Report on the 3rd Online Meeting of the Last Defense Academy School Council (Held on February 28)
The archived video is now available for the School Council members, so I’ve listed the key points and comments from Kodaka and Inou (THL’s producer) that I found particularly important or amusing. Part of the report is written in the form of a conversation, and the person named Miyokawa who appears in it is the editor-in-chief of a Japanese gaming media outlet called Famitsu.
Q: There are now 55 days until release. How are things going? Kodaka: We’re working on some patches, but development itself is basically finished. Until recently, I was making final adjustments to the parts I was responsible for, as well as checking the balance of the SRPG sections. But now that’s all settled, so I’ve been playing through the parts written by other writers—the ones I wasn’t involved in during development—as a player.
Q: So you're playing THL from a player’s perspective? Kodaka: Yes, exactly. There are parts I didn’t oversee at all, so I’m experiencing them for the first time myself.
Q: The demo’s reviews have the status of “Overwhelmingly Positive”… Kodaka: They’re all fake reviews. (Everyone laughs) Kodaka: We paid people 100 yen each to write them. Miyokawa: That’s cheap. (laughs) Inou: I personally wrote about 30 of them. (Everyone laughs) Miyokawa: Let’s not make jokes like that—it could spread in a weird way. It’s not true! (laughs) Right now, there are around 806 reviews. Kodaka: It’s really nice to see so many reviews for just the demo.
Q: Do you feel the impact of the feedback? Kodaka: Yes, I do. With Rain Code, we didn’t release a demo, and while DRV3 had a demo, there wasn’t really a place for people to leave reviews like this. So being able to see this kind of reaction is really valuable. We’ve even used some of the feedback to make adjustments in patches, so in that sense, I’m glad we released a demo. Also, as I mentioned in my Famitsu interview today, seeing the reactions to the demo has been a relief. My worries have eased a bit. Before the demo was released, I was thinking, “What if we only sell 600 copies...?” But now I know we’ll at least sell 800, so I feel a little better. (Everyone laughs) Miyokawa: I don’t think 800 copies is a number you should feel reassured about. (laughs)
Q: The SRPG sections were more challenging than I expected. Kodaka: That’s true. I think that’s one of the aspects that received particularly good feedback. When it comes to the story, a lot of people commented that it felt “Danganronpa-like” and nostalgic, but for the SRPG sections, it seemed like many players only truly understood what they were like after playing them.
The SRPG has a system where, if you get a game over, various relief measures kick in, making it progressively easier. Personally, when I play action games and keep getting game overs, I always think, “Why doesn’t this game have some kind of relief system?!” Since I’m more of a casual gamer, after dying three times, I just want the game to let me clear it already.
Miyokawa: So THL has that kind of relief system? Kodaka: Yes. Since I’m the type of person who wants that kind of feature, I made sure to include it.
Q: Since we have Kodaka here, I’d love for the School Council members to share their thoughts directly with you. But at the same time, many fans are hesitant to say too much because they’re worried about spoilers.
Kodaka: Yeah, but honestly, what’s playable in the demo is really just the tip of the iceberg—actually, more like the tip of the tip of the iceberg. I’ve seen a lot of reviews commenting on how surprisingly large the demo is, saying things like, “I can’t believe they released this much content.” But in reality, it’s just a small fraction of the full game. So many more things are going to happen from here on.
On the other hand, since the development team talks openly about all this stuff among ourselves, I sometimes worry that I might accidentally slip up and drop a keyword or something.
Most SRPGs tend to have a fantasy feel, but I think this demo really conveys just how much of a 'chuunibyou' (edgy, over-the-top) vibe the game has.
(Everyone laughs)
One thing that’s always bothered me about SRPGs is how, toward the end, the gameplay often turns into just surrounding the last enemies and bullying them. At a certain point, you realize, “Oh, I can’t lose anymore,” and the tension disappears. I wanted to reduce that as much as possible.
So, I designed the game around "comeback victories." The more allies you lose, the stronger you become.
I set it up so that, near the end, you might think, “Only two of us are left... but if we risk everything, we might just pull this off... We did it!!!” That kind of dramatic, high-stakes moment. I feel like that also adds to the game’s chuunibyou spirit.

<Kodaka's Comments During the Fan Q&A Session>
Darumi is the kind of character that seems like they could fit into Danganronpa but actually can't. If you have a character like that, they’d basically have to be killed off early on. So, while they might seem like a Danganronpa character, they actually wouldn’t work.
Maruko wouldn’t fit either. Someone that much of a coward would be hard to use in the story. Ginzaki as well—if he keeps sinking into self-loathing every time he speaks, the Class Trial wouldn’t progress at all. Surprisingly, there are a lot of characters that seem like they could appear in Danganronpa but actually wouldn’t.
For the first nine characters (except for Takumi), I wanted them to feel a little more relatable, a bit more grounded compared to the ones in Danganronpa or Rain Code. Maruko, Kawana, Shizuhara—they don’t have over-the-top appearances. Since this game has war as a theme, I wanted to include somewhat realistic reactions to that. So, at first, I aimed to depict real high school students with these nine characters. ...But I couldn't really do it. laughs In the end, I just kept adding more and more, and it turned out the same as always—intense characters all over again.
