The Ball

Warnings: None

Copyright: I do not own any Marvel characters or locations. However, I do own my OCs, which consist of Penny Fury, Elizabeth Nelson, Elijah Chan, Katya Venice, Violetta Moscow, Lan Le, Josh, Trang Tien, Ahni Jallow, Mai Ito, and Ghaida Kashual as well as other OCs that will come up throughout the story.

Penny headed down the stairs, feeling like a princess in a fairy book. For one thing, the palace on Asgard was huge and spectacular. Everything looked like it was made of gold and silver, glass and marble. Complete with a nature like scene so that ivy crept up aesthetically on the pillars. Small hummingbirds and butterflies even zipped in and out of the space.

Servants headed in every which direction, all of them smiling and happy. Bowing to her as she passed, offering her food and drinks, which she didn't feel she needed at the moment, but took because she felt obligated.

The other part of this magical feeling was how she was dressed. She was wearing an indigo, bluish colour as she had said she would. There had been so many dresses in her wardrobe, she had hardly known where to start, even when it was narrowed down to that one colour. And she'd only had an idea of where to start because of helping Elizabeth before she'd gone to the super soldiers bedroom.

The indigo of the dress was dark, making her look ethereal with her pale skin and white hair. It also brought out an unnatural brightness in her one blue eye.

The upper part of the dress was a smooth velvet, with fluffy sleeves. There were hints of gold at the very top, as well as the belt like decoration around her waist. The skirt was a slightly lighter indigo colour, with white patterns across it. It was designed to look like the galaxy, with white stars and smattering of white dots like snow.

She'd worn a single drop sapphire necklace and pulled her hair up into a bun so that the matching earrings showed. Her heels matched the white of the dress and were very comfortable compared to Earthly heels.

Thor and Loki were waiting at the bottom of the stairs, both of them wearing different coloured suits and what almost looked like armor to complete their outfits. Thor was wearing black and gold. Loki was wearing silver and green.

"Shall we?" Thor and Loki both held out their arms and Penny slipped her hands through each of them, walking in the middle of the two brothers.

"Whoa." Penny actually found herself expressing her amazement as they entered the grand ballroom. It was like the ballroom from Beauty and the Beast and Cinderella put together.

There were many people that she didn't know- other Asgardians she figured- as they passed by. Women wearing poufy dresses like hers and some were even bigger than hers.

"It's beautiful." Penny gasped.

Thor smiled down at her, "It's yours."

Penny was hit with that sudden realization. She was Loki and Thor's soulmates. And with Loki, she was his only female soulmate. Thor did have Sif, but since she constituted as a warrior, she didn't have the rights to the throne unlike Penny. Of course, Penny thought, she might constitute as a warrior as well. Would they consider her being an Agent of S.H.I.E.L.D. as the same classification?

The first person that she recognized off the bat was Violetta, who was standing to the side. Penny could have almost described her as standing off awkwardly, except Violetta was not someone that could ever seem awkward.

Penny couldn't stop herself from scanning every inch of Violetta's dress. The skirt was not as poufy as the others were, and it was red from the skirt to the waist line, made of shimmering silk. From the waist up, there was a see through material that went over her chest and shoulders, the sleeves going all the way to just above her wrists. The only thing that covered her intimate top parts, was a pattern of red stitching in the shape of flowers.

Violetta caught Penny's eye and Penny blushed deeply, but the Italian girl simply winked at her and said, "See something you like?"

Loki turned away for a moment to shake hands with someone that had come over to greet them. And Thor had found Fandral and was corralling him over. Penny took a step closer to Violetta. "What if I said yes?"

Violetta bit her bottom lip and said, "Then perhaps after tonight, you would like to come to my room?"

"I would love that." Penny said breathlessly.

"Hey!" A sudden voice said from their right and they both looked over to see Ghaida and Trang joining them.

"Wow Trang." Violetta said, astounded, "That's actually a pretty colour on you." She turned back to Penny and said, "I didn't think she would look good in the periwinkle blue."

"You look gorgeous." Penny complimented sincerely.

Trang's dress was a periwinkle blue, made of a soft floating material. It was off the shoulders and flowed easily down her long frame. The flower details were mostly scattered along the edge of the dress, but it was flattering nonetheless.

