i do love that when Barret confronts President Shinra about how Shinra is exploiting the planet to generate electricity and stuff, the President just replies "oh sure you accuse us, but who benefits of it? if you weren't taking advantage of it, we wouldn't be doing it!" and Barret rightfully gets angry because "don't you dare pinning that on us!"
like. it's like Barret and the President recreated the "we should improve society somewhat" "and yet you live in society. curious."
like it's the classic way that the system continue to exist because people cannot live outside of this system, but instead of blaming the system we blame the people who have no other choice but to rely on the system.
And the game irrevocably take Barret's side, as it should
but i also find it even more interesting when you think about the implications of the plate, and actually it's making me forgive the way too long lamp section because it does push its point forward.
Midgar is built on two layers, they put a plate on top of the city, and the rich lives on top of the plate and the poor lives in the under city where they can't see the sky (i do think the remake made the undercity too bright but that's another point all together)
But at least the lamp section showed us that Shinra basically placed huge lamps under the plate so that they would "look like the sun" for the people living in the undercity, and since the whole quest is about disabling the lamps because they took too much power and you need power to access the elevator, it shows exactly that Shinra is creating a demand for something that shouldn't even exist to start with.
like yeah, they need Mako to light up the whole city, and those living in the undercity needs the light produced by Mako energy, because else they'll never see the light of the sun! obviously! As if the fact the undercity cannot see the sun isn't Shinra's fault to start with.
Like in the end with this exploration time, it really gives you an idea of how the energy that's being generated from the planet's abuse is used on things that wouldn't even exist if this exploitation wasn't going on t start with.
I'm forgiving the super long lamp section that made me mad actually i see what the point is and it's brilliant and it works very well at painting Shinra as bad guys in the most accurately capitalistic way while also really showing you how they're full of lies and that Barret is right.
#ichablogging ffviirg#icha has forgived the lamp section sidemission i get it now it wasn't just filler it makes sense i get it

honestly my happy ending for Lucy (said as someone who only finished fallout 3 and her lone wanderer died) is that they get to reclaim their 3 vaults and use their resources while leaving the doors open, and she keeps going on quests until she retires and has a bunch of animals, the marriage she wanted, and friends who keep visiting her, after they truly started unraveling what is left of Vault Tec, and you can pry that from my cold dead hands
#also I want for Lucy to every now and then go on her own sidemissions and you vaguely see her walk by in increasingly crazy#outfits or it turns out that some super mutant fell in love with her and also she had a casino in new vegas named after her or something#just Lucy doing her own weird things and then meeting with her recurring companions at a bar that another friend owns#(can we PLEASE use the fact that has clearly a black widow training with the fighting and the freaking gymnastics that means#she can basically combat and flip in air and also is a sniper? can we please address that. she has the muscle memory but hasn't fully#connected her 'hobbies' to situations in which she fighs for her life but once she does and she trains more? she'll use dart guns anyway.#BUT STILL. she CAN do it)#about lucy;#show: fallout#lucy thread;#muse: lucy

@drtwat asked to be dragged into Jenny's adventures
"Don't hurt him!" She could be speaking to either of them, really, but right now she just doesn't want the weevil to get shot just because he's getting a little aggressive, not when her voice is programmed to do the trick. As long as the weevil isn't furious, she can, for once, help everybody. "It's okay, it's okay, baby, nobody will hurt ya, I just wanna take you home, alright?" After a few more sweet words and reassurances, her voice starts soothing him, and the weevil begins to step in her direction, "That's good, you are doing great! Wanna go home, sweetie? Can you come and help us, mate? Need someone to watch my back while I help him go home safe."

>A short clip is posted, without audio. Said clip features Rose, in her armor, standing on a hill overlooking a Geth encampment. There is a colossus standing next to the main beacon at the center of the camp. After a few moments, Garrus Vakarian comes into view from off to the side, seemingly arguing with her about something, to which she'll roll her eyes and create her Quincy Bow, drawing back an arrow and launching a Sevenfold Burst.
The center arrow will impact it exactly in the eye, the remaining six arrows spearing its neck, the joints of each leg, and the antenna of the beacon it's guarding, causing the colossus to explode from the live wires in its casing coming into contact with the hydraulic fluid in its servos, even as its contact to the Geth backup servers is cut with the destruction of the beacon's aerial.
Rose will turn to Garrus, seeming incredibly smug, before gesturing to the camera when he says something with a flippant gesture.

