Sex Toys - Part 1
Summary: What are their opinions on and how do they use sex toys? Mostly just them using vibrators on afab!reader, mentions of a few other toys.
Characters: Luffy, Zoro, Sanji, Ace, Sabo, Law, Kid
Genre: pure smut
CW: NSFW // lots of toys
———
Luffy: Finds your vibrator while rooting through your things one day (privacy, what’s that?), has no idea what it is until you sheepishly explain it to him. Laughs hysterically, is so excited, immediately wants to use it on you. He’s pulling your panties off before you’ve even gotten over the embarrassment of him finding it; you won’t even make it to the bed, he’ll just pull you onto the floor and have at it (a common occurrence with this man). His new favorite thing is to tongue fuck you with a vibrator against your clit. He’s open to butt plugs and nipple clamps, but they’re not really his thing. Doesn’t like you using toys on him, though, claims a cock ring makes him feel like he’s wearing clothes (and Luffy hates wearing clothes).
Zoro: Initially opposed to the idea of toys, doesn’t really understand the point when you have two perfectly good hands. He doesn’t even really like the idea of you using a vibrator on your own (“What, do I not get you off enough?”). He eventually warms up to it, especially once he realizes he can have you hold it to your clit while you ride him or while he fucks you from behind. Ends up having so much fun with this. Always uses a vibrator on your clit if he puts his cock up your ass. Gets pretty into butt plugs, really enjoys seeing the girly pink one that’s shaped like a heart inside your ass while he fucks you from behind. If you propose nipple clamps, he'll happily pull on the chain between.
Sanji: Low key the sort of man to get jealous of a sex toy. That being said, he really enjoys watching you masturbate, and when you tease him with the idea of using a vibrator on yourself while he watches, he can’t get it out of his head and finally decides he just has to see for himself. Far too gentle of a lover to use any sort of paddles or clamps on you, and absolutely despises the idea of you using a dildo, though he wouldn’t be opposed to some handcuffs, granted they’re fur-lined if you’re going to be the one wearing them. You might be able to convince him to try out a cock ring, but only if you’re sure to inform him it will bring you pleasure, too.
Ace: He’s such a pleaser (service dom, 100%) and he worries deeply that you’ll get satisfaction elsewhere while the two of you are parted, so he buys you a very discreet vibrator necklace to wear. That way, you’ll never have to find another man in his stead (it doesn’t matter how many times you tell him it’s not necessary, he’s convinced he has to make you cum three times a day to keep you nice and satisfied, and if he’s not there to do it, he’ll make damn sure you have the tools to do it in his name). Expects you to tell him all about it when he gets back. This eventually turns into him watching you use it on yourself, and then you showing him exactly how you do it so he can take over. He won’t tease you with it, but he does fully expect you to say please and thank you.
Sabo: He’s a kinky little fucker, that’s for sure, and he has a little bit of a sadistic side. His absolute favorite toy is a remote control vibrator. He feels like God himself when he ramps the power up and watches you nearly crumple on the other side of the room, some members of the Army asking if you’re alright while Koala shoots him suspicious glances. Even when you’re alone, he is going to tease the fuck out of you, edging you so many times you threaten to break up with him if he doesn’t just let you cum already; naturally, bondage goes hand in hand with this. He also has a special paddle to spank you (though he does prefer his hand) and handcuffs, which he’ll happily allow you to use on him so long as you promise to suck his cock. Won’t turn down a vibrating cock ring.
Law: He actually starts out pretty vanilla, but gets progressively kinkier throughout your relationship, meaning the slow introduction of more and more toys. What starts as the two of you sharing stolen glances in the hallway turns into you making out in the lab and ends in you tied up on your stomach while Law holds a vibrating wand to your clit. He’s also such a spanker. You two basically never have sex without him spanking you at least once. Law has most definitely used his belt on you before. Likes a butt plug on occasion but not too into it, also enjoys metal handcuffs but will not submit to being the one in them. Also, he thought he would enjoy gagging you, but the first time he did, he quickly realized the only thing worse than you arguing with him during sex is you not arguing (brats, hit Law up).
Kid: Puts metal bracelets/anklets on you, uses his devil fruit ability to hold your limbs wherever he wants them, has most definitely used this to practice the range of his devil fruit ability by leaving you bound and naked somewhere on the ship and seeing how far away he can get with the metal remaining magnetized. When he uses a vibrator on you, it's a wand- none of that little bullet shit. Anytime he doesn’t have your nipples between his teeth, he has them in nipple clamps for sure. Definitely the type to put a collar on you if you’re willing, would prefer something that could pass as a choker necklace so you can wear it in public; would really like one with a bell. Literally down for any type of toy. But he does have times when he wants no toys at all, just the two of you, skin to skin.