(Everyone laughs)
Kodaka: Still, I think the designs are slightly more relatable than those in Danganronpa, don’t you? Miyokawa: Darumi might be a bit extreme, though. Kodaka: Yeah, that’s true. But then all the characters that got added later ended up being way too intense, which made for a really unbalanced mix. laughs
Q: Are you participating in the 100-day login campaign? Kodaka: I haven’t logged in once. (Everyone laughs)
Q. The controls with the keyboard are difficult. Can they be improved before release? Kodaka: To be honest, I strongly recommend using a gamepad. Well... making adjustments for keyboard controls costs money, you know. Inou: Yeah, it’s not like we didn’t consider it, but given the budget, we decided it was better to just ask players to use a gamepad.
Q: Will there be any shocking announcements before the release? Kodaka: Honestly, we’re still debating how much to reveal. From a marketing perspective, it would be better to make an honest announcement that "This and that happen," people would go, "Whoa, this game is insane!" But at the same time, I want players to experience those surprises firsthand. So I’m thinking maybe it’s best to hold back and rely on post-release word-of-mouth instead. I don’t want to ruin those moments of shock for the players.
That said, I was looking at the demo reviews, and it seems like a lot of people were really reacting to Aotsuki’s event CG from Tokyo Game Show. Maybe that’s because, after playing the demo, they understood the characters better?
Inou: Yeah, that one definitely got people buzzing and stirred up a lot of "What!?!" reactions. Kodaka: At TGS, we had a bunch of event CGs on display at the booth. And we figured, "Hey, let’s throw in something fun at the edge of the lineup!" So we deliberately included one of the more intense event CGs. But I think it’s still hard to understand why things turned out that way.
There are over 600 event CGs in the game, so I doubt many people will see all of this.
---
On the development process
Kodaka: Today, various sections of the team were interviewed, and while reminiscing about the road to release, our staff kept saying things like: "I never thought we’d finish this game." "There’s no way this is possible."
Honestly, for the past two years, I’ve been hearing nothing but people saying, “It’s impossible! We can’t finish it!”
Miyokawa: Sounds like the whole Tookyo Games team was in despair. Kodaka: Yeah, Tookyo Games was in despair. Even Media.Vision (the company handling the SRPG sections) was in despair. Inou: Right. And since I was managing the project, I was in despair too. (Everyone laughs) Inou: So, at some point, I thought we had to force ourselves to finish it. Speaking of which, someone started saying scary things like, "If we had another year, we could have done even better..." Kodaka: It would never be finished at that rate. laughs Miyokawa: That just shows how ambitious the game was. Kodaka: Yeah, and I think the quality turned out really high. The character sprites and music are really abundant, too.
Plus, in the ADV sections, the scripting was all handled by the actual scenario writers. For the sections I wrote, I also did all the scripting myself. In fact, the entire ADV section of the demo—I handled all the scripting for it.
That’s probably why people kept saying in reviews that it feels like Danganronpa—because everything, from the way sound effects are used to the way music changes, was all done in my style.
While working on this, I realized that I’m actually really good at scripting. Maybe even better than writing scenarios. I genuinely feel like my directing makes things more engaging.
Miyokawa: Do different writers have their own distinct styles? Kodaka: Yeah, you can really tell, especially with Uchikoshi—his writing stands out a lot. There are some sections where you just know it’s him. But I think that’s part of the game’s charm—there are so many different routes, and multiple writers contributed to them.
---
[Closing Segment]
Miyokawa: Now then, does anyone know what day it is today, February 28th? Kodaka: Monster Hunter release day! Miyokawa: (laughs) Oh, the team members know what I mean. That’s right—it’s Ginzaki’s birthday! So, we have prepared a cake for him!

What do you think? Kodaka: That’s impressive. It does look a bit like his ears are melting though. Miyokawa: Well, is he really that beloved? Inou: I believe a lot of people will end up loving him. He’s already popular at ANIPLEX, and he’s one of my favorites too. Kodaka: He does have a great range of expressions. A lot of them are annoying, though. (Everyone laughs) Miyokawa: Even the expression on the cake is a little irritating, right? He doesn't seem to be aware that he is being celebrated. ---
Miyokawa: Lastly, do you have any message for the School Council members? Kodaka: Well, after the release, I’d love to have a meeting where we can share our thoughts without worrying about spoilers. I think a lot of different impressions will come up. Probably, about a month after the release, people who have played it will have completely different opinions, so I’d like to hear everyone’s thoughts at a good time. I think this is a work where sharing impressions will be a lot of fun, so please look forward to it and wait until the release.
---
That’s all for now. Please note that this post only highlights the parts of their statements that I found interesting, and some sections have been edited for flow, as they were not originally consecutive.
