request | how the v3 boys would react to an S/O that stares
type | react , established relationship , light hearted , fluff , gender neutral reader.
Tumblr media
shuichi saihara ♡
he would be the type to ask if you're okay
he thought you just zoned out
you would usually find yourself staring at him or something on him
and just start daydreaming
"i'm alright!" you'd insist
he 's just checking
finds it endearing
rantaro amami ♡
he would notice your staring
and then just gently bring his hand up to your shoulder and rub it a lil
"you're in your head again" he would say
nooo you really just like looking at him and it happens to turn into staring
"maybe..." you sigh
his arms wrap around you slowly and bring you into his chest for a hug
he doesn't mind that you stare
as long as it's you, it's fine
K1B0/kiibo ♡
he would mirror your expression
he finds it pretty interesting
he also really likes your big eyes
it's something he usually doesn't see
unless he looks at his reflection lol
"see, i have big eyes too!"
he'd show you a mechanic that makes his eyes glow
korekiyo shinguji ♡
he's also the type to stare so he doesn't mind you doing it
he just has narrow eyes as opposed to having bigger ones
he finds you absolutely beautiful
he imagines your eyes as a window to your soul that he enjoys looking into
'and what a beautiful soul that is' he would think to himself
he admires you a lot, so he would stare right back
kaito momota ♡
swears up and down he can see the moon and stars reflecting in your eyes everytime you two go out at night
when he notices you staring at the nightsky, he'd smile
"it's almost as beautiful as you, right?"
he's a goofball
one day, someone had said: "what's wrong (Y/N)? you look as though you've seen a ghost."
"WHAT?" kaito grabs ahold of you in a panic
"(Y/N) SAY IT AIN'T SO"
gonta gokuhara ♡
"is (Y/N) alright?"
you reassure gonta multiple times that that's just how you look
he just wants to check up on you
just like a true gentleman would
over time he understands
definitely gets a little flustered when you stare at him
dw gonta there's nothing on your face
he feels at ease whenever you two go out and watch all the bugs just doing their thing
"bug almost as cute as (Y/N)"
ryoma hoshi ♡
indifferent at first, just as he is to a lot of other things
"you need something?"
you tell him that it's just how you look
he understands
soon after he plans a date with you
you go to a cat cafe to watch the adorable little creatures play all afternoon
whenever he notices you staring at him, he asks you to lean down
you do so and he gives you a kiss on the cheek
other times though, he slides his beanie down to his forehead
looking away from you, totally embarrassed!
he's cute
kokichi ouma ♡
"hey what'cha staring at? heyheyhey"
tries to get your attention on him
however whenever you do stare at him
he's like:
"(Y/N) come onnnn! stop it you're making me self-concious!!!"
that's a lie btw (he secretly loves it)
whenever your eyes are on him he acts out even more to get you to notice him
he sees your neutral expression as you being bored (even when you are not)
so he wants to do everything he can to get you to think he's super interesting!
before getting together he always wondered if it was working
but now he has his answer ;)

its been almost 6 years since kaito and ouma have infested me. here's me talking out of my ass for over 2k words
to love the ouma-kaito dynamic is to love the themes of v3. to see one of them as 100% correct and the other as 100% wrong is to hate the themes of v3.
there must be balance. which is one of the themes!
at first, they each represent one end of their spectrums: lies, distrust, and logic VS truth, trust, and emotion. but it's not all black and white— they're far more similar than they think
to get the obvious visual foiling out of the way: short vs tall, scrawny vs muscular, pale vs tan (relatively...), round eyes vs sharp eyes, cool purple vs warm purple, black and white vs a colorful galaxy, and a tight "straitjacket" vs what's basically loose pjs
they're visual opposites, but they're also both purple, charismatic leaders, would rather die than their let go of their respective roles of hero and villain, and both want to end the killing game. they're also both SO dramatic. they cannot be separated.
all this is to say that they're the same, just taking different approaches (i mean, just compare their early FTEs. what are you two FUCKING talking about. your ass is NOT a pirate kaito shut up). ouma hides drops of truth within his lies and lives to poke holes in others' poorly concealed lies. kaito talks about being honest, but is also constantly lying to himself and others. and it's so fitting for them to essentially die with each other.
lying your way to the truth, and 10 other tricks to surviving a killing game:
v3 is a game that asks: who are you? why are you even alive? what parts of you are really "you"?
in other words: what is true and what is a lie? does it matter?
the flashback lights are all lies. tsumugi can literally rewrite their "truth" as she wishes. and of course, there's the fact that they're all fictional characters come to life.
and there's the big lie of ch1, brought back in ch6. although this is less relevant to me, personally, because kaede fully intended and did try her damnedest to kill so either way she's still at fault soo
the theme of the survivors is that they all have a reason to fight to live even if the world is hell, because they're pushed forward by the connections they made— kaede's encouragements, the training with kaito that led to shuichi and maki's happiness, and himiko's memories of tenko and angie. even though maki loses kaito, because she had those good times with him that led to her change in self-worth, she'll be okay in the end. she's not enforcing her own loneliness anymore.
basically, "maybe the real reason to live is the friends we made along the way"
shuichi explicitly says that his feelings are true, even if they're born of lies. to lie, there has to be a truth. to be truthful, you can't lie. yin yang and all that
it's even shown with the game mechanic of perjury. kaede and shuichi can literally lie for the sake of finding the truth
he rejects being forced to choose between "hope" and "despair," breaking the cycle. it's pretty easy to apply this to the other dichotomies in v3: truth vs lies, trust vs distrust, logic vs emotion. even heroes vs villains.
ultimately, i think v3 aligns more closely with kaito's ideology, because of course truth and trust is a good thing....!, but not without poking massive holes in it too. because kaito's a prideful hypocrite and the game does NOT let you forget it <3 more on that later
little white lies AKA ouma is sick of your shit part 1:
"is the truth worth it? aren't feel-good white lies ok? what even is a lie?" ouma asks with his little hater heart. (ch1 and ch4)
Tumblr media
here, we see ouma questioning the individual nature of common sense ("gut instinct", if you will)— how can kaede decide if his talent is a lie? what is a lie? if ouma is 99% lies by weight, what is ouma??? an annoying grape??
we all want the truth, right? but the truth can be ugly. that's what ouma's always showing.
this is something shuichi also tackles with his feelings on his own talent. by exposing the truth, he causes pain to others. but this isn't about him, so you'll just have to keep that in mind
in the death road to despair in ch1, it's kaede's optimism that causes misery to the rest of her classmates. they're lying to themselves when they try to do it over and over. again, ouma calls her out on it, pissing off kaito who supports kaede 100%. the idea they can all get out and become friends is…also really unlikely. and even with kaede's murder "for the greater good", ouma disparages her for doing it in the first place: she lost the moment she seriously considered the thought, and played right into monokuma's bloodthirsty lil' paws.
right after the ch3 execution, himiko still refuses to let herself feel… until ouma calls her out on it. stop lying to yourself. and they all let it out, crying together. it's a good thing, and spurs on himiko's arc to be more true to herself. you did a good thing, ouma. now onto ch4! yay!
the "truth of the outside world", and ch4 as a whole, is probably the most in your face way of showing this. but more on that later.
the boys are back:
if you want a good relationship with someone, vulnerability is key, one that ouma unfortunately can't replace with a lockpick. you have to be honest. maki and shuichi were honest to kaito, which let him help them out.
ouma is definitely not vulnerable, up until the very end. ouma's distrust of everyone pushes them away, leaving him alone— without the "reason to fight to live" the others have— living out of spite and determination, until he dies for that too. like maki, he reinforces his own loneliness, but unlike her, he never makes those connections that make him change into a more well-rounded person.
kaito's better than him, which is a really low bar, but the game goes out of its way to tell you that he's still hiding secrets and adamantly refuses to let down his hero persona, harming both himself and those around him. you are COUGHING UP BLOOD, you are NOT okay. while his sidekicks still know something is wrong, he refuses to truly let them in, instead just brushing them off.
and that pisses ouma off. at the very least, ouma's honest about being a liar. kaito, in his eyes, is a coward. (not only that, people still like him despite being a liar..... but that's probably more to do with kaito being way less of a dick).
ouma, in kaito's eyes, is also a coward. he can call ouma a two-faced coward as much as he wants, but pot, meet kettle
chapter 4 AKA ouma is sick of your shit part 2:
ok. seriously onto ch4 this time. it's the perfect set up to the insanity of ch5. the tension is insane. also, ouma does not shut up about kaito having a crush on him. ok man.
from now on, it's the kaito & ouma show, the truth & trust & hope & emotion & hero VS lies & distrust & despair & logic & villain show.
and the game puts kaito, and all his themes, in the wrong. poor gonta and shuichi are just along for the ride
the stubborn belief that worked so well for maki in ch2 makes kaito refuse to believe, despite the evidence pointing to it, that gonta is the blackened, endangering everyone. and this is the cause of kaito and shuichi's rift which ouma takes great pleasure in. i'm sure this greatly validates his own distrust and loneliness, seeing it as the superior option
kaito's a liar, shuichi's a liar, and gonta is...not a liar but still technically wrong. YOU'RE ALL LIARS AND KAITO/SHUICHI STANS. YOUR FAVE IS PROBLEMATIC. OUMA'S FUCKING PISSED
it's the hypocrisy that gets to him the most imo
Tumblr media
does he know?
Tumblr media
anyways, it's a great showdown between their two ideologies. up until now, i'd say the score was roughly 3:1 in kaito's favor, but now it's definitely more even. it even features ouma punching kaito instead of the other way around like last time: something made possible imo because of kaito's sickness, which ouma forces him and everyone to acknowledge by doing this
this is a massive L for the hero side.... can the sidekicks clutch this victory and save the princess?
(interestingly enough, note that kaito doesn't even seem to hate ouma after all that. at the start of ch5, he puts ouma and gonta in the same category as having snapped under the pressure due to monokuma. his feelings, of course, change later on.)
Tumblr media
...
Tumblr media
are you sure about that
yeah, the truth sucks sometimes, huh?
what now?
chapter 5 AKA the boys are back 2 AKA voyage without passion or purpose AKA the sickest chapter name ever
Tumblr media
ch5 combines ouma and kaito's ideologies through their swansong, their magnum opus, their collective theatre kid dream
the hangar man. THE HANGAR. no more cameras. no more prying eyes. no more heroes. no more villains. NO PASSION (KAITO). NO PURPOSE (OUMA). WHAT'S THE POINT. IT ALL BLURS (probably because of the blood loss)
think about it this way: kaito is literally dying, hypocritically refusing to let his friends in. ouma is metaphorically dying, because he lacks the "reason to fight to survive" everyone else has, because he has no trust, no friends, no bitches... anyways
(also the poison, which is. you know. is also literally killing him but shush)
the closest he had was, imo, miu for a little, then kaito in ch5. but in the end, it's all spite, not connection, that drives him. ouma kills himself to prove a point, and they both die as a middle finger to the mastermind— a hollow victory, in many ways.
think about kaito sitting alone in the exisal, hacking his lungs out in the metallic silence of the belly of the beast, having just learned one of the truths behind ouma's act, then killing him, then having to lie to all your friends for the hope that ouma's final, crazy plan works out. he's finally stooped to ouma's level. he's so used to the smell of blood by now. does ouma's blood on his hands look any different from his own?
even kaito's motto: "the impossible is possible! all you gotta do it make it so!" is pretty much an admittance. you can make a lie (impossible) the truth (possible).
also ouma bleeding out looking like shit laying in kaito's galactic coat like a cape. kaito squeezing his eyes shut before before pressing the buttons. these images changed lives.
Tumblr media
the lying truthersssss...working together!!! to literally pretend to be each other!!! to blur into one being!! trusting each other to see it through for their shared goal!! at first glance, maki thinks it's her fault— that ouma manipulated kaito using her, but kaito disagrees, saying it was for the sake of ending the killing game.
this is all to hammer home the idea that we shouldn't see them as "hero" or "villain." the cast sees them as it first, but of course, we know that's not so simple by the time kaito steps out of the exisal.
in the end, they fail, but kaito puts his and ouma's dreams in their hands. they can do it better this time.
plus, kaito finally stops lying to himself and others about being a liar, the thing ouma gave him endless shit for. it only took him 5 chapters
is it wrong to call "that was a lie" ouma's catchphrase?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
i still can't believe maki believed him. love makes you stupid i guess
extra thoughts:
you might be wondering why i call him "ouma" and not "kokichi." i do the same with some other characters: kirigiri, togami (though i switch between that and byakuya nowadays), and komaeda. it's because i don't know them like that. we are NOT friends. "kirigiri" is out of respect however
don't you think ouma has his own "sidekicks," his "villain lackeys," if you will, in DICE?
kaito's execution music should've had the "reach for the stars" line from sdr2 and i'm still mad about it
and they should've both in that exisal idc
kaito somehow exited that exisal with a new jacket. it's my headcanon that, in respect of a fellow theatre kid, ouma stole a second jacket from kaito's room and put it in the exisal
VR au post game low(high)key codependent oumota is everything and i'll happily read 1000 fics about it
also just outside of the Themes of it all, and tbh my main draw to this duo... they're so funny. they are SO. FUNNY. THEY'RE SO GOOFY TOGETHER. STOP TRYING TO ONE UP EACH OTHER
they should run around and beat each other with toy hammers. it's enrichment.
this isn't like thematically relevant but their love hotel events really show how well they could work together. they want a rival to pump them up and fight back so bad!! they'd have the craziest vigilante beef
WHY IS THIS 2.1K WORDS/???!> i am so weak to rivals man
tldr: look at this meme.
tldr 2.0: a true kaito fan is also a true ouma fan and vice versa. you may not like it, but they're two peas in a pod. don't worry though, they're not happy about it either.

