How to Clean Screen Printing Screen?
Tumblr media
The quality of prints plays a significant part in making your screen-printing business a success. However, your customers will be dissatisfied if the print quality is poor. But do you know what can make the quality of your prints dull? Well, one of the contributing factors that define the quality of print is the cleanliness of the screen.
Timely cleaning of the screen-printing screen is an utmost important task to ensure prints look vibrant. You might think that the process is tough to crack, but it's an effortless task if you opt for the right cleaner.
This guide will help you explore the right screen-printing cleaner and focus on how to get rid of plastisol ink on two different surfaces: Press Wash and Screen Wash. So, let's explore Plastisol ink remover, the best-fitted solvent for cleaning Plastisol inks.
How to Remove Stain with Plastisol Ink Remover?
The commonly used ink in recent times is plastisol ink. It is eco-friendly ink made up of plasticizer PVC resins and can be easily removed from screen printing screen. Screens utilized for printing with plastisol inks should be regularly cleaned.
Otherwise, it will create a buildup of ink on the screen and will lower the quality of prints. For cleaning the printing screen and upgrading the quality of your print, here is a step-by-step guide to removing stains with plastisol ink remover.
Step 1
Start by diluting the screen printing cleaner with water. Wear a breathing mask, rubber gloves, and protective eye goggles for your precautions. Initiate the process in a well-ventilated area.
Step 2
Moist a soft and clean cloth with ink remover and rub the cloth directly on the surface of the print screen where you are attempting to remove the plastisol ink. Coat the screen with a lean layer of plastisol ink remover by directly spraying it onto the item. After spraying, leave the screen for 30 minutes.
Step 3
Use a soft cloth and soft-bristled brush to remove the plastisol ink. If required, apply another coating of plastisol ink remover and scrub again to remove all the ink.
Step 4
Clean the screen with cold water to remove the ink remover. Let the screen dry for 15- 20 minutes. After that, wipe the screen with a dry and soft cloth.
Pros of Plastisol Ink Remover
These are environmentally friendly, non-hazardous, and non-caustic
Consist of low odor and are drain-safe
It's cost-effective
These are non-flammable and non-VOC solvents.
Plastisol ink remover doesn't degrade the fabric.
Safe for emulsion and capillary stencils
Cons of Plastisol Ink Remover
It can be harsh on skin and eyes.
Stay attentive while using the chemical.
It requires specialized disposal.
Wear gloves and eye protection while using ink removers.
Why Cleaning Screen-Printing Screen is Essential?
After finishing the printing work, cleaning your screen printing screen is essential. Later, it becomes more challenging, especially cleaning water-based inks. Plastisol inks are more suitable than water-based inks. Plastisol inks can be easily cleaned with Plastisol Ink Remover.
If not cleaned on time, it will end up being more challenging to remove the residual ink. Also, it can lead to screen damage. One of the significant factors related to the quality of prints is the cleanness of the screen printer.
A clean screen printer produces quality prints, but if you don't clean your screen printer, the quality of prints becomes poor.
Final Word
Cleaning the screen-printing screen is not hard to crack; you can simply clean your screen-printing screens using a plastisol ink remover. It is crucial to clean your screen-printing screen. Otherwise, a buildup of ink will gather on the screen, which will be challenging to clean later. However, just take proper precautions for your safety while using the chemical, as it can be hazardous for your skin and eyes and can cause irritation in your eyes. Clean your screen print screens using the best screen printing cleaner with ease and produce high-quality print.