Friends with benefits to lovers with Sabo
Sabo x reader, past Sabo x Koala.
*****
🎩 You and Sabo have been best friends since childhood, given the fact you both joined the Revolutionary Army as children. Your parents, a couple of high-level operatives, had been killed on a mission, and Dragon decided to take care of you from then on; this is how you meet Sabo, who had just been rescued after running away from home.
🎩 Given the fact you are the only two minors in the whole base at Baltigo island your friendship is almost a foregone conclusion, but it’s actually the losses both of you have sustained, the solitude and longing for what you have lost, that allow you to bond. Sabo no longer remembers he has two brothers, but he feels something important is missing in his life, an emptiness your friendship allows him to fill; you, on your part, devote to him all the love and affection you once held for your parents. You become each other’s safe place, confidant and supporter; even when surrounded by people you soon grow to care for and trust, you immediately look for Sabo when you enter a room, dry his tears with your fingers when he feels sad, and patch his wounds after training; and he does the same for you. You run away from the base to join him on his first mission, violating Dragon’s direct orders; Sabo beats the crap out of any man who touches you without your consent.
🎩 You have promised to be friends forever, no matter what, and you can’t imagine a reason why that situation could one day change, not even after Sabo remembers his past. You hold him in your arms as he cries for Ace, feeling guilty he didn’t get to say good-bye, and when you accompany him to Dressrosa your friend introduces you to Luffy; you are happy for him, and never fear he could love you less, or even just neglect you, because there is someone else he cares for…
🎩 … which is why you have absolutely no objection to your friend finding a girlfriend. Koala is a great person: kind, clever, brave and generous, not to mention very pretty, and the two of you become friendly when you find yourselves sharing a room in the base’s dormitories. In fact, when Sabo admits that he had developed feelings for her, you immediately take it upon yourself to arrange a date between the two of them: you take advantage of a rare moment in which none of the three of you have duties to attend to, steal two beers from the kitchen, and invite both Sabo and Koala on the roof, to enjoy the quiet and the starry sky as you share a drink. Both happily accept; you meet them on the roof, give them the beers and simply say “Enjoy your date.” before walking away, leaving a flabbergasted Koala and a blushing Sabo.
🎩 They are a couple from that day on, and while you are happy for your friend, and to leave him some alone time with his girlfriend rather than being the sort of friend who always insists to tag along, you can’t help wishing you also had someone by your side. Many operatives of the RA find it difficult to pursue a long-term relationship, given that there is little time for romanticism in your way of life, no chance of going on dates or enjoying some privacy in four- or even eight-bed rooms, and the all-present danger and enormous pressure most of you are subjected to. It isn’t unusual for operatives to resort to other types of arrangements: friendships with benefits, occasional hook-ups, no strings attached affairs - anything, to find even just an hour of peace in the arms of someone who cares for you at least a little, and feel you are not completely alone and have reason to fight another day. It isn’t ideal but most of you make do, including you, who have had your first sexual experiences with some of your comrades but, no matter how satisfying and enjoyable those have been, you can’t help wishing for more.
🎩 Sabo always says that you are a great person, and that anyone would be crazy not to want you; he even offers to return the favour and act as your wingman if you ever need one, which you appreciate, but the truth is that there is no one you are particularly interested in, neither in Baltigo nor among the other agents you occasionally meet. You could find someone to sleep with; there are at least a couple people who would be glad to accept your invitation. The matter is, you want more - not simply a lover, but a partner, someone who cares for you beyond the warmth of your body, someone who you know would look for you as soon as he steps in a crowded room, think about you while you are distant, and with whom to hope for a future together, some day there will be no need for the RA anymore.
🎩 (Sabo does and would do all of it, of course. You know he cares for you enormously, worries when you are sent on a mission, and is always ready to welcome you with a big hug when you return; you have also promised to remain friends forever, whatever the future may bring. You can’t deny he is an extremely attractive young man either, slim but strong, with expressive eyes and a nice smile. Yes, you find yourself reflecting more than once, sometimes even as you lie in bed with someone else, Sabo does have everything you look for in a partner, and since you get along so well as friends, you would probably work nicely as a couple; who knows what could happen, had you met in different circumstances…)
🎩 Sabo and Koala have been a couple for roughly eight months, and clearly happy with each other, when Dragon asks her to transfer to another base of the Army, far away from Baltigo, to carry out a year-long mission. She and Sabo -who then tells you everything; beyond the most intimate details, there is little you and your friend don’t share about your relationships- talk about it, and agree that she has to go, since their duty towards the Army, and all the people she will contribute to defend and protect, has to come first… and also that they have to separate. “We knew a long-distance relationship couldn’t work, and since we had decided to be exclusive since the beginning, opening our relationship so that we could find solace in other people while we were distant felt wrong too.” your friend sadly explains that night as you have dinner “So we decided to break up, and one day, when Koala returns from her mission, we’ll talk and, if we both want it, we’ll get back together.”
🎩 You tell him that you’re very sorry for him, and he nods in appreciation, admitting that he has had better moments, but knowing that it was the right decision to make, and that they have parted amicably, is of some comfort. He will miss Koala a lot, but he’s proud of her for having been chosen for this important mission, and knows she’ll do great things; the next year will pass quickly, you try to comfort him, and the more they miss each other, the happier they will be once she returns. Sabo smiles, and later, as you leave the mess hall, he hugs you with his arm around your shoulders, before planting a kiss on your cheek. “Thank God you’re still here, (name).” he says “I really wouldn’t know what to do without you.”
🎩 Koala leaves two days later; you, like her other friends, hug her tight and wish her good luck, while she and Sabo, who have said their goodbyes privately, simply share a smile.
🎩 You keep an eye on Sabo from then on, to make sure he is fine, eats and sleeps when he should, and that the loss of his girlfriend hasn’t distressed him more than he can handle. Thank God your friend seems to come to terms with his returned singledom relatively quickly; he takes care of himself, keeps busy with training and work, and he assures you that while he still misses Koala very much, and doesn’t feel ready to begin a new relationship, he feels alright and doesn’t regret breaking up with Koala. You make sure to be there for your friend, not wanting him to think you’re pitying him or to suffocate him with your affection -”Come on, (name), I just broke up with a girlfriend; it hurts, but it’s not the end of the world.- but letting him know, without the need for words as usual between the two of you, that you are there for him, ready to help and support in any way he could need.
🎩 You never stop to reflect on the implications of your promise until one night, soon after the end of a mission, you return to Baltigo to find a particularly despondent Sabo; today is Koala’s birthday, and he misses her more than ever. Determined to take his mind off his ex, you steal more than two beers from the kitchen and invite your friend to drink them together, not on the roof under the stars -it would be indelicate, not to mention counterproductive, since it was there and doing that that he and Koala became a couple- but on the small balcony of your room. You start discussing your recent mission, but as the empty beer cans pile up at your feet, your conversation shifts towards more private matters… specifically, your sex life, or lack thereof.
🎩 “So they were very attractive, right? And they filled me with attention and compliments, which was flattering, and they made it clear that they liked me, so I thought, I haven’t had sex in more than a year and I just survived an attack unscathed, I deserve some fun.” you recount miserably, having already told him of the RA operative, a person you had never met before, you were introduced to at the beginning of your latest mission “And then we did it, and… and it was horrible! They did nothing wrong, I think they actually tried to make me feel good, but… but I felt nothing, nothing at all. I’m so disappointed… Five minutes into it, and I couldn’t wait for it to end. What’s wrong with me, Sabo? I’ve been with people I knew and liked much less, and it was still more pleasurable than this.” Your friend assures you that there’s nothing wrong with you at all, sometimes people are simply incompatible, and while he can sympathise with your plight, he’s probably in an even worse situation… “I’m horny.” Sabo confesses, intoxication evident in the telltale flush on his face “I know she’s been away for less than a month, but Koala and I had sex almost every day, and now… I’m literally bursting. I tried doing it by myself, but it’s not enough, and I have no other choice, since even though we agreed we would be free to see other people there’s no one I am even remotely interested in. I swear, if I don’t have sex soon, and a lot of it, I’m gonna lose my mind.”
🎩 You both reflect on your misfortune for a while, sitting in companionable silence; you have drunk much more than you are used to and you know it, but nonetheless, the idea that suddenly blossoms in your mind feels like the best you’ve ever had, a brilliant solution to both your and your friend’s problem. “You could have it with me.” you suggest. “... what? Have what?” “Sex, of course. Think about it! There is no one we are closer to than each other; this has to count for something, right? I’m sure it’d be great between us, even though we don’t love each other like that. We could simply have fun, keep each other company, and when Koala returns we simply stop and go back to being friends. What’s wrong?” you ask, seeing the hesitation on Sabo’s face “Is the prospect of having sex with me so unbearable? Don’t you think I’m attractive?”
🎩 “Of course I do! (name), I think you are as beautiful on the outside as you are inside, which is saying something. But you know how complicated things can get between people who date or have sex, especially when there isn’t a stable relationship behind it; the last thing I want is there to be tension or misunderstanding between us. I can live without sex, but losing you, or knowing I made you cry? No, that I couldn’t bear it; isn’t it better if things remain like they have always been?” he points out. You understand his point of view, but, you consider, you do share a stable relationship, the longest and most affectionate of your lives, and neither of you would ever do anything to hurt the other; as long as you establish some rules, you can’t imagine a single reason why you you could come to regret this arrangement; if anything, your friendship will come out strengthened, because it will be another experience that you have shared.
🎩 “You seem so optimistic…” Sabo considers “Is actually you talking, or the beer?”, but you can see in his eyes your proposal has intrigued him, and part of him is tempted to accept. “Let me think about it for a while, alright? And you should too, once you’re sober.” You promise, and you spend a few minutes more enjoying each other’s company before returning in, swaying a bit and holding on to each other to remain upright. When he says goodbye on the door of your room, Sabo’s kiss on your cheek feels warmer than usual.
🎩 Over the next few days, as you reflect on the conversation you and your friend shared -it takes you almost forty-eight hours to sober up, and the headache and the nausea are the worst of your life- you don’t regret offering yourself to him. You still think it’s a good idea, the perfect solution to both Sabo’s sexual frustration and yours, and in any case Koala is going to come back in less than a year, right? You’re ready to bet both she and Sabo will immediately decide to get back together, so you and your friend will simply have fun and share your pleasure until he can once again focus on his girlfriend and you hopefully find someone you really care for. Non-exclusive relationships do entail the risk of the two partners discovering they want different things, but you and Sabo have been friends for so long that it’s impossible for your feelings to change; once he’s back with Koala, you’ll stop sleeping together and your relationship will turn platonic once more, like it was before.
🎩 There is no risk whatsoever; you are absolutely sure of it.
🎩 A few days pass, during which Sabo makes no mention of your proposal, even though you spend plenty of time together as usual. He has promised to give you his answer soon, so you’re not worried, and in any case, you know he’s thinking about it. It is the way you sometimes notice he’s looking at you, at your body, from across the room, as if he were wondering what you look like under your clothes; the fact he almost chokes, even though he is neither eating nor drinking, one day in the mess hall as he hears you moaning in pleasure for the delicious chocolate cake you have just tasted; the sensation of his hands lingering on your hips for a moment too long when he helps you descend from a step-ladder you had climbed onto to repair a hole in the wall. He is thinking about it, your proposal intrigues and perhaps even tempts him, and no matter how completely platonic your relationship has always been you can’t deny it, you are excited… and you have started looking at your friend differently as well, thinking things you never considered before.
🎩 And then, terrible news reached Baltigo. Two of your top operatives have been captured by the Marines, and if they are led to confess the RA’s secrets under torture, it will be the end for you all. Dragon tasks Sabo with retrieving them; you beg to be allowed to accompany him, aware of the danger he’s walking into, but your leader refuses. Sabo hugs you tight. “I’ll be back before you know it.” he says, and a moment later he has slipped from your fingers.
🎩 Danger is a natural state of being for RA operatives, and Sabo is probably stronger than anyone else in the organization after Dragon himself, not to mention that if either of you worried every time the other left for a mission, there wouldn’t be space for anything else in your life. You know he’ll risk his life, yes, but he’ll be happy and even proud to do it, to help your comrades, and because he, like you, is ready to give his life for what he believes in; you try to stay positive, which is easier said than done, hoping that he’ll be able to get away with it, like he has done a million times already. Days pass without any news of your comrades - any of them, including your blond-haired, fire-wielding best friend, until one night, at the end of a long training session, you are lying in bed -coincidentally, the only one occupied among the four in the room, since Koala’s space is yet to be occupied and the other two women are away on a short-term mission- waiting for sleep to claim you when you hear a soft, quick knock on the door.
🎩 “Yes?” “It’s Sabo. Open the door.”
🎩 You obey, your heartbeat quickening, and you and your friend share a long, silent look, both knowing what the other is thinking and feeling. “Are you alright?” you ask, since given the state he’s in, Sabo must have come to you without stopping in his own room to clean himself or rest. He nods, quietly whispering that the two people he was sent to retrieve are back, exhausted but safe, just like he is, beyond a superficial wound on his arm that he already bandaged; he has already reported to Dragon, who then sent him to bed.
🎩 You should urge him to obey, since your friend can barely stand and looks like he hasn’t slept in three days, but you don’t, rather you stand back to allow Sabo to enter, and then close the door behind him; he’s been in your room plenty of times, but this is different, tonight is different, and you both feel it without the need for words. “I’m happy you’re back; I missed you very much.” you murmur, feeling shy like you’ve never been with him, and your friend smiles, taking your face in his hand; your gazes meet once more. “Is the offer still valid?” Sabo murmurs -or at least you think he does; the pounding of your heart is almost deafening- and you can feel he’s trembling. “Of course.” you whisper, taking his hands in yours to intertwine your fingers, and then his forehead is resting against yours, only for a moment, before both of you move to allow your mouths to meet.
🎩 Your first kiss is an explosion of fireworks in your chest. It’s messy and awkward and uncoordinated, like two relatively expert dancers who pair up for the first time and struggle to keep up with each other, and there’s too much saliva and Sabo must have recently eaten something very spicy, which you’ve always found unpleasant, but it’s him, it’s you, the two of you together, and this is why it feels like magic, a bit unreal and new but in no way wrong. Quite the opposite really…
🎩 By the time you break the kiss, Sabo is holding you by the hips, the touch gentle but firm, and you’ve wrapped your arms around his neck, your fingers playing with his hair; your gazes meet once more, and you can see he’s blushing. “It was… amazing…” you murmur, and you see a smile of relief blossom on your friend’s mouth. “It was; I couldn’t stop thinking about you, about kissing you, it was driving me crazy… and I know we should stop and talk before we do anything else, but I can’t…” Your finger pressed on his lips silences him. “It’s alright.” you murmur “There will be time to talk; now I just want to feel you.”
🎩 You share a long kiss while you walk to your bed, and another as you start removing your clothes, still a bit clumsy but more and more enthusiastic as you realise how pleasant what you are doing is, and how the other person seems to appreciate it. You’ve seen Sabo shirtless a thousand times, since that is how he usually trains and you’ve often been required to patch his wounds, but tonight the sight of his naked torso is enough to take your breath away. Soon you’re sitting on the bed together, and “May I?” Sabo asks softly, reaching towards you, and you nod, and he takes care of your underclothes and you of his, and a moment later you’re kissing again, you lying on the bed and him bent over you, as you touch each other. Sabo’s mouth descends from your mouth to your throat and your chest, sweet and shy and worshipful; he murmurs that you’re beautiful and soft and that he wants you like he’s never wanted anyone before, and you know, simply know, that he’s sincere.
🎩 Sex between you is intense, slow but passionate, desire and pleasure made almost uncontrollable by the affection you share. You blush when Sabo holds your breasts in his hands and murmurs they are bigger than he imagined, and you hear him make the most delicious moans when you take him in your mouth, filling your senses with his taste and his smell. You’ve always thought he’s handsome, but you’ve never seen him so breath-takingly beautiful as he is now that he holds you in his arms, murmuring sweet words in your ear as his warm hand caresses your skin. “I want you; Sabo, I need you, I need you so much.” you confess, and you see awe in his eyes when he touches the most intimate part of you and feels how wet you are for him.
🎩 He’s gentle and careful not to cause you pain as he finally penetrates you, but the realisation that the sounds you’re making express pleasure rather than pain makes him more bold, and soon you’re moving together, his hips pressing against yours, your nails scratching his back, and the world outside the room disappears as you hold on to Sabo and pray this night never ends. You end up having sex two times; Sabo apologises for being too tired to do it a third time and you assure him that you don’t mind, that it was amazing and perfect, and that in any case you have a year to do it as many times as you want, so what’s the hurry?
🎩 Sabo laughs softly, his fingers playing with your hair. “Thank you.” he murmurs, his eyes so full of affection and gratitude it’s almost overwhelming “I am glad we got to share this; it has never been like this before, and I’d have never experienced it if you hadn’t offered.” You assure him that he’s more than welcome, and that you can’t wait to see what this new side of your friendship will lead you to. “Do you want to stay? Please?” you ask; Sabo’s happy smile is the only answer that you need, and what happens next is something neither of you has ever experienced before, with any of their previous partners: you fall asleep together, holding each other, lulled by the sound of your heartbeats.
🎩 The next morning Sabo has to wake up earlier than usual to make sure no one sees him leave your room; now that you’re both well-rested, not remaining together for the previously promised third round is the hardest thing you ever had to do. You share a kiss, quick but loving, and promise to meet later; Sabo leaves after making sure the coast is clear while you remain in bed for a little more, enjoying the warmth of his body still lingering around you. You’ve never felt so happy in your life, and you can’t wait for the two of you to have some time alone again; Koala has been gone for six weeks, which means you and Sabo have roughly ten months and a half to spend together, and you’re determined to make the best use of the time at your disposal.
🎩 That night, after you have both taken part in a meeting with Dragon and other high-level operatives, planning a series of operations for the next six months, you and Sabo take a brief walk outside to talk in peace. You both agree what happened last night was amazing, probably the best sex of your lives, and since you want to do it again -and again, and again, and again- you decide to set a few rules. Number one: either of you can say no, stop, not now, or let’s end it here whenever you want. Number two: protecting your friendship is what matters the most; if you ever feel that what you are doing could make it impossible for your relationship to return to what it was before, you’ll stop. Number three: your relationship will end once Koala and Sabo get back together, or in case you meet someone special before that happens. Number four: no one else has to know what you are doing, since neither of you wants to be the subject of gossip among your comrades.
🎩 And so it begins. You had heard someone say once that a close friendship is the best foundation on which to build a romantic relationship, and you can confidently say it is the same for a purely sexual one, because being with Sabo is unlike anything you have experienced before. He is, objectively speaking, a very good lover: relentless, generous, inventive, respectful, enough to make you forget any person you have ever been.
🎩 With so little free time available during the day and the presence of your roommates making it almost impossible to have a space to yourselves during the night, you and Sabo have to get inventive in order to keep your relationship secret, which adds to the fun and excitement of being together. Your favourite meeting places are the pantry, a tiny room where you don’t even have the space to lie on the floor but with the added bonus of a door that can be locked from the inside, and the training room, whose isolated position relative to the dormitories relieves you from having to suffocate your screams in your hand, or against Sabo’s shoulders, to stop the whole base, or the whole of Baltigo island really, from knowing what you are up to.
🎩 You remember Sabo telling you that he and Koala had sex almost every day, and you privately have to admit it’s not only for his sake that you’re determined to at least measure up to that standard, which is not an imposition, since for days, weeks even, you are literally unable to keep your hands off each other. Kisses are stolen, gifted and exchanged in a corridor every time you can spare a minute before the start of your duties for the day; hands linger, only for a moment more, on bare skin at the end of a training session; reunions at the end of a mission become the occasion for a brief, intense rapport consummated on one of your beds, both of you aware that any of your roommates could enter any moment and unable to care.
🎩 Despite having to share the relatively small spaces of the RA base with so many other people, no one seems to perceive something has changed in your relationship, mainly because your comrades are used to seeing you and Sabo together, and know how close you have always been. People occasionally ask Sabo about Koala, expressing sympathy for the end of their relationship, and an older operative offers to introduce you to an acquaintance of theirs who will stop by the island for a few days; both of you simply smile, thank your friends for their concern, and tell them that you’re fine as you are, while your hands touch under the table or your gazes, knowing and amused, meet across the room.
🎩 Until last month, until a moment before this crazy, genial idea blossomed in your half-intoxicated mind, you had thought having sex with your best friend since childhood would have felt somehow wrong, impure even, since until then you had considered Sabo the brother you never had; you couldn’t have been more wrong. You had sincerely liked and cared for some of your previous partners, but as you expected he is different, enormously so, and you both know the deep trust and affection between you and Sabo does make sex even more pleasurable, while your new shared intimacy allows you to deepen and expand your previously platonic friendship.
🎩 Like you, Sabo is open to trying more or less everything at least once, so you compensate for the little time you have to spend together making sure every rapport is unforgettable, fun and passionate. You enjoy being pressed on the bed by the warm weight of Sabo’s body, as his lips descend to kiss every inch of your skin; and you feel equal pleasure in being pulled to his lap, your legs circling his hips, as your friend makes you bounce on his cock, his strong -very much so; you knew Sabo was more vigorous than his slim built suggests, what you couldn’t imagine was how titillated would be to have him manhandle you- hands holding you by the hips as he sucks on your breasts. You feel a shiver of pride when Sabo is forced to wear a scarf to cover the hickey you have sucked on his neck, and he can’t help smiling when he’s able to coax a fourth orgasm out of you, a personal record for both, in the course of a single amplexus. Having come into possession of a visual Den Den Mushi, you take a few photographs of your naked body, which you then develop and hide in Sabo’s jacket pocket, on the day he’s meant to depart for a week-long mission; he appreciates the thought very much, makes good use of them, and then shows you, beyond any doubt, that no matter how good the pictures are, nothing compares to the real feeling of your warm skin against his. On your birthday, Sabo gifts you a very skimpy set of lingerie, which you have no idea how he obtained even though it fits you perfectly, with a few strategically-situated slits and holes that allow you to have sex while you’re still dressed.
🎩 You have sex on Dragon’s desk. Twice.
🎩 He calls, and tells, you things you never imagined you would hear. Darling, doll, my beauty, my pretty girl, you dirty girl; these are only some of the terms of endearment Sabo never tires to use while you’re together, some tender, other sexy, and some both things together. He’s never been particularly loquacious, even with the people he cares and trusts, which is why you are pleasantly surprised to discover that while having sex Sabo simply can’t stop talking. “God, you look so beautiful. What pretty sounds you make! Does it feel good, (name)? Does it feel good when I put my cock inside you? Yes, like this, I want to make you moan loud enough for the whole base to hear… Mmh, you’re so wet for me, I know you like it when I do this…”
🎩 You and Sabo still consider each other your best friend. You spend as much time together as you did before, train together, sit together in the mess hall, talk and joke as usual, without any awkwardness or tension. You know the affection you have held for each other since you were children hasn’t changed, and that while you’ll miss having what is without a doubt the best sex of your life -and how disappointed you are, knowing you only have a few months left to enjoy it!- you know your and Sabo’s friendship will easily return to what it was before, a purely platonic and perfectly satisfying feeling, once he and Koala get back together.
🎩 At least this is what you keep telling yourself.
🎩 Once, as you catch your breath together after Sabo fucked you senselessly against the wall of the training room, you ask him what is better, sex with you or with Koala; Sabo looks at you, startled, and at first he doesn’t seem to know how to answer. “Do you really want to know?” he asks you back in the end, and you, already regretting your curiosity and fearing the answer won’t be to your liking, hurry to shake your head in response. You avoid returning on the subject, but later, as you reflect on it at the end of a training session, you decide that yes, you really want to know whether Sabo prefers having sex with you or with his -currently former, soon to be once again- girlfriend. It’s a matter of personal pride, since while you don’t dislike Koala, quite the opposite, what woman would enjoy knowing she is less desirable than another? It shouldn’t matter so much, not when your arrangement is nothing more than that, a pact you and your friend have made to find relief from sexual frustration, but it does, it matters, even though it takes you a while to understand exactly why.
🎩 Sabo never talks about Koala when you’re together, not even while you’re simply eating sitting face to face, fighting in the training room, or enjoying the cool of the evening on the roof with a single beer to share; out of tactfulness, no doubt, because he doesn’t want you to think he’s still thinking about her, maybe even looking forward to her return. There would be nothing wrong with it, you tell yourself firmly, since you know well how much he loves her, and in any case, feeling jealous of one’s friend with benefits would be absolutely ridiculous. You should stop brooding over it, you decide before finally drifting to sleep, and enjoy your time with Sabo while it lasts.
🎩 Your good intentions last no more than a few days. You and Sabo have met in the training room once again, and are making love with you sitting on his lap, his lips burning as they kiss every inch of your body they can reach. It’s perfect -it rarely isn’t, when it’s you and him- Sabo is being as sweet and attentive as usual as he murmurs how beautiful you are and how good you’re making him feel, kisses you deeply and, as he always does, makes sure you have come at least twice before finding his relief between your thighs. Pleasantly sore, you hold him against you as you pet his hair and Sabo happily nuzzles against the side of your neck. “You are gorgeous, doll.” he murmurs, and you freeze.
🎩 Doll. This is one of his favourite pet names, which you usually like, even though right now it troubles you. Did he ever call you by your name, tonight?, you start asking yourself, and how often has he done it since you started sleeping together? Does he use those terms of endearment out of affection, or is there another, more hidden, reason? Maybe… that he wants to make sure he doesn’t say the wrong name? Also, you did notice that often he keeps his eyes closed as he comes, or hides his face in the crook of your neck, as if he wanted to avoid looking at you… as if he wanted to maintain the illusion it’s another woman he’s having sex with.
🎩 You are getting anxious over nothing, the more rational part of you knows it well, and your doubts have a perfectly rational explanation, but you can’t think rationally, and suddenly you’re tense, afraid even, in a moment when you normally should feel at your most relaxed, satisfied and happy in the arms of a man who has given you more than anyone else ever could. Broaching the subject now is probably the stupidest thing you could ever do, because it’s sure to upset Sabo and cause a fight between the two of you, but you can’t help it, because you’re afraid, afraid that everything you’ve done together, all the intimacy and pleasure you have shared, never existed, because the woman Sabo wished he had in his arms isn’t you…
🎩 You haven’t uttered a word, brooding over the matter as you played with Sabo’s hair and kissed his cheeks, as usual in moments like this, but he knows you better than you know yourself -even though, it will turn out, not as well as he thinks he knows you- which is why he easily perceives something is troubling you. “What’s wrong?” “Nothing!” “(name), I can feel you are tense. What’s wrong? Wasn’t it good?” You assure him it was more than good, as usual, but you were just wondering, and it’s perfectly alright either way, but… “When we make love…” it’s the first time you call it that “... is it me you think about? Or Koala?”
🎩 As you feared, you see hurt fill Sabo’s eyes; hurt, and disbelief, as he lets his hands fall from your hips. “What? How can you ask me that? Why do you keep thinking about her while we are together?” he asks, and you apologise, because you really shouldn’t have, just like, you privately add, you shouldn’t let the matter upset and sadden you, but it’s already too late for that “After all that is why we’re doing it, right? Because you missed Koala, and needed to… unburden. It’s fine, it’s not like we are… a couple or anything, there’s nothing wrong, I shouldn’t let this affect me… I’m sorry, I don’t know why I’m doing this…”
🎩 Sabo looks at you, half hurt, half worried, and completely incredulous. “Do you really think I could do that? Think about her - think about someone else when I’m with you? (name), what sort of man do you think I am? Haven’t I shown you how much you mean to me?” “Of course you did! But I know how much you care for Koala, and it would be perfectly understandable if you…” “Is this what all of this means to you? Just empty sex? I can’t believe it!” Sabo exclaims; you end up arguing for a while, both angry and secretly guilty, and in the end you part to spend the rest of the day apart.
🎩 You sleep badly that night, and spend hours staring at the ceiling of your room, calling yourself stupid and childish and cruel; the fact that Sabo wasn’t thinking about another woman while he was with you should make you happy, and it does, but at the same time you’re still worried, and afraid, because no one feels jealous of a friend with benefits, nor has the right to demand loyalty like they would from a partner. You didn’t mean to accuse Sabo of disloyalty, but you have to admit that the thought of Koala, a woman you sincerely like and consider a friend, has become a source of frustration, even of regret, even though you and Sabo would have never mad-had sex if it hadn’t been for the two of them dating.
🎩 You have no reason, and no right, to feel upset, or least of all jealous, that Sabo’s feelings for his ex-girlfriend didn’t suddenly disappear the moment he started sleeping with you; even someone with as little experience in romance as you knows that is not how it works. You know that Sabo still considers you his dearest friend, that he feels pleasure when you’re together, and that he’s not merely using you to forget another woman; but then, you can’t stop asking yourself, why does it hurt so much? Why can some part of you not stop wishing his feelings for Koala changed, and he decided he’d rather remain her friend rather than getting back together once she’s back?
🎩 Because that is what worries - no, what scares you the most; that one day, in a few months, Koala will return, she and Sabo will resume their relationship, and you’ll be relegated to the side once again - a thought that feels unbearable, even though Sabo never neglected you after he and his girlfriend started dating. The three of you had naturally found a balance, friendship and romance each having its own space without jealousy or recrimination, and there’s no reason to think you could not go back to it once Koala will have returned. It’s just… that you don’t want to. Sabo’s friendship is the most important thing in your life, something you’d defend with your life if needed, but knowing that he’ll be doing with someone else what you are now sharing… this breaks your heart. And for all of this, for this mess that has led you to fight with Sabo for the first time since you were twelve, you have only yourself to blame.
🎩 The next morning you look for Sabo in the mess hall, but you’re told that he came earlier than usual, ate quickly and left, without waiting for you as you usually do. If he thinks he can avoid you Sabo clearly doesn’t know you as well as you thought he did, and a few hours later, having made sure he’s not busy with something important, you corner him and insist you have to talk, which your friend agrees with a sigh. You both apologise for what you said yesterday; Sabo assures you that while you did start having sex because neither of you could find a more desirable partner -”Neither of us, remember? you were as frustrated as I was.”- he could never think about someone else, not even his ex-girlfriend, while he’s with you, because what you share is too precious and special, and he feels pleasure because you are the one giving it to him.
🎩 While reassured, you still think the situation is different, because you didn’t have a partner Sabo might be jealous of, but while your friend suggests you conclude your arrangement, because as you had agreed when deciding on your rules not even the best sex in the world is worth the two of you fighting and he’d gladly remain celibate for the next decade rather than cause you pain, you hurry to reassure him you are fine, it was stupid of you to worry and you’d happily go on like you have done until now. You manage to reassure Sabo, who kisses you deeply and proposes to meet tonight, and you enthusiastically accept, joy and relief filling your heart.
🎩 You haven’t told Sabo what led you to suspect he was thinking about Koala while he was with you, but you do notice that from then on, he does start looking you deeply in the eyes as he comes, and using your name as well as the various pet-names. Maybe he always did and fear and anxiety simply forbade you from thinking clearly, maybe your friend is actively trying to reassure you; whatever the reason you are happier and more grateful than ever that you get to live this, with him, and that night in the training room, you hold on to Sabo’s warm and solid body for dear life, determined to enjoy every second of your time together as if it were the last of your life.
🎩 Weeks pass, and things are going great between you and Sabo. A while ago a few new operatives have joined your base, among which a very attractive man named Tomo you quickly become friendly with; even Sabo approves of him, even though, he says, “I’m pretty sure he’s into you.” You disagree, pointing out that Tomo has never expressed any interest in you, but you are forced to admit you were wrong when, only a few days later, while the two of you are leaving the mess hall together, Tomo cups your face in his hands and kisses you deeply. It’s a very nice first kiss, the right balance between gentle and passionate, and it leaves you pleasantly dizzy, but you are too shocked to enjoy it properly, not to mention you feel vaguely guilty. Tomo apologises for having caught you off guard, admits he’s more than a little interested in you, and proposes that you spend some time together. “You don’t have anyone at the moment, do you?” he asks, and you find yourself hesitating for a moment before shaking your head in response, and ask for a bit of time to think about it.
🎩 You do what you have always done in times of doubt: you talk to Sabo asking for his opinion and advice. Your friend doesn’t seem particularly happy to discover he was right about Tomo’s interest in you. “What do you want to do?” he asks, and you, while vaguely nervous about the risk of causing another quarrel, answer truthfully, telling him that you do like Tomo, and would be happy to spend some time in his company, but given the fact you have been sleeping together for months now, you thought it necessary to ask for his opinion, in order not to create tension between you. “I mean.” you stammer, praying that the blush you feel creeping up your cheeks is hidden by the soft lights in the room “I know we are not… a couple or anything, and that we agreed I would be free to see someone else if I found a person I cared for, but I thought… we never talked about being exclusive, so…”
🎩 The few seconds Sabo takes to answer are the longest in your life; you warn yourself not to get your hopes up, because while you did the right thing sharing Tomo’s offer with him, Sabo knows he has no right to be jealous of you, and would most likely not be so in the first place; why should he? You are not dating, and while even a purely sexual relationship can be exclusive, he had to expect you’d get interested in someone else sooner or later.
🎩 Part of you still wishes he were; that he was jealous of you, at least a little bit. It’s childish, and unfair, and even cruel, to wish someone you love to suffer because of you, but you can’t help it, because no matter how happy and flattered you are that someone else has expressed an interest in you, and well aware of the relative non-binding nature of your and Sabo’s relationship, you do wish the thought of you and another person together caused him some distress, because that would mean that he cares…
🎩 “I have nothing against it. Thank you for telling me, (name), but it’s perfectly fine if you spend time with Tomo. Do you want me to step aside while you see him? It’s fine by me either way.” Sabo says, which is more or less the reaction you had to expect, and the exact opposite of what you wished for; disappointed, and even a tiny bit heartbroken, you force yourself to smile and thank your friend for his advice.
🎩 You are not particularly enthusiastic about the prospect of meeting your new suitor, but Tomo, to his credit, does manage to make you smile again. You meet that night outside, and he has prepared a small picnic for the two of you: a blanket, a bottle of saké and some snacks he has prepared personally, all of it to create a pleasant, romantic atmosphere for the two of you. No one has ever done anything like this for you, and it really warms your heart; you spend some time eating, and drinking, and talking about yourself, the past that has led you to join the RA, and your dreams and aspirations for the future. Tomo is funny, clever and kind as well as handsome; this time you’re the one to take the initiative and kiss him, and a couple minutes later the remains of your picnic have been pushed aside to make space on the blanket for your clasped bodies.
🎩 It feels nice; very nice, in fact, and you’re happy, and excited, when you and Tomo start undressing each other, and he’s sweet and attentive and passionate, and soon you’re having sex, him holding you close as he moves above and inside you, his kisses swallowing your moans of pleasure. The whole experience is more than pleasurable, both the sex itself and the time before that, that the two of you spent getting to know each other better. You do like Tomo, and would gladly see him again - in fact, you’d be ready to ask him yourself, if not for a small but crucial detail…
🎩 … that you did what you only recently accused Sabo of doing: you had sex with a person, thinking about someone else.
🎩 The conversation you are forced to have with Tomo is the hardest of your life, and it fills you with shame, because the poor guy had perceived you have enjoyed his company, and felt confident you would accept to see him again; even worse, you’re not even able to tell him the reason for your refusal, vaguely stammering something about not feeling ready and having a past lover who you can’t forget. You part amicably, all things considered, but Tomo is clearly deeply saddened by your refusal, which fills you with guilt.
🎩 Your first instinct as you return inside is to look for Sabo, but once you reach the door of his room you stop, suddenly aware of your own foolishness. Given the hour your friend is most likely sleeping, and no matter how close the two of you are it’s unlikely he would appreciate being woken up to listen to your plights, especially since you would never dare to tell him the real reason why you decided not to see Tomo again. No, it’s better if you go to bed, sleep on it, and then simply tell Sabo you decided you and your suitor are not compatible…
🎩 “(name)? What are you doing here at this time? Is everything alright?” Sabo asks, seeing you in front of his room on his way back from the bathroom; then he sees your face, and immediately gets alarmed. “What happened? Is it Tomo? Did he do something to you? I swear I’ll kill him!” he says, holding your shoulders in his hands, and you shake your head; his anger warms your heart, but at the same time you barely have the strength to meet his eyes, irrationally afraid that he might perceive what you did, and that it was his face, his smile and the way he has to say your name, that you thought about as you had sex with another man. He would not get mad, nor would he accuse you of hypocrisy, even though he’d have reason to; Sabo is above such vileness, but you can’t tell him, because you dare not think about how he would react…
🎩 “I’m fine, don’t worry, and Tomo has no fault. We… we did have sex, and he was fantastic, he was so sweet, but… but I don’t think I’ll see him again; in fact, I told him already I plan not to.” Sabo sighs - with what you perceive as exasperation, which is something relief can be easily mistaken for. “I see.” “It makes no sense, I know; but I couldn’t do otherwise, and now I feel so stupid…” You sigh. “I’m sorry, I know you want to go back to bed, but… could you hug me? Just for a moment?”
🎩 He obliges, naturally, and as usual, the warmth and safety of Sabo’s embrace is enough to drown all your pain and shame; you cling to his arms as his fingers run gently through your hair, and wish you could spend the rest of your life like this.
🎩 Two days later, you and Sabo are eating in the mess hall. “I was thinking, and you’re free to say no…” your friend begins, his tone low to keep your conversation private, his eyes trained on his plate “Our… thing. I know we decided we would stop when she returns or you meet someone else, but would you be alright with being exclusive while it lasts?” “Yes, alright.” “It’s fine if you want to think about… What?” “I said it’s fine, Sabo.” you confirm with a smile, joy bubbling in your heart “To be honest, I wanted to ask you the same. Will you pass the water, please?”
🎩 You have always had the bad habit of making things more difficult than they are; but sometimes, things are easy, and one only needs the courage to see it.
🎩 Time passes; beyond the occasional quarrel or misunderstanding your relationship is going great, both on the side of friendship, which is more solid than ever, and the one that concerns the benefits. Sex with Sabo really is the best of your life, to the point that you know you’ll miss it terribly. Part of you even fantasizes about asking Koala’s permission to keep sleeping with Sabo while the two of them date; she would no doubt find it unacceptable, and he would as well, no matter how pleasant your arrangement has been.
🎩 Still, you dearly wish you didn’t have to give up on it; less than two months remain until Koala is due to return from her mission, and you find yourself counting the days with the anxiety of a student who is not ready to take a quickly approaching exam. You are confident that your friendship with Sabo will return to what it was before, and you feel grateful and blessed for it, but if you think about him and Koala together once again, enjoying the sort of affection he now shares with you… it’s unbearable. You have no right to complain, since all of this was your idea and Sabo did warn you either of you might end up suffering for it, and you don’t mean to. You don’t regret any of it, not a single moment of what you and your friend have shared in these months, and that is exactly why you wish it didn’t have to end.
🎩 It’s not just the great sex you dread having to give up; it would be much easier if that were the case. The truth is, sharing your body with Sabo has opened your relationship to an intimacy and level of emotion you had never experienced before. It’s something precious, special, delicate but addictive, that you doubt you could experience again with another person… while Sabo certainly will, and maybe he already has, with Koala, and it’s this -the thought of losing him and suffering for it, potentially for the rest of your life, while he quickly finds a more than worthy replacement- that makes it so hard to accept the fact that your arrangement with Sabo is soon coming to an end.
🎩 This time Sabo doesn’t seem to realise you are worried and upset, which is a relief since you have already given him enough troubles to last for a lifetime, and you did agree to keep the truth about your new relationship secret, but you do need to confide in someone and ask for advice; fortunately, the wisest, kindest person you have ever met has recently come to Baltigo from her own island for a meeting with Dragon and the other RA commanders, and is happy to find a moment to talk to you.
🎩 You and Ivankov have long been close; in fact, it was him who took care of you in the immediate aftermath of your parents’ death, making sure you were fed, comforted, and kept safe. You trust him more than anyone else besides Sabo, and he’s the only person you could ask for advice. You meet in the mess hall late at night, once most of your comrades have gone to bed, and Iva listens to your story intently; you tell him everything, even the most personal and embarrassing details, and admit that the problem doesn’t really exist, since you can’t stop Koala from returning home at the end of her mission nor would you ever ask Sabo not to pursue a relationship with her once again. “It’s just that I feel terrible, Iva, and I don’t know why.” you admit miserably, almost slumped over the table “I don’t want to lose what Sabo and I have now, but I have no other choice, do I? I’ll always be happy with being his friend, but I’m afraid I will regret losing him for the rest of my life. I really don’t know what is happening to me…”
🎩 Iva sighs, looking at you with eyes full of compassion. “I think what you’re feeling is very clear, (name)-girl.” he says gently “I think you’ve fallen in love with Sabo-boy.” “WHAT?!” you exclaim, stunned, and Iva points out that would explain everything: your relationship with Sabo was already incredibly close to begin with, and the pleasure and intimacy you have shared in the last months have changed your feelings from pure, platonic friendship to something different. “That’s why the thought of seeing him and Koala-girl together hurts so much; because you’d want to be in her place, and know Sabo loves you back; and loving someone whose affection is directed towards someone else is a pain I would not wish on my worst enemy, no matter how close you and Sabo could go back to be as friends.”
🎩 Love. Is this what you feel? Part of you can’t believe it; you’ve thought Sabo is handsome for half your life without doubting your feelings were different from pure friendship, and you’re not naive and romantic to the point of thinking good, even exceptional sex, can make a person fall in love with another. You’re not in love with Sabo, for God’s sake! It’s just that something beautiful and special has developed between the two of you and you don’t want to lose it, no matter how equally precious your friendship was to begin with! And yes, you can’t deny you occasionally fantasise about being in Koala’s stead, and about a relationship that hadn’t been born with an expiration date, and hearing him propose you become exclusive made you happy, because it meant that he did care about you, beyond friendship, beyond pleasure and convenience, that he wanted to be with you because of you…
🎩 Crap. You are in love with him!
🎩 “There, there, it’s alright.” Iva gently soothes you, patting your back “Just breathe, (name)-girl. It’s not the end of the world, even if it looks like it.” It really does. “It’s over, Iva; what do I do?” you miserably ask your friend “He doesn’t love me, and he never will.” “You don’t know it.” “Of course I do; he loves Koala, and he’s been waiting for her for almost a year. I know he cares for me, we are best friends, and we’ve had some great sex for months, but what we share is just relief because she was away and I couldn’t find anyone. The moment Koala returns, Sabo will want her and no one else.” Iva, who has already met Sabo after his arrival in Baltigo, looks at you skeptically, and then suggests you discuss the matter with Sabo himself.
🎩 “Why should I? It would serve only to create awkwardness between us, and I know Sabo enough to know he’ll probably try to distance himself from me in order to spare me pain, and so I’ll lose his friendship as well.” you point out “I don’t want that, nor do I want to spend the rest of my life hoping he and Koala break up so that I can… step forward. I need to keep this thing for myself, and be happy for what we had, and the friendship we still share; please, Iva, promise me you won’t tell him anything.” Your friend promises, clearly unconvinced of the justness of your decision, and asks you to call him, or write, whenever you feel the need to talk. You promise, and the two of you share a hug.
🎩 You remember the exact date of Koala’s departure, and soon its first anniversary is exactly four days away. “I bet you are counting the hours.” you comment one night as you and Sabo lie together in your bed, courtesy of the absence of your two roommates, both of whom have volunteered for a mission and won’t be back before tomorrow. You are curled up against his side, your hand playing with the soft hair of his chest, his legs intertwined with yours. Sabo, who despite his more than considerable stamina is completely out of breath -something you can’t help being proud of!- blinks, as if he had no idea what you’re talking about. “Sorry?” “About Koala’s return! It’s soon, isn’t it? Have you been told the exact day? We should organise a little celebration for her.”
🎩 And you really want to, because you do like Koala, and you don’t want to ruin what has until now been a good friendship; seeing her and Sabo together will break your heart, but at least you know he’s happy with his girlfriend. You’re determined to be positive, and be content with what you have. “Sabo? I said…” “Yeah, I heard you; it’s a good idea, but I don’t know when she’ll return exactly.” “Shouldn’t you ask Dragon?” “I will.” He doesn’t seem particularly enthusiastic, you think, rather his expression betrays tension, even guilt, to the point he can barely meet your eyes. But why? Does he fear his girlfriend will disapprove of the two of you sleeping together while she was away? It makes no sense, since the two of them had broken up and agreed they would be free to see other people. What then? Well, a year is a long time to spend apart when a couple has been together for less than that; maybe Sabo fears he and Koala won’t be able to simply pick up where they left off. What - oh God, what if Koala has met someone else? What if they decide not to…?
🎩 Stop. Don’t get your hopes up, (name); the higher you try to fly, the harder your fall will be, you tell yourself; it’s something your mother used to say. “Is everything alright? You know that whatever worries you, whatever you fear, you can tell me.” you murmur, taking Sabo’s face in your hands to force him to meet your eyes, and he nods, his eyes full of emotion. He doesn’t speak, but he takes advantage of the proximity to kiss you, hard, and you spend the rest of the night making love as if this were the last of your lives; you hold Sabo in your arms, not demanding to know what worries him, but making sure he understands that whatever he’s going through, he doesn’t have to face it alone.
🎩 You do love him. The feeling has been growing slowly inside you, and maybe you would have never realised it if not with Iva’s help, but now you know it’s true, and whatever happens you don’t regret having fallen for him, or having pursued a sexual relationship with him and then having to stop. You know Sabo will forever want to be your friend, and this is enough. You just want to be with him; nothing else matters.
🎩 The next day you meet Dragon outside the mess hall, and ask him if he knows when Koala will be back, explaining that you’d like to organise a celebration for her return, and your leader looks at you strangely. “Koala has decided to remain at her current base indefinitely; she has been doing a great job, and the commander has asked her to stay.” he explains “I told Sabo almost a month ago, I thought he would have informed you.”
🎩 He hasn’t.
🎩 You make sure not to meet Sabo for the rest of the day, including your now daily sessions in the training room late at night; you don't want him to worry, but the truth is you really need a little time to reflect on the recent revelation. Koala will not be returning to Baltigo, and Sabo knew already; he has avoided telling you for a whole month, and while you think you can understand why, you’re not sure whether what you’re thinking is rational reasoning or simple wishful thinking, and this scares you. You might ask for Iva’s advice, or simply remain silent and wait for Sabo to decide what to do; or you could act, speak up and tackle the matter directly. You could be sincere, like you and your friend have always promised to be with each other, and tell him exactly what you feel and think.
🎩 Which is why in the afternoon you go to him and tell him that you have arranged for someone else to cover his duty for the rest of the day; Sabo blinks, nonplussed. “Why would you do something like that?” “Because we need to talk, Sabo, and I think you know about what; come on, we need to leave before Dragon sees us and finds something else for us to do.” Your friend follows you, his expression an odd mix of resignation and relief; you find a quiet corner to talk outside. “You know, right?” “If you’re talking about Koala deciding not to return, I do. Sabo… why didn’t you tell me? For a whole month?” you ask, and your friend sighs, taking your hands in his. “Do you really not know?” he asks quietly, and you, suddenly unsure, admit that you have your suspicions, but it feels presumptuous to even just hope they are true.
🎩 “I thought… that it had to do with me; with us. That since we had agreed we’d continue to sleep together until Koala returned, the fact that she plans not to do so could mean that we can go on doing it indefinitely, should we both want it.” you explain, suddenly fearing you did get your hopes up for nothing; after all the fact that Sabo preferred not to lose his friend with benefits doesn’t necessarily mean he shares your feelings “You could have told me; you know I enjoy our time together, it… it wouldn’t have been an imposition.”
🎩 Sabo admits he was wrong to keep the truth from you… and that the possibility of you deciding to stop sleeping with him was only half the reason why he did it. “It’s just… well, I have cared for Koala very much, I missed her a lot and I’m still incredibly fond of her; but I have come to the conclusion that what I felt for her wasn’t love. I got to speak to her over the Den Den Mushi a month ago, and we agreed it was better for us to break up. She’s fine, I actually think she has met someone else; I don’t regret dating her, at all, but remaining together would have only made both miserable.” You nod, understanding his reasoning, determined to express what you feel but not knowing how. “I think you both did the right thing, and I would have never come between you, but I have to confess… recently I have found myself feeling jealous of Koala; of her… role in your life. You know how important our friendship is for me, and how great sex is between us, but… but I can’t help wanting something different; not something more, I would be more than happy either way, and I know you might never see me as anything other than a friend, but…”
🎩 You stammer, not knowing how to conclude, but Sabo wordlessly opens his arms towards you, and a moment later you are embracing; he kisses your forehead. “You know I said I had realised what I felt for Koala wasn’t love? It was thanks to you that I understood that.” he murmurs “And I still want to be your friend, and to sleep with you; but knowing that we belong to each other would really be the best thing ever.”
🎩 No other words are necessary; you and Sabo hug each other tight, he kisses your tears, murmuring words in your ears you never dared to think you would one day get to hear, and you tell him how happy you are, happy to have him in your life, and to know that once again, you have chosen each other.

