Prompt 338
So the GIW is the Ghost Investigation Ward and not the Ghost Extermination Ward, yes? Hear me out, hm?
See, it’s really hard to study ecto-entities when they’re going all over in and out of the world. Really hard! And of course they aren’t like, sentient, studies for years before the boom in this one town showed this! But, the overgrown not-birds (they’re still debating that) are really hard to watch doing their natural thing when they naturally mimic people around them!
So! They got this idea, right? Their operatives can capture some! They’ve even made enclosures based off of what they currently know! It’s like containing crows, down to the mimicry & puzzle solving just er, with opposable thumbs and intangibility.
And they don’t succeed first tries of course (Wow were said operatives frustrated and maybe cursing a bit that might be a bit violently) but then they get some assistance from the Fentons! Trying to hit an ecto-entities’ wings in a way to not permanently injure them is hard, but the new net canons that a ghost can’t pass through? Perfect!
They have so many specimens now! They even released a few that were very much uncontainable- they rely on technology a bit and that entity kept unlocking all the doors. So catch and release with that one it is!
They even managed to catch the white-haired ghost! In double! Which might not seem that important, but! As they realize during intake & initial examination (wow are they bitey) the two appear to be young! Something their ectobiologists only theorized about but oh are they excited! (Now if only the two would stop trying to escape their enclosure that’d be swell! Look, toys! Foo- oh dear God that baby ecto-entity is melting- Oh few, okay note taken to raise ambient ecto levels in that room dear god that was horrifying and stressful. … Maybe get some feelers out for feeding unstable energy entities…)

Ninjago Spirits' AU
Alright, so I know I've posted a couple of images here and there of dinosaurs, specifically with the Ninja/with their colors. I thought doing an actual post would be better overall instead of random blurbs here and there.. so... here we go. (For like the hundredth time - yeah).
Before I start, some credits to the source material that caused this to rot my brain for so long: This AU is HEAVILY inspired by the multi-author book series Spirit Animals and Digimon: Digital Monsters. With some aspects even taken from both to create this AU, I very much recommend checking out the source material that this AU is using!
Now, on to the explanation for this AU- this one will be the main post for it.
The realm of dinosaurs and other prehistoric animals was created by the consequences of the Oni and Dragon war in the First Realm.
This realm, it is the sibling realm to both the Departed Realm and Cursed Realm - albeit it has a weaker connection to the Cursed Realm than it does to the Departed Realm. It is known as the "Realm of Remnants." A sort of afterlife realm that could be entered in by the living or left.
Just like its inhabitants, the Realm of Remnants was made upon the Elemental Essences of Creation and Destruction. How this happened was that the spirit of the Elemental Essence that resided within the deceased Oni and Dragons would be separated by the Ethereal Divide as they attempted to follow their bodies souls to the Departed Realm or Cursed Realm.
As mentioned earlier, all the inhabitants are made of Elemental Essence that has combined to birth them. The animals themselves are either Creation leaning or Destruction leaning much like the bodies the Elemental spirits used to share a soul with.
This realm is also the birthplace or Mala-Wohira, her original home realm.
Much like in the book series Spirit Animals, humans from Ninjago summon spirits saurians/ familiars - its very much imbedded within the culture as at the age of twleve to thirteen, a child will preform a ceremony to summon their lifelong partner. Without them, the child will eventually fall sick from the rest of their life if something isn't done about it.
The Summoning ceremony is odd in its ways. It's very particular on who it responds to and what it doesn't. For example; Shintarins and Cloud Monks can not summon a spirit, nor can the First Realms peoples or Imperians. This is because humans from the realms are different.
Shintarins and Cloud Monks have wings that come in at the ages of 17-18, First Realms peoples are the strongest "human" type, and Imperians.. are a mystery as to why they don't need one. However, the most common speculative theory is that they are surrounded by Dragon Energy for so much of their lives that they don't need a spirit to fill their soul.
As for the other humanoid races out there: Formlings and Ice Fishers are already in touch with the spirits within the Never Realm, so they're fine. Geckles and Munce are similar to First Realms peoples to simply having more physical attributes. (Speed, Strength, Stamina).
Chiman animals simply don't need one. This includes the Serpentine. The Oni and the Dragon do not either - Skeletons and ghosts have already departed, so theirs are fine.
The people who do, however- are the people who reside in Ninjago City, Stiix, Jamanakai, Ignacia, and any village that doesn't have humanoids. This is because as the First Realms peoples so long ago entered the elemental flux that was Ninjago, it began to weaken them to the point they needed a second half to sustain life.
A key difference between Elemental Masters and Non-Elementals is that whereas EM's share their power with the spirits, NE's gain gifts from their familiars. E.g Harumi is able to unleash a roar that can be used as intimidation or distraction, Arin's gives him faster speed and more jump power, Misako is able to feel objects/vibrations in the ground.
And for Elementals: Umber, Skylor's spirit- can absorb EP and output it(this includes Spinjitzu torandos), Karloffs can coat itself in metal just like he can, and the Ninja's can essentially become smaller Dragons due to them blasting it from their mouths predominately.
Humanoids still can take in spirits who are without their original summoner(the bond between the summoner and the spirit has to be broken. This is usually most common via death). These are often referred to as "orphans." So, for example, if Cole were to die, Geo or one of The Finders could take his in.
Albeit, humanoids can also raise wild ones to the point where a bond forms. Wu, Garmadon, and Lloyd are both the biggest outliers for this one, as they grew up with theirs(Garmadon went and got the egg for Lloyd when he was an infant). Another example is Euphrasia, who found hers as a hatchling and took it in post Merge.
Before The Merge, however, the only way somebody could get to the Realm of Remnants was via the Spirit Coves in Ninjago or Dragon. The Realm Crystal never functioned in trying to open it up. This made The Summoning a Ninjago locale thing only- and here's how:
When the Oni invaded Ninjago in one final push to either kill or convince the FSM to join them, he had opened a thinspot to the Realm of Remnants within a cave entrance- and from there "Legendary Beasts" were called forwards to help aid him against the Oni.
These creatures would anchor themselves to Ninjago's continent. The battle ended with there being three to four groups of them for locations across Ninjago. The groups themselves are the Ninjago City's Phantoms, Jamanakai's Wisps, Ignacia's Embers, and Stiix's Echoes. These beasts were entrusted by the FSM himself to keep the balance of Creation and Destruction at peace.
As time went on, much like the First Realms peoples who had crossed over seeking refugee from the war, the Legendary Beasts began to produce plants alloted to them by their lifestyle that would produce a substance called the nectar. It would be the very thing that would pull spirits from the Realm of Remnants and bond them with the humans of Ninjago.
Some of the Legendary Beast would even go on to entwine themselves with human society, becoming "demi-gods" in a way. Or, rather, pillars of power that represented different things. Sea, Land, Sky- Life and Death. Others simply remained forces of nature.

It’s almost time to go back to Tarkir!!! We even got some new art and news. AND!!! They’re emphasizing dragons AND khans!!! A return to my favorite type of Tarkir! 🥳
I’m pretty excited about this bit!
Tumblr media
Looks like we’re gonna get a deep dive on lore! And they said continuing to flesh out, and not revamp so we should be building on existing lore and not just making up new/retconning stuff. Plus having cultural consultants is always the way to go!
Sooooo first art! Looks cool, but I will admit has be a little apprehensive
Tumblr media
Not that it looks bad or anything, but I’m struggling to see it look like Tarkir. The armor on the front left guy looks rad, but I’m not even sure which clan he’s supposed to be from. Lady on the right I’m thinking Silumgar/Sultai. I do see a sand/spirit warrior in the middle, so Dromoka/Abzan there (along with the mammoth riders of course). But anyhow my only apprehension is I see this, and I would probably not have guessed Tarkir right away. Which like, it’s been some years in game since we’ve seen the place and a lot has happened so obviously stuff will change.
Tumblr media
Cool art! Very Jeskai! Not much to say otherwise :D
Tumblr media
Now this one. THIS one.
Ok bottom right kiiiinda looks like Zurgo maybe. Really hard to tell the others. Perhaps our current 5 khans? But these spirit creatures….. dragons…… Ok hear me out, but what if the khans are using the dragon storms (the dragon storms we know are going haywire) to summon their own dragon lords in the color combinations they lost (aka the other 5 color pairs)? I don’t know if the designs perfectly match up but I think it’s a decent working theory. I’m feeling from left to right potentially: red/blue, black/white, black/green, blue/green, and red/white. Admittedly the more I look the less sure I am. The green/blue one is the only one I’m fairly confident in (and even that one I also think could easily be green/black).
But even if this theory holds true, I’m not sure what it would mean. Would they be allies to the khans? Servants/slaves if they brought them into being? Did Ugin give the humanoids this power like he did the ghost fire among other things? Speaking of ghost fire, the start of this spell is a familiar ghostly blue 👀
ALSO speaking of ghost fire!
Those freaking ghost fire treatments!!!!
