[Updated as of 07/11/23] Reasons why I think Sid is the father
I don’t think other viewers can call fellow Sid-is-the-father theorists delusional anymore. The show is already building up the final contenders and I know in my gut they’re gonna be Sid, Jesse, and Ian. Hopefully we get S4 because I will update this whenever there’s a season break or a season ends.
Possible hints from the show (not the obvious and usually stated ones + not hints that could also apply to other contenders):
- When Sophie enters Pemberton’s to switch phones back with Sid, the engagement party crowd thought she was Hannah
- Sid remembered how much Tinder dates Sophie went on; he paid attention to her well (more on this later)
- Sophie and Sid both experienced relationship problems then found each other at the same time and same place. Sid later gave Sophie advice about finding the right person (funny enough, the advice parallels the situation because Sophie and Sid found each other at the right time to give each other advice)
- Two of Sophie’s by far most important love interests are connected to Sid—Jesse who is Sid’s best friend, and Drew who is a close friend of Sid’s wife
- Sophie remembers the Electric Slide; this time she is proven to pay attention to him
- Sid tells Sophie that he hopes the man she’ll marry will give her a better reception that what he and Hannah have
- If the father isn’t Jesse and Sophie is still married to the father, only Sid would be the perfect candidate to be understanding on why Jesse’s photo is on Sophie’s wall since he is Sid’s best friend
- The father is hinted to have loved Valentine’s Day even before he and Sophie even got together. Unlike the other guys, Sid’s memory for Valentine’s Day was always consistently good. Additionally, when Hannah walked in Pemberton’s to surprise Sid, only Sophie’s reaction was the focus
- Sophie and Sid both remember random facts they found out about each other offscreen; once again solidifying that they do pay attention to each other
- Sid somehow is the only character who has profound or notable interactions with both of Sophie’s parents
- In the episode where Sophie and her father made a popup, she tells her son it’s a story of how she met her father; in this episode, Sid is the only father option to interact with Sophie and her father
- Since we know that Sophie narrates the story, it’s important to note that she often emphasizes Sid’s stories by giving us in-depth insight despite their minimal interactions in episodes before 02x13. While she also does this for her other friends, it’s only Sid’s stories that we actually see play out long. To add, Sophie always paints Sid in a positive light in her stories
- In the disengagement episode, Sid and Sophie are implied to know a lot about each other (Sid knowing Sophie’s lock screen, Sophie knowing the password to Sid’s iPad); this isn’t really a hint but again, recurring theme that they pay attention to each other
- Both Sid and Sophie have this storyline where they are judged for their jobs/careers (and in the same episode)
- By 2x18 we see Sophie’s parents again and it’s Sid who primarily consoles them when they (along with Valentina) follow Sophie into Sid and Jesse’s apartment
- Sophie slowly bonds with Sid as each episode progresses and have more significant plots with him more than with Jesse
- Hannah assumed that Sid emotionally cheated on her with Sophie, and it was without reason. After this scene, we then cut to Sophie
- EDIT: Season 1 also had another cheating conversation between Sid and Hannah where Sophie’s situation with Jesse and Drew was the trigger
- Sophie’s son says that he thought it was a happy story to which Sophie replies it was, but we immediately get Sid crying over Hannah—setting the mood that it wasn’t really a happy night for everyone
- By 2x20 we have finally taken Charlie out as a candidate to be the father of Sophie’s child because it’s been confirmed that he ends up with Valentina (Side note: love this revelation. I was on a fifty-fifty with them but they fit well and love each other); Drew can also be taken out of the equation because of how future Sophie talks about him as a mere catalyst, but since there’s not an official confirmation we can just put him down the list for now
- Once again, it needs to be mentioned that the way Sophie talks about Sid in her story is always in a good light. She talks about the father so fondly and only Sid is the male character who is presented with so much emphasis about his personal life, his goodness, and his ability to have someone stir up their fondness for him
Parallels & Connections with HIMYM/Ted and Tracy:
- Alliteration names (Ted Mosby and Tracy McConnell, Sophie and Sid—if Sid’s last name also starts with a letter “T” like Tompkins then that would be interesting)
- Both are romantics. Sophie is a hopeless romantic who can’t find “the one” like Ted, while Sid is a committed romantic who is (and possibly going to be was) in a longterm relationship like Tracy
- Sophie and Sid swap phones, paralleling the yellow umbrella swap
- Sophie and Sid’s banters are very similar to that of Ted and Tracy’s
- Sid has Ted’s old room
- In connection to a point from the previous section, Sophie painting Sid in a picture that’s so positive and feeling untainted is very similar to how Ted paints Tracy in his stories—perfect, an angel, someone who no one could say something bad about, with great fondness
- Not directly related to HIMYM, but in the original HIMYM spin-off (How I Met Your Dad), the lead character Sally met the dad as she was preparing to get divorced. The script of this scrapped spin-off was reworked into HIMYF. I’m not saying it’s a direct answer, but what if the divorce storyline is gonna go to HIMYF’s only married main character father option?