I hope you find some parts of it enjoyable to read. Thanks for reading! 🌟

📢 Last Defense Academy School Council 1st Online Fan Meeting Report
Today, the first online fan meeting was held on Discord*! First of all, I would like to clarify that no new game information was revealed during this meeting. Since it was the first fan meeting ever, the focus was on clarifying the purpose of the School Council with the official staff and the fans. *For those who don't know, this event is only for those who live in Japan and have been selected for the Ambassador Program they were previously recruited for.
The official staff who participated included two representatives from Famitsu (one of whom was Miyokawa, known for appearances on Rain Code's YouTube program) and two from ANIPLEX, including producer Shuntaro Inou (稲生 舜太郎). Inou is a key figure who appeared alongside Kodaka during media interviews at the Tokyo Game Show.
There were no representatives from Tookyo Games this time, but Kodaka made a brief appearance via a video message at the end of the meeting. His message was mainly a note of gratitude to the fans who joined, without much noteworthy information. (He mentioned things that he had already mentioned many times in his X account, such as spending a lot of money to make this game.) However, the background of the video, likely filmed in Tookyo Games’ office, featured several movie posters, one of which was for John Wick. The poster showed John pointing a gun directly at the viewer, giving the impression that Kodaka himself was being threatened. Also, perhaps he recorded that video late at night and his face looked a little tired, which also made him look like a person trapped somewhere. Then, Miyokawa joked about this, saying, “Maybe Kodaka is in an extreme(極限) state," which made both the staff and the fans laugh. (By the way, "extreme" is one of the catchphrases for The Hundred Line.)
It was mentioned that Kodaka will be present at the upcoming online fan meeting, but it is not known when exactly he will appear.
One piece of information that might sound interesting is that Inou mentioned that both ANIPLEX and Tookyo Games staff frequently check fan art posted on platforms like X. Kodaka in particular is said to be actively looking at fan art. Many of you may already know this, as he occasionally reposts (retweets) fan creations. However, when this was brought up, the official staff all nodded and said, "Kodaka checks very often," which suggests that he might be paying even more attention than we imagined.
This fan meeting was held in a format where fans reacted, sent messages and questions via text chat while watching streaming video from the official staff. The chat was incredibly active, with messages pouring in at an astounding speed, showing just how passionate the fanbase is.
Although no new game information was shared this time, ANIPLEX’s PR representative mentioned that they have many plans in store, so there’s plenty to look forward to!
That is all for this report. Thanks for reading! 🫶💕

Okita Souji's work schedule
During the Edo period, low-ranking samurai working at Edo Castle had a "three-day shift," working two days and taking the third day off.
Working hours were shorter than now, and the work was divided into morning, evening, and night shifts.
This may sound somewhat enviable, but the pay was low, and the workers ended up working long hours at their own side jobs.
On the other hand, what was the work schedule like for the Shinsengumi, who were paid well but had to work hard?
Since there are no historical materials about the service shifts of the Shinsengumi members, I would like to speculate based on some records.
Since the Shinsengumi were often mobilized for emergencies, there were relatively few incidents, and I have referred to the events from the first year of the Genji Era to the second year of the Keio Era, when the organization seemed to be in place after the assassination of Serizawa Kamo.
Off-duty days?
In the first year of the Genji era, Tomizawa Chuemon, the village head of Hino and a fellow student, went to Kyoto and wrote in his diary that he often visited the headquarters.
According to this, on 2/2, Hijikata, Inoue, and Okita were at the headquarters from around noon to evening.
The following month, on 3/5, they attended the Peach Blossom Banquet hosted by Kondo and others. Kondo, Hijikata, Inoue, Okita, Todo and others were there and returned home the next morning.
On March 11, a cherry blossom viewing party was held. Kondo, Hijikata, Inoue, Okita, Toudou, and Takeda Kanryusai attended. After the banquet, they moved to Shimabara for an after-party, so it's likely that they returned home in the morning on this day as well.
Although we do not know the start time of either banquet, they must have been off duty that day or the next day.
The next month, on April 11, a farewell party was held for Tomizawa who had completed what he set out to do and was returning home. This was attended by Kondo, Hijikata, Inoue, and Okita. Since the party was held in the evening, it cannot be said that they were off duty.
Work days
Except for emergency dispatches such as the Ikedaya Incident, there is nothing that shows Okita's work days in the First Squad.
The mistaken arrest that caused trouble with the Higo clan was introduced in the article "Okita Souji's Apology Conference". If this was the work of the First Squad, 9/8 of Keio 1 is a work day.
On the other hand, for some reason, an attendance record still exists for Takeda Kanryusai and the 7th Squad.
Takeda was involved in the capture of Masuya (Furutaka Shuntaro) on 6/5 of the first year of the Genji era and the Akebonotei Incident on 6/10. It is believed that he belonged to the 3rd Squad at that time.
In the 7th Squad, Yano Shigetaro was captured on 5/12 in the leap month of Keio 1. On 9/12 of the following year, there is a record of Sanosuke Harada leading his unit to the Sanjo Noticeboard Incident.
