon,” Killua breathes.
He gathers himself, wrapping the blanket around his head in a feeble protection against the morning, and lurches over to Alluka’s room.
He gets to bang on her door three times, confused spite winning out over his own pounding headache, before Kalluto appears out of their room, blinking blearily at Killua. “Shut up.”
Killua kicks Alluka’s door for good measure, and brandishes his phone in front of him like a weapon. “Not until you explain what the hell this is doing on the internet.”
Kalluto pales, then flushes, then pales again. “Oh. Um.”
At that, Alluka creaks her door open, guilty blue eyes far too awake for how close to noon it is. Killua kind of wants to kill her on principle alone. If he has to be hungover, so does everyone else.
“Explain,” he grinds out through his teeth.
The third and final sign that today is going to be an absolutely terrible day, is when Alluka puts on her most winning smile, the kind she uses to ward off angry customers and idiotic faux-academics on the internet. “Congratulations, Brother! I might have made you go viral.”
Killua throws his phone at her.
—————
Today’s going to be a good day, Gon decides. He’s been in the forests of East Gorteau for the better part of a month, which normally isn’t so bad. But this group has been…They’re nice enough, when Gon’s not spending half of his time explaining that, no, that species of plant does not make a good stew, and no, that species is endangered please don’t hunt them, and yes Gon is sure he doesn’t date his clients even after the hike, and no the reason the tent fell over again is because it wasn’t properly set up in the first place—
All of Aunt Mito’s complaints about tourists on Whale Island make so much more sense, now that Gon’s leading backwoods hikes.
But last night had been fun! Spinner had met the group at a pre-set campsite not far from their pickup so Gon hadn’t had to work the whole night, and he could relax with his friend over good food, more alcohol than he probably should have drunk, and not having to explain to Mrs. Yuldvin the difference between marijuana, buckeye, and poison oak again. Spinner had even taken care of the fire, although she had left him to rescue the Podomos siblings from the ruins of their tent with nothing more than a smirk and a wave. Nevertheless, Gon smiled through his headache all morning, because soon he’ll be home, and he can sleep.
Zushi is waiting in the parking lot once Gon’s done packing up the last of the gear and saying goodbye to Spinner, jeep idling while he flicks through his phone, thick eyebrows drawn together in increasing concern. He doesn’t even look up until Gon drops his pack onto the hood of the car, and he jolts so badly in surprise that he tosses his phone in the air.
“Are you okay?” Gon asks, and tries to peek at the screen.
Zushi pulls it up and away, a frantic look in his eyes. It won’t really keep Gon from seeing what’s happening, not if he wants to, but Zushi’s height is enough of a deterrent to make it hard. “You were gone way too long,” he says.
Gon leans against the hot metal of Zushi’s car. It wasn’t an unusual length for a trip, not really—this backcountry needs the length to be able to see and understand the region. Not to mention the Small Billed Swan preservation society keeping the whole place locked down except to authorized guides and trekkers. Zushi knows this. They’ve been roommates long enough that this isn’t even the longest time Gon’s been gone.
“You knew I’d be gone til today,” Gon says.
“Yeah, but…” Zushi’s eyebrows descend even further, scrunching his whole face up in worry. “You haven’t checked your phone, right?”
“No?” Even if he did have cell service, Gon never brings his own phone. He borrows Kite’s satellite phone, because it is more reliable and doesn’t need to be charged constantly.
“Okay. Well.” Zushi takes a deep breath, then another, one of Wing’s old meditation techniques. Despite his exhaustion and single-minded determination to sink into a real bed and sleep for a week, Gon feels a minor pang of worry. On breath three, he unlocks his phone and turns it towards Gon. “You’re a meme.”
On Zushi’s screen is a photo Gon can’t ever forget about. Backed by Whale Island’s sunbleached white beaches and the humid brilliant colors of summer, Gon sees himself—twelve, smiling from ear to ear, hair a mess from swimming and his shirt practically covered in sand from digging up all the seashells in his bucket. He’s got an arm around another boy, who’s caught mid-laugh so his blue eyes burn the same color as the sky, white curls even messier than Gon’s hair. They look like they’ve known each other their whole lives, like they’d still be best friends even if they haven’t seen or spoken to each other since the photo was taken.
Gon hopes Killua thinks so, too.
He cradles the phone in his hand, carefully zooming in on their faces and the errant crinkles visible through the photo. His own faded copy is in a drawer, having survived a whole trip around the world and countless apartment jumps. This one looks just as well cared for, in its own way.
“That…is you, right?” Zushi asks carefully. “Because Wing was asking, and half of Kite’s guide company is yelling about it on your social media page that you don’t even use, and now people are messaging me, and they’re saying the weirdest things, and the post is from last week, so—”
“It’s Killua,” Gon says. A smile spreads across his face, a mirror to the one he’d had when he was twelve. “That’s Killua!”
“Who?” the others ask, but Gon isn’t listening.
He spins, frantically searching his pockets for his phone. “Spinner, can you do me a favor?”
She narrows her eyes suspiciously.
Gon knew today was going to be a good day.