Tumblr media
GOSH I canNOT WAIT to see that Ugin in foil. I don’t even care what the card does (it clearly has a static ability tho 👀) I want a foil of it. I mean Sarkhan looks cool to xP
speaking of, desparked dragon boy. glad he got home first at least
Not sure what I'm expecting story wise for the set. Gotta imagine rebellion of some sort. I've done my own speculating and wish fulfillment on other posts so I wont add that here. I'm just, excited! Thanks for coming to my ted talk 😅
Tarkir 👀

find the word tag XIII, XIV, XV
I will be combining three tags by @akindofmagictoo @rhyaxxyn and @spacetimewraithwrites but counting it as three, still, because reasons
maybe sorcery friend gave me:
fly (Space Story)
Myr had seen a lot of different sorts of people. He'd seen lots of humans, of course, and half-humans, and meta-humans and humanoids. Well, here he was, the person that was supposed to fly away with him. Was he supposed to just collect him? Would he know?
lace (she stole the night from you)
she comes in quietly, dripping black lace like ink off a letter left out in the rain, and it drags behind her, staining the carpet, the walls;
kick (Trans-dimensional Ghosts)
Caden covered his face with his hands. A now sleeping human, half-asleep ghost and a feisty werecat were seated on his couch and Caden wanted nothing more than to just kick them all out.
call (Ghost Story)
What else do you call half-corporeal visions that don’t know how to either disappear or become real? The newer ghosts were always very adamant about still being alive; the older ones were resigned to perhaps never dying. Violet tried to console them as best she could, but if there was no one left to keep the bargain, she was helpless.
rhyaxxyn which is a dragon name in my head gave me:
pile (Anxiety Story)
Ree caught Aiden's eyes as they all piled into the car and winked. Aiden smiled to himself. He never could have predicted gaining friends so easily and he certainly never could have predicted gaining such strange ones.
mark (Blood series)
“I am going to kill your uncle,” she announces, evoking startled gasps and curious looks from the men around the table.
“That’s nice,” Jin Ling mutters as he fights to not roll his eyes. “I’m sure Hanguang-Jun will absolutely not take retribution on you.”
“No, not that one. He at least knows better than to touch an angry curse mark. It’s his own fault he’s dying and I’m going to let him.”
leap jump
“Kinda freaked me out when she was doing a very poor job of swimming.”
“I was a little disoriented, but I got my bearing back fast enough. You didn’t have to jump in after me.”
tearing (from Shots)
A guy fell out of a first-story window and stared at them for a second before tearing off down the alley.
timespace ghost friend gave me:
bland (Anxiety Story)
"You okay?" Wes asked blandly, handing Ree another tissue.
"Yep," Ree wheezed, coughing one more as she disposed of her tissues and took a slower, smoother sip of tea. "I'm fine."
memory (Blood series)
He might store the memory away for use at a later time, but not just now. He had some sense of propriety, after all.
cross (Anxiety Story)
He pulled away reluctantly and sat down on the bed, rubbing at his wrists. Ree sat down next to him, pulling up her legs so she sat cross-legged on the rumpled sheets. "Okay. Tell me how your day went."
"It was awful. I don't want to talk about it."
fate destiny (Space Story)
"You just know? Come with you where? Where are you gonna take me? You gonna tell me I have some interstellar destiny?" The boy sounded like he didn't believe a word he was saying.
escape (Anxiety Story)
"Crying is your escape, Aiden. You shouldn't turn it off right away. And just because you have someone there for you doesn't mean that Ree can just reach inside you and set all to rights. It's okay to still cry.”
that wasn’t too long, was it? thank you for making me search through all five of my scrivener docs and my blog for that piece of prose to find all these words. I’m not even being sarcastic. I have a special sword for that. yeah, the joke’s still going. I don’t know why. @mmoonflower @halcionic @pamsdrabbles and @winnieleighwrites please to find beautiful, remember, lie, hunger and spent

Tumblr media
[3 December, 233 Before Age. Nagaoka.]
Luffa had become the Legendary Super Saiyan at the age of nineteen, after being captured and tortured for months by merciless alien enemy. At the time, the transformation was a mixed blessing for her, giving her the power to take revenge upon her tormentors, but also changing her into something she neither knew nor understood. At first, Luffa feared her new ability, and even after she accepted it as a natural function of Saiyan biology, she worried about what might happen if she lost control of such immense power. For this reason, she resolved to never again transform into the Oozaru form, in case the combination of the two transformations might be more than her body could handle.
Unlike the Super Saiyan transformation, which was so rare that it had been nearly forgotten, any Saiyan could become an Oozaru. All they needed was the tail they were born with, and the light of a full moon. Somehow, sunlight reflected off a lunar surface had just the right wavelength to trigger a horrific change in a Saiyan's body, turning their humanoid forms into enormous, bloodthirsty apes. There were myths and folk tales, and even some genuine scientific research on the phenomenon, but all anyone knew for certain was that the transformation was real. The moonlight had to be above a certain intensity to work, but that seemed to be the only criteria. And so, whenever she went to a planet with a large enough moon, Luffa always took the precaution of checking the local calendar and wearing sunglasses when needed.
Over time, as Luffa grew accustomed to being the Legendary Super Saiyan, she mostly forgot about the Oozaru power. Many Saiyans did the same, even going so far as to deliberately cut off their own tails to avoid the inconvenience of an unwanted transformation. Weaker Saiyans couldn't even retain their identity in the giant ape form, so they didn't want the hassle of losing control of their actions without warning. For stronger Saiyans, the giant ape form had certain tactical advantages, except that it could only be achieved once in a lunar cycle. Come the dawn, the power would be lost. Most Saiyans considered it more trouble than it was worth. In Luffa's case, she had to deal with the additional concern that the extreme power increase might tear her body apart.
But now, on Planet Nagaoka, deep inside enemy territory, bereft of all allies, friends and family, and with nothing left to live for but a vendetta against her own species, Luffa didn't care about any of the drawbacks. She now stood as a Super Saiyan and an Oozaru at the same time, a form that looked like a 150-foot giant ape with glowing golden fur. Nagaoka's moon was full, and would sustain this new form for another ten hours before morning, when the moonlight would became diluted by the sunrise. But ten hours was more than enough time to tear the entire planet to pieces. And if the strain of it killed her before then, it wouldn't matter.
She roared and beat her chest for a moment, furious at her enemies, and grateful for the glorious violence she was about to unleash upon them.
"You can't do this!" Rehval protested. His true self was on the opposite side of the planet, but he had sent his proxy, an avatar made of earth and stone, to lead his followers into battle. The rock-Rehval was actually a little bigger than Luffa, but its slender form paled in comparison to her splendor.
"I just did," Luffa growled. Her voice was lower, louder, and more primal than before, but there was no mistaking her identity. Unlike lesser Saiyans, who couldn't control themselves in the giant ape form, Luffa was in full command of her faculties.
"But the power is unstable!" Rehval said. "I can sense it from here! I never expected you to actually try to-- No... No...!"
"Yes!" Luffa snarled. "You were the one who gave me the idea, Rehval! You and your constant gloating! Always going on about how you had tapped into the energy fields of this star system. You married your power with this planet, didn't you? Which means you need its moon to keep that arrangement in tact. Too bad. Otherwise, you could destroy the moon right now, and then I'd change back to normal!"
"I don't have to destroy the moon!" Rehval shouted. "Not when I can destroy your tail!"
"Oh, that's your solution to everything, isn't it?" Luffa scoffed. She reached out her left hand, and curled the fingers of her simian paw, beckoning him to come after her. "Well, come on! let's see you try it!"
Rehval commanded his warriors to attack, and they did, only hesitating slightly. There were thousands of them, but Luffa stood her ground. She reared back and howled, then took a deep breath, and spewed what looked like yellow fire from her muzzle.
The Saiyans flew away from the path of this attack, but instead of exploding or damaging anything, the energy formed a massive globe in the air, which separated into white blobs. There were dozens of them, twisting and contorting in mid-air, and then they all sprouted arms, and heads... the heads of ferocious apes.
As the Saiyans quailed in terror, Luffa howled with laughter. It was a childish prank, at least when this sort of technique was employed by a normal Saiyan. The "ghosts" produced by such ki would explode on contact, but when the ki was that of a Golden Oozaru...
"Everybody dies!" shrieked the ghost apes as they flew out in every direction. Their task was simple: chase down a Saiyan and explode in their faces. They swarmed across the basin in a frenzy, and their quarry scattered in a desperate attempt to escape them. Within seconds, the skies lit up and the ground quaked from massive explosions. Even Luffa was amazed by the power she had unleashed. An ordinary planet would have been rendered uninhabitable by just one of these explosions. But Rehval's powers had made Nagaoka much sturdier than any normal world, and so the devastation was merely catastrophic. The crust of the planet was scarred with craters and fissures larger than entire cities, and hundreds of Saiyans were wiped out without a trace. The explosions were so bright that it almost seemed like daylight for a few seconds at a time, but the full moon continued to shine down over the carnage.
