survivor shuichi is making me INSANE. yes obviously it’s very angsty but i can’t stop thinking about the absolute chaos that would come from having fully-snapped ch6 shuichi from the beginning. the snark...

detective rantaro makes me sad because i can SEE exactly what that would be like. he’s not a real detective, only an apprentice - a real detective would be able to solve a simple missing person’s case, right?

kaito - gonta

entomologist kaito changes almost nothing about him but GOD you know that bug coat would be sick as hell.

astronaut gonta has several different directions it could go in,,,either someone accidentally left him on a space station and he was raised by aliens, or he’s a genius being pushed by his wealthy family to conquer the final frontier. either way his is full of So Many space facts and has no idea why people are terrified when he shares them!! insect meet n greet but he just sits everyone down and forcibly explains how space can boil and freeze your blood at the same time...

kirumi - kaede

pianist kirumi would be interesting bc i think without her maid duties she wouldn’t interact with her classmates much - she’s a very withdrawn person. which is concerning because she’s such a workaholic...pls let one of her classmates notice she’s been at that piano for twelve hours.

maid kaede would be very cute!! she keeps her motivation of wanting to see people smile, she just does it in a more direct way. i do worry that the implied bullying she faced in canon would be much worse if she had a service-based talent, though.....

ryoma - himiko

magician ryoma, hmm...we’ll go for a slightly less tragic backstory than canon and say he stopped performing after his cat assistant was killed.

tennis pro himiko just makes me laugh. she falls asleep on the court and still wins somehow.

maki - kokichi

leader maki didn’t want to be a leader - she smelled trouble at her orphanage and decided to get as many kids as possible out, including her right-hand woman who she is Most Definitely Not Gay For. she’s not in charge, definitely! she’s just the only one with any braincells around here, geez...

assassin kokichi...actually no fuck that. this would not happen. he would 100% find a way to kill himself rather than go along with the cult, that’s what makes maki and him foils - she would rather kill than die, he’d rather die than kill. for the sake of the talentswap, i’ll say that he’s ACTUALLY the shsl child caregiver, and give the assassin talent to pianist kirumi (she deserves some elegant murder i think). he owns a clown-themed daycare where he gives kids the love he never got and he is HAPPY >:(

inventor tsumugi is horrifying because my first thought was “one thousand monokubs” and that was so frightening now i can’t come up with any other concepts.

Byakyuya as the Ultimate Clairvoyant is absolutely hillarious to me, because if this is 1. Hiro's Talent is unchanged 2. He'd be his usual stuck up self,,, cause Byakuya. Which means,,, everyone is like "... Only 30%?"

I've also see. Nurse Toko,, and Hina as just not having one But having her upbeat cheery self.

Obssesed w/ Prince/Princess Hiro 🥺🥺 also implies that Hiroko is a Queen and honestly good for her

As for the blackened and victims, they will remain mostly the same except for a few changes. In this au, im having ryoma be a survivor, which means I have to kill off the ultimate magician. So, while the ultimate entomologist usually dies in the 4th trial, im instead replacing him with the ultimate magician, or kirumi. I also will be making some changes with the third trial, and the ultimate artist, or maki, will be the blackened in this case, with her victims being the ultimate anthropologist, shuichi, and the ultimate aikido master, kaito. As for the rest of the cases, I will be keeping the blackened and victims the same, which does mean the ultimate maid kills the ultimate tennis pro, and so on and so forth.

i finally got my hands on dangan ronpa 3 and it’d feel wrong to play it and not liveblog it at least a little

finished the prologue here’s my opinions of/predictions for the characters

kaede akamatsu - shsl pianist & protagonist? i’m not going to pretend i didn’t scroll past some kind of vague hint that the first character you control is a decoy protagonist back when the game first came out so she’s probably doomed or she’s junko or both

it’s been a long time since i played the first two dangan ronpas, i feel like kaede seems to have more of a personality than ummmm makoto? and um nagisa? nope um i forgot their names but the first two dr protagonists. and her shsl talent is a specific talent unlike theirs which brings me to

rantaro amami - shsl amnesiac and my best guess as to who will be the actual protagonist after kaede. for the sole reason of the unknown (or hidden) talent. i have nothing else to base this on. seemed to have heard of the killing games before they had their memories altered and for that reason he’ll probably be around for a good while

shuichi saihara - shsl detective and hat wearer. what’s under that hat? also didn’t we already have a shsl detective? wasn’t that kyoko’s whole thing? would be my second guess for protagonist if it turns out rantaro isn’t it, and if not maybe the murderboy who kills kaede.

so much of my initial impressions are being coloured by this half-read spoiler that it’s going to turn out that like the protagonist switch was something that happened in like... the demo or something. i mean i did think that if they were doing this that they would have done it by the end of the prologue. ???

this is going to end up just like that one time i saw an au image of hall monitor kid as the mastermind and convinced myself that it was a real spoiler for almost the entire way through dr1.

