Summary: Shinobu finds herself having dinner with Shutaro alone at his house while the rest of the Mendou family is on vacation. Shutaro offers her a drink from his father's collection, and he shows another side of himself.

In the little over a year that Shinobu's relationship with Ataru got rockier, and that overly pretty harlot from space showed up, Shutaro and her had gotten a lot closer. They'd started dating months ago, and somehow found themselves on double date after double date with Lum and Ataru all that time—a number of them taking her to Shutaro's incredibly opulent home. But in the time since Shinobu had known Shutaro Mendou she'd never seen the manor so empty.

It always had a bustling staff, or his sister sneaking about, or his parents 'ohoho'ing about their latest scheme—but today it was as silent as a tomb save for the occasional glimpse of a staff member out of the corner of her eye.

Her heart was racing. His parents were out with a good portion of the staff, leaving her and him alone. 

A man and a woman alone in his beautiful, quiet house. Together.

He'd invited her over for dinner, claiming boredom with most of the household absent. They'd gone on some wild vacation to India apparently, and Shutaro had stayed behind so that he wouldn't miss school. Though privately Shinobu thought it might also be about keeping an eye on Ataru and Lum. It would be a simple meal, he'd promised, since the staff was so reduced.

It had been absolutely opulent, anyway. They'd started on far sides of his enormous table, like some kind of joke in a movie, but had ended up sitting side by side after they'd gotten sick of shouting down the table at once another.

She was nursing the dessert course when she finally let her shoulder rest against his with a gentle flush. Ataru and Lum weren't here right now—were they? Shinobu couldn't help her little grin as she popped the fork in her mouth again and glanced up at Shutaro for what felt like the hundredth time. 

He had such a classical, and noble look to him; the pinnacle of what a handsome Japanese man was meant to look like. Sharp cheekbones and jaw, but a soft chin and delicate mouth. A high brow with arching eyebrows, and large, almost luminous dark eyes. His thick, dark hair was always kept neat as a pin, swept back from his temples. He looked like a cut out from some kind of military modeling magazine.

Of course, that was only when he wasn't moving. The image of perfection was shattered any time he got excited; whether flustered, angry, or eager. Then his hair would go askew and his delicate mouth would twist up into some absurd, intense expression that lit up his whole face.

Shinobu knew it wasn't exactly the most proper thing in the world—but she had to admit she liked that part of him more than she'd admit. Those moments when he lost some of that handsome composure were almost exciting—and he was just as handsome, even if he was also kind of ridiculous.

Maybe it was one of the things that made him feel more approachable?

He caught her eye as she looked at him, and smiled-– one of his delicate, composed smiles. "I hope dessert was to your liking."

"It was delicious, I don't think I've ever had anything half as good in any of the cafes around here!"

"I'd be surprised if you had. My mother brought some of her staff over from France, including a master baker." The smile remained on his face. Proud. Subtle. And then it changed. It grew wider. "Would you like to join me for one more course? Since it's a special occasion."

Her question about his mother's time in France died almost immediately as the rest of it sunk in. She turned to face him, careful not to bump her chest against his arm, and grinned widely. "One more course? I'm getting kinda full but, well. I'm a sucker for temptation?" 

"This one shouldn't be too heavy." Shutaro chuckled and stood. He offered her his hand in a quite gentlemanly way to help her stand, but she could read the smile on his face now. Mischief. 

That thrill of attraction fluttered in her stomach as she grabbed his hand and stood in a smooth motion before smoothing out her skirt. 

Mischief—the same sort his sister always got up to, or sparkled in his dad's eyes—was very much alive with Shutaro. She bit her lip to keep from grinning too wide. "I'm trusting you." 

"Why Miss Shinobu, you almost sound like I'm not trustworthy." He kept her hand in his as he led her from the huge dining room, through the long, mazelike corridors of the house.

"I've met your little sister, Shutaro," Shinobu drawled as she squeezed his hand a little tighter. "I know how far you can usually trust your family."

She couldn't help but tease a little bit, but honestly she trusted him a lot. They'd been through some crazy shit together by now, hadn't they? Only a year and they'd dealt with alien replicators, time travel and alternate futures, dream demons and more…and Shutaro, even with his wandering eye to Lum, was more than trustworthy.

