got into enstars about a year ago right around this time, and for nearly as long, i've been wanting to show my vision... ii hiyori!

probably a weird question but any height hcs for the mekakushi dan?

not weird at ALL. not only does the mekakushi dan have CANON heights but i have my thoughts about them

from shortest to tallest, these are their CANON heights:

hiyori 138 cm (4'5'')

hibiya 140 cm (4'6")

mary 154cm (5'0")

ayano 155 cm (5'1")

takane 157 cm (5'1") as ene, 640 pixels

momo 162 cm (5'3")

kano 165cm (5'4")

kido 168 cm (5'6")

shintaro 172 cm (5'8")

seto 178 cm (5'10")

haruka 182 cm (6'0")

i dont think these heights are bad but i think they're a little silly, especially hibiya and hiyori. girl they're 12. they wouldn't be THAT tiny!!! ive been the same height since i was 12 tbh, ive been 154cm (5'0'') for ten years 😐😐😐 anyways. yeah. they wouldn't be that short, in my sick twisted mind hibiya and hiyori are around the height of mary ayano & takane.

which brings me to. ayano and takane's heights are a little weird, especially takane. they're mostly drawn with a big height difference with ayano being the tallest when they're actually listed with takane being 3 cm taller so they're rly the same height lol. i usually draw ayano as taller for the lols bc i love shortest of the quartet takane, so id probably either make ayano a little taller (maybe 160cm, which would put her as shorter than momo, or maybe just as tall as momo to have a more clear height difference with takane) or takane a little shorter, but i think her height is fine as is. im a little attached to the 157cm bc of how big of a revelation it was JEJDKEKD and idk mary is always described as super short when there's literally 2 other grown characters just as tall as her lol. take ur "kiddy" mary and shove it up ur ass jin ur weird 💗 mary is my height i get her the view is FINE from here.

the thing with takane is that he's got the whole Secret Identity thing like as is takane is KINDA a spoiler character? and enes whole thing is that no one knows where they came from so for a long time we only knew how big ene was in pixels ajdkwjdk and unlike everyone else she does NOT have the funny fun facts like a canon birthday or height or weight. we only know the height bc in a takane sketch from sidu they wrote next to it the 157cm and the fandom took it and ran with it. at least that's how i remember it, i was so damn excited. idk if it has ever been super confirmed (tho its been listed in the wiki for years), so i can see why its so inconsistent to ayano(and mary, who is also close to their height but we see takane with ayano more often) and his weight is listed as 2MB. thats soooo funny. mysterious weight takane sometimes it can be so #girl but also im kinda glad bc the weights are so fucking BULLSHIT.

anime when making a girl heavier than 45kg: 😱 girl are u fucking crazy. ayano and momo have the same weight? mary is listed as 130 apples heavy? its such a mess. the weights are SHIT and NOT REAL. anyways u didnt ask abt that but yeah their weights 👎👎👎👎👎 not real.

anyways. id make these characters around the same height (in the range of 154cm to 159 cm) from shorter to tallest: hiyori, hibiya, mary, takane, ayano. maybe even ayano as tall as momo. and hibiya and hiyori would probably grow taller than those 3 as they grow up lol. i think hiyori would end up in a height like momo's and hibiya would be just slightly taller than shintaro which would probably anger shintaro a lot. tho short king hibiya is also funny tbh

WHICH BRINGS ME TO THE TALLEST'S HEIGHTS. ok. seto and haruka. sits DOWN. i think haruka should be taller and seto should be what haruka is listed as. cuz like haruka is always described as like super weirdly tall and he's like omg i hate being so tall when 182cm is like. sure its really tall but i wouldn't call that a weird height??? thats like. idk to me its kinda average tall height. and AGAIN im 154cm so id know a tall person lol my little brother is 180cm (😐) and while he is tall i wouldn't say he's crazy tall!!!and seto just being below 180cm is soooooo wrong SO, to me seto has haruka's height which is 182cm and haruka is probably more around 188cm, maybe getting to 190cm just for shit and giggles. like now THATS what id call weirdly tall. maybe haruka is just called that all the time bc he hangs out with ayano takane and shintaro (shortest adult mekadan members & shintaros painfully below average for a guy height). but whatevers i do love haruka is the tallest character though lol