hiiiiiii can you please do Kokichi, Kaede, and Shuichi (separate) with a fem!s/o who needs help feeding themselves? Like at home one of their older siblings or parents has to help them bring the spoon to their mouth and/or spoon feed em because they're so nervous about eating? I have OCD type ARFID and I'm always really scared of eating to the point I need help feeding myself and comfort from my favorite characters might help 😭 im so sorry if this makes you uncomfy
No its alright! I dont mind at all <3
Kokichi, Kaede and Shuichi spoonfeeding their s/o (fem!y/n)
Kokichi
He'd think about it for a moment, pretending as if he's against the idea but it's just to tease you, he'd feed you every day if he was asked to.
He loves being able to feed you because not only is he being helpful, but he feels good about himself knowing he can take care of your needs.
Definitely starts giggling every time you open your mouth to take a bite.
Like I'm not even joking, sometimes he'll drop it before he can even feed you because he's kicking his legs too much.
You'll raise a brow at him because he's starting to twirl his hair, and now he even insists on calling himself your wife.
"Kokichi wtf are you doing?" "Shhh.. Let wifey take care of you... Blinks eyelashes aggressively"
But the first time when you asked him to, it wasn't that he was uncomfortable, but you could've sworn he started to sweat and his hand was shaking the whole time.
When you ask him if he's okay, he'll "Nishishi~ Don't worry about it!" it's off but he's trying to make sure that he doesn't hit your face with the spoon or something.
Also he does a taste test before he feeds you. Just to make sure that it's not poisoned, yk? Totally not because he wants to see if the food is yummy.
Imagine if you look inside your bowl because for some suspicious reason, the spoonful's aren't even full. They're just tiny portions. And the bowl is like, 80% empty because your stupid boyfriend ate everything.
It's a disaster, but it's out of love.
Shuichi
REALLLLLLYYY shy about it.
He wants to so badly but it's like he can never get used to it. Not when you look so cute whenever you let out a little "aah" before taking a bite.
He'll short-circuit halfway through putting the spoon in your mouth.
Apologizes for EVERYTHING.
If even a bit of food was on your lip, he's gonna give you a thousand apologies, and he's not gonna stop until you tell him to politely shut up 😭
"IM SORRY IM SORRY IM SORRY I DIDN'T MEAN T-" "Shuichi.. It's okay.. You can stop now.."
He's a clever boy, when you asked him to feed you because you needed help, first thought was just to do what you asked for because it was probably for something important.
He's not the best at it, but much better than Kokichi. At least he doesn't eat your food..
Insists on giving you seconds because he wants to make sure your satisfied and healthy.
If you're eating or munching on something unhealthy like ice cream, he'll probably sneak a few bites though. Not because he wants to actually eat your stuff, but he just doesn't want you getting diabetes or smth LMAO
Anxious little baby, and it's obvious too
Kaede
Hands down literally the best most caring sweetest girlfriend ever it's baffling.
Even if you don't ask to, she's still gonna feed you because she loves showing that she cares.
She's smiling the whole time and it makes your face get all hot every. single. time.
Starts humming in the middle of it
When you're finished, she washes all the dishes, and plays some piano for you afterward.
It gives you baby fever because she has that motherly kind of care to it.
When you asked her the first time, her face lit up like a Christmas tree and she didn't even ask any questions about it either.
"Hey Darling? Could y-" "Of course cutiee!~"
She makes sweet little comments while you're taking bites like "Awh your eyes are so pretty!" or "Have I ever told you how perfect you are?"
She always blows on the food before giving it to you so you don't burn your mouth.
If you're eating soup or having something messy, she'll tie your hair up first so nothing gets in the way of you enjoying your meal.
She's such a romantic it makes me wanna melt.

Bonten - With Debbie Jelinsky Male Reader
🐇.•°•.🐇.•°•.🐇.•°•.🐇.•°•.🐇.•°•.🐇.•°•.🐇.•°•.🐇.
Okay! So, I decided that the business partner, named Matsumoto Jun because I can't keep calling him 'Business Partner', is embezzling money from Bonten. Bonten is planning to kill him but the reader beats them to it. I hope this is what you wanted 🫓Flatbread Anon. —Benny🐰
Part 1 Part 2

Tumblr media
🎴•♡•🎴•♡•🎴•♡•🎴•♡•🎴•♡•🎴•♡•🎴•♡•🎴
Sakūmou [Name], now known as Matsumoto [Name] has always been sensitive and delicate in outward appearance. His wide doe eyes and pretty smiles have always drawn in those who look for love in someone that seemingly needs their protection.
It really is such a shame though, that they had no clue what kind of monster they had just let into their life. They had no idea just how mush blood the unassuming and fragile looking man had on his hands.
And this too was the case for Matsumoto Jun, [Name]'s latest husband.
Matsumoto Jun, 46 years old, owns Matsumoto Industrial, a construction company that became very successful after gaining a partnership with Bonten.
Jun met his darling husband at a high end bar a year ago where he became absolutely smitten upon first laying his eyes upon the fragile looking [Name]. He was quick to strike up a conversation involving his business successes and his vast accumulation of wealth in an attempt to impress h/c-ette, and oh, was that the biggest mistake he ever made.
▪︎■🐰■▪︎■🐰■▪︎■🐰■▪︎
"Holy shit."
Says a shocked Sanzu as he looks through the window of the building opposite to them with the binoculars in hand.
"What is it?"
Kakucho groans in annoyance as he glances at the pinkette he was partnered with.
The two were sent to stake out the condo of Matsumoto Jun; one of Bonten's business partners who was suspected of embezzling money from Bonten; to make absolutely sure that they were in fact embezzling. It'd be a waste to kill off a good source of income over a false observation, after all.
So the two of them settled in on the roof of the building directly across from their target's condo and waited.
"Some guy just knocked 'im the fuck out. Well, looks like our jobs gonna be done for us. Let's go, I'm expecting some of the good shit later."
The pinkette smirked as he began to pack up some of the equipment brought with them.
"What? No! What if he ends up being fine after this? How would Mikey react to a failed job from you of all people? We should stay here and wait it out."
The partially blind man argues as he snatches the bag Sanzu was repacking and puts it off to the side.
The pinkette growls, muttering a small 'fine', before he looks through the binoculars again. He watches the unidentified man passed the window several times; grabbing several items and bringing them to another room out of view. The man then drags the unconscious target slowly across the room, clearly having trouble, before stopping midway and turning his head to the window. Sanzu flinches as it seems the man looks right into his eyes before he approaches the window and quickly closes the curtains.
"Shit. Did you get a picture of 'im?"
Sanzu asks as he quickly resumes packing up their equipment.
"Already sent it to Kokonoi."
"Matsumoto [Name]. Other names being Sakūmou [Name], Yamamoto [Name], Sato [Name], and [Surname] [Name].
He's currently married to your target, Matsumoto Jun, but has been married three times before now. Sakūmou Kenjirou, Yamamoto Taiga and Sato Shuichi were both found mysteriously dead in their homes with all of their finances depleted.
This guy seems to be a serial killer so you both need to be fucking quick; we can't loose out on any of our income, you hear me! I'm sending the Haitani's too, they should be there any minute now."
Kokonoi says quickly through the phone, belting out information as fast as possible as their time is running out.
On cue the Haitanis pulled in front the condo, meeting Sanzu and Kakucho on the side walk as the two fill them in on the vital information while they make their way inside.
"You remember our first date, Jun? Oh, it was so magical! You took me out to dinner on top of the Tokyo Tower and to top the night off, you got me this gorgeous mink coat!"
[Name] coos at his bound and gagged husband as he gracefully walks around him in a circle, tracing his hand across his chest, shoulders and back as he holds a pistol with the other hand.
The h/c-ette runs his fingers over the soft, expensive furred coat that he wore, smiling fondly at the memory. He stops behind the balding man and rests his hand on his shoulder, giving a harsh squeeze as he digs his manicured nails in.
"But it's not enough. You took me into your home, you provided for me, but did you love me? Really love me? ...So I— I killed. So I maimed. So I destroyed one innocent life after another. But aren't I a human being? Don't I yearn and... ache and... shop? Don't I deserve your love ...your money?"
[Name] whines out to him, face drawn into a pout as he swings the gun in his hand around with each enunciation of his words. His e/c eyes becoming glassy with unshed tears and his cheeks and nose flushing a soft pink hue.
"Mmnph hhmp hn ghmp hngh hmp"
The bound Jun attempts to speak through his gag to now avail, but [Name] can see how he generally feels from his confused and fearful expression.
The h/c-ette reaches forward and yanks the gag from his husband's mouth, allowing him to speak.
"I— I don't know what you mean by killing... But Baby, I‐I do love you, I promise! I still have so much to spend on you too. Just untie me a‐and it's all water under the bridge."
Jun pleads, his voice shaky as he tries to reason with his homicidal lover.
[Name] stares at him blankly; clearly unimpressed that he hadn't bothered to check on his finances and see that he was dirt poor now that [Name] had cleaned out all of his bank accounts in record time. Might as well let him know.
"You don't actually, I've made sure of that. You don't even have a penny to your name as of now, my darling Jun."
"B‐But that's— No no it's fine! I'm expecting quite a large s‐sum of money from my sponsor, in fact it should have already been deposited by now."
The bound man belts out in desperation, unknowingly sealing his fate from just that revelation alone.
The h/c-ette sprouts a wide eyed smile as he walks around to the front of the chair. He sits the gun aside on a nearby coffee table and grips both of older man's shoulders as he takes a seat on his lap.
"Oh? How much?"
[Name] asks enthusiastically as he flutters his long gorgeous lashes at Jun, running a finger up and down his chest sensually.
The balding man chuckles nervously as he gives his husband a shaky smile, thanking whatever deity that'll listen for allowing him to be a scumbag and start embezzling money.
"3.8 million. A-All for you, Baby."
"Really?... Well, it's just too bad that I don't believe you, isn't it."
The h/c-ette coos, whispering the last part into Jun's ear, as he runs his finger through what's left of the man's graying hair. He stands quietly before taking up his already cocked gun once again and settling it under his husband's chin, his finger on the trigger.
"3.8 million. A‐All for you, Baby."
"Really?..."
"Well shit, there's the proof."
Rindou whispered as he watches the seemingly resolved hostage situation from his crouched position next to the other three executives.
"You think he'll kill him or wil we have to step in and do it? He look pretty satisfied, right now."
Kakucho asks quietly, glancing at his coworkers for their input.
"I don't care either way, really. Hey, you think we can keep him? He's pretty hot, I'd love to get a taste of that."
Ran chuckled, a smirk spreading across his lips as his lustfully eyes trace up and down [Name]'s figure, undressing him with his eyes.
Sanzu groans as he stands abruptly, drawing the attention of the other three. Kakucho attempts to pull him back down but the pinkette aggressively shakes his arm off.
"Let's get this shit over with already. I' just remembered I've got some leftover Blow in my office."
He grumbles in annoyance, he's been sober for way too long and it's really catching up with him now.
BANG!
The sound of a gunshot resonates throughout the condo, the sudden noise startling the four Bonten executives and making them flinch in surprise.
[Name] sighs as he looks at the blood spattered on his once beautiful mink coat before slipping it off his shoulders and tossing it onto the sofa next to his deceased husband.
He looks at Jun's body, his eyes trailing down to his ring adorned hands. Grabbing the rings between his index, middle finger and thumb, the h/c-ette tugs them off of the older man's thick fingers. [Name] smiles, admiring the three rings in his hand for a moment before slipping them into his pocket.
"You know, Jun honey, I would've liked you more if you just gave me the business.—"
The e/c eyed man cood as he stroked his dead husband's bloody cheek.
"—It would've helped if you could've gotten it up as well, but guess it's my fault for marrying a tubby old man, huh."
[Name] stares lovingly at the corpse for a while, stroking his cheek with the backs of his fingers and playing with his blood matted hair.
"Now... What do I do with your body? Hm?"
The h/c-ette asks rhetorically, only to be startled by a voice behind him.
"We'll take the body, pretty.—"
Ran chuckles as he wraps an arm around the e/c eyed man's waist and pulls him in close so the shorters back is flush against his chest.
"—Don't worry, we're not the police, we're Bonten."
And for once, [Surname] [Name] felt like he was prey instead of predator.