She felt herself flushing again and walked closer, close enough that her chest brushed his arm.

Her answer seemed to amuse him, and he lifted his chin, brushing his fingers through his dark hair with his free hand as he escorted her. "Comparing me to my sister. Tch. Haven't I always been a perfect gentleman to you?"

Shutaro stopped before a door along one side of the hall, not so much unremarkable— a door with a gold handle and inlaid carvings could never be unremarkable— more that it was to Shinobu indistinguishable from all the other remarkable doors in the house.

She rubbed her cheek against his shoulder with a curious huff. "Well…You have been. Mostly. Except for that time at the beach with Lum, or that time you ran around possessed by a demon and saying nasty things about the girls in our class." 

Shutaro turned rather red and a few hairs fell into his face, which he promptly pushed away. 

"Well, you certainly can't hold having been possessed by a demon against me!" He coughed, and moved to open the door. "A-at any rate, here we are."

The door opened onto what appeared to be a lavish parlor or drawing room. It was huge; high walls done up in sleek and polished mahogany and bookcases filled with books Shinobu could barely even read the names of with the sheer number of languages on display. A rug clearly made from a literal, actual polar bear sat before a large fireplace flanked on either side by military uniforms on mannequins bearing gas masks and caps. Firearms hung from hooks—exotic and deadly looking polearms and knives dangling above paintings of the open sky and hanging model airplanes from the ceiling.

A fucking plane propeller and the nose of an old zero fighter jutted out over the fireplace itself. It was like the armies and air forces of the world vomited in the most classy way possible across a palatial drawing room straight out of a girl's manga.

Shinobu almost missed the large racks of exotic alcohol nestled between the bookcases, but that was exactly where Shutaro headed.

"Here we are," he repeated as he stood, admiring the cabinet. "The perfect thing to finish off a lovely dinner together."

Shinobu shook herself out of her surprise at the room to look at him. 

"T–the gun?" Briefly, a scene straight out of their English class's literature segment flashed through her mind. 'The Most Dangerous Game'.

But that really was more Ryoko's kind of 'after dinner treat'. She shook her head and quickly corrected. "--- I mean the alcohol?" 

Shutaro laughed, he'd apparently taken it as a joke, and he gestured at the wide array of liquors. "The alcohol, yes! It's traditional to end a good meal with a good drink."

Technically speaking both of them were well under the Japanese drinking age of 20, but that was the kind of law that almost everyone ignored anyway. And certainly not the kind of law that anyone as wealthy or powerful as the Mendou family paid any kind of attention to.

Really, when you got as powerful as the Mendou's laws were kind of a guideline rather than a strict rule. Besides, she had drinks even at home on occasion, during celebrations or swiped from her father's cabinet. Cheap sake and beer ferreted away every now and again when she wanted to feel like a rebel with the limited amount of freedom she could manage before she got another lecture about respectability.

She smiled widely. "Well, if it's traditional, I'm hardly going to say no." 

"I had hoped that would be your answer." He let her hand drop finally, and ran his fingers over the brightly colored and labeled bottles. "What do you think, sake, or something more exotic?"

"It's not every day I get the chance to have something exotic," Shinobu laughed. "and I think I've had enough of my dad's cheap sake by now." 

"Your taste is too good for your circumstances, Miss Shinobu. It does you credit." He winked at her teasingly. "How about a whisky? Straight from Ireland."

Shinobu felt her face heating up. It wasn't the first time he affectionately teased her about her taste outstripping her circumstances—but it flustered her damn near every time. "Straight from Ireland? What's it made out of?" 

"Malted barley grain. This one was given to my father by a particular English millionaire in his military club. Whisky's what all the English and American businessmen drink." He got down the bottle– it's label looked quite faded and aged, and it bore a cracked wax seal. "It tastes quite different than sake."

"Malted barley grain," Shinobu mused as she stared at the bottle. It looked old—it was clearly old. This was something that'd go for the price of—she had no idea. Maybe an apartment for a month, knowing the Mendou family. Or more. "It does, huh? And he won't notice a little bit of it missing?" 

He waved his hand, smiling brightly, that same mischievous smile. "If he was here, he'd offer it to you himself, I'm sure of it."

She had no idea whether that was true or not. Mr. Mendou… could be pretty odd.

