I really want to do a sequel to Things Have Changed. I already have a premise, but not a whole ton of other ideas. I'm hoping more inspiration comes to me when I'm done writing Things Have Changed. Basically I have a lot of loose ideas that aren't connected to anything for the sequel lol. I have a working title though. We'll see where it goes. All I know, is my current fic is all but completely mapped out, with a few bits here and there that need filling in or tweaking. I'm planning at minimum three more chapters, maybe more.

edit: merlin is singing “i won’t say (i’m in love)” from hercules while the knights insist he is. denial is a riVER IN EGYPT-

edit 2: merlin is now singing “falling for ya” from teen beach movie. shits getting real.

edit 3: the knights set up a date for merthur and while lancelot is singing “kiss the girl” from the little mermaid

edit 4: morgana is having her main character moment now and is singing “she’s so gone” from lemonade mouth in her chambers. DAMN IT she ruined merthur’s date. wait…what’s she doing with that dagger?? UTHER WATCH- oh nvm get his ass morgana

edit 5: the knights set up another date for merthur and lancelot and gwaine are singing “can you feel the love tonight” from the lion king (timon and pumba’s parts are about merlin). elyan, percival, and leon are singing the chorus and slow dancing in the background- oh nvm they’re just twerking really slowly. merlin is singing simba’s part while arthur is singing nala’s.

edit 6: gwen is giving heart eyes to lancelot and singing “he could be the one” from hannah montana 3

edit 7: merlin can’t find a cure to the love spell over arthur and gwen brings up true loves kiss and merlin doesn’t believe her but she says to try anyways. merlin is staring at arthur across the field and singing “one kiss” from descendants 3

edit 8: merthur are being soft and awkward around each other and since merlin didn’t want to enter a courtship with secrets, he revealed his magic to arthur. things have been tense but now they’re singing “something there” from beauty and the beast. it looks like arthur is coming around

edit 9: they’re singing “i see the light” from tangled. they’re all alone under the stars. they’re leaning in closer. they’re…HOLY FUCK THEY’RE KISSING

I tried to write this fic last year (I think) but my phone crashed and I lost the majority of it, so never felt like working with it more, but in honor of The Day, here's some of it:

Merlin looks down at Arthur, so pale compared to the golden shine he's supposed to have.

Even his hair looks duller.

Laid flat against the sticks, the scene looks altogether too wrong. This is not even close to what Arthur deserves.

Merlin can't take the sight of it any longer, so he holds out his trembling hand, preparing to say the words to send the boat out.

But what comes out instead is a spell last used as a gift for someone else he loved.

Flower after flower blooms around Arthur, all sorts of flowers, every kind Merlin can remember from hours spent studying Gaius' books.

Their meanings in the language of flowers comes back to him, remembrance, loss, grieving.

But also, love, care, fondness.

He can't stand the thought of Arthur going without having that with him, all the love they could never speak of until it was too late.

Merlin scrubs the tears from his eyes to make sure the sight is slightly closer to what Arthur deserved, even if he would've said all the flowers were too girly.

But there has been that time he'd asked where his flowers were.

And so here they are, lovingly embracing him as Merlin never could, until the end.

Merlin sends the boat away without another word, watching it carry his king off, keeping him safe until his time to return.