and the rest are ok. kido being almost as tall as shintaro is awesome. kano being short is also awesome. if im changing shit id make him as short as momo just for shit and giggles which if we go by all my other changes then he'd be as tall as ayano LOLLLL

rambling rambling abt how ive been misunderstanding kagepro for a long time ramble ramble

i will be the first to admit that as an english speaking kgpr fan from ye olden days, theres like.... A Lot of kagepro media that i havent actually consumed. and a lot of my understandings from many of these character are like, not fully complete? and instead formed from various misconceptions, like for example hibihiyo, my understanding of them (poor hiyori and hellish stalker) really only came from that one novel chapter with hibiya's creepy backstory, the scraps from the manga (and even that i didnt completely read in full), and the mvs. but like the novel paints a much more comprehensive picture of the both of them (insanely good parallel to yuukei quartet while also playing the role of 'children' in the adult/child dichotomy?!) that is much much better than what it looks on the surface? especially with just how different otsukimi recital is in the novel vs the mv? and also with how ive been obsessing with seto recently, this is the first time ive ever had a seto phase in all my years of falling in and out of this franchise? and its great??

what im essentially saying, is that bc of the pacing of kagepro media releases and the added hurdle of needing translations.. i havent properly experienced kagepro ever, actually. and im very pleased that a lot of the complaints i held towards it are turning out to be misconceptions, and kagepro is actually wayyy better than i thought it was?!

yes there are still the tints of misogyny, hibiya's creepiness towards hiyori is just something you have to turn away from to enjoy this franchise unfortunately, and the female POVs have pretty stereotypical talk abt maintaining beauty and weight and whatnot, but in spite of that... it still tells a really compelling, fleshed-out story. like Every character is densely developed that its kinda insane. and its especially crazy when you realize just how young jin and sidu were when they were making this project, being overworked to the bone.

when i was a young and dumb teenager, i was really critical of this project but looking back its like.... yeah i was really fucking dumb, bc i had misunderstood massive parts of it. of course a lot of the medias werent accessible to me, and kagepro DOES sound grossly misogynistic on a surface level lol (2 guys who academically excel and 3 girls who dont like huh?), but i was jumping to conclusions when i didnt have the whole picture yet. that was dumb of me. so im really glad i gave experiencing kagepro again a chance, especially with the PLETHORA of background knowledge i have about it... woooooo!!

Sidu: Jin-san’s Hiyori is truly a rigid character, huh. Ah, but I don’t know if that’s his taste. (Laugh) The Hiyori as I see her is also the same as her impression from “Kagerou Days”. Though it feels like she’s always pushing others away, it’s not like she’s a character that thinks too ill of anyone.

Okay so I’m going to start a series of song posts. These post come from songs I’ve heard that made me make a concept or even a whole au up in my head.

The first of these is an au called

Heat-Hazed days au (the title comes from the song so go check it out.)

The song Heat-Hazed days or Kagerou Daze written by Jin and drawn by Sidu and the original singer was Hatsune Miku. Spoilers for what the song is about down below so check out the song first if you don’t want me to spoil the story first.

The story of Heat-Hazed Daze is that the two main characters Hibiya Amamiya and Hiyori Asahina are hanging out in the park on a hot summer day when Hiyori loses her cat which she had brought to the park with her. Hiyori chases after her cat and Hibiya run after her.

While Hiyori is chasing after her cat she runs across a street where she is immediately hit by a semi truck that ran a red light killing her almost immediately. This leaves Hibiya dazed on the side of the road after witnessing his friend die. Hibiya hallucinates that the summer heat is mocking him for not saving his friend. He then passes out from the shock and the heat.