He'd either offer it heartilly, or he'd dangle it at the end of a deadly obstacle course as the 'prize' for making it through unscathed. The capriciousness of the Mendou family could NOT be understated.

Still Shinobu grinned widely. "Alright then. I'm for it! Let's try it, Shutaro!"

A couple of minutes later and she was on the drawing room couch with him sitting quite close to her. Each of them were part way through a crystal glass filled with a generous measure of honey colored liquid poured over perfectly clear cubes of ice.

Shutaro had been right. It was very different than sake.

For one thing it was a hell of a lot stronger.

She'd actually coughed a few times when she'd first taken a sip, the sharp and heavy taste of it thick on her tongue as she fell against Shutaro. But after a few sips—and a mental note not to sip too fast—she was getting the hang of it.

The sharp biting burn of the alcohol, the heady and almost warm taste of it—it was actually pretty fantastic. 

"...huh." she murmured as she rested her head against his shoulder. "This stuff's not half bad." 

Shutaro had unbuttoned his jacket, and he extended his arm around her shoulders, pulling her closer as he sipped his drink. His cheeks were already a little bit rosier, and he hadn't bothered to push away the stray lock of hair in his face. "I've been thinking I have a bit of a taste for it."

Was she just as flushed as he was? She probably was. The drink was certainly hitting hard, and she felt warm and buzzy in her chest as she snuggled closer under his arm with a little sound that almost sounded like a purr.

"Uh oh, me too—it's probably not going to be an easy one to get more of, though." 

"Well, the rarity makes it sweeter, certainly," he chuckled— a warm, rather gravelly sound. "But I might like to sample other varieties. Sometimes something apparently common surprises you with its quality."

Shinobu felt another thrum of warmth, looking up at him with a lopsided edge to her smile. "You find something like that recently? Outside of the liquor store, I mean."

Sometimes something apparently common surprises you with its quality—she couldn't help but think of herself, maybe. 'Everyday, average Shinobu Miyake of Tomobiki-cho', living in her average house with her average parents—yet.

He took another long sip of his whisky before he put the glass down on the end table beside him. All at once Shinobu found herself face to face, reflected in his large, luminous dark eyes as he cupped her cheek with his slim fingers.

"Shinobu. Please tell me that I've told you before how beautiful you are."

Her fingers curled against the cool crystal glass as she leaned her chin into his hands. Her dark, chocolate colored hair fell over his fingers as she swallowed her sip of whiskey with a shy edge to her grin. "You've told me a few times—but I do like hearing it again…" 

Shutaro stroked his thumb over her jaw, looking at her with one of his intense expressions. "You're as beautiful as the moon on water, Shinobu. As beautiful as the fields in summer."

Shinobu's face heated up as she nuzzled her face against his thumb. "Shutaro…I…" She squeaked , before she pressed herself closer on impulse. "You've sure got a way with words, ya know." 

"Have I? I feel lost for them when I look at you." His fingers trailed down her jaw and over her neck, sending a ticklish sensation– or something like it– blooming through her.

She let the feeling roll through her—the alcohol making it easier to push back her flustered embarrassment at being so close to her own boyfriend, enough that she let that ticklish warmth pool inside her as she looked into his eyes.

"You make me sound like a greater treasure than even that whiskey, Shutaro," she murmured. "Funny—I'm often at a loss for words when I look at you, too." 

"Then let's abandon words!" The soft edges of his finely manicured nails traced her throat. "Let me be ungentlemanly with you for a moment– only for a moment!"

Shinobu knew she wasn't just flushed anymore—she was vibrant. A vibrant crimson that felt like a glow through her body as her heart skipped a beat. "....ah…ah…"

'Let's abandon words and be ungentlemanly'. The impeccable gentleman Shutaro Mendou was willing to throw that veneer of respectability aside to embrace her, to show her that he didn't think she was plain or forgettable.

She was as beautiful as the moon on water, or the fields in summer—she was a treasure, as much as his dark and shimmering eyes were a treasure in her own heart. He was a gentleman—a refined and respectable man on the surface. But she could bring this part of him out, couldn't she? She would be happy to let him be ungentlemanly—for a fleeting moment or an eternity.

She swallowed thickly, before she nodded. "Please, Shutaro, only for a moment—or as long as you want." 