tsumugi shirogane - shsl cosplayer and almost certainly the new genocide jack. maybe this time the serial killer student will do one of the murders

k1-b0 - shsl robot. looks vaguely familiar. you know now that i think about it dr2 really relied on you remembering the events of dr1 to draw parallels and subvert expectations, so actually retaining some memories of the first two would help me in my guesses/predictions. as far as i remember there was a robot in the second game, which i think was like a parallel to chihiro having a computer version of herself in dr1. probably this guy is just a person in a robot suit?

kokichi oma - shsl supreme leader. the new ummmm what was the mafia kid called again? i think it was something like kiriyo, but anyway this guy isn’t as good as the mafia kid whose name i can’t remember. i got halfway through predicting that his status as a supreme leader of an evil organization meant he’d probably die early and uneventfully before i realized that he might be lying. i’d say maybe his talent was being a liar but we kind of already got that with twogami, but dr does like parallels so maybe? solid pick to last till midgame at least

miu iruma - shsl inventor. cool inventor lady. has cool goggles. definitely going to die because i like her and that’s how dangan ronpa works unfortunately. might be a murderer because they could have an execution with like cool robots or something

himiko yumeno - shsl mage. powerful witch girl. love her she probably dies in the same case as miu. probably dies in ‘a magic trick gone wrong’. i don’t know where you’d go with it from a storytelling perspective but i do hope she has actual real magic.

tenko chabashiru - shsl aikido master. i appreciate dangan ronpa’s dedication to having cool sports girls in its games. this sports girl probably gets murdered early. the only real logic i have for this is that aoi survived to the end, akane as far i remember survived to the end. they’re gonna buck the trend, send us the message that nobody is safe not even the cool sports girl.

maki harukawa - shsl child caregiver. i’m clearly supposed to be suspicious of her. she was acting suspicious. she was the only one to walk away after talking to her in the prologue. she’s a child caregiver and all the monokumas are kids this time. she’ll probably be an important confidante of the main character, entirely blameless and survive the entire game.

unless thats what they want me to think...

ryoma hoshi - shsl tennis bastard. hate him. hope he copies teruteru and does the first murder so i can be done with him asap

korekiyo shinguji - shsl anthropologist and mask wearer. all my instincts say komaeda 2 the sequel to komaeda. he’ll likely be entirely benign and make it to the end like mafia kid in 2 and togami in 1. 

kaito momota - shsl astronaut. will definitely murder someone so they can have an astronaut themed execution. though my memory is telling me they kind of already did an astronaut themed execution? astronaut is such an out there talent for a high schooler to have, we can’t have already had an astronaut right???

kirumi tojo - shsl maid assassin. god i wish i could remember mafia kid’s name and its too late in this post to go looking things up at this point. anyway kirumi has a very clear parallel to mafia kid’s assistant, who oh yeah thats right she prevented his execution and got herself killed doing so... god dangan ronpa 2 was fucking wild. kirumi is so dangerous that she’ll likely be a surprising midgame murder victim. 

gonta gokuhara - shsl entomologist (the bug one not the word one) and raised by wolves. my instinct tells me he’ll do a murder by accident (of mice and men style) or be tricked into doing one by... lets say korekiyo. 

angie yonaga - shsl artist and conduit for atua. hey i love her and hope she survives to the end as like the one quirky character allowed to actually survive the game (psychic boy from dr1 and ummmmm i don’t remember if dr2 has a good parallel). 

also of note the monokubs kind of put me in mind of the kids from ultra despair girls and i am Concerned.

V3 Talentswap Characters!

Uhm- Hi? I really don't know how to start this, but I'm just gonna say this. I made a V3 Talentswap killing game? With a bit of major differences. Like who survives, where the game takes place, and even some character personalities! ^~^ So I just wanted to share some information on this! Perhaps before I make a fan-fiction on it! (I'm not even sure if I might make it...) But well- here!

Kaede- SHSL Robot: Kaede is our happy go lucky robot who tries her best to be helpful! Even if she's not human, she has some small understanding of human feeling. Overall she's positive, and a happy camper!

Shuichi- SHSL Supreme Leader: Ah yes... Our protagonist! (Sorry Kaede :( ) He's mostly quiet and self reserved. HOWEVER- he can be a total asshole like the normal Kokichi. Deceiving people with lies, and maybe having SOME fun here and there. Deep deep down- he's actually very relatable, and your normal average Shuichi!~

Rantaro- SHSL Inventor: He's actually very very chill! At times though he will make some inappropriate innuendos. In hopes that SOME people will understand them.

Kaito- SHSL 'Care Giver' (Assassin): Your generic Rip-Off Gerard Way, or JD. So a big fat emo with a hostile backbite towards everyone. Once you get to know him (which requires lots of trust and coaxing), he's quite a charmer with a smug, and vengeful attitude. (PS- He and Shuichi banter a lot-) (PPS- Kaito low key likes musicals-)

Kokichi- SHSL Entomologist: The purest of pure beans. Kinda like Gonta, he's very sweet, and innocent. ...Or so it seems.

Maki- SHSL Maid: She's extremely loyal, and a basic Mom™! Maki can be a bit scary at times when she's in Mom mode. If her 'children' are causing trouble. The same goes for when she is around her troubling friends. (Aka- Shuichi)

Ryoma- SHSL Astronaut: Ryoma is still Ryoma, but he actually didn't go to prison. (You'll see why!) He's the biggest geek for space, and will do ANYTHING for it!