It's noteworthy that in the Sanjo Noticeboard Incident, it's clear from the subsequent historical materials that Squads 3, 5, and 7 were deployed.
Although the 1st squadron was not dispatched, the other odd-numbered squads were all dispatched together, probably because they were on the same shift.
Morning shift, night shift, 3-day shift?
Then, assuming that the "Peach Blossom Banquet" was off-duty, I created a shift based on the same "three-day shift" as that of Edo Castle.
Then, the "Tomizawa's Farewell Party" was also off-duty for odd-numbered teams.
Also, Hijikata Kennosuke, a member of the Sennin Doshin (Thousand Men Army) who had come to Kyoto, visited the headquarters and held a drinking party on September 18, Keio 1 (1865) [edit: corrected typo], also off-duty, and Okita and Inoue of the First and Third Corps attended all the parties.
Furthermore, none of the days when Takeda and 7th Squad were deployed fell on off-duty days, but rather on work days.
However, 2/2, when Tomizawa visited, was a work day on this shift. Considering that Okita and the others were drinking until the evening, they may have been on a different shift before the "Peach Blossom Party," or they may have been on duty from the evening.
Since the Sanjo Noticeboard incident also did not involve the First Squad, it's also possible that they were on morning-duty on this day.
This is just a hypothesis, but I think that the Shinsengumi took turns off-duty for each even-numbered and odd-numbered squad, and that there was a morning shift and an evening shift on working days.
There is a high possibility that the work interval is a "3 days shift", but if it's based on odd or even numbers, there will be days when all employees are dispatched, so there may have been another group.
However, when Iba Hachiro went to Kyoto, he worked once every four days. Other diaries from the same period show consecutive days of work and consecutive holidays, which are irregular and depend on the organization.
The Shinsengumi's work schedule was announced in the morning, so even if there was a general schedule, it would have varied.
Incidentally, according to this schedule, the day Okita wrote a letter to his hometown informing them of Sannan's death fell on a day he was off duty.
It may have taken him a long time to write that painful letter...

Okay one, this is wholesome and very sweet, loved all of them.
Two, thanks to the laws of my brain playing the sweet, succulent game of word association, for a brief second thought 'Tatta, honey. Did Tatta hand us a ball of ice cream raw???' because all I saw was round and cold and decided that yeah, Tatta grabbed ice cream with his bare hand and is now handing it to us like a small toddler who found a really neat rock outside and handed it to you as a sign of positive interaction.
Two, Mira's Special Tea reminds me so much of this one fic where the maid just casually slips melatonin in a guy's tea and thinks nothing else of it as she whisks him to bed and honestly I'm here for it. Go Mira, get our ass to bed. ✨

This is meant for general audiences—there are some mentions of violence, alcohol, implied drugging, etc. but nothing explicit. This is wholesome. (Or, you know, as wholesome as some of these people get...)
Characters Included: Arisu, Chota, Karube, Shibuki, Tatta, An, Kuzuryuu, Chisiya, Aguni, Hatter, Mira, Niragi, Kuina, Last Boss, and Momoka & Asahi

Arisu:
Although Arisu is very in-tune with your emotions, he doesn't know how to handle you running into his room with tears streaming down your face. So he freezes, unsure of how to respond, which only makes you start crying harder.
In a panic, Arisu does the only thing he can think of—he grabs the comforter off of his bed and throws it over you, adjusting the fluffy blanket so that it rests over your head and body like a hooded cloak. It's one of the things he used to do to comfort himself when he got scared, so he hopes it'll work for you too. Then, he sits next to you on the bed and drapes his arms around you, holding you close as he lets you cry it out.
Arisu is not one for words during these kinds of situations—touch is more his forté—but every so often, he'll say something like, "It's all gonna be okay" or "It's over, and you're safe." Whether you tell him what happened or you don't, he'll sit with you for as long as you need to feel better.
Chota:
Chota gets extremely uncomfortable when other people are crying—especially when that person is you.
Unlike Arisu's freeze response, Chota jumps immediately into overdrive. He starts fussing over you, asking what's wrong and getting very worried over your increasing distress. When he notices the blood on your hands and arms, he panics further. It's nice to know that he cares so much, but it's a little frustrating to have him reacting so strongly when you're the one suffering.
So, you tell him you need him to help somehow, and it's like something clicks into place. He immediately gets you water and watches intently as you sip it. He takes you to the sink and helps you scrub your hands until all the blood is gone. He draws you a bath and let's you soak, anxiously waiting outside the door in case you need anything else—while also checking in what feel like every two minutes, just to be sure you're okay.
Karube:
Out of The Boys™️, Karube is the most level-headed. So when you come up to him shaking and sobbing, he stops you from running into his arms and asks you (gently but firmly) if you're hurt. Even when you shake your head and whimper a pitiful No, he still gives you a quick once-over to check for any obvious injuries.