I'm mostly just doing this new run because I accidentally overwrote my last 100% save with one from an NG+ mod but that mod rearranged the sequence of the first flashback and just put me out of that playthrough entirely.
#I don't wanna rush this one I'm just getting the stuff that bores me out of the way as quickly as possible#like the Aldecaldo stuff - which I used to be able to do but recently its just felt like a chore to do#as well as Judy's stuff#and the side missions in Phantom Liberty#the problem is I frequently encounter that issue where side missions will take ages to trigger#when I start groaning when I remember I have to do/wait for a sidemission I know the game is kinda flopping for me#but if I don't get rid of everything on the map I will go insane

Every day im blown away by how easy the control finale is compared to literally every single boss fight in the game.....
#took me less than ten minutes. insane#tani's personal shit#also? its crazy how much of the game is completely optional. ive mostly focused on the main storyline this run#planning on peppering some side missions here and there but i blinked and the main storyline was over! man!#no wonder i felt terrible after playing literally everything on my first run and finding i had nothing left to do after the credits rolled#anyway this time i havent even seen a couple of entire areas nor seen many npcs from last time its so weird#but hey! more sidemissions to do this time! nice!#AND two entire dlcs fuck yeah#control

Rina convinces Kiryu to ask a dude on a date as a sidemission 🌹.
I'm so glad I could finish colouring something and I don't absolutely hate it, but I'm still a bit stuck with my art. I hope I can do more eventually.

5, 6 and 8!
5. something you see in fics a lot and love
I fucking love fluff that makes me giggle. Also I love fics that are canon compliant and characters are so well-written it feels like extra episode or sidemission or whatever to the original media.
6. something you see in art a lot and love
Expressive faces. I don't have skill to draw emotions so seeing artist who ace that really amazes me every freaking time.
8. you hope more people will come to appreciate ___ (a ship, a trope, an episode, etc)
Again, this is more of a Yakuza thing, but characters from Y7 and Y8 could use more love. I mean there are fics and art but nowhere near as much as from the earlier games.
Also, Okita Soji needs more love. I love him. Ishin! was a very cool game.
Also also, big appreciation for creators who just do their own fucking thing without giving shit about haters. People who know what their kinks are and write story after story about, let's say bondage 'cause that's the shit they're into, very cool, I can dig that enthusiasm (fuck that word I hate writing it I'm sure it's wrong but I'm too cool to give a heck).

for the Ntwewy ask game-- 5, 10, 20!
5. Top 3 boss fights
3. Big Fucking Monkey. Or whatever that boss from W1D2 is called. It's not a particularly interesting or memorable boss, but I have a soft spot for it. I love W1 very very much and it holds a special place in my heart, and because I started with neo, BFM was one of my first twewy boss fights ever and I just found everything about it so charming, from the goofiness of getting to it via Rindo pounding his chest and screaming to the cute battle dialogue (Sho: My advice? Don't get caught -> said as Fret is is being shaken like a baby rattle). Gives me the warm and fuzzies yknow.
2. Leo Cantus. Ngl the first time I ever fought him I was wincing so hard. I was SO SAD that my beloved cat bastard had finally shown up after I'd pined after him for two weeks just so that I could beat him into the pavement. But since then I have grown as a person and as a Sho fan. Now I think beating him up is extremely funny.
1. Motoi. I love everything about this fight. The silly little pose he does with his laptop and his salute. The fact that he has the gall to start a GoFundMe when he can't even wreck a hoard of children on his own. The awkward little scattering of the two pathetic Purehearts he managed to call in before I shut him down. Beautiful. Also I'm not good at games and it's easy.
10. Who has the biggest glow-up with their Neo design? + Who wore it worst?
Uzuki. Uzuki beyond even a shred of doubt. Although it feels a little like cheating because anything would've topped that first design. But I also think that her redesign, out of everyone's, best reflects the growth she underwent in the three year period between og twewy and neo. She's the character who most visibly "grew up" and I think that means a lot for how immature she acted when she was younger. She's finally come into herself as an adult and a leader, and her suit reflects that.
Also, I like to think that her suit is a bit tight and stiff in early neo, but becomes more disheveled as the weeks wear on until she finally loosens her collar and rolls up her sleeves when it's time to put aside her pride and save Shibuya. Symbolism.
As for the worst...I'd say Shiki. I like her colours and I don't actually mind that she's not decked out in Gatto Nero because I think it's funnier that way, but there's something just slightly off about it. A smidge too plain. I think it's the shirt dress.
20. Did you have any theories that turned out to be true? Which do you wish came true?
LONG SUFFERING SIGH. I dont normally theorize. I'm usually just along for the ride. But when it came to neo I really thought I had it figured out. I've talked about this before in a post that's...somewhere now, but my main theory was that the big climax of the game would be a final Scramble Slam between the Shibuya and Shinjuku Reapers for the fate of the city. AND IM STILL MAD THAT DIDNT HAPPEN!! You introduce a TURF WAR sidemission in a story about OUTSIDERS TAKING OVER CONTROL OF THE PROTAGONIST'S TOWN and you NEVER make that relevant to the actual plotline??? Hello????
I also thought that Sho would be involved in it somehow. I was fresh out of the anime with Hanekoma saying that he'd banked on Sho's affection for Shibuya as a backup in case Neku failed, so I'd assumed he would pissed about the Shinjuku Reapers encroaching on his territory. But that never gets brought up. Ever. That could have been a fun NEW thing for him to do instead of the Same Old Shit As Always but I guess that's fine too. It's fine.
#i really liked these ones thanks :]#I miss my minamimoto revolutionary idea it was funny#socialism more like shocialism#asks

