How Loban Is Made: The Journey from Collection to Creation
Loban dhoop batti, known for its aromatic and purifying properties, has been used for centuries in various cultures for religious and therapeutic purposes. The process of making loban dhoop batti involves several intricate steps, each contributing to the final product's quality and fragrance. In this article, we will explore the journey of loban from its collection in nature to the creation of the beloved dhoop batti.
The Collection of Loban
The journey begins with the collection of loban, a natural resin obtained from the Boswellia tree, primarily found in regions of India, Oman, and Africa. The resin is harvested during specific seasons when the tree's sap flow is optimal. This process involves carefully making incisions in the bark of the tree, allowing the sap to ooze out and harden into tear-shaped droplets known as frankincense.
This traditional harvesting method is crucial, as it ensures that the tree remains healthy and continues to produce resin for years to come. Local collectors, often skilled artisans, gather these resin droplets, which will eventually be transformed into loban dhoop batti.
Cleaning and Sorting
Once the loban is collected, the next step is cleaning and sorting. The raw resin contains impurities such as dirt, bark, and other foreign materials. Artisans meticulously clean the resin by hand, removing these impurities to ensure that only the purest loban is used for production.
After cleaning, the resin is sorted based on its quality and fragrance. High-quality loban has a rich aroma and is clear from blemishes, making it ideal for crafting dhoop batti. The sorting process helps manufacturers determine which batches of loban will be used for their premium products.
Grinding the Resin
The cleaned and sorted loban resin is then ground into a fine powder. This is a crucial step in the process, as the texture of the powder will affect the burning characteristics of the final product. Using traditional stone grinders or modern milling machines, artisans create a fine, uniform powder that is essential for producing quality loban dhoop batti.
During grinding, some manufacturers may also blend the loban powder with other natural ingredients such as herbs and essential oils to enhance the fragrance and therapeutic benefits of the dhoop batti. This blending process is an art form in itself, requiring knowledge of the properties of different ingredients to create a harmonious scent profile.
The Creation of Dhoop Batti
After the loban powder is prepared, it is time to create the dhoop batti. This step involves mixing the loban powder with a binding agent, typically natural gums or resins, to help the mixture hold its shape during the drying process. The proportion of loban to the binding agent is carefully measured to ensure the right balance between fragrance and burn quality.
Once the mixture is prepared, it is shaped into sticks or cones using molds or by hand. This shaping process is often performed by skilled artisans who ensure that each piece is uniform in size and shape, allowing for consistent burning and aroma release.
Drying Process
After shaping, the loban dhoop batti needs to dry properly. This step is critical, as adequate drying ensures that the dhoop batti burns evenly and produces a consistent aroma. The shaped dhoop batti is placed in a well-ventilated area, away from direct sunlight, to dry naturally.
The drying process can take several days, depending on the humidity and temperature of the environment. Once dried, the dhoop batti becomes hard and retains its shape, ready for packaging and distribution.
Packaging and Quality Control
After the drying process, the finished loban dhoop batti undergoes quality control to ensure that it meets industry standards. This involves checking for the uniformity of size, weight, and fragrance. Quality control is essential to maintain the reputation of the brand and ensure customer satisfaction.
Once the dhoop batti passes the quality checks, it is packaged in attractive, eco-friendly materials to preserve its freshness and aroma. Packaging also plays a crucial role in marketing, as consumers are often drawn to visually appealing designs.
The Journey of Loban: A Sustainable Practice
The journey of loban from collection to creation is not just a process; it is a sustainable practice that supports local communities and preserves traditional craftsmanship. Many manufacturers prioritize sustainable harvesting methods, ensuring that the Boswellia trees remain healthy and productive for generations.
By choosing loban dhoop batti, consumers are not only enjoying its aromatic benefits but also supporting sustainable practices and the livelihoods of artisans involved in the production process.
Conclusion
The creation of loban dhoop batti is a meticulous journey that involves careful collection, cleaning, grinding, shaping, drying, and packaging. Each step in this process contributes to the unique aroma and quality that makes loban dhoop batti a cherished product in homes and temples worldwide. Understanding this journey not only enhances our appreciation for this traditional incense but also highlights the importance of sustainable practices in preserving our natural resources. Next time you light a stick of loban dhoop batti, remember the craftsmanship and dedication that went into its creation, bringing a piece of nature's tranquility into your space.