Under the Microscope, Part 5 (Yandere Sabo x Reader)
on Ao3
All the other chapters
You meet Ace over dinner. Sabo makes a snail call.
You didn’t react when Sabo mentioned Ace’s name, just continued trudging behind him. Interesting, even before his execution, Ace's name brought a certain amount of curiosity and notoriety. You were trying to take in information about the island as you walked along the path to the house. There was no point, it was a small uncharted island in the middle of nowhere, no one could find it without a permanent log pose. It was an autumn island but was currently in its spring season. Sabo liked the island a lot and had been enjoying the little time he was able to spend on it. If Sabo hadn’t had to leave all the time for missions, he would have loved to spend his time on the island. It had a natural waterfall and small freshwater lagoon, some wildlife, and a lot of shady trees and vegetation. You were looking at some of the wildflowers that had grown along the side of the beaten path to the house. You raised your hands as if to magnify a purple flower but stopped yourself, finally noticing that Sabo was watching you.
"It's a little chilly out, would you like my jacket?" Sabo suggested. You shook your head to decline his offer.
“What were you doing about a year and a half ago?” Sabo asked you. You scrunched your little nose in thought, eyebrows drawn.
“Working,” you replied quietly, not giving any further detail. Ah, you were wary of him now that you felt better and were on land. It was a reasonable reaction to have, Sabo didn’t mind. You didn’t see the bigger picture, didn't understand the plans Sabo had for you. Anyone would be upset by a drastic change, especially one they didn’t plan themselves.
The island was a perfect place for you to stay for the time being. You would be safe, unable to be tracked by the Marines. Sabo knew they would try to find you, bring you back to their base, and he couldn’t let that happen. As a bonus, there was no one else to talk to on the island besides him and his brother. You would get over your fear and nervousness of him if you had no one else to interact with. If he’d taken you back to the RA headquarters, he knew you’d be a companion to Koala, make friends with Betty and Lindbergh, and he just knew Iva would love you. So for now you needed to stay isolated with them on the island. They’d all get to know you in a few months when Sabo brought you to Momoiro. He knew you were lonely, you’d gravitate to him and Ace sooner or later. Sabo knew Ace would like you, he just had to get over some of his…issues. Sabo planned to keep you here until you’d accepted your situation - and him.
“Are you familiar with Marineford?” Sabo asked.
“Um, the new one or the old one? I know the old one was destroyed and Whitebeard and Gol D. Roger’s son were killed there but I never caught up completely on the news.” You started wringing your hands, Sabo noticed, as if you were worried about being caught. “I was supposed to but I had a lot to do and I was busy -”
“Researching,” Sabo said, finishing your sentence for you. Your face soured, but Sabo wasn’t making fun of you, you were as dedicated to your field as he was to his own. Making your way to the little house Sabo shared with Ace, he held open the unlocked door for you. It was dark inside, all the curtains drawn, the air musty and stale. Ah, Ace must be stewing again. At least it was warm inside, you were only wearing Sabo’s old tunic.
“Ace, c’mere, there’s someone I want you to meet,” he called out into the darkness. Sabo moved towards the curtains and you moved along with him. You looked like you were scared that someone was going to pop out of the shadows. Sabo slowed down so you’d bump into him while you looked around. It was foolish, but he relished any contact he could have with you. “Aaaaaaace,” Sabo called out in a sing-song voice, “where aaaaaaare youuuuu?” Sabo opened one of the curtains, sunlight now pouring into the room. You yelped as you saw Ace, slouching on the couch, arms folded and frowning, staring silently at you. You bumped back into Sabo again, this time he reached out and held your upper arm for ‘support.’
“Ace, stop moping for a few minutes. We have a guest.” Sabo stood behind you, almost presenting you to his brother. Ace glared at you, still silent. “Oh, don’t be mad. It’s time you saw someone other than me,” Sabo said, rolling his eyes. Ace leaned forward, stood up, and left the house, slamming the door behind him, making you jump again. “Don’t worry, he’ll be back when he gets hungry,” Sabo said, patting your shoulder.
Your POV
You weren’t worried whether Sabo’s brother would be back or not. He scared the shit out of you, sitting there in the darkness, staring at you. He didn’t bear a lot of physical resemblance to Sabo, but the staring reminded you of Sabo. Ace had long, wavy black hair, reaching past his shoulder blades. It looked unkempt, like he hadn’t brushed it in a long time. He was wearing a Wano style yukata, with no shirt underneath. He had a lot of bandages over his chest, nearly the entire area was covered.
“Ace has been having a…rough time,” Sabo hedged. “But he’s actually really nice. You’ll like him, he’s like me in a lot of ways.” You weren’t sure you liked Sabo , much less Ace, but you didn’t voice that thought out loud. You appreciated Sabo’s kindness when you were ill, but you’d been fine without his help, and you definitely didn’t want to be kidnapped. If your meeting with Sakazuki had gone well, you were expecting a promotion and transfer to another base. But now you weren’t sure you’d ever see anyone besides Sabo and his brother ever again.
Sabo opened more of the curtains and windows, letting in the fresh air. “Much better,” he said to himself. Turning to you, he clapped his hands together with a smile. “Let’s give you a tour of the house, yes?” Sabo led you through the house, starting with the living room. The living room, kitchen, Sabo’s office and a bathroom were all on the first floor while closets, another bathroom, and the two bedrooms were on the second. It was clear people were living there, but there was something missing. The house wasn’t decorated at all, no photos, no art, nothing to make it a home. It felt like a hospital room, it had the basic necessities but nothing personal.
“You’re welcome in any unlocked room of the house, you live here now. That room,” he said, pointing to a closed door, “is Ace’s.” It looked like the door had been kicked and stabbed a few times. “This one,” Sabo gestured to another door on the right, “is ours.”
“W-what do you mean ours ?” you stammered, suddenly uncomfortable. You knew you were wearing Sabo’s clothes on Sabo’s island, but you hadn’t thought he would be so…forward. You were abruptly reminded of the differences in your heights, weights, and fighting abilities. You took a step back, but Sabo took one forward, keeping you near him.
“Our room,” Sabo said slowly, as if you were confused about the meaning of his words. “We were already sharing a room on the ship and I thought it worked out well. Besides, there aren’t any more rooms or any other houses on the island. I’m not saying we have to share the same bed, ” Sabo said, rolling his eyes. You hadn’t given much thought to where Sabo had been sleeping on the ship, but you supposed you’d been sharing a room in some way.
“Oh, um, ok. I can, um, sleep on the floor. I don’t mind,” you offered. Sabo balked at your statement.
“We’ll figure it out later,” he said dismissively. Something told you that you wouldn’t be sleeping on the floor. “Now, let’s get some food going. I’m worried about you after that trip. We need to get you healthier, starting with proper nutrition.” Sabo was so serious at that moment, like he was considering all the ways he could help you feel better. He did also cause some of your problems, but you didn’t think he wanted to hear that.
Sabo brought you to the small kitchen and guided you to the chairs. The kitchen had bar style seating overlooking the main cooking area, complete with barstools. Sabo opened cabinets and drawers, taking stock of the food that was left. Earlier, when Sabo took off your blindfold, you saw that there were crates being unloaded as well, so you knew there would be more food. You hoped Sabo was a good cook, it wasn’t really your forte. You could make a few dishes very well, but were content to eat whatever the mess hall cooked. You found cooking boring and didn’t like spending your time on it. Sabo had his back turned to you, filling a pitcher of water from a barrel. He set it in front of you, along with a cup.
“Here, sit and drink some water. I’ll cook.” You sat at his command, watching him in silence. Sabo started removing some of his layers in preparation for cooking, putting his jacket on the back of the chair next to you. He didn’t take off his gloves, though, even after rolling up his sleeves to cook. Sabo took off his top hat, looking for a place to put it. He reached over, and put it on your head with an unblinking stare and a smile. You paused mid-sip, unsure what to do. You felt like a wild animal that had been sighted by a hunter. You reached up and took the hat off your head, placing it on the counter next to you. Sabo gave a nervous laugh.
“Sorry, I was just trying to be silly. Looks good on you, though.” Sabo brushed off the strange interaction and started pulling out ingredients from the cabinets. He was talking to you, almost monologuing, as you sipped your water and listened, hands shaking slightly. You were feeling unprotected and exposed, fully at the mercy of the Chief of Staff of the Revolutionary Army. Sabo didn’t notice, and kept up the one sided conversation while preparing what looked like stew. As he prepared the food, your mouth watered. Sabo may have kidnapped you and brought you to a secluded island, but he could make a delicious smelling stew.
“-found this island by accident, and I ended up living here over the past year. It’s quaint and out of the way, which I like. I actually prefer spring islands, but this one is nice too. Ace has also been here for about a year, recovering. We’re not actually -”
The door banged open, making you startle again. You were getting tired of Ace scaring you, it made you even more anxious than you already were. You had to put down the cup you’d been holding your hands were so unsteady. Ace stalked over to the counter, sitting at the next bar stool. He moved Sabo’s hat from in front of his seat to the couch rather delicately, you noticed. He frowned at you but didn’t say anything.
“Welcome back, Ace. Want some food?” Sabo ladeled some incredible smelling stew over rice, handing the bowl to Ace. Ace grunted, and started shoveling it in with a spoon. Literally shoveling. “We’ll do introductions after you’ve eaten,” Sabo declared. Ace barely looked up from his food. Sabo handed another bowl to you.
“For you, Mag - er - what should I call you now? I know you asked me not to call you by that atrocious nickname anymore.” You took the bowl and set it down, thinking. You didn’t want him to know your real name, to know even more information about you than he already did.
“Um, I’m not -”
Sabo cut you off, smiling. “How about Sunshine?” Sabo was clearly excited about this idea, but you couldn’t understand the nickname. Was he making fun of you?
“Sunshine? Why Sunshine?” You gave him a distrustful look.
“Because you make my day brighter!” Sabo said with a grin. That earned another grunt from Ace, who looked like he was about to pass out face down. Even though you were at his mercy, you didn’t like Sabo mocking you.
“I don’t think so, I don’t - I don’t do that. That’s not me.” You looked down at your stew, not wanting to meet his gaze. You felt a leather glove underneath your chin, pulling your head up to look at Sabo, who had a fond look on his face.
“It’s true. You are my sunshine. You’ll believe me eventually.” Sabo rubbed his thumb over your cheek, then let go. You felt confused. You liked Sabo - well, had liked Sabo - but this was too much for you. You were his only romantic choice on the island, that was probably why he was doing weird things. You ignored it for now.
“Now then, Ace, this is Sunny. Sunny, this is Ace,” Sabo said, taking the seat on your other side. You were in between the two brothers and it was uncomfortably silent.
“Ace, say hello. Don’t be rude,” Sabo said in a clipped tone. You could tell Sabo was getting annoyed, and that made you worried. You’d never seen Sabo mad before, but you could tell it wasn’t something you wanted to see. Ace still didn’t say anything, steadfastly staring at his bowl as if it was the most interesting thing in the world. “Pardon us for a moment,” Sabo said to you, smiling. With that, he walked around you and grabbed Ace by the ear. Sabo yanked him backwards off the stool, causing Ace to yelp and stumble. Sabo didn’t let go and dragged a floundering Ace out the door, slamming it behind them. You heard a muffled Sabo talking to his brother, mentioning something about manners and hospitality. You finally heard Ace’s voice as he shouted back at his brother.
“FINE!” Ace yelled at Sabo, opening the door again. He gave you a once over, like he was finally seeing you.
“I’m Ace. Nice to meet you,” he grumbled, inclining his head slightly. He sat back down next to you and picked his spoon back up.
“I’m, uh, Sunny, I guess?” You’d go with Sabo’s cringey suggestion for now. You didn’t think he knew your identity and you weren’t going to provide it.
“Great! Now we all know each other. I met Sunny at Bayonette -”
“You kidnapped me from Bayonette,” you interjected quietly. You weren’t going to let him forget that you weren’t here voluntarily.
“You a Marine?” Ace asked, still watching his food.
“Yes,” you replied.
“No,” Sabo replied at the same time. “She was a Marine, but no longer.” You looked at Sabo curiously. Sometimes the way he spoke reminded you of nobles you’d met a few times. But you didn’t know any nobles who joined the Revolutionary Army. It was probably just a quirk, like his suits and top hat. Ace finished his stew and got off his chair.
“See ya around,” he said, going to his room and shutting the door behind him.
Sabo POV
Ace was being annoying but the introduction had actually gone better than Sabo had expected. Ace hadn’t seen anyone besides Sabo since they’d come to live on the island together over a year ago. It was time for Ace to start reacclimating to society, starting with meeting new people. When he met you, he knew you’d be a good person for Ace to befriend. You were smart but oblivious, kind but reserved, intelligent but humble, similar qualities to those Ace had. Since Marineford, Ace’s self confidence and self worth issues had increased exponentially. Sabo tried talking to him about it but he could tell that Ace wasn’t taking to heart what Sabo said. Maybe if he heard it from someone else he would actually listen.
You were still eating, but Sabo unfortunately had work to do before the end of the day. All part of being second in command of an army, he supposed.
“Stay here and finish your food,” Sabo declared, pouring you another cup of water. “I have to make a call in my office, it shouldn’t take too long. When you’re done eating, feel free to explore the house or the island. If you’re cold, there’s more clothes in our room. Wear anything you want.” Sabo said, putting a hand on your back. You looked up at him like a little lamb, large eyes so innocent and lost. He wanted to wrap you up in his arms and kiss you, but he knew it wasn’t the time. He had nearly lost his self control when he saw you in his hat, picturing you riding his cock wearing it and nothing else. He’d get some physical contact with you again tonight, after you slept. You’d be sharing a bed, whether you knew it or not.
Sabo left you and walked briskly to his office, needing to call Dragon. He’d delayed calling for a while, wanting to get his thoughts in order before calling his boss. Sabo didn’t like doing anything impulsively, he preferred to plan meticulously and strategically. He needed to ensure Dragon saw the benefit of having you as an RA asset, rather than some woman he grabbed for comfort. He woke the white den den mushi and started placing his call.
Puru puru puru puru puru puru…
Dragon picked up on the second ring.
“It’s Sabo. Mission ‘Bastille’ completed, with a deviation in plans.” He knew Koala would have informed Dragon already but he wanted the boss to hear it from him as well.
“Welcome back. Go on.”
“No further research will be completed on the project, permanently. I was not able to destroy the base as desired but will return at a later date to do so.”
“Why? You were there long enough.”
“A complication arose. I captured the lead scientist, she was working alone. She remains with me at the current time. She could be a critical asset for the RA.” Sabo didn’t actually care if Dragon approved or not, but his life would be easier if he did. Dragon didn’t answer so Sabo continued.
“I believe her to be the scientist behind Project Angel. Her area of expertise and writing style suggest it. She could continue innovation on the project, perhaps to completion.” Sabo let it drop, he knew Dragon well enough to know he was thinking over the proposition. The line went silent for 30 seconds.
“Gain her confidence, have her work on furthering the project. She may remain in your custody as long as you believe her research to be credible. A ship will be sent to your location.” Sabo smiled to himself. Dragon was hooked, as Sabo knew he’d be. He knew dropping his thoughts about your involvement with Project Angel was enough to show your usefulness. Sabo wasn’t going to let anything happen to you, no matter what the outcome of the conversation was, but he wanted to provide you with purpose. You could serve the Revolutionary Army, at least from afar. Sabo wasn’t surprised Dragon ordered him to the base, but also wasn’t happy about it. He would have to leave you on the island with Ace for a few weeks. But, it would give the two of you time to bond and enjoy each other’s company. Ace, despite his vocal objections, craved human comfort and contact, which you would provide to him.
Sabo’s heart felt lighter, despite the news of upcoming travel, as he hung up the snail. He wrote a few notes on some reports, read through a note or two and then decided to leave for the night. He left the office door ajar purposefully. He knew you were hiding in the bathroom and listening in, but he wanted to see what you would do. He went from the office to your shared room to freshen up the linens and prepare the room for the night. And to watch you, of course.
Your POV
After your dinner, you’d gone to the restroom near Sabo’s office. You hadn’t been planning on snooping ( again…) but while coming out, you heard yourself being mentioned in conversation. You would need to gather all the information you could if you wanted to escape the island. You heard the tail end of Sabo’s conversation with…Dragon? Obviously, if Sabo was second in command, the only person who could give him orders was the Supreme Commander, Dragon. You were just surprised to hear the deep voice coming out of the snail, you couldn’t imagine any other Marine had heard it and lived.
Sabo said you had been involved in ‘Project Angel,’ but you weren’t sure what that was. You’d never worked on anything with that name, but maybe the RA gave their own code names to Marine projects. You weren’t generally working on complete projects, just given assignments that didn’t always link together. How did they know about your work anyway? How did Sabo know your writing style? None of it was published, it was all classified information that only top Marines had access to.
Your stomach soured as you heard Dragon confirm the conclusion you’d already drawn yourself. Sabo wanted you to work for them, maybe on the assignment you had been assigned when Sabo kidnapped you. Dragon had given him direct orders to get you to complete work for them by gaining your confidence. No wonder Sabo had started touching you and put his hat on your head. He was trying to endear himself to you by any means necessary. You distantly wondered if any of it was real or if it was all engineered to make you fall for him. Anything for the cause, you supposed. You felt dejected, cast aside yet again.
During your stay on the ship, you’d gotten too comfortable with Sabo, relying on him time and time again. Well, no longer. You were determined to get off the island, get back to the Marines and never see Sabo ever again. Besides, you had started worrying about your family again. They might have heard news that you were kidnapped, which would devastate them. Even more than that, you were anxious about what would happen to them now that your paychecks wouldn’t be coming in. You hadn’t worked for the Marines long enough to have a pension, only a small payout if you died in the call of duty. But since you weren’t confirmed dead, your family wouldn’t be eligible. You chewed on your cuticle as you thought of your sister with EDS, your overworked mother, and your younger siblings. You would either have to escape soon or come up with another way to get money to them.
You heard Sabo leave the office, the door left open. He did say you could go into any unlocked room in the house. If he didn’t want you going to his office, he would have told you it was off limits or locked it. Peeking out of the door, you made sure Sabo wasn’t there. You darted from the bathroom to the office as quickly as you could. The office was the same as it was when he gave you the house tour in the afternoon. It was small but cozy, with an overstuffed loveseat against one wall, and a large desk that took up most of the space in the room. On the desk were many papers in different piles, sorted by category. There were piles of books and articles about Devil Fruits, some old newspaper clippings, and letters and reports related to the RA. In the corner of the desk was an old photo of him and Ace as kids, with another young boy. That must be the third brother Sabo mentioned once. They looked happy, all their faces squished together smiling. Sabo was wearing a smaller version of the same hat, and he and Ace had lead pipes. It made you think about your own siblings. You chewed on your nail as your hand shook.
On the opposing corner was the snail that Sabo had used to call Dragon. It looked different than snails you’d seen before. You’d never been given your own Marine snail, you just used the office one when you needed to make any calls. Creeping over to the sleeping snail, you put your shaking hand out to wake it up. Maybe you could call your base and tell them that you were alive? Let them know where you were? You were nervous, scared that Sabo would find you and punish you for trying to call for help.
Putting your shaking hand on the snail’s shell, it woke up and waited for you to make a call. You wavered back and forth, unsure what to do. Ultimately, you pulled your hand back, the snail returning to slumber. You didn’t want to waste a good opportunity when you didn’t have information. You didn’t know where you were or any coordinates that could help them find you. The call could be traced but only if you were able to stay on the line for 3 minutes or longer, which you didn’t think you could do without Sabo finding out. No, you’d wait to make a call when you thought it more advantageous. Maybe Ace could be tricked into giving you more information.
Sabo POV
Sabo was proud of you. He knew it wasn’t fair to test you, he knew you were still unsure of what his intentions were. After overhearing his phone call with Dragon, surely you understood that Sabo respected you for your abilities, not just your looks. He watched you extend a shaking hand to the snail, even going so far as to wake it up. You didn’t know, but the snail would only call Dragon, it was a white den den mushi. Chewing your lip, you were at a crossroads but decided not to call. Sabo was happy to see that your trust in him was growing, that you didn’t immediately reach out for rescue. You were starting to accept your place with him and on the island. Maybe you thought to find out more information first, he mused, but Sabo wasn’t foolish. He would only leave the snail out this once, taking it with him when he had to leave. Ace had his own that could call Sabo, you’d be fine.
“Find anything interesting?” Sabo asked, making you squeak. He was leaning against the door jamb, watching you look at his desk. He felt bad for scaring you, but it was hard not to when everything made you jump.
“Oh, uh, n-no, nothing. Just, um, looking. I-it’s ok, right? You said I could?” If Sabo’s soldiers acted like you did when caught, he would send them all back to basic training. But in you it was endearing.
“Of course you can look. Anything that is accessible is available to you. It’s your house too,” Sabo said, smiling kindly at you. You were still nibbling on your lip, making Sabo want to do the same. “You look tired, would you like to go to sleep?”
You nodded, looking up at him through your lashes. Sabo knew you’d be tired since you drank 5 cups of the drugged water. He should tell Ace not to drink it, he thought, otherwise the lug would sleep even more than he already did. But that was tomorrow’s problem.
“Come, I’ll show you the bedroom.” Sabo crossed the room and took you by the crook of your elbow before you could protest. Yes, it was 15 feet away, but Sabo wanted to touch you as much as he could. He guided you out of the office to your room. You poked your head in.
“There’s - there’s only one bed,” you sputtered. Sabo smiled, tightening his grip on your arm.

