Hey, really weird comment but like five years ago I had an obsession with your Ethan Garvin fan art along with the fanfics to the point they're permanently ingraved into my mind and every time I see them it's like a sleep agent is activated in my body.
Anyways I'm talking about it in a Discord group chat with some friends right now, thought you'd like to know.
SHOTSEEKER!!!!! oh my god ethan garvin literally one of the characters of all time. so exciting to have another sleeper agent thank you for reawakening my love for him. desperately want to draw him now, thank you so much for sending me this message i am THRILLED

I’ve been seeing your posts lately, and as a fellow POI fan I must ask what are your top five favorite person of interest episodes? Thanks for reading this you rock!! 😉
1: The Devil You Know
I have Morior Invictus tattooed on my leg. It was the first tattoo I ever got and far from the best I have but I have zero regrets.
Tumblr media
If nothing else I hope I am remembered as a Team Elias fucker first and a human being second.
This episode is my absolute fave because it goes into more detail about Elias and Anthony's relationship and their loyalty to each other (parallel to what John and Finch, and Shaw and Root have going on). It's the first time we're really shown what Anthony is like outside of Hot Sarcastic Henchman, like the way he thinks and why he is how he is, and Elias being willing to risk his own life to save him after, for the majority of the show, being like "I'm better off alone", which is fucking poetic cinema honestly.
Plus Winston Duke and Jamie Hector are FANTASTIC, especially with the lieutenants talking to each other ("someday you might find yourself sitting in a chair that looks a hell of a lot like this one"), and Elias pleading with Dominic.
I really think those two were fucking WASTED in season four, they're both phenomenal actors in their own rights and they should've had better. I have, uh, a couple of fics in both my head and my WIP document about them. But we'll deal with those later
2: If/Then/Else
If/Then/Else is literally one of the best episodes, maybe THE best episode of television ever made. (It's kinda like my favourite v the best type situation, much like with The Thing v In The Mouth of Madness if that makes sense). It's got everything: action, time loops, love confessions, FUSCO
The other three are a little more difficult.
I really enjoy Number Crunch, Flesh and Blood, and Firewall in Season 1. In Season 2 my faves are God Mode, Relevance and Prisoner's Dilemma (Donnelly my love). Season 3 is Lady Killer, The Crossing and The Devil's Share. Season 4 is Pretenders, Asylum and YHWH. Season 5 is 6,741, The Day the World Went Away and Return 0 (with honourable mentions to Sotto Voce and Shotseeker because Elias, and QSO because Scott Adsit my beloved)
If you wanna pick three and ask me what I like about them go ahead but I'm struggling to pick between them haha

Jess Watches // Mon 27 Nov // Day 66 Synopses & Favourite Scenes & Poll
Person of Interest (rewatching with mum) 5x05 ShotSeeker
Reese protects an analyst whose investigation into a software glitch has drawn the attention of Samaritan. They are also threatened by an ally of Elias's, who is looking to avenge his friend's death.
The Machine: 0 Samaritan: 10 Billion (and counting) Who will win? (ง'̀-'́)ง
Workin' Moms (with mum) 1x04 Bad Help
Kate makes a big mistake when she asks her mother to babysit her kids. Anne hires a tough nanny to deal with her misbehaving daughter. Jenny finds comfort in her work.
Apart from Kate I don't actually like the other moms all that much as people, but am intrigued by them as characters. If that makes sense. Half the moms in the group don't seem to want to spend any time with their kids. So why, when it's more socially acceptable to not want kids, do they still choose to have them??
Sex Education 4x08 Episode 8 (Series Finale)
Cavendish rallies to search for Cal. As Eric finds his calling, Jackson discovers his roots. Much like love, truth takes many forms - and it will out.
Everyone having major moments of character growth and acceptance was a wholesome way to end the show. Aimee Gibbs you will be forever in my heart, you weird and lovely lass. And as someone who needs help eating, seeing the casual way she fed Isaac and it not being 'a thing' was representation I didn't know I was missing. Also the group finally learning BSL. Disability rep ftw <3
A Murder at the End of the World 1x03 Survivors
Darby plays the role of the perfect guest in order to covertly investigate the crime. She finds she may be getting closer to the truth when another life is taken.
The woman mentioning she gouged the man who attacked her. Andy having a scar on his neck. Was it him? Lee having sex with Bill 6 years ago. Her son is 5. Is he the dad? A bit too obvious maybe so a possible misdirect. Android baby? What does Lee's neck tattoo say? What does 'red sky' mean?