Against this backdrop, Luffa charged straight for the enormous likeness of Rehval, tackling it to the ground. That it was larger in size than the golden ape made no difference. At best, the earthen creature could only bring up its arms to protect itself from some of Luffa's thunderous blows. Nevertheless, she persisted, drumming her massive forearms down on Rehval's, and chipping away fragments of his avatar with each second. Rehval's power allowed the dirt and rock to be more durable than either Rehval or Nagaoka would have been alone, but even so, Luffa's onslaught was too much for it to handle.
"You can't be doing this!" he said. "It just can't..." And then one of his giant arms crumbled into rubble. Then the other.
Luffa raised her head up and roared, then slammed her monstrous face into the avatar's exposed chest. As the rock-Rehval screamed, it broke apart into pieces.
*******
On the opposite side of the planet, Rehval... the part of him that was still a Saiyan man, sat upon his throne, and clutched painfully at his chest. That had hurt. It had actually hurt. This was not supposed to happen. His bond with the planet and its mass was only supposed to share power, not pain.
He stumbled out of his seat and paced around in a tight circle, fighting the wave of panic that accompanied the pain. He couldn't retreat from this. With his avatar destroyed, Luffa would surely turn her fury against his followers, and he couldn't afford to lose more of them than he already had. He needed to pull himself together and deploy his avatar again, only this time with more power, but he soon found he couldn't do it as quickly as he had before. His symbiosis with Nagaoka's geological energy gave him vast power. A Saiyan could easily destroy a planet, but only because a planet lacked the will to defend itself. Nagaoka now had a will--Rehval's--but it still took time and effort to bring its immense power to bear.
"Damn it all," he muttered to himself as he gasped for breath. "She was waiting for this! Past two weeks... she was just biding time... None of her attacks were meant to accomplish anything! She was just keeping us busy until the moon was full!"
And then he sensed another pain, this time in his right shoulder blade. It felt like something had struck him, but how?
*******
At the battlefield, Luffa had completely routed her foes. With her ghost apes all destroyed, and the Saiyans in full retreat, she charged a Gallick Gun and fired it in the direction of some of her enemies. Most of them managed to avoid the gigantic purple blast, but it continued on its path, eventually carving a mile-wide trench in the ground. Luffa continued to attack, even when there was no target to hit. There was simply no respite. The Saiyans would sense a ki larger than anything they had ever imagined possible, and then they would immediately sense an even larger power than that. Luffa's battle power just kept rising, again and again and again.
Endive had led a small group to a safe distance-- if the word "safe" could still have any meaning-- and they watched the colored lights from Luffa's rampage. It was apparent that the Golden Ape's attacks were damaging the planet's surface, in spite of Rehval's boasts that this was impossible. At best, his followers believed that this was the ultimate test of their master's power. If Rehval could survive this battle, then he would truly prove his invincibility. His most faithful servants would trust him to rise to the occasion and slay Luffa as final confirmation of his teachings. Endive thought this way, or at least she wanted to, very badly.
Her faith in Rehval was rooted in denialism. She had obeyed him, even to the point of humiliating herself and betraying her most cherished principles. If he were truly divine, then she could at least tell herself that it was all worth it, that the things she had cast aside had never had any real value in the first place. But if Rehval lost, then it had all been a lie, and she would know for certain that she had allowed herself to be enslaved by a fraud. All those nights in his bedchamber would have no spiritual purpose at all.
On some level, she wanted Luffa to prevail, and expose the truth that Endive already knew but could never admit. And then Luffa would kill his followers in short order, so at least there would be little time for Endive to endure the shame.
"What should we do?" asked one of the other Saiyans who was with her. Of this group of survivors, she had the highest rank. And it was this authority, more than loyalty, truth, or shame, that guided her.
"Regroup," she said. "We must stand and fight for our lord, and die, if we must."
If there was any chance of victory, Endive would cling to it. Whatever Luffa stood for, the golden ape would only bring death. If her master really was a fraud and a liar, then Endive's only choice was to fight to make his lies into truth.
*******
Other Saiyans reached the same grim conclusion as Endive, but taking the fight to Luffa was easier said than done. Before, there had been a reasonable assumption that Luffa could be attacked en masse and overpowered. Now, she shrugged off ki blasts from hundreds of Saiyans without even bothering to dodge. The Jindan cultists were the mightiest of their species, empowered by Rehval's alchemy, but against the Golden Oozaru they were like ants battling a dinosaur.
Occasionally, Luffa grew annoyed with their constant distraction, and swatted them aside, but the focus of her offense was directed at the planet itself. Luffa fired energy blasts from her mouth, hands, and eyes, assaulting the ground until there was only bare rock. And then, finally, she broke through to a magma chamber, releasing a torrent of molten lava into the air. Elated by the destruction, Luffa threw her arms over her head and roared triumphantly, the hot magma splashing around her like blood from a wounded animal.
"No! I won't allow this!"
Luffa turned to find Rehval, in the form of another of his avatars. This time, he rose up from the lava itself, forming a body of rapidly cooling igneous rock. "You're not strong enough to destroy this planet! You can't be!"
He leaped toward Luffa, determined to restrain her somehow. Instead, she slipped around him with a speed that belied her bulk, and struck his back with a double axehandle.
"Too bad," Luffa growled. "You shouldn't have cut off your tail, Rehval. Maybe if you'd kept it, you could have become powerful enough to keep up with me!"
"Shut up!" he screamed.
"Some of the Free Companions still have their tails, right?" Luffa asked. "You probably couldn't *wait* to cut theirs off, but you wouldn't have had the time. Maybe some of them could-- oh, that's right!"
He charged at her with a ki blast in hand, but she sidestepped it and reversed his attack into a throw. His blast misfired, and while it was immense, it was also passed harmlessly into space. Luffa ripped a piece of the planet's crust and slammed it down onto Rehva's avatar.
"You don't have any of those Free Companions sitting around, do you?" she said. "The ones who still had their tails, I mean. No, they're all dead, because I made sure to kill them all while I was waiting for the full moon!"
"SHUT UP!" Rehval screamed. He rushed at her again, desperate to connect with any sort of offense. "I won't be defeated this way! Not by your tail, not by a primitive... vulgar... transformation. Not by my own moon!"
Luffa humored him for a moment, allowing his fists to strike, but they did no damage at all. She lifted his avatar over her head and threw him down into the geyser of lava nearby. Then she aimed her finger at him and made a low, guttural noise.
*******
The Vengeance Cannon was Luffa's finishing move. In terms of technique, it wasn't terribly special. She simply focused a a great deal of ki energy into a thin, intense beam, which allowed it to penetrate deeper than more conventional ki attacks. Her name for the attack had been chosen at a whim. At the height of her fame, alien fans somehow decided that she already had a technique by that name in her arsenal, and so she decided to indulge them. Over time, she came to decide that she rather liked its brutal simplicity. What made the attack so fearsome was the user. Powered by Luffa's Super Saiyan form, the Vengeance Cannon could tear through nearly anything. Powered by Luffa's Super Saiyan Oozaru form, the word "nearly" was placed in grave jeopardy.
In his fortress, Rehval felt searing pain once more. He had felt each attack Luffa had made on the planet's crust, but this paled in comparison to the sensation of Luffa's Vengeance Cannon drilling through his avatar's eye. He clutched at his own face and doubled over in pain, and then he felt another agony in his torso. Without seeing or hearing, he knew that Luffa's beam had passed through the avatar, and down into the ground, and all the way through the planet itself. The damage to the planet was echoed in his own body.
His defenses were collapsing. There was no escaping the conclusion anymore. Each attack weakened him a little more, making her next attack that much more effective.
There was no longer any other choice. He would have to go on the offensive while he still had the chance. He forced himself to stand upright, then hurried to the bench where he kept his elixirs. He had prepared certain formulations in advance, in case things didn't work the way they were supposed to. But these were experimental, and meant to be used on others. He had never anticipated that he would be so badly pressured, especially here, at the height of his greatness. As he raised the decanter to his lips, he briefly considered summoning one of his followers back to the complex, but a shooting pain in his leg reminded him that there simply wasn't time.
"T-to the future," he gasped before drinking. It was his traditional toast when using alchemy to enhance his powers. After draining half of the bottle, he poured the rest onto the ground, letting it soak into the soil at his feet. Then he stumbled toward his bedchamber to lay down.
He collapsed after five paces.
*******
Xibuyas saw his chance and was determined to take it. Less than a mile away, the monster that claimed to be his mother was ripping up whole chunks of the planet's surface, while lashing out at any warriors who dared to interfere. They were like mere insects to her, beneath her notice. And this, he decided, would be her downfall. With her back to him, he had a perfect shot to end this nightmare once and for all.
He had never used the Star Seax in battle before. The technique was incomplete and took too long to gather energy, and it was only useful against a single opponent at a time. There was simply no practical use for it. Other enemies could be killed with less powerful techniques. He estimated that the Star Seax could kill Luffa, but he knew she was too nimble to score a direct hit with it.