"Out of curiosity, what religion are you?" Penny asked Ghaida, who was wearing some sort of traditional, Middle Eastern perhaps, dress. It was a red colour, and neatly stitched. She was also wearing some sort of headpiece, along with lots of jewelry.

"Hindu." Ghaida explained. "This is what we wear to grand dances like this. And also, weddings when we get married."

"Are you getting married?" Penny panicked, looking around. Surely someone would have told her if one of the Avengers was getting married.

Ghaida gave her a sad smile, "No, my soulmate is dead."

"Oh, I'm sorry." Penny said, kicking herself mentally for not knowing this sort of stuff.

"It's alright. I found out a long time ago." Ghaida explained. "I never knew him, so it was slightly easier to mourn. No bond between the two of us to feel pain through."

Luckily, they were saved by Katya, Ahni, and Mai who were coming over, clearly glad to have found the rest of the 'gang'.

"Thank god." Katya gasped, nearly tripping in her heels as she came to a stop. "I think I put on the wrong size heels."

Katya was wearing a beautiful pink dress, that complimented her tanned skin tone. Her Carmel hair had been curled and tossed over her shoulders.

Violetta snorted at her best friend, "You idiot. Didn't you know they felt tight before you left the bedroom?"

"I was. . . distracted." Katya blushed slightly, clearing her throat and looking away.

"Lan." Vi snickered.

"No, Elijah, actually." Katya blushed even darker.

Penny assumed that would be because Elizabeth had pushed him away. She looked around, but didn't see the fire power Avenger, nor the Ice one. Hopefully though, they were making up right now, just as she had planned it.

"I like your guys' dresses." Penny complimented all three of them. Ahni, despite her larger size, was rocking a very sexy, black sparkly dress with deep cleavage that showed off just how large her mounds were. It was a wonder that Mai could keep her eyes off her soulmate for longer than five seconds.

Mai herself was wearing a very bright yellow dress, the complete opposite of Ahni. It too showed off her cleavage, though not to the extent of Ahni's, while also showing her firm waist line.

"Where's Elizabeth, Nat, and Wanda?" Trang asked, looking around.

Katya snorted, "Right. Like you actually think Elizabeth's coming. Funny."

Penny bit her tongue.

"Hey, give her some time." Violetta frowned. "It can't be easy going through what she went through."

"Well the solution wasn't to push all of her friends away." Katya snapped, clearly upset about it.

Penny decided to break away from the conversation, scanning the ball now for the others. She found Pietro and Rhodey first. The two men were sampling a drink in the corner, both of them looking around the ball awkwardly.

Clint was the next one she laid eyes on. He was standing with Tony, Stephen, Loki, and Bruce. The men were talking with a group of pale skinned Asgardians who were wearing the weird suit and armor combination.

The super soldiers were mostly to the side by themselves, the three of them sitting down at one of the tables in the room. Steve and Sam both looked like they were enjoying themselves, laughing at something Penny wasn't sure of. Bucky, though he was smiling softly, kept looking around the room like he was surveying for threats. His shoulders seemed a little tense too.

Their eyes met and Penny winked at Bucky, before continuing her search. She wondered if Elizabeth was going to chicken out.

Or, perhaps her plan of Elijah and Elizabeth getting back together and talking had either a) backfired or b) was going so well that neither of them were going to make it to the ball.

Penny soon found Natasha and Wanda, talking with Lady Sif and Fandral the dashing.

Natasha was wearing a very simple, yet fitting red dress. The top lacey part was a black and the black faded into the red in an ombre style. It gave her a sleek figure and also gave her a look of elegance this time instead of straight up sexy.

Wanda on the other hand, was wearing a beautiful purple dress, stitched with many butterflies. The purple, paired with her vibrant red hair, made her a shining beacon to anyone that wanted her. And Vision was floating around, almost seeming to shy to talk to her, despite the fact that the two of them were soulmates.

Lady Sif's dress seemed rather plain, but more fitting than all of the others. A simple, shimmering silver dress with a belt buckle.

Penny supposed after you attended a thousand plus years worth of balls, you probably didn't have quite the same enthusiasm for getting all dressed up as you once did.

Natasha caught Penny's eye, and she said something so that the three girls headed over to join the rest of them.