❝ SWEETEST ❞

ᴴᵒʷ ᵃᵇᵒᵘᵗ ˢᵒᵐᵉ ᵐᵘˢᶦᶜ, ᵈᵉᵃʳ ʳᵉᵃᵈᵉʳ?
summary* Spending time with your most beloved person. warnings* Fluff * Most parts are flashbacks! note ✉* ~ "WE ALL LOVE SABO" We say in unison♥ // Do not transfer or translate, this is my only account (exp. AO3), will not be crossposted anywhere.// Masterlist
"(Name)!" Sabo ran towards you and gave you one of the tightest hug ever.
Sabo had been gone for almost a month, during those times, you two weren't too connected with each other. He only had given you a baby den-den Mushi to keep in touch with each other, however, the only moments he had called you through the den-den Mushi was his free time. Which, almost rarely happens at all.
Before leaving through the ship with Dragon and the others, he made sure to treat you as much as he can, the reason for it was to make it up to all the days he'll be gone by your side. All kinds of treatment had been done to you for a full week, ranging to all the places you've always wanted to visit with him, to all sorts of gifts you'd been eyeing whenever you pass by a shop.
You had won the lottery with Sabo, he was the most gentle and the most loving person ever. Of course, all his 'surprise' dates would likely fail to be a surprise, he plans it with Koala giving him suggestions, and Koala ending up telling you everything. He never gets mad eitherway, nor irritated, he laughs it all off.
Back to the first time you two met, it was when he accidentally bumped to you on a busy village, he offered too much for an apology and ended up buying you dinner. You both kept in contact with each other after that incident.
Back to the present.
"Sabo! You're back!" You quickly return his hug as he spun you around like a princess. It was nice to have him back in your arms once again.
"How've you been (N/N)?" Sabo asked as he caresses your cheeks, planting a small kiss on them.
"Been missing you a lot!" You grin as he held your hands. "It was quite a surprise that you came home today, i never would've known until one of my neighbors told me that a ship was docked."
"Because — It is intended to be a surprise!"
The walk back from the house you two lived in was short, or so you think. The time passes by with Sabo happens to be so much faster, upon talking to each other, it felt like the world advanced into a faster orbital rate.
"Do you have plans for today (N/N)?"
"I cancelled all of them last minute since you're back, i wanted to spend time with you."
"Whoo.. that's good, i was— planning to take you out today. " Sabo smilled.
"Well i happily agree! I'll change clothes in a few minutes!" You unlock the door of the house and you two stepped in, almost immediately being greeted by the smell of sweet pastries and a hint of honeydew in the air. You walk towards your room, leaving Sabo by the living room.
Sabo wanders around the familiar surroundings, hoping to find something new. Looking at photographies of you two set on the wall, looking at the calming carved designs up on the wall. His nose picks up the familiar scent of your perfume.
"I'm back! Sorry for the wait!" You appeared in front of him, wearing your most beautiful clothing. Sabo swore that everytime he spends time with you, his love only grows so much more. He was in awe with your appearance, top to bottom, and head to toes.
"I almost forgot how beautiful you are inside and outside (N/N)." He looks at you with the widest smile ever.
"You're the Sweetest Sabo! You know I love you so much." You blush at his remarks,
"C'mon, let me lead the way for you." Sabo takes your hand and leads you outside the house.
—
You both reach the destination that Sabo led you to. It wasn't grand and anything, instead it was a flower field, filled with all types of flowers that was such a calming and soothing color, and mention the sunset as well. It lits up the place so much, it felt like the place was set to be in heaven and above.
You pick up a small tulip and held it on your hands as you place your head at Sabo's shoulder, watching the sunset together. Sabo seemed awfully quiet today, fidgety as well.
"Well...do you enjoy it?" Sabo asks.
"Of course! Especially because, I'm with you." You smile.
"I'm sorry for being so awfully quiet today."
"It doesn't matter Sabo! It's fine, we all have our reasons. I'm already happy just by being with you. "
" Turn around Princess."
...Huh? You do as he said, why would he ask you to turn around? You heard plastic crisping behind you and Sabo breathing heavily.
"Okay...Uh..— turn towards me (Name)."
You turn towards him, hoping for silence and nothing but a little prank. Instead, you got—
...

"Will you marry me, (Name)?" Sabo kneels on one knee, holding a ring and a bouquet of flowers on the other hand.
..."YES!" Sabo happily inserts the ring into your ring finger, standing up and finally hugging you tightly.
"I love you so much (Name), i love you so much." He muttered, as tears of joy fell on his cheeks.

