Here is some self ship art.

Me and shang.

This is an au where I'm his handmaiden. Basically I'm chosen and given to him,to help him on his island. Where he is now sentenced to be as punishment for his crimes against earthrealm(basically house arrest). Instead of killing him,after the events of 11 aftermath. (I hc kronika was killed but geras took her whole place. And got rid of the dumb crown and all the bullshit we saw? didn't happen,all that time merging? Didnt happen. The events took actually place after mk4 into deadly alliance,the whole thing plays out but instead of liu turning undead. He gets brought back because shang found our quan chis real motives was to help shinnok bring back the one being thru onaga. And he wasn't really having that. He reluctantly brought back liu kang,after having his ass whooped by one angy kung lao. All of them took down quan chi,but had to face all the gods. Including shinnok. Oof. Liu kang and shang tsung both together managed to ironically save the realms. However,because of his crimes and involvement in helping quan chi,and conspiring with him he needed divine punishment. However he still was not 100% down with that plan of onagas resurrection and instead of shang tsung being killed. He was put under basically house arrest. Only to earn his freedom thru mortal kombat tournaments. Earning his freedom,fair and square. He can only challenge him every 3-10 yrs. He was given a handmaiden. (Me,With no magic,nor any kombat skills. I thought the irony of me being friends with liu kang,that would make for some interesting and funny drama. Like he suggested that the person in question shouldn't have ties to any group,to be completely free of influence,so shang wouldn't have an advantage....well...much.) this was the only time they could allow him help.

Again its a w.i.p. I wanted to do a funny thing of shang under house arrest basically,but an au where he isn't alone actually. He has one person allowed to keep him company and help him. Thats it. That was the only good thing he'll get.

How NRS could have done MK 11

So, a few weeks ago, I decided to catch up on all the Mortal Kombat series I missed as the last MK game I played was MK 4 and I had no knowledge of the storyline.

MK 11, however, pissed me off as there were some unnecessary deaths and retcons in the story mode. Here, I am just giving suggestions as to how NRS could have done their stories. Before I proceed, I would like to state that my ideas are not perfect and these are just my opinions.

1. Fujin was not given enough screen time in MK X, which is unfortunate because he would have contributed a lot in helping Raiden after Shinnok’s second invasion.

I also wonder how he would have reacted to seeing Raiden taking on a dark persona. From my deductions from the MK X, Fujin is like that younger brother who tries to warn their older sibling from doing something stupid but their sibling doesn’t listen.

He would have tried to stop Raiden from attacking the Netherrealm, even to the point of asking Ashrah to use her Kriss to cleanse the revenants’ souls (NRS could have made use of the opportunity to bring back a character from the 3D era). But Raiden, as usual, refuses to take that advice (partly out of the fact that he has dismissed the revenants as lost causes and partly due to the fact that Ashrah is a demoness)

2. Cetrion: I love the fact that NRS introduced four new characters: Geras, Cetrion, Kronika and Kollector; but we do not know much about these characters.

For example, we do not know much about Cetrion except that she is an elder god, is Shinnok’s sister and also a mommy’s girl. This makes her a flat character in the story. NRS should have given us a backstory about her relationship with her brother, Shinnok and how it was affected when he became a fallen elder god.

3. Kitana killing Shao Kahn: I have no problem with Kitana becoming Kahn or even killing Shao Kahn but IMO, I feel like it was too sudden. NRS could have given her a story arc as to how she was able to defeat him but in a ‘girl power’ moment, NRS left out an important moment of character development.

4. Dark Raiden: I wish he was not killed off in the time merger. I was hoping to see him as the anti-hero who would do everything in his power and protect his realm. I would also have loved to see him meet Kung Loa, Lui Kang and his Past self. What would have been his reaction in meeting these past versions of his protégés along with the past version of himself?

Would he be overprotective over them, wanting to prevent the fate that befell them in the current timeline from occurring again? Would he advise his past self, wanting to prevent himself from putting on the dark persona? How would his past self react to seeing him? These are questions that NRS left unanswered when they killed off Dark Raiden.

