“‘Rather Lose Leg Than Go To Pen,’ Police Quote Him,” Toronto Star. August 7, 1942. Page 2. ---- Richard Dickenson, Shot by Detective, Objected to Having Bullet Removed --- ELECTS JURY TRIAL --- A Police Court, City Hall, Magistrate Gullen Facing charges of having two loaded revolvers, burglar’s tools, theft, and receiving of a motor car and receiving two picks and crowbars, Richard Dickenson elected trial by a jury. He was committed.
Kenneth Green and Sidney Birt, jointly charged, were committed for trial last week.
B. A. Pennock stated his car was stolen from Dovercourt Rd. July 11.
‘Det.-Sergt. Richardson and I were on Landsdowne Ave about midnight July 18,’ testified Det. H. Hodgson. ‘We saw the car that had been reported stolen in a vacant lot. While Det.-Sergt. Richardson was parking the police car, I took up observation on the stolen car. In a few minutes three men approached the car and entered. I recognized Green and Birt, I could not identify the third man.
‘They saw me and ran. I fired one shot. They ran up a lane and got away Green and Birt were picked up shortly afterwards. Searching the car we found the burglar’s tools and loaded revolvers. The revolvers were wrapped in a handkerchief with a laundry mark 103,’ the detective said.
Det.-Sergt. J. Nimmo related visiting the home of Dickenson Aug. 1. ‘I examined his leg and found a wound at the rear of the left leg. Det. Ed Tong and I took him in a hosital and had him examined. They found a bullet in his leg. He refused to have it taken out. I told him that he might lose his leg. He replied that he would rather lose his leg than go to Kingston. Later he admitted that he was wounded about two weeks previously when chased by a police officer,’ Nimmo stated.
Det.-Sergt. Richardson stated he saw accused Aug. 1. ‘The shirt he was wearing had the laundry mark 103 as did a handkerchief he had. This was the number on the handkerchief found in the stolen car,’ witness concluded.
‘This is not a case for probation. You have a record, and stealing from one’s employers is a serious offence. No restitution has been made,’ said the Magistrate in A court, in the case of Clifford W. Clifford, appearing for sentence on a charge of stealing about $200 from a dairy firm.
He was sentenced to four months definite and three months indefinite. Evidence was given at a previous hearing.
In the case of Edward August who pleaded guilty of receiving milk tickets knowing them to have been stolen, his worship said it was a mean thing to do. August was given suspended sentence and put on three months’ probation.
‘I wish to point out accused was in the army and discharged as medically unfit,’ said Crown Attorney Malone.
Detective John Standing related finding seven milk tickets on accused belonging to different dairies. ‘He told me he bought them from a boy,’ said witness.
Ben. SIlver pleaded guilty of recording and registering bets in a house on Harbord St. and was fined $200 or two months and was sentenced to serve 15 days.
‘Entering the place with other officers I found three sheets of paper with bets totalling $950,’ said P.C. John Mullin.

Prompt 338
So the GIW is the Ghost Investigation Ward and not the Ghost Extermination Ward, yes? Hear me out, hm?
See, it’s really hard to study ecto-entities when they’re going all over in and out of the world. Really hard! And of course they aren’t like, sentient, studies for years before the boom in this one town showed this! But, the overgrown not-birds (they’re still debating that) are really hard to watch doing their natural thing when they naturally mimic people around them!
So! They got this idea, right? Their operatives can capture some! They’ve even made enclosures based off of what they currently know! It’s like containing crows, down to the mimicry & puzzle solving just er, with opposable thumbs and intangibility.
And they don’t succeed first tries of course (Wow were said operatives frustrated and maybe cursing a bit that might be a bit violently) but then they get some assistance from the Fentons! Trying to hit an ecto-entities’ wings in a way to not permanently injure them is hard, but the new net canons that a ghost can’t pass through? Perfect!
They have so many specimens now! They even released a few that were very much uncontainable- they rely on technology a bit and that entity kept unlocking all the doors. So catch and release with that one it is!
They even managed to catch the white-haired ghost! In double! Which might not seem that important, but! As they realize during intake & initial examination (wow are they bitey) the two appear to be young! Something their ectobiologists only theorized about but oh are they excited! (Now if only the two would stop trying to escape their enclosure that’d be swell! Look, toys! Foo- oh dear God that baby ecto-entity is melting- Oh few, okay note taken to raise ambient ecto levels in that room dear god that was horrifying and stressful. … Maybe get some feelers out for feeding unstable energy entities…)