I want to make a request, I hope its okay. I will like to request for Rantaro, Shuichi and Kaede finding out that soon will be their s/o's birthday but they didn't tell them because s/o is used to that their family just doesn't give much importance to their birthday and don't do nothing too special for it
I hope its okay or it isn't too confusing, Im just a little sensitive with the topic of my birthday right now and I will like a little comfort, but don't worry I don't want to rush you, please take your time
HAPPY BIRTHDAY ANON!! & thank you sm for the kind words <3
rantaro amami, shuichi saihara, and kaede akamatsu when it's their s/o's birthday:
category: fluff, comfort, headcanons
notes: i hope your special day gets brighter ^^
Rantaro Amami:
Tumblr media
• he's been preparing a very special gift for you for many, many months now and has had the day of your birthday marked down in all his calendars • "of course i remembered your birthday" he chuckles and plants a kiss on the top of your head. "how could i not? out of the 365 days in the year this is my favorite one." • even though you didn't remind him, he knew it was your birthday. i guess he just has his ways as a guy who's pretty savvy at a lot of things ;-) • "you should open up the present i got you babe. i need to see your pretty face light up with excitement" • inside the intricately wrapped box he hands to you there's a scrapbook. inside there are love notes and memorable photos of the two of you that were clearly well thought out. it must've taken him a while! • "wait.. wait.. that's not all, you think i wouldn't spoil you a little on your big day? c'mon baby, i know you know me better than that." he gives you a little wink as he hands you a small gift bag with crinkled paper sticking out at the top • you're pretty overwhelmed with emotion at this point, as the amount of effort that he's put into this is not really what you're used to. he reaches his arm around you to hold you while you dig into the bag. • "i've thought of you every time i've traveled this past year. when i visit new places, i try to find souvenirs that you'd like. so... what do you think?" • you hold up a necklace, bracelet, and a keychain that contain references to an island that he's visited recently • "i hope you love it, you know i just wanna make you happy. i love you. now, where do you wanna go for dinner? i'll take you anywhere, it's my treat." he puts one of his hands on your cheek, his expression soft as he leans his head in to give you a gentle kiss Shuichi Saihara:
Tumblr media
• you get a call from your boyfriend shuichi. you pick up the phone and he answers with, "hey y/n, i wanted to take you out today... can we meet in like, an hour? if that's okay with you, of course..." he sounds a little nervous on the phone. "i got it all covered, just stand outside and i'll swing by to take you on an adventure." • at first you think to yourself, "well, shuichi didn't mention my birthday... does he know it's today? or are we just going on a date?" • once you get ready for the day out, your boyfriend waits outside for you just as planned. his entire face lights up when he sees you and he's blushing so hard you can see it through the tinted window of his car 😭 • "oh wow, uhm... you're so ... attractive..." he's stumbling on his words and is struggling to maintain eye contact with you as you get in the passenger side of his car. it's just the two of you and you put some songs on the aux as he drives you • "your outfit," he can barely focus on much else but you. "i... love it. you look super nice..." he gives a light laugh and puts a hand on your leg • when you ask him where you two are going, to which he replies, "oh, you'll see, it's a surprise!" • after driving for a little, you see that he's taken you to an aquarium. it's a really scenic area and you're excited to go on a romantic excursion with your boyfriend
• "wait, um, before we go in, can i show you something? it's actually in my trunk." he opens up the back of his car and it's literally full of gifts. like. you're shocked at the pure volume of gifts he's brought you. • "surprise, love..! happy birthday... i'm sorry if it looked like i forgot, i promise i'd never ever. i stayed up all night wrapping these and making sure i could get things just right..." • you practically yourself into his arms, and he holds you close against his chest. "now, let's go have a good day. you deserve it after all" Kaede Akamatsu:
Tumblr media
• you wake up on the morning of your birthday with approximately 50 message pings on your phone. they're all text messages from your girlfriend kaede- • one of the first things you read is "i'm so so sorry if i woke you up, but i needed to let you know that i'm thinking about you on this very special day... happy birthday my angel!" • the rest are all long, extensive messages about how much she loves and appreciates you, and how she's going to make this day memorable for you
• after getting ready for the day, she knocks on your door to come visit. she won't stop reminding you it's your birthday, making sure you feel the love you deserve • it's clear that she's been planning out what she wants to do to surprise you for literal months now • she planned a surprise party at her place that she's about to take you to, one with all your mutual friends that she's planned the events, catering, and activities for • "don't worry hon... i'm sure you'll love what's to come." she gives you a swift wink and kisses your cheek. • when you two arrive at kaede's place, you get surprised by all of your friends and a well decorated living room, kitchen, and hallway • "surprise! i thought i'd plan this out for you so i could make your day extra special... i love you so much, y/n. please never forget how much you mean to me, and to everyone else." • the rest of the day, kaede showers you with a ton of physical affection and makes sure everything goes according to plan. she even baked the cake from scratch and made sure to decorate it in a personable way for you :') • "okay look... i know the cake doesn't look professionally made but it's made with love" she laughs and she gives you a warm hug. the cake is actually really tasty, despite the slightly lopsided look <3

Could you do the Danganronpa V3 Boys being a passenger Driver for the Girlfriend father who doing a driving test and this like this video
https://youtu.be/WWwiKjCli94
This is an interesting prompt, I've never written for something like this before.
I can do my best!
----------
V3 Boys as Passengers of S/O's Dad
Shuichi Saihara
When you first started dating, Shuichi was still really self-conscious about himself, and was worried about his impression on your Dad. So when he asked him to help with his driving test, Shuichi thought it would be a great way to bond. Thank god he wasn't wearing his hat this time, cause it would be gone by now. I'm talking it would have flow into the Atlantic ocean by now. Your Dad was absolutely insane behind the wheel, and Shuichi didn't need to be the Ultimate Detective to know that. He desperately grabbed onto the seat to stop himself from flying away. The majority of the time he was silent, but at the last hurdle a giant scream rung out Despite feeling like the world was spinning, Shuichi actually made a good impression on your Dad! He was super thankful and appreciated Shuichi's help. With a shakey hand, he gave a thumbs up, dreading having to do this ever again
Gonta Gokuhara
Car? What's a car? Gonta has never even been in a car his entire life, even when he went to school. He always just walked everywhere, that's what he was used to. So when your Dad asked him to join him on a driving test Gonta was happy to assist! He really wanted to make a good impression on your father, and wanted to prove he was worthy to be your boyfriend. Oh dear god get him off this thing- For a first experience in a car, this was NOT ideal. Your Dad was infamously known in your family to be an erratic driver, and Gonta had never even been on a roller coaster before. His heart nearly jumped out of his chest as he gripped on anything he could grab onto. So many screams almost escaped his throat but he was trying soooo hard to not be rude! Gonta is a gentleman, he can handle this! Yeah, at the end when your Dad thanked him, he gave a weak smile and nod, legs shaking. When he offered to drive Gonta home, he QUICKLY declined and said he'd walk! For the next few months just the sight of a vehicle made him break out into a cold sweat
K1-B0
Hm, riding in a car, huh? Kiibo never really had to ride any vehicle or public transporation before, so this was a new experience. He had a minor moral crisis (a robot in a non-conscious vehicle? Is that appropriate, does he need to ask it's permission?). With your Dad's reassurance, Kiibo was able to shake it off and join him! If he had a heart, it would have lept out of his mouth at this point. The constant road bumps and sharp turns threw his systems out of wack. It felt like his eyes were spinning in their sockets. He kept trying to give feedback and tips, but every movement quickly shut him up in fear. He managed to be quiet at the beginning, but near the end he couldn't hold in the screams anymore At the end of the drive, Kiibo managed to realign himself and give some good feedback. He made sure to make notes on the speeds your Dad was going and the angle of his steering. Your Dad nodded his head and took notes, grateful for the input. After he got home, Kiibo pretty much collapsed into your arms (thankfully you didn't fall over from the weight of his metal) and nearly cried. He was pretty sure it was retribution for entering the car without it's consent. Just hold him for a bit, he'll get better
Kaito Momota
Driving lessons? Hell yeah he'll join! Kaito was already good friends with your Dad, so helping him with a driving test was a no brainer. Not to mention he's gonna be an astronaut, he's gotta get used to G-Force. Let's go! Oh lord. Oh lord oh jesus. Kaito is a brave boy... BUT NOT A BRAVE ENOUGH BOY FOR THIS- Sure, he isn't great on roller coasters, but he never expected to experience anything like this in his life. For some reason it was even worse! Probably because one wrong wheel turn and they could be dead. Unlike a lot of the others, he did NOT hold in his screams. Kaito was screeching at the top of his lungs, mouth foaming The moment he stepped out of the car, Kaito collapsed onto the ground. Feeling the sweet sweet earth was comforting. After thanking him, your Dad tried to console him, but Kaito insisted he was fine. He just needed a few moments or else he'd probably throw up. Thank god rocket launches are this bad! ...right?
Kokichi Ouma
Kokichi doesn't really give too much a damn if your Dad likes him. It's a nice bonus and makes it easier during family events. But even if he didn't like him, Kokichi would date you anyways. When your Dad asked him to look over his driving test, Kokichi decided why not? He was bored anyways, might as well do something to pass the time Okay, so he was fine... at first. For the first half he was actually having fun! It was kind of like a roller coaster at an amusement park and it was super exciting. He had his hands up and everything, laughing like crazy. That all came to a sudden halt when they were 1 second away from crashing into a tree, only saved by a sharp turn. Now he was scared. Kokichi realized that this wasn't safe fun anymore, his life was in the hands of an inept man. For the rest of the test, he was crying and screaming in fear After the test his face was covered in tears, and was left sniffling like a child. Your Dad asked if he was okay, but Kokichi did what he does best: lie. Nah, he was totally fine! All that crying was just a joke. That answer satisfied your Dad, but inside Kokichi was still shaking and scared
Korekiyo Shinguji
The thought of a man his age not having a license intrigued him. Most adults earn their license early in their development, usually at age 16. When your Dad asked for Korekiyo's help, he happily agreed. It would be a great way to study and inspect your father, and get a good read on your family's history and behaviors Jesus christ. Korekiyo has never experienced anything like this before. Let's be real, he is a kinky bitch, he's used to getting thrown around. But whiplash is not sexy! His body was as stiff as a board the whole drive, in fear of losing a limb. He's never thrown up in his life, but this is definitely the closest he's gotten. At first it was mildly interesting, even humorous. But at this point Korekiyo's plan to study and inspect was thrown out the damn window. All he could think of was the inevitablity of meeting his dead sister in the afterlife After the drive ended, and his life was spared, he let out a sigh and loosened up again. Your Dad thanked him for the company, and Korekiyo humbly accepted. At the end of the day he realised he didn't learn a damn thing about your father or your family that whole ride. Maybe it should stay that way
Rantaro Amami
When your Dad asked him to help with his driving test, Rantaro happily agreed. He had a good relationship with your father, and felt this would be a great way to get to know eachother. Drive around, chat a bit, have a good time Rantaro is a chill man. Nothing really fazes him, and even if it does he's pretty good at hiding it. This was no different, but fuck it was the hardest situation he's ever encountered. His mouth was tightly shut and his eyes wide open. He tried his hardest to initate a conversation, but every bump made his mouth clamp shut. Even if he got the words out, there was no way your Dad would hear, he was too focused on aceing this test At the end Rantaro put on a good facade of calmness. Your Dad tried to apologize and see if he was okay, but Rantaro brushed it off and assured him he was fine. The day ended on a good note, but Rantaro was sure he'd never drive with your Dad again... at least until he got his license
Ryoma Hoshi
Ryoma was fine with being a passenger. Your Dad was trying to get his license at a higher age, that's admirable. He can't really reach the pedals on a normal car anyways, so Ryoma thought it couldn't hurt to try out a normal sized car for once. Can't be that bad right? This man already knew he was going to be dead soon, he now accepted this car would be his tomb. Death Row was a distant dream, his body will be found in a pile of scrap metal. With every bump they hit, his body would fly up off the seat, only saved by the seatbelt. Ryoma was completely silent the whole time. There was no point in screaming Even when the car stopped, it took a hot minute for Ryoma to even get out. It took your Dad calling his name to break him out of his trance. His voice was calm when accepting your father's appreciation, but inside Ryoma was still ready to shake hands with the devil. He loves you so much, but that day it was tested