5. Hanzo/Scorpion: it is obvious to the fans that Ed Boon has a boner for Scorpion which could be the reason why he killed off Hanzo Hasashi. His death was unnecessary and if indeed, it was necessary, it would not be at the hands of a character he has never interacted with.

If anything, Noob Saibot could have been the one to kill Hanzo as the wraith had many reasons to do so.

6. Jade/Kotal: to me, this ship was unnecessary for two reasons. One, Jade never mentioned having a lover in MK 9 and Kotal never mentioned having one either in the MK X comics and story mode. It is like the writers pulled the pairing out of their butts because they had nothing else to write.

7. Takeda, Jacqui, Cassie and Kung Jin: I love the fact that these new characters were introduced to us in MK X and I was hoping to see more of them but NRS decided to kick them to the curb, just like that.

I would have loved to the the romantic dynamic between Takeda and Jacqui, how it would have been affected during the temporal crisis and the friendship between the four friends. I would also have loved to see Kenshi in the story mode but they had to kill him off in the Krypt 🙄😒 (fortunately the Krypt is not canon).

8. Last but not the least, fix this damn shit: Kabal and Sindel’s retcons. I was confused when I saw Kabal still in the Black Dragon at first but later concluded that he must have been brought out of the time he was still working with them until I read his MK 11 bio which claimed that he was initially a police who left his job to become a Black Dragon. Don’t even get me started on his arcade ending where he and Sareena get together.

He gets together with FREAKING SAREENA! Sareena who has an emotional (and likely romantic) attachment with Bi-Han. Kabal has never even interacted with her for once!

Ok love let’s get personal 😏 tell me what made you fall for Johnny! His gorgeous body? Charming personality? Award winning (ha!) smile? I want all the wonderful (smutty 😏) details you’ve got!

What started it? 2 words. Linden Ashby.

And I mean it. I saw Mortal Kombat at the cinema (and LOVED it) and of course I couldn’t help but immediately fall in love with this Johnny. I’d played MK before then, even had the very first version on the Master System (so old it didn’t even have enough memory to cope with all the fighters so they cut KANO from it *cries*). He was the perfect mixture of hot and hilarious and he (along with Cary and Christophe Lambert) made the film for me. I honestly adore the film and will happily watch it now. We ignore the 2nd film (yeah, replace Linden Ashby with a random and then kill Johnny after 5 seconds?! That’s going to get me on side, wankers.)

After the film I went back to playing the games and Raiden (“the man with the hat” as my Mum calls him) was always my main (mixed in with some Noob and Smoke). After MK Trilogy I missed out on MK until 9 was released, and yeah, Johnny was alright, he’s funny as hell, but after his chapter he becomes a punching bag :( and I was happy blowing kisses at Raiden.

Then we get to MKX and we meet MY Johnny. Andrew Bowen’s voice is hot as hell and he is SUCH a good voice actor, without him I wouldn’t love Johnny nearly as much. Honestly, his voice does very naughty things to me, very good naughty things (in my knickers). Johnny makes MKX, he starts the thing off and if I play it or watch it through on Youtube when I get a hankering, then I always want more of him. I am a greedy slut.

I think the kharacter design is hot. I wasn’t sure of his Special Forces look to start, and when I play MKX I use either his Ninja Mime skin or his topless kostue (again, slut) and wish they’d gone for something more, well, more Johnny. Yes he’d wear the kombat trousers and vest on missions, but the guy takes care of himself and would have adopted “Treat yo self’ as one of his main mottos, so he’d wear more klassic stuff (if you zoom in on his tux shirt he has his own little JC logos on it , amazing detailing, so he has a clothing line and he’s wear that, all sexy designer looks) when not working. I absolutely ADORE the tux look in MK11, he looks incredible in it. (And oh yessss they’ve rolled up the sleeves to show off his forearms. Anyone looks good doing that, any gender, and age, any size, anyone, instantly boosts your hotness.)