Now, however, the situation was ideal. Luffa had become stronger--stronger than Xibuyas had ever imagined possible-- but she was also a much bigger target, and much more stationary. And with her attention focused elsewhere, he had the opportunity he had dreamed of for most of his life. As soon as he had finished preparing the attack, he fired without hesitation.
The Star Seax was a thin wafer of ki that flew out from his hands like the blade of a guillotine. It would cut right through Luffa's tail, reversing her transformation. It was strange to think of the humanoid Luffa as an easier opponent, but right now she was surrounded by Jindan cultists, and without her ape form, they could overpower her if they all worked together.
As the young Saiyan guided the Star Seax toward its target, he realized that this was the moment that fortuneteller had told him about! He would surpass Luffa, not by exceeding her power, but by becoming the instrument of her downfall. Once she was dead, he would take his rightful place as the strongest Saiyan of all! He watched as the white energy blade streaked ever closer, and awaited his destiny.
And then Luffa jumped into the air, and the Star Seax passed harmlessly underneath her.
"No..." was all he could say. His eyes went wide with shock. And so, when Luffa moved towards him, faster than he ever imagined possible, he had no other reaction. He didn't even think of trying to escape.
"Nice shot, Katem!" Luffa roared. Her voice was even more horrible than before. With a demonic speed, she snatched him up in her hand and raised him up to her face.
"You were going to die anyway!" she shouted, her hot breath blasting him like a monsoon. "But you had to take your best shot, and face me one last time! So I guess you take after your mother after all! Too bad for you that you chose the wrong side!"
She tightened her grip, and Xibuyas cried out in pain. He could feel his ribs cracking under the pressure, and he knew that this was only the slightest sample of Luffa's full power.
"Then again, you remind me a lot of your grandfather, boy!" she snarled. "He made the same mistake you did. Thought he could stab me in the back and live! Well don't say I didn't give you a chance, son! I tried to show you what you were dealing with, and you wouldn't! Take! The hint!"
Xibuyas felt as if he might black out soon, but somehow he remained conscious. He almost wondered if this was some sadistic trick of Luffa's. A way to keep her victims awake and prolong their suffering. He couldn't stop screaming long enough to ask.
"Well that little stunt you just pulled was the last straw, Katem. You want to be my enemy? Fine! Then you can die like my enemies! Anything for you, son! Anything for you!"
There was a moment of clarity, where Xibuyas began to accept death as the only escape from his fate beneath the long shadow of Luffa, this horror that demanded his birthright. Even if he had managed to kill her, the memory of such a monster would forever stain his honor. And then, just as he expected to breathe his last... Luffa dropped him.
Xibuyas lacked the strength to sit up, but luckily he landed on the ground in a position that gave him a view of what was happening. It felt like an earthquake, and as Luffa turned away from him, Xibuyas could see a figure rising up from the molten lava. He wondered if it was Rehval again, returning in another one of his avatars. But this seemed different somehow. Xibuyas didn't know why, but he could sense something dreadful about this. His instincts begged him to run away, far away, but it was all he could do just to roll over on the ground.
"I forbid it, Luffa!" It was Rehval's voice that Xibuyas heard. What he saw looked nothing like the Saiyan King who had raised him. It was enormous and yellow-hot, like molten metal, with globs of lava solidifying upon its surface. The head of the figure resembled a skull with skin stretched across its features, but no muscle or flesh.
"Well, look who decided to fight back!" Luffa scoffed. Xibuyas couldn't believe her tone. He could scarcely comprehend the horrible energy he sensed from this new form Rehval had taken. All he knew for certain was that Rehval was now pulling out all the stops, and Luffa was still unimpressed. Was she bluffing? Or was all of this truly just a game to a monster like her?
"You're a thing of iron, Luffa!" Rehval announced. "Strong and resilient, but vulgar nonetheless! You golden glow is nothing more than the heat of the forge, where mine is drawn from the very core of the world!"
The Rehval-thing rushed toward Luffa, and the two titans struggled against each other. At first, it seemed like an even struggle, and then Rehval actually shoved the ape off her feet! She responded with a furious blast from her mouth, which spilled across Rehval's body harmlessly.
As they fought, Rehval continued to rave, shouting one final lecture before one of them was destroyed. "The universe teaches men to prize gold. The heavier elements only form in the dying ages of a star's lifespan. Iron is common because red giants fuse it in vain, generating less energy than the cost of the reaction! Gold is formed near the end, but only some, interspersed with so many others! Supernovae spread it across creation! It accumulates in meteors, which crash onto newly born planets, still hot with the fires of genesis! The gold and other heavy metals sink into the mantle, until eventually the planet cools enough. The crust forms, and when meteors impact afterward, they leave deposits of gold, but only in trace amounts! Man finds it in streams, and the purity of it entices him to seek out its truth!"
"That truth lies in the center!" Rehval screamed. "I have concentrated the gold from the interior of Nagaoka! This is the purest, most perfect expression of the bond between myself and this world! You mock me for cutting off my tail, Luffa? Well now I've cut off my entire body to become your better! I do it gladly, for the good of the Saiyan race! For the good of the future! For everything that you are not!
"We're better than you, Luffa! The Saiyans have evolved beyond your brand of thoughtless violence and selfish independence! Beyond the hypocrisy of compassion and honor! Gold needs no such bonds! It dwells among the lesser matter, but remains apart, and always supreme! And I alone know how to teach those lessons to the Saiyan people! I am the master of our destiny! It must be me! And it will be me, for ever and for ever!"
He had been punching Luffa repeatedly with his fists, which now seemed to be made of gold, now that they had cooled off somewhat. Xibuyas understood none of it, but he supposed that what Rehval said must have been true enough if he was winning. And then he heard laughter...
"You really are something, Rehval," Luffa said. "You put everything you had into that."
The gold-Rehval hesitated as she pushed back against him. She slammed her own fists into his gilded body and broke most of the dross off of him. There were dents left in his body from each strike she made.
"You really did it, didn't you?" she asked. "I can sense your power, I can tell it's you, Rehval, but there's nothing Saiyan in there anymore. You really did merge yourself with the planet, didn't you? And that's why you lose."
She struck him again and again, much the same way he had battered her. Each blow sounded like a bomb going off overhead. The difference was that when Luffa took a hit, her body was bruised or bloodied, at worst. Whenever Rehval was struck, his metal body was deformed by each impact.
"I don't get all the details of what you've done to yourself," she roared. "I don't much care, but I've fought enough weird enemies to learn how to figure out what I need to know. You can reshape that body of yours. Add mass to it, pull it back together, or even make a new one if you need to."
She put her hands together and blindsided him with a double-axhandle that twisted his torso into a right angle.
"But you need power to do that stuff, and right now, you're using all the power you have to match my strength. You can't fight me and defend yourself at the same time. Arrrghhh!"
Rehval had contorted his left arm into what looked like an enormous length of wire, and drove the end into Luffa's shoulder like a spear.
"I'm not the only one who's let their guard down, Luffa!" Rehval cried.
"Cute," Luffa said. She reached for her shoulder, as if to pull out the offending object, but instead she pointed at the ground and fired a ki blast. The resulting explosion engulfed them both, and flung Xibuyas through the air like a rag doll.
As the youth tumbled through the air, he marveled at the sheer chaos that surrounded him in all directions. Luffa and Rehval's combined power was so intense that it was difficult to notice anything else. Around him, the ground was cracked and pulverized like the surface of a giant lump of burning charcoal. Orange light shone through the cracks, like open wounds on the back of some impossibly large creature. Xibuyas couldn't sense his Saiyan comrades, but he could hear their terrified screams, and he could smell the familiar odor of death.
In that moment, Xibuyas knew that he ought to be afraid, but he was too overwhelmed by the situation to really feel anything. He seemed like a helpless observer, a passenger in his own body.
When he finally hit the ground, the pain of the impact was almost a relief, since it confirmed that there was at least still a planet left to land upon. As he lost consciousness, he wondered whether he would ever wake up again.

Okay here’s the whole entire text of my original pokemon gen concept under a cut (sorry if that screws you up on mobile)
Tumblr media
I’ve only ever sketched a tiny number of these (like my fly ideas here), but I can see most of them in my head pretty clearly and might sketch more of them by request someday. I originally set my fan-region in Florida, a place I hated living but still had a lot of interesting characteristics. This changed over once I moved to Oregon, and the thing about Oregon is that it has desert, forest, swamp, coastline and frozen mountaintops that are all pretty vast, ancient and in places relatively untouched compared to the rest of North America. This is not only a perfect setting for some really wild pokemon, but makes a believable choice because our Pacific Northwest is pretty popular in Japan.
The different biomes of this region have "deep" areas where the pokemon change. Some also have "polluted" areas. The region is environmentally themed and heavily deals with human interference on the natural world.
