Ekadashi is the eleventh lunar day of the fortnight which occurs twice every month. One falls during the Shukla Paksha (waxing phase of the moon) and the other on the Krishna Paksha (waning phase of the moon). There are 24 ekadashis in a year. The number goes up to 26 during the ‘Adhika maas’, extra month as per the Hindu calendar. Ekadashi that falls on the Ashadha month, the eleventh month according to the Hindu calendar is called as Devshayani Ekadashi. Today is Devshayani Ekadashi, ie 10 July 2022. Devshayani Ekadashi is also known as Ashadi Ekadashi, Padma Ekadashi, and Hari Shayani Ekadashi. What is Chaturmaas? Lord Vishnu falls asleep in the Kshir Sagar (the ocean of milk) on Shesha Naga (king of all nagas). Hence the day is called Shayani Ekadashi. He awakens from his deep sleep after four months on Prabodhini Ekadashi which falls in the Hindu month of Karthik coinciding with the Gregorian months of October or November. This period of four months is called Chaturmaas. ‘Chatur’ meaning ‘four’ and ‘maas’ means months. Why does Shri Vishnu go to sleep? On Devshayani Ekadashi, before Shravan Mass lord Vishnu Goes in Yog Nidra (Sleep), So Lord Shiva take care of the universe in his absence. That is also a reason why people worship lord Shiva in Shravan mass. In the rainy season, after Shri Vishnu sleeps for four months the annual pralaya takes place. The lord sleeps as he is tired of his work and needs a break. This pralaya is the time when the world gets a new life. The rishis are said to divide the year into two parts – the first from January to June and the second from July to December. During the second half of the year, the days are shorter and belongs to daityas (demons). Hence, it is the time when people observe more fasts, abstain from non-vegetarian food and alcohol, and celebrate festivals to seek the blessings of God and to keep up with good deeds. There are a number of festivals during these four months – starting with Nag Panchami, Krishna Janmashtami, Raksha Bandhan, Ganeshotsav, and Diwali. During Diwali, Goddess Lakshmi is worshipped and this is also the time when Lord Vishnu wakes up from his sleep. After he wakes up, Lord Vishnu .#god https://www.instagram.com/p/Cf1sJcapJKB/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

RAKSHA BANDHAN
Tumblr media
India is known as country of festivals. Raksha bandhan is also a very important festival celebrated in India. It is a festival to celebrate the bond between siblings. Raksha Bandhan is celebrated in India in the month of Shravan, also called Sawan, which generally falls on July or August. This year, we will be celebrating Raksha Bandhan on August 2.
In Sanskrit, Raksha Bandhan simply means ‘the bond of protection, obligation, or care’ and thus it signifies the bond between a sister and her brother. To celebrate this bond, a simple ceremony is performed when a sister ties Rakhi on the wrist of her brother as he promises to protect her from all the troubles. Both sisters and brothers then treat each other with gifts and surprises and share affection with each other.
Importance
Raksha Bandhan is not just a festival celebrated as a custom. Rather, this festival is a day to build new relationships with emotions. On this day, sisters not only tie Rakhi to brothers but they also tie Rakhi to those whom they wish to protect. Like in India, there are women in different places who send Rakhi to the heroes (soldiers) of the country and pray for their long life.
HISTORY
There are many mythological stories behind the festival of Raksha Bandhan. One of the most famous stories is from ‘Mahabharata’. It is said that once Lord Krishna was flying kite with Pandavas, Draupadi and Subhadra. Lord Krishna met with a deep cut with Kite’s threat and the wound started bleeding. Draupadi rushed to lord Krishna and tied a piece of cloth on his finger to avoid bleeding. To see the gesture of Draupadi, Lord Krishna promised her that he will always protect her from all the difficulties likewise.
Apart from Hindu mythology, Chittor’s queen Karnavati and Agra’s emperor Humayun's Raksha Bandhan story is highly admirable. It has been said that Raani Karnavati was a widowed queen of Chittor, Rajasthan. Once, she was attacked by the Afghan Sultan from Gujarat. She knew that it won’t be easy for her to win the battle, so she sent a Rakhi to the Mughal emperor. After receiving Rakhi, Humayun went emotional and sent his troops to protect Chittor. This incident added feathers to the festival's significance and also released it from the religious barriers.
Raksha Bandhan Legends
The festival of Raksha Bandhan is mainly celebrated for protection. There are various stories and legends in Hindu Mythology as well as in history, where Gods have tied the rakhi to protect their loved ones for their protection. Here are the stories:
Indra Indrani: This legend tells us that Rakhi is a sacred thread of protection and it cannot only be tied to the brothers for protection, but also to the ones we love. The story of Indra and Indrani takes place in the Vedic period when a battle of the gods and demons took place. Indrani, the companion of Indra, tied a sacred thread on the wrist of her husband for protection against the evil demons.
Krishna and Draupadi: In the Mahabharata, Lord Krishna had hurt his finger when he had sent his Sudarshan Chakra from his finger to behead Shishupala. Draupadi then bandaged his finger with a piece of cloth from her saree. Lord Krishna who was moved by her deed promised to protect her from all odds.
Yama Yamuna: In this story, Yama tied a sacred thread on the wrist of her brother Yamuna to protect him from the curse of dead and mutilation from his stepmother, Chhaya. He told his mother that he knew of her secret to which she got furious and gave this curse to him, which was lifted because of the thread.
King Bali and Goddess Laxmi: Goddess Laxmi disguised herself as a Brahmin woman and tied a rakhi to King Bali on the day of Shravan Purnima. She then revealed herself and asked the king to free his companion, Lord Vishnu and let him return to Vaikunth.
Santoshi Maa and Lord Ganesha: This legend is considered to be the reason behind the celebration of Raksha Bandhan. Lord Ganesha had two sons who asked him to bring a sister who would tie rakhi to them. Ganesha then created Santoshi Maa who tied rakhi to his sons.
How do we celebrate Rakhi?
Before raksha bandhan also known as “rakhi”, sisters brings Rakhi for their brother. Rakhi is typically a band which can be tied on wrist. While brother brings their sister a gift. On the day of rakhi, sister first do the Pooja after getting ready and then apply roli and chawal on forehead of her brother and then tie rakhi and in exchange brother promise her to always protect her and gives her a gift.