The storyline of MKX where he gets together with Sonya is totally believable. If you watch Maximilian Dood play the Johnny vs Shinnok chapter on Youtube when Johnny says “She called me Johnny” Max will say something like “Oh don’t go get charming on me Johnny, you’re making me like you.” And that is exactly what Johnny’s doing, he’s charming the knickers off Sonya and everyone playing the game. Instant love. You totally see why Sonya falls for him, cos you’d be mad not to.Then you meet Older!Johnny and he’s still utterly hilarious, but now he’s more charming, less of a douche, has the sexy salt and pepper hair, still shows off the tattoo, and I wanted him even more. His obvious adoration for Cassie makes my knickers evaporate. I don’t have/want kids, but if I did a Sonya and ended up pregnant with his kiddo, you know that he'd just be the absolute best Dad.

How they treat his split from Sonya is pretty realistic. The comics show that Sonya kept with her career, and Johnny was a stay at home Dad (obviously still doing his films), and that Sonya wouldn’t take time away from her job caused the family to break up. Again, as a non kid person myself I can totally see Sonya’s side. But I can also see Johnny’s and Cassie’s (and isn’t this just forgotten in MK11?! BULLSHIT.)

Johnny interacting with Kenshi is fantastic (yeah, I totally ship it), and with Kuai (yeah, I totally ship it) and with Raiden (yeah, I totally ship it). (The “I’m guessing it’s not your first time in cuffs. What’s your safe word?” to Quan Chi with Kenshi sniggering is HILARIOUS. As is “Oh sorry ma’am, didn’t see you there” to Shinnok.

I LOVE HIM.)

Now onto MK11. Yeah, he’s GORGEOUS. His face model Colin Ryan is hot as hell (thank you NRS) and thank the Elder Gods they kept Andrew Bowen as his v/a. I’d have gone on a one woman riot if they’d changed him.

Thankfully he is mostly hilarious, and we get to feel his sadness when Sonya dies and he comforts Cassie. The bond between him and his loved ones is beautiful. His fatalities are my favourites (OMG that leer he does at the end of his ventriloquist act is knicker-ruiningly hot. GOD DAMN!)

Young Johnny is an absolute dick until he does that face at Sonya bandaging him up at the end, and we see Older!Johnny start to emerge. He’s a good boy really, his Dad just fucked him up and made him think he had to be a prick.

His clothes. So they kept with the SF styling for Older!Johnny, and it’s still not great. He looks great in it, but he’d look great in a bin bag. I am SO glad they brought out the tux, (I have already squealed on about that, but fuck me it’s amaaaaaaazing) and I LOVE the Ninja Mime kostume. The younger outfits are great too with topless being the icing on the cake. The vests are great, the colours are great, the sunglasses are great.

The non sleezeball intros are hilarious, as are his taunts (the Mime one is especially brilliant, as is the fuck you one!) I love him playing with the toy Johnny, the splits, the autograph (I imagine he’s writing that on my tits).

The bad MK11 stuff: Yeah, MK11 isn’t the best. I honestly can’t buy him and Sonya back together after how their marriage ended. He may have forgiven her, but that would never stop him feeling like she hurt Cassie, and Cassie is his everything, and you just wouldn’t get past that. Sure you could keep the peace, be civil, but feeling his child was abandoned by the other parent is not something that would ever be pushed aside. I think NRS made a huge error in getting them back together, it was obviously to heighten the emotion of Sonya’s death, and that’s pretty pathetic writing on NRS’s part.

Johnny’s intros have him behaving pretty appallingly towards the majority of the female kombatants. There was no need for him to be so sleazy. Sure Younger!Johnny is a sleazy prick, but he’s a ridiculously famous movie star, he can get anyone he wants, why have him sound like a slimeball desperate for pussy? It’s done so badly, ugh. And the non distinction between Older and Younger!Johnny is sheer laziness by NRS. Not hard to make different intros for different variations. Same goes for how they fucked up the revenant skins, kharacters will state they aren’t revenants when they have a revenant skin. Fucking terrible by NRS.