Love that they beat 2 A-tier baddies and one B-tier. They had to sacc their best and only ranking asset (gandalf) to negate the B-tier. And the entire journey was to exploit a tiny red glowing weakspot in the one A-tier and required the highest levelled elite squad several countries and races could put together, plus several armies and magical McGuffins, and needed to pull off a sneaky hat-trick even then. And then Sam, profession: gardener. And Frodo, profession: McGuffin carrying device. Come in without even any knowledge of there being another A-Tier to fight, let alone a plan or training or even an acceptable party comp. And the gardener goes and TKOs the secret A-tier like it was a miniboss sidemission!
Thinking of the larger context of LOTR and like, the fellowship swapping old war stories and shit and Sam just says “Yeah I killed a huge spider…Shelob, I think?”
And Gandalf just blinks and is like, “You what now?”
“Yeah, killed it. Had to save Frodo”
Gandalf elects not to tell Sam that he killed the spawn of a primordial demon.

I will definitely not do any unnecessary side-missions in Kuro 2 when that one is out, that much is for sure... or so I say... I mean there are some side-characters that would occasionally give us side-missions I am really invested in at this point...
Jaeger are always a good addition to a team, I tell you XD (Especially if they are a little girl and people totally underestimate them ^^')
I've decided to not do most of the optional sidemissions anymore this time. I will regret that near the end, but its better than way for now. I guess I will make an extra save now to just start here after finished all of the sidemissions so far already.
Nah... I have come so far... I think I have to finish it completely now...
I've heard she gets back together with him in Kai (not sure if she is dumping him here or the next game, to be honest but I remember that she does...) and people are still complaining about the fact that the girl doesn't even get a name, but only gets called Nates Girlfriend. And its basically liked what happened to Shera in Riveri, were people kept calling her Oliverts wife all the time - the translation from NIS actually nerved that one a bit... but this time its not like they can come up with a random name for a character Falcom didn't feel the need to find a name for. HOWEVER it is always weird that often we have really strong and amazing independent female characters and hardly ever any true damsels in distress that need saving and yet we get the girls with partners reduced to "Ys Girlfriend" or "Xs wife" like the moment you are together with a man, you are worth shit. I guess japan kinda rolls that way... but it still feels always out of place in games were woman are usually considered strong and self-sufficient.
I couldn't even remember that we were ever told about it, which is because of the fact that it happens so casually that it doesn't feel like anything worth keeping in mind. I mean... why should we care about the fact that the oasis dried up once about 20 years ago? That happened when even Rean was still small so why bother? THEN AGAIN tho, it does sound odd when you think how full the Oasis is now. But it still seems so insignificant ^^'
Oh it WAS a miracle, alright...
I think that the Devil inside him did not like for him to turn into Grendel...
So here is what we know... or actually don't know: Mare is a special Hollow-Core that despite that couldn't do shit until Agnes Genesis reacted to her wish to protect Van. With Agnes Genesis activating Mare was able to materialize and Grand Van the ability to become Grendel. And one would assume that Van and only Van can do this as no one else in the ASO has been transforming no matter how tough the situation. "Dingos" Version of Grendel in Kuro 2 kind of put a questionmark behind Van being the only one. HOWEVER he still needed some sort of "Mare replacement" (Lapis turned into some sort of Mare copy in that case) to become the Crimson Grendel. Now in Kai Rene needed nothing more than the Genesis to freely and without any Mare turn into Grendel like it was nothing. Already putting Vans transformation and Mares role in it into question, because Van has a Demon inside of him it might have made him more "fitting" for the Grendel transformation and Dingo was kinda, sorta somehow some sort of Undead or something like this which still might have made his body more "fitting" for the transformation. As far as we know, there is no such thing with Rene tho. ALSO here in this scene, we see that the Devil inside Van kind of fucks with his transformation so it seems even more unlikely that the devil inside him is the cause for him being the only one in the group being able to transform. Having Mare as some possible... I don't know... holy beast or something as a Hollow Core is also out of the question as the sole reason here, because once again, Rene does not have any of this in Kai. So... any idea why only specific people can turn into Grendel but some of them need more "help" than others to transform?