—————
It’s been a week, and Killua has quit all social media forever.
The steady buzz of his phone informing the apartment of his notifications is not his problem. Alluka’s the one who decided to hack into his phone and post something to his old public account, the one he mostly uses for photos of cats and complaining about terrible business precedents. He hasn’t posted much since school, and if anything, it should have simply vanished into the void of the internet.
He finds the culprit fairly quickly, and for once it’s not his sister’s moderate but dedicated video following.
“Old man, what the fuck is wrong with you?”
Leorio lounges in Alluka and Kalluto’s living room, freshly out of his scrubs and looking pleased as all hell. “I just reblogged a fun post from my friend,” he says somewhat defensively. “You were a cute kid, Killua. What happened?”
Killua feels a growl creep up his throat. “You can’t just do that,” he snaps.
“It’s not my fault the people like my well-coiffed but rugged appearance and dedication to social justice in medicine.”
“You have 500,000 followers because you made a joke post two years ago, and some authorized user reblogged it five times. It has nothing to do with your ugly mug.” If Killua squints and plugs his ears, he can even see why people think Leorio’s attractive or whatever: tan skin, lean but strong as hell, actually takes care of his hair, not to mention a damn good doctor with one of the most prestigious institutions in Yorknew who spends most of his free time running health clinics in impoverished neighborhoods. That’s all swell. But then he starts talking, and Killua has no idea where the off button is.
Leorio spreads a hand out, gesturing vaguely with the glass of iced tea that he’d helped himself to out of Alluka’s stash. “It has everything to do with my ‘ugly mug,’” he says. “Which is why I used my powers for good and spread your post. Don’t you want to find him?”
“Not like this!”
“You were not going to find him at all,” Kalluto’s quiet voice pipes up from the kitchen. They have night classes tonight, but Killua has a feeling that even if they were supposed to be attending their Yorknew Uni lectures, they would still be here making Killua’s life worse. “You’ve had that picture for years, and you did not even try to look.”
Leorio gives him a judgmental look over the tops of his stupid tiny glasses. “You haven’t?”
It would be a losing game to bury his burning face in one of the throw pillows, so Killua does his best to cross his arms over his chest and glower instead. “I…tried.”
“And?”
“I don’t even know his last name!” Killua splutters. “I didn’t have his number or where he was from, other than his mom worked on the ship. And that cruiseline went bankrupt and liquidated everything before I could get out of the house, so I couldn’t even look that up.”
Kalluto crosses over from the kitchen and perches like a sweatshirt-wearing crow on the coffee table, their blue eyes carefully neutral under straight black bangs. “Alluka and Nanika would have helped. Or even Milluki, if you had explained the situation.”
“I was eighteen, okay? I just left home, and our parents were still being…shit, themselves, I guess.” He hadn’t even considered asking for help. Then again, he’d tried the moment he could, that first summer of undergrad where he didn’t have to come home and Illumi couldn’t spend half his time breathing down the back of Killua’s neck. He had a general idea of where they’d gone, maps of islands scurried away in the closet with the old photo and a bag full of seashells Gon had given him as a going-away present.
They’d been friends for a week, in the whirlwind way that only kids can be. The cruise ship was massive, and Killua’s parents were in meetings half the time and playing nice with the other rich people on board the other half. Killua had been bored witless, and Gon was everything he couldn’t have possibly imagined: encouraging Killua to go exploring, to stealing food from the kitchens, making him help clean up the decks, playing cards with the deckhands. Sneaking off the boat to visit an island without Killua’s parents while the ship was docked, scrambling over the burning hot sands and dashing through the jungle, diving into the waves fully clothed and competing to see who could find the biggest prettiest shells. Gon’d been Killua’s first friend, his first crush, his first…a lot of firsts.
Then the cruise had ended, and Killua forgot to give Gon his phone number. His address. Anything. They’d been so swept up in being friends, being best friends, it had seemed impossible that they would never see each other again.
Does Gon even remember? Why should he, when Killua hasn’t contacted him? Would they even be friends anymore?
Maybe he hadn’t searched hard enough. But part of Killua thinks he shouldn’t have tried at all.
The phone buzzes loudly, and Killua tries not to flinch.
“Hey, Killua. It’s okay.” Leorio leans forward, hands clasped over his too-long limbs and expression gentle. “If you want me to delete it, I will. Not sure I can help with the viral part of things, except maybe go through your messages and delete the gross ones, or at least find the weirdest ones for you to laugh at later.”
“Alluka and I have been doing this already,” Kalluto says, their posture a little too protective for Killua’s raw nerves at this point. “But perhaps you have some suggestions for what to do next, Dr. Paladiknight?”
Leorio smiles sympathetically. “Don’t read the comments? That said, most of your comments have been much more positive than anything I usually post. The masses seem to be genuinely rooting for you, kid.”