- Sophie and Sid both play detective in 2x19. In HIMYM, Ted and Tracy have this running gag that they loved sleuthing
- Both Sophie and Ted went through all the lengths to get with Jesse and Robin, respectively. When Ted met Tracy he didn’t have to work so much, he just let it happen. Both shows work with a philosophy on how love is hard but loving is supposed to be easy. Both Robin and Jesse have complicated love lines with Ted and Sophie, respectively
Also if it’s any consolation, I previously took a film course for my major. So while I do acknowledge that I could be reading into things too much, I did have backing since I tried to incorporate the concepts to pick these things up.

You know what I really hope doesn’t happen ? I really hope the writers don’t suddenly decide to go in the complete opposite direction because so many of us are guessing Sid as the father, and they want to ‘shock’ us. If Sid is the father (and I’m convinced he is) PLEASE don’t change it !! I need Sophie x Sid so so badly ! They’re so perfect in my mind 🥺

"Stillborn? No, still born" Danyal au -- VLAD MASTERS THE BITCH HIMSELF
*Points at Vlad* THIS MFER GOT SOME TEEFS TO HIM. !! Okay okay, Vlad Masters in the stillborn au is different compared to most of my other aus in the fact that I am far more heavily leaning into his original ambitions of wanting a family and being desperately lonely. Because you know what wanting a family implies? Wanting to be a parent.
Fucked up father figure that could've been Vlad. Complicated love-hate relationship between the only two halfas in existence.
Danny hates Vlad, but he hates even more that he's genuinely considered his offers of mentorship. Vlad is the only halfa around, and they both have fire cores. Danny has these powers he doesn't understand, can barely comprehend some days, and can't control. But Vlad does. Vlad can. And Vlad wants to help him. He's the only other person who can get close whenever Danny runs too hot. Whenever his igneous hair cracks, splits, and spits back out into magma and his friends can't get close, Vlad can.
His hair is made of magma, which runs so hot that people need specialized suits in order to get near it. He physically cannot get close to the living as a ghost unless he's calm enough for his hair to cool into igneous rock. Which isn't as often as he would like. And sometimes he's too hot for other ghosts to get near unless they have fire cores -- which Vlad has.
There have been many times when Danny's having a meltdown (literally) and gone somewhere to be alone, to let his anger and hurt and loneliness overflow and spill out, that when he's come back to, Vlad's right there with him as an anchor. It's desperately frustrating, it's the only time they can get along. They don't say anything, Danny just turns and clings onto the only person he can touch as a ghost.
Its not fair. Vlad wants to kill his foster dad, and Danny can't let him do that. But he wants to be trained by the man, he wants his help and wants what he can offer. But Vlad can't step away from his revenge long enough to let him. It's just not fair. He thinks for a moment that maybe it could work, and then Vlad does something to remind him that no, it can't.
Vlad Masters sees too much of himself in Daniel Brown -- from the way he holds himself, to the defenses he puts up, his quiet anger that builds and builds and builds until it explodes. That simmers beneath his skin. All the way down to the fact that they have matching cores. This boy is cut from the same cloth as him, and by god does he want to help him. He's always wanted to be a father, and Daniel Brown is too much like him for him to ignore. He genuinely, truly cares about Danny and his wellbeing.
He wants to help him, child just let him help you. Let him kill your foster dad so he can adopt you himself and help with these powers that terrify and intrigue you -- he knows what that's like to have something that you can't control, to have a heat that you can't cool down from. "We're in the same boat you and I, let him help you please."
But his methods are all wrong, and Danny is too much like him -- stubbornness and all -- for him to agree when they oppose each other so greatly. But again, Danny is much like him -- which means that Vlad is equally stubborn, and in every single one of their fights he's parental. He's annoyingly parental. He drops his interest in Maddie to focus his efforts in trying to coax Danny onto his side. It's like trying to get a traumatized cat to trust you, and on some levels it works. It's like he makes some progress, and then moves too quickly and the cat immediately runs off and you have to start back from square one.