He didn't wait for her to say any more; didn't need her to say any more. Shutaro pulled her close to him, closer than he ever had, until there seemed to be no more room between their bodies, and he pressed his lips against hers, too, capturing her in a deep kiss that tasted like the same whisky that had precipitated it.

It was closer than she'd ever gotten with him. Even in their moments of hidden intimacy—they hadn't ever gotten close enough to feel one another's bodies quite like this. She snuggled closer, practically in his lap as she parted her lips to deepen the kiss. 

His tongue intruded on her mouth almost immediately, a hungry aggressor. Shutaro hadn't lied when he said he'd abandon 'gentlemanly'-- there was nothing cordial about the kiss he gave her, or where he put his hands.

There was a thrill to it, a tingle through her body the moment his hands made contact with her body. She shivered against him, arching her body and pressing closer as she accepted the aggressive kiss, trying to match it with her own.

It was possessive, wasn't it? Ungentlemanly, a little feral—hot. It was fucking hot.

Drunk and keyed up as she was, it was easy to ignore the little voice in her head as it murmured in distress about what tomorrow would bring. How would she feel about this, breasts pressed to Shutaro's chest and hips against his lap as she kissed him brazenly while drunk on his father's booze, when she sobered up in the morning and realized just how absolutely impolite and improper she'd been? If her parents found out she'd be dead. 

But that was tomorrow, and tomorrow was far away, further it seemed than the moon, when what was close was the heat of Shutaro's body, the press of his lips and the smell of his subtle cologne. 

The ice melted in their forgotten drinks.

Royalty AU

A Fairy Tail, The Legend of Zelda, Urusei Yatsura, and Inuyasha crossover royalty AU for @promptsbytaurie event AUgust 2024 day 28 royalty. This feature my fan children.

On their wagon to the castle of the Oni Kingdom, the pink hair Princess Nasha wearing a purple dress look out the window as her mother siting across from her, Queen Lucy wearing her royal blue dress, said to her daughter, "I understand that you don't like it, honey, but we must arrange a marriage between you and the Oni prince for peace. We don't know if his father, the new ruler of the Oni, would keep the promise of no war that the past king hold, so a marriage would keep war." Nasha was clearly not happy about this plan.

When the wagon arrived and the Dragneel royal family step out, they see another wagons and Natsu said, "Wait, there are other kings marrying off their daughters too?" and Lucy quickly said to her husband, "Natsu, don't said it like that. You are basically talking like we are giving our only daughter away."

Inside the castle, they see princesses and their parents waiting for words on meeting the Oni prince.

The blond hair elf princess, wearing a green and blue dress, introduced herself to Nasha, "I'm Princess Charlotte, princess of Hyrule." The black hair princess wearing red said to Charlotte and Nasha, "My name is Moroha, and I'm here with my cousins Towa and Setsuna."

Soon, the 24 royal families families enter the throne room, which has paintings of war on its walls, and four throne lay before them. Sitting on the tallest thrones to symbol the king and queen sit a green hair woman wearing a yellow and black dress with horns in her hair and a brown hair man wearing a red royal clothes, and sitting on the two smaller thrones are a green hair young man wearing blue and a little girl with brown hair and wearing purple. Lucy whisper to her daughter, "That young man must be the Oni prince." and a servant come forward and said, "Presenting Queen Lum Invader, King Ataru, Prince Kitaro, and Princess Nyoko." Once the royal family stand up, the servant start calling out for the princesses, "Princess Clara of the Ratburg Kingdom with her father King Ratburg." which the king groans to the servant, "That is King Adam Hitaun, you peasant!" as he and his daughter walk before the Oni royal family and they knee before them as the king said, "Your majesty, my daughter Princess Clara is the most beautiful princess in the world and she make your heir the most handsome king. A far call from your look, King Ataru." which Queen Lum cry out, "Hey, don't you talk to my husband like that because he was born from the peasants!" and this cause every royals in the room to cry out in shock, "Born from the peasants!" This cause almost every royals to yell at the king and queen, except for Queen Lucy whose comment to Nasha, "The king is just like your father, Nasha. Maybe this will make this easy." and Queen Zelda said to her daughter Charlotte, "So, the queen is the real power in this kingdom, just like our kingdom of Hyrule. I hope the rest of the council are fine with us away for awhile." Soon, Queen Lucy and Queen Zelda, as well their daughters and husband and four other royal families not yelling at the Oni royal family, see shocks coming from Queen Lum and Natsu qucikly grab his family as he said, "Hit the deck!" and Inuyasha cry out, "Watch it!" as all six families got to the walls as the angry Queen Lum sent a electricity wave onto the other 18 royal families. As those catch in the electricity wave fall to the ground, Queen Lum shout, "GET THOSE JERKS OUT OF MY SIGHT!" and the six remaining royal families watch as the Oni take them off of the throne room and the servant, whose was hiding for safety too, said to Queen Lum, "Your majesty, it would seen that some families are still remaining." and Queen Lum calm down to said, "Ah, I see.... let's continue." King Ataru comment, "We could just make them a harem for Kitaro." and this give a bad thought to the princesses of them being Prince Kitaro, before Queen Lum said to her husband, "No way, darling!"