Hibiya wakes up in his bed and checks his phone. When he checks his phone he is shocked to find it that he gone back in time to earlier that morning when he first woke up. He believes that his friend’s death was a nightmare and heads to the part to meet her. Once again Hibiya and Hiyori hang out at the park and once again Hiyori’s cat runs away from her. However, Hibiya stops Hiyori from running after her cat and says that they should leave.

Hibiya and Hiyori end up walking through town. At one point Hibiya notice that everyone around them is looking up in horror. Before Hibiya can figure out what everyone is looking at Hiyori passes him and is struck with a iron beam that had fallen from the construction site they were passing. The iron beam hits the center of her body and completely pierces her nearly cutting her in half. She dies and Hibiya is once again mocked by the summer heat for failing to rescue his friend. Hibiya passes out again and wake that same morning.

Hibiya tries to save Hiyori but for the next ten years she dies every day. Hibiya finally figure out a way to save Hiyori. He lets the events of the first day play out but just before Hiyori can get to the street he pushes her aside and gets hit by the same semi truck that killed her the first day and is killed instead.

Hiyori passes out and wakes up in her bed that morning crying to herself. She mumbles to herself that she failed to save Hibiya again as she cradles her cat close to her chest.

So basically both characters are continually killed off and the only way for one of them to live is of the other one dies that day. The person who dies doesn’t remember dying but they person who doesn’t die remember all the times their friend dies. So they are trapped in a cycle with no end in site.

That being said the Heat-Hazed days au would be slightly different but it would have the basic premise of the song.

Tommy wakes up one morning to find his dad (philza) and his brothers (Techno and Wilbur) mad at him because of something he did the night before. He decides to hang out with Tubbo that day so that he doesn’t have to deal with his family being angry at him. Tubbo meets him at the park and Tubbo brings along his cat (Ranboo). After hanging out for a bit the cat runs off and Tubbo chases after it. Tommy runs after Tubbo until they reach the street and Tubbo is hit by a semi truck. Tommy is dazed by this and then to make matters worse the summer heat morphs to look like a person (Dream) and mocks him for failing to save Tubbo. Tommy passes out and wake up that very same morning.

Tommy then spends the next ten years with his family angry at him every morning and his best friend dying no matter what Tommy tries to do. Eventually Tommy finally figures out how to save Tubbo. He lets the events of the first day play out but pushes Tubbo out of the way. He lets himself get hit by the truck hoping to break the cycle by dying.

Dream is shocked by this as he never had planed Tommy’s death he wanted to torment him but he didn’t know what to do now. He decided to see how the day would progress without Tommy and without his interference. He watched as Tommy’s family and Tubbo grieved for the loss of Tommy. He found it amusing to see that the family could go from being completely mad at Tommy to missing him the instant he was gone. He also found it poetic how Tubbo grieved for Tommy. He decided that he was going to continue his game but with these people in the mix.

He reset the day again this time having Tommy, Tubbo and Tommy’s family remember the day prior. Everyone but Tommy thought it was a nightmare so they continued on with their days like they had previously. The family wasn’t as mad at Tommy this time but the were still a little angry so Tommy didn’t notice the difference this time around. Tubbo and Tommy hung out like every other time but when Tubbo’s cat ran away this time Tommy got up to go chase after it.

My top 3 characters: from last to first, Momo, Takane, Kano.

Character I like the least: Hiyori. I'm sorry, I know a lot of people like her and the manga made me change my mind about her a little, but she's still definitely the character I like the least.

Character I resemble the most: Kano. I've always been the one listening and trying to help others, but never spoke about themselves. I'm so used to it that even now I can't physically bring myself to talk about how I feel, especially when I don't feel good. And when I finally open up, I feel worse or I don't do it completely.

