relevant images for today's fuckery; not specifically just for the red dead fandom, but it seems to be a discussion that still has not relented over the course of rdr2's emergence.
and i, a queer man, am frankly tired of cishet fans and other lgbtq+ fans alike when it comes to the harassment people get from these "word of god" fans because someone said xyz character isn't cishet

I watched the new epithet erased song and I just fell in love with it. Idk why, but I just love it so much. Maybe itā€™s cause Iā€™m starving and in dire need of more epithet erased content that I just ate it up like a rabid dog. If anyone hasnā€™t checked out the song yet, I highly recommend doing so! Itā€™s a fun watch especially if youā€™re an epithet erased fan!
Also yes, the first post Iā€™m every making on tumble is epithet erased. I just wanted to show some Fan art I did for the song! No, Iā€™m not gonna post anything more (unless I actually do in the future, which I highly doubt it). Im still figuring out how tumblr worksā€¦
Iā€™ll also put the link of the song Iā€™m talking about in case anyone wants to watch it!

I hate the attitude that so many people in the RDR2 fanbase have that gun = strong. When discussing the women - Abigail, Molly and Mary specifically here because they are who I was talking about when I was told these things - who are, to me undoubtedly, strong women who withstand horrible circumstances, I am told that no, actually, theyā€™re not strong. Only women like Sadie are strong, or maybe Miss Grimshaw, on a rare occasion Karen, but always Sadie, because Sadie has a gun and she kills people with it.
I know I pin a lot of things on misogyny in this fanbase, but in a gaming space mostly full of men, youā€™re going to see a lot of it, and the way men and some women who like Sadie discuss her has always reeked of it to me. They reduce her down to only being a gun, taking away the actual depth and emotion of her character in favour of seeing her as one of the men, because she wears boy clothes and has a gun and sheā€™s nice to Arthur, so sheā€™s cool. Not like Molly who cries all the time and wants to die, not like Abigail whoā€™s doing everything for a man, who arenā€™t strong at all despite what they have been through because they never go on a shooting spree, which as we know is the only thing that makes a woman strong.
The way Sadie is viewed by these people also completely diminishes the person Sadie actually is. I have so often found that Sadie is only held in such favour by certain men in the fanbase because she is the easiest woman to turn into a man, as it were, or theyā€™re attracted to her. She dresses like them, spends most of her time around them, kills lots of people like them, and sheā€™s still very pretty, so if you only value women for fitting in with men or for how attractive you find them, Sadie is the perfect candidate. She challenges plenty of men, but not Arthur, so sheā€™s a good one, and sheā€™s even got a more neutral stance on Dutch, so sheā€™s doubly a good one, because now sheā€™s not angry with the cool leader either.
This is not to say Sadie gets no hate. She absolutely does, and itā€™s all as unwarranted as youā€™d expect. Sadie has established skills with her gun, sheā€™s going to be skilled with it when she picks one up, her and her husband shared the work as she says. She is rash and she has a short fuse, but her husband was murdered and sheā€™s not going to be at all calm about that. Her final mission is optional. If you donā€™t want Arthur to go on that, donā€™t make him. She got a lot of people killed unnecessarily. Sheā€™s flawed, sheā€™s very, very flawed, and sheā€™s also not the only character to cause the deaths of innocent people during the game. But just as much as overly criticising her behaviour and looking at no motivations or reasoning she might have had, treating her more critically than you would the men, reducing her down to her flaws is an unfair view of her character, so is reducing her down to a generic cool woman character with nothing happening besides guns and chest, because thatā€™s apparently all women are good for to plenty of the men in the fanbase.
The point of this ramble is just that Sadie is more than her gun, she has a whole personality in there, and while I do think itā€™s a shame that the entirety of her character was hinged on her revenge until the epilogue since it gave us quite a limited perspective on her, we still get to meet her properly when the epilogue comes around and she has mostly gotten over her grief. Sadie isnā€™t just a gun and her strength doesnā€™t just come from her killing lots of people, and there is no lack of strength in Molly, Abigail and Mary because they either kill very few people or none at all.
The strength these women have does not come from the bodies at their feet. Arthur Morgan isnā€™t a strong man because he kills people. Why is that only a condition for the women? Why does Abigail coming from being a teenage sex worker, a dangerous industry at the best of times, to a very young mother trying her best to keep her family together, to give her son a better life than she had not constitute as strength? What about that does not make her a strong person? Same for Mary, same for Molly. Both went through a lot of abuse, Mary did all she could to protect her brother and Mollyā€™s drove her off such a frightened, paranoid edge, leaving her convinced everybody in the gang who she already knew werenā€™t the biggest fans at her were laughing at her, and yet she still went through multiple sessions of being sweater by the Pinkertons - who, Iā€™ll remind you, treated Strauss rough enough to kill him - and didnā€™t say a word. How arenā€™t they strong?
They donā€™t have guns. Abigail kills Milton, but heā€™s a character you 100% hate by now. Mary and Molly never kill anybody. If your one condition for a female character being cool and strong is they shoot a lot of people, these three donā€™t fit that, but if thatā€™s your condition for the women, that says more about you. Stop using Sadie Adler to back up your misogynistic feelings about the other women, sheā€™d hate that