The servant then said, "Presenting Princess Charlotte of the Hyrule Kingdom and her mother Queen Zelda and her father Sir Link." and Charlotte and her parents step forward.

The Oni servant then said, "Presenting Princess Towa and Setsuna and their cousin Moroha of the Inu Kingdom and Moroha's parents Lady Kagome and Duke Inuyasha." and they come forward before the royal family.

The Oni servant look at the list and he then said, "Oh no." and Queen Lum ask, "What? What is it?" and the servant sigh as he said, "Presenting Princess Yukahime of the Wolf Tribe and her father Chief Koga." and a tough looking man with a wolf come forward with a brown hair young woman with a wolf tail behind him and he said, "Hey, beside setting my daughter Yukahime to marry your son, I'm here to talk about the wolves plans!" Nasha ask Moroha, "What is he talking about?" and Moroha reply, "The wolves plans is a area of land between the borders of the Oni Kingdom and the Inu Kingdom, and there has been a increase of land grab in that territory by both kingdoms."

The servant then said, "Presenting Princess Mary and her mother." and the blond hair princess come forward and Moroha said, "Hey, is that princess from that holy kingdom? I'm surprised that she is still there."

An AU short story.

This AU explores the 'what if' of Grannewt finding Okita earlier and looking after her as she went through human high-school, in her human forme

At the top of a hill just outside the Symphony City high school fence. A figure of a tall feline-like pokemon can sometimes be seen next to an old willow tree, at least according to the students. No student dares to go close to the fence line. Except for one peculiar home-schooled kid. The strange thing is, when the home-schooled kid arrived so did the figure of the mysterious pokemon on the hill. Unfortunately for her, all the other students figured this out too. "She's been nothing but bad news ever since she arrived." "What was her name again. Okeena? Whatever, Johto names are so hard to pronounce anyway" "All I know is she's the kid of the Symphony City Gym leaders!" "Aren't they Psychic types? Can't even be their kid, she looks like a ghost trainer? She's so pale! and don't get me started on those freaky eyes of hers!" The students bicker amongst themselves about the 'scary' kid whenever they're away from ears-range of the teachers, but not out of Okita's. "Dude, just ask her something, she's sounds like a Gastly!" One brazen teen said. 5 of the group begin to approach Okita, whose sitting against the fence line holding a soldering iron and pieces of motherboard. She pretends not to hear them. "Hey, Aren't you the kid of Ai and Amare?" They shout, almost at her, not too her. Okita pretends she can't hear them, she always has earphones in during breaks. One of the students kicks the soldering iron out of her hand, leaving Okita stunned and filled to the brim with anxiety. "He asked you a question!" The bully said. Okita remains still, staring forward not knowing how to handle this. The bully on the other hand picks her up by the collar, to 'ask her again. "Are you the Gym leader's Kid or…" They Gasp in horror, as the strange pokemon from the hill teleports behind the fence, and behind Okita. "WHAT IS THAT THING!" "WHAT A FREAKY POKEMON! LOOKS LIKE A HUMAN WITH POINTY EARS AND A TAIL! LETS GET OUT OF HERE!" The students run as fast as they can, only to realise they're levitating just above the ground. "LET US GO HELP HELP" They scream. Realising that the students cry for help will bring more humans, the large feline-like pokemon drops the kids and vanishes without a trace. "What's wrong! Why are you kids yelling!" The teachers yell, they race over to aid the students all piled up on the ground. "T-T-THAT THING! NEXT TO THE TREE!IT CAME FOR US!" the students all said in unison. The teachers were unimpressed with the commotion, not believing the rumours of the pokemon on the hill. "Can you at least describe it?" one of the teachers asked. "T-T-They had glowing red eyes… Looked like a human crossed with a Persian" "b-but with big pointy ears! and a long thick tail!" At this point, Okita had slowly gotten up and collected her belongings. She looked back towards the willow tree with the breeze slightly pushing her hair in front of her eyes. She couldn't see any pokemon near the tree, but felt comforting a presence, which spooked her slightly. She looked down at her bag as the bell rang, and noticed a bundle of berries had been left. Lum's, Sitrus, and Pechas.