PoI S5 rewatch 2021, disc 1
I am rewatching PoI S5 with @mimeparadox! BSOD: A strong episode that is hurt by hindsight, in the baggage it carries in from S4's finale, and the way S4's finale and the rest of S5 don't necessarily hold up. That is, a lot of excellent hooks that are very compelling at the time of watch are never properly followed up on, and so become hollow. In particular, BSOD does an excellent job demonstrating the strengths of Reese as a character...which is all entirely divorced from being Detective Riley. In fact, his worst moments in the episode involve him being a dick to Fusco for no good reason, which seems like an outdated characterization of their dynamic (and is basically in service of keeping Fusco further in the dark for no good reason). So, of course, the show will continue to beat the Riley dead horse and keep him away from the AI plot, instead of letting Reese play to his strengths and demonstrate his love languages as he does in this episode. The other detail that foreshadowed the half-assed plotting to come is how Samaritan tries have anyone believe that sniper rifle bullets could come from a handgun. SNAFU: This episode is very good and is not really hurt by hindsight! Because it's almost like a bottle episode, dealing entirely with team relationships. No Samaritan in the A-plot at all. This demonstrates how Samaritan-as-Big-Bad/The-Machine-as-unimpeachably-benevolent hurt the show's writing, compared to if they had dug in deeper on the complexities of if the team disagreed with The Machine's decisions. The other big standout is that we have a moment of a maverick white male cop busting into an innocent teenage black boy's house, chasing him down with gun drawn into his room. NOT A GOOD LOOK. And Reese is also still a dick to Fusco. Is this a writer turnover thing? Like, their relationship really should have turned a corner in S3. And also, we're supposed to believe that Reese was some sort of elite CIA spy when he's this shit at asset cultivation? Truth Be Told: Worst ep of the season? Very possibly so! Clearly the show is trying to replicate the "spies are fucked up" episodes of S1, such as Foe. But there are way too many ideas, and all of them are half-baked. And it's so damning that the Reese storyline has bupkiss to do with the Harold-Root storyline. In S1, what made those episodes work was that there was always a non-spy foil character to highlight how warped the spy mindset is, and to offer an alternative path. I suppose Iris is meant to be that foil in this ep, but given how badly that whole storyline has been from start, of course it flops at the finish. To not be incessant bitching, good parts! The bathroom fight. The steering wheel. Root braining a guy with a present. Bear's slurping noises. Root installing malware on a laptop because YOLO. Keith David's voice. 6741: Hot take time! Parts are greater than the whole, which is tainted by the fact that I no longer have much emotional investment in the team fighting Samaritan, because now I know that they're not going to ever be good at it. I experienced something similar with SPOP, where the Princess Alliance was so infuriatingly incompetent that I couldn't really give a fuck about the plotting anymore, and just enjoyed the fun filler shenanigans when they happened. So with 6741, the scenes of Sarah getting to go one-on-one acting with each of the other cast members were enjoyable, but I don't learn anything new from this ep the way I always do with my favorite eps of PoI. Hence, this episode actually has quite low rewatch value for me. Shotseeker: I like the case of the week parts. Backed by interesting technical research, and the script does try to touch on themes of "trying to play greater good games with cold systems will trade off against empathy for the individual," which is the thesis of the show. The team is shown to be losing because they, ironically, keep treating the people around them as disposable vs. their bigger fights. They do better when they (Fusco and Root, in this ep) act on their emotional investments. Like BSOD, this episode is tainted by the season arc stuff fizzling out. The crime storyline for the season is so, so bad. Despair narratives are very hard to pull off, and doubly hard to pull off for non-protagonists, and PoI is not going to make it happen. In addition, the attempt to make Samaritan inscrutable is a STRETCH, so it's still just a generic murder-happy Big Bad.