Experiment in formulation
Dhoop style sticks
My first time making incense sticks! Before registering for the incense class I’ve been working through, I have made loose blends and cones before but never sticks. Dhoop sticks are made from solid incense dough unlike the common agarbatti that has a bamboo core. For the very first batch I wanted to try a recipe provided by the instructor before jumping into the homework of creating a personal formula... but I had to adjust for the ingredients I had on hand. The recipe called for makko as both a base and binder so I substituted using white pine wood as a base and guar gum to bind. I relied on the coffee grinder to process most of the ingredients to powder but saved the small amount of frankincense for the mortar and pestle. I mixed my aromatic materials and then added them to the wood, sifted in some binder and then added water. It took a couple tries increasing the amount of binder and water to get the dough just right. After a lot of kneading it seemed like it was ready to go into the extruder. However, upon extruding I was extremely disappointed as my sticks were instantly falling apart. I set a couple little sticks and a cone made out of frustration aside and the rest of the dough I put into the fridge to sit for a few hours. My hope was the moisture would absorb into the wood a little better making a more stable dough. The problem I run into is consistency. Processing my wood powder at home makes it tricky to work with but I’m learning. After the dough sat I added just a touch more water and tried again. To my relief, they extruded fine in both sizes I wanted to experiment with. I’ll let them dry and cross my fingers they don’t crack and will burn alright...
I’m not providing the recipe here since it isn’t my own. However, this blend is very martial and full of warming spices. I might do some tweaking for a planetary incense (lord knows I need some martial remediation) and will make another post on that if I do!
I was pretty impatient and tried burning one of my not so great broken sticks and it burned pretty well to my surprise ! The smell is great. Woody and warm with a hint of spice. The pine wood is mellow and complimentary to the pungent aromatics. It didn’t last very long but it was small, I will post a follow up on a timed burn with a full size thin and thick stick becuase I am interested in the difference. I am just overwhelmed with how awesome this turned out considering I thought it was a complete failure.

WORSHIPING OF LORD GANESHA AT HOME:
In this pandemic period, you may not go out to visit the vast pandals set up for worshipping Lord Ganesha. Instead, you may purchase a Ganesh idol online and install the same at your home for praying and seeking blessings.
The Idol's height should be in accordance with the place where it has to be kept in the house. Before bringing the Lord Ganesha's idol to home, the home should be cleaned.
All family members should collectively and cheerfully welcome the lord, which has been brought for installing at their home. Worshipping Lord Ganesh has the following significance :
Wishing you happiness - as big as Ganesh's appetite,
Life - as long as his trunk,
Trouble - as small as his mouse
Moments - as sweet as modaks.
POOJA-VIDHI:
Ganesh Chaturthi falls on 22nd August 2020 this year (during the Sthapana time of 11.06 AM to 1.42 PM). The idol purchased online should be kept on a raised platform, with a red cover beneath it in the North-East zone of the home.

A red coloured sandalwood tilak should be placed on Ganpati's forehead. Then, Light Agarbatti / Dhoop / Diya with Desi Ghee in front of Lord Ganesha Idols. Worship the Almighty with utmost devotion by singing mantras and aarti.
During these ten days, treat Lord Ganpati as a divine guest at home, and anything prepared at home should be first offered to him as a mark of respec
DO’S & DON'TS
During these ten days, Lord Ganesh's idol is not left alone at home.
One should refrain from using Non-vegetarian food and alcohol during this time.

Remember to serve all food/dishes to Lord Ganesha first and only after his bhog ceremony, the same shall be served to other members of the family.
Refrain placing Ganesha's idol near the washroom facilities.
GANESHA VISARJAN:
At the end of the ten days pooja, request Lord Ganesha to forgive you for any mistakes inadvertently done during the pooja. On the 11th day, immerse the Ganesha idol in water. It signifies that Lord Ganesha has gone back to Kailash after taking away all difficulties of their devotees. Alternatively, you can also keep the Ganesh Idols at their homes and worship them endlessly.
CONCLUSION:

