This incense is amazing. It’s probably my favorite one. Its smell is sweet and reminds of caramelized/burnt sugar. Sometimes my local shop for these, for Super Hit, carries from two different locations. The one from Mumbai is subpar for whatever reason, so I usually go for the one from Bengaluru.

Looking for the “real” nag champa? (July 2020)
The iconic blue-box nag champa was created by the Late Shri K.N. Satyam Setty, founder of  Shrinivas Sugandhalaya incense company. When he died, his sons took over, and the family business shortly split in two.  Brother Nagarj Setty moved to Mumbai, experimented with machine manufacture, sued in 2014 to use the family trademarks, then opened a Bangalore address and copied his brother's every turn in packaging to shark his distributors and fool their customers. Balkrishna Setty remained in Bangalore and kept his father's ingredients and hand-rolled process. Thanks to a 2016 lawsuit that finalized in 2018, they now have separate logos and websites. It will take some time for the new logo to filter through everyone's stock, however. In the meantime, the distributors who bought Nagarj's stock realized folks across the globe would pay more for for Balkrishna's product, and started trying to pass one off as the other. Hooray, it's now extremely hard to tell who's lying out their ass and who's not. And ooooh lord, don't get me started on the angry, clueless hellbeasts on Amazon, bellowing in all caps about counterfeit and demanding a refund while posting scrupulously detailed photos of... the real thing. o_O? If you’re seeking Balkrishna Setty's product, handmade in Bangalore, his current packaging carries an additional "earth logo" with three green leaves in a square. The most promising US consumer source I've found (as of July 2020) is AromaBoutuque on Etsy. Customer review photos from this seller have all been Bangalore product so far: https://www.etsy.com/.../satya-nag-champa-original-blue-box Indications of Bangalore product: Shrinivas Sugandhalaya (BNG) LLP Earth logo and "hand rolled in India" End stickers have a new swirly-er S logo Customer care is a +91 India number Sticks are rough, dusty, and lighter color Balkrishna's website: http://satyaincense.in/ Indications of Mumbai product: Shrinivas Sugandhalaya LLP 53/54/etc years emblem and "Made in India" End stickers have interlocking C logo Sometimes a color photo of dear old dad on the back Customer care email and 1800 number. Sticks are smoother, darker, less dusty Nagarj's website: https://houseofnagchampa.com/ While researching this, I discovered my old box was Mumbai product and my most recent box was Bangalore product. The Mumbai sticks are more strongly floral. The Bangalore product is earthier, sweeter.

Is this the incense you use? Have you noticed lately that sometimes when you buy it it smells weird but sometimes it smells okay? This post is not sponsored. I learned something really helpful about my favorite incense and I know this is some of y'alls favorite incense too, so listen up. Turns out this company was owned by two brothers in India. They got into some sort of feud and in 2014 split the company. The courts allowed both of them to continue using the trademark. ⁣⁣⁣ ⁣⁣⁣ ⁣⁣⁣ One of the brothers started factory producing the products in Mumbai. The other stayed with original production which is hand rolled in Bangalore (aka Benguluru). This is why sometimes when you buy it it smells just a little different and the consistency of the incense sticks is different too. The one that seems not like it used to be is factory manufactured in Mumbai. ⁣⁣⁣ ⁣⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ The boxes look near identical. One way you can tell that you have the handrolled good stuff is by the address. Apparently the address appears in a few places on and inside the box. The authentic one has all of the addresses in Bangaluru. ⁣And it also says "Shrinivas Sugandhalaya (BNG) LLP" as opposed to "Shrinivas Sugandhalaya" without the (BNG) LLP part. ⁣⁣ ⁣⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ You can search the internet for pictures people have taken of the two boxes side by side highlighting the subtle differences of each. I actually learned about all of this on Amazon when I went to go place an order (this was my first time buying it on Amazon. IDK where to find it locally after I moved). Amazon reviews have a ton of good information and pictures of the differences.⁣ keep in mind I'm piecing all of this together from what I'm learning on the internet. And everything at the internet is always completely true, riiiiight??? Yeah, please do your own research to verify this too.⁣⁣ ⁣⁣⁣ I thought that was interesting and helpful. Now I know I'm not imagining it when sometimes I get a box and it seems a little off. Now you can be sure you're not imagining it either!⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ #incense #nagchampa #satyasaibaba #incensefamilyfeud #themoreyouknow🌈 https://www.instagram.com/p/Bx27GYsBWwX/?igshid=1dvavt58ka6db

What are some of your favorite incense to burn? 💫
Honestly, anything and everything that Shrinivas Sugandhalaya puts out. I don’t think I’ve ever burned one of their incenses and been like NO GROSS. I love everything. Also, this one incense that a family member brought me back from…. Morocco? I think. It was resin incense and it was heavenly.
