Calculated, cool, collected. Even as Jinpachi– or the one who called himself Jinpachi– pulled away from their side, their eyes accompanied their expression as both suggested their mind was active as it always has been, with no time for grief, or reaction at all.

To move forward: that was something Hanji was taught to do throughout this entire journey. So what they see now, in this moment, wasn’t betrayal, but simply another piece to the puzzle, a bridge that will lead them to the answer. Just as they always told themselves, like it was their personal motto, it was a waste of time to panic when you could be acting instead.

But, still…Something kept ringing in their head. Like a marble that refused to roll out of a jar. A marble whose annoyingly dainty clinks and clanks overrode everything said thus far, at least for now.

And as such, they weren't mad. If he wanted to roleplay an OC from a long-dead academy? Sure. What point would there be to stop him? After all, everything he says regardless was just a small piece of the puzzle they’re trying to solve. Even red herrings helped you get to where you need to be if you knew what to do with them.

And so, they press on.

“I’m gunna call yer bluff an’ keep assumin’ those logs were candid. Neither o’ ya knowin’ I was pissin’ all o’er yer hard work like a feral dog aside, any’un would’a jus’ tried’ta tighten security than jus’ pretend a bunch’a personal chatlogs-- ones that weren’t even guaranteed t’be found, no less. It felt a bit… uncomfortable to be hearing Hanji do a rather convincing performance of a peppy valley girl.

“So, yeah. I’m thirdin’ that familiarity crap. If yer such a renowned SHSL Imposter named Miyazaki, then who were ya before ya became Miyazaki? When did ya become Miyazaki? Th’ Shepherd mentioned sum’n ‘bout takin’ ya back to them days b’fore ya b’came Miyazaki, implyin’ ya knew ‘em long b’fore th’ theme park was completed, since they’re callin’ back on nostalgia as far as th’ beach, too. It sounded like two folks reminiscin’ th’ time they both went on a field trip t’gether as kids or whatever.”

Of course, Hanji, eyes as sharp as their mind, noticed a bunch more details they wanted to point out, but decided to wait on it, like an apex predator waiting for the right moment pounce on their prey. It would be foolish to jump right into a conclusion without having a feeling of confirmation, whether it was given to them indirectly or otherwise.

Though, the former was likely– after all, just like a fortune teller would never ask their customer for their information, it all relied on cold or warm readings if these answers were going to keep being indefinite.

“But I digress. Was Hajime Sheeperson yer ex, Miyazaki’s ex, or th’ real Otsuka’s ex? Who’s fuckin’ ex was that? An’ who created th’ theme park in th’ first place? ‘Cos if y’ain’t got connections, then someone’s gotta, fer that shit t’be custom built.”

Known for their graceful dancing and sheer stamina, Tatsumaru Harai has performed at Kabukiza Theater for the past year, moving up with ease through the ranks of actors despite their amateur status. No one’s quite sure where they came from, nor where they studied prior to working at Kabukiza, and it’s unlikely that anyone will - the mask that Tatsumaru wears at most events in lieu of revealing their identity makes them difficult to track outside of the public eye, and none of their coworkers seem to have seen their face before. As with most kabuki actors, Tatsumaru’s name was most likely taken from a mentor’s and isn’t their own, though the identity of this mentor is hard to discern as they’re extremely private about their personal life. Doubtless, however, is that the mystery and fame surrounding Tatsumaru and their identity is what led to their acceptance to Hope’s Peak Academy.

Tatsumaru is an enigma, and they prefer it that way. In social settings, they tend to avoid the spotlight with a passion, and are far more comfortable being behind the scenes instead of at the forefront of attention. Unfortunately, their standoffishness makes them a frequent target for scrutiny; this isn’t helped at all by their mask. While they aren’t mean-spirited, their bluntness and tendency to put up a variety of facades to avoid disclosing anything about themselves ends pretty much every interaction before they can start.