No Rest for the Wicked
(Slasher AU | SFW | Yandere Sabo x Reader x Yandere Koala)
You're a goth student at a small university, and end up the victim of a Halloween prank gone wrong. Luckily, the Grad Student Instructor and his partner are awfully eager to help you out.
Haven't written for fun in 4+ years and what was meant to be my silly little Halloween debut oneshot became a 6871 word monster. This is the first part of at least three, things get sketchy as we go :') Gender neutral, but Reader is meant to be goth so there are mentions of corsets and makeup. Still kept the appearance vague bc I kept thinking of the My Immortal opener whenever I started describing outfits </3
TW for: Reader injury/head trauma, bullying uuhhhhhhhhhhh the length of this damn thing. Sorry if your name is Emily. Lmk if I missed anything
You don't like Halloween much, anymore.
Granted, you dressed like it was Halloween every day, but that had always been the case. Leather, carhartt, ripped skirts and jeans, and layer upon layer of black fabric was how you liked to roll. Sometimes a corset if you felt up to it. And eclectic jewelry, because of course. You went to college somewhere small, where that sort of thing was really only seen on TV or grimy band posters. Your style alienated you but you weren’t willing to compromise, so you spent a lot of time alone. This didn’t help the general impression your peers had of you.
So you really should have questioned it when Emily, a sorority girl, suddenly started to try and befriend you. She just sat herself next to you in the library one day and introduced herself. It was strange, but you were strange too, and you didn’t want to judge based on looks. So you accepted it- and soon you struck up an awkward, but nice friendship.
You liked it.
She got you to watch one of her archetypal chick flicks, and you got her to watch a horror movie. You picked a tame one, but it still freaked her out, so you said she never had to watch those with you again. You helped her study, went to the mall, even managed to win some radio lottery for tickets to a band you didn’t care about but she adored. You didn’t end up going, but you gave the three tickets to Emily, who went with two other friends.
And then October came. And you were invited to the yearly Halloween party, at some rich guy’s house out in the woods somewhere. You thought it would be great, your everyday attire was already suitable- but you went the extra mile. You hadn’t been invited to a party like this before. You were surprised you found yourself excited to go in the first place.
And at first, it was fun. Emily gave you a ride- her costume was some cheap, bloody nurse’s dress. “I feel kinda lame standing next to you,” she had said, looking at your black platform boots, torn stockings, corset, and tastefully unbuttoned top. You had eyeball earrings and various chains around your neck and waist, and of course you’d painted your nails black. You had laughed.
“Hey, I could lend you some pieces if you want. It would be nice to not be the only freak.” It was her turn to laugh.
A little too hard, you thought, but pushed it to the back of your mind.
When you arrived at the house- a gorgeous, three-story place with a wraparound porch and a 2nd floor balcony with a staircase down into the side yard and a fortune in kitschy Halloween decorations like face webs, blood, and plenty of jack-o-lanterns of course- you could hear how loud everything was before Emily even cut the engine. She turned to you- bleached tresses catching what little light there was. “Are you nervous?” She asked, voice giddy with excitement.
“Y-yeah,” You confessed, chuckling nervously. “I don’t think I’ve been to a party since I was a kid,” you muse. You’re both quiet, for a moment. “Thank you, by the way. Not just for the party invite, but uh- the everything. It’s been nice.” Your voice is soft. Looking back, the earnestness you’d shown her makes you nauseous. She had smiled at you.
“Aw, don’t get sappy on me now. You’re my lucky charm! I couldn’t get into that concert without you!”
Your memories after that were fuzzy. You remembered the crisp night air as you crossed the lawn with Emily. You remembered the way the warmth and light of the house and enveloped you when you stepped inside. You remembered everybody staring as soon as you walked in, and the pleasant burn of whatever alcohol you had been offered- you remembered idle chatter but nothing specific-
And you remembered the costume contest Emily had urged you to participate in. You tried to say you weren’t exactly in costume, just ambiguously goth. Lots of other weak arguments too, but she insisted. You remembered that. How insistent she was. How she said this was your chance to leave your little shell and open up. That everyone there would love you. Their makeshift stage sat beneath an indoor balcony, and you’d thought it was just so party-goers on the second floor could see. A wooden table with a number of goofy props had been set off to the side. You had stood there, before a sea of drunk faces, and in the blink of an eye-
Cold
Wet
Sticky
A sharp, quick strike to the top of your head.
And then you woke up gasping, sobbing, a splitting pain in your skull and oh god, oh god oh god- Blood. So much of it. Covering you, covering the floor, and a strangled, warbling shriek clawed its way up and out of your throat- was it yours?! Was all of this- all of it yours?!
You’re- you’re dying.
Overlapping voices, Emily- “B-but it’s a joke! It w-was just a joke, wait-!”
Everything’s blurry, but there’s so much violent, viscous red, you’re dying.
You sob, trying to lurch to your feet, but someone stops you-
It’s loud. It’s so fucking loud and it hurts. Everything is blurry and bright and the screaming- you can’t process any of it- two figures in blue with tophats sit in front of you, saying something, but you don’t understand. They reach for you- both at once, and you scramble backwards into someone else- hands on your shoulders, trying to gently push you down.
Everything from then on was a whirl of pain and color and sound- no Emily. No… anybody that you could recognize. You’re lifted by the blue figures- carried through a parting crowd, into the cold sting of the night air, and into the wrong car.
“No, no,” You tried to say- this wasn’t your ride, this isn’t how you got here, but your voice didn’t feel right in your skull and it scared you, so you stopped. You end up in the backseat with the blue men, another figure driving. Was that the one you backed into?
“-you hear me?” The blue men say. It sounds like you’re underwater.
“H-huh wha- what?” You offer pathetically.
“Okay, good, that’s an actual word out of them,” A woman’s voice says from the front.
“Pretty slurred though,” The blue men respond, holding up their overlapping gloved hands and pointing four fingers skyward. “How many fingers am I holding up?” He asks you.
“Y-you’ve both guh-got four,” you say, leaning back with a whimper. Speaking hurts your head. You hear the men swear.
“Okay. A lot less good,” the woman upfront says. “Keep them awake, Sabo.”
“Yes, I know the drill,” the brothers(?) say, before turning back to you.
“You twins?” You whisper out, and get a light huff in response.
“You’re in shock,” they tell you gently. “It’s going to be alright, though. Can you tell me your name and birthday?”
You squint, stumbling through the answers to various questions. You’re slow- each word reverberating through your skull, rattling your teeth and adding to the pressure behind your eyes. But it does keep you awake until they get you to the hospital.
-
You woke up in a dimmed hospital room, all dull grays and white. Two people in well-made (but now bloodied) steampunk costumes sitting in chairs at your bedside. A blonde man with a blue vest and black coat, leaning on the shoulder of a smaller, ginger woman in pink, who’s reading a book. You can’t make out the title, your vision is still a bit blurry.
“Hello..?” You croak out, earning a jump from the woman before you. You squint. You think her eyes might be green.
“Oh good, you’re awake! How do you feel?” She asks softly.
“Um, bad,” you rasp. God, you feel awful. Worse than any hangover you’d ever had. “Who are you..? What… happened?” You ask, voice trailing into a scratchy whisper.
You hear her sigh softly. You wish you could tell what kind of face she was making. “My name’s Koala. My partner Sabo and I brought you here after an… accident.” She pauses, for something- you aren’t sure what. A dull pulse throbs in your head. “Do you… remember anything?”
You squint. “Um… Emily was t-taking me to a… party. I was at a party.” God, your head hurts. Just thinking about the loud music and overlapping voices makes you nauseous, and you groan. “Koala… Sabo… heard those, somewhere…” Maybe you’d met- maybe they just said their names while you were out of it. And it’s hard to tell if someone’s familiar when they just look like fuzzy shapes to you.
“It’s okay, take your time. You’ve… had a rough night. Oh- I should probably call the nurse, hold on.” You see her reach for something, and hear the soft click of a button. Then she turns to her side, shaking the figure leaning on her shoulder. “Sabo- Sabo, get up idiot, they’re awake,” she hisses, the warmth she addressed you with now replaced with irritation. The man, Sabo, sighs, sitting up with a groan. He stretches, earning a flinch from you when his back cracks loudly.
“Ah, that’s good to hear,” a gentle, sleepy voice intones, and even with the blur in your vision you can see his grin. “How are you feeling?”
“... Bad.” You repeat, earning a snort from Koala. “Weren’t there three people with me..?”
“Ah… no, you are… quite concussed, my friend.”
“Oh…” you pause, trying to focus on the fuzzy folk before you, but it’s useless. “I’ve… heard of you before, I think…”
A soft chuckle bubbles out of the man’s chest. “We’ve spoken a few times. I’m a grad student instructor, and Koala’s my partner. Does that ring a bell..?” The concerned lilt in his voice is soothing.
“I… think so…”
“Well, no need to worry about it,” Koala pipes up, crossing her arms. “You’ve got plenty of time to get your bearings.”
Shortly after that, a nurse arrived, and you went through a standard physical exam. Your reflexes were a bit slow and your vision wasn’t great, but you were far more coherent. You were exhausted though, arms trembling after just drinking a little bit of water.
The two had to gently break the news that you had been a setup, deliberately lured to that party so you could be pranked Carrie style with a bucket of fake blood. Except the bucket itself was rather heavy, striking you on the head and making you fall just right, resulting in you bashing your head once more against that stupid prop table. The woman, Koala, told you that you’d been unconscious for around ten seconds, give or take. They had rushed to your side, the room silent, until you woke up and screamed.
It was bad. Sabo and Koala both worked to get your jewelry off you, since you’d likely need an x-ray- but the biggest issue was that the fake blood dumped on you made it hard to tell where the real injury was, and how much real blood you were losing. The workers had to clean you up and your entire outfit was ruined. Your family was called, but they lived out of state and couldn’t make it to you. The hospital kept you for a few more hours, running tests and making sure there were no further complications- your benevolent saviors remaining with you the whole time. That part gave you pause. You didn’t think strangers were even allowed to do that, but you didn’t mention it. You felt wrong questioning these people.
The nurse was a kind but stern woman, making sure to speak very clearly for you. “Alright, sweetheart, here’s how this is gonna work. You clearly can’t drive, but luckily your friends here can. Once you’re home, you need to be supervised for at least three days. We’re giving you the good stuff, for pain- take one every 4-6 hours, as needed.”
“O-oh, that’s okay,” you stammer. Supervision? You live alone in a single-person dorm room. “I c-can… manage on my own, none of that is hard,” you try to assure her, despite how wrong it still felt just to talk. Your mouth doesn’t feel like it was yours, the delay between thought, intention, and execution of speech unsettling. The nurse clearly isn’t impressed, either.
“No. This is a head wound. If you have nobody to look after you, we will not discharge you.”
“Well, I suppose that’s where we come in. We’re already driving you home, aren’t we?” Sabo gently pipes up.
And that’s how you find yourself pushed out to the car in a wheelchair. A little excessive, you think, feeling heat rise to your cheeks at the idea of just how much these strangers- well, acquaintances, you suppose- are doing for you. When Sabo opened the door for you, you winced, seeing the dark, sticky mess you had left in his backseat. “I’m sorry about b-bleeding all over your car,” you mumble, but he waves you off.
“Please, don’t worry yourself over something like that,” he chides. “Most of that isn't even real, anyway. I can get it cleaned, it’s alright. Let’s get you home, okay?” He says, ushering you into the clean side of the backseat.
-
The three of you stand in front of the door to your tiny dorm room, you leaning heavily on Sabo while you struggle with your keys. He has an arm around your waist to steady you, but you still feel like you’re gonna tip over. At least it’s too early for any other students to see you- most of them are still probably sleeping off whatever parties they went through. The splitting ache in your skull made you wish the same. After a good twenty seconds of struggling with the rusted lock of your front door, Koala sighs, taking the keys from you and doing it herself in one smooth motion. You can’t help but deflate a little bit. You’re ushered inside the little space, a twin sized bed across from a couch and a single window between them. You’ve got a crappy old wardrobe that houses the clothes you wear most often, while the rest is kept in a bin that normally lay beneath your bed- but with a shaky sigh, you take in the sight of it pulled out into the open from when you had been excitedly planning your outfit last night. Dark, cobwebby drapings of tattered cloth and worn leather, both faux and authentic, haphazardly scattered about.
You set down the plastic bag your soaked clothes had been placed in, sinking to your knees with the intention of packing things up, but a hand on your shoulder stops you.
“Just leave it for now,” says Sabo, voice soft as ever. “We can get that for you later. Why don't you just lie down, hmm?” Warm gloved hands guide you to your bed, and you sigh as you sink into the comforter.
Your two guests look around your room, and you suddenly flush. Your walls are littered with flyers, artwork, band and movie posters, the latter of which are mostly pulpy horror flicks. You haven't had anyone in here in ages except-
Emily.
Your stomach lurches. You'd somehow managed not to think about her.
Koala turns to you, about to say something, but stops when she sees the tears welling up in your eyes. You don’t want to break down in front of these people. You curl in on yourself, wiping your tears frantically, willing yourself not to start bawling. Sabo and Koala are muttering something to each other, but you can’t make it out. “Sorry…” You mutter, voice thick and wobbly. “You two have, um- thank you. I’m sorry about all this. Probably not how you wanted to spend your Halloween.”
“Oh none of that now,” chides Sabo, who has made himself at home on your couch. “It certainly wasn’t part of our plan- Ow!” He winces when Koala elbows him in the ribs. “As I was saying, some things are a bit more important than crashing a party. And I’m sure you didn’t plan on having your head cracked open, so don’t talk like it’s your fault.”
“Th… thank you. Really. I don’t know what would’ve happened if you weren’t there.” They’re so… nice to you. It feels different from Emily, in a way you can’t quite articulate. Something about them just makes you feel relaxed and at ease… part of that could also be the exhaustion seeping into your bones, like water being soaked up by a thick blanket of cotton. “But what happens now..? Are you really gonna… babysit me for three days? Don’t you two have things to do? Besides, this place is tiny.”
You feel a dip in the mattress as Koala comes to sit by you, and it makes your head spin for a second. “We definitely have a few calls to make,” she sighs. “But your couch is perfectly fine- and Sabo can take the floor, because he’s such a gentleman, isn’t he?” The sly lilt has you giggling, and Sabo just huffs, taking the playful jab in stride.
“Naturally,” he tells her, and you think he might have winked.
You yawn, eyelids fluttering. “That’s… still not great. Seriously, th-this place… kind of sucks. I don’t even have a kitchen in here…”
That seems to give them pause. Koala hums. “Well… Sabo’s place has a couple guest rooms, but sometimes his brothers stay there too…”
“Wait, n-no, I c-can’t just um, intrude like that-!”
Your guests share a look. You wish you could tell what kind. “Well, we’re not leaving you here alone. It’s just not an option.” Koala asserts. You open your mouth to protest, but Sabo beats you to it.
“Look, I know we aren’t close, and this is all… very sudden. You don’t know us very well, it’s weird to stay at a stranger’s house. But…” He rubs the back of his neck. “There’s a good chance you could hurt yourself. And I wouldn’t be a very good GSI if you missed Professor Silver’s lecture next week because I left you alone.” You snort, then wince at the bolt of pain that shoots through your muddled head. “A lot has happened to you in the past twelve hours. This isn’t ideal for anyone, believe me- but we’re worried about you.”
You should have had more questions, honestly- but oversights abound when one has a traumatic brain injury. Sabo steps out to make a call, and Koala helps you pack an overnight bag. A couple changes of casual, comfortable clothes- mostly black, of course. And you finally change out of the off-white spares provided by the hospital, from loose thin overshirt and pants to some pajamas with a sweater thrown over it. Nothing particularly interesting but unfortunately, you had more pressing concerns. Sabo comes back in shortly after, nodding to his partner.
This time, instead of helping you hobble your way back down to the parking lot, Sabo just picks you up. You sputter, but he just hushes you, and Koala locks the door behind you all with your black coffin-shaped backpack slung over her shoulder.
That thing rules, you think to yourself, allowing your body to relax against Sabo. Your cheek squishes against his chest, and you catch a faint scent- the sweet, chemical tang of the fake slop that was dumped on you. Despite your discomfort, you quickly find it hard to keep yourself awake. You’re in the hallway- early morning sunlight casting a golden glow through the old dorm building. Your eyes flutter shut- then back open- you’re in the parking lot, and Koala is shuffling around in the backseat. When she moves away, you see that an old, ratty, dark brown blanket has been draped over the recently stained polyester. You hum as Sabo buckles you in, then gently lays you down, adjusting the seatbelt so it doesn’t bite into you uncomfortably.
“Poor thing,” you hear Koala coo. “So, you’re sure it was him? And what did everyone say about rescheduling..?” She continues as you drift off.
-
You wake up with a groan, in an unfamiliar room. The walls are a pleasant tawny color, with one cream accent wall. You’ve been tucked in underneath a comforter topped with a quilt- the scattered geometric pattern comprised of black, white, and shades of gray. It brings a smile to your face, that they went through the trouble of finding you a quilt that matched your aesthetic. You sit up slowly, groaning at the throbbing ache in your head. You blink, smacking your lips, trying to get rid of the dry, scratchy feeling in your throat. Turning to the right, there’s a bedside table- a glass of water and one of your pills left out for you, along with a small note. They’ve also been kind enough to plug your phone in for you. Extending a trembling hand, you pick up the little scrap of paper and squint at the clean, rounded handwriting.
Sabo will be back later, he’s running some errands. If you wake up before I come check on you, please take the pill I left out. I’m in the living room, which is down the hall to your right if you need anything. - Koala
You sniff, placing the note down and doing as instructed. You wince at the feeling of the sizable white pill catching on the inside of your throat on the way down, even with the water. Rubbing your throat you reach for your phone without a thought, and-
The first thing you do is wince when the light of the screen meets your eyes. When the blurriness subsides a little, you blink away the not-quite-tears of eyestrain to find 24 missed calls, and 99+ messages, the unlock screen preview shows you. You grimace, turning your attention to the time. A little over half past one, November 1st. You take a deep breath. You don’t want to think about all this. At least not alone.
You stumble to your feet to go find Koala like the note said, but you don’t really need to. She hears your door open, and comes to fetch you herself and guide you to the leather sofa. You sit sideways, with your feet up on the cushions. You’re trying to take in your surroundings when a folded knit blanket is plopped onto your lap, and she sits down with you with her knees up to her chest. You take a moment to relax, kneading the soft, blue fibers in your tired hands. “... Hi,” you rasp, then clear your throat. “Uh… this is a nice place. Thanks for letting me stay…”
“Mmm. Don’t mention it. Wasn’t really up to you, anyway.” The woman tilts her head slightly, regarding you. “... Are you feeling any better? I’m guessing you read the note?”
“Yeah, I did. And I’m mostly just… tired and sore, now. I was worried I’d be nauseous, but I’m not, so… that’s nice.”
“That is good,” she agrees, “We were a little worried you’d have trouble eating.”
“Mmmhmm.” You’re both quiet for a moment. Koala has changed into something more casual as well- a sky blue sweater that looks too big on her and loose reddish brown pants. You unfold the blanket she gave you, sighing. “Um… so, should I inform the school somehow-”
“Sabo is speaking to the faculty on your behalf, so don’t worry about that.” She has a… blunt way of speaking that sometimes takes you off guard, but you’re getting used to it quickly. Overall she’s nice. “That girl-” she spits, and you can make out a grimace- “Emily, she blew up Sabo’s school email when you didn’t answer her.”
“Oh.” You breathe. “What… did she say..?”
You hear Koala inhale, hear her start to say something, but she looks at you and pauses for a moment. Then she sighs and shakes her head, shoulders slumping. “It’s not important. Don’t worry about her.” Your brows furrow a little bit. You think that if it’s about you, you should get to know, but whatever.
“... Anything she’s got to say is probably already on my phone, anyway,” you groan, pressing your palms against your eyes.
“I thought as much,” she mumbles bitterly. “Well, listen- I’m sure your family should hear from you directly at some point today. Do you feel up to that?”
“... I don’t know.”
“Fair enough. The hospital was sure to mention that you’re stable when they contacted your parents, so at least they aren’t completely in the dark.” There’s another silence, but it’s not uncomfortable. Or maybe your head is still too muddled to feel awkward. You find yourself wishing you’d had a chance to meet under better circumstances, though, rather than ending up as a burden to these two. “Well…” she starts, “do you like tea? I know Sabo usually keeps a couple different kinds in the house.”
You nod, a soft smile quirking the corners of your mouth upwards. “Thank you, that sounds lovely,” you say, absentmindedly reaching up to trace the stitches in your head, only for Koala to lurch forward to slap your hand away.
“Don’t touch it, idiot! It’ll get worse!” She scolds you, but it doesn’t feel mean-spirited. You gingerly lower your hand and sit on it, earning a snort from her. “If that’s what it takes,” she quips, a smile in her voice. She stands, stretches, and settles with her hands on her hips. “Can I trust you not to start prying your stitches out if I leave to go put some water on?”
“Probably not.” That gets another little huff from her.
“Might have to tie your hands, then,” she muses. “Alright, listen. I’m going to go make tea. Then I’m gonna help you clean up a bit more- get the excess gunk off your face. We’ll see how you’re feeling after that. If you aren’t too out of it, I’ll help you make that phone call.”
You end up making that call after the tea is finished, opting not to keep anyone waiting. Koala has it on speaker phone, and is able to elaborate where you can’t. You don’t tell your family about… the prank, yet. You can feel Koala’s gaze on you, but she follows your lead, being vague on the details and focusing on your condition. You tell your mother there was an accident at a party, and you’re with a friend right now.
“Oh, that Emily girl, right?” Your mom asks.
You’re glad you can’t audibly wince, but you can’t really fault her for asking. “No, i-it’s someone else.”
“You’ve made other friends? Oh that’s wonderful, I’m so glad you’re finally coming out of your shell!” You lock up, eye twitching. This is a comment you do fault her for. Really? She’s on about this now? The rest of the conversation is a blur- you sit, curled up on the couch and sipping your tea while Koala takes over for you. She talks a little about herself and Sabo, and a little about you, too- mentioning some student art exhibit you’d submitted a piece to at the beginning of your time on campus, back when you were still trying to be sociable. You find heat rising to your cheeks. She was there? She remembered it? You feel guilty for not recognizing her sooner. Somewhere in the middle of the conversation, Sabo gets home, setting down some brown paper grocery bags and walking over to quietly press a kiss to Koala’s temple. The conversation ends shortly after Sabo introduces himself, winning them over just as easily as Koala had. They exchange contact info with your parents, assuring them that they would be updated. It leaves you feeling a bit… infantilized, truthfully, but everyone involved means well.
When all that is said and done, Sabo addresses you personally. “Glad to see you awake and alert. I’ve got everything for a light soup. Does that sound good?”
You nod. “Yes, thank you. L-let me know if I can help p-pay for anythi-” you’re interrupted by light, airy laughter.
“Nonsense, I’m used to paying for whatever crazy shenanigans my brothers get into, food for a couple days is nothing. And I’m willing to bet their appetites are way bigger than yours, anyway.”
Koala saunters over, wrapping an arm around his waist. “You talk like you aren’t just as bad as those two,” she says, jabbing a finger into his chest and turning her head to you. “Don’t let the clean student-faculty sweetheart image fool you, he gets into all sorts of shit,” she huffs, earning a laugh from her partner. You’re sure the smile on your face is rather dopey, but these two are cute together.
“Seeing as he’s got a concussed stranger sleeping over, yeah I’d say that tracks,” you tell her, earning a pout from the man.
“Aw, we’re not strangers anymore, are we?” Koala asks with a faux tearfulness.
“I… guess not…”
“Good,” she says, detangling herself from Sabo and pressing a kiss to his jaw before turning back to you. “Now lay back- I’m gonna clean the rest of that shit off your face now.”
“H-huh?” You sputter. She’d already mentioned doing this, but the firmness of her statement takes you off-guard. Sabo just laughs.
“Koala is very strong-willed. You won’t be winning any arguments with her, just give in now,” he says sympathetically.
There’s a sharp exhale from the woman. “I wouldn’t have to be strong-willed if you'd just listen to me the first time,” she quips, already applying drops of liquid makeup remover to a cotton ball. When had she even gotten those out?
You sit as still as possible for Koala, leaning back against the pillows piled behind you as your new friend slides onto the couch. She slots herself between your knees and looms over you, her brows furrowed as she begins to carefully, gently dab away the remnants of faux, syrupy blood still clinging to your hairline, behind your ears, and other creases in your face. Most of your makeup and the blood had been washed off in the hospital, but the priority was of course your injury. The details were left for later. She knows what she’s doing, featherlight touches soothing your frazzled mind. It just feels right- your eyes flutter shut as she reaches for your face, cool dampness of the cotton balls and makeup wipes running over your eyelids, down the sides of your nose… heart fluttering at the chuckle Koala lets out when the sharp scent of the cleaning solution makes your face scrunch up. You smile softly when you open your eyes again, earning a pause from her. She tilts her head quizzically, short ginger hair framing her round eyes…
Your vision is a little clearer now. You can see a lot better than you could when you were still in the hospital, barely coherent with a head full of static. “I was right,” you giggle, dazed voice weighed by fatigue, but the fear, anxiety, sadness- the hurt- is all finally gone. “Your eyes are green. You’re really pretty, Koala.” She jolts, face going red, turning to glare at Sabo when he laughs.
“You’re still out of it,” she hushes, but you don’t miss the shaky smile poorly hidden behind her hand.
-
It’s a pleasant night. Sabo starts on the food shortly after Koala finishes, and you nap on the couch as the pleasant smell of chicken and rice soup fills the house. It’s an open kitchen, so most of what Sabo does is visible the few times you drift back into consciousness. The final time you wake up, it’s to Sabo gently shaking your shoulder with a bowl of soup ready for you, along with another one of your pills. The three of you eat together in the living room, small talk petering off as it becomes clear just how tired you are. But it’s pleasant- warmth filling you as you slowly eat, eyelids growing heavier and heavier, until you find everything but the flavor of light soup and dull pulse in your skull fading away.
You’d be perfectly content to just pass out here on the couch, but Koala is insistent you get to bed properly. You’re in the bathroom, struggling to brush your teeth- the harsh scratching sound of a toothbrush resonating through your entire skull with a dizzying buzz. You aren’t looking forward to doing this again… maybe you could get away with just using mouthwash for a couple days..? Ugh, probably not… You’re leaning in close to the mirror, examining the sutures on your head. When you had struck the table, it had pulled your skin back, tearing the wound open wider. Part of it pokes down through your hairline, about two inches visibly protruding past your temple, earning a frown from you. You gingerly run your fingers over the rough stitching-
“Please don’t do that.” Despite the softness of Sabo’s voice, his sudden appearance makes you jump. “Ah, sorry, I didn’t mean to scare you,” he says.
“It’s fine, don’t worry about it.” You sound a little wobbly, but that’s mostly because you’re tired.
He pushes off from where he’s resting against the doorframe, stepping into the room to assess his own reflection beside you. “It will likely scar,” he says after a moment. You look at Sabo- actual Sabo, instead of his reflection- and he turns to look at you as well. The dramatic sunburst of scarring around his eye makes yours look like nothing in comparison- you feel a little self-conscious about silently fussing over yours with him right there. “But it could be worse. Easier to cover with certain hairstyles, or makeup, should you so choose.” You manage to suppress your wince. You don’t actually know how Sabo feels about his scars- you think they’re cool, but he might not. But you also don’t want to assume he’s hinting at any of his own insecurities and say something weird.
“More worried about lingering brain damage, honestly,” you eventually settle on, turning back to the mirror. “Might look kinda cool, once it heals up a bit… but it came from something really stupid.”
“You could just make something up, like I do,” he offers, earning a shaky smile from you.
“Thanks, Sabo, but I’m pretty sure everyone’s gossiping about it. By the time I get back on campus, everyone will already know…”
“Well…” he starts, your gaze following his hand as it moves up to rub your shoulder. “Good thing we won’t be here forever, hmm..?” He purrs quietly. You look to him, and any retort you had dies on your tongue. There’s an intense look in his wide eyes, paired with a small polite smile that doesn't quite match up.
“H-Huh?” You’re quiet, confused.
He takes in your response, blinking and pulling his hand away from you to rub the back of his neck. “I just mean we won’t be students here, forever… didn’t mean to sound alarming. Plenty of people out in the world you could tell a fun little lie to,” he clarifies, and you relax again. “Though you are right, it’s an oversight on my part not to consider how much people talk.”
The tension deflates immediately, and you feel a little bad. Your mind is just playing tricks on you- it’s been a rough 24 hours, after all. “Oh, haha, i-it’s fine… sorry for being jumpy. B-besides, I’m used to dumb gossip already, I-I should probably just…” You falter. His eyes aren’t as intense, but you feel like his focus is. He’s just trying to be a good listener, you tell yourself. You’re the one making things weird. You clear your throat, trying to ignore the funny feeling in your chest. “Sorry. I don’t know w-why I’m so worried, it’s all the same shit,” you try to joke. Your attempt at a chuckle is thin and reedy. The face of the man before you softens- and you realize you don’t like it. You don’t like the disdain, the laughter, the frankly juvenile way your peers treat you, but you don’t like this, either. The pitying look, like you’re a stray puppy left out in the rain. With a black, spiked collar, maybe. What’s wrong with you? Why are you so upset? Seconds after you notice the first small, watery hints of tears welling up in your eyes, you just break down.
Sabo moves swiftly, seemingly on autopilot, wrapping you up in a hug, warm hand pressing your head against his chest. It’s nice. It feels so, so nice- he’s steady and reliable, firm chest and arms keeping you snug and secure against him and you can’t help but think have I ever been held like this before? You’re embarrassed- you don’t want to behave like this, it feels so childish. But your body shudders with a cracked sob despite yourself, hands tightly balling themselves up in his shirt as he slowly sinks the both of you to the floor. “Sorry, m’sorry,” you whine into his chest. Why? Why now? The look he gave you didn’t rattle you that hard, did it? God, the pressure behind your eyes, that constricting tightness in your throat- it all makes the ache in your head bloom all the worse. He rubs your back, settling you in his lap. “I don’t know why- I d-don’t get it,” you gasp, clinging to him. The firm, hurried sound of approaching footsteps meet your ears, stopping at the doorway.
“It’s okay. Shhh, it’s alright, you don’t have to,” coos Sabo, and you feel him turning to look at Koala, no doubt coming to check on the racket you were making. “I’m sure it’s a little bit of everything. It was bound to happen at some point. You’ve been through a lot, just let it out, alright? It’s okay.” Koala approaches, shuffling past Sabo in the narrow space so she can sit adjacent to two of you.
“We expected something like this, so don’t worry. I’m glad you aren’t bottling things up,” she says, leaning forward to wrap her arms around you both. They’re both so warm. Leaning against Sabo’s chest, Koala’s head comes to rest on your shoulder as Sabo readjusts, momentarily removing an arm to embrace his partner in return. A little bit awkward, all three of you piled onto the floor like that, but it still just feels so nice. Pleasant. You don’t know why these two have your back, but you have absolutely no doubts that they do. “Let's get you to the bedroom, alright? Much more comfortable there than a bathroom floor.” That comment is probably as much for Sabo as it is for you. You nod against his chest, and he wastes no time in sliding an arm under your knees and securing your back with the other. You sniffle and whine pathetically as he walks you back to the guest room, setting you on the bed, sitting up. You blink, hiccuping as your host pulls the covers over you. Koala approaches with a glass of water- when did she get that? And two pills. “The second is just some melatonin,” she soothes, handing the tiny puck of medicine alongside your prescribed painkiller. “You’ve been falling asleep well enough, but we thought… Well, just in case.” When had they talked about that? When you were napping? You didn’t care very much at the moment.
“Th-thank you,” you choke out, reaching your shaking hands out for the water and the medicine. You would very much like to leave the waking world- everything is suddenly so overwhelming for no reason at all. “I’m so s-sorry for the trouble.” You pop the pills into your mouth, and when you go to drink, Koala’s hands clasp themselves over yours, assisting you in raising the glass to your mouth. The cool liquid soothes your throat, and your cries taper off into sniffles.
You take a shaky breath. Both of them are looking at you, but you don’t want to meet their eyes. “It’s okay. You’re tired and hurt, it’s to be expected.” Sabo comforts you, yet again. Your stomach twists. They’re adamant that everything is okay, that you aren’t imposing, but how couldn’t you be? If everything Emily supposedly felt for you was fake, who knows what these people could be up to? You set the glass down, Koala’s hands sliding away as you brace it between your thighs. You briefly notice a roughness to her palms- they’re callused.
… You’re tired.
“Thank you,” you rasp, looking back up to your hosts. They both nod.
“Is there anything you need?” Koala asks, voice soft. None of the edge it normally carries.
“I think… I-I just want to sleep.”
“Of course,” she says, but doesn’t move. She… hovers for a moment, looking you over before standing and turning to Sabo. You can’t see her face, but there’s something unreadable in the smile Sabo gives her.
You thank them again. They bid you goodnight, and you return it.
Your consciousness fades almost as quickly as their footsteps.

Guide You Home
Sabo X OC
Warnings: Uh, canonical slavery mentions, arson, and kissing.
Hope the wait wasn't too bad for you @sab0ace
Word Count: 2,645
Sabo felt like his skin was going to crawl right off of his body. Being in another fancy manor at a party, smoozing with guests and pretending like this was paradise—it itched. He set his jaw firmly to refrain from cursing out the vapid old man who’d held him in dry, polite conversation for the past fifteen minutes. He hadn’t wanted to approach this mission like this but Koala insisted on a low profile.
His partner was having the time of her life pretending to be as vapid and shallow as a puddle in the desert. Meanwhile, Sabo had nearly set the curtains on fire in a fit of fury at least three times. But he’d play nice. For now.
Everything about this made his head hurt though and he could only imagine what kind of repressed memories he had of places like this.
Sabo wrinkled his nose and looked around the room in boredom.
“Apologies, Sir Barkley, but I need to attend to some… matters.” Sabo excused himself swiftly before heading to the restrooms. Just beyond it was the offices where, with any luck, the papers he needs are in. Once he grabs those he can signal to Koala and they can leave this stifling party.
He barely made it five steps into the lavish office before he heard stomping feet trampling towards his location. Thinking fast, Sabo spotted a low cupboard where the carpet was immaculate—definitely empty and not used often. He crammed himself in without complaint, or at least not vocal complaint, and breathed softly. His back didn’t appreciate the tight quarters but it’d be better than the ringing his ears would receive if he messed up the mission because of carelessness.
The cupboard doors weren’t quite aligned properly, allowing Sabo a slim view into the room as the owner of the estate stormed into the room. Tossing a young lady so hard her side slammed into the desk nearly across the room. She cried out and sank to the floor, clutching her hip as she turned towards the man.
“Useless!” He hissed. “Utterly fucking useless! Not even worth the price I paid for you—you stupid, blind bitch!” He spat as the young woman cried softly, posture curling in shame. Sabo caught a glimpse of a collar around her throat. One of the cheaper ones, not set to explode or anything quite so drastic, but a slave collar nonetheless.
Ah. Sabo’s least favorite type of noble. He should have known. Cheap bastards.
His to-do list for the evening just gained a new objective in lieu of setting the whole place on fire.
The man continued to berate the young woman for some time before he grew hoarse and stormed out in a fit. Locking the door behind him. If the man wasn’t the host and clearly lacking the time to beat the young lady as he wished to, Sabo imagines he’d have to break the mission along with the man’s legs. Luckily, he didn’t need to.
With a sigh of relief that spooked the poor, frazzled young lady, Sabo removed himself from the cupboard.
“Well… he seems pleasant.” Sabo joked lightly, walking over to her side to help her stand. “Are you alright?” She sniffled, wiping at her eyes and brushing back her pale blond hair.
“…yes, sir. I-I’m alright.” Sabo grimaced at the weak, meek voice.
“None of that ‘sir’ nonsense with me, sweetheart. I’m not exactly an esteemed guest here.” Sabo grinned, noting that she seemed frazzled but otherwise unharmed. Her eyes hidden behind a thick fringe of bangs. “I need to pick up some papers, but after that, how do you feel about getting out of here?”
She paused, tipping her head up with a soft, vulnerable expression of hope.
Her hand drifted to the slim collar of cheap metal.
“I-I can’t…” Sabo carefully pulled away her hand and ran his fingers along the delicate column of her throat. Dipping his thumbs between flesh and metal before shattering it with ease. He tossed the metal to the floor with a pleased hum.
“I don’t know… you seem pretty free to me.” Sabo declared teasingly, her hand clutching where the metal used to rest in disbelief. She swallowed hard and smiled in disbelief.
“W-What did you need to get…?” She asked softly, clutching her maid’s dress anxiously.
“Some papers for the RA.” Sabo declared, not worried about ruining the mission in the slightest since he fully intended to take her with him. She perked up.
“Oh! Did you check behind that painting? Lord Minnop had me tend to the squeaky hinges and spent ages talking about the secret papers he kept there.” She piped up helpfully. Sabo snorted.
“Of course he did.” Sabo derided, looking towards the large… painting of the man himself. Somehow, he was disappointed but not surprised. The safe wasn’t even locked.
Ah. His most hated type of noble.
A stupid cheap bastard.
Still, it did mean he wouldn’t be stuck at this party for much longer. Sabo glanced at the ornate windows with the plush, thick curtains and grinned.
“…Ready to bounce, my lady?” Sabo asked with more feeling than he’d had all night, offering his hand with a gentle brush of his fingers along her wrist so she’d know what he was offering.
She beamed, smile lovely and wide.
“Of course!”
Sabo’s chosen signal of the night? Setting that ostentatious office on fire like he’d wanted to do to the ballroom all night.
Koala would get what he meant. She was good like that.
Unfortunately, not even his new lady friend’s presence could save him from the earful he got when Koala managed to leave the party, expensive dress lightly burned.
If he knew that she’d maliciously demand he take vacation time, he would have found a less destructive way to signal to her that he got the papers and it was time to go. It was worth it to give Luna freedom, but still... She’d been trying to settle into a place within the Revolutionary Army, no easy feat for someone totally blind. But her sweet demeanor was quite refreshing within the organization. Given time, Sabo knew she’d find her place.
Dragon stared down at Sabo with a look in his eyes that quietly asked him why he seemed allergic to vacations and not setting places on fire.
Sabo stared back with a look that said he didn’t have the slightest idea what Dragon was implying. Dragon, predictably, didn’t buy it at all.
“A month.” Dragon narrowed his eyes, glaring down at Sabo as the room grew tense.
“A week.” Sabo hissed defiantly.
“Three months.” Sabo’s eyes widened and he gawked.
“No! Absolutely not!” Sabo couldn’t just disappear from the RA for that long!
“I’ll make it six!” Dragon threatened.
“Six! Six!” Sabo threw up his hands. “What do I even do with three!?”
Dragon’s lips quirked in a smirk.
“Relax.” Dragon responded dryly. Sabo shuddered at the thought. “Luna.” Sabo whipped his head towards the door as Luna shuffled in cautiously.
“Yes, Dragon?” She asked with a cute tilt of her head.
“Please accompany Sabo to ensure he actually relaxes on his vacation… four months.” Sabo dismissed the elated feeling in his stomach as he sputtered with indignation.
“Four!? Four!? Dragon!” Sabo whined though he didn’t fight as Luna playfully dragged him out of the room to get ready for his volun-told vacation time.
“C’mon! You heard the boss, Sabo!” Luna declared with a laugh as she shoved him into his room to pack. “Don’t take too long or I’ll get Koala to tie you up and toss you onto the ship with nothing~!” Luna giggled before running off, presumably to pack her own things. Now that she wasn’t dragging him along, it started to crash onto him that he was actually doing this.
Going on vacation with the cute girl he nearly ruined a mission to make smile.
“Ack!” Sabo grimaced, paling as he realized he needed to hurry up before Koala came in and did the honors herself without Luna asking. She absolutely would hog-tie him with nothing to take on this ‘vacation’.
The island where Sabo and Luna were essentially abandoned on for the next four months had all the basic essentials and a small beachfront cabin. If memory served, it usually was meant to help agents lay low after difficult missions or when their undercover missions had been compromised.
The wooded area was populated with local wildlife he would’ve been able to handle in his sleep as a child, so he really didn’t have anything to worry about… just him and Luna alone. For four months.
“So this is where we’re staying, huh? Sounds peaceful.” Luna commented, walking out onto the front porch as Sabo glared at the ship Koala had personally used to dump them here.
“Yeah, sorry you have to look after me—” Sabo choked upon seeing Luna. Pale skin draped in a sheer kimono that swayed around her hips. Soft pink bikini and sandals indicating she intended to spend time on the beach. She was beautiful and Sabo flushed with embarrassment that he was too busy being a sourpuss to realize that this was also her vacation. “S-Sunscreen! Do you need some sunscreen? I’ll get some—and change!” Sabo sputtered, aware of how very overdressed he was still, Luna’s soft laughter following him into the cabin.
Sabo tossed away his clothes and shoved his legs into a pair of swim trunks, plucking the specialty sunscreen for the two of them out of the bag Koala packed. He looked into the food supply to see what they were working with and found it surprisingly packed with good food. Treats and even ice cream stored in the freezer. Sabo picked a pair of popsicles and went outside.
Luna was standing a few feet away from the porch, bare feet digging into the sand as she faced the ocean. Breeze gently ruffling her clothing and hair. She turned towards him as he approached, footsteps noisy in the relative calm.
Sabo smiled as he came to a stop, grabbing her hand to gently deposit the wooden stick between her fingers.
“Here. Something to enjoy while I make sure neither of us burn in the sun.” Sabo said before shoving the blue frozen treat into his mouth before he shoved his foot clear down his throat. Luna hummed and carefully tapped her hand over the blue ice. Once she found the top she started to lick and nibble carefully as Sabo applied lotion onto his hands.
He was respectful and gentle as he rubbed it over her back and shoulders. Her soft skin warm under his slightly chilled hands.
Sabo took out the popsicle.
“Do you want to take care of the rest?” Sabo asked holding up the bottle of sun lotion. Luna smiled and nodded, removing the popsicle to show her blue lips and tongue.
“Thank you, do you need help with your back? I can’t see but I think I can manage that.” Luna offered. Sabo swallowed hard, nearly biting off half his frozen treat as the sun beat down over them.
“S-Sure!” Sabo watched as she briskly applied the lotion over her soft body, his face heating up as his teeth hit the wooden stick at the center with a jarring click. He barely noted that it tasted like cotton candy despite nearly eating the whole thing already.
Luna politely polished off her own treat before biting down onto the stick with a grin, pouring a generous amount of lotion onto her hands and carefully reaching towards him.
Her hands met his chest with cold smears of white as she worked to carefully apply it over his body. His heart thudding against his ribcage as her small hands worked over his physique. He felt hot and like a total freak enjoying her touch as much as he was.
“You know… I’ve been wondering what this place looks like.” Luna commented softly as Sabo dutifully turned around to let her apply more lotion to his back, kneeling slightly to assist in their height differences.
Sabo looked out at the forest and cabin.
“Well, it’s not a very big island. We could probably walk across the whole thing in a day.” Sabo realized that she didn’t have any reference for any of it and felt like an idiot. “The beach is… pale gold. I stretches around the entire island and makes the forest look lush and thick next to it. The sea is really calm right now, deep blue stretching out to meet the bright horizon with barely any waves but what crests the sand… it’s beautiful.” Sabo looked over his shoulder, but his eyes were on Luna. Shaded by the sun that curved around her soft face and wonderous smile. Hidden eyes peaking through blond hair.
“What about you? Are you beautiful?” Luna asked softly, hands curled over his shoulders. Lotion thoroughly applied already but she didn’t remove her hands, merely ran them over his tensed muscles. “You feel… strong. And tall.”
Sabo gave a cocky, crooked grin.
“Well, I’ve heard that I’m handsome.” Sabo teasingly crowed, slowly turning to face Luna, his hands settling on her waist. “I’m not very tan. Maybe just a few shades warmer than the sand. Blond hair and blue eyes… I have a scar on one side of my face. A burn… it doesn’t hurt anymore but it’s still more pink than tan.” Sabo breathed out as she reached up his bare chest and traced his features for herself. Fingertips dragging over his thick neck and sharp jawline. Thumbs sweeping over the outline of his refined nose and cheekbones.
Delicately tracing the ridges of his burn and the shape of his eyes. Teasingly tapping the shell of his ear and brushing back his curly hair as she drifted down his features again. Sabo didn’t even realize he was leaning forward, popsicle sticks dropping into the sand at their feet. Her fingers pressed against his lips, his breath ghosting over her delicate skin as he found himself without breath.
His thoughts screeching to a halt as she tipped up her chin and stood up on her tiptoes. Soft, plush lips brushing over his in a teasing press. The faint taste of sugar chased by a flick of his tongue before she spun away with a laugh, dancing towards the waves with her skin flushed with warmth and sunlight.
Sabo jerked towards her by instinct, palms cold where they had been cradling soft curves.
Sabo grinned, running after her with much more quiet footfalls as her thin legs were splashed in the surf.
She screamed in delight as he picked her up, spinning her around before holding her against his chest. Her legs wrapping around his waist as he held her up with one arm under her ass. The other gently guiding her down for another kiss. Deep and wet, the sweetness on her tongue making his knees give out as he collapsed backwards into the wet sand. Water cresting over her back as she gasped breathlessly.
Sabo parted her lips eagerly, eating up her moan as cold ocean water crashed over them. Thick tongue brushing over hers as he chased the lingering taste of artificial sweetener. It took another cold wave to let her pull back, panting for air as he looked up at her with a strangled laugh.
She was soaked, hair tangling in blond sheets around them as he pushed it back with a grin. Ignoring the cold water tickling his ears as she laughed, leaning down to kiss him again. Her warm body pressed onto his as the water crashed over them again and again. The sensation lost to him in favor of soft skin and sweet lips.
Perhaps four months isn’t long enough to appreciate this…