“I have only had to delete a dozen lewd messages for you this morning,” Kalluto adds, not mentioning the hundred or so that Alluka took care of yesterday.
Killua’s traitorous phone buzzes again, and that’s it. Time to bury himself in a pillow. Killua flops onto the couch, narrowly missing Leorio, and does his best to burrow into the cushions. “That’s just great,” he says into the fabric.
A comforting hand rubs against his hair, messing up the curls for a moment, and Killua refuses to admit that it’s nice, that he has friends like Leorio who even bother to care. “It could be worse. You could be dealing with this while still working a soul-sucking job making more money than most of us will see in our lifetimes, in exchange for giving up all of your morals.”
Killua groans loudly. “I’m not having this conversation with you.”
“You’re gonna need to do something, Killua! And hey, I might be able to set something up with my—”
“I already told you, no.”
“But it’s what you’re good at. And you wouldn’t be fucking people over to do it.”
“No.”
“Just listen for one—”
Killua lifts his head enough to glare as murderously as he can at Leorio. It must work at least a little, because the doctor shuts up.
Meanwhile, Kalluto is scrolling through Killua’s phone, poking at the screen occasionally. In the awkward silence, their sharp gasp is loud enough to shatter a window, and they hurriedly shove the phone in the pocket of their oversized sweatshirt.
Leorio raises an eyebrow. “Everything okay?”
Kalluto squeezes their eyes shut for a moment, then carefully places the phone on the coffee table, screen pointed innocently at the ceiling. “You will want to look at this one, Brother.”
“This isn’t another erotic sandcastle is it?” he says.
Kalluto shakes their head, and Killua’s stomach lurches up his throat. Alluka has been the one excited about this whole thing. But Kalluto, as reserved as they are, is a massive romantic. The whole thing might be Alluka’s fault, but Killua knows it’s Kalluto who almost lets themselves believe it’ll work. Despite all of the false positives, the people who send messages that don’t sound right or photos that have the wrong smile.
Killua doesn’t want to hope. It can’t possibly be Gon. But his hands shake nonetheless as he unlocks his phone and finds a new message in his DMs.
It’s not from Gon.
Instead, someone with the icon of a small-billed white swan in a soft small-billed hat and a handle of @flymypretties has sent a photo of a brown-skinned man with spiky black hair absolutely covered in dirt and grime. He’s waving at the camera, a backpacking bag propped against his shoulder and the widest smile Killua has ever seen beaming straight through the screen and into his chest. Next to him and half out of frame, a tall tanned man with massive black eyebrows and a tank top showing off an impressive amount of muscle has his head in his hands. Killua feels a sharp stab of sympathy, somewhere buried beneath the racing of his heart.
look im sorry about this but this idiot can’t find his phone and we r kind of in the middle of nowhere so reception’s shit. he wants to know if you admit he found the biggest seashell on the beach, whatever that means.
For a long, long moment—seconds? minutes maybe?—Killua can do nothing but stare at the screen of his phone. Leorio and Kalluto both look at him with a mix of curiosity and worry, Kalluto starting to slowly reach for the phone.
In a completely childish protective moment, Killua grabs it against his chest, like the image will vanish if he doesn’t keep it close.
“Is it…?” Leorio asks.
Killua swallows heavily, trying to think around the roaring of the ocean in his ears. “I think so,” he says faintly.
Kalluto’s eyes widen, and they spin on their heels towards their room. “I’m calling Alluka!”
—————
“Has he responded?”
“No!”
“…what about now?”
Spinner throws her hands in the air so violently that her hat falls off. “For god’s sake, Gon, it’s been an hour, you don’t even have your phone, and you still need to go home.”
Gon huffs and pouts. They’re still in the parking lot over an hour after the rest of the trekking group has left, and all the exhaustion that had settled into Gon’s body from the tour has been turned into a jittery energy that keeps trying to leak out from under his skin. He wants to go home immediately and dig out his copy of the photo, rub out the old fingerprints he and Aunt Mito have left on it over the years. He wants to find his phone and message Killua directly. He wants to wait right here until Killua responds, no matter how long it takes.
He knows it’s childish, to be this selfish. Spinner has work to do, work that she already put on hold to help with the last day of the tour. Kite probably will want to know what’s happening, or at least why his lead guide and his chief guide organizer have been stuck in a parking lot. And Gon can practically feel Zushi’s obsessive scrolling through social media, frantically trying to navigate Gon’s feeds without actually having access.
Gon needs to find his phone.
“Spinner, what if—”
It’s not that Spinner’s a large woman. Out of the three people standing in the parking lot, Zushi’s far and away the strongest, even if he is about as threatening as a large, muscular teddy bear. And Gon has only packed on weight and muscle over his years of backpacking around the wilderness, no matter that he’s not super tall. But Spinner goes for longer, harder treks on her own than anyone but Kite, and she packs in her own climbing gear on top of that, so when she tosses Gon into the back of Zushi’s jeep, he flies.
“Zushi,” she says in a low exhausted snarl, and he jumps right off the hood of his car. Gon probably would have felt bad for him, if everything wasn’t spinning. “If you do not take your roommate home, I am not responsible for the consequences.”