Only after that does he let you crash into him, holding your head to his chest as you let your emotions overwhelm you. He is a master of small-talk and sweet nothings, mumbling calm reassurances into your hair as he lazily runs a hand up and down your back in a repetitive, soothing motion.
He doesn't care that you're getting blood and dirt (and tears and snot) all over his favorite shirt—all that matters is you feeling safe and knowing he'll always protect you.
Shibuki:
When you come to Shibuki, covered in blood and trembling from the horrors of your latest game, she's all business. Tough love is her speciality after all, so the first thing she does is make you wash the blood off—to an outsider, it may seem like she's being cruel or uncaring, but you know she's just being practical.
When you can't stop crying, she grabs your face in both of her hands and makes you look directly at her. Calmly amd evenly, she says to you: You are safe. You did what you had to do. She gives you an expectant glare that only softens when you repeat what she said. "I am safe. I did what I had to do." She says it again and you answer, over and over until your breathing evens and you start to believe it.
She lets you stay with her that night, wordlessly facing each other on the bed, until you both fall into a deep, well-deserved sleep.
Tatta:
Sweetheart Tatta sees you in distress and is totally caught off-guard—what terrible thing could have happened to you to make you this upset? As you babble snippets of the horrors you had just witnessed between hiccupping sobs, he listens and pretends to understand.
He realizes that he needs to do something to make you feel better, and fast, so he sits you somewhere comfortable and tells you to wait. He runs out the door, leaving you alone in your misery.
Within ten minutes, he's back—breathing heavily, as if he had just run a mile—and hands you something round and cold. You blink away your tears and see that it's a bowl of ice cream (or frozen, dairy-free dessert), a generous serving of your favorite flavor, with all of your favorite toppings piled high on top. He sheepishly apologizes for taking so long, but he knows people always feel better when they have something good to eat.
You can't help but start laughing at the sweet gesture, and although it doesn't solve everything, it makes you feel a little better nonetheless.
An:
An is cold and calculating on the outside. On the inside, she's rather warm and caring. So when you come to her after nearly dying in a game, she whisks you away from prying eyes and takes you back to the privacy of her room.
Because of her extensive knowledge of the human body, An knows that one of the best ways to relax is to have a massage. Even if the game hadn't been particularly traumatic, you'd still probably be sore from participating, so she offers to help work out some of the tension. She starts with your hands, manipulating your fingers and stroking your palms until you begin to slowly calm down. An is an excellent listener, so when you feel okay enough to start talking about what happened, she pays close attention and doesn't interrupt as you recount your horrific experience.
By the time she moves on to your shoulders, you're feeling both the physical and emotional tension leave your body.
Kuzuryuu:
Kuzuryuu is not the touchy-feely sort, so don't expect a lot of hugs and cuddling from this man.
What you can expect, however, is for him to talk you down. He will reassure you with statistics—that every person who plays a game has a seventy percent* chance of dying, and that there is only a thirteen percent* chance of everyone surviving a game. That is because the games are designed to kill, and whether you had participated or not, there still would have been deaths.
He also reminds you that you are not to blame; living in the Borderlands means making impossible choices every day, and even making the 'wrong' choice doesn't mean you're a bad person.
In a moment of compassion, he puts your hand over yours and reminds you that feelings—even the negative ones—are proof that you are still alive and still human. And here, that means everything.
Chisiya:
Chisiya doesn't often display emotion, so when he sees you a crying mess after finish your latest game, he seems unbothered.
He takes you back to his room and guides you into the bathroom. He has you hop up onto the counter (or, depending, sit on the low stool at the vanity) and fills the sink with warm water. When he gets his small medical kit from the drawer, you know what's about to come next.
Carefully and clinically, Chisiya washes the blood and dirt from your skin with a soft cloth. Once finished, he begins his examination. From head to toe, he looks you over, explaining what he's doing in great detail as he checks for any signs of internal or external damage. He would have been an exceptional doctor—his easygoing manner and soothing voice make you feel at ease as he cleans your wounds with antiseptic and dresses them with sterile bandages. He even prescribes a few medications, along with plenty of rest and fluids to get you feeling better.
It's not the most typical form of comfort, but having someone go to such lengths to make sure you're uninjured makes you feel cared for.
Aguni:
Aguni's knee-jerk response to someone having a mental breakdown in his room is disdain—this is the Borderlands, where you either, as Johnny Cash so eloquently put it, "get tough or die."
But when it's you who's inconsolable...that's different.
Thinking is the root of your problem, all those troublesome thoughts and feelings swirling around in your overwhelmed mind, so he makes it so you don't have to think. In a tone that brokers no arguments, he begins giving orders. Walk to the bathroom. Turn on the light. Go to the sink. Turn on the water. Get soap on your hands. Scrub the blood off. Don't stop until it's all gone.
He walks you through an entire night routine like that—showering, putting on fresh clothes, brushing your teeth—and by the time you're tucking yourself into the extra bed (because he's one of those lucky bastards who has two beds in his room), you find yourself feeling almost numb.
He starts reading aloud from the book he had been keeping on his nightstand—it's just interesting enough to keep the memories of your horrible experience at bay as you slip into sleep.
