Ok but Gale and Rolan

Like Rolan is a pretty popular character, people seem to really like him and write a lot of fan fiction about him. And obviously a lot of people love Gale too he's one of the main companions.

So why do I not see them shipped together?

Like the way Rolan talks about Lorraokan before he actually meets the fuck it feels like he kinda has a crush on him, like a little celebrity crush. So we know that Rolan is partial to what he thought Lorraokan was: A brilliant and ambitious wizard who's generous with his arcane knowledge.

And Gale very much ticks all those boxes. He was enough of a magical prodigy to be Mystra's chosen, he had a solid plan to become a GOD and the very first thing he does to try to romance you is teach you some magic.

You can't tell me Rolan wouldn't be following the party around in the tower after the battle, see Gale being king nerd very casually explaining stuff Lorrakaon didn't even vaguely understand and not go:

"Oh."

And with how many times Gale has proven to be a good person by saving the teiflings over and over, Rolan could absolutely mentally gloss over the whole "What if I used the crown of Karsus to become a god?" thing.

And I mean, Rolan could absolutely pull Gale. We know from playing the game that it is not hard to seduce Gale, to the point it's kind of annoying. Post game Rolan could just invite Gale over to look at "This fascinating new tome some adventurers sold me that was recovered from a shipwreck/ancient temple/dragon's hoard! And we haven't talked in so long, please stay for a glass of wine. Oh you write poetry? Tell me more. <3" And he's fucking genuine about wanting to hear the poetry because of course that nerd would.

Like it's not rocket science, honestly it ain't even algebra. I'd give it like 3 months tops before Rolan is bragging about his "BOYFRIEND who is a professor at BLACKSTAFF ACADEMY and did I mention he's adorable?" And he just keeps finding new things about Gale to gush about to the point Cal and Lia start to consider pushing off the roof of the tower just to get him to shut up.

Gale would also be perfectly happy in the relationship, like he really just wants someone who supports him and is a good person maybe? As a treat? And Rolan has shown to be a little heroic himself, protecting orphans, trying to rescue his family single handed and fighting with you against Lorraokan if his spirit isn't totally broken. He can even bridal carry Gale to safety with his 12 str. No really he has 12 strength, you can google it.

Like it's not the OTP to end all OTPs but it's cute. And I'm just confuzzled on why there's barely anything with these two.

A Gentleman and a Scholar

"And this," Gale said, gesturing around him, "is the library." There was a great deal of satisfaction in his voice. "One of the finest collections in Waterdeep. Everything we need should be here."

Rolan's fingers very nearly itched with the desire to start getting his hands on them, and he curled them slightly to curb the impulse. There would be time enough to read and learn in the coming months.

"You're free to use it whenever I'm in the tower. I only ask that you not touch anything on my desk or to refrain from exploring when I'm away." He grinned at Rolan. "No restricted section like at Blackstaff. There's nothing too dangerous in here and I trust you'll use your judgment."

Rolan nodded. "Of course, Master Dekarios."

Gale's steps stuttered for only a brief moment. "Ah, yes, well..." He cleared his throat. "I suppose 'Master Dekarios' is fine in public, and around Tara of course, but in private 'Gale' is fine.

"As you wish...Gale." It felt a bit unnatural to call his master and mentor, the wizard who would teach him all he needed to know, simply by his given name, but if that's what the man wanted then Rolan would do it.

After another momentary pause from Gale, he continued on, pushing open the double doors that led to the balcony. He stopped, Rolan coming up just beside him, and sighed happily. "Take it all in, Rolan. With time, talent, and effort, one day you'll have a tower of your own to call home. This is just the beginning for you, I'm sure of it."

The beginning, indeed. Rolan looked out over the water, reiterating the promise he'd made to himself when he'd received Gale of Waterdeep's reply to accept him as his apprentice: he would do this and someday become the greatest wizard on the Sword Coast.

Thunderweave where Gale stays in bg to help Rolan rebuild the shop + they dance around their giant obvious crushes on each other for weeks until they finally end up kissing. Somehow they manage to still misunderstand each other for another week or two.