TL:DR; Vlad and Danny both want to find family in each other but they're too different to get along and ultimately they are doomed by the narrative to be at constant odds with one another unless one of them is changes, and it doesn't matter who.
#dpxdc#dp x dc#danny fenton is not the ghost king#dpxdc crossover#dp x dc crossover#vlad masters#danny fenton#vlad masters the father figure that could've been#its TOXIC your honor#stillborn? no still born au#stillborn danny au#danyal al ghul au#parental vlad masters#*points at Vlad and Danny's canon relationship* I CAN MAKE IT MORE COMPLICATED#vlad also has magma hair but he's managed to figure out a way to keep it cool enough to stay as igneous rock. which danny wants to figure#out how to do. Vlad's happy to teach him but Danny is just. too angry all the time and his core too young for it to work. He's too angry.#This also means Dani just straight up won't exist in this au or if she does her reason for being needs to change because Vlad making Dani i#a sign that he's given up on trying to convert Danny to his side. which THIS Vlad will not be doing.#if she exists in this au Vlad made her in order to give Danny a blood sibling for him to bond with and hopefully help convince onto his sid#which means Dani probably doesn't betray Vlad because Vlad does genuinely care about her too. Their dynamic is even MORE complicated#tldr: Vlad: LET ME ADOPT YOU | Danny: STOP TRYING TO KILL JACK AND I'LL CONSIDER IT#Vlad: HE ICED ME OUT OF STARTING A FAMILY AND HIS INCOMPETENCE RESULTED IN THE DEATH OF A CHILD. NO. | Danny: THEN FUCK OFF#Starry looks at Vlad's original ambitions and goals (wanting a family + revenge) and extrapolates on that. he was far more interesting#before DP made him standard power hungry and evil imo#Danny calls vlad 'dad' once while concussed and delirious and vlad never forgot it. he rode that high for a MONTH.#FUCKED UP PARENTAL FIGURE VLAD Bruce has competition and doesn't even know it.#hey. mister wayne. bruce. a supervillain is trying to adopt your firstborn. omg he can't hear me. he has the WayneTech Beats in. mISTER WAY

Safe and Sound - Sidney Crosby x Reader
(I had to write my feelings out through this so enjoy the hurt/comfort)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
They had lost. Badly.
7-1 to be exact.
And the one time y/n goes to a game, that happens.
Y/n waited near the locker room, since Sidney had driven her.
Her mind right now?
Panic. Pure dread and panic.
She hated being around angry people, especially men.
She hadn’t known Sidney too long, but she knows he’s not the best with losing.
Y/n looked up from picking at her nails and When he finally appeared, Sidney was expressionless, his jaw set and his gaze fixed on some distant point, ignoring everyone around him. She stayed rooted to the spot, hugging her arms close to her body, not daring to call out to him.
When he caught sight of her, he gave her the slightest nod, the only acknowledgment that he’d noticed she was there.
They walked to his car in silence, a thick tension filling the air between them. Y/n
kept her gaze fixed on the sidewalk, her fingers restlessly drifting to her lips as she chewed her nails, then dropped to her knuckles, which she cracked nervously one by one. She was careful not to glance in Sidney’s direction, knowing all too well how volatile he could be after a night like this.
“Thanks for coming. I’m sorry it…I’m sorry” he mumbled out.
He opened her car door and shut it after she got in.
She folded herself into the corner, trying to stay small as possible.
Sidney gripped the steering wheel tightly as they pulled away, the streetlights casting shadows across his face, hardening his expression further. The entire drive to y/n’s apartment was suffocatingly silent.
Her heart was racing so fast, her palms sweaty.
Stay calm, he’s not like the others
Sidney pulled into her apartment’s parking lot, putting the car in park and turning off the engine.
He turned to look at y/n, but she was still facing the window.
“Y/n?”
She closed her eyes, getting ready for his reaction. The one she always knew from men like him.
“What’s wrong, baby girl?” He asked softly, barely above a whisper.
That’s what broke y/n. The nickname, the softness in his voice, no trace of anger of frustration.
She turned her face away, trying to hide the sudden sting of tears that welled up in her eyes. But the tears slipped out anyway, and a quiet sob escaped her.
Y/n took a shaky breath, embarrassed but unable to hold it back any longer. “I didn’t want to make you even more upset,” she whispered, struggling to meet his gaze. “I just thought… if I stayed quiet, maybe you wouldn’t—maybe you wouldn’t take it out on me.” She hesitated, the words thick in her throat. “Like… like I grew up with”
Sidney’s brow creased, and he squeezed her hand a little tighter, his gaze never wavering.