"Oh good! Now the gangs all here!" Katya said brightly as they joined, handing out glasses with some sort of alcohol in it. Penny gave it a sniff, but didn't think it was anything she'd ever had before.

Violetta looked like she wanted to say something, but thought better of it and just shook her head. Katya caught it anyways, "Don't sweat it Vi. Elizabeth wouldn't drink any-" Katya broke off, dropping her mouth just slightly at something over Penny's shoulder.

They all looked and Penny saw with great happiness that Elizabeth was striding through the ballroom.

She looked absolutely gorgeous and Penny was hit with a pang that Elizabeth didn't like her in that way. She was wearing an emerald green dress with white sleeves. Her long hair was still braided over her shoulder. The large white water lilies still in her hair.

Penny smirked as Bucky's mouth actually dropped to the floor upon seeing her and Steve choked on his drink.

Penny watched Elijah walk in after her, accompanied by Lan. Elijah immediately sought out Penny and smirked at her, making his way towards her. Penny half watched Elijah approach her, and half watched as Elizabeth finally got right in front of Sam and then sat down on his lap, whispering in his ear.

"Penelope." Elijah's smooth, slightly accented voice greeted her. He held out a hand. "Want a dance?"

Penny accepted the hand before she even knew what she was doing, letting Elijah take her away to the dance floor.

"First and foremost, I want to tell you how beautiful you look tonight." Elijah said, flashing her a grin. Penny felt that his hands were hotter than most, but not in a bad way. They were comforting and Penny wondered for a moment if Elizabeth ever used his hands as a heating pad for her periods.

"Thank you." Penny accepted the compliment with a blush.

"And secondly, thank you for helping Elizabeth." Elijah said seriously. "I've been worried about her for a while now. I'm glad you brought her out of her shell."

"I think she just needed someone to talk to who had been in the same, or close to the same, situation." Penny answered sincerely. "I was able to connect on this level of. . . how we felt after. Like how I wasn't sure if I liked BDSM because it was a psychological thing from my time as a slave there, or if it was because I genuinely liked it. And for her, she was upset about how she still wanted to do things with people. She thought she would be judged, like she wasn't acting the way a raped girl should."

Elijah nodded, "Despite how she acts, she is very conscious of other people's judgement. I think that's one of the reasons she took Sam's comment to heart."

"You knew?" Penny asked.

Elijah smiled a little. "I make sure I know everything about my soulmate. But, sometimes I let others draw it out of her. Certain people can get her to reveal certain things. Like you did. Sometimes its' the soldiers. Sometimes its Tony or Pietro or Rhodey or Fury. Or, you know, one of her friends. Sometimes its just Bucky."

"Do you know?" Penny asked, "What it is that she talked to Bucky about that night?"

Elijah nodded. "Yes. It- all of her friends knew it. Us that were there before it happened. But Bucky is the first person that she's told after it happened. It- It may not seem like a big deal to someone else, but for her, it was a lot to talk about. And as it so happens, Bucky was the right person to share it with."

The two of them revolved on the spot and Elijah added, "I think that's why she hid so hard afterwards. She had been violated by Rumlow, then completely vulnerable to Bucky, and then just so heard something made her feel both violated and vulnerable at the same time."

Penny nodded, but didn't say anything else.

"I was thinking though," Elijah said, his tune changing and so did the topic of the conversation, "How would you feel about pursing a sexual relationship with me?" He smirked at the end and Penny felt herself growing aroused, just as much as she had with Violetta.

"I- oh stop laughing." Penny giggled, "You know perfectly well that I would like that."

"Would you want to stay over in my room tonight?" Elijah asked, raising an eyebrow.

"I would." Penny said, biting her bottom lip. "But I have already promised my night to Violetta."

Elijah's eyes lit up with pleased surprise, "That's great. Another night then."

"Of course." Penny smirked, "And of course, if you want to participate in the orgy tonight, I wouldn't mind."

Elijah smirked and said, "I think you know I'm not a huge fan of participating in those as a participant. I prefer the view. And I must say, watching you bouncing on Loki's cock while Clint pounds you from behind is a sight to behold sunshine."

Penny's heart stuttered in her heart. When she found she could speak she muttered, "Sunshine?"

Elijah laughed, "Don't ask me. Just rolled right off the tongue."

Penny hesitated and then asked, "What's the accent?"