“What if you hear back?” Gon groans around the aches in his side.
Spinner rolls her eyes, and Gon knows she’s just tired. “I’ll let you know.”
“But what if my phone’s gone? What will I do if someone stole it, or if I can’t—”
“I’ll call you go home already,” she says, and slams the door shut on his face.
For a long moment, the only sound is Spinner storming away, boots thudding heavily in the dirt until her car door slams.
The jeep shifts slightly as Zushi quietly lowers himself into the driver’s seat and puts the key into the ignition. Gon wants to tell him to follow Spinner, so she can yell out the window as soon as Killua gets back to her. But Zushi looks about ready to bolt. So Gon slumps back in the seat, the rumble of tires crunching through gravel making his already jittery nerves shake.
A small voice that sounds a lot like Kite tells Gon that it’s better to wait, that it will be easier to have a conversation and determine if this really is Killua after a rest and a shower.
Gon doesn’t want that, though. He wants…
It’s been a long time since he was on Whale Island. Longer still since he saw Killua. That doesn’t mean he stopped thinking about either of them, during the quiet moments out under the stars. They’re part of him, like his lungs are part of him—essential and irreplaceable, buried so far inside that removing them would change him irrevocably.
What is Killua like now? Is Gon just as important to him as he is to Gon? He has to be. Right?
They make it home without saying anything else. Gon floats in and out between bone-deep weariness and electric sparks of nervous joy, and Zushi flinches every time Gon jolts himself from one to the other.
“Hey, are you…I mean, maybe not okay, but.”
Gon lifts his chin up sharply at the sound of his roommate’s voice, and notices the familiar apartment complex in front of him. Oh, they’re home. “I’m good,” he says, and grins.
“Sure,” Zushi says like he doesn’t believe Gon.
A dubious silence stretches out between them as they gather the rest of the gear, dropping it in a heap on the sidewalk. “You were kids, though,” Zushi finally says.
Gon shrugs and slams the door shut hard enough to make the vehicle rattle. “I didn’t forget. So I don’t think Killua would, either.”
Zushi’s eyebrows wrinkle on each other, like they can’t decide whether to go up or down and settle on some combination of the two. “What if he did?”
“He didn’t,” Gon says, more sure of that than anything else in his life.
Zushi’s eyebrows dance again, but he doesn’t say anything else.
Between Gon’s camping gear and Zushi’s leftover practice pads, it takes longer than Gon’s excitement can take to get everything settled enough to look for his phone. Well, Gon would have liked to look for his phone, but Zushi makes a pointed look at the shower. There are only so many places the phone could be in the whole apartment, after all.
Gon’s just drying off when Zushi knocks on the door. “I found it, but it’s dead,” he says, voice muffled.
“Then charge it!” Gon shouts. After a moment, he adds, quieter and less snappishly, “Please?”
A faint laugh echoes through the apartment.
By the time Gon can make himself a very early dinner of whatever he could grab out of the cabinets without thinking, the phone is charged enough to turn on. Sure enough, there are a wide variety of messages, mostly from Kite’s groupchat asking about the viral post. A few are from former hikers, people who Gon liked enough to share contact info, offering to see if they can get in touch. There are even a few—okay, how did they get ahold of his old social media page? It’s practically defunct, since Gon’s never had a phone capable of more than the most basic apps. And those are…
It’s flattering in a way, but Gon’s not really into that. Or them.
Zushi catches sight of the grimace, and takes one look over Gon’s shoulder before turning beet red.
By the time he’s gone through and deleted the vast majority of what had been filling up his phone, there’s still no message from Spinner, and nothing at all from Killua. Gon sighs and lies his head down on the table with a heavy thunk.
The other chair scrapes heavily along the tiles as Zushi sits, a mug of coffee in his hands. “What will you do? When he messages you, I mean.”
When, not if, an unexpected certainty coming from Zushi. Gon has the best friends in the world. “Talk to him,” Gon says. “It’s only been fifteen years, right? We promised we’d be friends forever.”
“A lot changes in fifteen years,” Zushi says.
“Not that.”
“Then why didn’t you look for him?”
Gon frowns. It had taken a long, long time, but Aunt Mito managed to track down the cruise captain the last time they were in port, tracing through old charters until the right names came up. But when she’d called them up, she’d been met with stonewall after stonewall, pleasant-sounding voices insisting in no uncertain terms that she would never speak with a member of Killua’s family, let alone let her son speak to his friend. By the time Gon was old enough to look himself, he found nothing but a mansion full of people whose eyes matched Killua’s in everything except for his warmth, who refused to even acknowledge Gon’s presence except to throw him out.
That had been years ago. It’s not that Gon stopped looking. Not exactly.
“I did, but I—” Gon starts to say, but his phone buzzes violently against the table, and they both jump out of their chairs.
“Is it—?” Zushi asks, breath in his throat.
It’s a message from Spinner. you owe me big time, kid, she says, followed by a phone number.
Gon rips his phone off the cable, a wide smile spreading across his face. “It is,” he says, and dials Killua.
—————
bzz bzz—