Also I am greedy and wanted more of him in the story, buuuuuut that is appallingly greedy, especially when Kabal, Erron and Bi-Han got 5 fucking seconds of FUCKING BULLSHIT.

And also, what the fuck is up with Johnny’s ending with rehab? Where did that come from? Sure he’s a film star but he never seemed drunk or high or owt so WTF? Sadly I would bet money that they put that in to try to lesson the ‘Sonya fucked up the family’ and shift the blame to Johnny. Go fuck yourselves NRS, go on, go fuck yourselves.

So what is it that makes me love Johnny? The humour and Older!Johnny’s personality, hands down. Make me laugh and I am a very happy woman. Add in muscles and a smile that could kill me?

what's your favorite & least favorite part about rping cassie? outside of ships, & interactions. more to do with her as a character or her place in nrs. - Dark

The whole spectrum of emotions I get to play with her is where I find it most fun. Listen, she’s been through a lot, from being neglected in childhood, to finally becoming independent after she proved to herself she didn’t need her anyone’s approval to be successful but her own self assurance (which is where she really blossomed, because she became her own person then), andjust as finally the bond between Sonya and Cassie tightened itself, she lost Sonya.That, and I roleplay her with scars both physical and psychological when it comes to her fight with Shinnok. She’s a mess sometimes, but it’s a mess I enjoy writing a lot. I love me a complex character! And I’m always discovering more things about her as I write her.

Do I HAVE a least favorite thing when it comes to roleplaying with her? Gonna sound fake but I can’t think of anything. lol She crept up on me as most of my favorite muses do, and when I get into a muse, there really isn’t much I don’t enjoy. I’m really just having a lot of fun. Even with her place with NRS, I’m quite satisfied with what they did with her. They really didn’t do her dirty in my opinion. They went all out with her and gave her quite the spotlight. Moreso than I thought they would before I played storymode in MK11.

However, it feels like her story, for the most part, could be over. What else could they do with her, really? She saved the day in MKX, had to deal with the loss of her mother in MK11 and then facing her as her younger self. Gained a lot of maturity…. Sure, there’s always MORE that could be done, but I can’t think of anything without pushing it too far. I do fear she may not be a part of MK12 (assuming there is an MK12 in a few years). Suppose it depends on the kind of threat we could get next game!

i don’t remember mk9 since i only played it once so i’m gonna take the cheap approach here and say it’s the moment from my fic where he appears with the others after having the revenant curse broken and saving raiden and shinnok, the way i set it up is a parallel to a pretty terrifying earlier chapter where he was still corrupted and it’s just one of my favorite parts of the whole thing

in the fic he’s going to end up moving to outworld with the edenians and helping out with stuff there rather than remain on earth, and i’d love to see that happen for him though i doubt it will in canon

-i like to think that liu kang’s fire-dragon in his win pose is like a little summonable creature that he can either control or set free to do its thing; it’s just a cute concept and i love that sort of idea

-once he’s de-corrupted he regularly keeps in touch with raiden via correspondence no matter what, just to update him on how he’s doing. same with kung lao and the other shaolin - though they may not have gotten along perfectly before they were revenants he’s particularly glad to have them back now

-in the earthrealm vs outworld tournament (again, fic timeline, but i’m pretty sure this is going to happen considering how many arcade endings it shows up in) they find a way to let liu kang keep the prolonged-life gift anyway, so he can spend the rest of his years with kitana and won’t die in a mere few decades (since he lost like 25 years to the revenant curse)

Guys i love shang tsung you know i do. Above anything i love him being the best damn antagonist he can be. But i feel y'all completely miss the nuance of shang tsung.

But also shang wouldn't harm a love struck raiden as much as shao kahn would.

Shang might troll raiden. Maybe make his life inconvenient. But not hell. No,shao kahn would!

Shao kahn would actively pursue raiden's lover and take hostage actively thru the act of mortal kombat.

Shang tsung would just point and laugh at raiden.

Raiden of course would just be annoyed. Take care of business and whoop their asses because nobody fucks with his beloved. Wtaf are tall smoking to think he wouldn't?!