Today’s a pleasant Saturday, and after having a good laugh at the "The reviews are in" post, I thought I’d dive into an intersting theory about the possible connection between Gin and Mary :)
Shared Phrases (?) Both Gin and Mary are the only characters to say, “It’s like encountering a demon in the darkness.” Similarly, Tsutomu and Shuichi are the only ones who’ve said, “The fault is 50/50.” I mean.. it's pretty obivious from just here already.
Appearance In terms of appearance, Mary, Sera, Akai, and Gin share two notable features: green eyes and distinct lines under their lower eyelids. Mary also has platinum hair, much like Gin’s.
Mary’s shrinking instead of being killed Mary’s shrinking, rather than being executed by BO, is particularly strange. After all, BO is notorious for ruthless efficiency—why use APTX 4869 instead of simply shooting her? The idea of sparing an enemy with a “golden medicine” that took years of research feels uncharacteristically merciful for BO. Their usual motto of leave no trace” makes this decision seem odd and deliberate.
The boss’s decision to let Mary live seems to be a carefully calculated trap. It’s confirmed that Sherry’s mother and Mary are biological sisters (as the author has stated that Akai and Sherry are cousins). This means Mary and Sherry share familial genes as aunt and niece, making their bodies react similarly to the drug. I believe Gin may have known early on that Sherry was alive and was aware of Kudo's survival as well. Therefore, Gin and the boss know that Mary will survive this drug as well. Gin likely hinted this to the boss and orchestrated events to leave Mary alive. Why? They will use Mary as a bait to retrieve the antidote.
If BO were to capture Sherry, she’d likely refuse to cooperate. If they killed her, they’d lose their only chance at the antidote. Raising Sherry, funding her studies abroad, and investing years in her research suggests how vital she is to the boss’s plans. Killing Kudo would also be out of the question—Sherry’s guilt over Kudo’s predicament is what drives her to work on the antidote. If Kudo were killed, Sherry might even commit suicide, leaving BO without their much needed antiodote.
Mary’s shrinking seems to be a part of the boss’s larger scheme to manipulate Sherry. By targeting Mary, someone closely tied to Sherry and the silver bullet Akai, the boss ensures that all roads lead back to Sherry. This clever and cost-effective strategy leverages Mary’s condition to force Sherry’s hand, ensuring she stays within BO’s reach. In the process, it draws in powerful agencies like the FBI, CIA, and MI6, all of whom may unwittingly aid the boss’s agenda. In the end, the trap wasn’t just for Mary—it was a strategic move to draw out Sherry and secure BO’s ultimate goal: the antidote. This theory further supports the idea that Mary and Gin might be related, potentially as mother and son. Otherwise she wouldn't have been alive until now.
Hello anon! Just so you know this was a delightful surprise to find in my inbox today :3 I think I reread the whole thing like four times before even thinking of doing anything else djsjfsk I love theories so much💥💥💥
(Everything else is under the cut because I ended up yapping too much. I'm so sorry)
I really like this theory, especially since it indirectly covers for the fact that Masumi (partly due to Mary's orders as she's getting more and more impatient) hasn't exactly been subtle in her attempts to get the temporary antidote and has generally been very liberal with the information she has about Conan and Haibara's identities, talking about it in public and even getting overheard (granted, Subaru isn't the issue here, and it's not a guarantee that she's being tailed 24/7 as that would be a bit of a hassle to keep up, but still). One would think that they'd have been found out by now, given that the BO is now fully certain of Masumi's existence and relations (Vermouth on the Mystery Train my beloved & beloathed... Girl why r u so evil) and, as minimal as it is, she does represent a threat, but nothing has happened to either of them yet.
I do think that the point about the BO's decision to use the poison is a little shaky, seeing as it's been explicitly stated to leave no trace on the body— which actually fits pretty well with their motto, and we do glimpse a pretty long list of people it's been used on a few times throughout the manga (we only see a few names, but it's speculated to be much longer than what is shown), so it would seem that the BO has been using it semi-regularly when they wanted more down-low executions.
There was also no guarantee that Mary would react the same way to the APTX even with a possible genetic advantage observed in Shiho (and without knowing exactly what they were looking for, I'm fairly sure trying to compare the two's DNA in order to confirm their theory would be really difficult if not outright impossible in such a short timespan, and that's if you don't consider the absence of the person who knows the most about the APTX in the first place and could have sped things up if she was there). <- sidenote: I feel like I may have misread this point of the theory, so my interpretation and objection could be completely off bc it's not what you were talking about djsnfns
That said, I find the point about ensuring a direct line to Sherry through familial relations very interesting, in the sense that it made me stop and ask myself how she would react upon finding out that she has more living family still, but over half of them are people who she may see as having caused her grief/major discomfort at best. Would her wish to connect to her family be stronger than her self-preservation (along with the fact that she doesn't really know these people and therefore has no emotional attachment to them, not even as abstract idealized family)? I'm genuinely not sure, but the BO banking on this, possibly because having essentially groomed her they know her weaknesses best, is very juicy.
Honestly, thanks to that post (and a few delightful conversations about it), I do think that making Mary and Gin related in some way would be like. Really really funny. It'd also probably piss off a lot of people, but it'd be so funny.
And, given Gosho's magic retconning powers, I have come to the conclusion that Gin being Elena and Mary's brother that nobody ever talks about for some reason would be peak comedy. It even gives the whole "Elena and her husband received an offer they couldn't say no to because it'd let them continue their research" thing a new layer of context if you consider that Gin may have been the one who brought them to the Boss's attention.
This is also brought to you by my superficial genetics liker ass who says "Tsutomu's hair is brown and Mary's is blond. Brown is a dominant gene while blond is recessive, so unless Tsutomu's genotype was heterozygous (which we unfortunately can't know without the rest of his family tree. Also Gosho only seems to care about genetics from time to time) Gin should also have brown hair".
Also it's infinitely funnier if this is all a very complicated example of what Cain's Instinct looks like. Imagine playing the long game for literal decades because you want your siblings dead but it should also wipe out the rest of the family. Insane