The villains are Team Bio, genetic engineerers lead by a mysterious old woman who narrowly survived the original Mewtwo experiment. Her underlings all use "mutant" pokemon, and she seeks to create a new species of hyper-intelligent, pure-hearted pokemon that will replace humans entirely. Along the way is a strange increase in reports of interstellar pokemon activity... I actually tried hard to minimize how many pokemon in this are just “my kind” of concept, but I think I failed pretty hard. It probably does feel like it leans a little more towards Mortasheen than something Pokemon would actually make, but for basically every pokemon that’s one of my “dream concepts” or “most wanted” I tried to come up with one that I thought would appeal more to somebody else’s taste than mine.
THE STARTERS
Grass Starter: a grass "lumberjack" pterosaur with an axe for a beak. Second stage has more saw-like beak, final stage is a grass/steel quetzalcoatlus (the pterosaur) with a beak and crest forming a chainsaw, no longer flies
Fire type calf whose black cow marks are actually soot. Evolves into cow with craggy black “helmet” and horns of charcoal. Final stage a charcoal-armored minotaur like fire/ground type.
Water Starter is a beady-eyed water shrew with big webbed flipper feet, known to steal shiny objects. Second stage more humanoid, said to dive for treasure. Final stage is water/dark lanky, stripey shrew with a black mask, said to rob boats like a “highwayman” of the river.
Meadows and forest:
Normal type mammal is a spherical porcupine, like a chestnut. Rubs its spines with noxious fruit juices, giving it a multicolored look. Evolved form is a colorful “punk” porcupine.
Early bug is a sticklike inchworm Evolves to cocoon resembling a wooden log on top. Final form is bipedal stick mimic grasshopper, evocative of a cute wooden puppet with a pointed nose.
Basic bird is a hummingbird Evolves to be four-winged and legless, never lands in its whole life. Final hummingbird is a fierce looking hunter that drains energy from grass types like a predator.
Grass type walking bud creature, looks nervous. Evolves to grass/flying orchid-like angelic flower. Alternate evolution is wilted, grey, grass/ghost goth orchid with tattered petals, cute but sad. (evolves this way if it levels up after a battle in which it sustained super-effective damage)
Ground type earthworm sticking out of dirt, cute flower-shaped head. Evolved worm looks like shark sticking out of the dirt, nose looks like its prevo
Electric/dark pikachu-like packrat holding a large coin. Electrically charges its treasure as a booby trap. Actually said to be employed as underlings by the water-type shrew starter.
MISCELLANY:
Bug/poison type grub with fangs. Only encountered in garbage cans. Evolves into a fly pupa Final stage is a gloomy looking, drooling anthropomorphic fly.
Single stage bug/fairy type: a beautiful Maleficent-looking parasitoid wasp. Evolves from any cocoon/pupa pokemon if they're holding a "suspicious egg" item.
Ocean
Water/grass nudibranch with flower on its back. Evolves to a glaucus, each "arm" a colorful flower that absorbs sunlight as it floats.
Water type fish that "sails" on the sea's surface with its fins. Sleepy looking stingray evolution. Final form is water/dragon deep sea fish, combines some traits of anglerfish and viperfish with eyes on stalks. Only evolves from stingray when you're in the sea trench.
Water/flying marlin with huge, dazzling butterfly like fins.
Water type baby dolphin, fuzzy like a seal pup, only evolves if it has fainted more times than the number of its current level. Evolved form is water/dark, shaggy-furred, fierce looking, battle scarred dolphin with legs instead of flippers, a throwback to the doglike ancestors of delphinidae.
Polluted inlet
Water/poison oil slick with two tentacles and beady white eyes, signature ability changes it to water/fire type if it uses a fire move. Evolved form is an oil slick rising into a cartoon octopus with x's for pupils.
Water/steel fish hook with tiny head and eyes, like a barbed metal worm. Water/steel fishing jig, googly eyes and everything.
Barren Island - just a very big rock in the middle of the inlet
Ghost/poison: a greenish "dodo bird" with a face like a biohazard mask, the ghost of a species that went exinct due to sickness.
Sea Trench
Water/fire bristleworm "snake" Water/fire tube worm "dragon"
Water/ghost wailord skeleton draped in pink fuzz and a garden of one-eyed bone worms.
Swamp
Electric/flying bird resembling a lightbulb kiwi. Evolved form resembling a neon light lawn flamingo.
Grass/fairy giant sloth with sleepy face, completely covered in shaggy moss with various flowers and mushrooms. Protector of the swamp, able to control plant life.
Grass/psychic sundew, just a pair of sundew leaves atop a sleepy looking oddish-esque bulb. Evolved sundew is mostly a big circular sundew rosette, but a humanoid flower rotates in the center like a music box to lure prey.
Water/fighting borzoi pup with long legs, acts like a water strider. Evolved form is an elongated, elegant borzoi "ballerina" that dances atop water
Water/ground red leech slightly evocative of a vacuum cleaner. A healer that sucks poison from the body instead of blood. May mysteriously appear in your team after walking through swamp water.
Deep Forest:
Grass/ground banana slug with colorful mold spots, learns spore. Evolves into mold splotched, brown banana peel creature, more like a big squid.
Grass/dark autumn leaf in the shape of a bat, has levitate. Evolved form redder, bigger "vampire cape" leaf-bat.
Psychic/ghost cheshire cat with Meowth-like proportions, bright crescent smile. Evolved form just huge smile and cat eyes hovering in the air, beastly cat body fading into view only for physical attacks or when struck.
Rock type humanoid made of transparent amber with a strange mayfly-like bug sleeping inside. Outer body can "break" at low HP and release faster, more offensive pure bug form.
Rock: incredibly huge, stony looking moose with long white fur draped over its eyes and back. Comes in size variations like Pumpkaboo line and said to never stop growing. A truly titanic one is used as transportation through the deep forest.
Snowy patches
Bug/ice velvet worm that spews a freezing liquid. Silly looking, almost like wiggler from mario.
Ice/flying fluffy white bird resembling a tiny Japanese style snowman. Evolves to resemble western style snowman with clawed bird feet, pointed beak nose. A flightless pure ice mountain dweller.
Electric/ice with levitate: a crystalline "UFO" sky-jellyfish with many colorful lights, core body looks like a cute pikmin-esque "alien" inside. Catch by fishing off of ledges into the sky. Mistaken by locals for alien activity.
Lava Tube Caves
Psychic type bipedal pink salamander with no eyes. Evolves into beautiful milotic-like psychic/dragon blind olm.
Rock/fighting spearhead with feet, eyes are just round holes through blade. Evolves to gain a stick-figure sort of body.
Abandoned town
Normal/bug filthy dog, a shaggy pile of fur with goofy eyes and pink tongue. Little black specks jump about it. Ability changes normal moves to bug moves. Evolved form more obviously a dog but still very shaggy, surrounded by constant cloud of black specks.
Grass/electric "christmas tree" made of holly and lights. Found in a burned down house, glowing eyes peer out from beneath it.
Ghost: has a colorful quilt for a body and a pincushion for a head. Found inside houses.
Garbage dump - accessible through abandoned town, possibly what drove people away (includes piles of toys you may investigate to encounter a banette, mimikyu or klefki)
Water/poison: cartoony fish with blank eyes and humanoid pair of legs. Fish for in toxic green garbage pools. Evolves into ground/poison skeleton fish with four limbs, walking like a lizard.
Steel/bug rusty orange silverfish. Eats junk metal. Evolved form so big it wears a rusty car for protection with just its legs and feelers sticking out.
MICROPOKEMON - enlarged artificially in a laboratory where you can also take your fossils.
Bug/fighting flea - spiny black flea with big jagged white teeth. Create from the "pest sample" an item carried randomly by the normal/bug dog.
Poison/fairy germ - fuzzy multicolored mold ball with eyes, stalked suckers. Retrieve "germ sample" from the dodo ghost.
Water/fairy tardigrade - transparent, cute bug stylized almost like a "gummy bear."  Retrieve "dew sample" from moss sloth.
Pseudolegendary:
Rock type baby gargoyle creature. Evolves to winged gargoyle with levitate and a few mossy patches. Final form is an elegant griffon-like rock/dragon with an elaborately carved surface
SPACE ARK DRAGON This location is itself a dragon/fairy legendary pokemon so massive you can enter its body. It exists to collect and preserve species from dying worlds. Most common wild pokemon inside is duosion and sometimes Reuniclus. You can also collect "gene samples" from crystalline pods to replicate the ultrabeasts in the same lab you enlarge the microbes and resurrect fossils.
Bug/dark parasitic alien, a little like weird yellow plant suckered to the ground, red flower-like head with an eye on each petal ala the yokai parasite, gyochu.
Bug/dark parasitic alien, a colorful worm with cute eyes and beautiful mothlike wings, a little like the yokai parasite koshi-no-mushi.
Bug/dark parasitic alien, a pale, red and white striped "lizard" with six spindly limbs and a tubular proboscis, inspired by the yokai parasite kagemushi.
Fairy type alien medic, looks like a cute flatwoods monster with heart motif and nurse coat. Flees from all battles unless you have defeated at least one of each of the parasites.