Look shang is many things but he has standards and dignity unlike some people.

He knows better than to overstep that bounds.

The only AND THE ONLY REASON WHY SHANG TSUNG ATTACKS THE EARTHREALM WARRIORS. is because he had no options to,they struck first and he was on defense,or because he was after liu kang specifically because he hates that bitch for doing him dirty in the tournament on his own home island.

Use shao kahn,shinnok,or quan chi for your bad guy to mess with raiden and raidens lover.

Not shang tsung.

Now if it was kung lao or liu kangs lover....that's different,then you can utilize shang tsung. He's THEIR rival. Not raiden's.

Shinnok and shao kahn is raiden's rivals depends entirely upon the game in question. I personally think shao kahn is raiden's true rival but shinnok is raiden's true opposite of equilibrium,like shinnok is his yin to raidens yang. If that makes sense?

Raiden HAS BEEN ALWAYS HAS BEEN close to mortals. The most human.

Fujin hasn't been around humans. And that is a flat out retcon LIIIIEEEEEE!

Fujin as a character is only been around since subzero mythologies. And even then he hasn't been used much outside of when they CAN'T used raiden. And thats it.

Raiden has been around in game and non game media since 1992. Ffs people this is common knowledge. If you are a fan,you'd know this or at least do basic research before getting into mortal kombat. Fuck man.

Raiden is especially close to mortals in non game media. MkX is the only game of "Modern" mk that i have seen him how he actually is supposed to be.

So don't come at me saying "oh but the games in mk11 and mk12/mk1 say" the games say a lot of crap.

And most are retconned to death since mk9.

However if you are a raiden fan. A true fan. YOU'D KNOW HE'S NOT SOME FUCKING NON EMOTIONAL ASAHOLE WHO DOESN'T CARE FOR MORTALS.

Honestly i feel people got raidens ACTUAL personality confused with his dark form or corruption form.

Dude shinnok corrupted him. That's not his actual fucking personality day to day.

It's shinnok corrupting and manipulating his anger,frustration,guilt,and hurt. Not WHO RAIDEN ACTUALLY IS.

And what is raiden actually?!

A god,protector of mortals and the very realm(earthrealm) that he and his brother was made from. He is the most mortal. Why? Not only has he ACTUALLY LIVED AND SEEN INTERACTING WITH MORTALS AND HELPING THEM GUIDE THEM THRU THE TRIALS OF KOMBAT BUT TRAINED THEM AS WELL!!!! but also he feels the most connected with them. He loves them.

So you fuckers better start writing raidne right of so help me god i will fucking shove a lightning bolt up your ass so far you'll become niko tesla.

I don't do mk12/mk(1) 2023. So plz do not ask for that. I can do truly any other version. Sorry. I can maybe make a hybrid or my own version but it wont be like the actual game so of you're fine with that i could maybe make it work but i would very much rather do mk9,mk10,mk11,mk 1995,and mk legends.

I write hcs and imagines mostly. Full length fics are harder for my nurodivergent brain to do.

Shang tsung. He's my blorbo. And i have decided to not share or write for him anymore. So i really do apologize but i can't trust writing for other people with this character. I wanna write and self ship with this character in peace. So plz do not request any writing with shang tsung from now on. All my writing,art,kontent, for shang will be exclusively for myself only.

I do not write god liu kang(unless a corruption arch au idea?) Nor write him as some savior. You get the real chosen one or nothing at all.

Mortal Kombat Rant

Personally, I think the Aftermath was good until we got to the Sindel/Shao Kahn chapter, my opinion about the Aftermath soured.

The few things I loved about the Aftermath was the fact that the villains were not treated like jobbers and I think that is a good thing. However, I have a bone to pick with the writers at NRS for the entire MK11 about some issues

1. Can someone explain to me how Jade got promoted from Kitana’s bodyguard and friend to Kotal’s woman? Most of the time, I don’t have problems with characters having a love interest or anything but my main issue with the Jade/Kotal pairing is the fact that this ship seems forced.