Part I
"Are you free Thursday evening?" Akai's facing away from him, getting out of the car in a hurry. Rei's picked him up from his flat this morning (his mustang broke down, apparently), which is how they're both running late now. It's a good thing the meeting can't start without them.
In any case, Rei isn't - things have been busy in the aftermath of the takedown of the organisation, as Akai should be well aware. He did, after all, just return from a three-month vacation to FBI headquarters in Washington. The official cover story, as far as Rei knows, is Okiya going to the US to continue his PhD, while the authorities prepared to reintroduce the reborn Akai Shuichi to the world. Now he's back for good, officially appointed as the FBI's liaison to the PSB.
While he didn't share what he was up to while he was waiting to be processed, Rei has a pretty good guess - the higher-ups have been expecting all sorts of reports from him, after all, and surely Akai is just as vital a source, involved as they both were. The thought of him doing paperwork is amusing, and strangely domestic in its mundanity. (He'd love to see it.)
So, he'll figure something out. Several people owe him favours, and he has five years of vacation to catch up on. This is the first time Akai is reaching out for a meeting outside of work (not that Rei kept track or anything), and he's not about to let that chance slip through his fingers.
"I'll make it work. What for?" Agreeing without even knowing what he agreed to, he really is pathetic. And yet. He trusts the other won't waste his time or ask for the impossible.
"Dinner at the Myosotis. Seven p.m."
Rei blinks. That rings a bell. Western style fine dining, prohibitively expensive. Waiting lists of half a year, at least. Back then, they were just barely collaborating, surely Akai didn't plan this far ahead? How, then, did he get a table, and why is he inviting Rei to go there? That's the kind of place people go to for romantic marriage proposals; not the sort of restaurant the two of them would frequent, if they do eat out.
"I've already said yes, but... that's quite high-class, isn't it?" Not that he minds - being Bourbon taught him how to frequent places like that. It's just that Akai has never given any sort of indication he might like that kind of place. Huh.
(And really, if he's being honest, any place would be fine as long as it's with Akai. They have a couple of months to catch up on, after all.)
The smile Akai gives him in response is...odd. Small and genuine, private in the way that he's only ever seen Shuichi look at a select few people. Akemi. His siblings. Shinichi. But it doesn't reach his eyes, this time; instead, they're narrowed, burning with something like dread. Rei can't quite make sense of the expression.
"I think the occasion warrants it", is all Akai says before he slams the car door shut, turning his back to Rei. And that's the end of that conversation.
Alright then. Weird.
.
After that, Rei can't shake the feeling that Akai avoids him outside of work. Takes his smoke breaks alone, leaves immediately after they're done.
In situations like these Rei wishes he could talk to Hiro. It's a best friend's duty to help figure out if he's making something out of nothing, right? Maybe Akai really is just busy. And maybe he truly is in the mood for a celebratory dinner; after all, they haven't really had time to spend together since they came out of hiding, ripped apart by work and duty. They've talked, of course, but now that he's back it seems like the circumstances have calmed down enough to consider such a thing. (Even though a nagging thought tells him the official celebratory gala will be held in a couple of months, marking the half-year anniversary of the operation, and he knows Akai isn't looking forward to it.)
The thing is, that doesn't warrant it the look Akai gave him. That look was charged, it meant something. Through the years, Akai has looked at him a great many different ways. Rye mostly cold and disinterested at first, then with that faintly concealed amusement that still drives him up the walls. Okiya usually observed him with curiosity and caution. And Akai? A variety of expressions. Laughter and pain and gratitude. That bone-deep weariness that seems to cling to him like his shadow. Just once, with surprise. But rarely, if ever, as scared as he'd looked when he'd asked him out.
What was he afraid of? It's not like Rei was going to decline dinner, even if he's a little insulted it's western food. (Then again, he's quite proud of his prowess regarding traditional Japanese cuisine, so really, that would've been a worse choice.) Akai might just crave nostalgic food.
This is the third time this week he's reached this point in the argument with himself, and it really doesn't feel like he's getting any closer to the truth.
In the years he's known him, Akai has never shown to be the type to celebrate. Not that the organisation left much room to celebrate. As Okiya, Rei never got close enough to figure out his preferences. And as for Akai...well, he seemed happy enough, if exhausted, coming back from his sister's birthday party, and that's really the only indication Rei has. Maybe he doesn't know Akai as well as he thought. The idea stings.
Still, it makes no sense. If he wanted to celebrate, the takedown was a team effort, and Rei knows agents Starling and Black are in the country. He's checked their schedules, but neither they nor Kazami are free next week, at that certain hour. (Alright, well, in Kazami's case it might be Rei's fault he's busy, but he needs someone capable to cover for him.)
The Kudos, arguably the masterminds behind the operation, have left for a vacation to the Swiss alps, too. Allegedly, they've taken Shinichi with them to recover in mountain air - privately, Rei has heard through the grapevine that talking things out with Ran didn't go so well. She's asked for some time to think about their relationship, so Shinichi is off bringing crime to Swiss ski resorts for a change.
None of the usual suspects are free, or invited. It seems it's really just the two of them.
He doesn't want to, can't afford to indulge the foolish hope that Akai might've missed him as much as Rei did (his dry wit, his dependability, the scent of his cigarettes and aftershave in their sheets). They say absence makes the heart grow fonder, but is it enough for such a shift to occur with Akai?
Their work did keep them too busy to do anything but exchange short texts or calls every once in a while. That little had been a must, for Rei; while officially the organisation might be gone, some stragglers have yet to be found. Thus, he's been checking up on Akai, just to make sure he's still alright out there. (He wants to touch him and hold him and hear his heartbeat, wants to make sure he's alive. Wants too many things he can't have, as usual.)
Rei has promised himself he'll never act on these feelings; can't destroy this careful balance they have managed to attain. But if Akai's the one reaching out, who is Rei to decline? If after all they've gone through Akai still wants to stay by his side, Rei doesn't have the strength to push him away for his own good.
Throughout their relationship, it's always been Rei asking to meet him to exchange sweaters and information. For Akai to take this step now, and in such a grandiose manner, leaves him reeling, uncertain of the other's intentions. Among the living, he's probably the one who knows the sniper best, and yet he just can't figure out what this means. The uncertainty is maddening.
Damnit, really, what is he supposed to think about Akai inviting him to a high-class dinner? Just the two of them?
.
Hiro hasn't contacted him either, since that time in the Kudo mansion. He'd assured Rei he was safe, doing alright. Sorry for not being able to meet. And that was that.
(In a moment of weakness, Rei's asked Akai for his number. But Akai had revealed he'd only gotten the contact info for a burner phone, worthless after that one use.)
He's missed Hiro before, when he wasn't sure whether he was alive or dead, but somehow, knowing he is out there and not being able to reach him is worse. Hiro was supposed to have his back, and now he can't even help him out with his uncertain thoughts and feelings regarding one Akai Shuichi. Traitor.
.
Rei's fretting for hours about his look for dinner. (When was he last out on a date that actually mattered?)
It's not like he's lacking in confidence. He knows he cleans up nicely, and working with Vermouth for years has left him fashion-conscious. He's perfectly aware of how to dress up appropriately for a venue like the Myosotis. Honestly, he's more concerned (and quite frankly, intrigued) how Akai will fare.
Still, he wonders if the red tie is perhaps a bit too much. He's added it on a whim, for a splash of colour, but now he's considering whether it's too bold, wearing Akai's namesake openly. He's probably overthinking it. It's not like Akai to pick up on such clues.
He's triple-checked, by this point, his nails and hair and teeth. His suit is crisply ironed. It's perfect. What could possibly go wrong?
.
Rei finds himself at the restaurant a quarter hour early. A waiter shows him to the lovely window seats Akai has reserved for them, looking out over the city's lights. It's beautiful. The place is pleasantly quiet, a separée creating an ambience of privacy. Bathing the space in warm light is a cream candle, placed on a perfectly ironed tablecloth. After a couple of moments, the waiter returns with a bottle of quality champagne, chilled for their convenience.
Myosotis couldn't be more stereotypically romantic if it tried, and Rei finds his face burning as hot as the flame in front of him. It's a good thing he's a little early; he'll need time to steady himself to face Akai. Maybe have a glass of cool champagne to calm his nerves.
Rei runs one last check, refreshes his cologne on neck and wrist, and waits.
.
A couple minutes go by, during which he tries several different grounding techniques, to limited effect. He still perks up when, from the corner of his eyes, he spots Okiya's pastel pink hair - though it is in confusion, the excitement dying down quickly, replaced with fury. The posture of the man is incredibly familiar.
Conscious of where they are, and what is appropriate, Rei gets up from their table to greet him.
"You've kept me waiting long enough."
And with the brightest possible smile he can muster, he slaps his best friend across the face, hard.
.
"Yeah, I guess I deserve that." At least it's his own voice. Hiro's awkward smile looks off on Okiya's pretty face, and Rei has to fight the urge to throw his arms around his neck. Whether to hug him or strangle him, he doesn't quite know, himself.
"You..." 'deserve much worse than that. Deserve much better than that. Are an asshole and an idiot and it's so good to see you-'
People are noticing the commotion. Bourbon's reflexes kick in, uncomfortable with the attention. He finds himself closing the distance and hissing at Hiro.
"Take a seat before we cause even more of a scene."
Hiro-as-Okiya follows him into the separée. A waiter comes by, pouring him a glass of champagne too. The mood is as frosty as their drinks.
Hiro makes no move to continue the conversation. Great.
"...would you care to explain", Rei asks through his best Amuro smile, "what exactly you are doing here?" He considers adding 'and why you are dressed as Akai's ridiculous cover', but figures that one's self-evident.
"I wanted to see you, so Akai helped me out. The paperwork is taking its sweet time." He says it nonchalantly, as if it is that simple. As if he hasn't been MIA for half a year, and presumed KIA for years before that.
He's willing to bet this meeting was Akai's bright idea. Rei's all too familiar with his idea of 'help'. Doing what he thinks is best in the shadows, without talking to the person he's allegedly helping out.
It sucks, because he knows the FBI agent meant well. He probably thought this was a pleasant surprise. (And it is, just a little.)
It just very much does not help that Rei had quite different expectations of how this evening would go. He was expecting something much nicer than spontaneously having to decide whether he should make use of Hiro's shellfish allergy and poison him right then and there. (The answer is no, will always be no, who is he even kidding.)
Hiro's blue eyes stare at him from across the table, illuminated in warm candlelight. They clash horribly with the pink hair. It makes Rei nauseous. He looks down at the table.
He manages a strangled "I would have appreciated a heads-up." For this situation in particular and the fact that Hiro's alive, in general.
"Did he not tell you?"
"No. And it's not like I expected anything of the sort from him." 'You, however, should have known better.'
"Look, Zero-" Rei's withering glare makes him falter for a second, but he presses on. "I couldn't let you know. It was too dangerous at the time, for myself and Rye. And you."
Oh, great. Another person looking out for his supposed well-being. Except, it really only was about the success of their mission, wasn't it? As if that was ever worth his best friend's life.
He clenches his fist under the table, tries to calm himself. Fails. "I get that. I really, truly do." He rises, slams his hands on the table, leans across. Stares at the farce that is Okiya, just a lie this time.
"But it's been three years, Hiro." Then, quietly: "I thought you were dead."
Countless nights spent visiting morgues, checking if all bodies matching Hiro's stature were accounted for. Checking international flights. Investigating the ruins of the exploded building, in hopes of finding evidence of tampering. Looking over the remains of the body, burnt and crushed, with only the totality of the destruction hinting at foul play. Years and years of hounding Akai, trying to get answers from the one person who had to know, only to not make it in time. That terrible night Gin had sent him a gift, Akai falling lifelessly back into the video's frame, joining Scotch in a violent end; his last lead going up in flames and smoke. Mourning Matsuda and Date, alone.
He fights down the bile rising in his throat with practiced ease. His eyes sting and burn, but he won't be embarrassed now by giving in.
To his credit, Hiro has backed off as far as he can, shrinking under Rei's glare. Familiar blue eyes lock with his, and Rei needs to focus on them because everything else about the Okiya getup gives him whiplash he doesn't know how to deal with. Hiro takes a breath, steadies himself.
"Zero." A warm hand is gently laid atop his own. So familiar, so comforting, even after years apart. Rei wants to run, or fight, or both, but finds himself anchored in place.
"I'm sorry. I've said it before, and I'll say it again, as many times as you need me to."
As if any number of apologies could erase years and years of grief and guilt and loneliness. If he'd just been faster, if Hiro had just trusted him, they would've found a solution, it was never worth his life-
"...why didn't you come to me, Hiro?" Idiot.
Because after months and years to contemplate it, that's the root of the problem, isn't it? The start of the betrayal. The broken promise from their academy days, splintering even further. 'We can handle anything, as long as we're together.' And then fate had ripped them apart, one by one, counting down to zero. Except Hiro had had a choice.
"I'm sorry. I did what I thought was necessary." He wears his emotions on his face.
And for a split-second, Rei doesn't see Hiro. He sees Akai, a week ago; his small smile, his pained eyes. Denial and self-sacrifice. Just what in the world made Akai look at him like that?
It's disorienting enough that he finds his spiralling thoughts interrupted, blinking at Hiro. He backs off, sits back down.
"Promise me, now, that you'll never run off like that again." Please, he can't say, but tries to convey through squeezing Hiro's hand just slightly too hard, before he pulls back in time for the waiter coming in with their entrées.
"I'll try."
Rei glares at him. Not good enough.
"Okay, okay, I won't." Hiro laughs, and oh, how Rei has missed the sound. Some of the tension bleeds out of him, and he finds himself joining his best friend, helplessly.
This isn't over, the pain isn't gone. It's unlikely it ever will, and there surely will be more arguments in the future (and sparring. He really wants to knock some more sense into Hiro). The trust they're missing will be hard to rebuild.
But Rei has had no choice but to live without Hiro for three years now. Has missed him painfully, every single day. If he's going to live in pain either way, might as well have it caused by Hiro's continued presence by his side.
If he gets a second chance at life then Hiro deserves one, too.
...................................................................................
Part II
Dinner after that is slow, but pleasant.
Akai has apparently pre-ordered roasts that need several days to be prepared for them, and while the quality is good, the style of food just isn't Rei's favourite. Hiro seems pretty delighted by it though, so that's something at least.
They leave charged topics carefully untouched. Since Hiro isn't on active duty, Rei can't really talk about his PSB work, and Hiro isn't at liberty to talk about his cover either. So small talk it is. Rei shows Hiro pictures of Haro, and he's immediately taken (as he should).
By the time they've made it past the main dish, they're running out of idle chitchat. Hiro's bracing himself, seems to be working up the courage to ask something. Rei can already tell he won't like the upcoming conversation.
"So, Zero." He folds his hands together, and leans on the table, looking inquisitively. "Do you mind explaining what's going on between you and Akai?"
"Nothing." The answer comes too quick and too pressed, he's not fooling anyone. And that's without accounting for the fact that Hiro knows him too well, even after three years apart. He smiles, faintly.
"Of course. Nice cologne, by the way. I'm sure Hagiwara would approve of the selection." He taps the fingers of the hand he's wrapped around Rei's wrist earlier on the wooden table. Rei feels embarrassment well up. Hiro, as usual, is annoyingly perceptive. Still, cologne is not too out of the ordinary. He tries to cover his choice up with professionalism, and even almost believes himself.
"Yes. It's only proper for an establishment such as this one."
"Yes, yes." Hiro concedes, too easily. His eyes narrow, aiming for the kill. "And I guess red just happens to be your new favourite colour?" The crimson tie around his neck feels too much like a noose, suddenly, restricting his airflow. It's probably the damn candle's fault too, burning all their oxygen. He flushes, despite his best efforts.
"Not my favourite, but it felt appropriate for a celebration", he gets out. It really doesn't help that Hiro is wearing Akai's second skin, the one he's too comfortable seeing. Though the eyes are different, he has trouble shaking the reminder of certain evenings in the Kudo manor. Drinking their sorrows away, just the two of them.
"And you were going to celebrate with a romantic candlelight dinner?" Hiro's arched eyebrow could reach space.
"Trust me, that is as strange to me as it must be to you."
"Oh no, it isn't - I've seen the look he gets when you text him."
And Rei hates himself, hates his traitorous body that perks up at those words, hates the burning curiosity. Wants Hiro to explain, wants it to be true. Hates that Hiro knows how to play him, still, judging by that infuriatingly kind smile. Hiro is so lucky they're in public. He'd very much like to wipe it from his face.
Rei wonders, briefly, if that's why Akai selected the location, and didn't tell him the truth - if he'd asked, Rei's not sure he would have agreed to meet Hiro, the betrayal still too painful in his mind. Not that this kind of secrecy is appreciated. He really thought they were past that, by now. He'll need to deal with Akai, properly, later.
"Do I look like I care about what the FBI idiot is up to?"
He knows a tactical misstep when he sees it, and he's walked right into this one.
"To be quite honest with you: yes." Hiro hides his smile behind his glass of champagne. Badly. His eyes shine with amusement.
Damnit. What's the point of pretending when Hiro just sees right through him anyways? Rei's so tired of fighting himself at every step.
"Alright, fine. Make yourself useful, then. What did he look like?"
"He lit up like his phone's screen whenever a new text arrived." That, at least, is soothing. There had been quite a few texts. He'd assumed, after all, that he was keeping a bored and lonely Akai company. Just how long has Hiro been with him? Did Akai just ignored his best friend during their flight in favour of chatting with Rei? Asshole.
"If I dare say so, it was quite cute."
Rei doesn't bother to dignify that with a response. His burning cheeks probably provide more of an answer than he would like to give, anyways.
"Alright, I won't push you if you don't want to talk about it. Just know that I'll have an open ear for you, if you change your mind." He slips a card with a handwritten phone number in it. It's not much, but it's better than nothing. Rei memorizes it, then burns the paper.
"By the way." Hiro seems a little concerned, fiddling with his glass. "Akai gave me a couple of odd looks while we were flying back. Any idea what that's about? He went out of his way to sneak me into the country, and we had some good talks, so I struggle to see why he's upset with me?"
At this point, the waiter brings in their dessert.
A medium-sized chocolate cake, heart-shaped. A fork is delicately placed on either side.
Hiro shrugs in response to his questioning look. Amuro's customer service smile slips on easily enough. "I'm sorry? I think you've mistaken the dessert for this table."
"Ah, no, gentlemen. All dishes have been prepared according to the requests of the person making the reservation." How odd.
They thank the waiter, wait until he's out of earshot.
Disjointed information is snapping into place.
"Hiro, you've seen more of him recently. Please tell me this is Akai's idea of a joke."
Because the man has a keen sense of humour, even if it's often only for his own amusement. Gods know as Bourbon Rei wanted to strangle him for his quiet mockery.
But surely he can't be implying what Rei thinks he's implying.
"Hm." Hiro pauses for a minute, bless him, actually contemplating the issue while taking an appreciative bite from the chocolate cake. Which they will not be sharing, like that. Rei cuts it in half with his fork, dragging one half towards his side of the plate.
"I don't think so, no. It's hard to tell with him." 'No, it's not', Rei wants to say, 'you can tell by the barely visible laughter lines around his eyes.' He wisely keeps his mouth shut. It wouldn't help his case about how little is going on between him and Akai.
"But I'm inclined to say he was painfully sincere. It was his idea to arrange this dinner, and before he dropped me off, he wished me good luck. I assumed, at the time, that he was concerned about me walking back out alive without my head bitten off. Now, I think he might have somehow gotten the wrong idea about us."
Rei shoves a piece of chocolate cake into his mouth. The icing melts pleasantly on his tongue.
Akai set him up on a date with his best friend.
The FBI agent can be so smart when he needs to. How is he so hopeless whenever interpersonal relationships are involved?
"Idiot."
That's going to be a fun talk.