Kirumi- SHSL Tennis Pro: She's a gold-hearted, and self-deprived person. She went to prison for reasons unknown (she won't say), and she was pulled into the killing game halfway through her sentence. Back in prison, she has a lovely prison wife/friend that Kirumi misses oh so much.

Angie- SHSL ???: Angie is also kinda still Angie in a way. But she is clueless of her talent, and sometimes asks Atua for guidance as to what it even is. She's not much of a crazy religious person. She's surprisingly chill and open to it, and will share her religious practices to those who are interested. (Her hometown also practices this religion.)

Tenko- SHSL Artist: Tenko is still Tenko! But more on the creative side! She still has a burning hatred for 'degenerate males', and will ABSOLUTELY not draw them whatsoever. Even if she does, she'll just throw paint over it. She protecc all the girls. uwu👌

Himiko- SHSL Aikido Master: She's also chill, but also a bit stubborn. She'll get aggressive when she feels threatened, and has a bit of trust issues with others. (She learned Aikido to keep the bullies away.)

Korekiyo- SHSL Detective: So thankfully he doesn't like his sister- Whew. Instead, he works alongside her in his detective agency! Kork is a bit more on the anti-social side, and focused more on life itself, as well as justice to those who were murdered! He can easily get flustered though. (It's a little hard to outwit him.)

Miu- SHSL Cosplayer: Miu is more normal, with a side of lewdness. Usually when she cosplays, her outfits are...interesting. But all the people in Cons love the gold and glorious cosplayer's outfits! Some even ask for requests or commissions! So overall Miu is less lewd, but more bold of her creations. (In this case her cosplays.)

Gonta- SHSL Pianist: Gonta is mostly the same, but more gentlemanly! He's able to speak in 1st person, but prefers 3rd person. His wealthy family accepts him for who he is, and just want him to be happy! Gonta also believes that everyone is perfect, and that those who've done wrong deserve a 2nd chance!

Tsumugi- SHSL Anthropologist: Creepiness level up to 100% Just- she looks creepy, and the murder monitor is off the CHARTS. Heck- there's also her lust for her brother, which uh...is a little WORSE.

Kiibo- SHSL Magician (Wizard): Kinda like Himiko, he talks arout his MP, and dresses up like and actual wizard! Most people don't believe him for being a wizard, but the children he performs for believe! In general- Kiibo is a child-like person, even though he can be rude at times. Saying that others around him are peasants, and low-leveled unlike him! He's a level 50 wizard!!!! >:(

That's all I really have so far! Well...I have chapters and mostly everything done- I just need to do a few more things. Perhaps designs as well. But uh- if you guys want you can draw them! Secondly, since some people had their talents hidden one way or another that’s how it’ll stay here! Like how Ishimaru is SHSL Assassin he uses SHSL Child Caregiver as a cover. Same with Maki since she’s SHSL Imposter but I will let the person choose a talent they want her to impersonate under the name Maki. Thirdly, the reserve course students are allowed to be in the main course that way they have some hope of developing a talent (I know there’s only one but the point still stands). Lastly, Gonta has Komaeda’s good luck while Junko has Makoto’s good luck.

Yonaga Angie’s Stick Art Bread With eggs and fruit atop strips of bread and sprinkled with paprika, this dish is perfect for an artist like her! Ingredients: bread, mayonaisse, hard-boiled egg, bacon, yellow paprika, whipped cream, orange slices, mango sauce, grapefruit slices

Chabashira Tenko’s Dashichazuke A dish that combines dashichazuke (rice soup with green tea) with pickled Japanese vegetables, plum, and wasabi on the side to recreate her pink headband and collar and her yellow-green bandana to match her style. Ingredients: rice, mizuna, sliced ??? (tiny text), pickled ??? (tiny text part II), wasabi, pickled vegetables (pink), dashi soup, hot tea (too small to read what kind but I guess either bancha or houjicha)

Jess’s Rating: N/A, though I feel it bears noting that Chabashira always has hyper Japanese dishes/drinks that prominently feature tea

Akamatsu Kaede’s Keyboard Cheesecake ♪ For the SHSL Pianist, we’ve chosen a dessert modeled after a piano keyboard! The Saishuu Gakuen student handbook and music note pick make this dish extra cute! Jess’s Rating: It’s lemon cheesecake with chocolate and berry sauce. I literally ate this three times.

Monokuma Honey Toast We’ve taken the Monokuma you all know and turned him into honey toast! Hmmm, do you have the resolve to finish eating the whole thing?! Ingredients: black sesame ice cream, vanilla ice cream, chocolate (white and dark), strawberries, frozen berries (blueberries and raspberries), chocolate and strawberry sauce, white-striped chocolate sticks, whip cream (regular and chocolate), monaka (?)

Jess’s Rating: Delicious, though in true honey toast fashion, Nate and I didn’t quite finish all of it (we were full of like seven other drinks and three other foods, okay?)