Okay so for those who have been around for awhile y'all remember that one post where I'd said that Kagome and Ataru would probably be besties due to them having supernatural/paranormal love interests???

Well let's make this a bit more comedic. Kagome and Ataru are childhood friends, pretty close and all that jazz when the aliens invade Earth and Kagome seeing it bits and pieces of the game of tag only catches glimpses of her friend Ataru's desperate attempts at trying to catch Lum and she sees that he'd won however Kagome doesn't see the part where Ataru and Lum get accidentally engaged. Fast forward to Kagome's birthday and she falls down the well and ends up reawakening the half demon Inuyasha by accident and ends up having to go on her adventure to get the Shikon jewel shards back. She comes back to her time and finds out that Ataru's been looking for her, worried about her and he has no idea about the feudal time traveling. So here you have Ataru who's now surrounded by aliens and who's engaged to one and Kagome who's surrounded by demons and is in a relationship of sorts with one and neither of them have no idea how to tell the other about their strange life turning events without sounding like they're both batshit nuts so they do the only reasonable thing any teenager would do.

They keep these new little details a secret from one another in the hopes of sparing the other from the absolute insanity that is suddenly their lives. And with this choice comes shenanigans to the highest degree. Like I'm talking like-

Kagome and Ataru hanging out and just vibing and Kagome catches sight of Inuyasha who's just marching his way over towards them, already going for his sword and Kagome in her blind panic shouts:

"SIT BOY-!"

Que Inuyasha falling flat on his face and out of sight while Ataru looks around confused as all hell and startled by Kagome's shout. Kagome brushes his confusion off and reassures him that everything is fine while trying to distract Ataru from seeing the half demon who's currently kissing the ground from the impact of his fall.

Or Ataru invites Kagome to go out for a day of fun and he catches sight of Lum who's zooming towards them, readying her lightening strike and Ataru startled quickly shouts:

"WHAT'S THAT OVER THERE?!?"

Making Kagome turn her head in the opposite direction and missing Lum who shocks Ataru before Ataru yanks her down into a bush or something, out of Kagome's sight when she turns back around confused and baffled when she sees the sparks coming off of Ataru who much like Kagome assures her that everything's fine. This continues on for quite sometime, the two friends barely managing to spare the other from the insanity. Going to great heights to keep their double lives a secret. And then the inevitable happens, the cat is let out of the bag but in the most simple way possible.

They end up running into one another in a store.

Kagome with Inuyasha to get him some ramen for them to share on their next trip into the well and Ataru with Lum to get some snacks to share for one of their dates. The two friends turn into the same aisle and immediately stop dead in their tracks cuz fuck their friend is literally right there and they're with their supernatural/paranormal love interest oh shit. And Kagome and Ataru panic for a brief moment until their gazes land on the other's partner. Kagome noting Lum's horns, fangs and outfit, Ataru noting Inuyasha's fangs, hat and outfit. They both process this and instantly they're both like:

"HEY WAIT A DAMN MINUTE-"

Ryunosuke. Just mostly Ryunosuke, haha. I've never actually found her dad's joke of preventing Ryu from getting what she wants funny and it was more irksome than anything, and it sucked cuz Ryunosuke's great! But what's worse is that she never gets a proper resolution about her feminine wants (even though that was the main point of her character in the first place) and it was just dropped and ignored in the end, so it never felt like her character got a true resolution. I feel like a good way to write Ryu would be to keep the relationship with her dad the same for the most of her story. And then in her last few chapters have them talk out and be in proper understanding for once. Shigeru Chiba, Mr. Fujinami's remake voice actor (and Megane in the old anime), states his view on his character in his character comments:

