Shravan will last two months in 2023
Historically, Sawan has been considered an auspicious month for Hindus, particularly Lord Shiva’s devotees. It is believed that during this time, Lord Shiva blesses his devotees with his divine grace and fulfills their wishes. Many people observe fasting and offer prayers to Lord Shiva throughout the month.
Hindus are preparing to commemorate the holy month of Sawan, also known as Sravana or Shravan, which is rapidly approaching. The Shrawan Maas (month) celebration, which honors Lord Shiva, is extremely important to Hindus, especially to Shiva followers. Millions of Hindus in India and other areas of the world observe this week as one of spiritual devotion, fasting, and celebration. Sawan typically occurs during the months of July and August, right when India’s monsoon season begins. The blessing of Lord Shiva and a sign of fresh life, rain is considered to be.
We are all aware that every four years there is a leap year, which has 29 days instead of 28 in February. Therefore, a leap year has 366 days as opposed to 365. When there are 13 months in a year rather than 12, something comparable occurs once every three years according to the Hindu calendar. It will continue to be the same in the forthcoming new year. The month of Shravan will remain longer in 2023—actually, it will be observed for two months—allowing Shiva worshippers to adore the god a little more than usual.
According to astrological forecasts, this year will see a number of noteworthy occurrences and developments that will present you with new possibilities and good fortune as well as enable you to reach new heights.
Why the month of Shravan will last two months now without further ado!
The worshippers of Lord Shiva will have a great grins on their faces in the new year because they will have plenty of time to satisfy their Lord! In 2023, the month of Shravan, which is dedicated to Lord Shiva, will be observed for two months for the first time in around 19 years. The main cause of this is Malamas. On July 4th, 2023, Shravan or Sawan will begin, and it will last until August 31st, 2023. There will be 59 days in all, with eight Sawan Mondays or Somwars as opposed to the regular four each year. Due to a unique occurrence, the Shrawan celebrations this year will stretch for 59 days, giving Sawan special importance.
Every third year, according to the Vedic calendar, a new month is added. There will be 13 months this year rather than the customary 12 due to the presence of Adhik Maas. Regarding the lunar month and its attendant celebrations, this two-month Sawan is very significant.
What time is Sawan or Shravan?
The month of Sawan will begin on July 4 and go through August 31 this year. Therefore, Hindus are excited. This year is especially fortunate because of its remarkable 59-day length. After 19 years, it is an uncommon phenomenon that is taking place. The Adhik Maas or Mal Maas, according to astrological calculations and the Hindu calendar, has reportedly increased the length of the Sawan month for 2 months with 8 Sravan somvar.
Celebrations for Sawan
In addition to the Sawan Somwar vrats (fasts) honouring Lord Shiva and Maa Parvati, the Kanwar Yatra plays a big role in the Shravan celebrations. The practise entails Lord Shiva followers taking water from sacred rivers in little pots called Kanwars, dressing in saffron-colored clothing, and trekking to holy locations connected to Lord Shiva on foot to signify their devotion and dedication.

Ekadashi is the eleventh lunar day of the fortnight which occurs twice every month. One falls during the Shukla Paksha (waxing phase of the moon) and the other on the Krishna Paksha (waning phase of the moon). There are 24 ekadashis in a year. The number goes up to 26 during the ‘Adhika maas’, extra month as per the Hindu calendar. Ekadashi that falls on the Ashadha month, the eleventh month according to the Hindu calendar is called as Devshayani Ekadashi. Today is Devshayani Ekadashi, ie 10 July 2022. Devshayani Ekadashi is also known as Ashadi Ekadashi, Padma Ekadashi, and Hari Shayani Ekadashi. What is Chaturmaas? Lord Vishnu falls asleep in the Kshir Sagar (the ocean of milk) on Shesha Naga (king of all nagas). Hence the day is called Shayani Ekadashi. He awakens from his deep sleep after four months on Prabodhini Ekadashi which falls in the Hindu month of Karthik coinciding with the Gregorian months of October or November. This period of four months is called Chaturmaas. ‘Chatur’ meaning ‘four’ and ‘maas’ means months. Why does Shri Vishnu go to sleep? On Devshayani Ekadashi, before Shravan Mass lord Vishnu Goes in Yog Nidra (Sleep), So Lord Shiva take care of the universe in his absence. That is also a reason why people worship lord Shiva in Shravan mass. In the rainy season, after Shri Vishnu sleeps for four months the annual pralaya takes place. The lord sleeps as he is tired of his work and needs a break. This pralaya is the time when the world gets a new life. The rishis are said to divide the year into two parts – the first from January to June and the second from July to December. During the second half of the year, the days are shorter and belongs to daityas (demons). Hence, it is the time when people observe more fasts, abstain from non-vegetarian food and alcohol, and celebrate festivals to seek the blessings of God and to keep up with good deeds. There are a number of festivals during these four months – starting with Nag Panchami, Krishna Janmashtami, Raksha Bandhan, Ganeshotsav, and Diwali. During Diwali, Goddess Lakshmi is worshipped and this is also the time when Lord Vishnu wakes up from his sleep. After he wakes up, Lord Vishnu .#god https://www.instagram.com/p/Cf1sJcapJKB/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

Goddes Jivati .. her pooja is generally done by all the mothers for the good and well being of their children. It’s said that when the child is born from that day counting to the 5 th day . . Small pooja is done on where we invite Goddes Jivati Aai to write the bhavishya/ Bhagya of the child.😇🙏🏻.. so from that time when the child is born all the mothers they offer pooja to Goddes Jivati Aai for all the well being of the children. And in shravan month Friday’s are considered for that pooja and in general also Fridays are considered for Goddess Pooja : Mahalakshmi / Jevati etc. all the Devi’s 😇🙏🏻 And Shravan Monday are days where Lord shiv ki upaasna hoti hai.. innumerable stories of Shiva .. ... and today Saturday is Naag Panchami ..
Naga Panchami is a day of traditional worship of Nagas or snakes observed by Hindus throughout India, Nepal, and other countries where Hindu adherents live. The worship is offered on the fifth day of bright half of lunar month of Shravana, according to the Hindu calendar.
.. and the brightest talent of the little girl plays from the early morning hours driving the gloom of the hospice .. she adorns the other social media outlets at T and FB and I .. so difficult to mix Karnatak and Western Pop together and with such finesse .. neither the rag and aalaap nor the singing of pop find any error .. simply amazing ..

In the month of Shravan, Snakes often come out of their burrows as burrows get with water because of the rain. We offer milk to God Snake. Shravan Maas is the 5th month of the Hindu calendar. This entire month is dedicated to the worshipping of Lord Shiva and praying to him during this time pleases him very much. A lot of people observe fast the entire Sawan Month and pray to the Shiva Lingam every day. They also organize various puja and other ceremonies to please Lord Shiva and to get his blessings. Shravan Purnima or the full moon day in Shravan maas is coincides with the Nakshatra or birth star of Lord Vishnu or Shravan Nakshatra and is therefore called Sawan Maas. In this month each Somvar or Monday is called Shravan Somvar and is considered highly auspicious. All Mondays in Shravan month are celebrated in Lord Shiva temples. A Dharanatra is hung over the Shiva Lingam filled with Holy water and milk, to continuously bathe the lingam, throughout the day and night. Lord Shiva devotees then offer Bilva leaves, holy water and milk and flowers, also known as Falam toyam and Pushpam patram to the Shiva Lingam every Monday throughout Sawan Month.