Consider this me asking about girldads bucktommy
Sorry to all my followers that do not care about this fic but Iā€™m back after a brief interlude (passed out for 12 hours) but now Iā€™m BACK!!
After buck and Tommy find out about the pregnancy, Eddie is the next person who finds out. While Buck and Tommy hadnā€™t really discussed having kids, theyā€™re both really excited!!! theyā€™re gonna have a baby together!!! But also thatā€™s a really big change and there are a lot of things that are going to be different. For one, Buck has to pause taking T while heā€™s pregnant, what heā€™s going to be able to do at work is going to change, etc. etc.
Buck does what he does best and goes on a research spiral and finds out about all these wild pregnancy symptoms (like ur teeth falling out) and heā€™s kind of freaking out so he goes to Eddie! Eddie is his person, his best friend, heā€™s always been the person that Buck can go to and be vulnerable with. He shows up on Eddieā€™s doorstep with a whole big thoughtful speech planned out in his head but the moment Eddie opens his door and asks ā€œhey man, whatā€™s up?ā€ Buck bursts into tears (thank you pregnancy hormones) and just blurts it out. Buck also tells Eddie ā€œyouā€™re the godparent by the way, thatā€™s how normal people break that news. Not after theyā€™ve been shot you jerkā€

actually speaking of molly being cut from the gilded cage mission, I also think that would've been a perfect opportunity for a little side conflict with her and dutch as a potentially missable event that happens at the party. like maybe she's glad to finally be included in something and she's determined to make good on the opportunity by trying hard to dig for info, but dutch acts wholly unimpressed by her efforts and they argue, then for the rest of the night she just drinks and sulks. could've been another small indicator of how badly their relationship is going at that point. OR she tries to dig for info by flirting with a partygoer and dutch gets mad about it and she argues that he has some nerve to scold her for doing that when he barely behaves like a partner to her, then she storms away and ends up begrudgingly sitting beside lillian powell and getting drunk with her. idk, I just think it could've been a bit better/more interesting than just bill stumbling over high society conversation

Thinking about Molly on this day.
Thinking about how she was promised a thrilling life with Dutch and not having to lift a finger at camp. Thinking about how isolated she is from the other girls.
Thinking about how in Polite Society Valentine Style, Karen says that Molly is too good for them now. Now. Implying that maybe they were close before. Maybe she joined the gang while Annabell was still alive. Dutch picking Molly because she was new and didn't have as strong of a connection with everyone else making her the perfect target for his manipulation.
There's a moment where she gets upset at Karen for talking about her behind her back to which Karen replies with having no idea what she's talking about. Is Dutch telling her these things? That the other girls don't like her or are jealous of her? To keep her close?
Thinking about Molly and Sadie. Sadie also isn't really that close with the other girls save for a few conversations with Abigail. But she's new and she's in mourning. She's stuck with the gang because she doesn't have anywhere else to go. She's alone in the gang as well until chapter 3. There hasn't been enough time for her to really find her place in the gang. So what if Molly reached out to her? What if Sadie could be Molly's one true friend in the gang?
What if Sadie gave Molly the attention she's missing from Dutch? What if Molly could survive because of Sadie?

I'll vomit if I see one more person say Abigail was the second rat. I'll have a heart attack if I see one more person say Molly was useless. I'll cry if I see one more person say Mary Linton used Arthur. All three of these women were in love and get shunned for it by the fan base and it really doesn't make sense to me bro... just use your eyes and ears and actually pay attention and you'll understand them and the things they did and WHY they did it. That's probably the most important part of it tbh because they'll never even try understanding what it was like being a woman in the 1800s and what it was like for them falling in lovešŸ’”