And the idea of Ryu's dad raising Ryunosuke to be male because he doesn't want her to leave him is a great idea!! I'd make it like that's the true reason why he does it and somehow they're pushed into a corner where he's forced to admit it to Ryu. He has shown to genuinely care at least a little about her (I'm pretty sure he protected her from the boys of class 2-4 that time she lost her chest wrap) despite how he usually acts. So have them reconcile, have Ryunosuke say she'll stay with her dad if he accepts her for who she is and have him accept her feminity as a result and allow her to act and dress the way she wants. Boom! Problem solved, both sides win and Ryu's dad is made more likeable while Ryunosuke's story has a proper conclusion.

RyuNagi. It's still about Ryunosuke, I know lmao. Anyway, I've discussed how I feel about the ship and other stuff about it here (read it if you haven't so what I say about them would make more sense). It's a bit all over the place discussing various stuff about them but I'll just copy-paste the bit where I talk about how it could be done better..

It had so much potential. Nagisa had to be introduced much earlier and they should've had more chapters together. Maybe, they could've made Nagisa and Ryunosuke discuss and bond over their stupid upbringing, maybe Nagisa could feel bad for Ryu, after hearing how much she wants to be a proper woman and how much her dad stopped her from enjoying herself and maybe help her enjoy things that her dad didn't allow her to (Christmas, Chocolates, etc.) and Ryunosuke fully falls for him because of his kindness... Then their romance would've felt even more natural.

I think the RyuNagi growth would take place before Ryunosuke's reconciling with her dad in case you want a timeline and by that time Ryu would properly be into Nagisa so the romance between them still stays, even after her being effeminate.

Introduce Inaba a bit earlier and give him another storyline with Shinobu. I feel like we still don't know much about Inaba and his dynamic with Shinobu entirely and that's like my only issue about Inaba and InaShino really, so have a storyline after they started dating where we can see how they bounce off each other and truly show that they're perfect couple, idk I just want more cute stuff for them, maybe Shinobu stands up for Inaba when the other bunnies bully him, maybe we get to know more about Inaba's interests and hobbies and maybe we can have the gag stuff be silly interactions between them and maybe Ataru (and Lum) spying on them or something idk.

Give great characters who don't have much spotlight what they need. Oyuki is a good example of this since she appears the least among Lum's alien friends. I saw someone online state that Kurama should've been brought back later on, instead of just disappearing, and could've attempted to mate with Tobimaro or Shingo; and I totally agree with it.. For the former, it could worked as an Asuka plotline and could've been a great arc and for the latter, it could be chaotic since Shingo doesn't know how to respect women. These two are the main examples but there may be others..

And that's all that comes to mind now. These are like the major, main ones and there might be others but they're probably incredibly minor or I just forgor about them..

Wyvernz’ Munday Shiny Showcase #1

Heyo. Wyvernz here. I decided to do something fun every munday and that’s showcase my shiny hunting catches throughout every week. I’ve been going pretty hard on the shiny hunting this time around and I figured it’d be fun to show off to ya’ll what I catch through the week. So here’s a summary of what I have caught throughout my time playing Scarlet:

#1: Flamigo

This is the first shiny I caught in the game and it had to be the stupid flamingo... XD

This was a random encounter shiny I found a little while after I beat the game’s story and entered the main game. At that point, I was nowhere near completing the dex(and I wasn’t actively trying to at that time) so that means I found this with the base encounter rate of 1/4096. I’m not a big fan this pokemon and it’s shiny version isn’t much better, being a just different shade shiny, BUT the shade of pink is way more noticeable than most different shade shinies so I do appreciate that

Fun fact: This is the first pokemon I gave a nickname to in this game

#2: Dunsparce -> Dudunsparce

I caught this one during my journey to finish the pokedex when I decided to get around to it. When i was going around catching the past paradoxes, I encountered it in the lower crystal cave region of area zero. Unfortunately, it did not evolve into a three segment, but hey a shiny is a shiny.