Throughout the Mortal Kombat lore, Jade doesn’t mention having a love interest neither is it implied that she had one. I can buy the story of Kotal being trapped in Shang Tsung’s flesh pits but even then, Jade ought to make mention about a lover she had or at least carried an object to remember him by, right? I mean, in MK X, Kitana had a variation in which she utilized Jade’s glaive as a way to remember her.

In addition to this (and the fact that I absolutely despise Kotal as a character), as The4thSnake mentioned in his videos on Kanonical Kouples in Mortal Kombat, why was Kotal reluctant to ally with Earthrealm in MK X most especially when his supposed lover might need to be rescued?! Why was Kotal so quick to give up on Earthrealm rather than band up with them during Shinnok’s invasion?!

2. Kung Lao: To be honest, I never really considered this until an anonymous ask brought this up. I did remember asking myself at one point while watching some of the intro dialogues on YouTube, “when did Kung Lao get so arrogant?” I mean, Kung Lao did have his issues with arrogance in MK 9 but I don’t remember him being so whiny (Revenant!Kung Lao) or being a pompous jerkass (Past!Kung Lao). Or was it something I missed along the way?

In MK 9, I understood that Kung Lao had the burden of fulfilling his legacy as the descendant of the Great Kung Lao. However, he still acted mature in some incidents like when Kitana got captured and was about to be executed. But the Kung Lao I am seeing in MK 11 acts like a toddler who doesn’t have his favourite candy with him. Even in MK X, Kung Lao doesn’t act in this manner!

3. Past!Johnny Cage: Sure, Johnny Cage was an arrogant jerk in MK 9 but he wasn’t the one-dimensional Casanova MK 11 portrayed. He still respected Sonya for who she is and never tried to objectify her (even with that impractical costume in MK 9).

4. Jax Briggs: In MK X, he retired from his military duties but in MK 11, he was honourably discharged? How?

5. Sareena, a demon who wants to escape the Netherrealm and refute the stereotypes of demons always being chaotic evil, now Kabal’s housewife despite never interacting with him. If anything, Sareena would have been better making a cameo in Noob Saibot or Sub Zero’s arcade ending but someone thought she’d make a perfect housewife for Kabal 🤦🏾‍♀️

6. Kotal’s self-serving memory: Y’all remember the time Outworld allied with Earthrealm but Raiden lashed out at them for no reason? Yeah, me neither. Did Kotal seem to forget how he used the Kombat Kids to do his dirty job of getting rid of Mileena for him? Or how he claimed that Earthrealm cannot be trusted with protecting Shinnok’s amulet while conveniently leaving out the fact that he had declined the offer to do so? Or how he imprisoned them despite the fact that they had held on to their part of the bargain while purposefully breaching the Reiko Accords? Let’s not leave out the part where he went after them to kill them foolishly believing that he could buy time for Outworld when Shinnok had invaded Earthrealm.

With all the points I raised, did Kotal really aid Earthrealm? I’m surprised Dark!Raiden didn’t shock the shit out of Kotal for his betrayal.

7. What’s with the damn retcons?! I really didn’t mind Kabal’s initial retcon in MK 9 where he is a reformed criminal trying to atone for his past misdeeds until someone (ahem, Dom What’s-his-face) thought it was a good idea to retcon his origin again.

And there’s the biggest offence of all retcons NRS could have ever done which is Sindel’s retcon and honest to God, I’ve never felt sicker to my gut when I saw Sindel hugging Shao Kahn. The OG Sindel will not be caught dead even standing close to the man who destroyed her realm! Who thought this was empowering? If anything, this is a sign of pure laziness on the part of Dom Whatever-the-eff-his-name-is.

Who else are we gonna retcon too? Oh yes, Shinnok wasn’t really that evil, he only wanted to live peacefully on Earthrealm but damn Raiden and those elder gods for not granting him his wish. Or Raiden was evil all along too? How many characters is NRS gonna ruin for us?

And to think they would fix Sindel’s retcon. Shows how much NRS loves to screws the fans over.
