you know i always think it'd be fun to make some kind of history popularization content, be it videos or just posts or whatever, but what always stops me is uhhh humility i guess???? like i realise the point of popular science is to divulge knowledge to a wide non-expert audience so it's probably best not to overthink it but I also feel SO SILLY writing stuff like that like. what could i add? surely you know this!!!!
#most likely people do not know this whatever this is in any given scenario#but i always feel this sense of. shame i guess? like oh sorry for presuming you wouldn't know about this very basic fact#sometimes when i read posts like that here on topics that are within my area they upset me because i find them simplistic and condescending#but that's silly obviously im not the public for them. i dont think that at all about popular science that's about other fields#sigh anyways

#that song keeps making appearances in my life#we had a small group session on sensory systems today so we spent some time talking about olfaction#and it came up that smell can really strongly evoke past memories#(sometimes a certain smell will take me back to when I was young)#and then one of my friends said out of the blue that he wishes there was a way to make candles with those scents#(I’d make a candle out of it if I ever found it)#I almost screamed I swear to god#ramblings#sigh anyways

Working with teenagers and young adults is very upsetting because to them your subject is just another one of those tortures they are subjected to and for you it is what you love doing and seeing them neglect all the opportunities you put forward for them is kind of... discouraging