#3: Gastly->Haunter->Gengar

This is the second shiny I caught during my journey to complete the pokedex. I found this one in the desert area near cascarrafa. The shiny of the gastly line is unfortunately a different shade shiny. I think only the tongue is really different? Oh well, eventually I’m gonna build up this gengar into the usual special attacker.

#4: Slither Wing This is the first shiny I actively hunted for once I completed the pokedex and got the shiny charm. Slither Wing is probably my fav of the past paradoxes so naturely I really wanted the shiny version. So I looked up shiny hunting methods for Scarlet and Violet and sandwich recipes to get the meal powers I needed. After a good 2 hours or so(and resetting so I don’t burn up precious herba mystica), I found one! Named them Goldiwings since they got goldish wings :3 This slither wing is a max attack and sp. defense set. Might make some changes to the set tho

#5: Smoliv->Dolliv->Arboliva

The next one I shiny hunted was Smoliv. There were no outbreaks at the time I decided to shiny hunt it so i did it the other way and wondered around waiting for to spawn. However, after I got my meal powers and packed up the picnic, I FIND THE DAMN THING NOT EVEN 15 SECONDS AFTER STARTING THE HUNT. Literally spent the rest of the time trying to see if I could find another one(didn’t unfortunately) This one is being built as a bulky sp. attacker with harvest as it’s ability and a lum berry. Really useful in raids with pokemon that spam status moves like Thunder Wave and such.

#6: iron Bundle

Iron Bundle is my fav future paradox and I knew I had to have it shiny, BUT I play on scarlet so I had to get a friend to help me with this. After we finally figured out how to make a sandwich together, we got the necessary meal powers for water types to spawn, but for some reason iron bundle wasn’t spawning too often? It might have been issues with connection, but i dunno. Eventually a shiny did spawn and I caught it with a crit capture quick ball. Also it spawned right next to me after I killed a normal one and it was sleeping. Never woke up and even battled it when it was sleeping XD Also shout out to anyone who gets the reference

#7: Flutter Mane

I wanted to hunt another paradox shiny and I heard flutter mane is really good for certain 7 star event raids so I decided to go after that one. My first attempt was unsuccessful and for some reason they just stopped spawning? It even persisted after resetting too. Eventually I got them to start spawning and got one to spawn. The recipe I used also had title power lv3 for ghost so I ended up with a title on them too! Also yes I named it piss ghost. It’s just a stupid joke name that I’ll probably change eventually lol

#8: Skiddo

This is my most recent shiny acquisition. This is a random encounter shiny I found while trying to hatch a shiny cyndaquil. Found her in the arid rocky area where you fight the Titan Klawf. Not much else to add to this since it was a random encounter, but it is the first one since I got the shiny charm so that’s neat.

I think I’m gonna name her Basil but I’m not sure. Any suggestions?

Current list of shinies that I am either in the process of hunting/hatching or plan to go after in the future: Cyndaquil(currently as mentioned before) The other starters that are available(I still need Scorbunny and one other I think?) The rest of the paradoxes

Ranma episode 8 rambling

First off, it’s been wild rewatching the early eps of Ranma for the first time in 7(???) years while also watching Maison Ikkoku because those early eps have SUCH a similar vibe. I’d remembered em being slower-paced and with extra scenes, but I hadn’t remembered how gentle and moody and romantic they are. I think the manga was pretty similar at the beginning, more focused on the romance and drama than on the fights and comedy, but the vibe is totally different from the rest of the series.

BUT it’s also hilarious how the slow moodiness applies to scenes like the extra(-long) sequences of Ryoga getting lost X’D Makes a goofy 1- or 2-panel running gag suddenly very intense and dramatic.

(Also what a bi legend. Ryoga’s constantly screaming Ranma’s name, immediately handcuffs himself to Ranma, then calls his femme-self “beautiful” knowing full well (for once) that he’s talking to Ranma)

Plus shout out to the Chemistry Club, whose existence and heavy spotlight had me VERY confused (“why are they here? they weren’t in the manga, were they? did they take a 1-panel gag about Ranma stepping on a land mine and turn it into a whole subplot??”) until I realized they were knockoff Lum Stormtroopers XD It doesn’t seem like any of the Stormtrooper actors played em, and the actors weren’t going for exact imitations, but fake-Megane hit some notes in a Chiba-enough way to make me laugh