Hatter:
Hatter is perhaps the most outwardly sympathetic of bunch, saccharine and almost condescending in the way he comforts you as you cry into your hands.
An excellent host, he makes sure your glass is never empty. The alcohol numbs, and before long, you find yourself slumping against him in a twilight-tipsy haze as the room spins. He drapes an arm across your shoulders and talks about all the wonderful things he has in store for the future of the Beach.
You end up in his bed (perhaps even through innocent, platonic means) and you stay the night, taking comfort in the fact that you don't have to be alone.
Mira:
This is hardly the first time Mira has dealt with an emotional breakdown, so she barely bats an eye at your acute distress.
She whisks you away to her room where she guides you into an armchair and pours you a cup of soothing tea. Sitting opposite you, she wears her most serene smile as she guides you through some relaxation exercises. Even though it doesn't seem like they'd help, you start to feel calmer, and that's when she begins to ask you questions about your experience.
You tell her everything, albeit slowly. Certain parts have you choking on your own throat, but she waits patiently until you're able to get the words out. When you start to get a little woozy, you wonder why she hadn't had any tea herself—but that thought is quickly vanished when she starts steering you to bed, tucking the covers beneath your chin tightly as you fall helplessly into a dreamless sleep.
Niragi:
Niragi positively beams when he sees you walking into the room, your hands and clothes covered in fresh blood. He rolls his eyes when he sees your tears, but laughs loudly and drags you away from the crowd.
The roof is his favorite place, so it's no wonder he'd bring you here—but when he puts his gun in your trembling hands, you feel confused.
He helps you aim at a skyscraper across the way, tall windows glistening black and dark in the night. Under his guidance, you pull the trigger and watch one of the windows shatter as he helps you handle the kickback. It feels good, and you shoot until there's no bullets left—windows breaking, Niragi cheering you on as you scream your hurt into the sky.
When it's over, you feel empty. You feel exhausted. Niragi takes the gun back and puts his arm around you, and you slump against him as you watch the stars together.
Kuina:
When it comes to caring for people, Kuina is the best. She's compassionate, clever, and highly empathetic—so when she finds you crying and covered in blood, she's ready to spring into action.
Unlike the others, Kuina asks you what you need before she attempts to do anything. Her hand is resting on your shoulder, her voice steady—her eyes meet your own, tears doing nothing to deter her from giving you what you need.
If you can't tell her what you need, no problem; Kuina knows how to handle that, too. She asks increasingly specific questions: 'do you want to go somewhere quiet?' and 'do you need to see a doctor?' top the list, all the way down to 'can I get you some water?'
By the time you've stopped crying, you're lying in bed with Kuina next to you. She's talking about her old life, the clothes they would sell in the shop where she worked and all the people that would come in and ask for her assistance, and it's one of the only times you feel normal in the Borderlands.
Last Boss:
Emotions don't come easily to Last Boss, so when he sees you in distress, he pauses. It's not that he's uncomfortable, it's more that he has a hard time relating. But he knows that he cares for you, and that he wants to do something to help.
So he takes you back to his room. He keeps the lights off, letting only the glow of the moon from the window illuminate the space. When he nods towards the bed, you walk over, and when you lay down, he nods his assent. He sits in the armchair across from the bed, katana unsheathed and his eyes watching you closely.
"Death is a part of life," he tells you simply, and for some reason, it's oddly comforting. You are able to drift off to much-needed sleep knowing that you have someone to watch over you and keep you safe.
Momoka and Asahi:
Don't be fooled—just because they're younger than most of the other Beach residents doesn't mean they don't know how to react in a crisis. When they see you having a panic attack after your latest game, they work together to calm you down.
The nightclub bathroom is disgusting, but it has a mirror and plenty of room for the three of you. Asahi scrubs the blood from beneath your fingernails while Momoka helps you regulate your breathing and gives you tissues to wipe the tears away.
Then they drag you onto the dance floor, despite your protests, and all but force you to dance. The music is so loud, it makes it impossible for you to think about anything else, so you let everything go and move your body with the rhythm. It's cathartic, dancing with your friends, and it helps you feel at least a little bit more okay despite everything you've witnessed in the Borderlands.
✨️✨️✨️✨️✨️✨️✨️✨️✨️✨️✨️✨️✨️✨️✨️✨️
...And that's what we've got! Some of them are better equipped to deal with emotional distress than others, to put it lightly! I tried to really think what the character would do, so hopefully I got it right. Or, right enough.
Thanks for reading! 💕

Yowamushi Pedal Live-Action Film's Additional Cast Members include Mizuki Inoue from HiHi Jets
The official website for the forthcoming live-action film adaptation of Wataru Watanabe's road bicycle racing-themed sports manga Yowamushi Pedal announced six additional cast members today.
