Vash getting sick after connecting with the plant before being brought to his home…. Or just getting sick in general while traveling in the car through the hot freaking desert because this dumbass won’t tell anyone till he couldn’t hide it anymore- pretty sure Wolfwood would sniff him out though… Wolfwood scolding him but being gentle (he acts like it’s an annoyance but he’d slam the blondes fevered head against his thigh so fast so the ladder could lay down in the back seat, give him his jacket as a pillow and pretend he isn’t running his fingers through his sweaty hair), Meryl’s driving isn’t helping let’s be honest, and Roberto aka uncle downer is in dadmode.

Or Wolfwood getting sick, trying to play it off but like damn isn’t he like 12 (?) and Vash being his gentle caring sunshine self (he would definitely card his fingers through Wolfwoods sweaty hair, reassuring him, give him his jacket, let him lean on him despite the other man’s protests, and honestly be okay if he accidentally got vomited on… idk this guy is the freaking sun), Meryl being cautious but caring and once again, Roberto in dadmode.

Also love that Roberto starts to refer to himself as Uncle Downer or Uncle Downy. Lol this man I hope these four stick together and if not, don’t burst my fantasy that they do…. Vash needs a fucking hug bro- but I also want to see him MAD. Like mad that he fucks shit up- he looses control, himself, and it’s up to the trio to bring him back…

my favourite theory right now is that he hears bruce and barry and ollie boasting about their kids in school and how well they're doing and he was like "hmph, garth could totally do that too" and decided to send him so he could have something to puff chest about too

something so gut wrenching about the scene when kamen launches his escape pod and at the last second realises fiona was trying to get in too . maybe its partly the voice acting and the quiet right after, im not sure, but it makes my stomach absolutely drop. but also kamen is selfish and doesn't even really think of others (doesnt even consider how isolated fiona might feel on a freighter spaceship when their relationship falls apart, because he's doing good at his job and going to keep his high ranking position or something.. going off course to deliver cargo faster and ordering people around (except for sam, who is above him) is all a power fantasy to him) but in that moment he's so suddenly clearly aware that he's killed fiona. like instantly regrets it, and theres absolutely nothing he can do. so extremely nothing he can do. he's hundreds of miles from her in an instant. and thats the basis of how he acts for the whole rest of the show - he hasn't rly thought about other people before or considered how his actions might effect them so when he has to do that he just shuts down and lets the hollow take over

More! Headcanons!

Because I haven't done these in a while, but an idea practically whacked me upside the head whilst writing angst (of course) and I wanted to get it down somehow because it won't fit in the current chapter. So:

The kiddos when they're sick!

Spider is very, very clingy. But then can also be very distant at the same time. It depends on how he's feeling at that moment. Because once, Jake went to check on him and he was practically growled out of the hammock, glared at until his feet passed the threshold. But a while later, he was met with grabby hands and a Spider that wrapped himself around him and refused to let him go. It can be confusing to anyone, but Spider's emotions are so raw when he's sick that it is to be expected.

Neteyam is way more lowkey. Give him a blanket, a thing to cuddle - ie a toy or Spider or Tuk whichever is closest - and he is sorted for the entire day. Which is usually how long sickness clings to him because he has an immune system fit for a boss that kicks the ass of any illness and lets Neteyam bounce right back after one day in bed.

Kiri doesn't really get sick. She says it's because of the amount of time she spends with Momo, breathing in all the goodness from the pastes and medicines she makes. But occasionally, she does get the odd runny nose or slight sore throat. And when she does, she chases after Lo'ak threatening to sneeze on him. Or crawls all over her older brothers for cuddles.

Lo'ak refuses to believe he's sick. Even with a fever and a nasty cough, he will force himself out of bed because he's a stubborn brat and will go about his day in denial. He will refuse any teas or medicine, because he can't be sick he's got the immune system of a mighty warrior. And it is only when he inevitably falls into his bed that he will agree with someone that yes, he might be feeling a little bit under the weather but that he'll only stay in bed for a few hours. And then proceeds to conk out until the next morning.

Tuk is needy in the sense that she will actively take the opportunity presented to her and will demand everything and anything she can ask for. And if she doesn't get it? Then the sickness is played up just enough to have Jake scrambling for the banana fruit she's asked for, Neytiri fondly going to grab her a blanket, and her siblings reluctantly curling up around her.

Eddie isn't paying attention as he reads the latest copy of Heavy Metal, leaning his back against Billy's.

Billy is smoking, enjoying the sunlight of the fall afternoon, soaking it in before winter arrives, and Eddie's back is warm against his own. It's a nice day in the park, and they're both content.

Billy stiffens just a little as he recognizes an approaching figure, and Eddie sits up, looking over his shoulder to see what Billy's reacting to.

It's Nancy Wheeler's mom, headed up the sidewalk. Eddie glances at Billy and sees that his face has gone cold and impassive, his eyes dark and dead.

He knows that look. He's seen it when Neil is nearby, or when Billy's about to start a fight. He's either fighting to keep himself in check, or he's about to unleash. Either way, it isn't good, and he wonders why he's having that reaction to Wheeler's mom of all people.

She's clearly wondering something similar.

"Oh. Hi, Billy," she says, and the way her voice curls over his name makes Eddie feel something sour curdle in his stomach, and he understands Billy's reaction.

"Mrs. Wheeler," Billy says simply, emphasising the 'Mrs.' It makes her flinch, just a bit, but she recovers her composure and frowns.

"I didn't realize you were friends with..."

She trails off, and Eddie raises his brows.

"With?" Billy asks. His tone is light, saccharine, almost venomous.

"The local devil worshipper, obviously," Eddie says before she can make her feeble excuses.

Ignoring him, Karen holds out a small piece of paper.

"Here," she says. "It's the schedule for the men's group of my church. It will do you good, Billy."

Eddie snatches it up when Billy doesn't take it, and before either of them can say anything, Eddie shoves it in his mouth. Without looking away from Karen's face, he chews it up, slowly, purposely, and swallows it.

The look on Karen's face as she struggles to maintain her composure finally has the dead look lifting from Billy's face, a shit eating grin replacing it.

"Probably for the best," he says with a shrug. "Your husband attends that study, doesn't he?"

Somehow, he and Eddie manage to hold in their laughter at Karen's expression until she's stormed off.