What makes me similar to Mekakushi Dan members (one trait for each character): I was a very shy kid like Kido, I always try to understand how people feel like Seto, I didn't talk very much when I was younger like Mary, I try to stay energetic around people and cheer others up now like Momo, I was a Tsundere so much like Takane when I was around 14-16 that I'd rather die than think about it, I don't like going out like Shintaro (+ social awkwardness), and I couldn't live in a big, big city just like Hibiya. I can't think of anything for Konoha other than my endless love for food.

Which superpower I’d like to have the most: Takane/Ene's. I feel like you would need a lot of time to be able to manage the other powers? And in the meantime you would suffer so much, just like how it happened to the Dan.

Whose backstory I find the most depressing: probably the Yuukei Quartet as a whole, they suffered too much!!

What I find the most depressing in KagePro in general: THE ETERNAL S U F F E R I N G.

Whose hoodie I want to have the most: oops, I'm biased 🌝 Kano's!

Whom I’d like to have as best friend: Momo, I love her!!

Whom I’d like to have as brother: HARUKAAAA

Whom I’d like to have as sister: Ayano, obviously!!

Whom I’d date: Takane, she's a beautifu waiful!!

My favorite media (songs, novel, manga, anime): definitely the novels!

My favorite novel’s volume: AAAAAA I have my top 3. Last place is for Summertime Reload, second place is for Over the Dimension and the first place goes to The Deceiving. I should re-read them, though.

My favorite manga’s volume: the whole storyline of Haruka and Takane. I have to admit it, I don't like the manga as much as the novels but I prefer the manga version of their backstory.

My favorite episode of MCA: the 6th! I liked seeing the Yuukei Quartet, even back then when I didn't know basically anything about the series. Even though I've always hated the way they handled Takane at the end of the episode.

What I liked the most about MCA: probably the voice acting. I think their voices were pretty spot-on. Even recently when I watched Kagerou Daze - in a day's - I still liked the voice acting.

What I disliked the most about MCA: I know KagePro is a series that covers songs, novels, manga and only at the end of it you should watch the anime, but it was the first thing I saw about it and I think they could have handled it better. It's just confusing and I think it was too rushed.

How did I find out about KagePro: I found the MV of Summertime Record and I fell in love instantly, then I discovered the anime was right about to start and I gave it a try. But what made me get really into it were the songs, definitely.

How did I get into the fandom: I don't think I remember exactly? I would say I got into the fandom for real just recently, because I usually enjoy things alone and the only thing I look for are the fanarts!

What I like the most about KagePro: the characters, without any doubt. They became so important to me and everything about the series means so much now. It made me grow as a person, it made me go through a very, very hard time but I think I wouldn't be who I am now if I didn't find out about KagePro in that exact moment of my life.

What I like the most about fandom: again, I'm not that into it even now but the first things that comes to my mind are the many, many talented artists.

What would I tell Jin if I’d met him (and know Japanese): thank you so, so much, Jin. You helped me find friends in these characters and I'm so glad I found out about Kagerou Project.

How did I survive August 15th: oh well it's coming up soon, and if it will be this hot tHAT'S WHAT WILL KILL ME.

Random headcanon: mmmmmh ok, so, I will say this and I know I will get a lot of hate but I think Kano and Kido don't see each other as siblings? I mean, this doesn't necessarily mean I ship them or that everybody should ship them immediately, but I just believe that the relationship Kano and Kido have with Seto individually and the one between each other is different. This could mean lovers or it could mean best friends, you decide. But that's what I've always gotten from them.

Ayano’s Kagerou Daze

(I know this is not a usual post for this blog but I really wanted to analize this)

Okay, so with Additional Memory we can finally see Ayano’s version of the Kagerou Daze. At first I thought it was just an aesthetic PV without much meaning other than to look nice, but after watching it a couple of times I’m pretty sure it shows what she had to endure inside her Daze.

At first, we are shown her death: she is on the edge of the school roof, and moments later, she jumps off.