And finally, Killing Harmony appearance/gender /sexuality headcanons
Kaede Akamatsu - (She/Her Bi, female pref) Chubby and has stretch marks on her hips and stomach. Round baby face, and wears cute pink lipgloss. She also has a little nose ring.
Rantaro Amami - (He/They, pan) He’s a bit chubby (wow, my bias is showing) and has kind of thick thighs compared to most amab people. Wavy hair a bit longer than canon that he sometimes puts in a baby ponytail. Pierced nostril and tongue.
Kirumi Tojo - (She/Her, grey asexual, pan?) Midsized and kind of pear shaped with slightly muscular arms and long legs. Long, elegant hands and clear skin. Oblong face, longer pointy nose. Can’t tan to save her life. Occasionally wears black lipstick.
Ryoma Hoshi - (He/Him, aroace) Can we just knock it off with the random cartoony designs that don’t fit the rest of the aesthetic? He is still short and chubby, but in a humanoid way. Curly light brown hair and bushy eyebrows. Round face with freckles. Some scars on his knuckles from his prison days.
Angie Yonaga - (She/Her, Pan) Pretty average build. Soft tum and smallish boobs. Thick wavy hair that can get pretty gnarly and usually has some acrylic paint stuck in it. Also wipes her paintbrushes on her bare legs when she’s feeling lazy. Gold nose hoops and medusa piercing. Wears brown tinted lipgloss.
Tenko Chabashira - (She/Her, Lesbian) Athletic with lean muscle and somewhat broad shoulders. Tapes her knuckles for training sometimes and has short stubby hands. Doesn’t shave. Canine teeth that somewhat turn inward and look like fangs.
Korekiyo Shinguuji - (They/Them, pan) Tall and gangly skinny in an unhealthy way. No real muscle definition and shitty posture. Oblong face with a larger nose and somewhat crooked teeth (not that anyone could see that) Long bony hands that are always ice cold. Deathly pale and wears eyeliner and mascara. Wears reading glasses. Stretched ears.
Gonta Gokuhara - (He/Him, pan) Hella buff, but not necessarily chiseled. Still soft in some places (gives excellent hugs). His glasses are probably taped on the side due to his clumsiness. Tangled hair that absolutely cannot be tamed and a few accidental freeform locs in the mix. Sizable front tooth gap and full lips.
Miu Iruma - (She/Her horny pan) Plus sized with an extra fluffy hourglass figure. Stretch marks on her chest and hips. Clothes almost always stained with motor oil and sut. Dark brown roots that are a bit overgrown. Freckles and a round face with thick lips. Always wears lipgloss. Keeps a tube in her bra and pulls it without shame. Monroe and tongue piercings.
Kokichi Ouma - (He/Him, gay) A scrawny little pipsqueak. Has braces and sometimes spits when he talks. Ridiculously tiny hands and feet, has to wear children’s shoes. Absolutely cannot tan. Will sometimes wear makeup like a harlequin clown. Cartilage and nostril piercings.
Kaito Momota - (He/Him, bi female pref) Stocky build with muscular arms and broad shoulders, kind of linebacker-esque. I hate the way his hair is designed, but I feel like it would be kind of a straight wolf cut if he let it down. Will sometimes have a man bun. Hairy arms and ham hands. Pierced ears and eyebrow.
Maki Harukawa - (She/Her grey ace, female pref) Athletic build. Flat chested and barely defined waist. Heart-shaped face and widows peak hairline. Scars on her arms. Just really soft facial features that she kind of hates. Hates shaving her legs.
Shuichi Saihara - (He/They, FtM, bi male pref) A little bit pudgy and has thicker thighs. Binds, but is naturally fairly small chested. Wears eyeliner, and has long, thick eyelashes even without mascara. Pin straight hair. Round face and soft lips. Dark circles under his eyes. Has septum and industrial piercings and small stretched ears.
Himiko Yumeno - (She/Her, asexual, sapphic) She looks like she’s in middle school and is a bit chubby. Has perpetually rosy cheeks and crooked teeth in an endearing way. Very fine hair.
Tsumugi Shirogane- (She/Her, asexual) Midsized with pretty even weight distribution. Wavy, thick hair. Somewhat large forehead. Honestly I don’t have much to add to her canon design.
Kiibo - (They/He, aroace, no concept of gender) He is a robot. His “skin” is made of silicone and he has humanlike glass eyes. His hair is nylon and pokes into his little head like a doll. His design is extremely detailed with him even having eyelashes and enamel teeth. Has an internal heater to make his “skin” warm, kind of like baymax. And no, he didn’t come with a dick, though Iruma did patent one.

FIBALLY AN ACTIVE BLOG OWNED BY SOMEONE WHO’S ALSO OBSESSED WITH SHUICHI ummm can i request a shuichi x reader fanfic where they share an apartment and reader is sick? also shuichi stays in, calls off work + cancels all plans to take care of them? they worry for shuichi and don’t want him to get sick too but shuichi’s like “i’ll be fine i can’t just leave you here at home” or smth along the lines of that
he makes soup for the reader as well and has to feed it to them (which he is very embarrassed by, blushing like crazy and hands shaking like crazy but still enjoys doing it) ALSOALSO reader ends up falling asleep on his shoulder as they’re cuddling and shuichi goes beet red and starts panicking and worrying about what he’s supposed to do lmao I HOPE THIS ISNT TOO MUCH THIS IS MY FIRST TIME REQUESTING SOMETHING
Tumblr media
—— xoxo = medicine .
Tumblr media
— 𝙨𝙪𝙢𝙢𝙖𝙧𝙮 : you catch a cold and shuichi appoints himself as your caretaker.
— 𝙜𝙚𝙣𝙧𝙚 : fluff
— 𝙘𝙬 : mentions of being sick
— 𝙖𝙪𝙩𝙝𝙤𝙧 𝙣𝙤𝙩𝙚𝙨 : AHHH i love sick fics like these , and of my favorite character too ?? * collapses *
Tumblr media
↳ you’d stayed sniffling in your bed , watching as shuichi made calls to cancel off work and researching on the best treatments to help you recover.
→ once he was finished , he turned to you and smiled softly. “ i told you that you’d get sick if you stayed out in the cold too long , especially since you didn’t bring a jacket out , ” he murmured , “ i guess it’s too late now … ”
→ “ i'll be fine , it’s just a ” — you sneezed into your elbow — “ simple cold! you shouldn’t have to not go to work because of me. ” shuichi looked at you with worry.
→ “ i’d feel too guilty leaving you in the apartment all alone … and i probably wouldn’t get any work done , ” he protested , “ oh , do you need me to get you anything? like … uhm … soup? or something? ”
→ “ soup sounds pretty good … but you don’t need to go through the hassle of making it for me , you k — ” shuichi cut you off by kissing the top of your hand , much like how a prince would greet a princess back in old ages.
→ “ nothing’s much of a hassle if it means it’ll help you feel better … ” he said quickly before going to the kitchen to whip up some homemade soup. he sped off as he registered what he’d just uttered to you , and albeit embarrassed , he still felt that the words were fully true and from his heart.
→ you turn on the tv to focus on something other than replaying his sweet words and actions in your head , making the heat in your body grow tenfold.
→ shuichi came in after around half an hour , holding the liquid in a small bowl. he sat on the edge of the bed , facing you.
→ “ um … do you … do you want me to help you eat? ” shuichi looked away as his face started to grow hotter than how yours was.
→ “ i … i wouldn’t mind. could you? ”
→ you watched shuichi’s hand shake as he brought the spoon up to your mouth , the smell of the soup reminding you how hungry you felt. you sipped as slowly as you could , keeping your eyes partly on the screen to spare him from eye contact.
→ you could feel his eyes watching you , maybe waiting for some commentary about his cooking? you waited till it was all gone before shifting your gaze to him.
→ “ i never knew you were such a good cook before! you should make dinner more often than just ordering take out. ” you smiled as best you could.
→ his face flushed more from the compliment , a pretty mix between pink and light red adorning his skin. “ it’s no problem , really … ”
→ he set the bowl down on the nightstand as you pulled his sleeve , making him lean over onto the bed. “ ah! — (y/n) — ”
→ “ you said you’d do anything to help me recover , right? ” you confirmed with a light and soothing tone of voice.
→ “ … i … suppose i did say that … ” he replied , giving you a little smile at your own , as you sat up to pull him in more. you wrapped your arms around him , switched your positions , and rested your head on his shoulder.
→ he felt warm and inviting , even better than resting on a pillow or anything. you felt his breathing become a little bit shallow as his air intake increased. he snaked his hands around your lower torso , above your waist , and hugged you back.
→ soon enough you fell asleep , your calm breaths sliding into shuichi’s ear like a peaceful lullaby. he sat stiffly , not knowing what to do , especially because he was growing tired himself. could he somehow move you so that you’d both be lying down and in a better sleeping position?
→ he carefully inch by inch — or maybe centimeter by centimeter — lowered you and himself to lie down , you on top of him. he finally then closed his eyes , savoring the calm moment as he dozed off with you.

One could repackage Danganronpa as some lame YA novel and no one would bat an eye. Like, the concept of Danganronpa can work as some YA novel if one thinks about it for a bit. Which is kinda weird. Though one big thing that definitely would change from OG Danganronpa to YA novel insanity is the relationship drama. SO. MUCH. RELATIONSHIP. DRAMA. Like, it'd be something like Main character boy Makoto being in some weird ass love triangle. Or, since some known YA novels like The Hunger Games, Divergent, (does Twilight count???) have pretty girl leads, maybe it'd be something like Kyoko in some weird ass love triangle with the "boy next door, good boy" Makoto and the "rich, wealthy bad boy who serves daily despite treating the waitresses like shit", Byakuya. Rinse and repeat for the other games! Like, for freaking Good-bye Despair, it could be Chiaki in the love triangle with "nice, average guy" Hajime and "the very unwell sick boy" Nagito (can't call him a bad boy in good conscience/hj) while in V3 it's Kaede probably in a love triangle with the "shy boy" Shuichi and the "absolute freaking rat; the twerp of twerps who also has a sad boy bad boy past cus of course he does" Kokichi. ... Gosh. Now this REALLY is morphing into "Just Twilight but Danganronpa" and like, why is that simultaneously cursed AND camp?! Make it make sense even though it does make sense somehow but the fact that it does make some sense makes me more confused and scared! Like, just imagine the vampire baseball scene, color grading and all, with Danganronpa characters.