doohickeys—lawbin brotp fanfic
This is not dark, but it’s an excerpt from a very dark multi-chaptered fic, so I won’t link. My AO3 profile can be found in the header of this page though. This has canon-verse elements, but is divergent. It’s post-canon. Law’s at a safe house where Robin, some revolutionaries, and others, are planning. He’s recovering from captivity and had his earrings removed while imprisoned.
They’ve just been returned and he’s wearing them once again. Doflamingo’s free in this verse, but only features in this excerpt in passing. T-rated. Light humour and LawRobin banter after the cut? I hope.
"They're back," Robin said, taking a seat next to Law on the bench seat at one of the communal tables in the house. Koala and Sabo pored over maps, etched out routes, took calls from Revolutionaries underground, from one another.
Law looked up from the paper he was reading, a smile she hadn't seen for a long while across his face. A quiet thing.
Doflamingo was not beyond lying. He made a career out of it, but the barbarity he publicly passed off as Law's just deserts and as proof of Doflamingo's own immaculate character were enough to let her know Law had gone through worse than the feathered bastard detailed. Humans made her sick.
"My crew's here?"
"Ha, not yet.” She sipped her coffee and tapped the back of her earlobe. "All your pretty things are back in their rightful place."
When Shanks and Benn had brought in his bedraggled self he was worse for wear. At least he was conscious this time, though he probably would’ve preferred to have been knocked out. Then again, Law liked control. Of course. Robin understood.
It wasn't comfortable to see him bruised and marked, and the ugly new tattoo, but the lack of earrings rattled her the most. Even rousing from a bed-rumpled nap, they'd offset his cranky just-woken face. Usually she didn't pay the hoops much mind, but it was wrong to see him without them. Almost as if Doflamingo or whoever had shaved off his goatee or scrubbed him free of ink.
Law returned to his paper, turned the page.
He ran a finger along a column outlining Tony-ya's latest medical breakthrough. His tanuki friend was amazing.
"Your clothes don't look bad but they're not really you," Robin said, assessing him with a frown, gaze dropping to his hand. Some of his ink seemed coloured in. Law continued to read. "It's why I'm so happy that you're sporting your primitive body modification trinkets again."
"My doohickeys."
"Your thingamajigs."
Law had a tiny dimple, an indentation, when he smiled. It usually passed off as a wrinkle, a blemish, vexation. It twitched.
"That's why I hoped my crew was back."
"They have a supply of captain-only clothes?"
"In a way."
"Why's it only you that gets the chance to be cool?"
"Saves on the laundry." Law licked his thumb and turned the page. Luffy and Ussop grinned out at him. He closed the paper, folded it, and pushed it to the centre of the table. Turned to Robin. "I'm honoured you'd consider me cooler than Bepo."
"Let's not get carried away."
Law slumped. "Yeah. No-one's cooler than Bepo." How could he compete?
He extended his arm. Ah, he was open to that. Robin moved in and felt his pulse beating strongly under his skin, his blood skating about. It was a relief.
She hugged him so he had to fight for breath.
"Put away your extra arms, Nico-ya."
She did but not her actual arms.
"Hug me back, you bastard." Her hair shone as blue-black as his own under the bald light of the meeting room.
"You've got me pinned."
She released her arms and re-established them once she felt his own arms around her. His grip was firmer than she expected and he rested his head on her own. His breath was steady, and pain rose along with that which floated away.
"Oi, oi! What would Franky say?" Sabo called out, glancing up from the compass he stilt-walked across the map in front of him.
"Don't sweat it, bro," Franky called from an adjacent room. "Law and I are in an open relationship."
"You brought my boyfriend here?" Law laughed into Robin's hair. "And then hugged me in front of him?" Words for her only. She didn't say anything. Just squeezed him tighter. Stupid surgeon.
I’d put this excerpt at a T-rating, but the actual story is a definite E-rating with a lot of trigger warnings. Hope this moment of warmth came across though. Thanks for reading.

My Heart Remembers You
Warnings: angst, hanahaki, memory loss, mentions of death
Word Count: 1800
A girl smiled his way, calling out his name before her voice began to slowly fade, her beautiful smile fading shortly after. Sabo woke up, staring at the ceiling for a moment, one arm resting above his head, the other resting on his chest, hand clenched into a fist over his heart. This always happened when he had a dream about ‘her’. He’d always had gaps in his memory, particularly of the time before he joined the army, but this one had never made sense. A gap in his memory during his time in the army. Even after his memories returned, the gap remained, images of a beautiful girl in his dreams that faded shortly after waking, and a tightness in his chest and feeling like something was missing. He’d brought it up with a few people, but nobody ever seemed to give him any answers. Dragon merely dismissed it as meaningless dreams and a side effect of a head injury during a mission, Hack simply shrugged and told him ‘good luck with that’, Koala was the closest he’d ever gotten to answers. She’d gotten a sad look in her eyes, unable to hide things from her friend, though all she’d said was that he was overthinking things. Still, it had him looking into it whenever he had a free moment. He didn’t get a lot of free time, but enough to look through a few books here and there. Not that he knew what to look for. He’d tried looking up the meanings of dreams, recurring dreams, and head injuries but hadn’t found anything that helped him yet. Getting out of bed, he looked at himself in the mirror, looking over the various scars covering his body. The burn scars were the most prominent, a few bad cuts or bullet wounds here or there, but the one that always caught his attention was the one on his chest. Sustained during the same mission that wiped his memory, Dragon said. But it didn’t look like something an enemy would do. If they’d attacked his chest, why not just kill him? Why make it look like they’d cut him open? Why make it look almost like a surgery? He ran his thumb over the scar, feeling his heart ache more. What was missing? What was it that he couldn’t remember? That had his heart squeezing so tightly. After a couple minutes, he finally got dressed, he had the day off, meaning he could go through the library and flip through books again, desperately searching for answers. He’d told the others that he was researching something else, he didn’t want to risk them knowing that he was looking into whatever had happened to him. He could tell they were hiding something from him and he didn’t want them trying to stop him or hiding the information away.
It was hours later, sitting among piles of books, sighing hopelessly that he looked up at the time. He’d missed lunch, too busy reading to think about his stomach. One more book before dinner, he had time to look through one more book. Picking up a book off the stack, he scoffed a little. Mythological diseases. He’d been so busy grabbing any book that might have something that he hadn’t even thought about the ridiculousness of the book. Opening it, the book fell open to a bookmarked page. The page was marked with a picture, the word ‘Hanahaki’ written in bold letters across the top of the page. Picking up the picture, he looked at the beautiful young woman that stared back at him, his heart suddenly clenching. He didn’t even notice the tears that ran down his cheeks until they hit the photo, the blond quickly wiping them off the picture. He couldn’t ruin it, he didn’t know why, but he couldn’t ruin this beautiful photo. Looking back at the page of the book, he took a deep breath, starting to read the entry. This picture was bookmarking the page and whoever it was in the picture, they were important to him, meaning that this entry had to be important. Flipping the page, he found a couple flower petals trapped between pages, his brow furrowing as he picked them up, more emotions stirring in him. Something about the petals made him feel sick to his stomach, yet he couldn’t figure out why. Finally snapping the book closed, he picked up the photo and the petals, hurrying out of the library. He had proof now, something had happened to him and he was going to confront Dragon about it.
Barging into Dragon’s office, he slammed the items on the man’s desk.
“You’ve been lying to me! Something happened to me! Something that wasn’t related to the army, something related to this girl!” he shouted, shoving the photo towards Dragon, “I was in love with her, wasn’t I? The book says Hanahaki can only be cured in a couple of ways. I… I got the surgery, didn’t I?!” he demanded, watching as Dragon sighed in defeat.
“Where did you find all of this? Why were you looking through this book?” the man asked calmly, only making Sabo angrier.
“I’ve always known something was off! I knew that you weren’t telling me everything so I looked into it myself! Tell me the truth!” he demanded once more, watching as Dragon looked at the photo solemnly.
“You’re right, we did hide it from you. We knew you wouldn’t remember her, so we tried to erase her. We didn’t want to risk what might happen. Would you remember her? Would the flowers return? Fall back in love with her? There were too many variables, too many possibilities. So she was wiped from our records, the army was instructed to never speak of her for your sake, and we tried to make it like she never existed here.” Dragon admitted, making Sabo look at him in a mix of betrayal, heartbreak, and disbelief.
“Why? Why would it be so bad if I remembered her? What happened?” Sabo asked, tears starting to gather at the corners of his eyes. Another sigh from Dragon, the man looking down at his desk.
“I suppose…. The short answer is that she died. She died before you got the chance to tell her how you felt.” Dragon said. Suddenly Sabo felt sick, his stomach churning, he didn’t remember this woman, but he could feel it, he knew he’d once loved her and somehow, hearing about her death was still horrifying.
“How… what… What happened to her?” Sabo asked quietly, needing to know the full truth. Dragon sighed again, lacing his fingers together as he stared down at the items on his desk.
“She was on a mission when you coughed up your first petals, one that wouldn’t allow den den mushi contact. So you, Koala, and Hack went out to find her, we needed to cure you and you refused to have the surgery at the time… you blamed yourself at first, you refused to get the surgery because you thought you deserved it for what happened to her.” he said.
“What did happen?” Sabo asked hesitantly.
“She died. She was caught by the marines, the way you told it to me when you returned, you said that your presence tipped them off, she died fending them off, letting the three of you get away… the way Koala tells it…” Dragon let out another sigh, you’d been close to so many people, many of the members of the RA had felt your absence after your death, “Koala said that the marines must have already suspected something, she held them off, told you that she’d join you once she was done with something… she never met up with you at the rendezvous point. The three of you found some quick disguises and looked for her but all you found was blood where you’d last seen her. You held out hope that she was just taken away, we searched for her while your symptoms worsened.” Dragon hesitated, glancing up at Sabo, noticing how distraught the blond already was, but he’d already started telling the blond, he might as well finish, “eventually we heard that she’d been killed, when we told you the news, you tried to tear out of here, shouting that if there wasn’t a body then she wasn’t dead. I was forced to knock you out. We held a meeting to decide what to do, your condition would only get worse and worse, even if we continued the search and there was no guarantee. So we put it to a vote and gave you the surgery.” the man finished.
“What… What about you? What did you decide?” Sabo asked, a tempest of emotions swirling within him. How could they do that to him? How could they just decide that for him? At the same time, it sounded like they’d saved his life. But what about the girl? Was she truly gone? He’d never gotten to find out, had they continued the search even though Sabo didn’t remember?
“I abstained. I was concerned for you, I didn’t want you to die, but I didn’t want to force you to get the surgery either. It was the only time in the history of the RA that we’ve ever forced anything upon someone. Surprisingly, your will to live without her was still strong and despite the severity of your condition, you survived with minimal scarring. I searched for her for sometime after, kept it off the records. I never found any trace of her, even rumors of Impel Down came up empty.” he finished, looking away as Sabo fell to his knees, tears running down the boy’s cheeks in waterfalls.
“Is… Is it possible though?” he choked out, holding back the sobs and wails that threatened to spill forth from his mouth, “Is it possible that she’s still out there? Somehow, somewhere, still out there.” Sabo asked, silently pleading with the universe that it was possible. He didn’t remember you, by all accounts, he shouldn’t remember his feelings for you, but something in him still yearned for you. Dragon was silent, unsure of how to answer.
“I honestly don’t know. Logically, no. There’s just no way, we’ve searched nearly everywhere for her… but I’ve held out hope that by some miracle, she’d return.” he finished. Sabo just nodded, he didn’t know who you were, he didn’t know your name, he didn’t know anything about you, or rather, he didn’t remember anything about you, but his heart seemed to remember for him, even if it shouldn't, bleeding for you as he slowly got up before making his way to his room. He’d lost you, he’d lost you and he hadn’t even known it. Now he wondered if he could continue on without you.

How ASL Bros React To Getting Married To You
A/N : well, I reallyyy want to write a nice long fic but like.. life man. I’m on spring break and have work all week and with my sleep problems 😭 just enjoy this please c:
Summary : what the asl brothers wedding would be like.
-
Luffy
“Woah! You look awesome, [Name]!”
So cheery and wholesome.
Zoro is his best man, ( much to Sanji’s dismay )
EVERYONE is there, every single person he’s ever met is there so it’s crowded and you basically had it outside, in Foosha Village, though he wanted it to be on the ship.
All of the girls Luffy’s met is responsible for your appearance, they all helped you on your big day.
Some of the marines were invited, of course.
Luffy’s best mans/groom mans ( idk) ( other than Zoro ) consists of Sabo, Ace, Sanji, Usopp, Franky, Brook, Law, Shanks and Koby.
Your bridesmaids consist of Nami, Robin ( maid of honor ), Perona, Tashigi, Vivi and Makino. ( shirahoshi and others didn’t have too much room to stand by you because of the guests so they just sat in their respective seats.)
Before it officially started, there was a lot of tension so separation in seats were needed. Big Mom’s crew is sitting on the left back, Marines in the front right, Law’s, Kid’s and Shanks and other pirates are put in the right back, and everyone else Luffy knows is in the front right.
Few are still in shock because of the fact that LUFFY is getting married before them.
A lot of yelling and laughter from everyone is around but as soon as the classic music is playing in the background, everyone shuts up and turns to face the back, where you’re walking with Garp.
Old man Garp is the one taking you, and even he is full of tears from the fact that his own grandson is getting married.
“You take care of my dumb ole’ grandson, you hear? If he ever becomes too much of an annoyance, just knock him a few times in the head.”
And when you finally reach him, everyone is quiet and has the proudest smiles on their faces. Their Luffy is all grown up.
His bright, radiating grin is plastered and he is pretty overwhelmed but right now, you’re distracted by his handsome look in his suit.
Of course, he has shorts instead of long dress pants but he still looked handsome regardless.
Vows are said, rings are given and you smile at Luffy as the minister ( Sengoku ) questions your commitment.
“Do you, [ Name LastName ] take this complete fool, Monkey D. Luffy, as your everlasting husband and, future pirate king?”
Chuckles are heard, and you couldn’t suppress a giggle either. “I do.”
“I see. I wish you luck on this journey. Luffy, you may now kiss the bride.”
Claps are heard around as Luffy grins. “About time!” He cheers and pulls you by your hands, quickly smashing your lips together in a kiss.
“Congrats, Luffy!”
“Not bad, Straw Hat.”
“Where’s the beer? Time to party!”
“Alright, Luffy! Woo!”
Music is quick to break out as everyone is celebrating and cheering.
You and Luffy already cut the cake, ( it took you a lot of force to make Luffy not shove his face in the cake and just CUT IT. )
The giant cake made by Sanji and the Big Mom family, was shared for everyone and there was still plenty left.
And it was just a fun time with everyone. You even threw your bouquet(?) behind you already and it seems the next to be wed was Tama!
Clearly some of the women weren’t too happy to see the little grow becoming married before them but it was a nice laugh.
The night goes on and it’s getting late. Guests are leaving after wishing the two of you well and you two head in for your suite that Nami booked as her present.
“It feels normal. I thought this was some big special thing, why is it such a big deal again?” Luffy questions, forgetting what the girls had told him the several nights before about weddings.
You smile gently and set the last wrapped gift to the side with the others, taking a glance at the shimmering ring on your left hand.
“Because,” you spin around and face your husband, reaching over and taking off his straw hat that he kept on.
“It swears our connection and commitment to each other. Why do you think Shanks married Makino, despite their long distance relationship?”
Luffy offers his gentle smile, seemingly more relaxed at the mention of the two of the most important people in his life, out of many.
“Because they love each other?” He guesses calmly, tilting his head and you nod, giggling at his black hair that swayed.
“And I love you.” You whisper, leaning closer and felt Luffy’s arms enveloping you in a tight hug, his face nuzzling into your neck.
“I love you, [Name].”
And he leans back, connecting his lips on yours.
-
Ace
“Oh..wow..”
Oh boy, did the Whitebeard crew go BIG.
I have a feeling that Ace would want something a little normal or smaller perhaps, just inviting his personal friends and family, and maybe a few people he met along the way of his journey.
He’s a friendly, outgoing person but for a personal occasion, it’s best to stick with the people you’re closest to.
But he wasn’t complaining when he saw the large äss party, feast and the important people in his life showing up.
Sabo, Luffy and his crew, Shanks, Makino, all of his brothers, members of his old crew, Garp, he was thrilled to see everyone!
The wedding was held on Whitebeard’s ship, of course. It wasn’t too fancy or grand but still pretty large and the ship was right in the middle of the sea.
Ace is all dressed up handsomely in his suit, with the help of Marco, Vista and Izo. His hair isn’t too messy and just styled neatly.
You were dressed beautifully in your gown/suit, with the help of the nurses, Nami, Robin and Izo.
There was a bit of trouble with seating but naturally, many people stood up anyways and were quite busy throwing confetti and other things at you, even if it was a wedding.
Whitebeard is taking you down the aisle, it’s a little bit difficult but he still did, and you can bet he’s excited to have a daughter/son that will help watch over Ace’s dumbass self.
“Rough him up real good, take good care of my stupid son. And call me Pops!”
When Ace sees you walking down, he’ll admit, he’s teary. He’s actually found love, someone like him.. and he’s about to be married to you, the most amazing, attractive, and sweetest person he’s met.
You look so amazing in your outfit, he’s in tears. He’s so lucky.. Marco has a hand on his shoulder and patting his back. “Congratulations, Ace. You deserve this.”
Wiping his tears with his finger, he nods and exhales, holding the widest, warmest smile he could muster.
He was going to love you and protect you all of his damn life, that’s for sure.
The minister is actually Vista! Ace’s best man is Marco and his groomsmans all include Thatch, Luffy, Jozu, Izo, and Haruta!
“Do you, [Name Lastname] take this young kid as your loyal, lawful and everlasting husband?”
“Really?” Ace pouts at Vista’s joke and chuckles are heard, even yours.
“I do, Vista. I’ll make sure he grows.” You giggle as Ace sighs in exasperation.
“Very well. I now pronounce you husband and wife, Ace, kiss your damn bride already.”
“My pleasure.” Ace grins and he’s quick in pulling your wrist towards him, and spinning you into a dipping motion before connecting your lips together in a kiss.
Whistles and catcalls are heard as loud cheers and applause are made.
“Go Ace!”
“Alright, Fire Fist!”
“Better not lose her, Ace!”
Ace rolls his eyes at the comments from his brothers and pulls you back up with a smile. He’s a little glad he didn’t fall asleep midway because of his narcolepsy.
Party immediately breaks out, Sanji aids Thatch in the kitchen to bring out everything and it’s a long night of dancing, boozing and more.
Ace is just off with the guys, having fun and celebrating while you are off with the women, talking about experiences and such.
And when Ace finally finds you and pulls you two away to his room for some alone time, he pulls you close.
“Well, Mrs. Fire Fist, what do you want to do first?~”
His arms are around your waist as he secures you towards him, a cheeky smile on display on his face.
“Not sure, what did you have in mind?” Playing coy, you shrug and tilt your head, turning away from his face which he pouts and uses his hand to force his back to him.
Pecking your lips, Ace smiles again and leads you to his bed. “I have an idea, if you’re up to it?” He wiggles his brows, making you laugh.
He jumps onto the bed, pulling you with him so you were on top. “Well?”
“Oh! Cuddles, I get it! Sure, I’m tired anyways.”
Ace groans at you, heaving a sigh and he whines. “Come on, [Naaamee]!”
You just giggle and sit up, repositioning yourself on his lap and straddled him. “Fine, fine. You’re lucky it’s our special day today.” You hum.
“Oh? So you don’t want to do this after today is over?” Ace muses, smirking a bit since he knew the answer.
You puff your cheeks out at the thought of not having sex with Ace anymore, but you weren’t going to back down. “..Nope!”
Knowing the truth, Ace chuckles and begins to grind upwards into you.
“Alright, I guess I better make this a special memory to remember.”
-
Sabo
“You look incredible, [Name]..”
The most average, normal one. It’s traditional, smaller than most would be, and it’s for personal guests only.
So close members of the revolutionary army, his brothers, Garp and Makino were the only ones invited. If Luffy wanted, he could bring his crew but that’s it!
It’s traditional, so it was held inside a chapel, of course. It wasn’t anything special, everything was set up already and prepared for a small group so it was great.
Sabo is in a dashing, handsome suit like Ace was, but somehow has a much more charming, princely appearance. He helped himself in the appearance, with smallest help of Inazuma.
Your dress too! Somehow it’s more Royal appearing and your veil resembles a crown in a way. Koala and Iva helped you out in this!
Sabo’s best man is actually Ace! The strongest brotherly bond overpowered the thought of having Kuma, Iva or Luffy as a best man, but fortunately, they didn’t seem to mind, since they were groomsmans anyways. Iva being both bridesmaid and groomsman.
Ace was pretty teary and honored, and felt so excited.
The one who takes you down the aisle is Dragon. He’s a little awkward about it at first but he is quite proud of Sabo, even if he doesn’t openly show it.
“Take good care of him, alright?”
“I will.” You assure, thanking him when you finally reach the point of Sabo’s side.
The whole time, Sabo is staring at you in awe, feeling speechless. How did he manage to get someone as beautiful and wholehearted as you?
He can’t contain his wide grin and excitement, his hands just a hint clammy from the nervousness of possible rejection. But he knew you loved him. Because he loves you.
“Someone looks handsome.” You whisper in a giggle and Sabo chuckles. “Not compared to the beauty you have right now.” He winks.
The minister is actually Kuma, of course. Kuma was the obvious choice. Kuma took the position with gratitude.
“[Name Lastname]. Do you take Chief of Staff Sabo, as your lawful, loyal and everlasting husband?”
“I do.”
“Congratulations. I now pronounce you husband and wife, Sabo, please do the honor of kissing your bride.”
Sabo is the most natural approach, taking a step forward and cupping your cheeks in his hands and pulling you forward, for a kiss.
Cheers and applause are made and heard, and Luffy, being the brother he is, pulls out a loud confetti popper and pulls it, it shooting it out everywhere like fireworks.
“Congratulations, you two!”
“Alright, time to get drinking!”
“Better not let this get in the way of your missions..”
“Luffy, how’d you even get that?!” Sabo widens his eyes and he laughs. “Franky made it for me! He said it’ll be super, for the wedding!”
“Geez..”
You can’t help the laugh that escapes your lips and Sabo finds himself laughing alongside you and the whole place is soon filled with laughter and cheer.
It’s a small family party but it was still pretty chaotic regardless, and Sabo makes sure to take you outside for some fresh air when it becomes nighttime.
“Hey, feeling okay?”
Taking a seat on the bench nearly, Sabo sits beside you and you nod, immediately leaning into his shoulder.
“It’s overwhelming, I guess..” the warm smile that spreads your lips is contagious as he does the same when he sees it. “But,”
You take a look at your ring finger, that held the beautiful silver ring and diamond. “I couldn’t be happier with today. I’m married to the love of my life.”
Sabo smiles gently and closed his eyes, leaning against the backrest and let the moonlight light against his face.
“I am, as well. I couldn’t be any luckier to be married to you now..” taking your hand in his, he intertwines your fingers and brings your hand up to kiss.
He kisses your ring finger specifically and hums.
“Thank you.. for being with me.. I love you, [Name].”
“Of course. Thank you for being with me. I love you, Sabo.”

