Okay so I know these drawings take a total of ten minutes to draw but like--holy crap they're difficult. I imagine, since Jeff is roughly 13-15 and Lulu is 16 they could be friends. However, I'm hesitant of shipping them just because Jeff's age is slightly unknown. If you guys know Jeff's official age PLEASE HELP ME OUT. I want to ship these two so bad but I can't until I know Jeff's age. ��

I wouldn’t say Musical BJ is like that. The song “Creepy Old Guy” is more of a mockery of the whole wedding plot point from the movie. I sincerely doubt that he’s trying to glorify pedophilia hence the “Its a green card thing” and “I can’t believe some cultures think this kind of things alright” lines. You can tell the towards the beginning of act two Beetlejuice wants to experience life so much that he’s willing to do whatever he can to get his chance to live, especially since at that point he’s closer to it that he’s ever been before. It’s very unlikely he just sat there and started to actually fall in love with Lydia and more so chose her because she was most likely to say yes and also the only other person in the house at the time.

As for “assaulting” the other characters they were all played as jokes. One of the first lines in the show is literally “I know you’re woke but you can take a joke” so it’s pretty clear what you’re getting yourself into. Even then after the Life or Death scene the other characters do it back to him, with almost all of them kissing him without asking. It’s honestly nothing worse than the jokes in Bob’s Burgers.

Beetlejuice also clearly has trauma and emotional issues. He not only has had to walk the Earth alone for thousands of years with no one to talk to but no one can even see him. He’s just forced to watch everyone live while he never even got the chance to do it himself. His relationship with parents clearly weren’t great either with his mom choosing getting drunk over taking care of him and his dad leaving him.

I’m the end I wouldn’t say he was a bad person, he just made some bad choices which was probably his most human trait. I think people forget that Musical BJ did good things too. I’m act one he really did try to teach the Maitlands how to scare. He literally stops Lydia from committing suicide, and gets her dad out of the house like she wanted. In act two he and Lydia set up a bitchin' haunted house so she can finally let loose and have some fun. Even after Lydia kills him he comes back to save her, killing his own mom in the process because they’re friends and he cares about her.

I’m not trying to defend anything or anyone (These are all just fictional characters after all) but I am trying to show why his character writing is that way and you shouldn’t feel bad for having sympathy with him. Yes he made some bad decisions, but he also shows remorse for his actions in his own ways and nobody would’ve gotten their happy ending without him

Hey not to talk about Beetlejuice again but how the fuck did they make such an irredeemable villain so sympathetic? Like, this guy assaults pretty much every character he interacts with. There’s an entire musical number about him being creepy and pedophilic. There’s not much he could do to be worse!

But then they were just like “yeah, his two motivations are going to be becoming human so he can feel things for the first time and making a friend bc everyone he’s ever met leaves him” like! Don’t make me feel bad for him! He torments people as a hobby and you’re telling me he does it because he’s been alone and unfeeling for so long he’s forgotten any humanity he has left? What the fuck

yeah last week tonight did a piece about public libraries and man it set me off.

reminded me of the way my old boss constantly undermined me, pretended to be outwardly liberal and defensive of her staff, while behind the scenes she was pressuring me to "stop ordering so many lgbt books", forcing me to reclassify tens of books as adult because our vendor said they were (even though professional review sites said they weren't), refusing to let me run more queer programs because "wasn't the one and all the controversy around it enough" and waiting until I was on vacation to steal almost 20 books from the YA section and reclassify them as adult so that I wouldn't notice.