“H-hello?”
“Killua! Hi!”
“…Gon? Is that—It’s really…?”
“Killua, it’s you, I thought I’d never—”
“I did find the biggest seashell, and you know it.”
A breath, sharp and astonished. “The blue and white one, with green lines.”
“I found it, and I gave it to you.”
“I still have it.”
A snort of amusement, slightly damp. “I know. You promised you’d keep it.”
“I did. And I promised—”
“That we’d be friends forever.”
A laugh, delighted and teary at the same time. “I knew you remembered.”
“I did promise you that I would.”
“Yeah?”
“Yeah.”

It's been years, so many years since they separated ways at the World Tree. And no, Killua never stopped missing Gon, but that doesn't mean he ever got over the other things. The things that happened before he left. He can't make them unhappen. And neither can Gon. But maybe they can work through them. Eventually. Maybe they can build something better than before.
(Maybe Alluka and Nanika can help)

Wayward Souls by DriftingGlass ( T | 87,703 | 15/15 )
Gon Freecss has been ordered to transport a notorious and bloodthirsty criminal thousands of miles to the execution block in the kingdom's Imperial Capitol.
Enter Killua Zaoldyk, his prisoner and rather unwilling "travel-buddy."
Of course, Gon does not expect to be just as drawn to the dark warlock as the other is to him. Not all is what they seem; wires get crossed, stories are shared, and what they find in each other may shake the very worlds they come from, and the paths they have laid out for them.