“Sweetheart,”he said softly, shaking his head. “I’m so glad you told me this.” He looked at her, his eyes full of understanding and something else—something tender. “I would never, ever do that to you. That game… it’s just a silly game, and it means nothing next to you. You don’t ever have to be afraid of me.”
Y/n bit her lip, overwhelmed by the gentleness in his voice. The weight of her fear began to lift, replaced by a warmth she hadn’t expected. Sidney released her hand, but only to reach up and gently brush away the tears on her cheek.
“I don’t want you to ever feel like you aren’t safe around me. Not once, did I think about taking any anger or frustration out on you. You mean so much to me and I’d never, ever do that to you.” He said.
He kept his hand on her cheek, tracing small circles on her skin.
Y/n closed her eyes, tears falling down and onto his fingers.
Her heart softened as she looked at him, the remnants of her tears still fresh but her fear fading. Sidney stayed holding her face, waiting for her to catch her breath, his presence steady and reassuring.
“Thank you,” she whispered, her voice barely audible. “I just… it’s hard sometimes, you know? I’m still learning how to… how to feel safe.”
Sidney nodded, still holding her gaze
“I know. And I’ll be here for you, as long as it takes. I want you to tell me when you feel this way, okay?”
Y/n nodded, reaching to unbuckle her seatbelt.
Sidney took his hand off her cheek and grabbed her hand, rubbing her knuckles with this thumb.
“I’ll let you get inside and get ready for bed. Text me before you fall asleep so I know you’re ok?”
Y/n nodded as she shut the passenger door and headed up her steps to her door.
She turned back around and Sidney was still there in his car, waiting until she safely got inside.
Y/n let herself in, shutting her door behind her and immediately locking it.
She placed her back against the door and slid down it, bringing her knees to her chest.
She started to cry again, but not from being scared or waiting for that moment of pure terror.
But from relief. And shock.
Sidney had an opportunity to let his anger out on her, take it all out like she was used to. And she really thought he would.
But Sidney would never.
Y/n closed her eyes as she kept replaying his gentle touching to her face, his thumb rubbing her cheek and being so gentle with her.
You’re ok. You’re safe. And he’s safe for you. Let him in, y/n.

Something about Tucker being held to a higher standard than all of the other Reds and Blues in the later seasons. Sure he likes sex and makes “that’s what she said” esque sex jokes, but like, especially during Shisno trilogy, the show seems to really like putting him down or treating his love for sex like a comedic punching bag. Oh, Tucker’s a single dad who genuinely loves and cares about his one alien kid despite how that kid was forced upon him? Well actually he had sex with a TON of women on Chorus by using the fuck temple and now has a ton of kids that he’s reluctant to pay child support for. And speaking of the temple, despite it being said to make everyone on the planet super horny and sex obsessed, Tucker says he didn’t feel any different, because making him hypersexual is funny (why is it funny, RT?). And remember how Tucker’s arc during Chorus had him emotionally dealing with Felix’s betrayal? Well now he falls for the most obvious manipulative lies from Temple, I guess he’s just dumber now. And you remember that funny scene in season 5 where Doc is giving Sister a physical exam, and Tucker obviously really wants to see her naked, but because Doc keeps telling him to not come in, and likely out of respect, he doesn’t, while Red Team is secretly perving on her (which they never fucking get called out for), plus all the funny moments of him trying to flirt with her, and her either being receptive or so fucking weird that it takes him aback? Well Tucker still REALLY wants her, but he’s now a childish asshole who can’t stand the idea of her not wanting to sleep with him, and is now super self centered despite the arc he went through showing how he values others, and the series basically keeps fucking with him and making him miserable and barely ever giving him a moment of relief. And you know how he was mercilessly tortured for M O N T H S during Restoration? Well he doesn’t get to process that trauma, and despite all the growth he’s supposedly gone through throughout the series, his last moment is an offscreen sex joke because Tucker’s the perv, get it? We can’t let him have a fucking break despite literally everyone else being treated comparatively nicer or given some kind of levity. Why specifically Tucker, Rooster Teeth? What has he done that’s so bad to you that you continually treat his character this way despite the fact that he’s truly the best (and should have been main) character in this whole series?

Father Brown Feature Length Special
How great would it be for all the old cast to return for a one off special?
Mrs M, Bunty, Sid, Felicia, the other inspectors etc
Surely there’s a way we can put this to the writers and basically BEG?
Petitions? Writing campaign? A vote?