okay hit me with your impeccable kaede ships opinion
You've got it, boss! Ranking Kaede's ships with all of the V3 students!
Kaede x Shuichi: 10/10; the protags should kiss I think. Their interactions in canon, however brief, are incredibly sweet and carry a ton of weight throughout the entire game. Ya can really tell how much they mattered to each other. I want them to have a happy ending so bad!
Kaede x Rantaro: 6/10; ah yes, the chapter 1 fellas. I never really got any romantic vibes from them personally, but I can see the potential. The bonus nail painting scene is super cute (with Tsumugi tagging along being comedy gold), and I can imagine their adventurous spirits melding well together!
Kaede x Ryoma: 4/10; Ryoma needs a light in his life, and I do think that Kaede would fit that bill. They feel like a different flavor of Saimatsu to me, but I do think her relationship with Shuichi would pan out a lot better in the end. Ryoma seems like the type who needs friends that have his back more than a love interest in my opinion.
Kaede x Kirumi: 8/10; the more I think about this pairing, the more I like it. Just imagine them playing the piano n cello together. May I win you over with the duet scene from Electric Dreams as their dynamic, perhaps?
Kaede x Angie: 3/10: I can see it, but it isn't really for me. I haven't seen much content of them together, but I could be swayed into liking the pairing more if I stumbled upon it more often. Ah well, that's the common tragedy of rare pairs.
Kaede x Tenko: 9/10; I'm a sworn Tenmiko shipper, but I can't deny these two are also really adorable. The duo that will slap the most sense into anyone that crosses them. Tenko soaks up all of Kaede's compliments n flirtations like a sponge, n Tenko will always be around to fiercely protect Kaede.
Kaede x Korekiyo: 1/10; not for me. I could be persuaded to be neutral on it, but for now it just isn't my cup of tea. They just don't have anything going for them that I can positively imagine. Don't get me wrong, I think Kiyo's interesting, but he would just not pair well with Kaede in my eyes.
Kaede x Miu: 6/10; I'm surprised at how much chemistry they have. In Miu's FTEs, Kaede genuinely wants to help her out with her communication issues, which is pretty sweet. If Kaede has the patience to help Miu, that's gotta count for something. Miu being a flustered mess is always a treat.
Kaede x Gonta: 6/10; definitely has potential to be a really cute pair. Given enough time, I think Kaede could come around to appreciating bugs as she spends more time with Gonta. I think she'd love orchid mantises especially.
Kaede x Kokichi: 5/10; never really gave this ship much thought, but it makes sense why people like it. It's standard protag x rival protocol, but with extra silliness. I imagine Kokochi would ask Kaede to compose a 'villain theme' for DICE, but he'd appreciate whatever she comes up with.
Kaede x Kaito: 7/10; the morale boosters! Their combined optimism and enthusiasm is highly contagious. You wouldn't wanna miss their exciting training sessions! Meshing music n astronomy together also just sounds awesome. And Kaede wearing Kaito's jacket is a very cute image I just conjured up.
Kaede x Maki: 10/10; Kaimaki but for lesbians! If Kaede survived longer, I really do think they would've eventually gotten along. I'll be at my happiest with Kaemaki n Saimota happening at the same time methinks.
Kaede x Himiko: 5/10; another ship with some good potential. They'd host the best performances together. They just wanna see everyone happy and I think that's cute.
Kaede x Keebo: 7/10; let Kaede teach Keebo music theory and help him improve his singing! I know she's not a singer herself, but I think her piano skills could assist him practicing matching notes with his voice. I think I'm just really hooked on the idea of Keebo singing Daisy Bell (the first song sung by a computer) with Kaede playing along, the idea makes me melt.
Kaede x Tsumugi: 9/10; may I interest you in some toxic yuri? In a world where Kaede survives to the end, their dynamic would pop tf off I think. Imagine this girl you've been crushing on is actually the mastermind trying to frame you for murder. Ouch. But you bet Tsumugi was also dealing with some feelings for Kaede by basically writing her to be so complimentary towards her. I can see through your lies Tsumugi you can't fool me.

I was wonderingg
if I can request a Makoto, Hajime, and Shuichi (Separately) with a reader that has Mean rest face. It’s something I’d wanna see how they would react like as in meeting for the first time and they are kinda nervous? Because of how mean she looks but in reality is really really nice and sweet!!
Definitely thanks so much for the request this was a blast to write ❤️❤️
Makoto Naegi, Hajime Hinata and Shuichi Saihara X reader who has a resting mean face
SFW, requested, fluff, long headcannon form, gender neutral pronouns, reader is sweet but just doesn’t look like it, killing game setting, U/T = ultimate talent.

Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Mokoto Naegi
•Makoto had just finished his introduction to Byakuya his self worth crushed as he did so, looking around the room he tried to find a more approachable face to talk to not wanting another person to belittle him the way the ultimate affluent progeny did.
•Scanning around the room he caught his eyes on a girl who’s style resembled a gothic somewhat lolita look but before making his was towards her a tap on the shoulder had him spin around to see you.
•Oh god- he thought seeing you face to face, you looked like the last student he wanted to speak to. Cold as ice and eyes that wanted to knock him out cold. He looked down at your shoes not wanting to get on your bad side already, who knows? One misunderstanding glare and you’d be pushing him into lockers and giving wedgies that would haunt him till he was 90. With two ego breaking interactions back to back let alone this whole odd school situation he would do anything to give his “lucky” title back.
•”I saw you introducing yourself to all of us. My name is Y/N the U/T what’s your name?” You said a voice that sounded like a Disney character with a smile to go with it.
•Wow… and here I thought she was gonna throw me against the wall. He chuckled nervously clearing his throat “Oh nice to meet you I’m Makoto Naegi Ultimate uh.. lucky student but looking where we are now I don’t feel too lucky.”
•You softly laughed at his response your presence unlike before now easing him “Yea I think we’re all thinking that. I’ll let you talk to everyone else but don’t be afraid to hit me up if you need anything!” You walked away with a friendly grin in your face although shocking Makoto, you definitely comforted him even if it was just a kind smile.
Hajime Hinata
•Continuing to explore the island Hajime decided to check around the cottages for others bumping into you in the process as he turned the corner. You both dropped to the ground a big thud greeting your ears and a stinging pain on your asses following behind.
•”Shit.” He said picking himself back up. He saw you on the ground still processing what just happened to the two of you. “Sorry about that, here.” He lended a hand wanting you to take it… until you showed your face.
•You looked like you would kill him right here right now for what he did, your brows narrowed down and your eyes swallowing him whole and spitting him out with disgust and hatred. He didn’t know to take his gesture back or to keep his hand venerably out, he prayed that he didn’t accidentally poke a hungry grizzly bear with a stick.
•You took his hand brushing yourself off and returning the gesture with a soft grin. “Don’t apologize you couldn’t have known I was there, I don’t think we’ve met I’m Y/N the U/T I hope your not in too much pain that was a pretty nasty fall.”
•”I- uh…” you looked at him in confusion still intimidating him even if it wasn’t intentional. “No I’m ok, I’m Hajime Hinata I can’t remember my talent at the moment probably will come to me eventually I hope.”
•”Now that’s something. We’ll take it easy you might not remember due to stress these are where we’re sleeping I think, they have our names on it so try to find yours.” You patted his shoulder your touch feeling the opposite of the signals you were sending him with your facial expression.
•”Yea will do thanks.” You two parted ways walking towards the cottages to find where you would be staying. They might have looked like a ferocious grizzly bear but she seemed to have the spirit of Whinnie the Pooh. He said scanning the nameplates on the doors.
Shuichi Saihara
•His investigation started as he scanned and examined every crevice and crack of the building he was trapped in his mind hyper focused on so many questions and outcomes that this place and the mastermind has to offer him.
•He ended up in a computer lab flowers grew where monitor cables should have laid, he pulled out his notepad jotting down his environment. The door swung open causing him to jump a high pitched yell escaping his vocal cords unintentionally. Although the sound of the door was frightening he had no idea what was opening them.
•You looked as if you had two switchblades and a grenade on you ready to pull either one of them out to kill him, you had the eyes of a fox they had a mouth of their own saying how pathetic and wimpy he was to you wanting to take him out of his misery but only because you found fun in catching your prey.
•”Oh I’m so sorry I didn’t mean to scare you! I have a habit of doing that. I’m Y/N the U/T I hope you’re not too upset with me.” You rushed over to him wanting to make sure he was emotionally comforted. I must have been mistaken he thought taking a minute to catch his breath. “I’m ok, I’m a very hyperventilate person it’s an important skill for my talent. I’m Shuichi Saihara the ultimate detective.”
•”Detective? Wow that’s an impressive talent, nice meeting you well after scaring you.” You laughed taking out your hand for him to shake. He did reluctantly but one he felt your hand he felt a bit more at ease with your presence. “I’ll let you get back to work I hope to see you around Shuichi!” You walked out of the computer lab making sure to slowly shut the door on your way out. Shuichi flipped to a new page in his notepad and began writing.
-Y/N the U/T
-Friendly manner approaching people but default facial expression is cold, stern and judgmental
-Has a habit is scaring people without intention
-Has a pleasant laugh
•He flipped back the page continuing his previous task although his curiosity was bugging him about your mannerisms, he stopped himself to examine his question about you. Is it all an act or are they really that scary looking?

