I think the thing I find most frustrating about swd and the fandom’s perception of the fate switching is he is such a victim or narrative circumstance. Because if hx wasn’t as loved as he is, if swd and sqx were lovers instead of brothers, if swd had a more likable personality, etc etc etc no one would say that his actions weren’t justified. Like there is nothing anyone could say to convince me that if Hua Cheng did for Xie Lian what swd did for sqx the entire fanbase wouldn’t call it tragically romantic instead of monstrous.

I heavily dislike categorizing complex characters into black or white scales. There are more interesting ways to look at a character, to understand their pain and motivations, their trauma and their convictions, to sympathise with them without justifying their crimes.

It's just my personal opinion but I don't think anyone in the Blackwater arc is "morally correct". They are all driven by what they think is right. They are all just...awfully Human.

I felt awful for Shi Qingxuan throught the arc. During the climax of the arc, when the final confrontation begins, his wounds are still fresh and there's this strange sort of innocence--or rather child like quality to his words. Like a baby taking its first steps and falling down hard, scrapping its knees and wailing. Like a baby bird venturing outside of its nest for the first time without its mother's protection, scared to know the world outside... And tragically being plucked from the sky by larger bird.

There's bizarre humanity, a raw pain behind his words and actions. Even though what he's doing is probably going against his own morals. It's also ironic, he held Pei Xiu accountable for his actions, pei xiu who's actions were also driven by his deep care for Banuye and crticized Pei Ming who wanted to protect his kin. And now... He can't do the same when its his own brother.

Why? Because he loves his brother. Despite everything... He loves his older brother.

I can't blame him, no matter what... I can't bring myself to blame him. Sometimes love makes us do things that goes against what we know is right.

He had just learned of the truth, that his life was built upon an innocent man's fate. He had just learned that his dearly beloved protector had gone to inexcusable lengths to give him the best life he possibly could.

Despite all the pain, blood, suffering and lies... He loves his brother more than anything else in the world. There lies no being in the heaven, hell or earth that he loves more than Shi Wudu. That alone makes him go against everything he knows is right...

This is not an analysis, this is my thoughts and maybe love for Shi Qingxuan. I have nothing more to add, atleast for now.

If so, peeling skin on your fingers. You know when an extremely annoting tiny bit of skin right above where you nail starts is detaching, and for some reason despite being a very shallow wound it hurts like hell when you pull it off ?

hangnails are the bane of my existance, i always pick at them until they bleed so...

1) something about this being around fingernails makes me think this would drive sqx CRAZY bc im willing to bet he religiously manicures his nails

2) i also think he (like me) picks at them too bc his physical presentation is a massive insecurity of his and hes an anxious lil guy

3) and the idea of him running to Shi Wudu going "GE!!! My finger is bleeding again!!!" and swd begrudgingly (but lovingly) helping him apply salve and bandages to the bleeding parts

Nobody talks about the double meaning of:

“Everything I have today, I fought for! I will fight for what I don’t have. I will change my fortune if fate denies me! My fate is up to me and not the heavens!”

Because yeah swd is talking about switching sqx’s fate all those years ago but he’s also talking about the fact that he knows he has just successfully goaded hx into killing him. hx gave swd two choices and swd said fuck that and manipulated hx into choosing the third option that he wanted. Literally the last thing he ever did was change his and sqx’s fate and that is so sexy of him.

inspired by the Audio Drama, I always wondered what kind of conversation went down between the Shi Brothers when when Shi Qingxuan woke up from passing out at his place of ascension?

I doubt it was pretty

Shi Wudu did what he could to keep Shi Qingxuan safe but does Shi Qingxuan see if it was worth it?

I felt that this song went very well for the both of them