As reported, 21-year-old Ren Nagase (Johnny & Associates' boys idol group King & Prince member) is cast as the protagonist Sakamichi Onoda, and the additional members include 19-year-old Mizuki Inoue (as Terufumi Sugimoto), a member of another boy idol group from Johnny & Associates, HiHi Jets. Inoue has performed with Nagase on the stage plays such as "JOHNNYS'ISLAND" before, but this is the first time that he has co-starred with him in a feature film.
Message from Mizuki Inoue:
"I'm Mizuki Inoue from HiHi Jets, and I played the role of Terufumi Sugimoto. I have been reading the original manga Yowamushi Pedal for a long time, so I was full of surprise and joy when I heard about the offer. Actually, it was quite difficult to be filmed while riding a road racer, and I had difficulties sometimes, but more than that, the time to communicate with the other cast members was like a real club activity and I enjoyed it! I want many people to see and feel the speed of road racing and Sohoku High's youth!"
Additional cast members:
Shoukichi Naruko: Ryota Bando (22)
Shingo Kinjou: Ryo Ryusei (27)
Yuusuke Makishima: Shuntaro Yanagi (28)
Jin Tadokoro: Ken Sugawara (24)
Terufumi Sugimoto: Mizuki Inoue (19)
Kouji Kanzaki (the main heroine Miki's father): Sarutoki Minagawa (49)

Ikedaya - Distribution of rewards
In addition to the letter, Kondo also translated the list of participants in the incident in Ikeda-I from Shinsengumi. He is in Japan and is in the comments to Nagakura’s memoirs, indicating who received the award for this. They gave out, by the way, honestly: whoever took part the most, that and more money. Nearby, I attributed the years of life and some people the cause of death. Of the 34 people, only six survived until peacetime, and eight more are not known. List of awarded 30 ryos (as well as a katana and a barrel of sake) Kondo Isami (10/09/1834 - 04/25/1868) 23 ryo Hijikata Toshizo (05/05/1835 - 11/05/1869) 20 ryo 1) Okita Soji (1842/44 - 05/30/1868 ) 2) Nagakura Shimpachi (04.11.1839 -. 05.01 in 1915 ) 3) Todo Hay (1844 - 11/18/1867 incident in Aburanokodzi) 4) Tanya Mantaro (1835 -. 30.06 in 1886 ) 5) Asano Toutaro / Kaoru (-? 1867 ?) 6) Takeda Kanryusai (? - 06/22/1867, Saito)
Awarded posthumously (the money was transferred to their families):
7) Okuzawa Eiske (? - 05/06/1864, died in the barracks from wounds received in Ikeda-ya) 8) Ando Hayataro (? - 07/22/1864) 9) Nitta Kakuzaemon (? - 07/22/1864) The last two guarded the back door to Ikeda-I, also died from wounds, and one day. These 9 people entered the Kondo squad. For some reason, Shuhei is not among them, contrary to the letter, but there is his brother - Tani Mantaro.
17 ryo
1) Gendzaburo Inoue (1829 - 01/05/1868, the Battle of Toba-Fushimi) 2) Harada Sanosuke (1840 - 17/05/1868 missing after the Battle of Ueno) 3) Saito Hajime (01.01.1844 - 28.09. 1915 ) 4) Shimada Kai (15.01.1828 - 20.03. 1900 ) 5) Shinozuka / Shinokhara Menezo (there is no data on Wiki, but it is known from Hijikata's letter that on October 5, 1864 he personally released the castle from the squad at the request of Matsudaira Katamori, who wished his former vassal to return to him) 6 ) Kawashima Katsuji (? - 1866) A rare case, he was kicked out of Shinsen for cowardice! But they later killed in Osaka for carrying out financial fraud, or just robbery, hiding behind the name of Shinsengumi. Moreover, Toyama Yahei killed him (no, not Saito!) - a Satsumi spy in the service of Shinsen. 7) Hayashi Shintaro (? - 10.27.1868, died in battle on the Mito tract) 8) Kazurayama Takehatiro (? - September 6, 1864, seppuku for Nagakura’s petition. Either voluntarily in a fit of anger, or forced. Dark business.) 9 ) Tani Sanjuro (? - 04/01/1866, Saito) 10) Misina Tyuji (? -?) 11) Aridoshi Kango (1839 - 05/11/1869, the Battle of Hakodate) 15 ryo 1) Matsubara Tyuji (1835? - 01/09/1865, in the Shinsengumi registers “died of illness”, there is suspicion seppuku for contact with the widow, whose husband he killed) 2) Iki Hatiro (? - escaped from the detachment in 1867, no further information) 3) Nakamura Kingo (? -? was listed in the standard bearers, after 1867 there is no information about him ) 4) Odzeki Yashiro (1831 - 11/07/1865, the elder brother of the standard bearer Odzeki, was discharged from Shinsen due to an illness from which he died the same year) 5) Shukuin Ryozo (1821 - 01/06/1868, the battle of Toba-Fushimi) 6 ) Sasaki uranoske (-? to July 1865 was registered in Shinsene, then somewhere has got) 7) Kawai Kisaburo (1838 - 02/12/1866, seppuku for embezzlement of public funds for six possible reasons) 8) Sakai Hyugo (? - July 1865, escaped from the detachment, it is assumed that he was killed by Okita) 9) Kyuchi Mineta (? -? Left from the detachment, along with Ito, served in the Kyoto police during the Meiji era ) 10) Matsumoto Kijiro (no data on Wiki) 11) Takeuchi Gentaro (no data on Wiki) 12) Kondo Shuhei, aka Tani Sentaro (05.20.1848 - 02.12. 