LEGENDARIES:
Dragon/electric: the ark dragon's smaller offspring, looks like an electronic space whale.
Dragon/steel, menacing, sleek black starship creature. Rival to the ark dragon, a "world reaper" that attempts to destroy planets that it thinks are already dying.
Psychic/fairy little white, fluffy mothman-like being, an observer that casts judgment on suffering worlds to call one of the dragons (version based)
Normal type legendary is the most human-like pokemon we've ever seen, a serene floating figure with long hair and black, almond-shaped eyes. A genetic experiment to supplant humans.
Electric/fighting: a hulking humanoid beast, almost frankensteinian with asymmetrical features, a failed early experiment.
A "glitched and scrambled" two dimensional pokemon. The result of the earliest known experiments in digital pokemon transfer. Actually literally typeless.
POISON FUSIONS created in the garbage dump:
Weezodor - poison/flying - Garbodor/weezing hybrid, like a jellyfish bag with smog tentacles.
Mukking - poison/water - Weezing/muk hybrid, like a koffing with slime appendages.
Garmuk - poison/ground - Muk/garbodor hybrid, like a giant slug made of trash.
MUTANT POKEMON: mutations of classic first-stage pokemon into creatures slightly tougher than even their original final stages.
Mutant Caterpie - bug/dragon - huge, dragonlike Caterpie with more menacing eyespots, clawed limbs.
Mutant Paras - pure grass - giant paras with far more mushrooms of different colors, body pure white with no mouth and white sphere eyes, actually made only of fungus.
Mutant Venonat - bug/dark - same old venonat with a big shaggy monster body
Mutant Zubat - Psychic - somewhat larger than crobat, has actual legs and a pair of clawed arms instead of wings. Much bigger ears.
Mutant Voltorb - electric/steel - a Voltorb even bigger than Electrode, otherwise looks normal besides angrier yellow eyes...until it splits open to reveal sharp teeth.
Mutant Tangela - grass/fairy - more like its scrapped Gen II evolution but perhaps a lot taller, with two very very long arms.
Mutant Geodude - rock/fighting - HUGE spiky arms and hands but head/body are the same as always.
Mutant Shellder - water/steel - it's the spiraly slowbro one!
Mutant Exeggcute - psychic/poison - bigger and more plentiful but "rotten" looking eggs with gloomier eyes and dark purple goo.
Mutant Eevee - normal - bigger than any of the eeveelutions, shaggy and beastly with the "camouflage" ability. Learns strong attacks of every eevee evolution type.
Mutant Doduo - fighting type with only one head
Mutant Luvdisc - the only one based on a non-evolving pokemon. Angry "broken heart" Luvdisc with record offensive stats for the series, but even worse defenses than regular luvdisc.
Mutant Trapinch - dragon/bug - giant turtle-like Trapinch, redder, spiny, second mouth inside jaws.
Mutant Dratini - dragon/fairy - huge long dratini with longer feathery wing ears, identical wings down body.
Mutant Larvitar - dragon/dark - big, armored green reptile, still has larvitar type head with craggier, meaner horn.
Mutant Bagon - dragon - huge, more t-rex proportioned bagon, spiked shell on head.
Mutant Deino - bigger and shaggier with a ring of five long-necked deino heads
Mutant Gible - dragon/fighting - only usually seen as a huge sharky fin sticking out of the ground. When it emerges, its body isn't much bigger than regular gible.
Mutant Goomy - psychic/dragon - giant goomy with gaping mouth, antennae are much longer, green and stripey.
Mutant Jangmo-o - dragon/steel - same old head but more ankylosaur-like big body, entirely a dark iron color with more pitted looking scales.
ENVIRONMENTAL VARIATIONS no mechanical or typing difference, but new color schemes and decorations on existing pokemon, totally an aesthetic change. Have their own shiny forms.
SEA TRENCH FORMS: Entirely pale pink golisopod line with closed eyes transparent red tentacool line with darker red nodules dark maroon inkay line with blue lights red and purple feebas line
CAVE FORMS: White, eyeless venipede line White, eyeless magikarp line
DEEP SWAMP FORMS: crocodile-green Sandile line with lily pad on head black shelled "freshwater" shellder line with green algae growths pure red and purple colored bellsprout line
DEEP FOREST FORMS: braviary with more hawklike colors foongus line with no pokeball pattern...the original foongus? wolf-spider colored joltik line
POLLUTED INLET FORMS: Dewpider line with all black body and limbs, yellow glowing eyes in dirty green water Grey wailmer line draped in red algae, clumps of barnacles (presumably degenerated binacle) Wingull line with grey and black oil-splotched feathers, tin can on head
GARBAGE DUMP FORMS: Bounsweet line with only grey, brown and black colors, dark spoiled looking splotches Black bag trubbish line with green trash, copper colored pipes Rusted looking klink line, rotates only once every few seconds.
----------GYM LEADERS -------------- In this region the gyms are dual type, and bring back past mechanics and gimmicks as their focus.
flying/normal: a blind, wheelchair-bound old man who specializes in dog and bird pokemon. Uses a baton pass team.
Steel/electric: an astronaut commanding his gym by remote feed from the station. Uses Magnezone, Rotom forms and, surprisingly, a random steel or electric ultrabeast.
Poison/bug: a germophobic lady scientist ironically obsessed with pollution pokemon, always wearing a biohazard suit. Has weezing, garbodor, the fly pokemon and Yanmega. Uses Z-moves, but it's random whether she uses a bug or poison one and on which pokemon.
Dark/fire: an elderly biker lady. Has no gym and in fact roams around the region. Surprisingly challenges you to a third-gen style beauty contest with her frightening selection of pokemon.
Grass/fairy: witchy pharmacist and botanist who lives out in the woods, all of her grass types are mushroom based. Unusually has you team up with her in a double battle against a random pokemon of unusual size and strength, like Alola's totem pokemon.
Ground/fighting: an extremely frail little nerdy guy who likes amazingly fearsome pokemon, hates bullies but kind of is one. Makes you face a horde battle with all of his pokemon vs. only one of yours at a time.
Dragon/rock: a boisterous monster movie director who dresses his pokemon in costumes, gym is a cardboard city. Uses a dynamaxed pokemon.
Ghost/psychic: a horror author, Vincent Price like, lives in a mansion and makes visitors face scenes from his books. Instead of a single battle, he has you face a series of singular mega pokemon behind each "scene." THE LABORATORY This location is of course secretly associated with the villain team, but you can free it up from them in the endgame. Here you can make fossil pokemon, micropokemon, regional forms from past generations, ultrabeasts and even mega stones, but all require you to spend one or more “gene crystals.” You’re handed a number of these through the storyline but it would be very challenging to farm more than that  (think Gen 7 bottlecaps). Spending more crystals at the lab would allow you to finally alter abilities, natures and IV’s at a whim, and for an exceptional cost you could upgrade the BASE stats of any L100 pokemon permanently. This is a percentage increase applied across the board to all of its stats at once, and stops at either 100 total points beyond their normal limits, or a final base stat total of 530 (equivalent to a fully evolved starter) MISC STUFF:
Your mom this gen asks you if you hope to have an easy, challenging, or very challenging adventure. You can return to her at any time to adjust the difficulty again.
When you beat the game, you can make a custom trainer for online battles using the models of other NPC trainer types, i.e. you can finally be a swimmer/scientist/grunt/etc. You can unlock some popular ones from past generations.
You can select one pokemon as your main partner, which not only has it following you, but involves it a little more in the storyline (special events based on its first typing) and gives it some in-game perks.
A special item attached to any one of your pokemon allows your whole team to “share strength,” meaning that their weaknesses are mitigated for each teammate they share a type with. This allows for type-themed teams to be more viable but wouldn’t completely eliminate their weaknesses, and the effect diminishes proportionately for every pokemon that faints.
You can designate a seventh pokemon to be your “team mascot,” a non-combat role with different effects depending on species/type.
A single team can have either the mascot, a z-move, a dynamax/gigantamax form or a mega, cannot mix these.
Legendary pokemon now suffer a stat nerf for every other legendary pokemon on the same team. A team of six legendaries would actually be somewhat below-average in stats.

How does this even work...
Okay, so I’ve been on tumblr since before the first time they very slightly changed the shade of blue and I hope that in and of itself is enough to help y’all know... I’m ancient. (I’m 27, and will only rp with ppl 18+, sorry friendos)
Somehow, despite being on tumblr and despite having made about a million accounts for various things in my day, I’ve not made an RP account, and don’t really know how to get started. I guess I’m just gonna put down what I know about myself and what I’m looking for here and hope for the best, but I’d be open to any kind of protips from those of you who have been using tumblr to find rp for much longer.
RIP to your eyes ahead of time, this is a long post. If you want to skip to the part where I share my Original plots, pairings, and fandom cravings, please just scroll to the end and accept my humble apologies. (Highkey I copied this out of my google doc, don’t shoot me.)