Oh My God, They Were Roommates by almostmadlad ( T | 125,170 | 27/27 )
After a terrible first semester, Gon transfers to a university in San Francisco where he gets a stellar deal on a one-bedroom apartment.
At least, it was a stellar deal until he moves in and realizes that he inadvertently signed a lease with a complete stranger as a roommate. Not only that, but his accidental roommate is the single hottest guy in his major, Killua Zoldyck, and everyone and their mother is trying to get with him.

Brohemian Rhapsody by almostmadlad ( T | 69,004 | 30/? )
When Alluka moves in with Miss Mito and her rag-tag family of three (four, if you count the neighbor kid Zushi), Killua gets ahold of Gon's number for emergency purposes. They end up talking far more frequently than expected.
A cute little slice-of-life summer suburbia texting fic feat. Delinquent Gon, Preppy Killua, and their ridiculous friends.

Tease by litrallymadlad ( E | 132,115 | 22/22 )
No fucking way, Killua thought. There’s no way Gon is a porn star.
He clicked onto the account’s profile page. There, in perfect clarity, was a picture of Gon Freecss’ face.
- - -
Killua thought it was weird that his lecture hall buddy, Gon, “didn’t have social media”. He didn’t look into it—at least, not at first. But when the nude model in his figure drawing class turns out to be a porn star, Killua really didn’t expect her to be a dominatrix, much less one that collaborated with Gon Freecss.
Killua’s semester is about to get a whole lot more interesting.

[Deleted] You’re Breaking My Guard by peachiinari ( M | 147,565 | 30/30 )
He misses it. Fighting.
Ballet took off the nervous edge from not being as active as he used to, but it didn’t quite replace the feeling or tension he felt during a good sparring. He misses the feeling of his heart at his throat, pounding, as he swings fist and foot, technique after technique, to knock his opponent out.
So he doesn’t protest when Bisky takes him to the industrial zone in YorkNew City, to some underground ring she supposedly sponsors. He watches as his world tilts on his axis, and he gets thrown into a world he didn’t know existed.
He watches as Gon Freecss comes stumbling into his life, and turns it completely upside with one swift punch to the gut.
((or: Killua does ballet but wishes for a little more in his life, and Gon participates in a fight club as the undefeated fighter. Their paths cross, and there grows a little something more.))

one hundred by wartransmission ( T | 107,496 | 13/20 )
Everything is still the same but not, and Killua wonders how long this happiness will last. He can’t help it; it’s ingrained into him, this cautiousness that has saved his life countless times before.
Gon, on the other hand, is set on proving to him that this happiness can last. And if Gon was one thing, it was stubborn to the point of obstinacy.

However, his brother, Illumi, a powerful magician, challenges him for his inheritance. When Killua refuses to give it up, Illumi curses him to live for hundreds of years with no human companionship, while dying slowly and painfully of a disfiguring disease. Of course, he has yet to meet Gon Freecss.