1901 ) They remained in the barracks and did not receive any money: Yamanami Keiske, Ozeki Masajiro, Yamazaki Susumu, Yanagida Sanjiro, Ogata Shuntaro, Yamano Yasohati. Dates are everywhere on the lunar calendar, she wrote familiar first names as usual, unfamiliar mostly as expected, according to Polivanov)) In Japan (and in other sources) there is a version that the detachment was divided not into two parts, as Kondo wrote, but into three: 10, 12 and 12 people (under the command of Kondo, Hijikata and Inoue Genzaburo). 10 surveyed the west coast from Kondo, the rest east, because there are more hotels there. But judging by the list, this third detachment is frankly weak, especially compared to the first two. Probably, these 12 people just somehow did not show themselves very well. Kondo Shuhei including. Although for some reason it seems to me that Kondo Isami would not have given his newly adopted son to some other detachment, but would have taken him with him. Perhaps he was nevertheless sent for help, but he was not in a hurry back ... Well, nothing, I’ll still read Nagakur, it will be visible there))
Simpleton: on the Hijikati blog, Megumi found this book:

I don’t want this myself, but I really liked the picture!

Oh my goodness gracious-
Just- Everyone is either dead, bonked to hell, dramatically standing there,
Or Niragi underwater after a fresh dose of crispy.
They really had to rub it in. 🔥♥️🔥
I’m sorry, but I will never forgive the Alice in Borderland drama production team for leaving out this scene where they show an update of where the players are at towards the end of the 10 of Hearts and where the shot given for Niragi is fucking bubbles under water with steam rising

Week 1 assignment
Data set: Gapminder
Research Question: Are female employment and suicide rates related?
Hypothesis: Female employment is negatively associated with the suicide rate only in countries with greater gender equality (higher rate of female employment).
Search terms used: “female employment rate and suicide rate”
Literature review references and findings:
1. Reeves found no evidence of a link between gender equality (in the form of the gender ratio in labor force participation) and suicide rates in either men or women. However, a greater degree of gender equality helped protect against suicidality associated with economic shocks. At relatively high levels of gender equality in Europe, such as those seen in Sweden and Austria, the relationship between rising unemployment rates and suicide in men disappeared altogether
Reeves, Aaron, and David Stuckler. “Suicidality, Economic Shocks, and Egalitarian Gender Norms.” European sociological review 32.1 (2016): 39–53. PMC. Web. 23 Feb. 2017.
2. A positive association was observed between unemployment rate and female suicide rates of specific age groups in Quebec. Cormier et all also observed a positive association between unemployment rate and male suicide rate of specific age group
Cormier, H.J. & Klerman, G.L. Soc Psychiatry (1985) 20: 109. doi:10.1007/BF00583575
3. The correlation between the unemployment rate and suicide rate was not statistically significant but the unemployment rate was correlated with the male suicide rate. Also, the suicide rate was correlated with the male unemployment rate.

Ooooooooh fancy~ Love a good new supernatural mythical AU~
AiB supernatural AU.
(Not the CW show, just thek as supernatural creatures)
Hatter: Your usual trickster. He can alter reality to a certain degree, but mostly to fit his pranks.
Aguni: Somethibg like a Stone golem. He was made by a witch who wanted a kid, but she died a long time ago.
Ann: Witch. But in a more alchemist-scientist kind of way.
Tatta: Redcap, except he rarely kills people, so his cap is mostly clean.
Chishiya: Vampire. He despises the descriptions frok midia though. His hair used to be Black but turned white after he turned.
Kuina: Siren. Do I even need to explain?
Niragi: Gorgon. Lizard man at his finest.
Last Boss: Oni. The Tattoos? The sword? Yep, he's an oni alright.
Usagi: Dryad. Her tree is in the mountains, where her dad literally found her. It explains her connection to nature.
Arisu: Banshee. He actually thought he was a human, until his friends died. That was the first time he screamed.
Karube: Werewolf. But in a more shapeshifter, can control the transformation, kind of way.
Chouta: The human of the group. The church that raised him trained him as something like a cleric tho.
Shibuki: Vampire. She was really iffy about Chota at first. Probably drank blood out of a wine glass.
Mira: Witch, but like, evil. Makes deals, human sacrifices and all. Parallel to Ann.
Kuzuryuu: A dragon? His tired and logical attitude kind of fits.
Asahi: A cute druid. She was mostly a healer and connected well with Usagi due to both of them being nature oriented.
Momoka: Also a witch, but more in a tarot cards and charms kind of way.