వరలక్ష్మీ వ్రతం రోజు అమ్మవారిని వీటితో పూజించినా అలంకరించిన కటిక దరిద్రాన్ని పొందుతారు https://youtu.be/OQgUT3mUFjk
In the beginning, the houses are cleaned and a rangoli is drawn at the doorstep to welcome Goddess Lakshmi. Before beginning the puja, Hindus consider it important to cleanse and purify the space where the Puja is being carried out. For this, “Guggal” or Loban (Benzoin) is lighted using either coal or dried pan cakes made of cowdung. Its incense armotic fumes are considered to purify the atmosphere. However instead, Readmade Dhoop Cones brought from market are also used. Once the place is smoked and cleansed, the puja begins by laying down a piece of new cloth on a raised platform. Handfuls of grains are sprayed in the center of the cloth and a kalasha made of gold, silver, or copper is placed on top. Three-quarters of the kalasha is filled with water and betel nut, a flower, a coin, and a few rice grains are added to it. Five kinds of leaves are arranged (if a specified species is not available, leaves from a mango tree are used) and a small dish filled with rice grains is placed on the kalasha. A lotus is drawn over the rice grains with turmeric powder and the idol of Goddess Lakshmi is placed over the top of the kalasha, and coins are placed around it.The idol of Lord Ganesha is placed in front of the kalasha, on the right hand side pointing towards the south-west. Ink and business account books of the worshippers are kept on the platform. Specially blended oils made for puja are used with its ingredients varying, depending on the deity it's being offered to. A “Panchmukhi Diya” (Five faced lamp) accommodating 5 wicks are lit for this purpose. A special lamp is then lit in front of Lord Ganesha. The puja begins by offering turmeric, kumkuma and flowers to the Goddess Lakshmi. Then haldi, kumkum, and flowers are offered to the water, later used for the puja. The river goddess Saraswati is invoked to become part of that water. Goddess Lakshmi is worshiped and invoked by reciting Vedic mantras, hymns and prayers addressed to her. Her idol is placed in a plate and is bathed with panchamrita (a mixture of milk, curd, ghee or clarified butter, honey, and sugar) and then with water containing a gold ornament or a pearl. Her idol is cleaned and placed back on the kalasha. A special lamp is then lit in front of Goddess Lakshmi.Offerings of sandal paste, saffron paste, garland of cotton beads or flowers, ittar (perfume), turmeric, kumkum, abir, and gulal are then made to the Goddess Lakshmi. Flowers and garlands, such as Lotus, Marigold, Rose, Chrysanthemum and leaves of Bael (wood apple tree) are also offered. An incense stick is lit and dhoop is given to her. An offering of sweets, coconut, fruits, and tambul is made later. Puffed rice and batasha (varieties of Indian sweets) are placed near the idol. Puffed rice, batasha, coriander seeds, and cumin seeds are poured or offered to her idol. In villages, a pot made of bamboo-canes measuring the paddy known as Nana' is filled up to the brink with freshly harvest paddy. Rice and lentils are also kept with the paddy. The `Mana' is the symbol of Mahalakshmi. Adoration of the Goddess is done by offering fruits, coconut, banana, doob-grass, amla, curd, turmeric, flowers, incense etc. It is customary to read out the holy book, the Eulogy, “Lakshmi Puran” while performing the pooja.[13] A Swastika symbol is also then drawn on the safe or vault in which the devotee keeps their valuables and it is worshiped as a symbol of Lord Kubera.Towards the end of the ritual, Aarti is performed which is dedicated to Goddess Lakshmi. The Aarti is accompanied by a small bell and is performed in a silent and sublime atmosphere. #ఇల్లాలు ఈ రంగు చీర కట్టుకుంటే లక్ష్మిదేవి ఇంట్లోనే ఉంటుంది https://youtu.be/0V6P8c5iBGo Follow us on You tube : https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCGW1Coc_pWdRDtzEFgYlYPQ/ FACEBOOK: https://www.facebook.com/best.guru.7731?ref=bookmarks TWITTER: https://twitter.com/PHANIKR94440243 INSTAGRAM: https://www.instagram.com/bestgurutv BLOGGER: https://www.blogger.com/profile/12948348718423412871 #జులై 31 వరలక్ష్మి వ్రతం ఈ సమయంలో చేస్తేనే ఇంట్లో డబ్బే డబ్బు #శుక్రవారం వరలక్ష్మి అమ్మవారి అలంకరణ#Varalakshmi #pooja #decoration #VaralakshmiVratam #వరలక్ష్మదేవికి ఇష్టమైన నైవేద్యాలు, పూలు ఏమిటి..?

But the standard means of celebrating Diwali involves decorating your homes and offices with impressive crafts. The people enjoy to prepare different designs on the auspicious event of Diwali because the soul of the event encourages them to state their creativity. Lights and diyas are lit to indicate the operating out of night and ignorance, as well as the awakening of the light within ourselves. Diwali is a time for family events, food, activities, change of gifts and Pooja. The goddess Laxmi plays a major position in this event, as do Ram and Sita. This autumn festival is celebrated for five continuous days, that each you've got its significance. Puja Thali: Puja thali features a unique significance for the festival of Diwali in that your praise of Goddess Lakshmi is the key theme. Puja thali could be the menu in which dozens of extras are kept that is needed to conduct the praise or the Puja of the Lord and Goddess such as the Roli for tilak, Akshat, Ghanti (bell), a tiny Kalash filled with water, Kalava to link across the arm, silver or magic coins, Aarti-diya and some colorful flowers. Puja Components: The Puja extras necessary for praise on Diwali includes the next products: Roli for tilak, Akshat (the grain grains), Ghanti (bell), a small Kalash filled up with water, Kalava or mauli to link across the wrist, Aarti-diya, dhoop, agarbatti, camphor, coconut, betel, betel leaves, sandalwood paste, candles, plants, seasonal fruits and sweetmeats as prasad and magic or gold coins having image of Goddess Lakshmi, Master Ganesha, Om, Swastika. Diwali Rangolis: Rangolis are one of many oldest and most lovely art kinds of India. Rangolis are habits or motifs, generally depicting Character, drawn on the ground or a wall with powdered shade made out of normal vegetable dyes. The word Rangoli comes from the Sanskrit term'called'this means color, and'aavalli'meaning lines or creepers. So a Rangoli is actually a line of shade, weaved into a design of sorts. Based on the Chitralakshana, the earliest Indian treatise on painting, when the son of a King's high priest died, the king was most distressed. Brahma, lord of the universe decided to greatly help the master and requested him to color a similarity of the child on the wall to ensure that Brahma could breathe life in to him again. That was believed to be the initial Rangoli. Still another legend has it that Lord, in one of his creative feelings, produced the juice of a apple and colored with it the figure of a woman therefore beautiful that the painting set all of the maidens in paradise at waste!