But their peace is shattered the moment Gon Freecss crashes into their lives. Gon, a gang member who is as dangerous as he is charming; Gon, who has a single-minded determination to finish the mission he came into town for; Gon, who could unravel Killua and Alluka’s secrets as easily as he smiles—

I Want Something (Just Like This) by cheritsundere ( T | 35,823 | 4/4 )
"Look, Brother! They have a new action figure of you-R FAVORITE HUNTER," Alluka said, correcting her word choice when she remembered that they were out in public.
He looked into the store shop window. Situated among some of the most popular hunters was a tiny version of himself, striking a dynamic pose - his jacket flowing dramatically and little blue sparks decorating the base. It wasn't bad. Definitely an improvement over his 1st merch.
He heard a gasp to his left. "SilverShock is your favorite too?!"
With a quick turn, Killua was met with the biggest brown eyes he thought could exist and a smile even bigger. The kid couldn't be much older than him yet he had a feeling that Mr. Sunshine probably acted closer to a Kindergartner. He took a few steps closer to his sister to put some distance between them before answering. "He's more my sis's fave than mine, but yeah I think he's cool," Killua answered, internally patting himself on the back for his modesty. He was probably the best newcomer in the country if his stats were anything to go by, but still...
Mr. Sunshine was a fan of his?

[Discontinued] A Myriad of Color by benitato ( E | 34,808 | 11/17 )
Everything is monochromatic in Gon’s world until he meets Killua, who doesn’t seem to realize how starved he is of a life with color. This only makes Gon more determined to show him how much there is to see besides gray— if only Killua would stop refusing to touch him.
Killua doesn’t mind a world of shadows; it’s terribly convenient. He’s not about to let one happy-go-lucky heathen of a soulmate change that, fate be damned. And no, he doesn’t particularly care that said soulmate is a bit on the attractive side, or that he keeps nudging closer and offers Killua chocolate.
Nope. Not at all.

[Discontinued] Hooked on you by khohnsu ( E | 50,309 | 15/? )
Killua’s job at the club wasn’t always easy.
Especially not when people are constantly hitting on him, their bouncer tends to beat up their customers, and a certain handsome stranger keeps visiting him.

[Discontinued] Crossfire by Arivael ( M | 43,689 | 11/18 )
When Gon and Killua had first taken the job, it had seemed simple enough: sneak, steal, deliver—easy. They hadn’t expected for things to escalate so quickly, much less for them to get personal in the most painful way possible.
After all, they were criminals. They weren’t fit for playing ‘heroes'—it just wasn’t their thing. And falling in love? That had never been a part of the equation.
Love was a dangerous thing to be in when people wanted nothing more than to make you suffer.

[Discontinued] In Light of Things We Cannot See by teasdays ( T | 27,488 | 3/? )
Killua’s shoulder prickles as the presence there seems to shift. He breathes out.
“Gon is exactly who I think he is. And he’s disappeared at the same time as-” Killua’s eyes dart from Illumi to the window, and he nearly glances to his desk, where the gold box rests. “At the same time as I released a jinni. I think you’re drawing the wrong conclusions.”
“Never trust the occult,” Illumi tells him. Killua knows he's right; his sister’s headstone is reminder enough.
But Killua has grown up with a sixth sense – the unusual ability to feel magic around him, traces of it on magic users, or the concentrated crackle of spirits made up of magic itself. And so Killua knows that the boy he met at boarding school is a far cry from the jinni that wears Gon’s face. But Gon is missing, and it’s Killua’s fault – he’s the one, after all, who released the jinni in the first place.

Yorknew was a vile city.
But from these depths rose a - hero was not the right word. The have-nots loved him and the haves feared him, hated him, wondered who this mole was in their ranks who took the upper echelon’s dirty laundry and flung it out to dry. Backroom deals and recordings made it to the paper. Especially corrupt or violent officials were left strung up (alive, though he didn’t seem to care much if they lasted or not) with clippings of their wrongdoings fluttering around them.
To some, he was a folk hero. To others, he was a nightmare given flesh. To all he was a reckoning dressed in black and silver and red.
He signed his letters and elaborately staged scenes with Bloody Chain.
