Thoughts on Shadow & Bone

The first season dragged on forever. Season two was - rushed. It has all the scenes you'd want, but it doesn't take the time to build the emotional punches.

It feels very as if it didn't think it'd get renewed. Of course, then it turns around and spends the last episode post-climax setting up a season three out of the two duologies.

Watching the Crows save Ravka was fun, but also - half the time they are the coolest kids around, half the time they are just a pack of thieves. Or no, it's the other way around, except they skip the training montage.

The visit to Shu felt - let's go introduce a superpowered OC who won't get involved and will vanish right out of the narrative. And let's eat butterflies. Which makes no sense...

Novyi Zem should have been filmed in another location. The Budapest architecture clashes with the rest of the aesthetic.

Reading Angela Chen's Ace and watching Inej going "I'll have you without your armour" does not mesh well. As in I'm suddenly finding Inej to be a bit of a bitch...

So, yeah, I like season 2 better than season 1, and I'll hold out hope for even more Crows next season - and maybe the showrunners finally hitting the balance in their storytelling.

She was gonna be used for a DND but I just never got around to it.Still I haven’t drawn in a while and I’m genuinely still trying to get better so constructive criticism and help are very suggested.(Oh I forgot to mention her name is Shu Chen)

(Fun-fact: Initially Shu-Chen was meant to say something generic (along the lines of ‘it just fits’), which could lead to misunderstanding. Changed it because it was too generic and Anya went through enough.)

In Ravages Of Time, there's a group called "The Eight Geniuses" who are basically the most intelligent people of the era. The members are, Yuan Fang (Yuan Shao's OC son), Xun Yu, Jia Xu, Guo Jia, Zhou Yu, Pang Tong, Zhuge Liang and a mysterious 8th member. Who do you think the 8th member could be? The only clues are: not Lu Xun, Wei Yan, Deng Ai, Xu Shu, Lu Su and not a soldier/warrior.

There are a lot of possibilities.

Sima Yi seems the most likely. Xun You, Zhong Yao, Hua Xin, Wang Lang, Cheng Yu, Jiang Ji, Liu Ye, Dong Zhao, Cui Yan, Mao Jia, Jia Kui, and plenty of others are also plausible.

Pretty much any of Wu's great minds could be possible, since only Zhou Yu is included. Zhang Zhao, Gu Yong, Zhuge Jin, Bu Xie, Yu Fan, Zhang Hong... Probably not Zhuge Ke, he's noticably younger than theother members.

And of course there's Fa Zheng, Xu Jing, Dong He, Liu Ba, Ma Liang, Ma Su,  etc.

Not to mention potential oddballs like Chen Gong, Chen Deng, Fu Gan, Tian Feng, etc. The possibilities are pretty much limitless.

MicroRNA-30c inhibits metastasis of ovarian cancer by targeting metastasis-associated gene 1

Xia Wang, Li-Wei Qiu, Chen Peng, Shu-Ping Zhong, Lin Ye, Di Wang Journal of Cancer Research and Therapeutics 2017 13(4):676-682 Background: It is important to find reliable molecular markers or biological targets that associate with ovarian cancer (OC) metastasis for diagnosis and treatment. In this study, researchers investigated the regulated chain of microRNA-30c (miR-30c) and metastasis-associated gene 1 (MTA1) in OC tissues and cells. Materials and Methods: Expression of miR-30c and MTA1 was detected with quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction and immunohistochemistry in 33 OC and matched adjacent tissues. MiR-30c mimics were synthetized and transfected into SKOV3 cells to target MTA1. The wound healing and transwell assays were detected to observe migration and invasion of transfected OC cells. Results: Compared with matching normal ovarian tissues, the MTA1 expression was upregulated and localized in the cytoplasm, and the expression of miR-30c was significantly reduced. The expression intensity of MTA1 was correlated with the Federation of Gynecology and Obstetrics stage, tumor grade, and metastasis of OC. Transfecting miR-30c mimics could significantly reduce the expression of MTA1 in SKOV3 cells and obviously inhibit the migration and invasion of SKOV3 cells. Conclusion: MiR-30c and MTA1 abnormally expressed in OC, which may be related to metastasis of OC.