I enjoy writing both original plots and fandom stuff. When RPing within a fandom setting, I'm open to playing as canons, as ocs, or any combination of both. I'm open to co-creating settings inspired but not based in fandoms, and open to playing AU or canon settings as well. When originals are involved, I prefer co-creating our worlds together, so we're both invested in the landscape that our characters inhabit. Speaking of characters- I'll play as any gender and in any pairing type- I hope that this is the same for you. I love writing a broad spectrum of characters to keep things interesting for myself and to practice viewing the world through different perspectives. I feel it's difficult to do this when being forced or pigeonholed into writing as a gender you DEMAND of me. However... I can be flexible, and if your ideas are interesting enough, I may just give you what you ask for anyways, haha. I'm perfectly open to playing multiple characters, whether it's a broad interactive cast of mains and background characters, a system of noninteracting or separate sets of doubles, triples, you name it, or whatever other configuration of multiple-character-playing you prefer.
I'm not too terribly concerned about post lengths and am open to writing with people who might be new to the RP scene. I'm pretty flexible about how much I'll write. A good rule of thumb for myself is that I tend to respond with more when I have more to work with. That doesn't always mean that there are more words on your post for me to respond to; instead, I mean that if your post has enough ideas, inspiration, and momentum, I can go buckwild with my posts. My comfort zone seems to be around 4-6 paragraphs per post, but I've been known to write either a lot more in particularly thrilling rps. If I'm writing a huge post- don't feel daunted or expected to match length. I love all sized posts!!! I'm just overly enthusiastic and get carried away sometimes. (This means you can also at any time tell me to chill out on how much I'm writing. ) When it comes to writing style, I only have a few hard expectations of you- I do not engage in roleplay featuring the 'would' style of writing. (For example: "She would pick up the rock and inspect it closely.") I don't exactly know why I dislike this tense so much, but it pulls me right out of the immersion of writing/reading and tends to entirely destroy my interest in the story. I'm sorry. Next, I care at least a little about punctuation and spellchecking. If you're roleplaying online, you have access to ways to make sure that you're not just submitting gibberish. If you need help finding those resources... feel free to ask!
I'm open to the idea of making profiles for our characters, but I'm okay without making them too. I'm also vaguely ambivalent to 'beautifying' our posts, should we do them somewhere that allows that sort of thing. I'm fine with any style of reference images, or with not using them at all. I can't promise I won't send you songs and images and memes that remind me of our story, though! Also- I'm super down for dice systems if we decide to go that route (and prefer dice systems if we include combat of any variety in our story.) I love romance, but it doesn't necessarily have to be the drive of our plot if that's not your style. My favorite genres to write in are science fiction, any variety of fantasy, horror, drama, historical settings, wild western settings, and mysteries.
Last but not least, I tend to like making friends with my writing partners. I prefer writing with people I actually get along with, so for me, the plotting phase is the most important. It helps me get to know your personality a bit more, and you mine, so we both know whether or not it's a good match to write long term! I'll write on most platforms, so let's discuss what makes the most sense for us. Finally, I generally only write with folks 18+, for the safety of everyone involved. Thanks for understanding.
Well, as I said, I've got a big ol list of ideas, if any of this strikes you as 'good writing friend' material, so send me a DM and I'll get back to you asap! Feel free to share your ideas too!!!
Original Ideas
- There's something dire down in the mines to the east of this old Western town. Folks keep goin' in to investigate, disappearin' for days at a time, then comin' back all different-like with the lights gone from their eyes. What could be happenin' out there, sheriff? (horror/western)
- A high-fantasy world's balance is shattered when the source of magic is destroyed. How will the people of this mystical land navigate a now mundane life, and how can they survive when so many magical devices go defunct and awry?
- A no-magic world is suddenly spun into chaos: an apocalyptic event leads to the sudden introduction of magic into a world that had previously never known it. In the post-apocalyptic (and mystically-charged) ashes of a world that once was, how do the survivors compete for resources and control?
- A star falls from the sky! They're rare, and it's dangerous to be one. Are you the star, hunted and lost? Or are you someone who finds a star?
- A lich (my character) is rumored to live in the castle at the foot of the mountains, only a mile or so from your town. It's said they're a true villain, the worst of the worst... but what is the truth?
-Arranged Marriages between physical embodiments of the seasons or planets
- There's something dire down in the mines to the east of this old Western town. Folks keep goin' in to investigate, disappearin' for days at a time, then comin' back all different-like with the lights gone from their eyes. What could be happenin' out there, sheriff? (horror/western)
-A sailor, pirate, or other seafarer keeps noticing the same shape in the waters near their ship. After a terrible storm, the ship wrecks… now, one’s a mermaid, one’s a sailor, and they’re both idiots trying to find their way back home.
-Disaster has struck! A grisly assassination attempt leads a bodyguard to quickly usher their liege to safety. Drama ensues!
-Stowaways, and the people who catch 'em!
- Androids and more androids! Or... androids and non-androids!
-In a dwindling-magic world, those who cling to the olde magicks and the old way of living struggle against the new capitalist society and its nonmagic technology. In one still-magickal neighborhood where our story takes place, shopkeepers fight against nonmagickal gentrification in an effort to keep their businesses, communities, and traditions alive.
- A wandering traveler gets caught in a storm and chances upon an abandoned home, castle, or manor.... oh no!
- A train hopping crust punk encounters the ghost of a fellow train-hopper who fell under the rails and died.
- A living person's computer, gaming device, or phone is inhabited by a flirty ghost!
- There's a friendly but sad ghost living in a living person's new home! (Can you tell I like ghosts?)

Tag game
I was tagged by @quarter0master (thank you!) ages ago, and I only just got around to doing this. Sorry!
Name: Lisa

Star sign: Aries, I think?
Height: 165 cm
Put your iTunes or Spotify on shuffle. What are the first 4 songs that popped up?
So… I don’t really have playlists. So instead I chose random songs from albums I’ve played on repeat lately, and tried to make the list pretty diverse.
1.            This song is about being attacked by monsters – Leathermouth
2.            Hand of God (outro) – Jon Bellion
3.            Here – Years and years
4.            Mamere – Eddy de Pretto
Have you ever had a poem or song written about you? No, I don’t think so.
When was the last time you played guitar? Probably a couple years ago. I got a guitar as a Christmas present four years ago, but I’ve used it very rarely.
Who is your celebrity crush? I think the better question is who isn’t my celebrity (and also real life) crush. I am not joking when I say I probably have about 40/50 celebrity crushes. What’s a sound you hate and a sound you love? I reeeally hate the sound of a fork scraping against a plate. Some sounds I love are laughter, my cat’s meows and purring, my psychology teacher’s voice (for some reason) and the sound when you crack your knuckles.
Do you believe in ghosts? Not really? But hey, I can be persuaded.
How about aliens? 100%. I definitely believe there are other life forms out there. Many of them might not resemble us in the slightest, but I also do think that there might be creatures that are more humanoid out there.
Do you drive? I’m learning how to! Hopefully I’ll get my license sometime next year.
What was the last book you read? Call me by your name. I reread it after watching the film last weekend (it was only just now available on a streaming I subscribe to).

Do you like the smell of gasoline? Yes! I also love the smell of smoke from extinguishing lit candles.

Whats the worst injury you’ve ever had? I’ve been so lucky throughout my life that I actually don’t know! I’ve never fractured or seriously sprained anything *touches wood*.
Do you have an obsession right now? Yes, right now my main one seems to be adopting fandoms from any and everyone I follow on tumblr.com. It happened with the Dragon Prince, James Bond, She-ra, and to certain degrees the Good Place, Daredevil and the DC Extended Universe (actually only Superbat hahaha). Oh! Another one is painting my nails! I’ve spent more than a decade never painting my nails, until about two months ago when I decided to start. Right now all my fingernails are painted black, but last week 5 were red and the other 5 were blue. I’ve also had a combination of pink and orange, and black and pastel & glittery purple.
Do you tend to hold grudges against people who have done you wrong? Sometimes. I usually forgive people easily and wholeheartedly, though I don’t forget what they’ve done. There have however been some instances where I just wasn’t (and still am not) able to shake it off. In a relationship? Yes? I’ve been dating a guy on-off for the past three years, and right now we’re ‘on’ again. We haven’t talked about whether or not we’re officially together, but I’d say we are considering neither of us is seeing someone else. I still don’t refer to him as my boyfriend though, I usually call him the ‘sort-of bf’.
Tagging @vaccastulta and @overly-enthusiastic-friend, if you guys want to do this?

2018: #6-STRANGE MONSTERS I HAVE CREATED
Tumblr media
We have previously examined all sorts of strange monsters – from film, tv, music, art, and more! Since this is the tenth and final year for Pandora’s Box of True Halloween Tales, the time is ripe, if not already rotten, for me to share the details on monsters I have created as a dungeon master for my Dungeons & Dragons campaign (see 2012: #10-DUNGEONS). I have always been fascinated with monsters and fantasy. That continued as I started with D&D around 1980. I am quite familiar with most monsters including rare monsters. I am well aware that society has become more sophisticated in understanding monsters, especially due to the prevalence of horror films and games. So when a caped vampire with a foreign accent might have sufficed in the past, now a rather rude hyperactive vampire leprechaun in drag angrily tossing about dragon feces might be better (see 2018: #3-DRAGONS).