Gale dropping a stack of books because Rolan rolled his sleeves up and exposed his forearms. Gale noticing Rolan forgets to eat when he’s wrapped up in a project or really busy so he starts leaving lovingly prepared meals on his desk at regular intervals.

As for the ships I ofc love my toxic yaoi bloodweave and the softest thunderforge

But I'm also a multishipper, and I adore crackships. Thunderweave and minsctarion have a special space in my heart ❤️

Three Ships:

So I assume this is like favorites? Okay, I'll try to do separate fandoms as well to keep it interesting and I'll try and make it less common ships, not exactly rare ships per se because like... I am very shy and anxiety prone so truthfully iunno what's rare and not because I don't engage a lot.

Thunderweave (Gale/Rolan) : I really like this one, even more since my fiancee and I RPed it with the idea of transmasc Rolan. It's really kind of interesting and also Rolan deserves a better fellow wizard than Lorroakan and I think Gale is a great fellow wizard being both talented, secure in his abilities, but also willing to see the potential and power in another person. Also I super identify with Rolan and my fiancee does a really good really convincing Gale for RP and cosplay. Kabru/Mithrun: I initially preferred Kabru/Laios, which I still really like honestly, but I read a longer post about Mithrun's disabilities and his trauma and how Kabru treats him like a person when most people don't and like as a heavily traumatized person who became suddenly and severely disabled as a result, I really really relate and hope that my partners will show me that same level of care when they are able (distance has been the main reason why not, my mom has mainly been the one taking care of me since I became disabled so I don't really know what my partners will do in person because one lives far away and one has been called away on family issues since before this became a major issue) Thraina (Thrall/Jaina) : This is the only hetero ship I consistently come back to. I usually prefer Sylvanas/Jaina, but realistically I don't want to put that one here for only one reason. Sylvanas/Jaina has a lot of basis in what it could be (No one at Blizzard who has been there consistently through their entire development is talented enough to have made it work so it's all theoretical and based on what much better unpaid fanfiction writers decide). Thraina, meanwhile was unintentionally somehow written as one of the most equitable, healtyh, equal, and level relationships in all of WoW and it wasn't even canon...mainly because Metzen is a weird creepy misogynist (one of the main reasons I actually mainly write Aggra/Jaina as a ship actually, because both deserve better and are, in theory, better than that bag of derivative Marvel obsessed dicks allows them to be) but anyway, it's just fascinating to me how the healthiest ship in WoW was axed, shut down, and denied despite how genuinely good it was. I could write essays on this, I *HAVE* written essays on this, but I'll spare you. First ship: Domon Kasshu/Chibodee Crockett (G Gundam) but also Meg Giry and Christine Daae (Phantom of the Opera) these were simultaneous, so honestly I had to put both.

Last Song: Where You Are (Moana Soundtrack)

Last Movie: it was this obscure random horror movie I found on Peacock called 'Wait Till Helen Comes' about a child ghost. I tend to since I've been unable to work stay up late making costume pieces and writing and pick random horror movies for background. It wasn't bad, honestly.

Three ships: 1. Gale x Rolan- ThunderWeave just hits all the right spots for me. Rolan is rough around the edges but Gale is smooth enough for two ;) Also just thinking about the absolute nerdery if those two were together... (I'm definitely not thinking about being the filling in that wizard sandwich. Not at all.) 2. Halsin x Zevlor- I think I'm just about the only one that ships it? Two old men who have been through the wringer helping each other heal. I can picture Zevlor going with Halsin post-netherbrain and helping with the sanctuary and discovering a new purpose... and love <3 3. Karlach x Wyll x Dammon- I can't decide who I like Karlach better with, so... why not both?

First ship: I was a late bloomer when it came to shipping, so probably the love square from Miraculous: Tales of Ladybug and Cat Noir. They're so ridiculous; I love those children! They manage to have four possible ships with only two people! Granted, secret identities are involved, but still!