The nine-day festival of Navratri dedicated to Goddess Durga in the month of Ashwin
The nine-day celebration of Navratri devoted to Goddess Durga in the long stretch of Ashwin generally starts not long after Pitru Paksha closes. Notwithstanding, this year, aficionados should trust that a month will observe Shardiya Navratri. Peruse on to recognize what has prompted this uncommon event.
Why would that be a hole of one month between Pitru Paksha and Sharadiya Navratri?
The Chaturmas comprises of Shravan, Bhadrapada, Ashwin, and Kartik. Significant celebrations are praised, and vrats are seen during this period. A Hindu schedule year comprises of a year. Be that as it may, once in around three years, the thirteen-month is incorporated to adjust it to the Solar schedule. This is one such year, when the Adhik Maas, otherwise called Purushottam Maas is added to the Lunar schedule. Along these lines, the period of Ashwin will be clubbed with the Purushottam Maas. Also, this Purushottam Maas will be an expansion to the long stretch of Ashwin this year.
Strikingly, the deferral of the Ashwin month because of the Adhik Maas has occurred following 165 years, the crystal gazers accept. Also, along these lines, it is an uncommon event. Subsequently, the Chaturmas will currently have an additional month. Snap here to know what Chaturmas is and why it isn't viewed as ideal for completing promising capacities like relationships, grihapravesh (house warming), mundan (head shaving service of little youngsters), etc. What is Pitru Paksha?
The Pitru Paksha is a period in the Hindu schedule which is intended for paying respect to the perished progenitors. Men perform Shradh ceremonies during this period to satisfy their progenitors and furthermore freed themselves of the Pitru Dosha. What is Pitru Dosha?
Pitru Dosha implies the scourge of the progenitors. The Shradh customs must be performed normally to satisfy dead relatives. The dosha may occur if an individual has made mischief the perished during his lifetime or disappointed them by doing things that they objected. Hence, by playing out the Shradh customs, one can look for absolution from the individuals who are not, at this point alive. It is a demonstration of apology.

He dropped the ring in front of Sita ji. All the names of the world are false, the true name is only one, the name Ram. Hanuman ji narrated Ram Katha to Maa. Does the sant have anything to tell except Bhagwan's Katha? Katha gives welfare only by listening. On hearing Sita ji's grief escaped. People who are not interested in Bhagwan's Katha, and are interested in the agony of the world, they cannot get peace. The story of the world is about to lead to death. "Sunai ko shravan shool sam baani" Hanuman ji is still hidden, does not come forward, so that Maa should not be afraid. And when he came, that's what he feared. Sita ji got scared- "Firi baithi man vismay bhayahu" Hanuman ji says- Maa! Look at Katha, do not look at the narrator. The story itself is beautiful, the narrator is a complete monkey. There was a long discussion here, then Sita ji started blessing. She first gave five blessings, then said that may Bhagwan loves you a lot- "Karhun bahut Raghunayak chhohu" Hanuman ji felt that he had got the body of the five elements in the form of five blessings, and in the sixth blessing, he got life in the form of Bhagwan's love. As if a new birth has been found. The old habit returned. He got hungry- "Janam te lagi jathar ki aag" He started looking at the fruits. Sita ji says- Son! Do not eat these fruits, these are the fruits of Lanka, of the world. It is beautiful only to look at, but poisonous in eating. But then mother said- "Raghupati charan hriday dhari taat 'Madhur' fal khahu" This is the secret, the world is "poison", but if you add the name of "Ram" to this poison, then the poison + Ram becomes "Rest". Then the poisonous fruits turn sweet. Actually Hanuman ji does not have to taste the fruit, he wants Ravan to taste the fruit. Which fruit? The same fruit that one eats who does not recite the name of Ram ji- "Bhajahu na ramhi so fal dehu" Listen to this video carefully- True Name True Katha https://youtu.be/bOw-hbGl60M And, Raghupati Charan Hriday Dhari https:// https://www.instagram.com/p/CZndwPCBgEB/?utm_medium=tumblr