Initial D request for reader who has an unrequited love for ryosuke but knows his heart belongs to Kaori (dead or alive in this scenario). You can make it angsty or have a romantic ending or both! Love to see what you create :)
Reader in love with Ryosuke Takahashi who can't move on from Kaori
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I made Ryosuke have feelings for Reader but it's still angsty and he's obviously hung up over Kaori, hope that's okay! I sorta got caught up in dramatics, lol. Anyways, enjoy!
a/n: Can I just say that initial D women are SO beautiful. Every single one of them are so pretty and I looooove Shuichi Shigeno's old style. (fuck MFG, I hate their pit terrier heads 💀)
⋆ ˚。⋆୨୧˚⋆ ˚。⋆୨୧˚⋆ ˚。⋆୨୧˚⋆ ˚。⋆୨୧˚⋆ ˚。⋆୨୧˚⋆ ˚。⋆୨୧˚⋆ ˚。
You stood on the hillside overlooking the town, the cool evening breeze ruffling your hair as you watched the sun sink lower behind the mountains. The view was stunning, but your mind wasn’t on the scenery. Instead, it was on him—Ryosuke Takahashi.
You’d loved him for what felt like forever. From the moment you met, you admired his intelligence, his calm demeanor, his unwavering drive. He was everything you weren’t—sharp, calculating, focused. And yet, despite all that, he seemed to carry a weight with him that never left his eyes, no matter how much time passed.
That weight was her. Kaori.
You’d never met her, but you didn’t need to. Her absence was a constant presence in Ryosuke’s life, and the few times he spoke of her, it was as if he was lost in another world—one you could never reach. She had passed away long before you came into his life, but she still held his heart. It was something you understood, yet it left you hollow all the same.
You often caught yourself watching him from across the room during team meetings, the way he would fall silent, his mind clearly elsewhere. You knew where he was—back in those memories, back with her. And every time, it crushed you a little more, knowing that no matter what you did, no matter how much you cared for him, you could never be her.
It was unspoken, but you had long accepted that your love for him would always be unrequited. Ryosuke had built walls around himself, walls that no one—not even you—could break down. He kept you at arm’s length, close enough to care about, but far enough to never let you in.
The moon hung high in the night sky, casting a soft glow over the empty parking lot where you and Ryosuke sat together, leaning against his FC. It had been one of those quiet, peaceful nights where words weren’t needed—just being near him was enough. You had started to wonder if, maybe, just maybe, Ryosuke was beginning to feel the same way about you. The way his eyes softened when they met yours, the comfortable silence that stretched between you—it all felt like a fragile new beginning.
“I’m really glad you’re here,” Ryosuke said quietly, his voice low and calm as always, but with a hint of something warmer tonight.
You smiled, your heart fluttering at his words. “Me too, Ryosuke. I wouldn’t want to be anywhere else.”
For a moment, you allowed yourself to imagine that this could work, that he could let go of the past and open his heart to you. He had been more vulnerable lately, more present. You could feel the walls between you starting to crumble, and you felt so close to him—closer than ever before.
"The moon is so beautiful tonight, isn't it?"
You held back a gasp at his words, eyes widening with joy as you hoped that this was leading to where you thought it'd be heading.
But then, in the middle of your contentment, his next words shattered everything.
“Kaori…”
Your breath hitched in your throat, and your smile froze as if the world had suddenly stopped spinning.
“What?” you whispered, your voice barely audible.
Ryosuke’s eyes widened in horror the moment the name slipped out, his face paling. “I—no, I’m sorry. I didn’t mean—”
But it was too late. The damage was done. You felt the tears pricking at the corners of your eyes, the pain of his slip-up hitting you like a punch to the gut. All the hope you’d been nurturing crumbled in an instant, replaced by a raw, burning ache.
“It’s fine,” you said quickly, but your voice cracked as you forced the words out. “It’s fine, Ryosuke.”
Before he could say another word, you turned on your heel, your heart pounding as you hurried to your car, desperate to get away before you broke down in front of him. You couldn’t face him—not now. Not after this.
“Wait,” Ryosuke called after you, his voice strained with regret. “I didn’t mean to—”
But you couldn’t hear him. You didn’t want to. You just needed to run.
You slammed the door of your car shut and revved the engine, pulling out of the parking lot with a screech of tires. The moment you hit the mountain pass, your foot pressed down on the accelerator, the speedometer climbing rapidly as you tore through the winding roads.
“Kaori,” you whispered, the name echoing painfully in your mind. “It’s always her.”
Tears blurred your vision, but you didn’t care. You needed to let it out—the frustration, the hurt, the anger. You screamed, slamming your foot down harder on the gas as your car flew through the corners with reckless abandon. The tires squealed as you barely managed to control the turns, the adrenaline pumping through your veins as you pushed the car faster and faster.
He would never see you. He would never love you, not the way you loved him. Kaori’s shadow would always be there, lingering between the two of you, keeping him from moving forward. No matter how much you tried to be there for him, no matter how much you wanted to be enough, you would never be her.
her.
Her.
HER!!
The tears came harder now, and with them, a bitter scream that ripped from your throat, echoing through the empty mountain road.
You were angry—angry at him, angry at yourself for falling for someone who could never fully give himself to you. You knew it, deep down, but you hadn’t wanted to believe it until now. And it hurt.
God, it hurt so much.
Finally, after what felt like an eternity, you pulled over to the side of the road, your hands trembling as you gripped the steering wheel. You sat there, shaking, the sobs coming in waves now, the weight of your heartbreak crashing down on you all at once.
He didn't even go after you.
⋆ ˚。⋆୨୧˚⋆ ˚。⋆୨୧˚⋆ ˚。⋆୨୧˚⋆ ˚。⋆୨୧˚⋆ ˚。⋆୨୧˚⋆ ˚。⋆୨୧˚⋆ ˚。
It was Kyoko who picked up when you called her later that night, your voice barely recognizable through the tears. She didn’t ask questions, didn’t pry. She simply listened as you cried, as you poured your heart out to her, telling her everything that had happened.
“I was so stupid,” you said, your voice raw and broken. “I thought maybe he could love me too. But he called me her name. I’ll never be enough for him, Kyoko. I’ll never be her.”
Kyoko’s voice was soft, steady, and full of sympathy. “You’re not stupid. You’re just in love with someone who hasn’t let go of the past. It’s not your fault.”
You sniffled, wiping at your eyes. “But he’ll never let go, will he? She took his heart with her when she left, and I’ll never have it. I’ll always just be a placeholder, a second choice.”
There was a pause on the other end of the line, and when Kyoko spoke again, her words were careful but firm. “Maybe you’re right. Maybe he’s not ready to let go. And if that’s the case, then you have to ask yourself—do you really want to keep chasing after someone who’s holding on to someone else?”
Her words hit you hard, and you fell silent, the reality of it all sinking in.
“I know it’s not easy,” Kyoko continued, her voice filled with understanding. “I’ve been there. I still have feelings for Keisuke, you know? Even though I knew I couldn’t have him, I still wanted him. But I had to respect his choice. He wanted to focus on racing, and that meant not being with me. It hurt, but… I had to let him go.”
You let out a shaky breath, trying to steady your emotions. “But how do I let go of Ryosuke?”
Kyoko’s voice softened even more. “You deserve someone who gives their all to you. Someone who’s ready to love you with their whole heart, not just a part of it. And Ryosuke… maybe he’ll get there someday. But right now, he’s not. And you can’t keep hurting yourself waiting for him to change.”
A fresh wave of tears welled up in your eyes, but this time they were quieter, less frantic. You knew she was right. As much as it hurt to admit it, Kyoko was right. You couldn’t keep chasing after someone whose heart still belonged to someone else, someone who was already gone.
“I just… I just wanted him to love me,” you whispered, your voice breaking again.
“I know,” Kyoko said softly. “But you can’t make someone love you. And you shouldn’t have to.”
You nodded, even though she couldn’t see you. “I guess I just need to move on, huh?”
Kyoko let out a small, bittersweet laugh. “Easier said than done, right? But yeah, maybe it’s time. And who knows? Maybe one day, Ryosuke will realize what he’s lost. But don’t wait for that day. Live your life for you. Love yourself enough to let go.”
As the conversation came to a close, you felt a strange sense of peace settle over you, even though the pain was still raw. You weren’t over Ryosuke—not yet—but Kyoko’s words had given you something you desperately needed: clarity.
Maybe you couldn’t change Ryosuke’s heart, but you could choose to protect your own.
⋆ ˚。⋆୨୧˚⋆ ˚。⋆୨୧˚⋆ ˚。⋆୨୧˚⋆ ˚。⋆୨୧˚⋆ ˚。⋆୨୧˚⋆ ˚。⋆୨୧˚⋆ ˚。
The air was thick with tension as the usual hum of excitement surrounded the Project D meetup. Keisuke glanced at Ryosuke, who was leaning against his FC with a distant look in his eyes. He hadn’t been himself lately—his focus was scattered, and he seemed completely oblivious to the discussions and strategies being tossed around by the others. It was clear something was bothering him.
“Hey, Ryosuke,” Keisuke called, motioning for his brother to step aside. The others didn’t notice as they continued discussing their upcoming races, their laughter echoing in the air.
Ryosuke followed Keisuke a few paces away, his brow furrowed. “What is it?”
“You’ve been out of it. You’re not even coaching us properly.” Keisuke’s tone was firm, bordering on annoyed. “What’s going on?”
Ryosuke hesitated, the weight of his feelings pressing heavily on his chest. “It’s... it’s complicated,” he finally said, his voice barely above a whisper.
“Complicated how?” Keisuke pressed. “You’re usually so calculated. You’re acting like an idiot right now.”
Ryosuke flinched at his brother’s words, the sting of the truth hitting him hard. He was being reckless, and he knew it. “It’s about… her.”
Keisuke crossed his arms, his expression shifting to concern. “What happened?”
“I messed up,” Ryosuke admitted, running a hand through his hair in frustration. “I accidentally called her Kaori’s name. I didn’t mean to, but it just slipped out, and now she won’t answer my calls or show up to any of the meets.”
Keisuke stared at him, incredulous. “You called her by another woman's name? Are you serious? That’s a rookie mistake, Ryosuke!”
“I know!” Ryosuke snapped, his frustration bubbling to the surface. “I didn’t mean for it to happen! It was just a moment, and now… now she thinks she’ll never be enough for me.”
Keisuke’s expression softened slightly, but he remained stern. “You need to fix this. She’s not just going to come back on her own. You have to show her that you care—really care. Stop moping around and get out there.”
Ryosuke let out a heavy sigh, the gravity of his brother’s words sinking in. “But what if she doesn’t want to see me?”
“Then you’ll have to make her want to. For crying out loud, she probably thinks you don't give a single shit about hurting her with how long you've made her wait! Go after her!” Keisuke urged, his voice filled with urgency.
Ryosuke hesitated for a moment longer before the realization hit him hard. “You’re right. I can’t just sit here.”
Without another word, he turned and bolted toward his FC. He slid into the driver’s seat, heart racing, and immediately started the engine. As he pulled out of the lot, Keisuke watched him go, hoping his brother wouldn’t screw this up again.

The drive felt like a blur, the familiar roads leading him back to the emotions he had tried to bury. He raced through the twists and turns, adrenaline pumping in time with his heart. All he could think about was making things right, showing you that he was more than just a guy clinging to the shadows of his past.
Arriving at your house, he parked hastily and hopped out, his mind racing. He knocked on the door, anxiety twisting in his stomach. When there was no response, he knocked again, louder this time.
You sat in your room, the silence pressing in around you, a heavy cloak of loneliness. You didn’t know how long you could keep avoiding Ryosuke, but each time you thought about seeing him, the memory of that name slipping from his lips burned fresh in your mind. It hurt in a way that felt endless.
When you heard a car pull up outside, your heart raced—not with excitement but with dread. You peered out the window, and your breath hitched when you saw Ryosuke’s FC parked on the curb. The world around you faded as you felt the weight of his presence so close yet so far.
There was a knock on your door, firm yet hesitant. You didn’t answer, feeling tears well up as you hugged your knees to your chest, fighting the urge to break down.
Ryosuke’s voice came softly through the door as he called your name with a desperate plea in his tone. “Please. Can we talk?”
You stayed silent, not knowing what to say. You could hear the tension in his voice, the regret that laced every word, but the hurt still felt too fresh.
“Just… just open the door,” he pleaded, desperation evident. “I know I messed up. I’m so sorry. I shouldn’t have said that name. I didn’t mean to hurt you.”
A lump formed in your throat as you held back the tears. “You did hurt me, Ryosuke. You hurt me a lot.”
The door creaked open, and there he stood, looking more vulnerable than you had ever seen him. The usual calm confidence was gone, replaced by an anxious energy. His eyes searched yours, filled with sincerity and remorse.
“Please let me explain,” he said, stepping forward, but you held up a hand to stop him.
“No,” you said, voice trembling. “You don’t get it. I don’t want to hear excuses. I don’t want to feel like I’m competing with someone who isn’t even here anymore.”
Ryosuke’s expression shifted, pain etched across his features. “You’re not competing. Kaori was part of my past. I’m here now. With you.”
“But every time you look at me, it’s like you’re seeing her,” you admitted, tears spilling over as you struggled to hold it together. “I’m right in front of you, and yet it feels like I’m invisible. It kills me, Ryosuke. I’m so deeply in love with you, and it hurts every time you’re obviously somewhere else, even when you’re right next to me.”
He took a step closer, desperation in his gaze. “I don’t want that. I want you. I’ve tried to move on, but I’ve been stupid. I let my past cloud my feelings for you, and I never wanted to make you feel like you were second best. You’re everything to me.”
Your heart raced at his words, hope and heartbreak warring within you. “Then why did you say her name? Why can’t you let go?”
“I thought I had,” he replied, his voice shaking slightly. “But I was wrong. I let my memories take over, and I hurt you in the process. I’m so sorry. I want to be with you, but I need you to understand that I’m still figuring this out. I don’t want to lose you, and I don’t want you to feel like I’m seeing someone else in your eyes.”
The raw honesty in his words struck you, and for the first time since that night, you felt a glimmer of hope. Maybe this wasn’t the end after all.
“Then show me,” you whispered, your heart aching with uncertainty. “Show me that you want me.”
“I will,” he promised, stepping closer, his hand reaching out to cup your cheek. “I’ll do whatever it takes to prove it to you. I don’t want to lose you to my mistakes.”
The warmth of his touch sent a rush of emotions flooding through you. With a shaky breath, you nodded. “Okay. Just… promise me you won’t ever let your past come between us again.”
“I promise,” he said, his voice firm. “You deserve all of me, and I’m going to give it to you.”
As the tension in the room began to fade, you felt the weight on your chest lift slightly, replaced by the warmth of his presence.
Kaori would always be a part of his past, but you were his future. And as you held onto him, you knew that the love you had dreamed of for so long was finally within reach.

Not Makoto being lost in Shuichi's eyes in the naehara bookclub au and still not realizing he has a crush. I can't even imagine how the book club meetings would go after they both realize they're in love with the other but neither have confessed or realized the other's feelings
(Follow-up to this post)
Oh gosh, imagine Shuichi notices that Makoto has suddenly started acting shy and awkward around him (because Makoto is bad at hiding his feelings) and Shuichi gets excited by it, trying to encourage Makoto to make a move. But he's using the same indirect tactics as before, talking about the book or other couples at school or anything other than the actual real life feelings he has, and Makoto still isn't taking the hint.
So we get a situation where Shuichi is pretty sure they both like each other and wants Makoto to ask him out (since surely it would be disrespectful for the underclassman to be the one to make a move), and Makoto knows he likes Shuichi but assumed surely Shuichi would say something if he returned his feelings, plus wouldn't it be wrong for him to initiate things, since he's an upperclassman? Plus, Shuichi is the Ultimate Detective's Assistant, and one of Makoto's best friends is the Ultimate Detective. What if Makoto asks him out and Shuichi thinks he has to date Makoto to keep things from being weird between him and Kyoko? Shuichi and Kyoko have to work together occasionally, and Makoto has already made things kind of weird between them by accidentally making Shuichi so defensive of him, and...
This goes on for way too long.
Shuichi's like, "I heard Owada and Ishimaru from your class are going to the festival together...as a couple."
"Yeah, they are!" Makoto is relieved that Shuichi has forgiven Mondo for the, uh, police incident. "It's their first time officially going out like that. Everyone's really excited. The whole class has been waiting for them to finally confess their feelings."
"Which one of them did?"
"Taka. A lot of people expected Mondo to do it, but I knew it'd be Taka. He can be honest to a fault, sometimes. Mondo can be blunt and passionate, but he also keeps things bottled up a lot."
"It must be...nerve-wracking, to keep something like that bottled up."
Makoto laughs nervously. "I'll bet."
"Why do you think someone would do that?"
"I don't know. Maybe a fear of rejection? And I know Mondo kind of hates being vulnerable..."
"I'd like to go to the festival, but I don't know who I'd go with."
"I thought you were going with Kaede's group. Isn't Kaede going with a bunch of friends?"
"Uh, y-yeah, but I...I just meant...Never mind."
"What is it? Are you and Kaede not friends anymore?"
"No! No, we are! I was just...I was talking about something else. Never mind. Hey, how did you like this chapter's cliff hanger? I was so annoyed when it ended!"
Makoto follows the change in subject, but he makes a mental note that something might be going on with Shuichi and his friends. Should he ask Kaede about it? Or is that too much...