So, uh it's low-key triggering warning, I hope you don't mind? May I please ask of ASL brothers with a s/o that hates arguments?, I can see them losing their cool and be stubborn, their s/o only giving silent treatment and ignoring them, only will forgive them if they apologized, and them finding out (your choice like Robin, Marco, Koala) that their s/o hates arguments because of her past trauma, because her parents always argued over stupid things and making it worse (like spitting away, her being forced to be taken away), it's basically based on my real life experiences. I hope this ain't too much 👉👈 I just need a comfort from these three
Please know, I apologize from the bottom of my heart that, that had happened to you. Children should never be put in between parents or forced to pick sides. What happened to you is valid and know that it is perfectly fine to not like arguments.
I hope things get better for you love, and please know you have people who love you!💗💗💗
Going to add a TW just in case for mentions of arguments and trauma responses.
Babes Below~!
Portgas D. Ace
He’s not one for arguments himself, he hates the feeling of raising his voice and appearing threatening to you. However, that doesn’t mean you two won’t argue, despite what both of you might believe, it is healthy in some ways to dispute your opinions to one another. How you two handle the matter though, can make it unhealthy.
You knew he was stubborn, one of the reasons why you fell for the fiery man, you only wished he would care about himself more and not throw his life away so easily. This led to the discussion at hand, in the end, Ace had stood his ground while you shut down.
The brunet figured he won the argument and you understood his reasoning, unbeknownst to him however, you were sitting in your own head, reeling things out that happened years before you met the man. It seemed to be going like this for days, the man first expected you were mad at him and had let it go, but now he was truly concerned for your wellbeing. Seeing you apologize more, and not even talk to others, he knew something was going on, but didn’t know what.
He wanted to ask you, but couldn’t find the words to question your behavior. He figured he must have messed up pretty badly and you were done with him, leaving him to want to avoid you more (can’t break up with him if you can’t find him-). It wasn’t until a large hand was placed on his head one evening that the brunet finally discovered what the cause was. Being the doctor of the ship, Marco was quick to fill in little bits of what had led you to this point in life. Feeling his heart ache, knowing he left you alone all this time, Ace quickly made his way to your room.
By the time you opened your door at the loud and insisted banging, Ace had greeted you with watery eyes and snot running down his nose. Quickly throwing himself in your arms he apologized, finally seeming to break you out of your mute spell.
“I’m so sorry.”
Sabo
Unlike Ace, Sabo has no problem telling you when he disagrees. He will do it in a polite way, of course, but don’t expect him to just agree to whatever you say. He’s the second most stubborn out of the three (can you guess who the first is-?), so he will be a tough one to turn around unless you convinced him it was the right way of thinking.
I can only see him truly arguing however, over something to do with the Rebels, as in perhaps sparing a life or arguing over saving a comrade. He holds these values the most highest and you cannot change his mind otherwise.
He’s the first to walk away, refusing to allow himself to get mad at you at the point he might act like his biological family. He leaves to cool down, still doesn’t understand nor tries to your side, rather he finds more reasons why his side is correct. As for you, the feeling of him walking away reminds you of your own family, seeing a parent leave and to never come back. It left you broken hearted and ruined, leaving you to Koala who listened to your helpless cries of not being good enough.
He won’t apologize and doesn’t expect you to either, he feels both sides are truth in their own rights, and that both of you need to compromise. When he finally went to talk to you about your argument, he was greeted with Koala, lecturing him about leaving you without discussing why, making you believe he wasn’t coming back.
Leaving the girl while in mid-talk, he finds you curled up in Koala’s room, still crying. Seeing you in such a state, reminded the blond of his own child-self, who was also abandoned. Reaching out to you, his own voice faltered.
“I didn’t mean for you to feel like this.”
Monkey D. Luffy
Most stubborn person in the world! If you called him stubborn, he would probably deny it! The type to cross his arms and turn his head away as he pouts! So it’s no surprise you eventually shut down around him, however, the brunet struggles with recognizing things around him and will go about his day with no issues, forgetting about the argument all together by the end of the day.
Everyone else in the crew can tell something is off between you two, but Luffy continues to act (or not realize-) nothing is wrong. Chopper, being the kindhearted soul he is, reached out to you first.
You felt guilty expressing your thoughts to the reindeer, but also knew you couldn’t hold it in any longer. Expressing your fears that he doesn’t need you like you thought he did, and worse he never did. The reindeer reassured you and left you to get some quiet time while he discussed what you had said to Robin and Nami, feeling they were the best to help.
Nami quickly goes into big sister mode, and punches the rubber man, before yelling at him for being insensitive. Robin waits quietly as the brunet gets a much needed whipping from his navigator. Once she feels he had enough, she explains the importance of relationships and resolving arguments.
Luffy seemed confused at the words, but finally understood when Robin explained how it felt for him being ignored or unvalidated for wanting to be a pirate by Garp. Finally feeling the need to discuss what happened between you two, the brunette placed his hat on your sullen head before speaking quietly.
“I’m sorry for not hearing you.”

Slow & Steady [P2] [Sabo x f!reader] (+18)
Genre : Romance - Smut - Bestfriends to lovers General warnings : Alcohol consumption - Dark themes - Swearing - S m u t - possessiveness - Mention of ex-relationships - jealousy
A/N : This is really different from my usual writing style but I am experimenting. Please tell me your thoughts and don’t hesitate to ask to be added to the tag list :) AO3 : https://archiveofourown.org/works/31877203?view_full_work=true
In the last chapter -- «-Enough playing now, you're going to sleep. -B-but ! This wasn't what I asked for....You're really a coward after all...You virgin... » He carried you to his room, putting you on the bed and sitting next to you. «-I'd love to prove you wrong. However, it would be better if you were in a state where you'd be able to recall how good I am. If you want me to fuck you this badly then maybe ask me when you're sober.
Part I - Part II
Part II -Yeah yeah...Pff..You're no fun Sabo. Things were finally getting interesting ! »
He smiled seeing that you were now calmer. You started to yawn and bury your face in his pillow. He loved to see you getting so comfortable in his room. He really needed a cold shower after your little show. -Goodnight (Y/N). I'll sleep on the couch. You can get comfortable. -Are you crazyy ? You gonna leave me alone like this ? Let's sleep together~ -Come on (Y/N), you're a big girl. You could sleep alone for one night, would you ? Translation : I don't want to spend the whole night with a semi. And you're dangerously flirty, and I have wanted you for years and now I have to abstain.
-Pleaaaase. You said looking at him with puppy eyes. He rolled his eyes placing a hand in his hair. God.damn.it.
You won again. Like every time. * * * You opened your eyes hardly next day, feeling something hard against your thigh. You looked at the ceiling
Oh...I am not in my room...Where the fuck am I ?
you turn around only to discover the embodiment of Adonis to your side. A light beam was lighting up Sabo's face. He looked like an angel as his beauty couldn't be that of a human.
Was he always this handsome ?
You didn't know, in fact, you have never had the occasion to wake up in his bed. Wait, in his bed ? This realization came slowly as your head was still foggy from yesterday's consumption.
You looked down, the thing that was pressing against your leg was indeed :
his thing.
You frowned, blushed, pulled away, put a hand on your lips repressing an internal scream, all of this in around three seconds. You then tried to calm down, telling yourself that it was very normal for a man to experience this kind of morning unconviniences, and that Sabo was a man, after all. Even if you have always seen him as a bestfriend, he was still a man that is capable of physical attraction.
Now that this internal monologue was done with, you felt a bit calmer, but that didn't answer your question. You got out of bed, trying to recall what happened after going in the bar. And it came back. All of it. Without any mercy for your feelings.
You wanted the ground to swallow you whole. Your only wish was to disappear which meant : calling Nami. You headed out of the house, not even having the courage to face your bestfriend.
« Namiiiii -Uh ? What's the matter ? -I fucked up. I fucked up really bad. -Oh yeah ? Tell me about it. -Wait, why do you seem excited ? -O-oh I'm not excited. Come on tell me. What else could you have possibly done ? -I asked Sabo to fuck me. -Wait what ? You could hear Vivi ask Nami about what happened and her answering « She asked Sabo to fuck her ». -Nami ! Don't go on telling everyone about this. I'm on my way. -For starters, Vivi isn't « everyone », she's my girlfriend. And I'm here waiting for you to tell me what happened. -Wait, I'll come at your place. This can't be discussed over the phone. »
You hung up on her. Ten minutes later, you were at her place. Extremely confused. Nami was painting her nails bright red on the bed while Vivi was sitting comfortably on a chair. You let your whole body weight fall on a lounge pug, tourmented. «-So tell me how you and Sabo ended up fucking. She emphasized the last word in a way that made you almost choke on air. -We didn't actually. Nami and Vivi both sighed in a synchronized « Ah » of disappointment. -So hmm...I don't remember clearly. I was really drunk-- well that you're aware of and...And Sabo didn't want to leave me alone so we went to his place. Ace was at Thatch's so we were alone. We hugged and he comforted me. Then I started teasing him, and I don't know what I was thinking, but I kissed him, and then I asked him to fuck me. -Wow that escalated quickly. Said Nami as she continued painting her nails.
-Well, I was heartbroken, I needed something, someone, and he was there, and you know Sabo, he's a good guy ! I don't know what's worse, the fact that I asked him to fuck me or the fact that he said no.
-Oh god I'm so so sorry
- Nami please don't make things worse for me.
-No offense, but you're so dense. Sabo has always been into you. Do you want him, or do you not ? I know that going right into a relationship after a breakup is a bad idea. But honestly it's worth giving it a shot. He's a really good guy. Try dating someone nice for once.
-I don't know, he has something unsettling about him. Like « almost too good to be true » you know ? Added Vivi.
-Ohhh~ I see. Honestly, I always thought that he was a bit prude and hella vanilla. I mean, yes, he's my best friend. But he has never talked about girls to me or about sexual stuff. So I just assumed that. I never thought that he'd be packin' like that. You said as you popped a lollipop in your mouth.
-Ah ? Was it really that impressive ? asked Nami, genuinely curious.
-Yeah. On a scale from 0 to doflamingo he's a solid eight point seventy five. (*)
-Oh gosh. I understand why you're so worked up now.
-That's really...precise. Added Vivi, a bit horrified.
(*) [ The dear reader might need this clarification ; Doflamingo was Law's uncle, he sometimes came to pick him up after uni with his luxurious lamborghini. He wore extremely tight pants that left little to the imagination. And he was most known among your clique for having a nine incher. It was a running joke wether to know if Law got his uncle's genes. Needless to say that this joke wasn't to Law's taste. Now back to our adorable Y/N. ]
-So. I really don't know what to do. I am still heartbroken. -And horny. Added the ginger. -Yeah, that too. I'm afraid of ruining our friendship. -Listen dear, said Nami as she was closing the nail polish bottle, if you're not going for it, someone else would. And trust me, that girl Koala is upping her game. She's going to steal him right in front of your eyes, just like this - and she snapped her fingers. -Oh, and then, you can forget about being « best friends ». Said Vivi adding fuel to the fire. -Yeah, once he's gonna start dating, he won't have too much time for you-- and then, that Koala girl, my god, she seems extremely possessive ! -No way, your voice was detached, trying to act is if you weren't worried, Sabo has never dated any girl before.- -Yes but he seems to get along with that girl. And to be honest, she's kinda cute.
-Nami ! Vivi pinched her forearm playfully, pretending to be jealous.
-That hurt ! And don't be jealous, you know that you're my only one~
-Hmm...I prefer that. Vivi laughed. You started caughing reclaiming for their attention.
-Attention please ! We're discussing my dick-appointment here.
-Jesus you're really annoying, (Y/N), just go for it already.
-How much did he pay you to tell me this huh ?
-What ? He didn't pay me ! You're just always getting your heart broken. I'm just trying to be a good friend.
-Say that you are trying to get rid of her~ Jokes Vivi.
-Vivi, don't expose me like this- Nami plays along while laughing.
-I hate you girls ! You say as you throw a pillow on Nami. The ginger starts complaining that you messed her Nail polish, and the whole scene metamorphosed into a pillow fight.
* * *
You spent the whole day with the girls, chit-chatting about boys and girls and playing stupid games. You felt way more comfortable now, less ashamed. However, you were surprised because you didn't get a message from your bestfriend. You wondered wether he was mad at you, it wasn't in his habits.
You decided to message Ace [click for conversation] [ (Y/N) : Heyy amigo is Sabo ok ? Did he tell u smth abt yesterday ? Ace : Ouch, your hurting my feelings, </3 Only talking to me to ask about my brother~ Yea hes okay why tho ? (Y/N) : Ooo kay. He's home ? Ace : He is. Why don't u directly text him ? (Y/N) : Don't tell him I asked. Btw I didn't forget about those 10 bucks you « borrowed » from me. Give it back.] He didn't answer. You sighed and decided to go see Sabo to settle things down. It was the first time that you were embarrassed to see your best friend. You dressed up in a black skirt and t shirt. You didn't usually pay attention to your looks when you went to hang out at Sabo's, but you were really stressed out and what the girls have said about Koala made you scared of losing him. After all, you had some abandonment issues. You had to settle this down once and forever. You arrived at the guy's place, it was an apartment not so far from your own student flat. You knocked on the door and Ace opened : -Ohhh, (Y/N), he whistles, lookin' like a girl today huh ? -What are you implying you dumbass ? Where's Sabo ? -He's in his room with Koala.- -Wait what ? Koala ? What is she doing here ? Ace raised an eyebrow then said amused ; -I don't know, go ask him yourself. -You're useless as usual. -Always so sweet. You on your period or something ? -I didn't forget about my twenty bucks by the way. -I said I'm goin' to pay you back alright ? Now go talk to Sabo. You and Ace were always teasing each other in a brotherly way, but in reality, he really cared for you, it was just your usual way of communication. But it was true that knowing that Koala was in Sabo's room put you in a bad mood. You knocked on the door with a knot in your stomach. Did they start dating ? Was Sabo interested in her ? These ideas were torturing you. But why did you care anyways ? It was none of your business. He could date whoever he wants. You opened the door but there was only Sabo relaxing on his bed, still fully clothed. « - Sabo ?-Oh, (Y/N), what brings you here ? -Why ? Do I need a reason to see my best friend ? He sits on bed looking at you. He doesn't fail to notice your cute outfit, it was different from your usual sweatpants and hoodies, the way it complemented your figure was almost too much for him. Just that sight was driving him insane, but his face didn't betray his emotions, like always, he acted friendly, not an ounce of lust in his dark ebony eyes. You took place next to him. He smelled good, you thought. The same fresh minty smell as last time. Did he always smell this good ? -(Y/N) ?Huh ? Is everything okay ? His voice seemed concerned. He cared for you. And you had those stupid immature and posessive thoughts. Get a grip of yourself, (Y/N), you thought. -Oh yea-- wasn't Koala here ? Ace told me you were with her.
You tried so hard to act like you didn't care, but he knew you like the back of his hand. But still, he played along. -Hmm..Yes. She just left. I was going out as well. He says with a sweet smile, looking at his watch. You couldn't help but make a disappointed face. -But Sabo I wanted to - I'm really sorry (Y/N), let's talk later. He ruffles your hair and you close your eyes as he does so. You felt stressed out. What happened exactly ? You felt intimidated in his presence for the first time. You wanted him to stay and talk this out. It was a bit awkward for you now. You never thought too much. As he was going out of the room you held the fabric of his coat tight in your hand ; -Sabo- -Hum ? Need me to drop you somewhere ? -N-no. You let his sleeve go, realizing what you have just done, I'll stay a bit then go back home. Don't worry about me. -Alright then. See you later ? -Yeah. See ya. ]
You looked at Sabo go away and you followed him shortly after. Meanwhile Ace was sitting on the couch and watching some movies. You went back home and was quite tormented. It wasn't the right time to worry as you had your assignments and studies to deal with. On one hand, you didn't even have the time to think of your ex boyfriend and his cheating but on the other, you felt like you were let down by Sabo. But why ? He didn't do anything. He just found himself a new friend and a potential new girlfriend.
He didn't even talk about her, but why where you so upset by him meeting her ? After all, he had the right to date just like you always did.
A few days have passed and you didn't get the chance to talk to Sabo. Your exams were getting closer and closer and you didn't feel ready.
Usually, Sabo would help you with your assignments but you were too scared to ask. You realized how much you relied on him and how he has been always there for you.
Who were you exactly to him ?
Maybe you took him for granted.
As you were on your bed looking at the ceiling and trying to collect every drop of motivation in your system to study, you heard your phone ring. It was Sabo's ringtone ! ----- Tag list : @vemuabhi @chloe-abbacchio @mwls-garden @soanywaysistartedsimping If you wanna get tagged just ask for it :)

Chapter 1021 — Demonio
This chapter slaps. Literally.
But first things first; the cover picture is adorable.
Señor Pink’s story was so sad and here he is, having that promised drink with Franky! Super!
And thus commences Robin vs Black Maria for reals.
I really enjoy Black Maria’s dismissiveness. “You think it’ll help if you make yourself bigger? Dream on, girlie.”
Good to see the limits of Robin’s fruit as well! As some suspected, the giant limbs depend on her stamina — and the injuries transfer, as we know already.
I think I mentioned it when Black Maria was occupied with Sanji, but damn if I don’t love an unapologetically violent woman!
Violence is of course never the answer, but I do commend Oda for creating a woman who doesn’t pull her punches.
She also gets bonus points for best flamethrower in the series.
Once more, I love Oda’s pacing and page transitions. Here we have Brook at the end of the page. And when things are looking rough, what is he saying?
That Maria, who seems to be dominating the fight so far, should flee? What is going on?
Side-note; Koala and Sabo are my babies.
AND I JUST LOVE THAT ROBIN’S POWERUP IS AN ACTUAL DEVIL! SHE LIVES UP TO HER EPITETH! This is too great for words, so a picture will have to suffice:
And the horns tie really nicely into the beast pirates theme as well.
And finally; Brook, my man. My Bonny bag o’ bones, my musical muse, my ratty old codger.
This is the best of your attacks; a treble cleft. It is pure beauty and grace. Please keep it up.
In the end, predictions were realised and Luffy magically received a mountain of food. But Momo’s wish is something else..
Poor Shinobu and her protective heart.
Edit: Nice to see that her powers might have a further use than just being played for gags with regards to her age!
We’re living in interesting times!