"Chinese. Hong Kong specifically." Elijah answered with ease. "I know English and Chinese perfectly, but the accent sticks."

"It's endearing." Penny teased.

Elijah scowled, "Am I a puppy now?"

Penny laughed as the song came to an end, but there wasn't much pause before another song started up almost immediately. "Thank you for the dance Elijah. I should go get one from Violetta."

Elijah bowed, kissing the back of her hand, making Penny flush once more, before she fled back to the girls, and asked Violetta to dance.

Elizabeth's heart was beating heavily in her chest as she approached the super soldiers. Her eyes mostly focused on Sam, the one she wanted to apologize to first. But she could see that Bucky's mouth had dropped when she'd entered the room, and she could see Steve coughing harshly as he had inhaled water instead of drinking it.

She didn't hesitate as she came in front of Sam, and then sat down on his lap. "I'm sorry." She whispered in his ear, feeling his hands on her waist.

Sam pulled her back, cupping her face with his hand, "Sugar, I'm the one whose sorry-"

She kissed him, cutting off the words. She knew she shouldn't have run, but she was scared. It had not been an easy two days before she heard the words, and she knew that they were true. Sometimes, the lines got blurred easily in the tower for who they should put first: soulmate or the one they knew longer? Soulmate or the one that was hurt?

Lines shouldn't have been blurred like that.

But they weren't even blurred. They were completely gone and had always been completely gone. Every single one of them from Tony Stark down to Ghaida Kaushal was in this to deeply. And every single one of them in between.

"I shouldn't have hid." Elizabeth whispered against Sam's skin. "I got scared."

"I know. I'm sorry. It was nothing against you Elizabeth." Sam replied softly. "I just-"

"-Wanted to put your soulmate first. As you rightly should." Elizabeth said with a small smile. "It was just, after everything that happened, I wasn't thinking straight. That's all."

Elizabeth felt hands on her shoulder and turned her head to see Steve standing behind her. He bent down and kissed her cheek. "I'm glad you're back doll."

Elizabeth blushed happily and got off Sam slowly. She hesitated in front of Bucky. Bucky sighed, leaning forward to rest his head against her stomach, "Don't leave again. Please?"

"I won't." Elizabeth said softly, running a hand through his hair. Steve grabbed Sam to drag him towards the dance floor. "I promise."

Bucky nodded, pulling her onto his lap to kiss her passionately. He lifted the dog tags out from under his shirt and said, "Steve- he likes to look at them a lot. So he saw yours. I'm sorry. I would never share-"

Elizabeth shook her head, wrapping her hand around Bucky's around the tags. "No. I need to stop hiding. It's okay."

The two of them sat there in comfortable silence until Elijah came over, "Elizabeth, can I have a dance?"

Elizabeth smiled, getting out of Bucky's lap and taking Elijah's hand. "Of course."

It wasn't much of a dance, considering how big she was getting. But they went out on the dance floor and swayed to some music.

Elijah flushed a little, "I am interested in Penny, just thought you should know."

"About time." Elizabeth smirked at him, causing him to laugh. "I was wondering when you'd get around to it. Are you going tonight?"

"No, actually, she's going to be with Violetta tonight." Elijah said, surprise laced in his voice. "I was surprised I suppose, but I'm glad."

"Yeah, Penny said they connected well on the mission." Elizabeth laughed. Elizabeth looked up at her soulmate with a bit of worry and then said, "Elijah, you know that I love you right? That I don't go to other men or push you to other women because I don't."

Elijah cupped her cheek and smiled down at her. "Oh Milady. There is no one I'd rather be with than you. I love you deeply and I know that you love me just as deeply. And at the same time, I love Katya and Trang and Wanda. You know this. And I know you love the super soldiers and Rhodey and Pietro and Stark. And I'm glad, because you have a big heart to give all of this love too. So don't worry about that love."

Elizabeth smiled, cuddling as close into him as she could. "Where are you spending the night tonight?"

"Ghaida did ask if I was going to be anywhere tonight." Elijah admitted. "But I will put you first, always."

Elizabeth glanced over at where Bucky was dancing and laughing with Steve and said, "Go to Ghaida. I think there's something I should do tonight."

Elijah glanced over and smiled down at her, "Yes, there is." Elijah kissed her deeply and said, "I love you."

"I love you too."