Vanessa did a great job as a police officer by:
Neglecting her duties (to hang with Mike and Abby),
Not patrolling/being stationed where she was needed,
Wrongfully threatening to shoot a civilian (not due to legally reasonable reasons),
Protecting and preventing suspects/criminals from facing justice due to favourtism,
Obstructing justice by not turning in her father (child serial killer) and withholding/tampering evidence,
Supplying an untrained/unqualified civilian with police weapons,
Did I mention wrongfully threatening to shoot an unarmed/harmless citizen?
Tasking a civilian to perform police duty in taking down a highly dangerous criminal/suspect,
Refusing to aid a civilian in danger or preventing the danger,
Hesitating to take down her child serial killing father (who also held a knife pointed at her but was happy to threaten Mike because he was endangering his sister??? So you want to shoot Mike for that but your father...nevermind, at least she eventually shot him),
Committing medicine theft or destruction of property and disposing of it improperly. (Prescription medication is a difficult adjustment for your body whether you begin it or stop it as well as being a burden on your finances and she just....threw it).

Ok erm enjoy some alternate timeline crafting @shortiicake and I made up three years ago and just revamped
Long explanation time
Essentially the time traveling duo jumps straight to 301 since regular SnM live out their time in season 2. Sam gets electromagnetic powers via some wacky side effect of time shenanigans and while they gather the toys they react weaker but still work, ultimately being revealed that because Max’s powers are hereditary he still has them dormantly. I have more stuff for 305 but the max clones are basically the split personality max from season one, any discomfort he has from them is less nudity and more unrestrained emotional displays. He’s not a thrall but he has psychic potential Charlie can use

edit: it's all good there was nothing about a shootout on the news 🙏

[MENTION OF SUICIDAL IDEATION, GRAPHIC VIOLENCE]
i also think it could be fun and funky fresh if ian was gone a little longer and mickey eventually couldn't fucking take it anymore and came out at the alibi on his own and like. okay he's fighting back against terry like on the fucking principle of the thing, and a little bit because he really does want to get at least a few good fucking hits in - god he's so fucking angry and he's so fucking angry about being so fucking angry and - but on the other hand. he's by himself, he's like a third of terry's size and only half as vicious, and most importantly he lowkey kind of wants to die at this point anyway.
so. mickey comes out half because he just fucking can't stay in anymore and half for fucking spite - the latter being the main reason he does it publicly. this way terry can't keep it quiet that he's got a queer son. cause you know, unfortunately for terry, a dead fag is still a fag. so fucking there.
terry charges him of course just like in canon, and like in canon (iirc) mickey gets in the first hit. maybe even the first couple. but it's not seconds before terry has mickey down and spitting blood onto the floor. and once mickey's down... well he doesn't stop fighting entirely. he doesn't give up and he doesn't fucking tap out, and he won't let anyone else claim they taught him that, that's all him, it's his fucking nature. but he maybe starts phoning it in a little bit.
and it's. i mean it's brutal. the bar is quiet, because no matter how accustomed to this sort of violence you (think you) are there will always be at least a moment of frozen horror, and it's only worse when there's such a clear imbalance, when you know the guy on the ground is just a kid, when you know the guy kicking him is his dad. so everyone can hear the dull, concussive whap of the back of terry's hand across mickey's face, can almost feel the way it snaps mickey's head to the side so hard he stumbles with the momentum. et cetera.
and it's... it's lip who breaks the dam. he's pissed about it, he doesn't want to be doing this, mickey is the last fucking person he wants to stick his fucking neck out for, but ian fucking loves him. loves him loves him, the real fucking deal, and that makes mickey a piece of him whether anybody fucking likes it or not. and lip will always stick his neck out for ian.
so he curses mickey's name black and blue, and he bitches about how he can't believe he's doing this, and he threatens that he'll never forgive either of them, and he grabs a chair and he swings it right into terry's face.
mickey looks up at him from the floor, bloodied mouth hanging open. bro is flabbergasted dot jpg.
"i draw the line at giving you a hand up," lip says, and that kicks the whole fucking bar into gear.
mandy jumps onto terry's back, screaming like a fucking banshee and wrapping her skinny arms around his neck as tight as she fucking can, probably bites him too by the way he yells. terry's few buddies/sycophants/goons leap up to take his side, only to realize they are wildly outnumbered when the milkovich brothers and uncles take mickey and mandy's. kev calls the police, even though it makes him throw up in his mouth a little. some unaligned bar patrons flee, and most of the upstairs girls do too. some patrons start fighting each other, since there's a fight and all. some settle in for the show, and some just plain don't fucking care.
and mickey gets himself up off the ground, insert non-diagetic punk remix of i'm still standing by elton john here, and wipes his mouth with his hand. he surges forward to twist terry's arm behind his back when he rips mandy off his back, before he can throw her to the ground. she slaps their father in the face with her fingers curled, leaving four bleeding scratches across his cheek. mickey hears lip cuss again, impressed, before the back of terry's head breaks his nose.
and even as blood splurts down his face mickey wonders, dazed and almost giddy with the possibility, if lip backing him up means ian still cares about him. at least a little.