Over the years some interesting new monsters have been published in D&D manuals. Other new monsters have been created by dungeon masters across the world and presented online with artwork and full details. The Creeping Pit is a basically a wandering two-dimensional hole. One can be created by placing a magic item, a Bag of Devouring, inside of an extra-dimensional Portable Hole. Both magic items are consumed and eventually a Creeping Pit is created. It is six feet wide, appears as a big black hole, has an intelligence, and it moves along the floor like a two-dimensional black hole. If you are lucky enough to fall into a Creeping Pit, the pit is only ten feet deep. But after falling in you are eventually sucked into the Astral Plane where no WiFi signal ever goes. Another new monster is the House Hunter Mimic. The House Hunter Mimic is a giant, house-sized, shapeshifter that often appears as a home, log cabin, or trading post, but it eats you after you waltz inside. New and more complex monsters are the way to go!
Being a Dungeon Master for 35 years should be resume material because it represents knowledge and proficiencies in many skills: strategy, drafting, design, creativity, conceptual art, psychology, and acting. I have created many monsters which are documented with all relevant statistics, histories, as well as images of the monsters. Muji are ten foot tall combinations between ogre mage and Oni from a parallel world who use a particularly evil form of magic (see 2012: #11-ONI). A Marauder is a fifteen foot tall, thin humanoid resembling a wingless imp. They are created by the strongest of magics by wizards to explore distant locations such as nearby planets (see 2016: #2-WIZARDS). They are living homunculi who are controlled by the wizard who created them who uses their vision, hearing, and senses as if the Marauder was the Mars Lander. Manitou are conglomerations of multiple ghosts that form one bad being, named from the 1977 film, the only film I have ever shown anyone that caused them to immediately leave in terror and run away in the middle! Sea Giants are twenty-four foot tall and resembling the Creature From the Black Lagoon. Celephais were hideous Lovecraftian monsters created by attaching a severed human head to a spider-like base, topped with a fleshy flower-like stalk sticking out of the top of the head. So many monsters, but what are the more powerful monsters, designed for the strongest of heroes to combat? Therefore, presented for your approval, three powerful monsters I created that players have encountered.
The Boogeyman is a monster I created, and it is surprising that another D&D monster does not exist with that popular name! The Boogeyman is an undead monster that does not exist in the natural world; they are constructs more unnatural than the Frankenstein monster. The Boogeymen were created by a deathmaster, a high level necromancer capable of inventing and manufacturing new types of undead. A deathmaster is pretty much a mad scientist wizard (see 2018: #5-MAD SCIENTISTS). The Boogeyman is a shapeshifter composed of black ooze and behaves with a chaotic and evil disposition. They can form into just about any shape they can think of, yet still composed of black ooze. In some ways they sometimes resemble the super-villain Venom (see 2018: #12-SUPERVILLAINS). Boogeymen are terribly strong and their single blow on an average person would kill them and cause them to rise as a zombie serving the Boogeyman. They are immune to normal weapons like vampires; even a 16-ton weight would not harm one. They can easily escape with their shape shifting ability when needed, but that is normally not needed for a Boogeyman since they are deadly. They often have other undead working with them. They can not reproduce; Boogeymen can only be created by deathmasters. An adventuring party can spend considerable time tracking down all the remaining Boogeymen and to destroy them before they do too much harm…. In my D&D campaign, the Boogeymen were created by the deathmaster Arawn, based on Lloyd Alexander’s Prydain series. His legacy long after he was defeated were the thirteen Boogeymen he released. In the 90 years that have elapsed in the campaign since they were released, there are now only five or so left in existence to plague the world.
A wild magic-user is a wizard who works with magic very differently than normal wizards. The power flows through them, they try to shape it and gain more power out of the magic than it usually yields. In my campaign I very much use wild magic from The Tome of Magic resource manual, and I use updated specialized wild surge tables and rules. That means wild magic-users tend to be more powerful with shorter lifespans. One wild magic-user, Wan-Vip Nla of the Nla wild magic family, released an ultra-powerful wild magic surge on a death hag. This surge was like a ball of bad wishes, and it turned the death hag into something considerably more dangerous than a Boogeyman, a Necrophage. Even worse, the Necrophage was magically cloned four times making five of them. A Necrophage is a hideous abomination quite capable of creating a Boogeyman. They have lost about half of their deathhag physical form and have a Lovecraftian appearance; the Pathfinder gaming system’s Spawn of Yog Sothoth image perfectly captures the Necrophage’s lovely essence. As their name hints at, Necrophages are cancers of reality itself. They each have individual personalities and have gone their separate ways since Wan-Vip Nla was defeated. All five continue to survive, hiding out in various places. Recently, one of the Necrophages was seen at a distance by the current adventuring party, and it was named “Gretta Foulrot-Curseyu” (see 2018: #11-THE ADVENTURE CONTINUES 6).
The third monster I created, even more dangerous than a Necrophage, is an alien species, the Cimmerians. Cimmerians originated more than 150 million years ago. Their planet Cimmeria was giant, impossibly the size of a small solar system, sustained by strange properties in that part of the universe. Due to these strange properties, this mega-planet developed and supported life. The planet was orbited by stars, and its inhabitants felt that they were the true chosen people for the universe since they came from the largest planet. Their egos were in proportion to the size of Cimmeria. After many thousands of years, some of the orbiting suns hit their planet and they lost their home. The Cimmerians then travelled from galaxy to galaxy as they improved their technologies and magic, integrated from all of the knowledge they fiendishly collected. They not only left a path of destruction behind them across the universe, but they wrecked whole galaxies they passed through. They lost the ability to reproduce, and soon they were forced to become undead liches (see 2013: #10-LICHES). Even their magically-enhanced undead bones withered over millions of years, so they then transformed themselves into becoming stone and shrunk their form until they appeared as basically calcified, undead small green aliens. They became deathmasters and sucked the life out of whole galaxies while they created a system of soul-consuming magic as in the Elder Scrolls video games. Galaxies they left behind developed undead necropolitan civilizations since no one was left alive. By the time the Cimmerians arrived in the Milky Way Galaxy where my campaign takes place, there were only nine surviving Cimmerians. They destroyed an early galactic federation near the galactic center, and the Cimmerians eventually left our galaxy on their continual quest to reach the first galaxy created, Iok. A couple of Cimmerians stayed behind to rule the Milky Way galaxy, including one that assumed the identity of an Orbus Beholder, one of the few rulers of the Beholder alien species. Since Cimmerians are millions of years old, they operate as the most powerful wizards, deathmasters, engineers, and their technology is the best from all the universe. They are simply the most difficult opponent, with hordes of henchmen of the highest level. Even Doctor Who would spend a season vs. just one Cimmerian (see 2018: #2-GUIDE TO DOCTOR WHO).
If all three: a Boogeyman, a Necrophage, and a Cimmerian met, who would win in a battle to the death? How about if they fought in the deep, dank Sewers of Strangeness? The Boogeyman would be the fastest and would lash out at the largest target, the Necrophage, with a long black ooze tentacle. The Necrophage would surely have some defensive spells already on themself preventing any damage. The Necrophage would then reach for a magical wand it had tucked away somewhere horrible. The Cimmerian would watch this attack with mild interest, its cold green eyes revealing nothing but evil in the steamy sewer. The Necrophage then would shoot a powerful magical lightning blast from the wand. Since Necrophage are wild magic users, this lightning bolt would appear pink with black and white polka dots due to a wild surge. The lightning would bypass the Boogeyman due to its inherent magic resistance. The lightning bolt would then loudly blast the sewer wall, cracking and partially collapsing it. The Boogeyman would then wrap a glistening black ooze tentacle around the head of Necrophage as the Cimmerian watched, not moving. The Necrophage would use its powers over undead to attempt to control the Boogeyman, but that would fail. The Boogeyman would then use its tentacle’s hold on the Necrophage and twist its head off, tossing it into the deep end of a bubbling sewage pile… And this pile may have contained feces suitable for cockatrice or basilisk eggs (see 2018: #3-DRAGONS). The Cimmerian would cast one spell instantly dominating the Boogeyman, ordering it to submit. The Cimmerian would climb on its shoulders, command it to take a giant black ooze serpent form, and get them out of the sewer. As they squished away through the muck, a few bubbles would come from the water over the severed head of the Necrophage. It would float to the surface, using its tongue to swim back to its body to reattach itself to its head. The Cimmerian on the black ooze serpent would be long gone by the time the Necrophage’s head was functioning properly again on its body. The Necrophage would step forward to make its exit just as the whole sewer collapsed on it from the lightning bolt damage made to the wall. The Necrophage still would still eventually escape the ruined Sewers of Strangeness, perhaps then perpetually hunting for that Cimmerian and Boogeyman who sailed off into the moonlight.