This is the scene were we get that "accidental" Flashback for in Kai in Kevins route. I feel like they didn't place it there for fun and I am pretty sure it was not just there to focus on the Van & Agnes moment either. So what was that reminder for?
The again... Mare specifically mentioned she was not responsible for that transformation in that scene. Not sure if we saw that part in the flashback tho. But if we did it could be helpful for whatever comes after Kai... because there is no more Agnes to cause Van to transform into Grendel and we might still need that transformation to get us some happy ending. So IF Vans Devil could cause a transformation himself, that could be helpful in the future. Not tho, if it causes Van that much pain tho...
Hm... still not sure about the intention behind the original scene and the reason for the flashback...
We could have seen that scene because of Risette too. I think I do remember that part was in the flashback as well. But... why? That makes even less sense in the current context of things.
Urg. Kai really doesn't answer shit...
Then again she comes from a time were we made it past 1209 and the technology there was really advanced back then. So... maybe she still somehow could be the key to things? Or this whole flashback was intended for Kevin to see to figure something out eventually with whatever he saw? Not that we know how much any of them will remember... I mean we will come back to some thing because otherwise it wouldn't make any sense. Like the blond woman in the end of Kai who took her mask of? The game made clear Marielle saw and likely also identified her, that would be worth shit if all memories were gone. So why specifically show us that? Also! That might sound unimportant and it may very well be, but the game takes the time to show you that Mint recoded Emilia kissing Crow and Rean but that one was worth shit too because she couldn't send it to anyone because of the Embargo so we never got anything out of it and with Rean seemingly not knowing about it it wasn't for him getting anxiety about certainly girls reactions to this either. So no way in hell they just mention that for fun. Ka Fai also told Rean what he needs to help fix things... that would also be worth shit if he doesn't remember it.
Speaking of which... everyone is so pissed at Lloyd because he asked for "no spoilers" from Ishmelga Rean and when shit happened that theoretically could be avoided with the information Lloyd could have gotten that moment - once again, its much more complicated then that, but that is not my point here - but look at how many people were aware of what was going to happen and also kept to themselves? Despite the water-steeling (and that will be a future problem with the 2000 loop is the last one...) Hamilton wanted Greamheart to succeed. Obviously Yun Ka Fai also knew a shitton about what was going on. So why on earth did no one even think about asking the Heroes of Zemuria for their help? Rean probably could have piloted that Excalibur way better than Emilia and his experience in Combat might have also helped (not that I wanted to see him getting killed again, mind you... but my point still stands!) obviously we could not have asked our Shady church for help, but the Bracers for example could have easily helped taking care of the monsters that came to Calvard after the space-fight started. And so on! Honestly, Lloyd might have been stupid for avoiding necessary information but at least he did not have it but not used it, like certain other people did! I mean Ka Fai knew how to deal with that thingy in space it seems but he decided to run from Rean until it was too late. Why?!
Seriously tho, I thought playing Kuro 1/Daybreak would clear some things up for me, but it just confuses me more the deeper I get into the story...
Risettes first name was obviously a direct hint to the whole "reset" thingy. Making you wonder if "Twinings" is also hinting at something. Not to mention that I am a bit wary about the fact that MARduk starts with the same letters as MARe does. I can not make head or tails of any of this tho...
I never fully got why Agnes had so many problems with Risette, even tho Elaine was always the bigger threat and many other girls are also into Van that she doesn't react to at all. What was it about Risette that bothered her so much? (Then again, Elaines biggest ick was Shizuna and everyone else was usually treated with her mature nature most of the time and all that while it never felt like Van has any kind of romantic interest in Shizuna to begin with...)
On another note: Maybe Twinings stand for two (as in TWINs) looops intervINING if you get me.
Well in any case... the treadmill and the bathtub are calling for me and then my weekend will be over already once again. What a pain...