And look, I know I'm focusing on fun fun fun fun fun, but it helped because uh, the things that have come out about Yoon Suk-yeol's coup attempt are frightening and frankly more insane than you can even imagine.

(Just to keep the record straight, the bit about the DPRK uniforms is complicated because it hasn't been confirmed but hasn't been debunked yet either: x. We'll know for sure once the investigation starts.)

"Praises Warden's Bravery," Wichita Beacon. December 12, 1931. Page 1. ---- LEAVENWORTH, KAN., Dec. 12. - (UP) - The bravery of Warden T. B. White "saved my life from the three convicts who kidnaped me," Elizabeth Phillips, 18, married daughter of Joseph Gates, farmer, said today in an exclusive interview with United Press.
The three convicts, who held Warden White captive, entered the Gates home seeking to escape pursuing possemen. They captured the girl and her brothers to use as shields.
Mrs. Phillips said the men told her they were revenue men and that they wanted her to go to a neighbor's house with them.
"I thought the warden was one of the 'revenue officers," she said.
"When we started to leave an army airplane (from Ft. Leavenworth) flew low over the house. The men were frightened and it was then that I was sure they were not federal officers.
"The men took an automobile from four Leavenworth boys and decided to take Warden White, my- self, and my brother along as shields.
"I know you're going to kill me,'" Mrs. Phillips quoted the warden as telling the convicts. "But don't kill these two. They aren't in it at all."
"I jumped out of the car and started to run. Warden White grappled with the men. I heard a shot and turned - Warden White fell.
"The men must have thought they had killed him, because they left.
"I am sure they intended to kill all of us, and only Warden White's bravery saved us."

Remembering the time I was at the park drawing the assassins symbol in the dirt with a stick and a cop walked up to me to ask what I was drawing (probably concerned it was a gang symbol on account of the rise of gang activity on the area) and I proceeded to jump up and excitedly explain assassins creed lore to him and I probably talked his ear off for a solid 20 minutes before he had to go back on patrol

ok but holy shit the snake imagery in deadloch was so fucking GOOD IT WAS SO GOOD
(Spoilers for Deadloch ahead be warned if ur gonna watch it, I encourage you to scroll bc it’s really really good watching it unfold without spoilers)
Margaret Carruthers being represented as a snake (and as the devil at certain points but that’s less of the focus here) throughout the series was so SO good
Like we hear her say early on that the snakes have “taken over” the island (which is why she claims she won’t let anyone on it), then of course Fay and the kids refer to her and her family as Snakes
then as the story is building, the snakes stay a central theme within that storyline. No one can see the graveyard because it’s “been overrun with snakes”, which are an obvious parallel to her and her family colonizing the town. (It’s impossible to get rid of them, they make breeding with their cousins work, etc)
when Abbey is on the island too far up, she appears behind her and tells her not to go there “or else she’ll get bit”, in a really ominous threatening way, which makes sense because *spoiler warning* she fully killed her brother because he wanted to open up the island to the aboriginal people. It sounds like a threat because it is a threat. She is the snake. AND OF COURSE she then dies while trying to dig up her brothers body, because she (a white colonist) didn’t understand the land of wildlife enough to properly deal with the snakes, and so got bitten.
it’s so poetic and terrifying like there’s other stuff too I couldn’t describe all of it
She was also imo the scariest part of the show by far