One Piece Chapter 1021 - Initial Thoughts
Finally, we're going to get our Robin solo fight, it's been a long wait for sure but now it is here
After last week's setup and reveals we've got plenty still left in the tank, so let's get to it
Spoilers for Chapter 1021, Support the Official Release as well
Franky and Senor Pink finally got that drink and talked about Russian in the cover page, even the Bartender was brought to tears
Almost Naked Kaiju Robin (of course she's kept decent by the linings of her kimono) looks to grab and contort Black Maria quickly in this form, since it consumes a lot of stamina to be this big
Maria spots an opening though in that the pain still transfers to Robin's body, so she has a bigger target to do damage
Additionally, Maria is flexible and has poison limbs, paired with the webs entraps Kaiju Robin
The webs also open Kaiju Robin without a defence, and out come Maria's knuckle dusters
After some stiff punches (which Maria isn't holding back on unlike with Sanji when she needed him conscious to call for help), Robin relinquishes the Kaiju
The arms are caught in her web though which apparently are flammable
The Spider face on her lower half (Oda explain pls) can also apparently set things on fire (Oda EXPLAIN PLS)
Arms burned and backed into dodging, Maria gloats at Robin, reasserting her comments about her and Sanji from last chapter
She also tries to bait Brook in, but Brook reminds her not to underestimate a pissed off Robin
Robin flashes back to her Revolutionary Days, as Koala and Sabo want to teach her some attacks - Hack though asserts she can take care of herself
Robin though, happy in their company agrees to let Koala teach her a move, though it's unclear if she learned the Dragon Claw techniques from Sabo
Turns out Robin knows some Fishman Karate too, maybe that's why she wanted to chat with Jimbei so much
Her attack isn't aimed at Maria though, as she tears the roof down to deal with the fire
Ho now...
Whoa jesus, or not jesus quite the opposite
NAKED DEMON KAIJU ROBIN
FULL-ON CHERNABOG HERE
Now Maria feels the fear as the Devil coils around her
That's a lot of limbs that got Clutched
Maria's subordinates have been kept at bay with an Ice Wall too, but they're trying to peer into a small gap to see the outcome
And there it is, Maria felled by Demon Robin, and they've all just lined up to be wasted by Brook
A distant shot of Robin collapsing as Brook tends to her does imply some lingering damage, or loss of clothes, or both
A Mary though...which is weird because Bao Huang controls the Marys, maybe all the other Marys are spying for CP0 - they would definitely move if they think they can grab Robin
Back with Luffy and Caribou has the Niku
Aha Caribou mentioning the boundless storage space for that expectant foreshadowing~
Poor Jean Bart though, he wants to know what's happening to his crew WHILE LUFFY IS EATING, never a good thing Jean
Shinobu though is with Momo from afar advising against their plan
Momo does argue that if he doesn't though, Wano will be done for
Fan Theories were right, Momo's asking her to use her DF to turn him into an adult!
So Robin's fight was great, I was wondering if her title would get a change since she's no longer a child, and it still might since 'Devil Woman' would probably be more fitting now, but turning into a full devil is one hell of a flex
I wonder if there's Haki in that too, though that could just be me being hopeful
That's all the Tobi Roppo done now, well except Drake but he's on our side for now, he's still fighting Apoo too. Plenty of fights are still left; Drake/Apoo, Killer/Hawkins, BM/Kid and Law, Raizo/MegaForehead, Sanji/Queen, Inu/Jack, Kaido/Yamato, plus there's whatever Izo, Kawamatsu, Neko, Perospero, Carrot, Wanda, a rezzed Zoro, King, Marco, Denjiro, Orochi etc. are doing. Plenty of fights to enter the build
I don't hate seeing Momo get a quick age up, especially since his personality won't change, but part of me does feel like it'd be a forced attempt to fit into his father's shadow. Plus being a bigger dragon doesn't mean you should suddenly know how to use your fruit better, unless the plan is to bring more than just Luffy up with him.
But Robin got that valuable W, so that's what counts

Hi hii😙 May I plz have headcanons for Ace, Sabo, and Shanks when their crush reciprocates their feelings but doesn’t mention she likes them because she is very insecure and feels they’re too good for her? Tysm for ur time dear💙
Of course sugar 💖
Ace
-Ace is a big flirt. He flirts with his friends and really believes in platonic PDA. He believes in kisses, hand-holding, and even casual sex between close friends. However, his usually relaxed and flirty demeanor crumbles when he actually has a crush on someone.
-He is a mess after he uses up the three or four one-liners he's practiced in the bathroom. He can't stand silence, so he'll word vomit about the weather or Whitebeard health or whatever. Ace is red-faced and sweating; he kind of looks like he's dying. It's just self-evident that he's a simp.
-So when his crush doesn't respond to his awkwardness or seems awkward back, he just assumes that they don't like him. But then BAM! Sassy bird Marco is here to fix things because if he has to listen to Ace blubber about how (Name) doesn't like him back anymore, Marco will snap.
-Marco manages to rig Seven Minutes in Heaven to get Ace and (Name) alone and to at least talk things out. Sure, it's childish, but so is Ace.
-In a dark closet, it's easier for Ace to admit his feelings. And conveniently, the soft glow of his freckles creates a somewhat romantic mood.
-When (Name) admits that they have feelings for him too, he's astounded. They ignored all of his advances, so this feels a bit out of the left field for Ace.
-Ace is heartbroken (and a little flattered) that (Name) thinks they're not good enough for him. He's the son of two of the most wanted people on the planet, and this sweet, adorable punk-ass thinks they're not good enough for him.
-Ace cannot allow such an injustice. After that, he makes it his goal to make (Name) feel appreciated above all else.
-You deserve the world, Sunshine.
Izou
-Izou is the ultimate parent friend. So when he starts crushing on someone, his behavior is multiplied. He's constantly checking on his crush and hovers a little bit because he knows they haven't been drinking enough water. He can feel it.
-Izou is also very straightforward about his feelings. If there's anything he learned from Kozuki Oden, it's that life is devastatingly short and to love deeply and honestly.
-His confession is a straight foreword. A simple "I have romantic feelings for you, (Name)." That is all he has to offer.
-Izou is not surprised by the initial rejection either, nor is he surprised that (Name) feels inadequate by his side. He already knew all of this and was expecting it.
-A blossom cannot understand its beauty, so they will never know why they have been plucked. But with time and a dedicated garden, my flower may be able to feel their beauty.
Sabo
-Much like Ace, Sabo has a very calm, confident demeanor. Unlike Ace, however, Sabo can keep up this behavior in front of his crush.
-So, it makes it hard to determine if Sabo actually has feelings for someone. Thus his confession takes (Name) by surprise, even if Koala hinted at Sabo's feelings.
-When (Name) feels unsure about being with him, Sabo is hurt. He doesn't understand what the big deal is. He thinks that if (Name) doesn't feel good enough to be by his side, they should work hard till they feel good enough.
-Sabo, of course, gets a reign check from his coworkers because not everyone is a workaholic like he is.
-(Name) and Sabo have a discussion about their feelings over tea. He apologizes and tries to be more understanding of (Name) 's worries. He wants to try having a relationship with them because Sabo thinks their wonderful.
-I wouldn't let you down, would I, Turtle Dove?
Shanks
-Shanks treats feelings in general with a highly complex approach. When he's crushing on someone, everything is all fun and games because he feels good. He feels good in an "I need vomit" kinda way.
-He flirts with (Name) openly and often admits he might be in love with them. However, he does confess in such a way that it feels like teasing.
-So when (Name) laughs off his affections time and time again, it's not good "I need to vomit" feeling anymore. It's a nasty hangover kind of sick. So his tune changes. The flirting comes to a complete halt, and Shanks becomes quieter around (Name).
-While Shanks is sitting alone and (Name) happens to walk by, he grabs their wrist. When they turn to ask him what he needs, Shanks pulls them in close.
-Why do you not take my affections seriously, little Starling

Sabo x Reader | College AU | Long Distance Love (?) | Chapter 5
[1] - [2] - [3] - [4]
the next chapter will be the last one omg i'm already sad
ღ
Two weeks have passed, and Ace started dropping subtle hints about you being jealous of Koala. “Don’t you think (Y/N) will get the wrong idea?” or “if I were her, I’d think you were interested in someone else, and not her.” And it worked, Sabo stopped talking about his friend so much. Until one day, when the blonde mentioned a party on Friday, that he was going with his brother, his friends, and of course, Koala.
It hurt a little because it was supposed to be you, not her.
ꟷ Ok. ꟷ Sabo said, while getting ready and Ace was next to him. The dark haired man looked, waiting for what his brother was gonna say. ꟷ I thought about it, and I won’t need you as a wingman.
ꟷ Why’s that? Is it because I told you to name your children after me?
ꟷ I wouldn't name my children after you anyway. But it's because this weekend, when we go visit her, I’ll tell her how I feel. Doesn’t matter if I’m afraid, doesn’t matter if she might reject me… ꟷ Ace interrupted him.
ꟷ She won’t.
ꟷ At least I’ll stop wondering if she’s really into that other guy or... Into me.
You were at home, and you thought that a good medicine for sadness and loneliness was alcohol. So you got a bottle of wine, chose a sad playlist, got a blanket and everything was set for a very uncomfortable night. Even the weather was cloudy and it was probably gonna rain. Perfect.
You just couldn’t help thinking how it was gonna hurt when tells you that he is dating someone else. More specifically, her.
Nami and Robin came home and found you sad, sitting on the couch in the dark, trying to stop crying, and with a half empty bottle of wine.
ꟷ What happened? Is everything ok? ꟷ the peach haired girl asked, turning the lights on, making you hiss.
ꟷ Nah, but I will be fine. Thank you though. ꟷ you dried your tears, tried to adjust your eyes to the light and put a fake smile on.
ꟷ You’re drinking such a cheap wine. This is gonna do no good, you know? ꟷ Robin said, sitting next to you. ꟷ What happened? Is it about Sabo?
You nodded.
ꟷ He is going to a party with the boys and Koala. ꟷ you said, looking down. It was embarrassing to say it out loud. ꟷ I know it sounds stupid, but it hurts. And I hate the fact that I love him so much and I’m not even able to tell him that. I hate the fact that he probably likes her, and will date her sometime soon.
ꟷ Well, you know what? You’re telling him tonight. ꟷ the brunette replied, getting up and patting your shoulder. ꟷ Let’s go.
ꟷ What? Its an hour away from here, and you know I’m afraid to drive when the weather is weird like that. It can wait until tomorrow...
ꟷ Don’t worry, I got my car keys. I’m driving you there. I can’t stand seeing you like this. This doubt is gonna kill you. ꟷ Robin said, while getting her coat and heading to the car. ꟷ You need to find out if he feels the same about you or not.
ꟷ Yes, (Y/N). You’re gonna freak out if you don’t go there and tell him how you feel. If I were you, I’d rather regret showing how I feel instead of thinking “what if” my whole life. ꟷ Nami agreed. ꟷ Get your hoodie, we’re heading to Sabo’s.
Maybe it was the wine, maybe it was destiny finally trying to help, or the fact you hid your feelings for so long, but you got up, wore your hoodie and went to the car with your friends. You didn't know how you were gonna confess yet, but Robin was right, you had to do it.
It was about an hour drive, but since it started raining, it took a little longer. However, it felt like an eternity. At least, by the time you arrived, no one could notice you were crying before.
Just in time, you caught them apparently leaving to go to the party. Sabo was leaving with Ace, Marco, Thatch and Koala… Ugh, Koala.
ꟷ (Y/N)? ꟷ the blonde saw you sitting in the passenger seat, and asked, surprised and happy. ꟷ What are you doing here? Aren't we supposed to go visit you tomorrow?
You got out of the car before Robin could even park properly. The rain was getting a little heavier. It was cold, but at that point you didn’t even care. You needed to end this torture. It was like a scene from a movie.
ꟷ Sabo, I... I need to tell you something, and it’s so important. I don’t even need you to say anything, but just listen…
ꟷ Ok, but is it something bad? Are you ok? Is your mom ok? ꟷ all this was getting him worried. Meanwhile, Ace just knew what it was about. And I guess the other three friends knew too.
ꟷ I’m ok. I just need to tell you this before I don’t feel as brave anymore. ꟷ you took a deep breath. ꟷ Remember when we were kids and played house or pretending to get married? ꟷ you asked and the boy nodded, confused. What was your point? ꟷ I know they were just a joke, and they became our own little joke while we were growing up… But at some point, and I don’t even remember when, I realized I didn’t want it to be a joke anymore.
ꟷ Wait, what? ꟷ he asked, shocked. That was a little unexpected to him. Not that he was complaining, quite the opposite. He was just surprised.
ꟷ Let me just finish this. ꟷ you interrupted him. ꟷ When we were growing up and I saw you being all protective and caring towards me, I thought “I want a boyfriend just like Sabo someday”, but… I realized I didn’t want a boyfriend like you. I just wanted… You. ꟷ you started to cry, nervous. However, from far no one could notice the tears falling because of the rain. ꟷ If you don’t feel the same, I understand. You don’t have to. But I really hope it doesn’t change our friendship, because I’d rather be friends and hide my feelings, than not having you by my side at all.
No one dared to say a thing. Not only they didn’t want to ruin the moment, but they were paying attention waiting for what the blonde was gonna say, as if it was the last chapter of a dramatic telenovela that everyone was waiting to watch and see what would happen. Would finally the couple end up together after all the odds? Or a sad and heartbreaking end was about to happen?
ꟷ I… ꟷ Sabo finally broke the silence, still a bit confused and thinking of what to say and how to say it. ꟷ I think our friendship will have to change…

Disney Romance - Tangled in the Stars - 200 followers special
Hiii ! Thanks a lot for letting me choose 💕 I would like Tangled with female reader and my Sabo boy 🎂 - @pure-kirarin
A/N : Hey Kirarin chan!! Thanks for the brilliant idea of the 200 followers event. I hope you like this cringe story of mine. Please don’t have any high expectations on it, I may not reach them. I enjoyed writing this story a lot. Please forgive me for any mistakes.
Pairing : Sabo X Fem! Reader
Word count : 2.3 K
Warnings : Angst, fluff, happy ending
Your team were given a mission to infiltrate the base of a well-known Merchant, who was also a kidnapper. To set free all the people who were kidnapped and to hand him over to the revolutionary was your work. But… it felt like, it was already an assigned mission. Brushing the feeling aside, you took on the mission without asking anything else.
Luckily you people achieved success because of your planning. It felt like… it was the first time, your plan was actually implemented, without any ruckus or chaos. But why? Thinking about this, you felt your heart clench and your eyes started to well up.
“Y/N! What happened”, asked Koala as she came towards you. You wiped your tears with your shirt sleeve and gave her a smile. “I feel happy because we completed the mission without any… havoc”, you said trying to brush off the topic.
She kissed your cheek and said, “Aww you are so cute. Btw, we have a break for 3 days before we set sail”.
“Oh that’s great. Do you think there is any-”
“LIBRARY AROUND”, she completed your sentence before you could, making you chuckle. “There is one beside the railway station but, what are you going to read about? The Cursed castle?”, she asked you gaining your complete interest.
“Cursed castle? What is it?”, you asked curiously. Koala raised her eye brow and asked you, “What? You don’t know about that castle? There are so many rumours about that castle”.
“No, can you tell me about it?”, you tugged at her shirt and she closed her eyes and started to think.
“Actually, I’ve heard that there is a place in the forest, where there is a one tower castle. Everyone said that the castle is absolutely beautiful but it is cursed. If an individual steps into the castle, they get cursed”.
“Where is the castle and What is the curse?”, you asked her but she shook her head no and continued, “Sadly, I know nothing more about it”
“Oh… Now I have a even more interesting reason to take a tour of the Library, Thanks Koala”, you said getting up from your place.
“But, what about our shopping, HEY Y/N!!”, she wined
“Rain check”, you said closing the door behind you earning a sigh from her.
You walked quickly towards the library as your heart started to beat faster with each step you took. It was as if you needed to know about it or… like your life depended on it. Reaching the library, you walked quietly into the section of myths of the place. Looking around the shelves about the cursed castle, you found nothing about it. You tried to read and search for anything similar to it, but you found nothing.
“Excuse me, it’s the closing time”, an old woman, who was apparently the librarian, said to you. You looked at the clock and it was 11 pm. Getting up from the place you bowed to the lady and started to walk. Then a closed section of the library caught your eye.
“Sorry mam but, why is this place closed?”, you asked the librarian. She looked at the section and said, “From the time I started working here, it has been closed and no one is allowed in there”.
“Oh… Okay, I’ll leave now. Thanks”, you said and exited the place. After 15 minutes the old lady came out of the library and closed the door. As soon as she left the place and making sure no one was there, you made your way towards the door and opened the lock. Oh c’mon, this lock was a child’s play in front of all the locks that you opened before. Looking back and closing the door silently, you turned the lamp which you held and proceeded towards the closed section. ‘No Trespassing, closed for now’, was written on the door. You raised an eye brow and opened the door as you smirked.
‘The door would be broken by now, if this was read by-’, your thoughts stopped. ‘By whom?’, you thought as you felt the same pain in your heart. You clenched your fist and started to look at the books. They were mostly about the place’s history on the dark side and also the war plans used in the past.
‘Should I give up?’, you thought but again you felt a sting in your heart, as if you were supposed to search for it. You looked at all the books but couldn’t find even a similar book regarding it. You placed the books as they were and turned to leave the place even though your heart felt like it was crying with pain. Just as when you were about to leave, a painting caught your attention.
You went towards it and lifted your lamp to see it clearly. You saw that, it was a painting of a castle. ‘A one tower castle’, you thought as you saw the painting even more carefully. There was a full moon in the sky, the waterfall in the background. The sky was filled with so many stars and when observed carefully, there you saw a guy, with blond hair staring at the stars. For some reason, your heart started to beat faster than usual looking at the man in the painting. Suddenly the man moved and went inside the castle. ‘What the hell? Did he just move?’, freaking out, you took a chair and climbed on it, to touch the painting.
As your hand came in contact with the painting, you got dragged into it. You screamed as you hit the hard surface.
“Ouch! What the…”, you said as you placed your hand on your back and looked around you. It was a beautiful room, coloured with royal gold and had red carpet on the floor.
“WHO ARE YOU?”, you turned towards the voice of the person. Your (eye colour) orbs met with black orbs of a man with blond hair. He was lean and tall, also had a scar on his left eye. Your heart started to beat faster as you looked at him as if you already knew him.
He gulped as he clenched his fists and asked again, “How did you come here? Who are you?”, you blinked your eyes and got up quickly. “I have no idea how I got here. I was in a library looking at a painting one moment and then suddenly I got here”, you said and looked around.
“What happened? Why are you crying?”, he asked you. You didn’t even notice that you were crying till he mentioned, wiping your tears, you said, “It’s.. It’s nothing, I just felt like, you were familiar”.
He exhaled and nodded. “I feel the same, as if we met before, but I don’t know you”
“Is that so… What are you doing here in this castle?”
“I… I think I am the owner of this place. I can’t go out”, he said looking down.
“Oh… Can you show me the exit?”, you asked him hoping to just leave the castle.
“Exit? This place has no exit. I searched but couldn’t find”, he said to your surprise. ‘What the hell is this new problem’, you thought as you looked around.
He walked towards the window and leaned his elbows on the window sill. Looking at the stars he said, “You can’t find it. You won’t be able to. I also want to leave”
“Didn’t you ever think about escaping?”, you asked him as he continued to stare at the sky. “I don’t know. When ever I think about it, I get the question of, why I should even leave?”
‘I don’t know what is happening with this guy but… I guess if I involve, I’ll definitely be in a big problem’, you thought
“That’s pretty lonely stuff right there. What is your name? I’m Y/N by the way”
“I…”, he turned towards you and continued, “Sabo… yeah, Sabo is my name”.
“Oh okay then Sabo, even if you don’t wanna go, I intend to leave. My friends are waiting for me”, you said, ignoring the fact that your heart was beating faster because of him, as if he was the answer, but… to what?
“Friends?”, he asked
“Yeah, So, Sabo… wanna escape if you have a chance?”, you asked him. Why do you want him to come with you? What is this blond man having this effect on you?
“Can I? Are you sure that I can?”, he asked clearly wanting to know the answer.
“Yeah, how about jumping from here for starters sake?”, you ask him but he shakes his head no.
“I tried. I got back here again”, he sighed and continued, “I even tried to destroy the castle but nothing happened to it. It feels like, its mocking me for being the strongest”
He again looked out the window and said, “I don’t know if it’s a riddle that needs to be solved but, I feel like the stars are trying to say something. But I can’t understand what”. You look at the stars and then you see that, some stars are in the shape of the letter ‘J’. You walked towards the window and stood beside him. You remember teaching someone about constellations before. But… who was it?
“You… you are correct. The stars… It’s a constellation”, you replied to him and he perked up with curiosity. You observed the constellation and your hunch was correct. Pointing towards the stars, you said, “See, its looking like a letter ‘J’ if you observe”, he keenly observed and yes it was a visible to him.
“Yes, so what does it mean?”, he asked you and you continued, “Its Scorpius, according to the Greek mythology, it represents the deadly scorpion that kills Orion, the hunter, who was really proud of himself for his hunting abilities. Once there was a hunter, Orion, bragged to kill the animals of the world, but Apollo, sky god, didn’t like his attitude, so he sent a scorpion, who would end the hunter, Orion”, he placed his hand on his head and closed his eyes tightly.
“What happened?”, you questioned him.
“It… it just feels like… someone used to talk with me about constellations before. But I can’t seem to remember”, he admitted and then enquired, “So, why do you think the stars were trying to convey it?”
“I may be wrong but… I feel like, the castle is like the hunter. You said that, it was mocking you. But I feel like, it can be destroyed”, you ended as you took Sabo’s hand in yours and walked towards the centre of the castle. If you weren’t so concentrated to destroy the castle, you could’ve heard how loud Sabo’s heart beat was getting.
You observed that, the celling indeed had designs of Scorpius and Orion on it, with a star between them. Pointing towards it, you said, “Lets aim the star between Orion and the Scorpius”. Without hesitating, Sabo nodded and you both aimed at it and placed a single hit. Suddenly, the castle started to shake and cracks were forming quickly.
“I think we did it”, you said and then gasp suddenly, you felt Sabo pick you up like a princess and run towards the window. “We don’t have all day, Lets jump”, he said before jumping. You hugged him tight and he also did the same.
After you two tightly held each other, you didn’t feel any ground hit you. You both opened your eyes and you both were in the dimly lit, library room, where you were searching for the book and found the painting.
You looked up and saw that, you were still holding Sabo… Sabo, your boyfriend, whom you forgot about.
“Sabo? Why did I forget you?”, you asked him tears threatening to fall from your eyes, as he looks at you. He exhales and looks around the place and then at you again.
“Y/N! Its you. Its you!”, he exclaimed as you hugged you tightly. Pulling back he kissed the tears on your cheeks.
“Why did I forget you? It felt like no one remembered you? You were the one who was assigned this mission. How did this happen?”, you wine and sob at the same time.
“When I reached this place, the merchant wasn’t in town, so we decided to wait to catch him and free the new kidnapped people he would bring with him. But I got to know about this cursed castle and infiltrated this library to find book, that you’d like to read about it. Then I broke this door open and tried to bring the painting to you. Then got stuck in it”, he wiped the tears again from your cheeks and continued, “I didn’t remember anyone from this world, but I swear, I missed you. Thankyou for coming here and saving me, Y/N”, he said as he leaned his forehead to yours.
“I… I missed you too. I felt like there was something missing always. I used to cry without any reason”, you sobbed as he nodded and apologised for making you cry. You both exited the library after a while and headed towards the room you were given, still holding hands.
“You know, we found the merchant and freed the people who were kidnapped. For the first time no one messed up my plan”, you said to him only to receive a chuckle in return.
“Is that so. I hope its enough for this life. Get ready now because, your plans will be disturbed again”, he said making you laugh.
After reaching the room, you and Sabo cuddled next to each other as you both tried to sleep. You both kissed goodnight and slept. The next day, everyone were shocked to see and also remember Sabo. They were so confused at the incident and couldn’t figure out why they forgot about Sabo. You both never mentioned about the incident and the cursed castle painting was destroyed thanks to you two. He was the answer that you were looking for.
XOXOXOXO
I hope you liked it! Thankyou for reading. I am no expert in all the constellations. I just did some research on it. Nothing more. Sorry if I made any mistakes.
