How do the shows work? I haven’t seen any ever, I think they used to host shows over here but I have a feeling that they’re nowadays kept online for disease control.

Yay questions, So shows differentiate everywhere and there's three major types of shows. County fair, Jackpots, and Nationals. Now I only show at County Fair. (But I'll tell you the others). Not going to discredit if you know this information, but to be able to show livestock in most shows you must be an active member in either FFA or 4H.

County fair shows are the shows that take place at well county fairs (In the US).

Jackpots are non county sanctioned and usually have cash prizes and intense competition

Nationals or NAILE as it's known takes place in Kentucky each each and it's like the peak of showing for most.

At my county fair shows are usually a simple ride. On one Saturday I haul all my animals in, then for a few days they just stay at the fairgrounds. Then a show day will take place during the week, I'll use cattle for example.

On a show day the show starts at 5pm, I go in hours before and wash my steer and prepare him. When 5 hits I basically just stand there and wait until my class is called. When called me and the others go and enter the ring.

In the ring you follow a pattern (I've done this my whole life and still don't have it memorized.) but it usually looks like. The best way to describe it is just stopping, setting your calf up, then moving into a different lineup. All so the judge can see every angle. Each class only takes around 5 minutes, and at the end the exhibitors are lined up from 1st - last. As they exit the judge will explain why they placed they way and ECT.

Gypsy Rider....

The fairground travellers always fascinate me. Not always the friendliest folk with us gorgers (non romanys )but so hardworking and quite amazing how they stay upright on some of the more hair raising rides, but they’ve probably been doing it most of their lives.