This is where the proper song starts, and we are shown Ayano inside her personal Kagerou Daze: a monochrome, upside down classroom, where the only color that pops is the red on her scarf and eyes. The classroom is filled with a field of flowers on the floor where Ayano stands (which would be the actual ceiling), these flowers are the same ones that their classmates put in a jar on her desk after her suicide. On the ceiling (the actual floor) there are lots of school desks, both of these elements are usually associated to Ayano in other PVs and in Mekakucity Actors.

Ayano is seen with a very serious face, it seems like she’s been there for a long time, like when Hibiya had already been through many loops an was starting to get really tired of them; they have the same apathetic face. She is also standing still, yet her clothes and hair move constantly and very violently like if there was a lot of wind, this is probably just a representation of what we see later, using the same animation.

After that, we see Ayano looking at the usual TV with the Lost Time Memory scene on it, this is a representation of what is inside Ayano’s mind: she is very regretful of the things she couldn’t do when she was alive.

Her trial inside the Kagerou Daze starts after this, she is seen falling upside down, like if the gravity (or maybe, her point of view) is turned around, she falls through the sky, passing the school windows until she hits the bridge where she last saw Shintaro and dies again.

She wakes up again where she was at the start, but laying down on the field of flowers, in a posture similar to the one people put the corpses on a funeral.

This is probably a parallelism of Kagerou Daze, Hibiya/Hiyori and Ayano’s trial seem to have the same base: they keep dying and waking up on the same spot everytime they fail.

In Ayano’s case it seems like she has to keep jumping off to the void and falling to her death, she also looks like she has been doing this dozens of times. The thing is that it seems like she always falls upside down, so she has to turn around the situation.

After she wakes up she sits down in a posture showing that she is actually really depressed, regretful and tired, she has been trying to get out of there too many times now, she is mentally exhausted, as the lyrics say “If this was the wrong idea, I didn’t want to know”, she is questioning what she did, regretting her sacrifice, she wants to go back and do everything she didn’t do, “the overflowing tears are soaked into the sky”, she stands up and starts crying, and when the tears go up instead of going down, she starts to realize the situation, her point of view starts to change, and so, her mindset, “even though I can’t return anymore, even though I can’t go back anymore, now it only aches, it became upside-down”, with this, we get to the climax of the song, she looks up and finally realizes everything is upside down, literally and metaphorically. And with this new realization, she jumps off to the void again.

“Falling, realizing”, the scene changes to Ayano finally falling down instead of up, this is because she finally accepted her situation, she finally accepted her feelings and turned her point of view around, which the Kagerou Daze manifests as the whole world turning around. She even has her eyes closed this time, she is more relieved. “Don’t erase them, remember them, the real feelings I left behind”, even though she feels regret of the things she didn’t get to do and say, even if there is a possibility her sacrifice was useless, she can’t do anything about it, so she has to accept it.

The PV finishes with Ayano’s empty desk in her Kagerou Daze, this could represent that she finally passed her Kagerou Daze trial and arrived at the one we see on Mekakucity Actors: the classroom inside an eternal sunset, where she will wait for Shintaro to help her.

I really liked this song and PV, since it shows us the real feelings Ayano had towards her suicide/sacrifice, we know because of Mekakucity Actors that on her last moments she was terrified, but now we know that after arriving at her Daze, she felt a lot of regret of what she did, I think that makes Ayano a more tridimensional and real character than before. Jin and Sidu really did a great job again!

TL;DR

Ayano’s Kagerou Daze consists in a monochrome, upside down classroom, with a field of flowers on the floor (the ones her classmates put in a jar on her desk after her death) and school desks on the ceiling. Her trial consists on her having to jump off to her death repeatedly, even though she keeps falling upside down, since the gravity seems messed up inside her Daze. She has to keep doing this until she finds herself and realizes her actual feelings towards her sacrifice (she is terribly regretful about it) to finally turn around her point of view, metaphorically and literally, since her Daze manifests this turning the whole world around, so she can finally jump off to the void one last time, and fall down instead of up. This gets her out of this trial, to arrive at the classroom inside an eternal sunset where we see her appear on Mekakucity Actors, where she will wait for Shintaro.
